North Garden, VA– Morgan Harrington, the 20 year old fair-haired, radiant beauty, was brutally murdered after disappearing from the John Paul Jones arena the evening of October 17, 2009.

Morgan Bridge

Morgans remains were recovered the morning of January 26, 2010 in a hayfield on Anchorage Farm, owned by David and Nancy Bass.

Since Morgan was found by Mr. Bass that blackest of days in January, there has been rampant speculation about her last hours and how she ended up in the creek bed of total strangers.

A sequence of events and incidents in the days and hours preceding and following the January 26, 2010, discovery of Morgan Harrington’s skeletal remains on Anchorage Farm continues to attract attention from pundits and volunteers dedicated to Morgan’s cause.

Although naysayers point to a lack of a viable connection, and police have disavowed a link, others say emergency services runs to a nearby fire and also other responses which are  not supported by publicly available documentation has led to calls for more complete disclosure to eliminate any connection or chance of prank calls to misdirect or busy first responders.

The editors of www.blinkoncrime.com present  a series of events occurring in Albemarle County, VA that pose the question:

What the Hell is going on and what does it have to do with Morgan Harrington’s murder?

The Monsoons of Albemarle County …. PD

Ok, maybe I meant “The monsoor”. Karl Monsoor that is.

Former Officer Karl Monsoor had been tugging on the shirtail of ACPD for years before he finally left with pocketfuls of sunshine. Almost 500 G’s.

It is not my intention to be glib, it is my intention to say that as one of the youngest police departments in the country, enacted in 1983, this tank needed algeacide before this past March.

Death By Cop.. January 1, 2010

Colby Eppard driver seatColby Eppard, described by some as a cross between Gomer Pyle and cool hand luke, had the rawest of deals growing up in Greene County.

According to his foster-mommy-aunt, Tammy Harlow Cox, Colby was hit by a car at a very young age and suffered a brain injury that apparently served to shape his future of home upheavel and juvenile detention facilities.

Ms. Cox, to whom Colby Eppard was entrusted for a time as a foster parent, is no stranger to the judicial system. Tammy was arrested for admittedly having sex with 3 High School seniors athletes on the Varsity Football Team, where her own sons attended. The same school Colby elected to leave without his diploma.

Colby’s family recalls better times, and I don’t think anyone believes this is the last we have heard of this case.

Specifically under VA statute, Greene County Captain Randall Snead was out of his jurisdiction, both when he was called about Colby stealing the patrol car and the fact that he was in North Garden, Albemarle County, looking for it. It would seem the Greene County Roster could accommodate a deputy vs. a captain to respond, no?  Keep in mind, EVERY responding officer was put on desk duty pending the investigation, through at least February 9th, 2010.

While the attorney for the Commonwealth, Denise Lunsford has cleared all officers from all participating counties involved, none of the dash cams have been released despite requests through The Freedom of Information Act..

According to Ms. Lunsford, in an incident that spanned almost 70 miles and over 2 and a half hours where traffic was rerouted and stringers were used, Colby Eppard was allegedly wielding the 20 gauge Greene County Issue out the windows, not one LEO attempted to engage or respond to Eppard in an effort to get him to pull over, or negotiate his surrender at any time.

In fact, according to statements from Snead, Albemarle Deputies Fields and Marden, they were all in place on the south junction of 20 “in the event” he went that way, yet, they did not block traffic until after the stinger caused Eppard to crash.

My biggest question regarding this incident is: Did anyone ask Colby Eppard why he would take the truck and 2 rifles on New Years day ending up in Albemarle County?

Was it related to a New Years Eve occurrance of a friend, family member or associate of his? After Sgt. Hutchinson loses Eppard near the Nelson line, the next time he is seen is parked on Green Creek Rd, back in Albemarle.

What route did he take from 29 South to end up there? Was he seeking Red Hill Road where the overdose call came in to EMS the night before?

By all accounts he was a troubled young man with challenges throughout his young 18 years.

Additionally corroborated by those that knew him, he was never violent to anyone. There were over 6 Law Enforcement Officers from 4 different jurisdictions this man encountered before he hit just below Carters Bridge; 14 by the time the stolen vehicle ended up in the ditch.

Not one of them spoke or attempted to speak to Colby Wade Eppard at anytime he was on the police radio for over 2 hours. Was there an order given not to?

How is it that not one officer responded to Eppards threats, which were even being monitored by the media at this point in an effort to have a peaceful result to this situation?

Did Eppard have a cell phone with him and have the records been checked?

Cort EppardDid he call anyone, like Amber Rogers, his off-again girlfriend of 3 years? His brother Courtney or any of his friends?

In the preliminary release by the Virginia State Police, it stated Eppard returned to his crashed 2006 Ford Ranger truck prior to stealing the unmarked Green Cty car. If he were attempting to have a police stand off, why would he not take the two rifles he brought with him? He left his guns behind.

It also states in the report that Eppard is seen on the video from the STOLEN police car retrieving the shotgun from the trunk and loading it, how is that possible considering all the cameras are dash mounted?

Can someone explain to me how the officers have been cleared, but the footage of  both Eppards actions and their responses, the very evidence of the incident cannot be released? One of the officers involved, Caleb Marden, was fired for reasons nobody is willing to comment on.

There is only ONE way that is legal; if is part of an ONGOING investigation.

