North Garden, VA– Morgan Harrington, the 20 year old fair-haired, radiant beauty, was brutally murdered after disappearing from the John Paul Jones arena the evening of October 17, 2009.

Morgan Bridge

Morgans remains were recovered the morning of January 26, 2010 in a hayfield on Anchorage Farm, owned by David and Nancy Bass.

Since Morgan was found by Mr. Bass that blackest of days in January, there has been rampant speculation about her last hours and how she ended up in the creek bed of total strangers.

A sequence of events and incidents in the days and hours preceding and following the January 26, 2010, discovery of Morgan Harrington’s skeletal remains on Anchorage Farm continues to attract attention from pundits and volunteers dedicated to Morgan’s cause.

Although naysayers point to a lack of a viable connection, and police have disavowed a link, others say emergency services runs to a nearby fire and also other responses which are  not supported by publicly available documentation has led to calls for more complete disclosure to eliminate any connection or chance of prank calls to misdirect or busy first responders.

The editors of www.blinkoncrime.com present  a series of events occurring in Albemarle County, VA that pose the question:

What the Hell is going on and what does it have to do with Morgan Harrington’s murder?

The Monsoons of Albemarle County …. PD

Ok, maybe I meant “The monsoor”. Karl Monsoor that is.

Former Officer Karl Monsoor had been tugging on the shirtail of ACPD for years before he finally left with pocketfuls of sunshine. Almost 500 G’s.

It is not my intention to be glib, it is my intention to say that as one of the youngest police departments in the country, enacted in 1983, this tank needed algeacide before this past March.

Death By Cop.. January 1, 2010

Colby Eppard driver seatColby Eppard, described by some as a cross between Gomer Pyle and cool hand luke, had the rawest of deals growing up in Greene County.

According to his foster-mommy-aunt, Tammy Harlow Cox, Colby was hit by a car at a very young age and suffered a brain injury that apparently served to shape his future of home upheavel and juvenile detention facilities.

Ms. Cox, to whom Colby Eppard was entrusted for a time as a foster parent, is no stranger to the judicial system. Tammy was arrested for admittedly having sex with 3 High School seniors athletes on the Varsity Football Team, where her own sons attended. The same school Colby elected to leave without his diploma.

Colby’s family recalls better times, and I don’t think anyone believes this is the last we have heard of this case.

Specifically under VA statute, Greene County Captain Randall Snead was out of his jurisdiction, both when he was called about Colby stealing the patrol car and the fact that he was in North Garden, Albemarle County, looking for it. It would seem the Greene County Roster could accommodate a deputy vs. a captain to respond, no?  Keep in mind, EVERY responding officer was put on desk duty pending the investigation, through at least February 9th, 2010.

While the attorney for the Commonwealth, Denise Lunsford has cleared all officers from all participating counties involved, none of the dash cams have been released despite requests through The Freedom of Information Act..

According to Ms. Lunsford, in an incident that spanned almost 70 miles and over 2 and a half hours where traffic was rerouted and stringers were used, Colby Eppard was allegedly wielding the 20 gauge Greene County Issue out the windows, not one LEO attempted to engage or respond to Eppard in an effort to get him to pull over, or negotiate his surrender at any time.

In fact, according to statements from Snead, Albemarle Deputies Fields and Marden, they were all in place on the south junction of 20 “in the event” he went that way, yet, they did not block traffic until after the stinger caused Eppard to crash.

My biggest question regarding this incident is: Did anyone ask Colby Eppard why he would take the truck and 2 rifles on New Years day ending up in Albemarle County?

Was it related to a New Years Eve occurrance of a friend, family member or associate of his? After Sgt. Hutchinson loses Eppard near the Nelson line, the next time he is seen is parked on Green Creek Rd, back in Albemarle.

What route did he take from 29 South to end up there? Was he seeking Red Hill Road where the overdose call came in to EMS the night before?

By all accounts he was a troubled young man with challenges throughout his young 18 years.

