North Garden, VA– Morgan Harrington, the 20 year old fair-haired, radiant beauty, was brutally murdered after disappearing from the John Paul Jones arena the evening of October 17, 2009.

Morgan Bridge

Morgans remains were recovered the morning of January 26, 2010 in a hayfield on Anchorage Farm, owned by David and Nancy Bass.

Since Morgan was found by Mr. Bass that blackest of days in January, there has been rampant speculation about her last hours and how she ended up in the creek bed of total strangers.

A sequence of events and incidents in the days and hours preceding and following the January 26, 2010, discovery of Morgan Harrington’s skeletal remains on Anchorage Farm continues to attract attention from pundits and volunteers dedicated to Morgan’s cause.

Although naysayers point to a lack of a viable connection, and police have disavowed a link, others say emergency services runs to a nearby fire and also other responses which are  not supported by publicly available documentation has led to calls for more complete disclosure to eliminate any connection or chance of prank calls to misdirect or busy first responders.

The editors of www.blinkoncrime.com present  a series of events occurring in Albemarle County, VA that pose the question:

What the Hell is going on and what does it have to do with Morgan Harrington’s murder?

The Monsoons of Albemarle County …. PD

Ok, maybe I meant “The monsoor”. Karl Monsoor that is.

Former Officer Karl Monsoor had been tugging on the shirtail of ACPD for years before he finally left with pocketfuls of sunshine. Almost 500 G’s.

It is not my intention to be glib, it is my intention to say that as one of the youngest police departments in the country, enacted in 1983, this tank needed algeacide before this past March.

Death By Cop.. January 1, 2010

Colby Eppard driver seatColby Eppard, described by some as a cross between Gomer Pyle and cool hand luke, had the rawest of deals growing up in Greene County.

According to his foster-mommy-aunt, Tammy Harlow Cox, Colby was hit by a car at a very young age and suffered a brain injury that apparently served to shape his future of home upheavel and juvenile detention facilities.

Ms. Cox, to whom Colby Eppard was entrusted for a time as a foster parent, is no stranger to the judicial system. Tammy was arrested for admittedly having sex with 3 High School seniors athletes on the Varsity Football Team, where her own sons attended. The same school Colby elected to leave without his diploma.

Colby’s family recalls better times, and I don’t think anyone believes this is the last we have heard of this case.

Specifically under VA statute, Greene County Captain Randall Snead was out of his jurisdiction, both when he was called about Colby stealing the patrol car and the fact that he was in North Garden, Albemarle County, looking for it. It would seem the Greene County Roster could accommodate a deputy vs. a captain to respond, no?  Keep in mind, EVERY responding officer was put on desk duty pending the investigation, through at least February 9th, 2010.

While the attorney for the Commonwealth, Denise Lunsford has cleared all officers from all participating counties involved, none of the dash cams have been released despite requests through The Freedom of Information Act..

According to Ms. Lunsford, in an incident that spanned almost 70 miles and over 2 and a half hours where traffic was rerouted and stringers were used, Colby Eppard was allegedly wielding the 20 gauge Greene County Issue out the windows, not one LEO attempted to engage or respond to Eppard in an effort to get him to pull over, or negotiate his surrender at any time.

In fact, according to statements from Snead, Albemarle Deputies Fields and Marden, they were all in place on the south junction of 20 “in the event” he went that way, yet, they did not block traffic until after the stinger caused Eppard to crash.

My biggest question regarding this incident is: Did anyone ask Colby Eppard why he would take the truck and 2 rifles on New Years day ending up in Albemarle County?

Was it related to a New Years Eve occurrance of a friend, family member or associate of his? After Sgt. Hutchinson loses Eppard near the Nelson line, the next time he is seen is parked on Green Creek Rd, back in Albemarle.

What route did he take from 29 South to end up there? Was he seeking Red Hill Road where the overdose call came in to EMS the night before?

By all accounts he was a troubled young man with challenges throughout his young 18 years.

Additionally corroborated by those that knew him, he was never violent to anyone. There were over 6 Law Enforcement Officers from 4 different jurisdictions this man encountered before he hit just below Carters Bridge; 14 by the time the stolen vehicle ended up in the ditch.

Not one of them spoke or attempted to speak to Colby Wade Eppard at anytime he was on the police radio for over 2 hours. Was there an order given not to?

How is it that not one officer responded to Eppards threats, which were even being monitored by the media at this point in an effort to have a peaceful result to this situation?

Did Eppard have a cell phone with him and have the records been checked?

Cort EppardDid he call anyone, like Amber Rogers, his off-again girlfriend of 3 years? His brother Courtney or any of his friends?

In the preliminary release by the Virginia State Police, it stated Eppard returned to his crashed 2006 Ford Ranger truck prior to stealing the unmarked Green Cty car. If he were attempting to have a police stand off, why would he not take the two rifles he brought with him? He left his guns behind.