So what investigation is it an active part of?

(Editors note: If Mr. Eppard put ANYONE’s safety at risk through his actions, in the end, I say what happened to him was done to protect others, which I support. That said, as it was not so long ago a Virginia Conservation Officer was indicted for the involuntary manslaughter of a 16 year old kid whose girlfriend he was trying to grab out of his moving car, and later had the charges dismissed, I think it is worthy of conversation.)

Byrd Watching DungSmoke – January 22, 2010

James Byrd Gunn, resident or squatter at 5027 Stoney Point Rd, Barboursville, VA owned by Piedmont Manor Land Trust, was busted for possession of Marijuana with intent to deliver, and possession of a firearm as a felon.

In a SEPERATE arrest  on January 23rd, 2010, Jeremy Manning– Smith Manning Smith(JMS) with the cool  144 acre pad in Keswick, also indicted on 4/5/2010 , may turn to the fivefold plan to help him out. JMS keeps a cool $55K recession-proof wad around for emergencies. Mr. Manning-Smith is a long time composter, although he never really states what he is growing.

Lisa Powers, copperworks and the fivefold planners say burn the dung. They are pals, although I doubt she is securing his bond.

Cash Runs OUT.. January 24th, 2010

Jason Todd Cash, with NO CHARGES OR WARRANTS PENDING allegedly tries to kill a cop when he is stopped in Nelson Cty in a vehicle registered to someone in Buckingham County. Remind you of anyone? He ran from the scene, leaving the vehicle and eluded police on foot.

The vehicle was impounded. He apparently is driving on a revoked license, which county has that occurred in? We will get back to J-money.

NON Garden Party…. January 25th

At approximately 10PM on the evening of January 25, Albemarle County Fire and rescue services responds to a call at the 37 acre farm of award winning gardening and horticulture experts John Sauer and his wife Cathy Clary. It is listed as a tactical incident rescue and as of March 24, 2010 is still an open incident.  What was it? Who or what needed rescuing?

Mr. Sauer is the long-time gardner for Carr’s Hill, the residence of the President of UVA. Carr’s Hill was the former site of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity until 2003 when it was moved by the city to it’s current location on Culbreth. Ms. Clary is a horticulture proffessor at UVA, and most recently taught a home landscaping course which included a field trip the afternoon of Saturday October 17, 2009.

The Sauers are also members of Piedmont Landscaping Association, which is open to anyone in the landscaping field and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Interestingly enough, there were several fire alarm activations on the UVA campus on this same day. Faulkner House reported a residential fire around 4:10 am.

Threes Company,  Four is Combustible..Jan 26th

Sutherland Firefd

Sometime after 10PM, the residential fire at 3323 Sutherland Rd breaks out.

This would be the fire that is still an OPEN INCIDENT.

This fire,as you can see, was no curling-iron-left-on.

It allegedly started after the residents were asleep, although they had all apparently packed their belongings and were on a month to month lease, 2 had already moved out.

In fact, according to Peruvian vacationer and dog owner of Blanca, the pit bull that perished in the blaze, he was not aware of the fire until days after the fact because he was with friends in Peru.

Kevin Terlep

Convenient, if you ask me, as he has a previous weed distribution and subsequent traffic charge in December 2009.

Meet new pup to the left. In fairness to fair-weather k9’s of America, he was only asking for dog-sitting, and not on the lease.  Choose your kenneling wisely people.

The residential fire at the 3000 block of Sutherland Rd has some issues. For starters, you have the first press release regarding the possible accidental fire since as far back as 2003 before a cause determination has been made.

Additionally the release itself appears to have missed the fact that approximately 2 hours after the last apparatus departs, there is an additional call back to the property requiring 12 responders within minutes of the discovery of Morgan Harrington’s remains. They may have literally passed each other on Route 29; they definitely would have heard the dispatcher.

Sutherland

The former owner of the Sutherland property is buried on Anchorage Farm. A relative of the current owners has hunted the Anchorage Farm property.

The band in the image on the left is pictured practicing in the Sutherland home.

A firefighter, whose identity blinkoncrime is choosing to withhold, who fought the fire, without sleeping took an impromptu trip to New Jersey with his ..”aunt, uncle, cousin, his cousins uncle and a friend..” at 10:23PM January 27th, driving straight through without stopping and returned to North Garden by 1:45PM January 28th.  Through his own facebook postings, he spends the bulk of his time when he is not volunteering for the North Garden Fire Department at his cousins; a Toco Hill address also listed as the home for a recently released registered sex offender.

Retired Greene Sheriff Takes His Own Life.. January 28

There is no evidence to suggest that William “Willie” Linwood Morris’s suicide has anything in common with the Morgan Harrington’s case directly, with the exception that there are obviously folks that knew him as well as other individuals being discussed. I have spoken with a family member, and an individual who has known him for twenty years and by those accounts Willie was in deep discomfort from the tinnicus he suffered from.

He took care of every detail prior to ending his life behind the barn on his farm in Stanardsville, VA, including withdrawing the cash for his own funeral.

Willie Morris was found by Captain Randall Snead, who was allegedly supposed to be on desk duty until the Eppard case investigation was completed.  According to Commonwealth Attorney Denise Lunsford, that was not completed until February 9, 2010, almost 2 weeks later.

