Morgan Harrington Murder: Why Anchorage Farm?
Disclaimer–
Charlottesville, VA– Morgan Harrington, 20 year old Virginia Tech Student found murdered on Anchorage Farm January 26 2010, was put there for a reason.
Image of Original Work By Nancy Bass
It was clear from Lt. Joe Rader’s press conference on February 4 that the location of Morgan’s remains is critical to the investigation, and to the identity of the individuals responsible.
Why Anchorage Farm?
David and Nancy Bass, owners of Anchorage Farm and the residential dwellings therein, own a boatload of land.
B O A T L O A D.
Mr. Bass, is also a longstanding member of the Albemarle County Zoning Appeals Board. In fact, he is the Chairman of the ACZAB since 2007, where he preceded this position at the Vice Chair since 2000.
Between 2005 and 2008, let’s agree there is a “run” on raw land in Albemarle County VA, in particular.
Like many families owning large tracts of land, there is always the dilemma of staying ahead of the zoning curve or preserving their land while paying taxes only on the residence.
Anchorage Farm, like almost 90% of surrounding vacant land, was registered in the Agricultural and Forrestal preservation program.
Location, Location, Location
The forced sale of Biscuit Run due to David Breeden’s original will was a disaster to its purchasers including Hometown crooner Dave Matthews.
A $46 Million dollar purchase from the Breeden family was recently bailed out by VDOT for under $10 Million.
There are lukewarm results to Blandemar Farms in its infancy.
The fresh sale of the first-of-its-kind development marrying land preservation and *ethereal* elite* estates* known as Bundoran Farms, Bass withdraws his 654 acre contribution to the Hardware District renewal.
Mr. and Mrs. Bass re-parceled and re-deeded their land in 2007. I have studied this tract closely; there is no doubt in my mind this land was being prepped for development with exactly the right easements for “right of way” purposes in place.
Nearly every other landowner was now in the 10 year plan with the possibility of not just one, but two significant luxury development projects on the horizon while their land is restricted from development of a “more intense use.”
Translation:
Holy Sh*t, my land could be “not subject to further subdivision” and worth half of what it is now in 10 years. Gulp.
Morgan’s remains were found in parcel 41a.
Which would coincide with the 4 and 1 parts of her families creed o; I choose to take comfort in that.
Keeping up with the Jonesbrights
As an example, let’s use the adjacent property tracts across Red Hill.
The Howell, Waybright, Napier and Hager Families own the largest preserved adjacent trac on Monacan, which from a plot perspective, you might argue is land-locked due to Mr. Bass ‘s re-zoning.
Now, before I get 300 posts asking if I am suggesting Morgan Harrington was murdered out of revenge of a land dispute; of course not.
I am simply saying it is possible that part of the motive of the persons responsible for Morgan’s death to place her on exactly the parcel she was, may have been a combination of comfort AND perceived payback.
I have personally worked with developers on a similar project and I have seen a man have his land value cut in half by not completing the planning process prior to new zoning amendments AFTER granting easements through it. Utter Nightmare.

Beautifully put message.
To the family of BG: You have the power to break the cycle of violence, deceit, and destruction. I pray that you find the strength to speak the truth out loud. I pray for the Harrington family and for your family to find peace.
About that house fire – I was reading on another site awhile back and there was all this speculation – well a girl posted that she was one of the rentees and that she had lost all her stuff but most heartwrenching her little doggie had persihed in the fire – she tried to get back in and the fire fighters restrained her. She stated the fire was caused by some faulty wiring.

I think your on the wrong thread.

