Charlottesville, VA– On the evening of one of the most anticipated musical events of her young 20 years, Morgan Dana Harrington, 20, disappeared from the Metallica Concert at JPJ on October 17, 2009. After months of investigative efforts involving four different law enforcement jurisdictions, Morgan’s skeletal remains were found by Anchorage Farm owner David Bass on January 26, 2010.

Upon the recovery of Morgans remains, many parallels of her life reflected her love of the musical community in general, but also, the surrounding venues she attended previously, such as bonnarooallgood, the rooster walk, and floydfest. Bamboozler Charlottesville is rife with heritage, musical talent, eclectic artisans and those wanting to be a part of it, nightly, across the vast bucolic landscape. As a tribute to Morgan Harrington’s love of the Indi music scene, blinkoncrime.com will explore some of the culture and artists she embraced.

I know how you feel. I’ve come back to certain potential POI’s months after I had dismissed them. There’s been so many unknowns and then twists and turns in this case it does make it feel like we’re just going in circles at times. I know I can’t say for certain if or when this case will be solved, but after all this time it is good to see that so many of us are still here looking for answers and a resolution.

And Adair – you’re welcome to come along for the winding ride too!

Honestly, for me, when I think tshirt displayed on 1 of 3 bushes in front of someone’s apartment, I am thinking that is a jealous girlfriend move.

Did someone “learn what he did”?

You don’t mean jealous ex-girlfriend, do you? As in not even jealous of Morgan, necessarily, but of new relationship? I was not thinking on those lines but your words make me wonder.

Jealous perhaps that maybe she figured out he may have been involved, or that he might not have been where he said was on 10/17/09. Just providing my first impression, could be wrong.

I re-read the hook article which you should read if you haven’t read yet: http://www.readthehook.com/blog/index.php/2010/02/01/multiple-riddles-harringtons-body-creates-new-mysteries-angles/

I was thinking why would blink change her mind — I remember her saying that she didn’t think it was Morgan’s shirt. So what would cause her to change her mind?

The obvious — LE evidence confirmed it was Morgan’s shirt. If that is true — Blink wouldn’t confirm that to us unless LE had confirmed it to the general public. And maybe Rader did that when he mentioned they have physical evidence.

    Another reason – who?
An association with in the music circle. Some one who commented in the article, someone who lives at the address, someone who has a connection to the Grady address and AF Etc.

I hope they are getting close to an arrest. J4M.

MsL – Thank you for responding to my post about all the missing women “in that area”. I’m lucky enough to be alive today to enjoy the morning sunlight gleaming through my window here 5 hours north in New Jersey this morning and view anywhere in Virginia as “that area”. My bad. But I’m thinking , hey, this creep has wheels. I don’t think this was his first murder and I doubt it’s his last (unless he’s caught soon.) This lowlife feels entitled. Entitled to just go out there and take a life, and try to get away with it. Someone mentioned that the Rt 29 stalker dispersed his victims’ clothing about (not sure if this is true and I need to find the link). And I can’t get that out of my mind, especially reading that the Pantera shirt could be Morgan’s. But I’ll put that Rt29stalker connection aside for now and jump on the next round of the hamster wheel.

Cadillac – I still to this day hate escalators.

Yoshi – I can say hyperfocus in 241 different languages including pig latin. I hope they arrest this creep soon. My fingers are getting tired.

Frankly, I don’t believe there will be any new developments/arrests before all forensic testing is complete. While I can understand the frustration, IMO it’s to be expected.

LE and the Harrington family themselves have said that it will take MANY MONTHS (statement from Feb 19) before all testing will be complete.

The medical examiner stated 5 – 6 months before they will release their DNA analysis. (again, statement from late Feb.)

Whether or not you take these statements at face value, reading between the lines, I believe there is a specific reason the public was given this 5-6 month timeline.

    Patience, folks. Patience.

    Questions on the T-shirt:

How close are the “bushes” to the road; i.e. are they close enough to throw a balled up T-shirt out the window of a passing car and hit?

If not, how was the T-shirt displayed? Was it balled up and tossed- or was it “spread-eagled” on top of the bushes with the Pantera logo in plain sight?

What is the set up of the apartment building… are the bushes near a door that leads to a single apartment…or does the entrance lead to a common area for several apartments?

  16. sunshine says:

So, if the t-shirt found is Morgan’s and it was found in the beginning of November, I would also be under the impression that it was planted there. I do find it interesting that it was planted there at least 2 months before Morgan’s body was found.