Cash is Busted on a Tip.. March 19

Not long out of Nelson County jail for a non-violent offense, Jason Todd Cash is being held in Albemarle County jail since his arrest around 1am the morning of Friday March 19.

One has to wonder if the tip about where Jmoney was hanging out on Secretary Sand Rd from his kin in Amherst.

Clint Cash, a registered sex offender was arrested in December on a felony parole violation and is facing some heavy time . His wife Donna, had just pled guilty to a misdemeanor the day before the tip came in regarding JT Cash’s whereabouts and received a suspended sentence.

Jason Cash was apprehended with help from Bink, the new Albemarle County k9 when the house he was staying in on Secretary Sands was raided and he attempted to stay hidden inside.

What are Coincidences… What are clues?

The aforementioned volunteer for NGVFD lives in same stretch of Secretary Sands Rd.

Yet another relative of Jason Cash, a registered Sex Offender, shares an employer with the cousin of “volunteer”, and volunteer; specializing in outdoor landscape lighting.

Colby Eppard was stopped in the area of Green Creek Rd that is a large parcel of land owned by  Cash family member.

As far as making allegations in this report, there are none. The investigation of the events contained herein are entirely based on public information and witness accounts.

I have come to the conclusion that while we cannot say specifically which one of the issues discussed directly relate to the murder of Morgan Harrington, a primary or secondary scene integral to the investigation of same, and the hunt for her killer(s), but I do believe the incidents need to explored fully in a public forum.

To the “chain of events” part of your comment, I would like to point out that EMH re-registered 1/25/2010, my sources say that fire started prior to midnight, so it would have been the evening on 1/25/2010, and Morgan was actually found the next morning, 1/26/2010, not the 27th.
    B

Presumably, the reason EMH had to re-register on 1/25 is that he was brought in for questioning and discovered to be out-of-date.

So why was he questioned on 1/25?

I would think it was based on his (then) work address *and* the discovery of the shirt?

That would be my guess, since it certainly wasn’t the proximity of his supposed home address to the yet-undiscovered-Morgan.

So maybe the shirt planter was aware enough of LE procedure that someone finding the shirt might have flagged EMH, figuring he was most vulnerable of the group to discovery anyone, known offender, his DNA on record and on the shirt?

Or could EMH be so dumb as to plant something on the way to work that might implicate himself?

I am still suspicious of the manner in which it was found, let alone the way it got there. Isn’t an important part of misdirection making sure something is found. How could someone guarantee it would be found and not overlooked. I’m not sure what I think of BE’s story.

On a side note, this does not feel like a female move to me. It’s too risky, with too little to gain without repercussions. If you scammed that shirt to turn someone in or as a form of confessing, you’d put it in a bag or envelope and get it to the police in a way that would remain anonymous, not make the The Hook or V-ville weekly.

Another stray thought, are we sure there’s not a Karla Holmolka (sp) type helping BG? A more active rather than passive role? Maybe even inside the arena or bathroom area? I’m completely thinking out loud, just to see if it stokes anyone else’s imagination.

Skyler — As a fellow member of the farmer’s union , i defended Mr Bass from the first arrows slung at him here . He could have turned his head the other way and tractered on or he could have used his tracter bucket to hide his discovery . He was very courageous ,went straight to report it ,submitted himself to exhaustive interrogation, turned his farm and records over to LE . People like to smear but so be it ! Yes all along the perp to me didn’t sound like anyone in her circle but someone older with LE knowledge or a criminal that somewhow tricked her to be under his crude control .

  3. DMB says:

I agree with skyler. I have never put any thought into why Mr. Bass was out in his fields that morning. I’m sure he was doing what every other land owner was doing after a storm, checking for damage.

However, I have to believe that the storm could have caused the perps to become paranoid. With all the damage in the area, I’m sure he/they had to have at least entertained the idea that Mr. Bass was going to go out into this field and check on his property as well. I wonder what they were thinking….Was her body moved due to the wind and the rain? Is someone going to find it?

Was it the perp’s paranoia that caused a house fire a night prior to Morgan’s remains being discovered? Just thinking out loud….

There’s a ton of information we all sort through every day, some related some unrelated. This is unrelated but I dig for everything and anything. There was a civil case in back in 2007 between Happy Hippie JBH II and a Mr. Robert Adkins/R & E Logging in which the disposition was a closed judgment per Franklin County General District Court. Only because we’ve been on the subject of landscapers/farmhands and now 60 mph winds and possible trees down on AF’s. -Any logging companies that cut trees or hauled off timber for Mr. Bass in the past I wonder? http://www.courts.state.va.us/caseinfo/home.html

It seems like I’ve seen a few Palmyra coincidental connections lately via the “space” and etc.

Regarding Morgan and the activities in the ladies room. They were important enough for Dr.Harrington speak about it in a press conference.I see some are revisiting this part of the timeline.

I don’t have a link to post Dr. Harrington’s interview but I think a lot of the regulars here may remember his comments on the subject.

I’m wondering if this particular moment in the timeline is known now to still be of relevence to her death(clue of sorts) or now regarded as a young lady having an ordinary restroom stop.

Thank you for your time if already answered and a most gracious thanks for everyones continued diligence on this case.R.

    Hi Blink and Everyone.

I just want to let you all know that I’m here and reading. I don’t have anything new to add so I’m just here. There are some really good posts and ideas, with new information. Local, thank you for taking a trip out to North Gardens. Your thoughts on the entry from Chopin were interesting. I look forward to any more information or posts on that and hearing from Acho.