Bear with me, I’m playing around with the police search of Rt 64 and hypotheses at the same time. Trying to get from point A to points B and C. Maybe when I’m finished a local that knows the roads can chime in.
Hypothesis: Morgan picked up on Copeley Bridge- LE has her last cell ping around mile marker 114 on rt 64 heading west (suggesting this due to the search of 64, mile markers 112-114). According to mapquest, marker 114 is the first turn off, Dick Woods Rd, to the direction of Sutherland (house fire), and to Anchorage Farm. If Sutherland or AF was the destination, why head up 64 instead of going down 29? To pick up/drop off someone between Charlottesville and Crozet? A drunk driver taking back roads trying to avoid LE on 29? It’s possible someone would go all the way to Crozet to pick up/drop off someone, but it seems like a long drive to go from JPJ to Crozet, and go all the way back to Sutherland/AF at that time of night. Could Morgan and perp(s) been headed for Crozet, then for some reason on the way there- changed course?
Question:
Does anyone know if there is a person/persons linked to a POI that lives between Charlottesville and the area of Dick Woods Rd that would give the driver a reason to go that route?
Ofcourse there could be several reasons LE searched that particular part of 64, this is just one hypothetical thought.
I don’t think drugs played any role in Morgan’s death. If she left to score drugs for the friends they surely would have made sure she was able to get back in. I lean more toward she needed some fresh air to breathe or retrieve something/purse she had forgotten in the vehicle. The BG or BG’s targeted her for her vulnerability. God **** them and the rock they are hiding under for what they did to Morgan.
C.J. posted a link to this article about Amber Dubois/Chelsea King on the Macaluso thread http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,588256,00.html?test=latestnews Couple of quotes I found interesting:
“Maurice Dubois said a spate of early reports that his daughter had been seen hampered his efforts to draw attention to the case. None of those sightings panned out and instead fueled speculation that Amber was a runaway rather than a crime victim.”
and secondly, “A woman reported Thursday night that her daughters told her in May that they found a bag of what looked like human hair, but she didn’t make the connection to the search for Amber until Chelsea vanished.”
I think that second quote illustrates why it is important for the public to have *some* information.
bluewillow says: March 7, 2010 at 5:48 am “a kid who steals a cop car and goes joy riding and taunting the cops is asking for it”
AND he got out of the car and OPENED fired on the LE there. If you notice all the media reports they “estimate” how many times he was fired at, but they nieglect to mention how many times he fired.
Blink, is there any reason to believe LE has located Morgan’s necklace?
No, but in fairness they are not discussing what personal effects of Morgan’s have been recovered from any location.
B
Red Ranger (love the moniker!) — you’re absolutely right. LE did not say Morgan was hitchhiking, they said “a girl matching Morgan’s description was seen hitching.” But we also know that the dogs lost Morgan’s scent on the bridge. So if this hitchhiking gal was not MOrgan, then who was it? And who did the BB players speak to just a stone’s throw away from the bridge?
You’re correct in saying that LE will cover their butts before making a statement as such. I do not for a second think their release about a girl HHing on the bridge was made lightly. I think enough pieces fit together for LE’s own level of comfort to justify making this controversial statement.
Thanks for humoring me in some friendly debate RR. Cheers to you, friend.

thank you for providing good reading material. i tell ya, don’t know what possesses some people to keep adding details to their encounter with morgan. could be someone wanting their 15 min o fame, but now he supposedly wants to remain anonymous. wth.
ok, details and more details = prevarication (often)
it is one thing to have interacted with morgan and her “party” (who says party?), exchanging a few words with a gorgeous girl. no red flags there, but i do submit that as concert goers exit their vehicles to join the wave of people heading toward the arena, they rarely note the number of people in another car. even next to them. maybe it’s just me, but when i am heading into whatever venue i have my eyeballs locked onto, i may chit chat and laugh with those walking next to me, but there’s usually not a reason to note who people are with….unless a later hook up is in the mental cross-hairs. now, that could be the case with mr gardner, but it just doesn’t sit right with me that he would have noted the number in morgan’s “party”.
what are the odds then that he interacts with a missing girl as they park at the same time and then when he exits the arena and arrives at his car, he notes only 3 people. maybe his recollection includes filling the blanks in after he had new facts. maybe. ok, he would have noticed morgan was not with them. not the number of peep left. disappointment that gorgeous girl was not around. did he ask where she was? dunno. would think that woulda been mentioned if he had. without knowledge of a missing person when the concert was over, why would he notice these things? mmm mmm mm
I am not going to post it, but tell me everything you saw. There’s a method to my madness.