Additionally corroborated by those that knew him, he was never violent to anyone. There were over 6 Law Enforcement Officers from 4 different jurisdictions this man encountered before he hit just below Carters Bridge; 14 by the time the stolen vehicle ended up in the ditch.

Not one of them spoke or attempted to speak to Colby Wade Eppard at anytime he was on the police radio for over 2 hours. Was there an order given not to?

How is it that not one officer responded to Eppards threats, which were even being monitored by the media at this point in an effort to have a peaceful result to this situation?

Did Eppard have a cell phone with him and have the records been checked?

Cort EppardDid he call anyone, like Amber Rogers, his off-again girlfriend of 3 years? His brother Courtney or any of his friends?

In the preliminary release by the Virginia State Police, it stated Eppard returned to his crashed 2006 Ford Ranger truck prior to stealing the unmarked Green Cty car. If he were attempting to have a police stand off, why would he not take the two rifles he brought with him? He left his guns behind.

It also states in the report that Eppard is seen on the video from the STOLEN police car retrieving the shotgun from the trunk and loading it, how is that possible considering all the cameras are dash mounted?

Can someone explain to me how the officers have been cleared, but the footage of  both Eppards actions and their responses, the very evidence of the incident cannot be released? One of the officers involved, Caleb Marden, was fired for reasons nobody is willing to comment on.

There is only ONE way that is legal; if is part of an ONGOING investigation.

So what investigation is it an active part of?

(Editors note: If Mr. Eppard put ANYONE’s safety at risk through his actions, in the end, I say what happened to him was done to protect others, which I support. That said, as it was not so long ago a Virginia Conservation Officer was indicted for the involuntary manslaughter of a 16 year old kid whose girlfriend he was trying to grab out of his moving car, and later had the charges dismissed, I think it is worthy of conversation.)

Byrd Watching DungSmoke – January 22, 2010

Dung burning

James Byrd Gunn, resident or squatter at 5027 Stoney Point Rd, Barboursville, VA owned by Piedmont Manor Land Trust, was busted for possession of Marijuana with intent to deliver, and possession of a firearm as a felon.

GunnStonyPointRdTODAY, Mr. Big Gunn is on the Run-Run. He was indicted on both counts Monday and declared a fugitive this afternoon.

In a SEPERATE arrest  on January 23rd, 2010, Jeremy Manning– Smith Manning Smith(JMS) with the cool  144 acre pad in Keswick, also indicted on 4/5/2010 , may turn to the fivefold plan to help him out. JMS keeps a cool $55K recession-proof wad around for emergencies. Mr. Manning-Smith is a long time composter, although he never really states what he is growing.

Lisa Powers, copperworks and the fivefold planners say burn the dung. They are pals, although I doubt she is securing his bond.

Cash Runs OUT.. January 24th, 2010

Jason Todd Cash, with NO CHARGES OR WARRANTS PENDING allegedly tries to kill a cop when he is stopped in Nelson Cty in a vehicle registered to someone in Buckingham County. Remind you of anyone? He ran from the scene, leaving the vehicle and eluded police on foot.

The vehicle was impounded. He apparently is driving on a revoked license, which county has that occurred in? We will get back to J-money.

NON Garden Party…. January 25th

At approximately 10PM on the evening of January 25, Albemarle County Fire and rescue services responds to a call at the 37 acre farm of award winning gardening and horticulture experts John Sauer and his wife Cathy Clary. It is listed as a tactical incident rescue and as of March 24, 2010 is still an open incident.  What was it? Who or what needed rescuing?

Mr. Sauer is the long-time gardner for Carr’s Hill, the residence of the President of UVA. Carr’s Hill was the former site of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity until 2003 when it was moved by the city to it’s current location on Culbreth. Ms. Clary is a horticulture proffessor at UVA, and most recently taught a home landscaping course which included a field trip the afternoon of Saturday October 17, 2009.

The Sauers are also members of Piedmont Landscaping Association, which is open to anyone in the landscaping field and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.

Interestingly enough, there were several fire alarm activations on the UVA campus on this same day. Faulkner House reported a residential fire around 4:10 am.