Blink, I’m glad to hear that your Mom is doing well. Prayers for her and a complete recovery.

To all who have shared, Fish, Hummingbird, Justice, Mary, Sobermom, Kathy and Fawn, and any others; you never know what your story may mean to someone else. Dr. Harrington reads here regularly and I just have a feeling that he nor Gil would find your survival stories out of place at all. Because of their dear daughter, Morgan, we were led to this sight. Look how knowing about Morgan has led others to speak out about their life experiences, which can lead others to become stronger and more hopeful that life will be brighter. Hearing about others can teach us to be more aware and perhaps prevent what happened to others from happening ourselves or someone else. So, dear friends, I say to you, thanks for sharing. You may have helped someone who really needed to hear and in return, I hope you feel better knowing you are among friends that care. Redly, I am with you, if someone is disturbed by conversations on this site, they should scroll on past and find what their looking for. I, also, scrolled past Joe America’s post after reading the first line, simply because I remembered his last one quite a while back.

Welcome to new posters, TheNamelessOne and Joey, and any others!!!

Blink, I love your site. It may not be for everyone, but if it’s not, don’t come on it and try to knock the hard work done here by BOC and her posters. I think it’s okay to say that she doesn’t need anyone to tell her how to run her own news site. Blink, if you don’t want to post this, then don’t. I won’t be upset at all. I don’t let too many things get to me and usually don’t go off, but I won’t sit here biting my tongue, when the good dedicated posters here are insulted by someone who only posts every two or three months for the same purpose. That’s all on that, I promise.

It looks like rain here today. Blink, I’m back in Northern VA and will be posting from here for the next couple of weeks. Keep up the great work everyone!

The possibility of a female(s) being involved puts a whole new twist in this horrific murder. A jealous female can be very dangerous and a pack of females also (and adding drugs/alcohol to the mix). I keep thinking of a Zamora/Graham scenario. I mean no disrespect here, but Morgan could have consensually been with a BIB (or all 4?) even just hanging out, and later, enter the jealous GF(s).

    Zamora/Graham?

  9. mag603 says:

What if there were two bad guys (BG1 and BG2). BG1 committed the crime and told BG2 it was an “accident” so BG2 would help with a cover up.

Maybe BG2 was haunted and confided to his GF. When police came investigating, they were investigating BG2 and the GF wanted to protect her BF and found the shirt and put it out.

I guess the question would be — how did she get her hands on the shirt?

Dear Fawn I am so very sorry about what happened to your daughter and so glad you posted here. You are in my prayers , your daughter is in good hands with a mother like you.
I have been one of the people to share my personal story here, inspired by others and the Harringtons themselves. The chance to do this here on BOC on occasion whilst respecting other posters and that our main objective is to find Morgans’ killer in my opinion opens discussions about domestic violence, drugs, blaming the victim, and often results in the posting of resources available to the public or anyone that needs help in any of these areas. This has a positive outcome, and looks at the root of where violence begins in families and in society in general. Those who do not wish to read can scroll down.
I encourage the posters here not to “shut down” because of other posters and their opinions.
There are plenty of people here who appreciate getting to know the various personalities , minds, and souls who take the time to try to help Morgan and her family, and to come to terms with the painful reality that evil exists, and women and children are vulnerable. Also a little light relief goes along way at times. Skylers colorful stories of her garden, her son, critters in general, and Gils descriptions of red robins at the bird feeder blood red against the white snow are dovetailed into posts that ask unaskable questions about unspeakable subjects and graphically violent scenarios. Fawn — I didn’t read your post prior to posting this AM — I’m in such a time crunch w/ work — I can only add my support to you and your daughter in this terrible event.

I can only hope this did not happen in the great Commonwealth of Va. where the most this creep can get is five years w/ probably most of it suspended — if it did happen in Va., then immediately contact your state legislators and demand that they vote for a change in the sexual battery sentencing guidelines in next year’s General Assembly. It makes me chuckle when someone comes on a blog, obviously reads all the comments, then has the audacity to complain about the content of the comments and the blog in general. Joe America, it’s unfortunate you find BOC too “mushy, off topic”, whatever, but there are a few ways to avoid getting your undies all wedged up in your butt crack….as some have said before, just scroll past the personal stuff if you’re not interested, honestly, no one will feel slighted if you do that. And if you’re THAT put off by this forum, why not just avoid it? It’s pretty simple, really. If you have something to contribute, we are all ears (eyes) here, so please add your thoughts, we won’t expect any warm and fuzzies from you, and that’s ok.

This just popped into my head the other day…Morgan MUST have been freezing that night once she found herself outside. Were there any sweatshirt/teeshirt vendors in the parking lot or RV lot? Maybe she was looking for something to put over her Pantera tee, and the BIB took her over to the RV lot, where she could buy a sweatshirt.

Sky, I don’t think anyone believes Mr. Bass had anything to do with Morgan’s demise, but when you look at those pics from TD Bone, and where she was found, it’s just SO remote, and she was in a little spot surrounded by trees, so for us “not-so-rural” folks, it’s mind-boggling that he would stumble upon her there. That farm is HUGE, imo, so that’s why I questioned it, thought maybe some things he heard may have prompted him to go out on the tractor. But after hearing how bad the weather was, and it’s routine to go out and check the “back 40″, I guess I can buy that it was happenstance.