Why would the perp(s) plant Morgan’s t-shirt in a location where it was sure to be found when Morgan hadn’t even been found yet? I can understand if maybe it was planted there AFTER Morgan was found if the perp(s) were trying to mislead the investigation, but at that point in time, I still believe that the perp(s) were pretty confident she wasn’t going to be found, at least not anytime soon.

To me, this says one of two things.

1)Maybe in the beginning of the investigation, the police got a little too close for comfort to one or both of the perps, and one of them panicked and planted the shirt there for a specific reason. Maybe to take the heat off of them and onto a different line of thinking for the investigators, or a different geographical location.

2)As Blink stated, it could have been an angry girlfriend who put the t-shirt there. If this is the case, why would she pick that location to place the t-shirt? Why those bushes? If this were the case, I would think that maybe one of the Perps lives in the area where the t-shirt was found.

  17. total amateur says:

This is an incredibly brazen and stupid move for a perp. Not only did they risk being seen, but they potentially handed LE critical evidence. A single hair, blood, sweat, fibers…etc., could provide a direct physical link.

Either the perp has no knowledge of forensics, or someone “in the know” wished to out them. But, if someone else wanted to do this, why not just call LE?

The shirt was planted BEFORE the body was found at AF. For this reason, I believe the perp planted it to lead LE away from AF. The shirt was found in the vicinity of JPJ, but north east, heading in the direct opposite direction of AF.

Questions that I would like to answer / have answered today, March 16th:

    1. Does BS, the musically talented resident of Grady Apts, know or have any reason to know EMH?

    2. Does CB know or have any reason to know EMH?

    3. Had Morgan ever met CB before Oct 17, 2009?

As a corollary to question #3, I want to point out not just CB’s obsession with unicorns, but also the preoccupation with hula hoops (sometimes flaming hula hoops) at some of his concerts. We have seen photos of Morgan and friends hula hooping at concerts. Is this really a thing that people, in general, do now? Or is it an ironic fad that is specific to a narrowly defined community, the members of which would tend to know each other? Educate me on hula hoops, plz.

  19. MsL says:

Phyl-Hey, there are far too many missing people, both female and male, all over this great country, I’m sure including NJ and most certainly our fair state. I just don’t want people to think that we here in the Charlottesville area are uncaring, or that there are multiple bodies lying around just waiting to be found. Poor Morgan, if she were the only one to have ever died here, is one more than should have happened. You are absolutely correct, in our mobile society, even being in a place where there’s never been a murder or disappearance doesn’t assure safety. That’s the reason I preach to my kids, I’m sure much more than they like, never, never get in a car with a stranger or even just a casual acquaintance and try to never walk alone especially nearing dark. Once, I was late picking up my youngest from practice, got caught in traffic from an accident just a block from where I worked. We lived within easy walking distance of her school, but I always told her, wait for me. Her coach suggested that she walk home but my dear little girl told her “no, Momma said she will pick me up and I know she will.” The coach stayed with her, but wasn’t happy with me when I showed up 20 minutes late. I didn’t really care how mad she was, my little one had remembered and did just what I had told her.

I haven’t read back through all of the posts here so I don’t know whether or not an earlier post has cleared moderation. I said in that post I think more should be done to publicize the missing. The Harringtons got their message out to the public, but so many go missing with hardly a peep.

i ain’t hangin on to nuthin’ negative…that was my whole point. you, in fact, directed me to my old held post that helped me better explain myself to blink. we may well have been saying the same thing all along and just did not understand each other. she heard me with my last post. i heard her. it is resolved.

life is too short to allow oneself to get shutdown by someone else’s words or even one’s own misunderstood words. the spoken and written word are always subject to individual interpretation. we all have our own perspective. it is not about right or wrong, but about having enough self-worth (not inflated ego) to stand up for oneself.

negativity is a pit that will suck a person dry and i refuse to have any of it floating above my head unresolved. i will work and work and work to make myself understood. my nature is to be a peace maker and mediator. i can laugh at myself and admit my mistakes, as i am well aware i am less than perfect. no worries.

a public forum leads to public scrutiny. it’s a given. there are not flamers on this site and i greatly appreciate that and would like it to remain so. it may seem petty to you, but i felt misunderstood and tried to defend myself with honor. my intention was not to have a flamefest or smallminded catfight.

many people stay silent when they feel wronged or misunderstood and we cannot read their minds. it’s got to be put out there for at least two people to interpret, discuss, and clarify. often, imagination is much worse than reality and unresolved issues grow huge for no good reason. many times angry outbursts directed toward others is really anger toward self that is projected elsewhere because it was never resolved.

it’s my opinion (ever subject to objection) that resolution of a misunderstanding is positive. it is also very important that i state it was never my desire to be recognized for any research because we all do good work here.

now i would like to go back to being a member of the blinkster masses.

