North Garden, VA– Morgan Harrington, the 20 year old fair-haired, radiant beauty, was brutally murdered after disappearing from the John Paul Jones arena the evening of October 17, 2009.

Morgan Bridge

Morgans remains were recovered the morning of January 26, 2010 in a hayfield on Anchorage Farm, owned by David and Nancy Bass.

Since Morgan was found by Mr. Bass that blackest of days in January, there has been rampant speculation about her last hours and how she ended up in the creek bed of total strangers.

A sequence of events and incidents in the days and hours preceding and following the January 26, 2010, discovery of Morgan Harrington’s skeletal remains on Anchorage Farm continues to attract attention from pundits and volunteers dedicated to Morgan’s cause.

Although naysayers point to a lack of a viable connection, and police have disavowed a link, others say emergency services runs to a nearby fire and also other responses which are  not supported by publicly available documentation has led to calls for more complete disclosure to eliminate any connection or chance of prank calls to misdirect or busy first responders.

The editors of www.blinkoncrime.com present  a series of events occurring in Albemarle County, VA that pose the question:

What the Hell is going on and what does it have to do with Morgan Harrington’s murder?

The Monsoons of Albemarle County …. PD

Ok, maybe I meant “The monsoor”. Karl Monsoor that is.

Former Officer Karl Monsoor had been tugging on the shirtail of ACPD for years before he finally left with pocketfuls of sunshine. Almost 500 G’s.

It is not my intention to be glib, it is my intention to say that as one of the youngest police departments in the country, enacted in 1983, this tank needed algeacide before this past March.

Death By Cop.. January 1, 2010

Colby Eppard driver seatColby Eppard, described by some as a cross between Gomer Pyle and cool hand luke, had the rawest of deals growing up in Greene County.

According to his foster-mommy-aunt, Tammy Harlow Cox, Colby was hit by a car at a very young age and suffered a brain injury that apparently served to shape his future of home upheavel and juvenile detention facilities.

Ms. Cox, to whom Colby Eppard was entrusted for a time as a foster parent, is no stranger to the judicial system. Tammy was arrested for admittedly having sex with 3 High School seniors athletes on the Varsity Football Team, where her own sons attended. The same school Colby elected to leave without his diploma.

Colby’s family recalls better times, and I don’t think anyone believes this is the last we have heard of this case.

Specifically under VA statute, Greene County Captain Randall Snead was out of his jurisdiction, both when he was called about Colby stealing the patrol car and the fact that he was in North Garden, Albemarle County, looking for it. It would seem the Greene County Roster could accommodate a deputy vs. a captain to respond, no?  Keep in mind, EVERY responding officer was put on desk duty pending the investigation, through at least February 9th, 2010.

While the attorney for the Commonwealth, Denise Lunsford has cleared all officers from all participating counties involved, none of the dash cams have been released despite requests through The Freedom of Information Act..

According to Ms. Lunsford, in an incident that spanned almost 70 miles and over 2 and a half hours where traffic was rerouted and stringers were used, Colby Eppard was allegedly wielding the 20 gauge Greene County Issue out the windows, not one LEO attempted to engage or respond to Eppard in an effort to get him to pull over, or negotiate his surrender at any time.

In fact, according to statements from Snead, Albemarle Deputies Fields and Marden, they were all in place on the south junction of 20 “in the event” he went that way, yet, they did not block traffic until after the stinger caused Eppard to crash.

My biggest question regarding this incident is: Did anyone ask Colby Eppard why he would take the truck and 2 rifles on New Years day ending up in Albemarle County?

Was it related to a New Years Eve occurrance of a friend, family member or associate of his? After Sgt. Hutchinson loses Eppard near the Nelson line, the next time he is seen is parked on Green Creek Rd, back in Albemarle.

What route did he take from 29 South to end up there? Was he seeking Red Hill Road where the overdose call came in to EMS the night before?

By all accounts he was a troubled young man with challenges throughout his young 18 years.

Additionally corroborated by those that knew him, he was never violent to anyone. There were over 6 Law Enforcement Officers from 4 different jurisdictions this man encountered before he hit just below Carters Bridge; 14 by the time the stolen vehicle ended up in the ditch.

Not one of them spoke or attempted to speak to Colby Wade Eppard at anytime he was on the police radio for over 2 hours. Was there an order given not to?

How is it that not one officer responded to Eppards threats, which were even being monitored by the media at this point in an effort to have a peaceful result to this situation?

Did Eppard have a cell phone with him and have the records been checked?