I still say the tee shirt was planted to draw attention to those apartments and someone who lives there, but as a distraction from someone/somewhere else.

Oh, lastly, is there any truth that the cruiser-rockin’, suspended/demoted/fired cops were doin’ the nasty while parked at AF?

  17. Roxie says:

I made these comments on a prior thread…. Dr Harrington had mentioned certain places that “needed to be searched” prior to Morgans discovery on AF- and mentions “29 south”- which in local speak would refer to an area that would encompass the AF area.

I am sorry that I do not have the specific reference to link to his comments but I did see these in press release…..just prior to Jan 26…

    then
    Lo and Behold

Morgan is found just prior to the search planned by the CUE center during the break in the horrible winter weather.

I am NOT inferring Mr Farmer Bass in any way im/com plicit in Morgan’s demise BUT I do think he had reasons to be out checking his perimeter other than just the *cows*

  18. ross says:

After all, they were the last people who actually knew Morgan personally who saw her alive that we know of. <–Ross

WRT to the friends, they were not the last people to see her alive, that would be the BB players and the unsubs in the RV lot. <—B

    “who actually knew Morgan personally”

Although I do have a question you might know the answer to; how do we, or LE know about the BB players seeing Morgan. Did they come forth, or did some one else see her with them, and if so, how come we have never heard who they (the some one else) were?

They did not come forth. They were ID’d by process of elimination first through the limo driver, and through UVA Athletics staff. They were interviewed. VSP and UVA refused to comment on their names citing policy and ongoing investigation.

I learned of them via 2 sources, only one of the players interviewed is still with the team.

  19. skyler says:

I wish this were my original thought, but it is not. It came as a result of a conversation I was having w/ someone else about Morgan’s shirt.

I will be the first to admit that I have come to Morgan’s story full of emotion. It is emotion and just total sadness in the loss of this beautiful young woman’s life and to the loss of the Harringtons of their daughter and sister. I still continually worry about Alex.

But I’ve been trying to clear my thought process of emotion and just look at all of this rationally — firmly keeping Occam’s Razor that the simplest explanation is usually the more likely explanation at the forefront of my mind.

I do not for one second believe Morgan was HH’g on that bridge to get a ride back to Harrisonburg. I don’t believe she was HH’g at all. I do believe it is possible she was walking on that bridge, but not that she was HH’g. I do not believe her presence in Charlottesville ended on that bridge at 9:30 PM. I think the 9:30 timeframe was arrived at because that is the time the battery was removed from her cell phone.

I believe it’s more than likely Morgan, accompanied either by people she already knew, or met — ie, BIB — went to a party somewhere in the city limits of C-vlle, and this brought up my convo about the shirt —

*Suppose* (what else can we do at this point) — Morgan was at a party or was w/ other people and she spilled something on her shirt — I spilled a glass of water all over me this AM, and it’s what took my thinking in this direction — suppose someone else gave her another shirt to change into and for whatever reason, left the Pantera shirt behind when she left that location — WT claims he “may” have seen her over by a souvenier table — maybe she bought a Metallica Tour t-shirt and changed her shirt (my kid bought 2 at the concert — put the first one over the Metallica t-shirt he was already wearing, and nabbed the second one as he was leaving the arena post concert)

Suppose the person in possession of the Pantera tee shirt got really scared after hearing about her being missing — not that they had anything to do w/ that, but possibly know whom she may have left w/ — and by the time early Nov. rolls around, they’ve got the shirt, cops are everywhere, they’re young and they don’t know what to do — are afraid for their own safety to take the shirt to LE, or afraid because maybe they have pot or something on a prior arrest (that’s total speculation on my part) — anyway, they are afraid to give up the shirt or even anonymously give the name they suspect to the cops, but wanted to send a “clue” to the police — so they get rid of the shirt AND send a clue to LE by leaving it on the bush outside the apt. house — which could have been done under the cover of night — which it got dark early in Nov. — and that LE bumbled again — didn’t believe it was her shirt and didn’t understand it could be a “clue” as to who did this …

Eloise, I think Blink wondered about the field trip location just in case it took place, sayyyy, at AF or Blandemar farms—somewhere close to where Morgan’s remains ended up.

I think now that we know it was just on the campus, we can move on. It was just an open data point that needed closure.

As for Bass, Skyler, I am sure you are 100% right but we can’t just give Bass a pass en masse—there was a dead girl on HIS property and HE found her! Those sorts of things always deserve a closer look, just in case.

  21. skyler says:

Roxie, I really respect your posts and even as late as Friday would have agreed w/ you as to Farmer Bass — however, my feelings about him have changed.

I just can’t go into reasons why they have changed, but they have.

Let’s go back to the simpliest of explanations.

There had been a terrible terrible storm the preceding weekend. Area schools were closed because of it on that fateful Monday morning. AF had sustained damage in other areas of the property, enough so that Mr. Bass had hired a crew to come out and clear up the downed trees and debris.