It also states in the report that Eppard is seen on the video from the STOLEN police car retrieving the shotgun from the trunk and loading it, how is that possible considering all the cameras are dash mounted?

Can someone explain to me how the officers have been cleared, but the footage of  both Eppards actions and their responses, the very evidence of the incident cannot be released? One of the officers involved, Caleb Marden, was fired for reasons nobody is willing to comment on.

There is only ONE way that is legal; if is part of an ONGOING investigation.

So what investigation is it an active part of?

(Editors note: If Mr. Eppard put ANYONE’s safety at risk through his actions, in the end, I say what happened to him was done to protect others, which I support. That said, as it was not so long ago a Virginia Conservation Officer was indicted for the involuntary manslaughter of a 16 year old kid whose girlfriend he was trying to grab out of his moving car, and later had the charges dismissed, I think it is worthy of conversation.)

Byrd Watching DungSmoke – January 22, 2010

Dung burning

James Byrd Gunn, resident or squatter at 5027 Stoney Point Rd, Barboursville, VA owned by Piedmont Manor Land Trust, was busted for possession of Marijuana with intent to deliver, and possession of a firearm as a felon.

GunnStonyPointRdTODAY, Mr. Big Gunn is on the Run-Run. He was indicted on both counts Monday and declared a fugitive this afternoon.

In a SEPERATE arrest  on January 23rd, 2010, Jeremy Manning– Smith Manning Smith(JMS) with the cool  144 acre pad in Keswick, also indicted on 4/5/2010 , may turn to the fivefold plan to help him out. JMS keeps a cool $55K recession-proof wad around for emergencies. Mr. Manning-Smith is a long time composter, although he never really states what he is growing.

Lisa Powers, copperworks and the fivefold planners say burn the dung. They are pals, although I doubt she is securing his bond.

Cash Runs OUT.. January 24th, 2010

Jason Todd Cash, with NO CHARGES OR WARRANTS PENDING allegedly tries to kill a cop when he is stopped in Nelson Cty in a vehicle registered to someone in Buckingham County. Remind you of anyone? He ran from the scene, leaving the vehicle and eluded police on foot.

The vehicle was impounded. He apparently is driving on a revoked license, which county has that occurred in? We will get back to J-money.

NON Garden Party…. January 25th

At approximately 10PM on the evening of January 25, Albemarle County Fire and rescue services responds to a call at the 37 acre farm of award winning gardening and horticulture experts John Sauer and his wife Cathy Clary. It is listed as a tactical incident rescue and as of March 24, 2010 is still an open incident.  What was it? Who or what needed rescuing?

Mr. Sauer is the long-time gardner for Carr’s Hill, the residence of the President of UVA. Carr’s Hill was the former site of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity until 2003 when it was moved by the city to it’s current location on Culbreth. Ms. Clary is a horticulture proffessor at UVA, and most recently taught a home landscaping course which included a field trip the afternoon of Saturday October 17, 2009.

The Sauers are also members of Piedmont Landscaping Association, which is open to anyone in the landscaping field and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Interestingly enough, there were several fire alarm activations on the UVA campus on this same day. Faulkner House reported a residential fire around 4:10 am.

Threes Company,  Four is Combustible..Jan 26th

Sutherland Firefd

Sometime after 10PM, the residential fire at 3323 Sutherland Rd breaks out.

This would be the fire that is still an OPEN INCIDENT.

This fire,as you can see, was no curling-iron-left-on.

It allegedly started after the residents were asleep, although they had all apparently packed their belongings and were on a month to month lease, 2 had already moved out.

In fact, according to Peruvian vacationer and dog owner of Blanca, the pit bull that perished in the blaze, he was not aware of the fire until days after the fact because he was with friends in Peru.

Kevin Terlep

Convenient, if you ask me, as he has a previous weed distribution and subsequent traffic charge in December 2009.

Meet new pup to the left. In fairness to fair-weather k9’s of America, he was only asking for dog-sitting, and not on the lease.  Choose your kenneling wisely people.

The residential fire at the 3000 block of Sutherland Rd has some issues. For starters, you have the first press release regarding the possible accidental fire since as far back as 2003 before a cause determination has been made.

Additionally the release itself appears to have missed the fact that approximately 2 hours after the last apparatus departs, there is an additional call back to the property requiring 12 responders within minutes of the discovery of Morgan Harrington’s remains. They may have literally passed each other on Route 29; they definitely would have heard the dispatcher.

Sutherland

The former owner of the Sutherland property is buried on Anchorage Farm. A relative of the current owners has hunted the Anchorage Farm property.

The band in the image on the left is pictured practicing in the Sutherland home.