Cort EppardDid he call anyone, like Amber Rogers, his off-again girlfriend of 3 years? His brother Courtney or any of his friends?

In the preliminary release by the Virginia State Police, it stated Eppard returned to his crashed 2006 Ford Ranger truck prior to stealing the unmarked Green Cty car. If he were attempting to have a police stand off, why would he not take the two rifles he brought with him? He left his guns behind.

It also states in the report that Eppard is seen on the video from the STOLEN police car retrieving the shotgun from the trunk and loading it, how is that possible considering all the cameras are dash mounted?

Can someone explain to me how the officers have been cleared, but the footage of  both Eppards actions and their responses, the very evidence of the incident cannot be released? One of the officers involved, Caleb Marden, was fired for reasons nobody is willing to comment on.

There is only ONE way that is legal; if is part of an ONGOING investigation.

So what investigation is it an active part of?

(Editors note: If Mr. Eppard put ANYONE’s safety at risk through his actions, in the end, I say what happened to him was done to protect others, which I support. That said, as it was not so long ago a Virginia Conservation Officer was indicted for the involuntary manslaughter of a 16 year old kid whose girlfriend he was trying to grab out of his moving car, and later had the charges dismissed, I think it is worthy of conversation.)

Byrd Watching DungSmoke – January 22, 2010

Dung burning

James Byrd Gunn, resident or squatter at 5027 Stoney Point Rd, Barboursville, VA owned by Piedmont Manor Land Trust, was busted for possession of Marijuana with intent to deliver, and possession of a firearm as a felon.

In a SEPERATE arrest  on January 23rd, 2010, Jeremy Manning– Smith Manning Smith(JMS) with the cool  144 acre pad in Keswick, also indicted on 4/5/2010 , may turn to the fivefold plan to help him out. JMS keeps a cool $55K recession-proof wad around for emergencies. Mr. Manning-Smith is a long time composter, although he never really states what he is growing.

Lisa Powers, copperworks and the fivefold planners say burn the dung. They are pals, although I doubt she is securing his bond.

Cash Runs OUT.. January 24th, 2010

Jason Todd Cash, with NO CHARGES OR WARRANTS PENDING allegedly tries to kill a cop when he is stopped in Nelson Cty in a vehicle registered to someone in Buckingham County. Remind you of anyone? He ran from the scene, leaving the vehicle and eluded police on foot.

The vehicle was impounded. He apparently is driving on a revoked license, which county has that occurred in? We will get back to J-money.

NON Garden Party…. January 25th

At approximately 10PM on the evening of January 25, Albemarle County Fire and rescue services responds to a call at the 37 acre farm of award winning gardening and horticulture experts John Sauer and his wife Cathy Clary. It is listed as a tactical incident rescue and as of March 24, 2010 is still an open incident.  What was it? Who or what needed rescuing?

Mr. Sauer is the long-time gardner for Carr’s Hill, the residence of the President of UVA. Carr’s Hill was the former site of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity until 2003 when it was moved by the city to it’s current location on Culbreth. Ms. Clary is a horticulture proffessor at UVA, and most recently taught a home landscaping course which included a field trip the afternoon of Saturday October 17, 2009.

The Sauers are also members of Piedmont Landscaping Association, which is open to anyone in the landscaping field and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Interestingly enough, there were several fire alarm activations on the UVA campus on this same day. Faulkner House reported a residential fire around 4:10 am.

Threes Company,  Four is Combustible..Jan 26th

Sutherland Firefd

Sometime after 10PM, the residential fire at 3323 Sutherland Rd breaks out.

This would be the fire that is still an OPEN INCIDENT.

This fire,as you can see, was no curling-iron-left-on.

It allegedly started after the residents were asleep, although they had all apparently packed their belongings and were on a month to month lease, 2 had already moved out.

In fact, according to Peruvian vacationer and dog owner of Blanca, the pit bull that perished in the blaze, he was not aware of the fire until days after the fact because he was with friends in Peru.

Kevin Terlep

Convenient, if you ask me, as he has a previous weed distribution and subsequent traffic charge in December 2009.

Meet new pup to the left. In fairness to fair-weather k9’s of America, he was only asking for dog-sitting, and not on the lease.  Choose your kenneling wisely people.

The residential fire at the 3000 block of Sutherland Rd has some issues. For starters, you have the first press release regarding the possible accidental fire since as far back as 2003 before a cause determination has been made.

Additionally the release itself appears to have missed the fact that approximately 2 hours after the last apparatus departs, there is an additional call back to the property requiring 12 responders within minutes of the discovery of Morgan Harrington’s remains. They may have literally passed each other on Route 29; they definitely would have heard the dispatcher.