Now, if you were in his position, remembering that other properties — large and small — around the area had also sustained damage, and that clean-up crews may be difficult to come by — when you have those crews at your property cleaning up other storm debris, to go check to see if there is other property damage while they’re still there — and 730 acres is allotta land — impractical to traverse on foot and impassible in some areas by even 4WD automobiles – - to get on the tractor to inspect the fence lines along the perimeter so they can be repaired while the crew is there so you don’t have to pay for a second visit, or to have them repair the damage while they are on your property because you don’t know when they will be free to come out again –

Morgan’s remains were found right by the fence on that little pasture. The Basses own the small strip of land immediately adjacent to the bottom of that pasture, but it’s double fenced — the land on the other side of the small strip of land is a part of Waldenmar Farm.

I lived in richmond for over 20 years — believe me, I know how difficult it is to get a heat pump repair crew out to your house during the hot spells and the cold spells — I’m still waiting for the home warranty people to get my broken water heater fixed !

I started out up near the stage, looked around and realized I was probably one of the oldest ones in there, so spent most of the show watching from the lawn, looking for our perps. (LOL. I also saw dozens of policemen, medics, and event staff…a very safe place if you STAY TOGETHER before and after the show.) I thought about you as I watched several girls to the left of the stage doing their hoola-hoops, one even with swirly lights. Looked like a bunch of girls hoola-hooping in cheerios. Next time I’m taking a hoop.

I still don’t see why the shirt was planted at all unless it was for a specific reason. Again, on November 5th, no one but those involved knew for sure that Morgan was no longer alive. Blink has stated she believes those responsible thought Morgan would never be found at AF. If you hide the body in such a way to hope to conceal it from ever being found, why provide a clue that something bad has potentially happened to her and that she is likely still in the area? And why do it in such a prominent way? Way more to this in my opinion.

I’m trying to read thru quickly — Cvlle — thanks for your first-hand observation of the area in and around Cvlle on the 26th — I don’t know if you live in the city or one of the counties, but this just backs up my strong knowing that Mr. Bass wasn’t out there looking for Morgan — I think the only people more surprised that she was there was LE !

Or possibly whoever threw her on AF.

From what little we do know, I don’t believe Morgan’s remains were found where they were originally placed — if you compare the google images and the Albemarle website aerial images, which were taken in the March 2009 timeframe — there is a small strip of trees on the left side of that pasture described as a dry creek bed — in years gone by, that small creek flows down and intersects and becomes a part of the Hardware River, which runs pretty much parallel to Red Hill Road.

Now, I don’t know how anybody else thinks of this, but when I “conjure” up in my mind the image of a “river” — I think of the sprawling James or Appomatox Rivers — the James is almost a mile across — In reality, the Hardware “river” is really not much more than a flowing creek w/ very deep embankments on either side. Let me be clear — you could not drive an SUV or even a tractor across the Hardware “River’ — the banks are too steep — making it also very treacherous to cross on foot —

It’s certainly possible w/ all of the rain, that the gushing water running down that hill where she was found, pushed her body out of the creek bed into the more open field area — also, you cannot ignore animal predation — dogs have been barking like crazy here the last week — turned on the news and saw my neighbor talking to a reporter about the big black bear who’d gotten into his trash the night before — I live 2 miles from the Appomatox River — my country lane ends at a farm that leads right down to the river, making it about a 1 mile walk as the crow flies —

When I was in Blandemar in Feb., w/ 2 ft of snow on the ground, deer were everywhere and there were animal tracks of every kind everywhere — animals trying desperately to find food —

I have buzzards that roost in the trees across the street — they are massive — sadly, a huge German Shepherd was hit by a car in the last month — my son and I saw where the driver had placed him off the road into a field — when we returned 2 hours later — buzzards had picked that body up and moved it all the way to the middle of the field and were still fighting amongst themselves and picking it up — if I hadn’t seen it w/ my own eyes I would never have believed it.

this is gross, and please, Dr. H, if you have reading this, please skip this part, but it was hot in Nov. insects that usually may have died out due to cold weather and frost were alive and multiplying — insects alone can clean a discomposing body in under 72 hours.

Some form of nature moved Morgan’s remains from her initial placement in that strip of woods in the dry creek bed to where she was found by Mr. Bass on the morning of the 26th.

It had nothing to do w/ registering RSO’s or the house fire at Southerland —

It was truly a miracle, maybe guided by the prayers of the masses, that her remains were found at all.

I too had read that one of the recovery/search groups stated that they believe they would of found MH’s remains by the end of the month (Jan. or Feb.) anyway because they had planned to search the exact area of (AF’s) where her remains were found. Now that’s got me thinking… Blink said a few posts back that she believed someone may have “rang” Mr. Bass. While some speculate a BG or someone within the “circle of knows” “rang him”, perhaps Mr. Bass was contacted about his private property being searched in advance. Perhaps he mentioned this planned search and it spooked/tipped the person(s) or perhaps as I remember someone mentioning in several posts back too that someone within the “circle of knows” may of injected themselves into the search efforts and could explain a lot in reference not only to the presumed planted shirt, but the fire too, all in conjunction.

Sorry to be critical but as these threads get chattier and wackier one must wade through weeks of posts to find a nugget or two which represent actual insights into this case.

    >>TO: joeamerica, re: your 4/19, 8:01pm post:

I could not have said it better. Thank you. <<

Observer, was this really you ? Is someone posting using your name ?

I guess Joe’s post about the rock is referring to me — and that’s okay — I’m a big girl, and if my little rock gave the H’s one minute of thought other than about the murder of their daughter — well, hell, good on me.