Thanks Doll, that means alot to me!!!
Skyler, hang in there girl, I know it’s tough at times. I too break into tears over stuff I normally wouldn’t, add to that your doggy is missing, I completely understand….
I’ve been housebound since foot surgery 2 weeks ago, so I’ve been doing alot of reading and watching ID channel. Yesterday they had a story about a 16 year old girl who claimed to be gang-raped by three guys she sort of knew. Long story short, the “rape” was videotaped by one of the guys, LE got hold of the tape, and called the girl’s parents (she had not mentioned anything until then), and arrested the boys (teens as well). The girl said she was so drunkthat she was passed out during the rape, the boys said she was drunk but fully awake and a willing participant. Now here’s what I found strange…the tape was shown to the jury, but they didn’t all agree on what they saw. Most of them said she was aware of what was going on, in fact she seemed to be into it and helping. One woman juror saw a totally different picture, said the girl was definitely passed out and had no clue what was happening. Now, if 12 people looking at a tape can’t agree on someone’s state of sobriety, how can we be sure of the witness accounts of Morgan’s state of mind? We’ve heard everything from “extremely impaired” to “a little drunk”, to ‘She had been drinking” from LE. Some accounts from witnesses inside say she”seemed fine”, some say she was “all effed up”.
I honestly don’t know what to believe anymore, don’t know which eyewitnesses to believe. Were some people embellishing? When she fell inside(if she did really fall), the people who helped her up said she didn’t acknowledge them. Maybe she had the wind knocked out of her and she couldn’t speak for a minute or two (happened to me when I fell down the steps in HS). While I do think the whole gang was drinking/smoking, I’m not sure when Morgan became “out of control” or whatever, and what caused her to behave that way. I’m really questioning all eyewitness accounts of her behavior that night at this point.
And what about the NJ guy who says he and his friends parked next to Morgan? I have always found his recollection of their pre-concert conversation quite odd. “Who’s opening for Metallica? Oh, who cares, we’re just here to see Metallica?” That whole exchange was just weird, imo. It’s crossed my mind more than once that she was NOT that into them, she was there mostly for Gojira. Maybe she WAS into Metallica a few years ago, that’s why her parents bought the tics, but I’m not sure she cared too much if she missed them. That would also explain why her friends weren’t all that concerned when she took off.
Sorry for the long, rambling post, but when I wake up early and can’t get back to sleep, I find myself thinking of Morgan, and trying to retrace her steps that night. How messed up were you, Morgan? So much that you would hitchike and get in a car with a stranger? Aaaagghhh, it’s SO frustrating!
Blink – do you testify in court sometimes and/or give the police some info you might get on your site? I just recentlly started reading here. I used to investigate welfare fraud cases and take them to the county attorney. Often we would settle with restition for first offenders and sometimes a little jail time for others. My then boyfriend was a legal aid attorney and he did not go light on me if I had taken out a warrent on one of his clients. Then one Sunday i got a call from my supervisor that I had to come to the office because the state was being sued on one of my cases….in Federal Court. The County Attorney and a State Attorney wanted to meet with me….When I told my bf he said he was the one who filed the suit…”Don’t worry – it’s not your fault you’ll do fine – I’ll take you to to the Lobster House for lunch – or Chan’s for Chinese… Italian, maybe? EEEKKK I am being sued in Federal Court in Richmond and he’s suing me and he’s asking me Chinese or Italian WTF?!!!! It was Chinese and court wasn’t bad – nice court room – the State Atty’s were not happy – the judge ruled in the client’s favor and the regulation was changed. BF and Legal Aid staff doing the victory dance – as I get in the county car to return to the office my supervisor asks, “Do you know those lawyers? Uh, yeah the tall skinny one lives on my street – we say hi now and then….”
Your a riot, that is hilarious.
I am going to decline to answer your question directly which is your answer in itself

And lightning all around me
I remembered each flash

Like a startling sign
The feint had finally found me
And your voice was all I heard
That I get what I deserve

To prove me wrong
To wash this memory clean
Let the thoughts cross
The distance in your eyes
Give me reason
To fill this hole
Ignite the space between
Let it be enough to reach the truth and lies

The memories left abandoned
There was nowhere to hide
The ashes fell like snow
And the ground caved in
Between where we were standing
And your voice was all I heard
That I get what I deserve
“So give me reason
To prove me wrong
To wash this memory clean
Let the thoughts cross
The distance in your mind
Across this new divide
“And every loss
And every lie
And every truth that you deny
And each regret
And each divide
Are some mistakes you pray to hide
And your voice was all I heard
But I get what I deserve
“So give me reason
To prove me wrong
To wash this memory clean
Let the thoughts cross
The distance in your eyes
Give me reason
To fill this hole

Let it be enough to reach the truth and lies
Across this new divide”