A firefighter, whose identity blinkoncrime is choosing to withhold, who fought the fire, without sleeping took an impromptu trip to New Jersey with his ..”aunt, uncle, cousin, his cousins uncle and a friend..” at 10:23PM January 27th, driving straight through without stopping and returned to North Garden by 1:45PM January 28th.  Through his own facebook postings, he spends the bulk of his time when he is not volunteering for the North Garden Fire Department at his cousins; a Toco Hill address also listed as the home for a recently released registered sex offender.

Retired Greene Sheriff Takes His Own Life.. January 28

There is no evidence to suggest that William “Willie” Linwood Morris’s suicide has anything in common with the Morgan Harrington’s case directly, with the exception that there are obviously folks that knew him as well as other individuals being discussed. I have spoken with a family member, and an individual who has known him for twenty years and by those accounts Willie was in deep discomfort from the tinnicus he suffered from.

He took care of every detail prior to ending his life behind the barn on his farm in Stanardsville, VA, including withdrawing the cash for his own funeral.

Willie Morris was found by Captain Randall Snead, who was allegedly supposed to be on desk duty until the Eppard case investigation was completed.  According to Commonwealth Attorney Denise Lunsford, that was not completed until February 9, 2010, almost 2 weeks later.

Cash is Busted on a Tip.. March 19

Not long out of Nelson County jail for a non-violent offense, Jason Todd Cash is being held in Albemarle County jail since his arrest around 1am the morning of Friday March 19.

One has to wonder if the tip about where Jmoney was hanging out on Secretary Sand Rd from his kin in Amherst.

Clint Cash, a registered sex offender was arrested in December on a felony parole violation and is facing some heavy time . His wife Donna, had just pled guilty to a misdemeanor the day before the tip came in regarding JT Cash’s whereabouts and received a suspended sentence.

Jason Cash was apprehended with help from Bink, the new Albemarle County k9 when the house he was staying in on Secretary Sands was raided and he attempted to stay hidden inside.

What are Coincidences… What are clues?

The aforementioned volunteer for NGVFD lives in same stretch of Secretary Sands Rd.

Yet another relative of Jason Cash, a registered Sex Offender, shares an employer with the cousin of “volunteer”, and volunteer; specializing in outdoor landscape lighting.

Colby Eppard was stopped in the area of Green Creek Rd that is a large parcel of land owned by  Cash family member.

As far as making allegations in this report, there are none. The investigation of the events contained herein are entirely based on public information and witness accounts.

I have come to the conclusion that while we cannot say specifically which one of the issues discussed directly relate to the murder of Morgan Harrington, a primary or secondary scene integral to the investigation of same, and the hunt for her killer(s), but I do believe the incidents need to explored fully in a public forum.

In regard to the T-shirt, a re-read of the C-ville article that first reported on the find (Feb. 2):
    http://www.c-ville.com/index.php?cat=11101808092903167&ShowArticle_ID=11800102104276532

…triggered a few fresh thoughts. According to Grady/15th Street-area residents interviewed for the piece, investigators were allegedly on that scene examining the bush on which the T-shirt was initially found by Jan. 27 – the day after Morgan was found.

    (From the article):
“…On Friday afternoon, January 29, several residents of 15th Street, just over a mile from Copeley Road Bridge, reported they were interviewed by investigators who canvassed the area in connection with Harrington’s death.

“A second resident said that two days earlier (*Jan. 27*), “I was going to my car, and there was a woman who was kind of digging in the bush, and there were two guys walking around the apartment across the street. I heard the one guy [say] they hadn’t found anything, so the one guy was like ‘Well, we found her shirt over here.’” A third resident confirmed the reports; both remained anonymous due to privacy concerns. …”

If true, this indicates to me that the T-shirt, which may have been mostly clean (“very good condition,” per B) was set aside/undergoing forensic examination(?) during the course of the investigation from mid-Novemeber until Jan. 26.

Perhaps MH’s remains were missing the Pantera T she was wearing upon her disappearance, prompting LE to give renewed attention to the shirt long in their posession. And it’s certainly possible that – for whatever reason – mroe intensive DNA testing of the shirt did not commence until her body was found either shirtless or in a different shirt than friends, family and witnesses reported her being in on Oct. 17.

    acho, B – re: Timing, timing, timing…

(acho said:) “So let’s see, EMH employed on January re-registration date (don’t forget, this happens regularly for RSOs, despite current events), and EMH employed on Morgan’s discovery date. First news of the T-shirt breaks late Jan/early Feb (1/29 is when residents questioned, per 2/02 C-ville article linked below). EMH UNemployed by early Feb, RE-employed in March (date unclear?), and hired by new company in April. …I sure would like to hear from AP employees re: what was going on with the nephew at work.”