Sutherland

The former owner of the Sutherland property is buried on Anchorage Farm. A relative of the current owners has hunted the Anchorage Farm property.

The band in the image on the left is pictured practicing in the Sutherland home.

A firefighter, whose identity blinkoncrime is choosing to withhold, who fought the fire, without sleeping took an impromptu trip to New Jersey with his ..”aunt, uncle, cousin, his cousins uncle and a friend..” at 10:23PM January 27th, driving straight through without stopping and returned to North Garden by 1:45PM January 28th.  Through his own facebook postings, he spends the bulk of his time when he is not volunteering for the North Garden Fire Department at his cousins; a Toco Hill address also listed as the home for a recently released registered sex offender.

Retired Greene Sheriff Takes His Own Life.. January 28

There is no evidence to suggest that William “Willie” Linwood Morris’s suicide has anything in common with the Morgan Harrington’s case directly, with the exception that there are obviously folks that knew him as well as other individuals being discussed. I have spoken with a family member, and an individual who has known him for twenty years and by those accounts Willie was in deep discomfort from the tinnicus he suffered from.

He took care of every detail prior to ending his life behind the barn on his farm in Stanardsville, VA, including withdrawing the cash for his own funeral.

Willie Morris was found by Captain Randall Snead, who was allegedly supposed to be on desk duty until the Eppard case investigation was completed.  According to Commonwealth Attorney Denise Lunsford, that was not completed until February 9, 2010, almost 2 weeks later.

Cash is Busted on a Tip.. March 19

Not long out of Nelson County jail for a non-violent offense, Jason Todd Cash is being held in Albemarle County jail since his arrest around 1am the morning of Friday March 19.

One has to wonder if the tip about where Jmoney was hanging out on Secretary Sand Rd from his kin in Amherst.

Clint Cash, a registered sex offender was arrested in December on a felony parole violation and is facing some heavy time . His wife Donna, had just pled guilty to a misdemeanor the day before the tip came in regarding JT Cash’s whereabouts and received a suspended sentence.

Jason Cash was apprehended with help from Bink, the new Albemarle County k9 when the house he was staying in on Secretary Sands was raided and he attempted to stay hidden inside.

What are Coincidences… What are clues?

The aforementioned volunteer for NGVFD lives in same stretch of Secretary Sands Rd.

Yet another relative of Jason Cash, a registered Sex Offender, shares an employer with the cousin of “volunteer”, and volunteer; specializing in outdoor landscape lighting.

Colby Eppard was stopped in the area of Green Creek Rd that is a large parcel of land owned by  Cash family member.

As far as making allegations in this report, there are none. The investigation of the events contained herein are entirely based on public information and witness accounts.

I have come to the conclusion that while we cannot say specifically which one of the issues discussed directly relate to the murder of Morgan Harrington, a primary or secondary scene integral to the investigation of same, and the hunt for her killer(s), but I do believe the incidents need to explored fully in a public forum.

If Morgan went to a party or get-together wouldn’t there have been other people present at the party or get-together that would have recognized Morgan (and alerted LE)?

“Peggy, I would NEVER, EVER leave my friend outside, under any circumstances. Keep in mind, Morgan had just fallen in the damn bathroom. The only explanation that gives the friends a pass, imo, would be if she told them specifically where she was going, and what she was doing, and we all know that does not jibe with hitchhiking on the Copely bridge, now does it?”
    B

Well, if that were the case I might be willing to give them a pass, too. But that’s not happened–unless I’ve missed something.

As far as I can tell there was no secret rendezvous planned or were there any plans to hook up later (with her friends). IF Morgan told Sarah about her plans..Sarah has never shared that information with LE.

Have I completely misunderstood what you said and you think Sarah has given this info to LE and LE is just keeping this under wraps for investigative purposes?

I agree; it just doesn’t compute. If Bass was given a tip why did he not say so since he has a good reputation by all reports? Maybe the report he gave to the VSP names the person who tipped him off and the public story is a diversion?

TO: MsLliberty: Thank you sincerely for clarifying my intent in my earlier response to Joeamerica’s post. B also understood me well when she stated “…I legitimately think both of us were not entertaining the negative portions of Joe A’s post.” I apologize to anyone (inc. Mary and dear skyler, who I “heart” like so many others here) if the intent of my response was unclear. I have said before and will say again: I never, ever intend to denigrate the contributions of others, as they provide incredible insight I fail to possess. WRT to the perceived value of OT posts, well, my own OT posts here are prolific, so my feelings about that are hopefully clear.