Threes Company,  Four is Combustible..Jan 26th

Sutherland Firefd

Sometime after 10PM, the residential fire at 3323 Sutherland Rd breaks out.

This would be the fire that is still an OPEN INCIDENT.

This fire,as you can see, was no curling-iron-left-on.

It allegedly started after the residents were asleep, although they had all apparently packed their belongings and were on a month to month lease, 2 had already moved out.

In fact, according to Peruvian vacationer and dog owner of Blanca, the pit bull that perished in the blaze, he was not aware of the fire until days after the fact because he was with friends in Peru.

Kevin Terlep

Convenient, if you ask me, as he has a previous weed distribution and subsequent traffic charge in December 2009.

Meet new pup to the left. In fairness to fair-weather k9’s of America, he was only asking for dog-sitting, and not on the lease.  Choose your kenneling wisely people.

The residential fire at the 3000 block of Sutherland Rd has some issues. For starters, you have the first press release regarding the possible accidental fire since as far back as 2003 before a cause determination has been made.

Additionally the release itself appears to have missed the fact that approximately 2 hours after the last apparatus departs, there is an additional call back to the property requiring 12 responders within minutes of the discovery of Morgan Harrington’s remains. They may have literally passed each other on Route 29; they definitely would have heard the dispatcher.

Sutherland

The former owner of the Sutherland property is buried on Anchorage Farm. A relative of the current owners has hunted the Anchorage Farm property.

The band in the image on the left is pictured practicing in the Sutherland home.

A firefighter, whose identity blinkoncrime is choosing to withhold, who fought the fire, without sleeping took an impromptu trip to New Jersey with his ..”aunt, uncle, cousin, his cousins uncle and a friend..” at 10:23PM January 27th, driving straight through without stopping and returned to North Garden by 1:45PM January 28th.  Through his own facebook postings, he spends the bulk of his time when he is not volunteering for the North Garden Fire Department at his cousins; a Toco Hill address also listed as the home for a recently released registered sex offender.

Retired Greene Sheriff Takes His Own Life.. January 28

There is no evidence to suggest that William “Willie” Linwood Morris’s suicide has anything in common with the Morgan Harrington’s case directly, with the exception that there are obviously folks that knew him as well as other individuals being discussed. I have spoken with a family member, and an individual who has known him for twenty years and by those accounts Willie was in deep discomfort from the tinnicus he suffered from.

He took care of every detail prior to ending his life behind the barn on his farm in Stanardsville, VA, including withdrawing the cash for his own funeral.

Willie Morris was found by Captain Randall Snead, who was allegedly supposed to be on desk duty until the Eppard case investigation was completed.  According to Commonwealth Attorney Denise Lunsford, that was not completed until February 9, 2010, almost 2 weeks later.

Cash is Busted on a Tip.. March 19

Not long out of Nelson County jail for a non-violent offense, Jason Todd Cash is being held in Albemarle County jail since his arrest around 1am the morning of Friday March 19.

One has to wonder if the tip about where Jmoney was hanging out on Secretary Sand Rd from his kin in Amherst.

Clint Cash, a registered sex offender was arrested in December on a felony parole violation and is facing some heavy time . His wife Donna, had just pled guilty to a misdemeanor the day before the tip came in regarding JT Cash’s whereabouts and received a suspended sentence.

Jason Cash was apprehended with help from Bink, the new Albemarle County k9 when the house he was staying in on Secretary Sands was raided and he attempted to stay hidden inside.

What are Coincidences… What are clues?

The aforementioned volunteer for NGVFD lives in same stretch of Secretary Sands Rd.

Yet another relative of Jason Cash, a registered Sex Offender, shares an employer with the cousin of “volunteer”, and volunteer; specializing in outdoor landscape lighting.

Colby Eppard was stopped in the area of Green Creek Rd that is a large parcel of land owned by  Cash family member.

As far as making allegations in this report, there are none. The investigation of the events contained herein are entirely based on public information and witness accounts.