    I second B’s reply: “‘Xactly.”

    sky – re: Bass’s discovery on 1/26

Woman, you are so right-on in my book! From all accounts, farmers throughout Albemarle County were checking fences and property damage at that time in late January from a spate of destructive winter storms – and likely swapping stories about same. I think Bass came across her body exactly like he said, and had no idea he would come make such a gruesome discovery when he set off on his weather-related reconnaissance mission that morning.

*If* the nearby house-fire was at all related to the impending discovery of her remains on AF, than it was likely a non-specific tip-off on the Sutherland side, rather than on Bass’s end.

*If* anyone involved with the crime/cover-up/privy to the crime scene was living or staying at that house and sensed – or saw – that she was very likley to be found as property caretakers at BF and AF visually swept their properties that week – and, further, that her discovery may lead investigators to said house – *that* may have prompted evidence-destroying arson on their end.

I’m still curious what tip the NG FF called in post-Sutherland-firefight… and if it proved to be a lead, as he hoped.

Also George, if the VSP wanted Mr. Bass to check a certain area, in response to a tip, don’t you think they would have accompanied him on the search? so as not to contaminate? or to avoid any further suspicion?

Was forensic testing ever done on the BBplayers vehicles?

Does anyone know where they went after leaving the arena? Inotherwords, did they go to a party or to a club where they were seen by multiple witnesses?

  4. total amateur says:

I’m asking about the BBplayers because they were some of the last people to see Morgan Harrington alive, moments before she was last seen, and yards from where her purse was found. Yet, they are constantly disregarded. They did not come forward on their own, and two of the three are no longer with the team. All the focus is always on everything and everybody EXCEPT them. So I want to know WHY. Do they have rock-solid alibis for their whereabouts following 9:30 pm on October 17th, 2009? Is there some other reason they are constantly discounted?

    UNQUOTE

Unfortunately, from my end, that isn’t the case. I still have a comment that says ‘awaiting moderation’. My post is nowhere on the thread (again, no biggie, I just reposted it). I’ve looked all over for it. Today, it’s still awaiting moderation from my end. I tried looking on another browser and it shows the same. I don’t think I’m crazy but something is not right. Justiceformorgan, I believe, experienced the same problem. I still don’t see her original posting. It shows awaiting for moderation too……again, from my end. It was mentioned her comment was re-posted. I cannot find it anywhere. Not on this thread or others. I have searched using the ‘edit/find on this page’ for a thorough search. I spent 2 hours looking for hers and mine.

Is anyone else having this problem? I can’t be making this up because I’m not that bright when it comes to technical issues. I just know what I see. My only motive is to bring up possible issues to help, not to place blame.

I submit this respectfully Blink. Regardless, there are no hard feelings, just confusion on my part. :S

Ragdoll, I have checked every post of yours, both pending and approved, there is only post I have where you specifically said was for my eyes only. Justice 4 Morgan posts were all posted in their entirety, more than once, I held exactly one of her posts, which I told her I would, specifically because there were links in there that needed verification.

Secondly, you can’t see someone else’s post if it is awaiting moderation, only they and I could. I believe your looking at one of the reposts.

At any rate, there is no issue, posts that require an answer from me, or that I wish to address, may take longer as I am at max capacity between actively working on cases, their updates, and investigative analysis to progress leads in Morgan’s case and others.

I hope that clears it up, thanks for asking for clarification.

Just in case the Sutherland housefire wasn’t accidental, I’ve always wondered if the following post by Dr. Harrington on Findmorgan.com could have put the fear of God into someone to try to get rid of any evidence that may be lingering. And again, it’s just as likely coincidence. If you look at the date of his post, it was only three days before all hell broke loose in North Gardens.

The police have done a number of sweeps of the UVA grounds area as well as “for cause” searches. The laura Recovery Center did the community search with 1700 volunteers that spread the area about 1 and 1/2 miles from the bridge area. We have Roanoek friends that are also doing searched. Areas that I think need to be searched are off of US 29 south, quite a rural area , mountainous. as well as the reservior areas.

I have some questions regarding Morgan Harrington’s body being found.
    1. How did her body decompose so quickly, isn’t three months a very short time for a body to completely decompose. I mean really how was it skeletal so quickly.
    2. I think the house fire with the grad students to be very suspicious.
What is the final report or is there one and just how far away in miles or yards or whatever was it from Morgan’s body?
    3. I think the landowner just happening upon skeletal remains is suspicious. Sorry but if it was skeletal it couldn’t have been easily recognizable. Very odd.

From what I recall from my early reading on different sites, the team had just emerged from a practice and were getting in their cars. My guess is that Morgan may have approached them asking for a ride – this is just a guess. I just can’t think of any other reason unless she was a big basketball fan – which I doubt. I read there were a number of people there, coaches, wives of coaches and girlfriends. I think Morgan was hoping to catch a ride with somebody. Then maybe she went on the bridge and tried to catch a ride. Wasn’t there a witness who saw her on the bridge – the newspaper lady or somebody?