total amatuer, you ask: could they be headed for crozet and for some reason they changed course?yes, this is where he makes a wrong turn (for her not for him),they are headed for crozet or jmu,he’s realizing how lucky he is to have her in the car he’s feeling her out ,and realizes she aint an easy party girl, she aint going to be inviting him in when they get there,he might even suggest they go somewhere else instead, she says no,he makes a wrong turn telling her he needs to stop by someones house first ,just for a minute.he knows right where he’s going.but that’s just one scenario. i worked in theatre,(staging, blocking movement, building cues, and then i was in the booth, executing the cues,ie: changing the lights with the music ,)so sorry ,i can entertain endless combinations and variations of scenario, all at once.and actually that’s what happened to me with the flat tire ,he made a wrong turn, and said he wanted to drive by his brother’s house and see if he was home ,and then pretended to be lost.
UGH !!!!!! That POS that murdered Chelsea …… I want him to get the “William Wallace” special. Drawn and Quartered…a little burning at the stake… using certain “parts” as pin cushions. No little needle – I mean we do that for our cherished pets – not for toilet slime like that asshole. There really is a war on women and girls and it’s time to get serious and putting these slimeballs down. Drawing and Quartering on Pay 4 View and all proceeds go the sex crime victims recovery fund. FOX might put it on – Rupert’s got two little girls…..sorry for my bad mood…I am just pizzed.
Virginia Code § 18.2-460 – Obstructing justice
If any person without just cause knowingly obstructs a judge, magistrate, justice, juror, attorney for the Commonwealth, witness or any law-enforcement officer in the performance of his duties as such or fails or refuses without just cause to cease such obstruction when requested to do so by such judge, magistrate, justice, juror, attorney for the Commonwealth, witness, or law-enforcement officer, he shall be guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor.
For Class 1 misdemeanors, confinement in jail for up to twelve months and a fine of up to $2,500, either or both.
****************************************************
You must love him/them and want to protect them, but no one is going to protect you when you are spending time in jail for obstruction of justice. All you need to do is pick up a phone and call VSP today. Are you willing to have your name tarnished AND do jail time for someone who you KNOW has the potential to kill again? It is time to cut the ties. You can still love him, just do what you know is right. If you don’t, any subsequent blood will be on your hands b/c you have the chance now to put and end to it today.
A woman should be able to live life to the fullest, make the most of their youth and find enjoyment in their interests.
Morgan was not able to do this.
Yet, those responsible for Morgan’s natural born right to live and enjoy life being taken from her, have for the last going on four months now, been able to carry on with their lives, do their partying, have their fun. Probably getting cocky at this point for having gotten away with this grave injustice thus far, think they have beat the cops “cause they can’t prove anything”.
Makes me sick…..
The million of things that could have happened differently that night that would have changed the horrible outcome – a friend going to the “bathroom” with her instead of her going alone or a friend giving a security guard her keys to give to her so she could get access to her car (after all, her Dad did treat everyone to the evening to begin with) or a friend offering to pay for a ticket so she could get back in (again, the least they could do since Morgan’s Dad paid for the tickets, the gas, and it is Morgan’s car that got them there and back home, less Morgan). It seems to me that there could have been something done by one of her friends that could have changed the outcome, instead of just leaving her stuck outside, unable to get in her own car, vulernable, two hours away from home on a cold and rainy night while they stay inside and joyfully watch the remainder of the concert.
From what we have all learned of Morgan, she was a loving, caring, talented, artistic, fashionable, fun loving, free-spirited, trusting, beautiful girl with a big heart who liked helping people, who did volunteer work, had a wide range of interests and was an honor to know.
I’m going to go ahead and say it – too bad she didn’t have friends who had a fraction of the fabric that Morgan was made of – friends who were able to care about someone else more than their selves, friends who would do whatever they had to do for their best friend who happened to paying for the evening and looking forward to it for months, so she didn’t get screwed over (or as it turns out, much worse than that). If only they could have been the type of friend to Morgan that I’m sure she had always been to them.
- Are ANY DNA test results back yet and if so, have they reveiled ANYTHING?
- Have Sara and Amy’s phone records been obtained to see if anyone even attempted to contact Morgan after the concert?
- Did anything come of the call to the bicyclist or the Location Tip Line?

