Morgan Harrington Murder: Why Anchorage Farm?

Charlottesville, VA– Morgan Harrington, 20 year old Virginia Tech Student found murdered on Anchorage Farm January 26 2010, was put there for a reason.

It was clear from Lt. Joe Rader’s press conference on February 4 that the location of Morgan’s remains is critical to the investigation, and to the identity of the individuals responsible.

Why Anchorage Farm?

AFDistrictlessbass

David and Nancy Bass, owners of Anchorage Farm and the residential dwellings therein, own a boatload of land.

B O A T L O A D.

Mr. Bass, is also a longstanding member of the Albemarle County Zoning Appeals Board. In fact, he is the Chairman of the ACZAB since 2007, where he preceded this position at the Vice Chair since 2000.

Between 2005 and 2008, let’s agree there is a “run” on raw land in Albemarle County VA, in particular.

Like many families owning large tracts of land, there is always the dilemma of staying ahead of the zoning curve or preserving their land while paying taxes only on the residence.

Anchorage Farm, like almost 90% of surrounding vacant land, was registered in the Agricultural and Forrestal preservation program.

Location, Location, Location

The forced sale of Biscuit Run due to David Breeden’s original will was a disaster to its purchasers including Hometown crooner Dave Matthews.

A $46 Million dollar purchase from the Breeden family was recently bailed out by VDOT for under $10 Million.

There are lukewarm results to Blandemar Farms in its infancy.

The fresh sale of the first-of-its-kind development marrying land preservation and *ethereal* elite* estates* known as Bundoran Farms, Bass withdraws his 654 acre contribution to the Hardware District renewal.

Mr. and Mrs. Bass re-parceled and re-deeded their land in 2007.  I have studied this tract closely; there is no doubt in my mind this land was being prepped for development with exactly the right easements for “right of way” purposes in place.

Nearly every other landowner was now in the 10 year plan with the possibility of not just one, but two significant luxury development projects on the horizon while their land is restricted from development of a “more intense use.”

Translation:

Holy Sh*t,  my land could be “not subject to further subdivision”  and worth half of what it is now in 10 years.  Gulp.

Morgan’s remains were found in parcel 41a.

Which would coincide with the 4 and 1 parts of her families creed o; I choose to take comfort in that.

Keeping up with the Jonesbrights

TaxMap87

As an example, let’s use the adjacent property tracts across Red Hill.

The Howell, Waybright, Napier and Hager Families own the largest preserved adjacent trac on Monacan, which from a plot perspective, you might argue is land-locked due to Mr. Bass ‘s re-zoning.

Now, before I get 300 posts asking if I am suggesting Morgan Harrington was murdered out of revenge of a land dispute; of course not.

I am simply saying it is possible that part of the motive of the persons responsible for Morgan’s death to place her on exactly the parcel she was, may have been a combination of comfort AND perceived payback.

I have personally worked with developers on a similar project and I have seen a man have his land value cut in half by not completing the planning process prior to  new zoning amendments AFTER granting easements through it. Utter Nightmare.

    re; Dan Gardner’s observations;

Dan Gardner stated, “They weren’t really tailgating. There was no evidence of drinking.”

A very short time later it was reported by witnesses in and around the arena that Morgan appeared “wobbly” and appeared to have been drinking. It was reported she had fallen INSIDE THE ARENA; injured her chin INSIDE THE ARENA; was crying INSIDE THE ARENA; was behaving erratically INSIDE and outside the arena; and, was seen repeatedly dropping her purse.

This would indicate Morgan went from appearing sober in the parking lot (time anyone?) to being EXCESSIVELY INEBRIATED inside the arena (time anyone?) in a very short period of time which would support the theory that someone had “slipped her something”.

right on, justiceformorgan. This has been rolling around in my brain, too. If Dan Gardner is a faithful witness, something sure changed between the time she was heading in to the arena and the time she left it, and either she had taken a pill and it hadn’t taken effect yet when DG saw them or it happened inside the arena. Folks who know say something in the drink could totally explain why she left to go outside. And, we’ve heard from our own eyewitness that it is NOT all that obvious that you can’t re-enter if you leave the arena.