  14. Kim says:

Bathroom at the concert: Maybe it was a girl-fight. Morgan escapes out of the arena figuring the other girl won’t leave. (yes, why she wouldn’t stay there and ask for help… she’s young and would she ‘run’ to the authorities or just try to leave the situation?) Girls can be vicious and scary, esp. to someone nice and gentle. The words could have been harder than the blows.

EMT-guy follows her out (here, let me help you with that cut..). Or not. This may be where 2nd chain of events start, independent from inside incident. But maybe plausible reason why she left the arena. Didn’t want to own up to friend- or she did tell them… about girl getting in her face over a guy. I had my car almost trashed for talking to a guy an acquaintance was interested in. I’d tell my friends, tho. Oh gosh.. follow me. or don’t .. I hate to make another train of thought.. girl fight. escapes the arena. girl calls friends outside (hey, MH was here.. etc etc.. go find her.) I know, it’s so far at he beginning of the timeline…

Groups keeping quiet: May we recall Christine Sheddy? Haleigh Cummings? Denial and haughtiness go a long way to cover/forget things.

Anch Farm: If the weather was that bad.. trees down, water rushing.. I can see all your points: workers are there, sunrise in NYC was 7:11am (from sunrisesunset.com) Reasonable he was riding on the tractor for 1.5 hrs by the time he saw Morgan. Someone knew, just like all you locals are saying… Bass would be out on his property soon. Maybe BG was hoping the bad weather further concealed Morgan, checked it out and to his horror the weather exposed her.. and he freaked out.. with all the suggestions out the online and LE.. he freaked.

  15. ZAMS says:

I think certain people are picking and choosing only certain parts of comments to read.
I plainly stated in my first sentence that I GET why Bass would need to go out and check his property after a storm. And my message was not that 8:30 in the morning in and of itself is the “crack of dawn”, rather that I found it questionable that he was able to locate a skeletal body in a remote area of his 700 acre farm that he gets to only once or twice a year, all before 8:30 am.

  16. Minnie Penney says:

t.a., I have never read about any testing on cars, but I’m sure there would have been if it was reported that she did leave in a car with someone. Never read anything about a party – maybe they were tired and just went home and went to bed. Their interaction with Morgan has been mentioned on just about every site I have visited regarding Morgan. Check out “Edward” at Scared Monkeys…..he holds nothing back regarding the BB players. And the VSP timeline…Edward is a dedicated poster – I don’t always see things his way but he is a good soul and I admire his dedication.

    Gil Harrington’s thoughts from March 8th, 2010

Death is a stark harsh landscape – like a desert- and like a desert has its own beauty. Stripping the extraneous nonessentials away from something often exposes an innate and poignant beauty. Death reveals the incandescent spirit housed in a body. I do realize though that the dying process isn’t easy, or even often very pretty. Much like birth, death provokes intrinsic, genuine and fundamental emotions. I want those feelings – every shred of them.

I am not sure if I am just wired strangely, but like a dog, I want to roll in it. I want to experience every single aspect of Morgan’s murder and death- feel her bones, wear her shoes, and sniff her clothes. I am not sure if I am trying to imprint the last of her indelibly in my mind, or if I indulge in such intimacies to try to have the reality of her absence penetrate my disbelief. It was my privilege to watch Morgan come into this world; somehow it is also my duty to contemplate her death. I will try to witness the end of Morgan’s life with the same clarity and anticipation as I saw at her birth on July 24, 1989…. See More

I will cherish and acknowledge Morgan’s spirit now that she is dead to the same degree I did when she had a body. How could I do otherwise?

Feb. 18 press conference with Morgan’s parents-

“He didn’t even want her jewelry,” Dan Harrington said, adding his belief that Morgan’s death was a sexual assault that “ended up in her murder.” Gil Harrington now wears the silver bracelet her daughter Morgan was wearing when she died, which was recovered from the scene where her remains were discovered, in a desolate hay field.

“Her killer is to blame,” the Harringtons said. “This ain’t going to end until Morgan finds justice.”

See ZAMS posting yesterday, April 20 at 7:03 pm. It is just too convenient. I think Bass was tipped off and he probably (hopefully) told the real story to the VSP and they came up with the public story to protect the person who provided info. Call me paranoid

    Dr. Harrington’s q&a from FindMorgan.com

    10. Has Morgan’s necklace ever been found?

*That is part of the investigation.*

    11. What articles were found with Morgan?

*The chunky silver bracelet that Gil gave to her was give back to us. The rest of the information is part of the investigation.*

“I want to experience every single aspect of Morgan’s murder and death- feel her bones, wear her shoes, and sniff her clothes.”