Oh YEAH, Girl, that’s the best idea YET!!!
The fire started the night before Morgan’s remains were found. How could it possibly be related unless someone knew that Mr. Bass was going to be checking his fence line? Which seems like kind of a stretch…..
Concerned Mom:
I echo your statement- I think I might have even made a post refering to any more blood being on their hands. If something happens to somebody else’s daughter- how could they live with themselves? They’d be just as guilty in my eyes.
To add to obstruction of justice- they could be charged with lying to a Federal Agent and aiding and abetting. If someone knows and is willfully covering for these criminals, and don’t come forward of their own volition, IMO they should be charged to the fullest extent of the Law.

If you had a bad break up, you could probably get him disbarred as revenge. Sounds like he committed a huge ethical violation.
Blink, why is no media pressure being put on people? I mean seriously, certain peoples names are being thrown around the internet every day… aren’t there any reporters calling these people asking for statements?
Thats why I’d like to hear from locals about what the “beat” is around town. Do the family members of certain individuals just go to work or school everyday like normal? Do people avoid them in public, or give them dirty looks? How are they just seemingly flying under the radar? For the simple reason LE hasn’t named a suspect? Since when has that ever stopped the media?
TO: Steady (3/7, 11:42am): I share your observations below (re-posted in their entirety):
“When pondering whether Morgan meeting up with/leaving with her killer was pre-arranged or random I feel strongly that it was random. Anyone who came and picked her up as a result of Morgan calling them would likely assume that one or more of Morgan’s friends knew who Morgan was calling. If that is the case then whoever picked her up would be unlikely to believe he/they could get away with her murder. That just wouldn’t be a reasonable risk.
Random, on the other hand, combined with the missing cell phone battery would create a situation where the killer would feel 100% anonymous, and comfortable doing what he did. This doesn’t exclude the possibility that Morgan was familiar with the person, only that the meeting was pre-arranged.”
TO: Justiceformorgan (3/7, 2:28am), referencing an earlier post by keekee:
“KeeKee made an excellent point quite some time ago with respect to what may have happened if Morgan was offered a ride by the BG(s). ..KeeKee suggested the BG could have told Morgan (once she was in the car and really had no choice), “I just have to make a quick stop at…” (could be AF to “look in on my neighbor’s house while they are away”), etc. And, when they arrive, Morgan learns of the true motives of the BG and she is now in the middle of nowhere with nobody around.”
Agreed, completely.
I would think that at this point, knowing that the FBI is involved, the body is found, DNA probable to be recovered, and a lot of reward money at stake, who would risk putting their own a** on the line for the SOB by with-holding information pertinent to a criminal investigations and knowing the criminal consequences? All I can come up with is a parent protecting their child or someone absolutely scared to death of what the perp or perps friends would do to them if they talked.
I don’t believe that there is any way that Morgan attended a party that night and that every person there has been able to keep quiet this whole time about seeing her there.
I do believe that Morgan left with this individual THINKING that she was either going to a party or another music event until the Metallica concert was over.
If Morgan took her own boots off, that would tell me that she felt comfortable in her environment, at least at the time the boots came off. I doubt the perp would have been able to un-lace them (if they were lace up) if she was awake and kicking/fighting for her life.
I am interested in the “more to come” in regards to the phone records. That, after all this time, tells me that LE was unable to secure a warrant for something previously and now have been able to obtain a warrant for phone records from someone that have shed additionally light on things. Or, maybe they had this info all along and haven’t released it, but if that were the case, why would they be saying something about it now (well, they haven’t yet but it sounds like something is about to be released from what Blink has hinted to)?
Thanks, Fish, for the link to article about DG, stating only 3 people in car after concert. This leads me to believe they expected her back, and didn’t have a clue who she was with. I know they have also said “she said she would get a ride back home,” but I think that was said later when they were in CYA mode. With all the noise in the arena, I doubt they could hear very well what she said, maybe only bits and pieces. Maybe she said if she couldn’t get a ride home, she would meet them back at the car. So, after concert, no Morgan, no answer on her cell phone, their hinky meters should have been going off big-time, and probably were, but they hadn’t a clue what to do, and therefore did nothing. And, for many in that age group, that reaction is sadly not too surprising.