But I was simply shocked about “your concurrence” as to his post, and quite frankly, it hurt my feelings — a lot — not about the rock, I don’t care what anybody else in the world thinks about that; I did it for the H’s, but about your concurrence on friends of this site posting in their times of need of our emotional and sometimes spiritual support, especially after you posting about the loss of your baby brother, the anniversary of his death, and the recent death of your close friend from cancer where you sang at her funeral.

BOC is unique unto all others forums out there. Not better. Not worse. Unique. We are friends here. We post sometimes trivial things, which lighten the load, and I have laughed sometimes until I cried. We share the sorrows of our lives, and I have cried at those times, too.

And then we sleuth and add everything we can to help aid the mystery of what happened to Morgan.

I considered you a friend to this forum, too. I attributed your statements made after the discovery of her body that an arrest would be coming any day now to your zeal and heartfelt enthusiasm for this case to achieve closure, even though I knew, from my own extensive background in the legal field, that an arrest would be a long-time coming, if ever.

However, that said, I still extend to you my heartfelt deepest sympathy on the loss of your beloved brother and friend. And my heartfelt support to others who come here in whatever life situations they may be facing, as I know I can find support here in the future if I find myself in that position.

I can only sign this, perplexed …

TO: Chad, Moonchime, and anyone else who may have attempted to send a rock to “Morgan’s ROCKS” in Charlottesville, VA:

    Mystery solved.

I just received a personal, profuse, and repeated apology from the Postmaster here in Charlottesville. According to them, they made an error when opening this post office box for me/”Morgan’s ROCKS”. Prior to my visit to the post office today, their records mistakenly still listed the box as “vacant”. [Fortunately my receipt served as documentation confirming the date the post office box was opened and paid for.]

When I inquired what had happened with packages that had been sent prior to today to “Morgan ROCKS” (as I knew at least two had been sent, according to BOC posters), he indicated that they might either be: a) re-routed to my home address (as an alternate or home address is requested, if available, when opening a post office box); or b) returned to sender. Inasmuch as I have rec’d no such packages at home, I might assume that they were returned to sender or (perhaps a greater possibility) have ended-up in the postal ether-world. [Translation: never to be seen again.]

I was assured that the post office’s error has been corrected as of today so anyone who would still like to send (or, re-send) a rock for Morgan’s memorial on the Copeley Rd. bridge may feel free to do so. The address again is:

    “Morgan’s ROCKS”

  33. Roxanne says:

Does anyone know if Morgan’s shirt was homemade or an original “T” bought from the store? Could it be unique in that sense?
The style of shirt may make a difference now of the women in the concert videos. A plain style T or one similar that rests differently on the body. Which one is wearing the silver braclet?
After viewing the maps I am convinced there seems to be two paths or two people. It reminds me of someone looking for another but unsure of which way they went and ending up at the same location.
Also, how often are the dumpsters emptied in the area where the shirt was found? The blue one in the pic is looking rather full. If the shirt had been planted to be found, re-searched in January, how likely would the area be searched a third and final time? That may be the best time to get rid of something when the area appears to have been completely exhausted.
In regards to location I may be interested in a sudden or high number of 911 calls pertaining to the one area or apartment. Who might they be? Also, landlords may not always involve the authorities of tenant matters.
There was a case where the mother and step dad were involved in a missing person matter with her daughter. After the press release, …etc, Le went to work solving the crime as the couple’s relationship began to slowly fall apart they started to party, fight/argue. The neighbors noticed the tension/change and reported to Le their behavior. The Police started putting the pieces together which led them to a conviction. Like the old saying goes, where there’s smoke-there’s fire.

EMH UNemployed by early Feb, RE-employed in March (date unclear?), and hired by new company in April.

Jan. 1–Colby Eppard is killed by authorities, including Randall Snead
Jan. 28-Sheriff Morris takes own life, found by Randall Snead
    Jan. 29-Feb. 2–first reports of shirt found….

what are the odds that Randall Snead had either direct or indirect knowledge of Morgan’s fate, and even had possession of the shirt…

Snead has the wherewithall, and ability to pin Morgan’s fate on Eppard, and Colby knows this…

Snead has went to Morris for advice and counsel, and even thrown his plan out there to Willie…Willie adamantly advises against, and encourages Snead to alert authorities of what he knows…Snead won’t budge…

Snead, acting out his plan, much to the disagreement of Willie, plants the Pantera shirt on the 28th, and tells Willie as much…Willie now tells Snead he can no longer live with this, and must alert authorities…Snead obliges…forces Willie to write note…kills Willie with Willie’s gun…sounds alarm…and finds Willie….

how is that for an original screenplay….??

Hi Skyler…I do know that there was a 1790 farmhouse on Blandemar in 1990 when Blanka Rosenstiel and her brother Waldemar Dowiak decided to develop the 1,400 acres. The brother and sister had come to this country in 1978…I assume in their late 30s or early 40s…so I don’t know the arrangements or what was involved. The farmhouse at 1745 Chopin Drive is today owned by Richard and Johanna Keeling, but I don’t know if they live there. It’s not does not look like it’s part of “Blandemar Estates” except for the fact that it’s within the development. You can go to gisweb.albemarle.org and look up 1745 Chopin Dr., and when you can chose a theme, scroll down to orthophotos 2009. You can see just how close the house is to the field where Morgan was found. I don’t know about the fences between the properties, but if Mr. Bass was just getting up hay and not letting his cows back there it may not be much more than wire.