“He didn’t even want her jewelry,”

-Gil Harrington now wears the silver bracelet her daughter Morgan was wearing when she died-

I believe Morgan’s boots were found on the farm- I believe THE necklace was found on the farm- and any other jewelry Morgan was wearing- including the bracelet that was returned to Gil-
After Morgan was found and her clothes and boots were found, Gil wanted so desperately to wear Morgan’s things so she could be there for her baby in death, as much as she was with her at her birth.

My dear Mom 3.0, they were not found on the farm, either of them, I assure you.

  18. George says:

“Also George, if the VSP wanted Mr. Bass to check a certain area, in response to a tip, don’t you think they would have accompanied him on the search?”

My thought was that a person with tangential knowledge of the crime may have observed that the area they where had heard Morgan was buried was washed out. Maybe a day or so later they told Bass who checked, found Morgan, and immediately called the VSP. Later Bass, the VSP, and this other person developed a story to protect the local’s name. The local may or may not have been one of the “landscapers”. I don’t think Bass did anything wrong or without the knowledge of the VSP. It just seems odd he found her so early on the winter’s day he started checking his fields. Others here who are actually farmers think it could have happened just as Bass indicated; they have much more knowledge of farming than I do.

Roller —- Farm union. just a phrase ,every group has one . I belong to the Farm Union and associations in my area . Just works to look out for industry issues ,lobbies governments legislation wise ,funding etc. ,a source of information from periodicals ,field days, networking etc. Nothing sinister but just the opposite . Great wholsome people ,extremly resourceful, self sufficient, fair minded, stubborn, all range of talent. The bow shooting you speak of is fine within the confidence of police walls or your home but it is extremly unfair and dangerous to do so indiscriminately in public . For amateurs to defame hundreds of people publicly by incorrectly accusing them of commiting or complicity in serious crimes is not fair ball .How would you like someone to paint the picture of yourself as a serial or ramdom murderer . They could say i was just fictionalizing or thinking out loud but pretty hard to get the slime off yourself once someone has smeared you . People will say ” where there is smoke there is fire ” . Reputations are invaluable once lost they are long gone just like vergenity .

FWIW, i get your point, but until theories are debunked, i want all who had opportunity to NOT like it…isnt that the point?? to make those who could have possibly been involved to feel uncomfortable?? turn up the heat and keep it on??

i guess i should ask…Do you know that RS(is that better?) is innocent of any wrongdoing Frank?? i of course have no proof of guilt whatsoever, but he was a shooter in one of the cases, and found Morris in the other, and i still havent seen confirmation of being related to SS or not?!?…that my friend is opportunity…and maybe a link, albeit im not sure in what capacity yet, to motive…

  23. C-ville says:

Someone else is posting under the name cville (I am C-ville, similar enough to be confusing)…that is not me. But I will answer their question about Bella Morte playing Maya on 10/17.

They did not play at Maya, probably ever. Maya is a restaurant that has a little outside patio area where they sometimes have live music. They also have a small inside room that is sometimes used for this as well. They do not have a stage or a PA system. Usually they only have acoustic acts or some other type of music that is not so loud that it will bother other properties/people in the area. Bella Morte is a very loud metal/goth band. They tend to play only real music venues these days, not restaurants with a little patio space.

Bella Morte has been around since the mid 90′s and have gained a large enough following that they tour quite extensively and play with many well known metal and goth bands. They don’t do the small local circuit any more…but they do play here a few times a year in some of our actual music venues.

A few of the members of Bella Morte also have other bands that play around town in some of the smaller spaces, and even sometimes they do some semi-acoutsic sets, but the actual band, Bella Morte, has not played such small spaces in a very long time…they are entirely too loud for that, not to mention their following is too large for such a small space.

As for the staff at Maya wearing all black…that is fairly standard dress for 90% of the restaurant and bar staff in Charlottesville. If you are from here as your moniker would imply, you should know these things, right? (just messing with you…lol)

DMB-with no disrespect to you, i dont think they know what is ‘linked’, and what isnt quite frankly…

having said that, although it may appear as though i have put all my ‘cheese’ on RS, that couldnt be further from the truth…as stated above, i am all about flavor of the day, until one makes more sense than the other…

i am just trying to convey to Frank, and anyone else, that if you are going to come at me with, “that aint cool, he is a stand up guy, and you wouldnt want that to happen to you”, that i think that is way weak, and i will respond as respectfully as i can with…

    “so you were there?”

On the surface, I am confident that Willie Morris did not know Morgan. Having spoken to some of his friends and relatives, I do not think for 10 seconds he had any involvement.

Frankly, I wish I had the opportunity to have met him, he sounds like my kinda sheriff.