Good thought regarding the reason for that particular search area. Makes you wonder about the debit card, & could it have been used on that route? I tend to think there was an excuse made for turning off 64, quick stop to pick something up. This is of coarse if we are thinking there was no original destination to hang out, just a ride home.
I wonder if initially she could have thought she had her keys. I know I have done that, looking looking in the purse, dumping the purse. Then the light bulb goes off, crap so & so has them! Maybe she left some smokes in the car?
That still is a very pertinent aspect… why she was outside.
I think that if VSP is not getting the leads they thought they would, it might be time for an update.
Anyway, getting way off your point. Maybe our perp just went along with any direction she suggested and then made his move off the beaten path.Crozet could have been that path.
Bluewillow – Just got twitter from Adam Housley of Fox News. Escondido police will have a presser about 3:30 regarding Amber Dubois. Amber’s father says after Chelsea King last week, “likelihood of John Gardner being involved is much larger than we would like to believe.”
Bluewillow:
Thanks for the link again regarding Amber Dubois and Chelsea King. I thought this comment interesting:
“The circumstances were completely different,” Dubois said. “The evidence that they found on Chelsea led them to believe that they needed to find her immediately. There was never, ever any evidence found on Amber.”
Wouldn’t the fact that Amber was missing, even if she was presumed a run-away, lead the police to believe that they should find her immediately too? I think it is very unfortunate that if a missing person is wealthy and beautiful, they get more media attention and seemingly more LE attention.
All missing people, be it man or woman, child, black, white or otherwise deserve to be found. Thanks to Blink and other sites that focus on these victims and strive to get the word out about them.
keekee:
I have said it before and I’ll say it again. Sometimes people just want people to believe that they are the “Dead Girl’s Best Friend”. Thus why they run at the mouth!
Two incidents in my family and do you know how many people came out and said how close they were with the girls? Dozens, that’s how many! That is why police have so much work in decifering the who, what, when, where, why and how! I stood at water’s edge and knew who I was. Never needed to say I was anyone’s best friend. This is who I am.
Tomorrow is Monday.
Let’s hope that this family understands that I, we can feel for them but enough is enough. Punishment and help is what he needs and if it helps you get on with it…then, help is what he deserves. Make you feel better?
Total: I just drove twice this weekend with family to and fro Cville. From an outsiders perspective, you have to know your turn-off is coming up. Those exits are not marked as clearly as I would like and in the dark, well…you have to know where you are going. Just my personal observation, mind you.
Why would Morgan borrow a phone if she had her own phone?
Because she lost her battery (from dropping the purse from time to time, as witnesses allegedly saw?), but still had the phone at that point.
Because her battery was dead (maybe she even got mad at it and threw it away).
Because she had already lost her purse and phone and battery.
Because she wanted to call someone like a drug dealer but not have the number traced to her (this one sounds so duplicitous and un-Morgan-like, from what we’ve come to know about her, that I feel stupid even writing it, but I like to consider all angles, no matter how unlikely).
To report her purse missing or stolen.
To call someone for a ride home.
What other reasons would Morgan borrow a phone that night?
Is the name “Shiflett” still relevant, or–much like GRH–merely baseless rumors and innuendos started on the internet?
The only reason I ask is because I FINALLY found cheeseburger’s sis FB page, and she has a curiously high number of “Shifletts” as friends. Is this a common name in the Charlottesville area, or what?
Also, was able to access a vid she posted on her other profile on the other popular social networking site (even though her profile is still private, you can still see vids they post) which shows the biological dad…my impression from clues gleaned from the social networking sites is a rather lower income, working class family (all about hunting, guns, trucks, and cars), in sharp contrast to the “educated” and “wordly” Harringtons. I only bring this up because “parralels” have been alluded to, which I don’t see. These folks are not hippies.
I suppose Morgan could have left the arena to buy drugs, but since they knew for 6 mos. they were going to this show, you’d think they’d have all those ducks in a row wayyyyy in advance of going to the concert, or at the very least, before going into the arena. Plus she coulda’ prolly scored inside (gawd, do the kids say score anymore?).
Hey Mosaic,
Many things are possible. In reference to the dogs tracking Morgan’s scent on the bridge, I take LE’s word for it. My mind then wanders back to the search for Derrick Todd Lee, when dogs tracked a victim that was in a moving car for miles down I-10 before they lost the scent. I am not saying this is what happened at the Copeley bridge but it is within the realm of possibility. I also have seen no public release, beyond rumor of any specifics on conversations with the basketball players. Everything I saw said the BB players were fully cooperative though.
I attended many Mettalica concerts in the early 90′s. Each time there was an average of about 100 attractive blondes in black miniskirts. I am unsure of their crowd dynamic now so I have no idea how many attended this particular concert at JPJ arena. Apparently the million+ dollar video system was not functional that evening so we may never know. Most arenas have cameras at every door, concession stand, hallway and at the ticket booth. Apparently Morgan was able to teleport from her car, to the arena floor, the bathrooms, concession stands and also bypassed any hallways leading to her many indoor destinations. Her conversations with the girlk at the ticket booth went undigitized as well.
We are spending a lot of time discussing rumors that could easily be laid to rest by conducting a proper press conference. I am still of the school of thought that LE is on top of things and taking the right steps though. I am hopeful that their due diligence is ready to pay dividends. Now. Yesterday. ( I admit the timing is not up to me.)
I would prefer to be a pre-codger than a curmudgeon in my thoughts of who harmed Doc and Mrs. H’s baby girl. I reckon I just need a little less A.D.D. and a little more organization. I am fixing to focus.
Everybody take a minute for a kind thought for the men and women of LE who are burning the candle at both ends to bring this to a close. It has a heavy personal toll on them beyond just doing a job. Rest assured they are doing case geometry, figuring every angle, while they shower, drive, eat, and put their littles to bed. This is a tough one for everyone.
Well, since we’ve never learned what happened the day of the concert (e.g., what did Morgan and friends do that whole day? did they stop anywhere on the way to the show, etc.?), isn’t there a chance that they had traveled to JPJ with DG and his party? I mean, it’s a small world, but did they really just accidentally park next to them in the lot, or were they part of a 2-car (or more) convoy? Were they coming from the same restaurant/convenience store/gas station/party?
They knew each other, right? And knew Dee.
So about that Sutherland house-fire…
If the blaze had occurred the afternoon or evening of Jan. 26 – rather than well before dawn (2 a.m.) – it would certainly warrant attention. But it did not; it happened while Mr. Bass was deep asleep next to his wife on his Craftmatic Adjustable Bed, nearly a mile away from where Morgan’s remains lay, waiting to be discovered. There’s been some speculation that he was “tipped off to the body” hours later, presumably as he set to work feeding cows and rumbling around his 700-acre farm’s perimeter in search of damage to fences following some record snowfall.
I do not think that was the case; I think he found her the very first time he ventured out to that dormant, secluded back pasture since the tall grass of late fall had been matted against the earth by a deep layer of snow (that took its time melting into the earth). I submit that no one knew Bass would discover her that day; and that the rest of the world (including the BG(s) was/were clued in soon after he made his way back to the main house and called the police.
Back to the fire – I just don’t see how it could be related. If there was some sort of incriminating evidence at these particular students’ rented house that would tie the BG(s) to MH, it would have been set ablaze soon after she disappeared in October and the whole region was looking for her.
The page did not turn in this case until hours after the fire was out on Jan. 26.
Also, unless something not reported or acknowledged by Albemarle County officials has occurred in regard to the Sutherland inferno, this is the current release regarding its cause on the county’s Web site:

Release
Cause of Fire Believed to be Acccidental
1/27/2010
On Tuesday, January 26, 2010 firefighters were dispatched just before 2 AM for a report of fire *in a room* in the 3300 block of Sutherland Road, off Monacan Trail in Albemarle County. Units from North Garden, Charlottesville, Crozet, Charlottesville-Albemarle Rescue Squad and Albemarle County responded with approximately twenty fire fighters.
Four people were home at the time of the fire and everyone was able to escape; a family pet, however, was found in the debris after the fire was extinguished. The fire took about four hours to extinguish. There were no other injuries reported. Fire Investigators are still working to determine an exact cause for the fire, which destroyed the house, but *believe the fire started in one of the bedrooms due to an accidental cause.* The four residents of the house were displaced by the fire and have found alternative housing.

TA; you asked >.Would the insurance company need an “official” cause determination before issuing payment on a claim? Would they send their own investigator to verify a claim and/or cause?
I worked in the legal industry for 25 years — in civil litigation — I did a lot of fire cases, and absolutely the ins. co. can w/hold payment on a claim and do their own investigation — and if they haven’t paid up yet, it’s because they believe there’s a problem w/ the claim — ie, — usually owner arson — or — occupant arson, in the case of a rental property — or — rental occupant responsibility — if they believe the occupants caused the fire — either arson or accidentally — they can delay payment of the claim, or they can pay the claim but then “subbrogate” the claim, meaning go after the occupants to pay damages if they believe a third party is responsible.
*** if; a strong if *** it is determined that the rental occupants are responsible for the fire, and if they didn’t have renters insurance — they could spend the remainder of their lives paying for that house –
i worked on one fire case that was over five years and no pay out —
*** if; strong if *** it was faulty wiring which caused the blaze, then the tenants could have a cause of action against the owners, especially if they had reported issues w/ the wiring that the owners failed to repair –

A little OT and a little connected —
Karma seems to be working — Willie Nelson had a song about “instant karma coming down’ —
I hope to God karma’s coming for morgan — it came swift for my child today.
maybe because of this situation w/ Morgan, i just refused to give my kid a pass on lying to me about working and keeping my car on Friday — and not answering all of my frantic phone calls –
We have searched the majority of this day for my dog — so I decided to drive down the main highway which runs parallel to the rural route I live on — on the side of the road I saw a large clump of black fur — and then white fur — they are doing a lot of logging lately, and so I pulled over w/ a heavy heart thinking my dog had been hit by a big truck and her born torn asunder — she has a white fur chest and collar — so i sent the boy — i just could not face it —
He makes this horrible face and starts to gag — i just know it’s my lexie — he gets to the car — which is parked by an open field — he is bent over double gagging and coughing — sorry — his face is red — he cannot talk —
Finally he tells me — it was three skunks !! dead in the ditch — i like skunks, i think they’re cute — i was able to look when i drove by, while holding my hose — one of them had an almost solid white back — it must have been a little skunk family — they were lying dead under the mail box — poor mail carrier —
I told my child that’s what he got for lying, and he’d better turn his life around —
i swear I can just feel it in the air — whoever posted that song last week; one of my favorites — the air feels charged that this case is going to break soon — and when it does, it will be more than just about Morgan —
There’s no news on my dog — and when i dropped a flier off at the fire station by my house the lady i spoke w/ said they think someone in the area is stealing dogs — a couple down the road had lost their charpai — had set up a hot line and were offering a $1000 reward — no responses. You have no idea how much i appreciate all of your very kind well wishes and responses — it means a lot.
I think about that Eppard kid that was killed — they said he got out of the car — after having been shot at least 4 times — dragged a shot gun over the hood of the car and was shooting w/ one hand — I’m not a firearms expert by any means, but every shot gun I’ve ever shot — and there have been many — those bad boys kick w/ two hands and the butt up against your shoulder — and then the Greene County cop was 20 miles outside of his jurisdiction —
So much waste of life — on all sides —
peace to all —
Absolute Justice for Morgan !
I know the Pantera t-shirt has been discussed but, I decided to revisit the article today. Which of course just left me with more questions. If in fact that was Morgan’s shirt, wouldn’t that constitute a search of the premises? Would they ask residence of the surrounding premises for alibis? One of the gentlemen interviewed, the member of Bella Morte (beautiful death), was at the Metallica concert. Does being at a concert really count as an alibi? Did they have him on security cam? Was Morgan the only one not captured on security cams tha night? If someone used the concert as an alibi wouldn’t they have captured them leaving or returning? Wouldn’t they have scratches on them? Would someone know where to enter/exit without being seen? Who would be privy to the whereabouts of such cams if they exist? Security, staff, police? I don’t know I didn’t build JPJ arena! I do find it disturbing that Mrs. Parson’s sighting was discounted. The fact that the shirt was found near where she says she saw Morgan is even more disturbing. Maybe the shirt is not Morgan’s. If it isn’t, maybe someone put it there as a cruel prank, or someone wanted LE to look there but was afraid to speak up. It could even be possible someone put it there to through off the investigation. No matter the reason, I feel it deserves some very careful attention, and I pray that it got it.