    Excerpt from Gil’s post:
“I will try to witness the end of Morgan’s life with the same clarity and anticipation as I saw at her birth on July 24, 1989.”
    ——–
Anticipation, by definition, obviously means “looking ahead” to something. I really hate to read too much into this greiving mother’s words. Dark thoughts run through my head, because of thing’s Blink has said in the past, and because of Morgan’s missing camera.
When Gil says “witness the end of Morgan’s life”, I deeply hope that it is just an abstract use of the phrase. I hope the poster upthread is right, and that Gil is anticipating the ugly truths that will come out in a trial. I hope she is “anticipating” an iminent arrest and end to the questions.

I cringe to allow myself to think this, but my wild imagination’s darkest fear is that the camera was located and it contains images or a “snuff” video of Morgan’s murder- this is hopefully unlikely, but it has happened. Blink, anything you can say to dispel this disturbing thought?

If it makes your chinny-chin-chin feel better, the Night of the Socks-in-Mouth, I ran out the door spitting lint, found my car battery dead from leaving my hazards on, managed to pop-start my engine by rolling backward down my driveway… and, as I celebrated how awesome my resourceful skillz were while cruising down my busy street, the hood flew up, smashing my windshield and temporarily blinding my view of the road.

(Hey kids – if you ever open your hood to look at your battery or check your oil, be sure to close it tight before you take off.)
    *ching* The More You Know…

While I didn’t have a bloody chin, the bruise on my psyche still smarts to this day (and I was out more than $200 for a new windshield). Socks would not have helped, but perhaps you should always keep a pair stuffed in your cheek, darlin’.

    HeadHurts – re: empty lunchbox
(First, I can totally relate to your moniker. It may not be as awesome as “Kojak,” but it’s quite apt in regard to this case.)

You stated: “J2K — I luv you gal, am totally entertained and enlightened by your posts — but B is eating your lunch big time on the fire discussion.”

I can only surmise that “eating your lunch” means something to the effect of “peeing in your Cheerios” … no, that doesn’t seem right either. Regardless! I am not trying to debate B on the relevance of the Sutherland fire, but I *hate* to be misread.

It’s certainly understandable that, with all the posts flung B’s way all day long on multiple cases – some comments more intricate than others; some much longer and verbose than others(ahem. guilty.); some more complex than others – it must be impossible to get every post’s point.

I felt my point was not coming across: I can see clear as everyone else that the “exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined,” but I also can see that, clearly, the fire has yet to be considered suspicious, despite more than a month of investigative analysis.

Do y’all honestly think an accelerant was found and the government is risking liability to withold that info? That it wouldn’t eventually come out anyway, with a splash of egg across the faces of the elected officials’ faces? That a pyromaniac serial killer is upping the ante and the public does not deserve a warning? – shit, I’ll get the paper work for a FOIA request tomorrow, and be poised to push the “Start” on my fax machine to send it in the moment the Sutherland case is closed. (I’m taking bets now that no one over there is shaking in their shoes that a reporter is going to expose them over this – cuz one of us would.)

Someone asked who Albemarle County officials are accountable to. They are accountable to taxpayers — and voters. I’m just as cynical (if not more so) than the next person, but I know deeply and from direct experience how certain levels of government work on certain matters of public transparancy, and when I say county officials – which include the fire department – would not post that the cause is believed to be accidental if they didn’t have a solid reason to “believe” that [read: share that information with the public], than all I can do is hope you understand I know from which I speak.

(Or, just pile on – I’ll keep fightin’ ya ’til the end.)

There is little room for nuance or strategic manipulation in official public communication on-the-record [e.g., putting forth purposely misleading information to the public in order to secretly communicate with one person or small group for a specific purpose is unheard of - you'll note that when Lt. Rader did so, it was expressly stated].

In other words, if the county had published *nothing* on the nature of the house-fire, or noted it was “still under investigation,” I would *still* highly doubt it was related to the pending discovery of MH’s remains on AF, but I *would* have reserved a small portion of “Hmmm…” for the improbable conspiracy such an ill-timed arson points to.

The county’s unsolicited stamp of “accidental” so soon afterward tells me someone who was in the bedroom the fire started in either ‘fessed up to leaving a candle burning when she went to sleep or to jamming extra plugs into the power cord or the like.