If there was a kid who grew up in that house, or was good friends with someone who did…he may have wandered all over that area, hunted, and camped. When you’re a kid you don’t pay much attention to property lines, and that field at the back of Anchorage may have been somewhere flat they went to hang out. To have access to that farmhouse now, I would think you’d either have to live there, work somewhere within the Estate, or otherwise be familiar to the neighbors.

I think it’s the history of Blandemar we should be looking at, not Anchorage Farms.

    EXCEPT..

I am telling you it is my opinion that the shirt was planted there, by someone with knowledge, and should we consider the fact that this issue brings you and Mr. Speaker back after not posting in forever on the same day?”

I don’t believe Blink and Observer were insulting posters or saying that what has been posted is worthless even though they both replied basically the same to “joeamerica.” What I took from their comments was, take a breath, refresh and open your minds to other possibilities. Others certainly might have interpreted their comments differently. Since we don’t know who was involved in Morgan’s death, how do we know there isn’t a connection to other similar, and maybe not so similar events in a wider area than Charlottesville? So many theories and “suspects” have been discussed endlessly with little new left to be said. I just don’t believe LE is so stupid that they haven’t investigated the obvious suspects this way and that, up and down.

As for “chatting” I can see lots of benefit to posters relating their own personal stories. Therapeutic in my opinion. I must admit, and this is just my opinion, I usually skip over the thank you for recognizing me, why didn’t you recognize me, etc. comments. If others like reading them, that is their prerogative, just not what I’m looking for when I come here to read.

I think folks are used to Observer being very literal and deliberate in her posts, and I legitimately think both of us were not entertaining the negative portions of Joe A’s post.. That should not infer anything other than I am not giving it my energy.

So is there any validation to the account on another site stating that the limo driver saw a hispanic-looking male following a girl matching Morgan’s description? If so, was this one of the BBplayers, or someone else? Blink, can you confirm or debunk this account?

If the limo driver was in position to witness the BBplayer “interaction”, did he see the BIB? How could he not, if Morgan was with or near that same group that the accountant saw leaving the arena area, and again in the RV lot a few minutes later? Were the BIB involved with Morgan’s interaction with the BBplayers? Did the BBplayers see the BIB?

Did the limo driver or BBplayers describe Morgan’s hair as being “down” or tied back? Grandma described the girl she saw as having her hair pulled back. Why was this account debunked… do we know a good answer for that? How many blonde haired girls could have been in that location around 9:30 having some sort of a problem? How many could have lost their purse in that lot? How many were last seen around 9:30 on Copeley Bridge? How many never came home? Are we to believe there was a Morgan “look-a-like” in the same area at the same time on the same night she was murdered, being stalked by someone and having an altercation?

I am not aware of the limo driver stating there was a hispanic man.

I could buy that Bass would check his property after a big storm. What I have doubt about is the timing. Not only in relation to the RSO re-registering, and the house fire…but he’s got a 700+ acre property to check. He found Morgan by 8:30 am. He’d have to wait for enough daylight in order to be able to see, so the earliest that would be is about 7am. By his own estimate the location she was found was over a mile from his house, and even if he went to that area first, it still takes some time via tractor. Given that it was in a “remote” area of his property – it begs the question, of all 700+ acres why would he beeline over to that specific area first? An area that previously was of such little concern to him that by his own account he only goes to once or twice per year. I have seen the excellent photos/maps that TD Bone has done, and it is evident that the area Morgan was found in would not be a logical starting point to check the property for downed fences and trees. I could buy it if it was reported that Bass had cause for concern about that area for reasons he’s not at liberty to discuss publicly…that would make sense. But I don’t buy that Bass just happened upon her skeletal remains first thing in the morning in that location as if by some fluke or miracle.
In answer to an earlier question about where Dan C. was (presumably after the concert), Blink responded by saying with his girlfriend. (not a direct quote, just from memory). Early on I thought it was reported that initially it was the girlfriend who was supposed to go to the concert, but for some reason Dan C. ended up going instead. I don’t recall a reason being given as to why. I’m just wondering if it is known whether this arrangement was agreeable to the girlfriend or whether it was something that may have caused some conflict?

Blink, are you of the opinion that LE found Morgan’s boots…and are keeping this extremely close to the vest?

With all the whispers of boots being found behind a restaurant, near railroad tracks, and all….

Morgan’s boots were not found by LE. A man’s boot was found, but I am not aware of any correlation to Morgan.

CW – that is the same track I am on with Mr Bass…
I think he was very surprised to find Morgan on his farm but he went out first to scout……
    that said.
    who would have alerted him?
I believe someone asking permission to search the farm based on Dr Harrington’s comments.

skyler- I think if I read correctly, we agree that Mr Bass was not expecting to find Morgan there at his farm…..

Slowroller’s post has been rolling around and around my head for months now…. the concentric circles, Ven diagrams….. please pass the Execedrin-
hold the oxycodone….. I still think there is some role for JADE in all of this.

sitting in Roanoke tonight, thinking of Morgan

Dominion Virginia Power is the major provider of electric service in Charlottesville

Also, does anyone know what power company services AF? Specifically, the line through the woods from Red Hill Road?