My question is why Snead responded to his emergency call when I was told he was on desk duty while the Eppard case was under investigation.

  27. ZAMS says:

To further clarify my previous post re: Bass
My point wasn’t to imply guilt or complicity on Bass’s part or receiving a tip off from anyone. Since finding Morgan’s skeletal remains where and when he did amounts to finding a needle in a haystack, I am just questioning if there may have been some other reason that caused him to be interested in checking that particular area. Such as if he’d noticed or heard about any recent unusual activity around that area. Or if he was aware the area over there may have been used as a “lover’s lane” or party spot. (I am not suggesting it was – I have just read other posts on various sites suggesting that). Maybe if that was the case, it was something that wasn’t of any particular concern until he heard there would be an upcoming search of the Route 29 area in connection to Morgan Harrington, and that made him think about it in the context of Morgan when maybe he hadn’t previously. Since he had to check his property for storm damage anyway, he started around that area first and maybe was keeping a careful eye out for any signs of anything “amiss” in addition to downed fences and trees. And perhaps LE asked him not to comment on any other reasons he may have had. While I have trouble buying that he just happened upon her that day by fluke, I do find it totally plausible he may have had other (non-suspect) reasons to take a closer look over there (in addition to checking for storm damage).
There is a great photo from TD Bones that shows a pic of a gate that at the time did not have a “lock” but rather something that could be easily unclipped to gain access. And there is a small dirt road (for lack of a better word) that goes back into the trees near the area where Morgan was found. This angle has been discussed before as far as possible access points to where Morgan was found – my point is just that Bass could have been aware if people use it. Whether to party, as lover’s lane, hunters parking off-road where their vehicle(s) won’t be disturbed, etc. And that, in conjunction with hearing about an upcoming search for Morgan, might have given him an extra push to have a closer look over there(while also checking for storm damage).

I had to get a sled to ferry all the feed and water around as I do not have a tractor- power out for 5 days is something I would rather not repeat for a while.

I understand what you are thinking skyler *light bulb* just came on

wow, we had lots of crews from out of the area coming to fix and clear the power lines. trying to come up with that one might be hard. all the power company crews cover for each other, Dominion, Co-op, Rappanhannock….

If someone wants to hide a body he won’t dumped it near fences. He could hide it near the bushes where theres less chances to be seen. I don’t think the perp(s) thought à lot dumping Morgan there. He, or they didn’t want to Be catched doing it thats all. This behavior would reflect also why someone dump à Tshirt somewhere equal where main thing far away from him. It would reflect also the cold emotionless behavior someone can have being so violent and careless hurting one other. And thats where i ask myself if they where 2 o 3 People involved wouldn’t one of them at least think about the place to hide a body and propose another place and hide it better?

Ok , thanks for your response Blink,
I thought for sure Gil was inferring she had Morgan’s boots and her clothes when she wrote:

“I want to experience every single aspect of Morgan’s murder and death- feel her bones, wear her shoes, and sniff her clothes.”

    —–

However she may have been saying what she wished she could do,given the chance.

    ——-

We know THE necklace has always been a point of contention-
We know the shirt was found in good condition in Nov
We know until recently, what type of boots Morgan was wearing was in question
    ——-
You made the comment earlier Blink- I keep looking at these FB pages and expecting to see something of Morgan’s in the background…

A)The necklace has not been recovered or B) was found along side the highway early on??
C)The boots have NOT been recovered or D)were found recently?

E)Or This A-hole either kept them as trophy’s is playing dress-up cause he is secretly misunderstood

F)or he gave them as gifts to his “beloved” girlfriend, pizzed her off- hence the shirt placement

The reason you said you keep expecting to see Morgan’s things in FB pics

I vote F- which makes that FB page with the knife /black nylons and garters taken from the knee-up even more interesting???

Yeah, I know, I know. Just more wild, unsubstantiated rumors that don’t really help in our discussion, right? But I do find it immensely strange that VSP would go out of their way to discount the connection:

Not asking anyone to list names but I would love to look into this further. However, I’m not sure where to begin looking for records on “renters”. To those who know, is this due to living in the C’ville area and just having first hand knowledge of who was there or did you find out through online research? If the latter, could you drop a clue how I can find the info? TIA

    RE: the boots

i am taking Blink’s “they were not found by LE” answer to mean this: they were found, with the remains, which were found by Bass, not LE…FWIW
    —-

If this is the case, which it may be, then why is it so difficult to just come out and say the boots were found?

What is the big deal – why the huge hush-hush?

  43. alexandra says:

Do I understand correctly? Brendon Shores, drummer of Bella Morte, relation to Klein-Shifflet-Morris family, living at 15th and Grady and found Morgan’s shirt in the bushes?

  44. ConcernedBystander says:

This morning I saw on Good Morning America a story on a lady who is missing in Ohio. They even showed surveillance footage of her from a convenience store seen with a man that her family had never seen before.