TO: acho: You asked: “…What do you make of the firefighter we’ve discussed and that rapid drive to and from Jersey? The EMH step-sib from Waynesboro?” I wish I could offer you a substantive response to these very good questions, acho, but I must reserve comment on these individuals at this time.

TO: bob-dog, sobermom, fish, hummingbird, Mary, justice, Tarheelvr, Chad, and any others here who at any point in their life found themselves in a relationship that, looking back, they wished they left earlier because of mental, physical, or emotional abuse: I have only eight little words of (admittedly unsolicited) advice to you:

Please, please, please do not beat yourself up.

Each and every one of us here has at one time or another found ourselves in situations that in retrospect left us scratching our heads–or, more likely, kicking ourselves in the rear, sometimes repeatedly and with much gusto. We’ve each made terrible mistakes and exhibited poor judgment–some of us (myself included) more than just once or twice. [Would that it was just that infrequent in my long lifetime...]

All we can do is acknowledge our human frailties (we all put our pants on one leg at a time) and learn from our mistakes. [A wise person once said we learn more from our mistakes than from our successes. They were right--at least to my mind.] Most importantly, though, we must learn to forgive ourselves…just as we would forgive one another. I think that, of the two, the far greater struggle is in learning to forgive ourselves.

My closing thought on this is one I remind myself of often or as need be: in looking back at a terrible situation, if I can find even one grain of “knowledge” or learning from that situation, then it wasn’t all for naught. I try to take whatever seed of understanding that I might use later to help me grow…even if that understanding was borne of an earlier bad decision.

Please: do not beat yourself up. Instead, honor your personal strength and your courage that got you to where you are now, and celebrate the wonderful person you are today!

    B:
    1. I don’t know what’s been going on with your mom (I‘m still woefully behind on posts), but I’m glad to hear she’s doing well/better now. Moms are special, special people!
    2. I’m confused on the recovery of the shirt. It was reported to have been found on Nov. 11, but you indicated it was recovered on Nov. 5. The discrepancy of almost a week is puzzling. Are you able to shed any light publicly? If not, I understand. TIA. [And apologies if this has been covered earlier. I’m still pouring through personal email, work email, and old BOC posts...but at least all the laundry is finally caught up.]

TO: fawn: I am so very, very sorry to hear what happened to your daughter. You are absolutely right: rape is rape is rape. Regardless of the circumstances, the effects are devastating and long-lasting. I will keep your daughter (and you and your husband) in my prayers for healing. In the interim and if you can (and as difficult as it may sound right now), please try to begin to think of your daughter not as a “victim” of rape, but instead as a “survivor”. As strange as it may sound at first, and as subtle as the nuance may be, the word “survivor” can sometimes offer the first, tiny step in the healing process.

While I know it’s enormously difficult to fathom at this moment, in time your beloved daughter will hopefully learn to re-gain her personal power and find her way to wholeness. Perhaps the best gift you can give her right now is to help her in whatever way possible to re-gain that power and control over her life–something that was brutally taken away from her. I again offer prayers for her healing, and hope that you will take care of yourself too in this difficult, emotional process.

There are no easy answers or quick fixes…just love, compassion, and time for the healing process to unfold.

TO: skyler: You so aptly said “I swear, I do not believe this horrible event is as complicated as it seems. I think it is going to come down to probably a combination of alcohol-drug-induced rage that ended up in Morgan’s brutal murder by a coward. I think we are giving way too much credit to whomever did this. I have no facts, just a feeling, this is not someone who had gone to JPJ specifically looking for a “target” to murder. I think this is an incident that got out of control in the moment, a quick body dump because they are a coward, and that they have remained silent only to save their own cowardly hide or hides plural.”

    One word: Agreed.

  15. Duke says:

Blink … a couple of questions for you and BOC

    1) Six months from when Morgan was abducted and only two Press Conferences from Lieutenant Radar and the VSP. Isn’t it time for VSP to answer some questions, restate the timeline of events, sort out the facts from fiction, spell out what the missing pieces are?

Dan Harrington’s Mini Press Release on April 17th was extremely informative. Thanks, Dan.

    2) What is your thought about the possible link between the abduction of 23 year old Cassandra Morton on October 14, 2009 from Lynchburg, VA (less than 60 miles from where Morgan was abducted) and Morgan’s abduction? Cassandra’s dead body was found on December 1, 2009 in a remote area. Other than the condition of the corpse, there seems to be minimal information released or interest in her death.