I wonder if the first search for Morgan (11/6) has anything to do with the shirt being found in early Nov.

If it was all over the local news that there was going to be a search going on that weekend, maybe they wanted the shirt to be found. Or could the fact that hundreds searched for Morgan caused the perp to panic and start ditching her things all around town??

re: (keekee, march 14 12:37 p.m.) “the angry kids are not always lost causes and certain dedicated families can make a huge difference in their lives and help turn them around to productive happy citizens. that said, it is imperative for parents to know who their children are friends with in real and cyber life. we must instruct our kids how to recognize red flags when they get to know someone. the first red flag is badmouthing one’s family. this is a sure sign of trouble. i don’t mean run of the mill “my mom sux cuz she put me on restriction”…i mean my parents suck, teachers suck, they’re stupid, and i wish they were dead.”

keekee—thanks for the good insight. I once heard a respected child psychologist say that if a teen is hateful toward one parent but fine with the other parent that is not a reason to be alarmed…typical of teen behavior. However if the hatred and contempt is for both parents that would be a red flag.

Unless the law changed in recent Gen. Assemblies, the results of a lie detector test is inadmissible in Va. — they’re too unreliable. Also, again, unless the law has recently changed, the Commonwealth’s Atty cannot ask a witness if they passed or failed. LE cannot force a person to take a lie detector test, and cannot make the statement in open court that suspect X refused to take one, or that he failed one. which is a good thing. For any situation, I think I’d be a basket case taking a lie detector test –

There were also persistent rumors that the hounds hit her scent at Wild Wings…Also interesting about the early focus on Pantops. It seems more and more like someone known to her, not a blitz attack. This would also explain the rumored debit card use.

Also, another rumor that has stuck with me is a sighting of a Morgan-like person getting into a van with two or three guys at 7-11 (I believe). One had tattoos. I believe this has also been ignored/discredited by LE, but now I feel some of this information may be true.

I know there have been a lot of media discrepancies in articles published regardingt the MH case.

Interesting to note in the Hook it article reports a resident calling the police to report the shirt in the bushes. In the Cville article it reports that several resident were interviewed by plain clothes officers with badges. Also noted there two men and a woman; and there wasn’t any UVA police cars around.

Another error in reporting — or did something else occur?

  37. MsL says:

I’ve warned you all before that I am a factual person with not a lot of imagination, but is it possible Morgan wore a different Pantera t-shirt to the concert than the one she left home wearing? My oldest is a bit of a clothes hog and has to be clean and neat at ALL costs. If she is going to be out for much of the day with a friend and then going out to eat with her family later, she has to carry at least a clean shirt just in case she gets dirty. Morgan seemed to love clothes and always looked very well groomed. If she was a big Pantera fan, it would be conceivable that she had more than one of their shirts. From reports, the shirt found on Grady Avenue didn’t seem to match what Mrs. Harrington said Morgan was wearing when she left home. Supposedly, that shirt had only the letters P A N T E R A in block letters while the shirt that was found had a picture of the band along with the name. The friends would have certainly known what she was wearing when she arrived in Charlottesville. Could it be that LE has never released an exact description of Morgan’s apparel as a means of eliminating false reports, like maybe Karen55 from Orange. I don’t recall that she said anything about seeing a picture on the shirt of the young woman at the Sheetz. What she noticed was the band name. Maybe LE preferred that the description be a bit vague. Release enough information that tips would come in, but not enough that they had to investigate every false report. Also, someone with more information than had been released could have “hung” himself by knowing too much.

Another project has just come in, so I’ll probably be crawling back into the “lurking” mode for awhile, but I’ll keep on reading and hoping for something to happen soon.

I believe that every poster at one time or another has contributed valuable insights and research to finding Morgan’s killers- If we didn’t believe that -none of us would be here or keep coming back.