Really, folks – don’t make me start hurling batteries on Christmas…

I am not sure if I am just wired strangely, but like a dog, I want to roll in it. It was my privilege to watch Morgan come into this world; somehow it is also my duty to contemplate her death. I will try to witness the end of Morgan’s life with the same clarity and anticipation as I saw at her birth on July 24, 1989.

Did Mr Cheese-jumpsuit make enemies? Sounds like he may have scuffled in jail. Now, I’ve read this blog daily for awhile now. I hate to bring up old news that has been re-hashed and possibly discredited, but it has been mentioned that we really don’t have definitive answers on alot.

So. Mr Cheese-suit worked about 10 blocks from where the Pantera shirt was ‘supposedly’ found. (I had some downtime at work today and tried to locate the young RSO and, unlike all the other times I’ve looked, just saw the proximity to the shirt) Was it planted? I don’t want to go too far on this, cause I *think* it’s been strongly suggested her shirt was not found. If true that it wasn’t found, at least the idea has been planted. Morgan is found within 1 mile of his house, and her shirt is within 1 mile of his work?

He fits the bill. Too much. Maybe he’s the lesser of the two. Someone throwing all the circumstantial onto him… because who would ever believe young RSO over Mr. Good Guy/BG. Egads, this isn’t as clear in writing as it is in my head.

And, yes, gosh, can we get ONE more piece from LE? Even just to clear even one thing from the beginning of the timeline. Makes me think that LE HAS to be on the track. They don’t NEED info from the public. Ever since the day Gil spoke of holding her daughter’s lovely bones and gazing through her orbits into her cranium I have been stunned out of my views of death.

Gil is an incredible inspiration to me—I wonder if she realizes the trail she is blazing. She goes where others are afraid to go. Lighting the way with her brave words. And with her latest post she takes us even deeper—not only facing death, but embracing it, rolling in it.

I am amazed by her authenticity.

One thing I did notice in her post when she says she wants to experience everything with Morgan’s murder and death she says to “feel her bones, wear her shoes, and sniff her clothes.” We know the clothes and the bones were at the recovery site—could this mean the boots were too and Gil is aware of this?

Two more thoughts along these same “up front and personal with death” lines….

After reading suz’s comments about DNA I was wondering if fingernails would still be intact at that advanced stage of decomposition. I found an interesting site that details everything that happens to a body during and after death. Fingernails would separate from the bone but I imagine would still be in the recovery area. According to this article, cartilage and ligaments are the last things to decompose so if a body is partially skeletonized it will no longer have the soft areas like skin and organs.

Secondly, in regards to the “horrendous odor” that rumor has it Mr. Bass might have been investigating—I don’t know how such an odor could be possible at that stage of decomposition. According to this site, as the soft areas of the body begin to decompose various gases form to give off this foul odor. If decomposition has reached the stage of partial skeletonization then can we surmise that gases are no longer being produced since all soft body matter is gone?

Here is the site…beware anyone who has a weak stomach. I truly feel that talking about these sort of things is “okay” with Gil, and I am inspired to not be repulsed by it but yet see it for what it is.

My cheese has been on Mr. Cheese for a while, but information I can find is scant at best – limited mostly to family names (which in this area can be hard to decipher if you, like me, don’t personally know the area). I thoroughly appreciate Blink and J2K as well as other posters for their information they have offered and found out about him.

However, I will say this. I can see Mr. Cheese and Mr. “Bifflet”, who do live extremely close to one-another, forming a friendship due to their criminal pasts and similarities in personality, bumming around the country-side together causing trouble, their secrets being embarrassments to their families, and God knows what else. But that still leaves the question, if Mr. Cheese is involved, was it a random abduction at the arena or did he know her. Where is the connection? Did they meet and have been friends for a while without her knowing his past? Was a mutual friend the connection?

P.S. My first concert was New Kids on the Block. I puff-painted a pink t-shirt with “I love Donnie.” Let the flogging commence.

    Re B comment:
Here is the TIP. Here is the Burg.