    Duke

    Duke-

I think VSP is working diligently, this is an unbelievably complex case. There are more things going on in this region than one can fit in a box and it makes for difficult navigation.

I do not believe Morgans death is connected to Sandra Morton’s whatsoever, although I do believe the region in general has an active serial killer preying on young women and dumping them in camp sites.

    Re: the shirt

The only way I can see a girlfriend of one of the BG’s putting the shirt on the bushes is if she is doing it to put pressure on the other BG at her boyfriend’s request. If she knows him like I’m sure she knows him, and if she gets that gnawing at the pit of her stomach at the thought of him being angry like I am sure she gets, She would probably do everything in her power to keep him happy and would NOT try to be passive/aggressive with putting the shirt out there to implicate him. I would think she would do everything in her power to keep him happy to the best of her ability. If a girlfriend is involved, the only way I could see it happening is at her boyfriend/BG1′s request to implicate BG 2.

    My other possible theories…
    1. BG 2 wants to crack and tell his story. BG 1 says “no-way… your DNA is the only one on the shirt. Mine’s not and I’m not going to prison” and puts the shirt on the bushes to scare him to silence, which happens to be one street over from where searches were being conducted.

    2. BG finds the shirt was left behind and hides it in the bushes on his way to work. Good Samaritan finds it and puts it on the bushes for someone to pick up.

    3. Arrogant BG is saying “catch me if you can”

P.S. Fawn – I don’t even know what to say to comfort you. My 8 year old got hit by a rock today – not badly, no stitches – but my baby got hurt. I cannot fathom what your family must be going through. Please know you have my prayers tonight.

Every 4 hours a woman is killed due to domestic violence. If you know someone who is in a situation you can ask her to take this survey or you can take it with your knowledge to assess the risk.

Please everyone if you know anyone going through this or even suspect please point this out to them. I took the survey based on my previous marriage. My risk factor was an 8 of 10, scored 197 of 200 points. Not a surprise to me based on incidents that took place. This can help save a life.

With regard to speculation that the shirt was hidden or thrown under the bushes and a “good samaritan” found it and displayed it in plain sight so as to make it easier for the owner to find – I don’t buy that for a minute. If the bad guy did not want the shirt to be found, he would not have hidden it anywhere (either under the bushes, or in his cupboard where his mother or whoever could find it). Why not pour bleach all over the shirt, cut it up into hundreds of little pieces, burn those pieces and then bury the ashes? There are only 2 options here – either he makes sure the shirt is NEVER found (by completely destroying it) or he or someone else, for whatever reason, makes sure that the shirt IS found (by displaying it for all to see). That’s just my opinion!

We have a fire department that was a clubhouse for registered sex offenders, a county police force that took 61 shots to murder a brain-injured youth (think of a department of Barney Fifes with serious firepower), a house fire investigation that seems to go nowhere, a cock-and-bull story about how Morgan was found…and on and on, yet we are supposed to believe in the VSP? I would like to, I really would, but I gave up on Santa Clause and the Tooth Fairy a long time ago.

Yes George, I hear you, but think about what you just said-

Everything you just stated happened before Morgan was found, in Albemarle Cnty, which is policed by whom?

How would you like to be handed that hot mess? Am I concerned? Yes.

Do I have faith in VSP? Yes.

Will I tell you if that changes, yes.

I have always been curious about the comment that Anchorage Farm and/or nearby areas were about to be searched when Morgan was found. Has anyone answered the question, “How did searchers/LE decide to search that specific area?” Even though AF is a large farm, it is a needle in a haystack compared to the amount of rural area that could be searched surrounding Charlottesville.<<<

DDA, this isn’t directed at your specific post, but to this thought in general and yours was the first one I read this AM —

the CUE search was originally scheduled earlier — I honestly can’t remember the date — but had to be cancelled due to the weather and a new date set —

If the person(s) who placed Morgan on the farm was worried about her being discovered during the initial search, it just seems to me personally, something would have happened then — that initial search was called off really last minute.