I have come to the conclusion that while we cannot say specifically which one of the issues discussed directly relate to the murder of Morgan Harrington, a primary or secondary scene integral to the investigation of same, and the hunt for her killer(s), but I do believe the incidents need to explored fully in a public forum.

A few simple questions, please? I’m hoping for a few simple answers.

Why was there a change in plans of who was actually supposed to attend the concert? Why was DC made the “chosen one”, I mean the DD. Who was supposed to have gone instead, and why didn’t SHE go?

    ********

That is what I asked. IIRC, wasn’t the orginal rider Dan’s girlfriend, Amy’s sister? I could be wrong, likely am, but it definitely was a girl. You wonder if that change occurred that very day or before hand? Did that add to the tension of the evening? From personal experience, if there was to be a DD, they usually didn’t take over until the way home. Not before the party started. So, sounds like maybe some fun may in fact have begun in Harrisonburg. Was there a caravan of cars heading to Charlottesville from JMU? Is that how Gardner & CO landed in the next parking space? If so, do we still think Morgan was studying in the car? She may have had good intentions, but I imagine it wasn’t successful.
Also, recall DG stated they weren’t exactly tailgating”. I wonder how out of context that response was? I would think that is a simple yes or no. Many angles to ponder.

    Hi Blink

Just want to say thanks for all you do for the victims. I know that’s what drives you. Your intentions are obvious, if we just go back and read BOC before any of us heard about precious Morgan. Girl, you don’t give up when the going gets tough. I don’t need to say hang in there, because you will. It’s not about who’s right, who’s wrong, it’s about justice for a murdered girl, Morgan Harrington. It’s about justice for Christine, Caylee, Haleigh, Somer, to name a few, but the list goes on. I may not be much help with finding things that will lead to an arrest, but it’s not because I wouldn’t like to. I do know that I’m here for support to Morgan’s family and justice for Morgan. That’s where we stand.

Thanks Blink, Mom3, Eloise, Judi and so many others who have diligently searched those videos for months. I don’t know how the end results will turn out, but it’s the reason for the effort behind that grueling work that’s important.

Thanks to every poster here, who so diligently seeks our combined goal. Justice.

I just want to say that I think it’s very easy for some of us here to become frustrated as this investigation continues. However, I have to just keep telling myself there is more to this than any of us knows. It is not the obligation of LE, the Harrington’s or Morgan’s friends to come on to a public forum such as this to give us the very details that we so desperately seek. I know that is what we want, but to them they are doing just as LE has instructed them. If they let even one detail slip, that LE did not want disclosed, what does that do to the investigation? Maybe nothing or maybe something. If I were Morgan’s friend or family member, the last thing I would want to do is jeopardize the investigation. Morgan and her friends made poor decisions that night. Decisions that will likely haunt them for the rest of their lives. If they come out guns-a-blazin, to defend themselves now and say something to hinder the investigation then they surely wouldn’t be doing anything to help Morgan or her family. IMO

Peggy says: “Why on earth would they walk around the arena looking for her–They ALL had cell phones! And we know she didn’t receive any texts or calls from her “friends” prior to the 8:48 phone call…right?”
Maybe Morgan was ignoring the friends’ calls to her. Most cell phones have caller I.D. that displays the caller’s name and/or phone number. If the friends had been arguing, I can see that Morgan might ignore their calls. When she got stuck outside the arena, she finally picked up Sarah’s call.

I want to stress I do not know the factual answer to that question, but if this jogs someone’s memory….was Morgan Nichols, who I think was Dan Cassagne’s girlfriend at the time, and also a friend of Morgan/Amy/Sarah, the fourth ticket-holder? I don’t think I have ever read or heard the “why” of Morgan Nichols’ giving Dan the ticket.