“You want people who know this guy to think, ‘This guy’s capable of this,’ and it’s those tips you’re looking for.”
At a press conference held Wednesday, January 27 confirming identity of the remains, lead State Police investigator Lt. Joe Rader said evidence in addition to the bones had been recovered from the Farm, and suggested the focus of the investigation would shift from Copeley Bridge, where Harrington was last seen allegedly hitchhiking the night of the Metallica concert, to Anchorage Farm.
But that doesn’t mean police aren’t continuing to investigate clues in town. A black t-shirt touting the band Pantera— something that Harrington was said to be wearing— was discovered last fall on a bush outside a 21-unit Grady Avenue apartment complex.
The day after Harrington’s body was found, several residents say they answered a knock on the door to find badge-carrying detectives asking questions.
“At first,” says resident Brandon Shores— who works at Miller’s, plays drums for successful goth band Bella Morte, and had attended the Metallica concert— “I thought they were interrogating me!”
But Shores soon realized that police simply wanted to show him a photo of a Pantera t-shirt on a bush.
“I’d seen that same style shirt on other people,” he says, “but I hadn’t seen it here.”
One man had more direct knowledge.
It was a mid-afternoon while walking home from class last fall– he thinks it was November– that UVA student Blaine Eichner saw something black in the bushes in front of his apartment building. There on the 15th Street side, on a bush, was a black Pantera t-shirt.
“I didn’t know what to think,” says Eichner, who like most Charlottesvillians was well aware of the missing Metallica fan. Eichner says he and his roommate knew better than to touch possible evidence, so they reported the finding to Charlottesville police, who responded to the call with “two or three cop cars.”
Like Shores and many of his neighbors in the building, Eichner was re-interviewed after Morgan’s body was found. Does he think he found Morgan’s shirt?
“I feel like, if it really had something to do with the case, it wouldn’t have been thrown on a bush,” he says. “But, it could be a crazy person who wants attention– I don’t know.”
Others have pointed to the low-key approach police seem to have taken around the shirt’s discovery as a signal of its insignificance. Eichner says he couldn’t tell the size of the shirt, and says it appeared it had pictures of the faces of the band members along with the name. Police have never released an image of a Pantera shirt like the one Morgan was wearing, but her mother has said it had only plain block-type letters and no images.
Virginia State Police spokesperson Corinne Geller declined to comment on the Pantera shirt and, when asked, declined to express concern that releasing such information could compromise the investigation.
One person who finds the discovery of the shirt interesting is Norma Parson. A newspaper deliveryperson who works early mornings, she has long insisted she saw Morgan– or a Morgan lookalike– walking out of a room on UVA’s West Lawn around 3:45am on October 18, hours after the Metallica show ended. Accompanied by three males, Parson says, the blond woman she saw was dressed all in black and wearing a coat, miniskirt, and knee-high boots.
Parson has long claimed that police failed to fully follow her lead, although police insist her tip was fully vetted, and a student whose room is adjacent to the one Parson noted confirmed that police interviewed him and his neighbor.
“I still believe it was her,” says Parson. Police have not recontacted he

blink,
When this case goes to trial…would those people who saw Morgan be called as witnesses? Remember I am not a professional here!
Just askin’!
For example:
The UVA Basketball players – 3 or 4 (not really sure of #)
Wayne Townsend – saw her inside of arena
Dave Gardner – saw and talked to her outside arena
plus his brother, cousin, friend
Kickee – saw, talked to, and was supposedly grabbed by her
Textee – where ever he was
D. Winston or DM – just regretted not helping her more
Anyone else who we do not quite have a name of yet.
Gramma, Bookkeeper and husband, MIB, Limo driver…
and of course:
Sarah, Dan, and Amy
re; Dan Gardner’s observations;
Dan Gardner stated, “They weren’t really tailgating. There was no evidence of drinking.”
A very short time later it was reported by witnesses in and around the arena that Morgan appeared “wobbly” and appeared to have been drinking. It was reported she had fallen INSIDE THE ARENA; injured her chin INSIDE THE ARENA; was crying INSIDE THE ARENA; was behaving erratically INSIDE and outside the arena; and, was seen repeatedly dropping her purse.
This would indicate Morgan went from appearing sober in the parking lot (time anyone?) to being EXCESSIVELY INEBRIATED inside the arena (time anyone?) in a very short period of time which would support the theory that someone had “slipped her something”.
If this is the case, then the timeline of the crime would begin inside the arena and finding pictures of Morgan and those standing beside her during the opening acts could prove to be extremely important.
Just my thoughts.
Also, with respect to Dan Gardner’s use of the term “party” to describe Morgans friends, maybe Dan Garner is a lawyer I wonder if this would make him a more credible or a less credible witness? To all the lawyers out there ~ just kidding
Dan Garner stated, “There was no evidence of drinking”. He also noted it did not appear they were . If Morgan had been drinking and appeared “wobbly” as has been reported,
Does anyone know if Morgan attended the Crozet Music Festival? It was ove the weekend October 2, 3 and 4 at Misty Mountain. A local photographer has posted over a 1000 pics of the event at elstudio.pro and the password is on the festival’s facebook page if anyone wants to take a look.