Plus, when “they” — whoever “they” is — were talking about searching this AF area — that doesn’t necessarily mean AF — or even Blandemar, or any private properties on Red Hill, PoorHouse Rd., etc. — I think you would have to have permission from all of those landowners since the CUE search was not a search being conducted as a result of a search warrant —

I was thinking about this last night, and I honestly think we’re spinning our wheels on this — before we make the jump that all of these other events were as a result of the CUE search, I think we need to find out if CUE had permission to search those properties in that area —

Let me tell you why my thoughts jumped last night — I was thinking about the reaction from the Blandemar Farm owner when notified by her farm manager that Morgan’s remains had been found on AF — she was totally shocked — and also other landowners who were interviewed by the local paper/TV stations talking about their fear now that this could happen in their area —

made me consider that they had not been contacted and given permission to CUE —

Again, DDA, that is not directed to your post specifically, but you echo previous posts : )

“Given that it was in a “remote” area of his property – it begs the question, of all 700+ acres why would he beeline over to that specific area first?”

I agree; it just doesn’t compute. If Bass was given a tip why did he not say so since he has a good reputation by all reports? Maybe the report he gave to the VSP names the person who tipped him off and the public story is a diversion?

George, again, this is not directed at your particular post, but to this thought in general —

You have no reason to trust me on this, and before this past weekend, I would be right there w/ you — information came to me over the weekend that I simply cannot share —

Mr. Bass did not make a beeline to that area of his property — in fact, it was the last area to be checked — the workers were present on the property to clear the storm debris and make any necessary repairs — he started at the front and was driving down to the back to check the fence line — look at the overhead google map — the barn where his tractor was stored is at the front of the property —

His property is basically an elongated rectangle — he got the tractor, started at the front and was working his way back — the pasture where Morgan was found is near the property line w/ Waldemar Farm and other properties in Blandemar

Were it not for the repeated storms from Dec. thru Jan., which I believe moved Morgan’s remains from the treeline prior to her Jan. 16th discovery, and the really bad storm the previous weekend which drew Mr. Bass to that area of his farm, I don’t think Morgan’s remains would have ever been found —

I don’t ask you to believe me — but to at least consider it —

If you were the propertyowner — if your farm had sustained damage, including multiple downed trees, if you had a work crew onsite clearing debris, cutting up downed trees, and if you knew other properties in and around the area also sustained heavy damage — remember, schools were closed as a result of flooding and wind damage — and the work crews may not be available to get back out there for some time — would you get on your tractor (as opposed to walking for several miles) and check the perimeter fences ? Another fact to keep in mind, AF also backs up to literally a million-dollar property that probably has very expensive landscaping — I don’t have the cow experience that Localgirl and Suz have, but from what they’ve posted, cows can put a world of hurt by trampling bushes and pooping everywhere — as the landowner and owner of the cows, he has a duty to keep those cows on his property —

so viewed in that scenario, as a landowner, what would you do ? Would you sit in the kitchen and drink coffee watching the Today Show ?

Again, not directed at your post or you personally — just the thought in general, which you very succintly posted.

See ZAMS posting yesterday, April 20 at 7:03 pm. It is just too convenient. I think Bass was tipped off and he probably (hopefully) told the real story to the VSP and they came up with the public story to protect the person who provided info. Call me paranoid.

    Good Morning Blink and All

This may be way O/T, but I was just thinking, did Morgan know someone at Grady and 15th? If she did get a ride with someone from the bridge, what if she told them she was trying to get to someone’s apartment there. They pretended they would take her there and instead took her to a place near AF and raped (assuming) and murdered her. Then hid the body on the farm. Maybe, they then took her purse back and threw it in the grassy area of the parking lot they had previously seen her in, talking to others. Then a few weeks later decided to get rid of her shirt they’d been hiding and discarded it at the place where it was found, to make it look like she had been there. If they, or someone they knew, displayed it there on a shrub, it would direct the attention there. I wonder if Morgan knew anyone living in the Grady apartments. Since Alex, Morgan’s brother had attended UVA and graduated the previous year, I wonder if he had friends that lived there and Morgan was trying to get there to hang out until the concert was over. Oh, wow now my thoughts have taken an additional turn. What if she made it there and borrowed a dry shirt, because hers would have been soaked from the rain. She then left there to head back to the arena to meet up with her friends, taking her shirt with her. Then someone picked her up and didn’t even notice she had the shirt with her until they found it in their vehicle and took it back to a place near where they picked her up. Even if she left the shirt at someone’s apartment, I don’t think they would have displayed it near their home. It seems they would have destroyed it or taken it to a dumpster away from where they lived. I realize I have introduced a couple of different theories in this one paragraph, but I’m really trying to figure out, why put the shirt there? On that bush instead of under or behind it. It’s obvious it was meant to be found, but why there? Blink said the shirt was in ‘good condition’, which leads me to think the shirt wasn’t laying around somewhere in that area since Oct. 17, found by a good Samaritan type and displayed on a bush to be claimed by it’s owner. MOO someone had that shirt for three weeks and placed it there for a reason. What was that reason and why that particular place?