To clarify, I am not making that allegation whatsoever. I am saying until there is a classification to the fire, it’s coincidences should be excluded if possible.

J2K makes very compelling arguments, as well as others, that it is unrelated.

I find it very strange that although local coverage covered many fires, that the first article as back as 2003 that I could find, on a fire of that size and scale, or any fire, is the one that took place the evening a RSO status gets updated, and Morgan is found at dusk before the incident call is closed. Who left the Sutherland property to respond to Anchorage Farm?

One thing I have had trouble digesting myself, and it takes much practice, is that sometimes things are just a coincidence.
Data should be interpreted as a “whole”. Lastly, use your own judgement, I am often wrong.

  17. cvillenative says:

Blink, did you really get a concussion when you fell and hit your chin? First of all, I hope you are feeling better from that. I realize you might be kidding about the concussion, but we have spent a lot of time speculating that Morgan may have gotten a head injury when she fell and hit her chin while still inside the JPJ. That would have explained her odd behavior of leaving the arena and her behavior in the parking lot. If you got a concussion from your fall on your chin, that would tell us this is possible. Just wondering.

I don’t think it has been verified “how” Morgan got that injury so I don’t wish to speculate on it.

To your question though, yes I did black out for a few seconds, if Morgan fell like that in any capacity, there is no doubt in my mind it “jarred her” at a minimum, anything else I would offer would be speculative as we are not sure how she injured her chin exactly.

My Dr. told me he has seen people receive concussions from elbows to the chin, not just falls, so in theory it seems to be possible.

Take Back the Night rally in memory of Morgan Harrington

BLACKSBURG—The twenty-first annual Take Back the Night Rally and March in Blacksburg will be held on Thursday, March 25, in loving memory of Morgan Harrington.  Morgan disappeared on October 17, 2009, outside a Metallica concert in Charlottesville.  In January her body was found on a farm about 10 miles south of where she was last seen.
The purpose of this rally and candlelight march is to bring our community together to protest violence against women and to promote awareness of attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that perpetuate this violence.  Womanspace, which organizes this event, encourages everyone to take action to change our society—a society in which women have reason to fear being out alone at night.
Participants will assemble between 6:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on the Drillfield in front of the chapel at Virginia Tech. The rally will be held between 7:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Participants will then march through campus and downtown Blacksburg, returning to the Drillfield for a closing celebration.  The march route is accessible for disabled persons.  (The rain location is the Wesley Foundation at the corner of Roanoke and Otey Streets.)

—–As soon as several offenses, such as fires, stalking, or murder, are linked and attributed by the police to one and the same unknown suspect, it is crucial to look at his early crimes to determine where the suspect might live. In most cases, the offender starts out in his “comfort zone”, which means close to where he lives or works, or where he feels emotionally comfortable, for example around his family or friends – that’s why it’s crucial to start with the early crimes of a suspect. As the self-confidence and obsession with his own “power” grows, so does his activity radius, making an arrest more difficult. Furthermore, in multiple homicides the killer is usually of the same race as his victim. In most cases, there is a triggering trauma leading to the escalation. The two most common precipitating stressors are loss of work or loss of love; but any type of hardship, particularly an economic one, can trigger the violent outburst. The stability that provided a certain pattern of life is suddenly taken away and nothing is holding him back from acting out his fantasies any longer.

justice4morgan/bluewillow: I think you mean Dave Gardner, right? There are multiple Dan’s in this case so it’s easy to confuse.

Alexandra- I’m with you. It’s the judges and the system. The laws that are in place are *pretty* good minus the 3 strikes disaster. It’s the opportunity to plea down and the ass backwards laws that put the nonviolent drug offenders away for a disproportionate amount of time that are so frustrating. The system could do a lot better at keeping the public safe by keeping the most violent and likely to re-offend offenders behind bars. Or if they insist on turning 30 year sentences into 3 year “deals” they need to thin out the registry so that resources can be used to strictly monitor those offenders who are violent and most likely to re-offend.