Now…move to Morgan’s case and not once in the three months she was “missing” nor in the three months since she’s been found has ONE video of her been released or ONE photo of her from that day.

Heck, we can’t even say whether her boots were found, and if so, by whom or where. And if they were found with the body, then what’s the big secret? I’m sure the perp would already know that since he would’ve been the one to put her there with the boots.

Is there a legit reason why EVERYTHING in this case from day one has been top secret???

  45. ConcernedBystander says:

HokieHi: It seems a few here know the identities of the residents of the Sutherland house. Could I ask for clues as to how this info was gained?

First I found the address of the house fire. Then looked up that address and found a name associated with it. This was a college aged female. Then looked through her facebook friends and found two who had mentioned on that date on their FB wall that their house had just burned down.

  47. Jane says:

Okay, I just read DCsteve’s comment. Wow, I know VSP discounted the connection. However, that would seem to make the most sense of all. Suppose someone worked the concert, offered help to Morgan, things got out of hand, got help from his LE buddies to cover up crime and they have put out a lot of misinformation and continually had everyone chasing their tails. Who else do we know of that worked the JPJ concert and is said to have worked on the farm as a boy. I’m not accusing anyone of anything. Just think this seems to make a lot more sense than other scenarios. Even the shirt…suppose one of his friends laid it on top of shrub. Poor unsuspecting kid comes by, sees it, phones it in and it’s all a set up to throw everyone off? Why would VSP speak to squelch this particular “rumor” and not worry about others? Where is security tape showing Morgan at concert? Where are pictures of Morgan day of concert? Those girls took pictures everywhere they went. What did Morgan purchase at convenience store and where? What were or have been the rumors floating around VT? Why are no fellow students/friends participating on this site? Things just don’t seem to add up. I don’t have the answer to a bloody thing. Each of you has contributed so much time and energy. I continue to hope one of you will find that missing piece of information that will lead to the arrest(s) of whoever did this to Morgan. Bless you all…

  48. Minnie Penney says:

I don’t see anything strange about Mr Bass checking his fences. I’ve never had cattle but I have had horses and if my horses got out on the road and caused a vehicle wreck I would be held accountable. I was constantly checking my fences and learned to to tighten wire with plyers and all kinds of stuff I never dreamed I would have to do. Remember my lawyer boyfriend – he gave me a little booklet about Virginia livestock laws – what a guy…I was hoping for bling…but when I found out all the trouble I could get into – oh I was constantly checking fences and gates and I only had seven acres.

Re: Willie Morris and Randall Snead:

B stated: “On the surface, I am confident that Willie Morris did not know Morgan. Having spoken to some of his friends and relatives, I do not think for 10 seconds he had any involvement. Frankly, I wish I had the opportunity to have met him, he sounds like my kinda sheriff.
My question is why Snead responded to his emergency call when I was told he was on desk duty while the Eppard case was under investigation.”

I too am and have been completely confident in stating that Willie Morris neither knew Morgan Harrington nor was his suicide related to her murder. I am very glad that Corrine Geller has gone on record in an attempt to clarify and mitigate any continued confusion about this.

B, based on our off-line conversations and communications, I know you would indeed have liked Willie. [To know Willie was to either love him or hate him; I think most people loved him.] While he was certainly a character in some ways, and sometimes employed unique and, uh, rather unconventional means to meet his goals (e.g., bake sales to raise money for the sheriff’s dept.), he was definitely known to be a cop’s cop.

All that said, I remain untroubled by the fact that Major Randall Snead, while on desk duty, responded to the call to Willie’s home. Not only had Willie and Snead shared a long history together, but when a panic alarm at a LEO’s home goes off in the middle of the day–or any time, for that matter–that immediately sets off HUGE alarm bells and red flags to any other LEO listening or aware. I can very easily see Snead responding immediately to such an alarm. Snead–like so many others–knew that Willie had retired and had been experiencing a debilitating illness. I’m certain his concern was for Willie and Willie alone when that alarm went off…again, having nothing to do with Morgan’s murder.

O, My friend, I never said it had anything to do with Morgan, I questioned why if he were on desk duty, with several other LEO on duty why break protocol? Twice in a row actually.

Rules apply to everyone, they are not selective. What example is that for other LEO’s?

If Police need policing, we are in a breach of public trust, not ok.

From Bella Morte’s fb page, info section: “Their most recent release, Bleed the Grey Sky Black, was produced by John Morand (Lamb of God, Gwar, Cracker, Hanson)”. So they have some ties to LOG, it seems. Drummer BS lives where the shirt was found, and says he was at the Metallica concert Oct. 17. Possible he/and friends were only there for LOG, and left after they played? Could they be the BIB?