Combing through all we know with a fine tooth comb.

I cannot resolve the below items.

    1) IF BB players are 100% innocent and know nothing, then why did they not come forward on their own – LE had to track them down – and then neither LE not the BB players have spoken a word about what transpired during their encounter with Morgan. These are the last supposed known people to have interacted with her.

    2) The newspaper lady sighting. Why has LE not followed up with her, had her (an artist) sketch who she seen, etc. At least per the newspaper lady, they have not requested this from her.

    3) The necklace and the boots – both items have not been recovered. Yet other jewelry remained on Morgan.

And, then, lastly 2 questions. Will the results of the forensics on any evidence recovered from AF be released to the public once complete or is it possible already complete and they are not releasing it publicly. And, was there anyone else’s DNA found on the shirt?

  34. Josie says:

I have to agree with Skyler on how Mr. Bass came to find the remains on his farm. If you’ve ever had a farm you know to check your fences after such a storm as what had just occurred. I’ve never had cattle but did at one time have horses. Going out to check for downed trees and fence lines is just one of those things that goes along with it. I can also tell you that there was a lot of damage from the last storm that hit before Morgan’s remains were found. I travel twice monthly from Northern Virginia down 64 back to 81 at Staunton. There are some less traveled roads that I use to avoid so much traffic and I can tell you it was a mess of downed trees, even to the point of some roads being blocked. I have never questioned Mr. Bass’ story from the beginning. Just call it the farmer girl in me. I really feel sad for Mr. and Mrs. Bass that they’ve had to deal with something this tragic and devastating. Putting myself in that place, I cannot imagine. While devastating for them, it was a blessing that she was found before the next snow storm set in a few days later. It would have been another month and the remains may still not have been found to this day.

As gently as I possibly can, I want to remind everyone that the Harringtons do read this site. They come here to see progression, possibilities and most of all, I think they find ‘hope’ when they see a community coming together for their shiny girl.

That being said, attacking each other and pushing aside the real reason this thread is alive is somewhat self indulgent. If you’ve been ‘attacked’ because of a glib remark, dismiss it. There’s not much out there that brings comfort to the Harringtons. I hope BOC does and if that’s true, we need to be mindful of how we respond to one another. There’s no room for egos. None. This is about Morgan, the Harringtons and finding her murderer(s). That’s is.

I might have to agree that over analyzing Bass isnt going to produce much. Our larger hurdles are identifying the BIB, details on Morgans call to the friends, and geting all the details on the shirt. And we may well not know those things until we have a perp arrested. And it wouldnt hurt knowing who has worked for Bass, tree workers, yard cleanup etc.
Curious over the questions re the power company. Is that due to knowledge of land by worker’s due to proximity of lines, or is there more? Either way, gives us more to contemplate & associate people with. Have a good day!

    *************
    “Call me paranoid.”

Call me naive, but we are dairy farmers on a large farm in Fauquier Co. and do not find it the least bit convenient. It is completely plausible to think Bass was out there checking the fences after a storm. While he is “retired,” as the owner, he apparently still makes it his duty to oversee the land, livestock, etc. Frankly, we feel utmost sympathy for him having found himself in this tragic mess. I realize you are not implicating him, just painting a different scenario. I appreciate the deeper perspective, and realize I may just be more trusting, but fwiw, I believed the story from the beginning, and I continue to belive Mr. Bass just happened upon Morgan’s remains in a routine check of his property.

BTW: 8:30am is not “first thing in the morning” in the farming world.

  44. Frank Speaker says:

Coincidentially my farm is same size as Bass and elongated triangle ,i guess that is how i feel sort of in his head space in regards to upkeep . The narrative Skyler has written as regards to routine maintenance of boundry fences goes without saying to me . Yes try walking that area with tools ,equipment, and fencing supplies to repair any storm damage from windfalls and wildlife damage . There are apparently lots of deer on his land jumping fences and causing damage also . The ground was soft ,his feet would just sink into the ground ,hard walking . If you can,t cover the ground by machine it is almost out of the question to do it otherwise . For someone to come up with a cock and bull story explaining why he THINKS Mr Bass is telling lies to the public about his motivations and explanation of his findings is unecessarily making another most underseving victum .