We all want to help- its not about recognition or egos-I agree- its about collectively pooling our thoughts- ideas and research for the greater good- helping get a BG off the streets-

I also want to commend you for bringing it up to Blink and questioning what happened -instead of leaving BOC or letting yourself be immersed in negativity. Not everyone would have handled the situation as well as you guys did- especially with others trying to insert themselves into the conversation, perhaps hoping for a fight- So Kudos to you KK We appreciate you Kee Kee

Last thing -thanks to the lurker, “test” that gave us all something to think about TY

Wow acho, that’s an interesting site about Spiral. When you check out her class offerings it looks she’s spent a lot of time in Charlottesville, and even taught a class at Biscuit Run. Looks like she’s been to at least the past three Floydfests. She was here for a class as recently as the end of last November and beginning of December.

She’s really beautiful…is she from Charlottesville? What was her name before she got that startdust on her and became Spiral?

    Lizzy…it’s great to see you!

KeeKee your post is well said. I admire the way you stand up for what is right whether it is you or another person. You have contributed much and I am amazed at your research. Everyone has become emotionally involved in this case and I think everyone wants the preps to be found yesterday. We all admire Blink and the Harrington’s. Everyone here contributes much of their time to helping find justice for Morgan. It is frustrating to be looking one way and then the next minute things change. I think no one really knows we can only hope that an arrest is made eventually. I know that you and Blink have the same goal in mind J4M. Today is a new day. Thank you Blink for allowing us to come to your site and for all you do. Thank you to everyone here for trying to help justice prevail.

If I recall correctly, the shirt happened right after the Pantop searches. Do you think someone either a) panicked or b) was trying to lead LE to the BG (rather by a jealous GF or what have you)?

Wonder if the dogs really did hit behind Wild Wings.

I bet the monstrosity of Morgan’s fate has been scoffing unhurriedly away at your very beings for some time now. The same way in which you hid Morgan, you too, are being discovered. Tic-Toc, Tic-Toc…
In reference to the shirt, I understand the thinking logic in reference to If LE was scouring the whole area for any clues and “look what we came upon, what do you make of this”, -or was it literally tucked away in the bushes “waiting” to be found. Why there? Location, Location, Location, comes to mind again. Her bracelet was still with her. The necklace is still missing too (assumption) and of course the camera and the cell phone battery. If the friends were directly involved in this, it sure is a short amount of time “to do everything” unless there was some serious premeditation to this murder rather than opportunity and a series of unfortunate events, -AS WELL AS conspiracy. Based on the limited information that HAS been released, IMO Morgan’s fate was calculated and planned.
I know some discount LE occasionally, and to those who do, you must keep in mind that the responsibility to bring justice for Morgan is their responsibility. I truly believe there is so much positive thinking, energy, & prayers being poured into this incident that justice will be served so that this doesn’t happen to someone else by the same hands involved. .. …. .

Belleboyd, that blitz attack you read about in the C’ville Weekly sounds a lot like an attack I heard about just the other day. I’ve already mentioned it here, so I hesitate to repeat, and it’s still so far just a rumor. It involved an 18 year old girl who was waiting for a cab down on Water Street, about 2 or three blocks from where Mr. Martin was attacked. A car pulled up with 3 guys in it, they were trying to pull her in when another car came up from behind. An “off duty detective” helped fight them off and the car sped away. This happened sometime in mid to late February. I don’t know the girl or even who she is, but for some reason she did not want to report the incident. I’ve heard she was completely hysterical and freaked out. If this is true I hope she’s listening to the adults who are trying to encourage her to make the report. That’s all I know. Maybe Blink has a way of finding this stuff out.

morgan’s t-shirt being found on a bush is disturbing,i think it makes a light bulb go off into the brain of the perp, alters the profile for me ,im not sure how yet,but it shows the working of a mind that is working, not leaving it behind and trying to forget and create distance.if someone else were to place it there as in ex girlfriend, then you think he lives there,or close by?so girlfriend (if it was )wanted to taunt him?i’m not getting it,i would want him caught,if i was chicken shit,i’d throw it on a bush at the police station,or apartment building bush closest.

This is an interesting website http://www.ucrime.com/va/university+of+virginia
It shows a map of crimes, broken down by type, around university campuses and you can input a date range.

re: the dogs hitting on Morgan’s scent at Wild Wing Cafe –

Wild Wing Cafe is VERY close to Maya, where CB performed at 10:00 pm on the night of Oct 17. Wild Wing Cafe and the Amtrak station share a huge gravel parking lot that is one of the only convenient places to park in that area. It is very possible that someone going to a show at Maya on a Saturday night would park in the Wild Wing Cafe parking lot. It is usually free parking there, sometimes they charge a flat rate of a few bucks.