Sorry to go on O/T, but many have asked what we can do. I don’t have the short term answer as I think there is long term work to be done outside of the criminal justice system as well. It is well documented that many offenders are victims of sexual abuse themselves. Many, through no fault of their own, never receive the help that they need and deserve to effectively cope with the trauma of their own sexual abuse. And so they go on to repeat the cycle. I am in no way suggesting that these guys get a pass or our pity. I am suggesting, however, that we somehow make it easier for families to do the socially responsible thing and get their young family members help if they become victims of sexual abuse. I am asking that we somehow make it easier for people to reach out if they start having inappropriate thoughts (at this point if you admit to having the desire it’s almost just as bad as committing the act, so why would anyone ask for help? ) It will take a major shift in our thinking and belief systems. These people are sick and not just in the demented way and their crimes invoke physical, gut wrenching reactions. If we can open up the door for young victims, their families, and those who are contemplating acting on sexually inappropriate thoughts so that they can safely come forward and ask for and receive help without being fearful of being shamed, exposed, killed or put in jail, we may be able to make some progress. I see this door opening here on this very site with pleas to local families to get help for their loved ones. Families have a social responsibility to get their loved ones help if members in their particular family become victims of sexual abuse. We have a social responsibility to create a non-judgmental climate so people can safely request help. Both of these things must happen to ensure that ALL of our children remain safe.

Last fall, here in California around the time Morgan went missing, a 14 year old boy invited his 4 year old neighbor into his house to play. He took the little 4 year old into the bathroom and sodomized him. After he was finished, the little boy hit his head and started to cry. To keep him from telling on him, the 14 year old started the bathtub, drowned the boy and stuffed his body in the clothes dryer. (I am having a physical reaction (yet again) as I write this and find it very difficult to “buy into” my own suggestions above.) It turns out, this 14 year old may have never even had a chance to begin with. His dad is a RSO who was incarcerated during the time this murder took place. Knowing what we know about the abuse cycle, it is very possible that this 14 year old may have been a victim himself, and his father may have been as well when he was a child. If this father had received help when he was young (if needed), I wonder how many could have been spared living through the nightmare of sexual abuse and its aftermath.

Every time I look at EMH’s photo I wonder about him. What happened to him? Did he need help at some point too? Does he need help NOW?

  29. justiceformorgan says:

When I clued in to the fact that the house fire happened before Morgan’s remains were found, I began to doubt a connection. Acho made an excellent point however, the house fire occurred the day after EMH was re-registered as a violent SO. Could it be the contact from LE requiring him to re-register was a trigger resulting in arson? Or, could it be the contact from LE was an indication to him that he better cover up possible evidence?

I wonder if there was anything happening (party, etc) at that house the night of the concert or if everyone from the house was out, possibly watching Metallica.

  30. suz says:

Hey, shoes! (not boots, but close enough—more subtle—look how it went right past me even though i saw the boots in my mind’s eye when i read that) Very good, Acho! Of course that’s only troubling to the killer if the boots were indeed not with the body…

mosaic, yeah—there had to be enough tissue left to create a horrible smell. The snow must have managed to preserve some, but adter reading that site you linked to, I think it’s got to be dna from her clothing that they,d be trying to match—nothing from her person. I wonder if the buzzards went after her at all, or if they kindly never did?

  31. suz says:

jessejane, I took Blink’s clue to mean the TIP of the iceBERG, but…i have no idea what it would mean, lol, so maybe i’m wrong.

  32. suz says:

eloise, thanks for posting that cell phone tower map; no wonder they have cruddy signals out there. You need to be in the middle of three towers to triangulate a signal, and it looks like there aren’t enough to do that.

  33. suz says:

I’m thinking hairs from the scene are going to be our best bet.

    snip:

Similarly, crime scene hairs may help place a victim in probative relevant locations. Examples are:

    * Hair under a victim’s fingernails or in the victim’s hand
    * Hair trapped in a cracked windshield in a vehicular homicide (can place individuals in certain seats)
    * Hair superimposed on blood or other liquids at the crime scene
    * Pubic hairs in a sexual assault where the perpetrator has worn a condom
    * Hair recovered from wrappings on the body or the body bag
    * Hair recovered at autopsy
    * Hair stuck on the murder weapon, tape bindings, or ligatures
    * Hair collected from probative locations on clothing (inside underwear)
    * Hair in the mouth, throat, vagina, or rectum
    * Hair in a discarded mask or abandoned getaway vehicle
    * Hair adhering to bumper or undercarriage of a hit-and-run vehicle
    * Hair from the suspect’s vehicle (trunk or passenger seat)
    * Hair in the mechanism or tape of an explosive device

  34. keekee says:

    hi ya blink -

would it surprise you to know that an attendee of the metallica concert and one of the “renters” of the burnt house share a last name?