  45. MsL says:

I think maybe people who have trouble believing Mr. Bass’ account of how and when he found Morgan aren’t familiar with country life. Someone upthread mentioned the early hour of the discovery. I speak from experience of coming from farming grandparents on both sides, the day does not begin at 9:00. Often times it does not begin at sunrise, but well before. I’m not talking about a vegetable or dairy farm, I’m talking about a farm such as Mr. Bass has, a “gentleman” beef farmer. My grandfather was an early riser, if he hadn’t eaten breakfast by 7:00, his day was 1/2 over. He got up, turned the coffee on, dressed, had his coffee and was in the fields checking his cows by 6:30,then he would come back to the house and eat breakfast. When pastures were green, checking simply meant being sure everything was okay, no cows missing or injured, and fences still standing. When cows needed supplemental feeding, this meant checking to see that there was plenty of hay left for them to eat. My grandfather farmed on a much smaller scale than Mr. Bass, but their concern after a storm would have been the same, that the cows not be able to get out of the grazing fields onto neighboring land. Ever heard the expression that the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Cows certainly believe that. Let there be one break a fence and one to a whole herd can end up miles from home. Worse yet, are cows wandering onto the highway. Anyone ever seen a car that has hit a deer? Imagine the same thing with a cow and the farmer being responsible for damage and any injuries. I can attest to the tree damage in our area from the multiple storms, one after the other. There are some very nice properties that are still covered with fallen trees. Don’t know whether or not it’s a question of getting cleanup crews. Guess could also be insurance issues. Road banks are beginning to look better, crews are making some headway, but just a couple of weeks ago, our area of Charlottesville/Albemarle looked like a hurricane had swept through and taken down trees. The state and private contractors had only been able to clear them a few feet from the road during the storms. Also, when Morgan was discovered, weather reports were already coming in that another monster snow storm was heading our way. It hit either on the 29th or 30th. Mr. Bass would have known that any checking, repairs and cleanup that needed to be done on his property had a very small window of time for completion.

  46. George says:

Skyler, thanks for your reply. I will concede that it is possible that the report from Mr. Bass might possibly be totally accurate without any shading at all. However, that does not mean that Bass was the first person since Morgan was placed there to either observe her, or to observe that her shallow grave had been washed out by the storms. I think it is possible that someone observed that she had been washed out and the report got back to certain persons who got desperate and started the house fire. I would like to know who the farm workers were and if they had been working at the property before Morgan was found.

The finding of Morgan and the house fire with all the possible connections of the house to the case is just too much of a coincidence. And how long does it take to do a house fire investigation? We don’t even have a preliminary report yet.

  47. Total Amatuer said: “So you are confirming that Morgans boots have yet to be located?”

Blink responds: “TA- aka Roadrunner, I am very deliberate in my responses as you know. B”

    ——————————————-

I ask: So the boots were not found by LE, but they have been located?

  48. MsL says:

I often have thoughts of what I should have written after hitting “submit.” Mr Bass has been discussed as a “gentleman farmer” before, but maybe some weren’t reading at that time and aren’t familiar with the phrase. Has nothing to do with his character. A “gentleman farmer” is someone who does not farm to make a living. Farming is either a hobby or done for tax incentives. Mr. Bass probably qualifies on both counts. Many such farmers have another career and hire someone to take care of their farm (the case with my grandfather, he was the farm manager.) These farmers are often absentee owners who live elsewhere. Other “gentleman farmers” are retired and, like Mr. Bass, live on their land. I think I read early on that Mr. Bass was either the founder or President of a national pizza chain before he retired and bought Anchorage Farm.

  49. Georgie says:

Soooo, according to Blink, the boots have not been found, and correct me if I’m wrong, but Morgan’s necklace has not been found either? Who would be interested in having those things for themselves? The one fact that we ALL know….Morgan was a beautiful woman, and let’s face it, most men would find her extremely appealing. Enter a couple of guys who have their girlfriends with them, maybe these guys/girls peripherally know Morgan. Less attractive women can be unbelievably jealous and mean to another girl who is garnering the attentions of “her man”. Was one of these dudes hitting on Morgan in the arena, right in front of his gf? So Morgan goes to the bathroom, gf follows her, maybe confronts or even attacks her in there, thus explaining Gil’s comment about something going wrong when she went to the restroom.

Something like this would really be upsetting to Morgaan, I would think, and may have caused her to leave the arena. Was she followed by these people?

Some of the facebook pages I’ve read lead me to believe that it wouldn’t be too unlikely that a BG/bf, in order to make “amends” with the gf for hitting on another girl, would offer Morgan’s necklace and boots as an apology. I know it sounds far-fetched, but this whole case is so off the wall that I’m not sure anything would surprise me at this point.