In this case, no? Which are you referring to?
    B

  35. suz says:

I’m also holding out hope for a shoe print in the clay at the remains site, since the ground was at least damp. Prolly won’t ID anyone that way (unless it’s an unusual shoe, like a Bruno Magli—-heh), but if you already have a suspect and need to put him at the scene, then the shoe print could come into play. If multiple perps, shoe prints would tell us that, too.

  36. juliemooly says:

I also had the thought Gil’s writings referenced Morgan’s boots and clothes were recovered with her remains at the Anchorage Farm site. I didn’t believe the 15th Street “shirt sighting” because that shirt was described by a witness as having a picture of the band on it, whereas Morgan’s shirt just contained the word “Pantera”. Also, Mr. Bass stated he saw what looked to be dark clothing.

But then I started doubting myself, because I wondered if clothes found on a victim are ever returned to next-of-kin. And I mean EVER, even after the bad guys have been locked up and the keys thrown away. I would have thought they’d be kept in evidence in perpetuity. But then I thought, “well, I’m just reading WAY too much into a piece of Gil’s writing that is probably metaphorical anyway”. Anyone?
    ———————————————————————-
Regarding the fire, Blink’s clue above about the TIP of the Burg is too enticing. I previously haven’t been able to get past the fact that the fire started BEFORE Morgan was found, hence the incredible timing if it was related. Also, what evidence could have possibly been in that house, occupied by 4 people who could have been at least somewhat complicit in its cover-up, that would have warranted burning it down, with the people in it? Granted, they all got out, but I am having a hard time with high count of people this would bring us to as being involved in this crime combined with the fact that not one has talked.
(R.I.P. puppy in burnt house. I love most animals more than a lot of people on this earth; that made me so sad that the dog died in that fire).

There’s Morgan’s ‘friends’ (at least 3); the bad guys (let’s say 2-4); the fire starter(at least 1); the burnt house residents, if separate from the fire starter (4); who else? A JPJ parking lot dope dealer, if separate from the bad guys(1-2)? That’s like a dozen people. Some of them could be one and the same (bad guys and fire starter and dope dealer). Some of them could be irrelevant to the actual crime (‘friends’).

I guess I’m just feeling a little whiny this morning because I want the heavens to open up and pour information down on me that helps me make sense of all the speculations and Albemarle county scandals and land deals and the incredible pool of possible POI’s we have here in this area. Whew!

  37. suz says:

juliemooly, OR morgan HHs and gets picked up by a local loner weirdo who assaults, kills, and disposes of her body all by his onesies, which is why he might be hard to find.

  38. acho says:

JulieMooley, please don’t feel whiny. I tip into the half-empty glass more often than I should. This morning, I face a plate full of the typical reasons for me to venture into the cranky zone. Yet today, I feel bright and optimistic.

(Maybe it’s b/c I just got my first. ever. biscuit. I had no idea that would feel so good. Geez. But I think it’s b/c Observer, Skyler, and so many of you trying to make a CHANGE [like that FB moniker, hope it works] for women have inspired me. I am overflowing with admiration and affection for Gil Harrington, who truly is a trailblazer, Mosaic, I agree. It is a brutal, ages-old battle, but all of you give me such a feeling of hope and empowerment. I’m ready to change my calling. B, all credit for these feelings ultimately to you and bright Morgan for bringing this crowd together.)

  39. alexandra says:

suz, I was referring to the tickets. DC was a last minute stand in for his girlfriend , M. Nichols, I think. Very strange changes in plan.

  40. anotherB says:

In complete ignorance of the US justice system, a few speculations. In my experience, there are only two ways how someone can get away with repeated, serious criminal offenses: family connections (no need to explain this one) and evidence that he was suffering from mental disease.

If someone was actually charged, as opposed to the whole thing being covered up, it is usually the latter.

If he is suffering from a mental disease, he does in fact need help. It is a matter of neurotransmitters being out of balance, and in the majority of cases, it is treatable. If it is not, or if there is evidence that he is inclined to discontinue his medication because of the side effects, society has to be protected from him, and he belongs to a secure facility where he can be constantly monitored.

Now, I have no idea how insanity is defined in the US. Could anybody help me out and provide the necessary background information? Can an insane person still be sentenced in a court of law? Or can the court only send him into psychiatric care?

Yesterday, I had a look at Greene County. It does not appear to be very densely populated. Does it have specialized facilities? There are contact phone numbers for juvenile parole officers on their website. But what happens with psychiatric cases?

  41. suz says:

Hmmm, good point about evidence being returned to the next of kin. I am sure Gil did not shy away from the sights and smells of Morgan’s remains. She prolly wouldn’t be able to touch the clothing though, would she?

I am certain that any article of any evidentiary value was not returned to Gil. I am certain the jewelry she was wearing was processed appropriately.
    B

  42. suz says:

Thanks, alexandra. I was fuzzy on the ticket thing but it does ring a bell. Why do you find that strange?

  43. JustTheFacts says:

KeeKee said ”anyway, you may already know, but thought i would mention that his ggrandma is from a landholding north garden family. as most old virginia families, they parcel out plots of land as gifts to the next generation and so on. one of these plots once held a rented house that burned to the ground in the wee hours of january 26th. this fest trotting widely grinning curly haired boy seems to be cousins with the owners”
    —–

Breeden is a very common name in Charlottesville and the surrounding counties. (As common as Shiflett or Morris.) You can’t call someone cousins just because they have the same last name. His grandmother was from Northern Virginia, not North Garden.

I agree with that KeeKee and I am going to ask you to be specific, I have to be fair and present something as fact, I have to have you back it up.

  44. suz says:

yoshi, I think we van pity sex offenders without giving them a pass.

  45. alexandra says:

Judi, I’m with you. “That’s why!”

  46. JustTheFacts says:

She also didn’t inherit any land. The land she did own was closer to town and bought as an investment, so it wouldn’t exactly make sense to give away pieces of it.

  47. alexandra says:

Suz, I find it strange in hindsight of Morgan’s murder. change of driver, Morgan’s car, ticket holders, no pictures, secrecy.
When someone is missing and it’s already been 11 days that she’s missing, it’s strange that her friends didn’t say right away that THEY had her car.

  48. keekee says:

i will not post a family tree here, but i will say that family connections are true. i did not say ever that wf’s grandmother inherited land. reread what i wrote. my findings are to illustrate the myriad of connections between people in this current scene. it serves the purpose of showing how someone may have knowledge of property or even may have visited a certain house. nowhere do i state facts that any one person was even present at the housefire.

cville is not a metropolis and it is common to have last names spread liberally throughout the area. my family is mixed right in there. that said, there are some cville natives mentioned on boc that have no familial connection whatsoever to those being researched.

I did not ask you to post a tree, I have that information, I am asking you to support what you said, for instance, by the initials you posted, I am not even sure y’all are talking about the same people. I have an obligation to support what is said on here and keep things as factual as possible, that’s my only agenda.
    B

  49. Cat says:

“…wear her shoes” could also indicate Gil’s desire to experience the entire situation, the positive and the negative. “Shoes” are a common symbolic representation of appreciating another’s perception.

  50. Concerned Mom says:

    http://www.publicintegrity.org/investigations/campus_assault/articles/entry/1838/

This is just one story of one rape that occured at one university to one young lady.
Unfortunately, this one happenned at my beloved alma mater. I love UVA and my dear daughter is doing everything she can to ensure that she gets into UVA. I am not in any way “bashing” UVA, and I know this goes on all over the world, but I am so disgusted with how it is handled at UVA. How can I encourage my daughter to go to a university that tells her when she is raped she can’t disclose the person’s name or she will be breaking the honor code and expelled??
We must change ours laws to protect women and I think we need to do it school by school, city by city, state by state.

We can’t just sit back and let this happen to our daughters. No more.