I do think DMB’s 10:47 am post above is a good explanation of why we will never hear any explanations, at minimum until the bad guy(s) are in jail, possibly never.

the one thing we havent really seen here, and for good reason probably, is a “victomology” on Morgan…i know this is a very important tool for profilers

without getting too personal Blink, and i know that Morgan has been portrayed as a sweet young lady, but to what extent do we know about things such as “hard headedness”, “spitefulness”, jealousy, did she have a propensity to “cut off her nose to spite her face”, was she a “flirt”…?? there are more questions that i think could help, but are way more personal and quite frankly, none of my business since i am not a homicide detective assigned to her case…

i think that answers to some of these questions may help us determine why she argued?? how she might have responded to an argument?? why she walked away?? and maybe why she left the arena, if in fact it was of her own accord…??

  9. Eloise says:

Does anyone else now reconsider the info of Morgan texting the guy in the band? I wonder what info LE obtained from this? Did she discuss the argument during the text? I wonder if that is how LE found out there was an argument? Was it ever specified when that text ocurred in context to the call from SS at 8:48? I wonder if he gave her any advice on her circumstances? I would doubt he would suggest hitching a ride. Maybe he suggested her hailing a cab?
A little thought on the questionable debt card use. Recently a physician came to me to report that the ATM in the hospital was not working. Upon investigation, the Bank told me that the machine was working, but that someone just made 3 attempts to withdraw money off of a Visa, which this machine did not support. So, is it possible that Morgan attempted to have a transaction at an ATM, was unsuccessful for whatever reason, & this is the only activity that was determined when looking at her card activity? Or she could have simply made a balance inquiry, thinking her folks had made a deposit?
I am straining my brain in trying to nail down her activities, it is so hard!

  10. bob-dog says:

IIRC, Morgan went to several entrances trying to get back into the arena and talked with several JPJ workers who denied her re-entrance (or was that another rumor?). We have heard that she argued with a female security guard/ticket-taker. And wasn’t it DW/M who posted that Morgan said she was looking for her friends? So, while someone could have been watching her and even followed her, I don’t think she was forced out of the arena and hustled off.

The question remains, if her friends were inside, who was she looking for outside? Or was she looking for her friends when she accidentally left the arena or left not knowing about the re-entry policy? Remember, she was impaired in some way. I remember those days, and I think it’s plausible that she just never considered that she couldn’t re-enter — or, depending on how impaired she was — thought she was going into a smoking area.

Or perhaps she told SS in the 8:48 phone call that she couldn’t get back in and wanted someone to meet her at an entrance with her car keys, and she was looking for that person at the entrances/exits.

I’m concerned that the so-called friends could have pulled a mean-girl trick of some kind on her

  11. HokieHi says:

Do we know the length of the call?

    …”brief”..
Is how it was described to me.
    B

Interesting. You just had a fight with a friend, you’re outside the arena and can’t get back in but you don’t call your friends. They call you. To me, this seems to imply that if you won’t call them to help you back in (or at least give you YOUR keys back) then you are probably still a little pissed off. Why then would you say you’ll find a way home and they can keep YOUR car and have a good time? I know everyone’s different but in that situation, I’m going to take my ball and go home. I don’t understand how that call could have been brief if Morgan truly said she was going to get a ride home.

  12. HokieHi says:

Did one or all of the friends get Attorneys? I’ve seen at least DC did but I don’t know what is factual. Do we know that any or all of the 3 got lawyers?

Also, is there confirmation that these 3 went back to Harrisonburg that night? Reports are they stayed at the car for significant time waiting on Morgan but can anyone confirm that the 3 showed up in Harrisonburg Saturday night?

    Mary, Total, Blink and all-

I feel very out of sorts also. WTH is going on?

Blink reviewed a video, she believes with every fiber of her being it shows Morgan.

Blink has several emails from friends saying it is Morgan, she has a source that is contradicting the account that it is not them.

All hell has broke out over this video.

    Why?

We have all been wrong before.
Fish and I and all of BOC, have brought lots of videos here all speculating that any # of the girls in those videos could be Morgan and her friends. Blink and all have watched them. We have even stated our beliefs, more than a couple of times, that we believed at least one of more of these videos DID show Morgan and her friends. As far as I can tell, they have been watched at other sites as well.

No matter how many videos we watched and discussed, and were talked about on other sites, as being THE one, NEVER has there been this much denial, controversy or meanness being thrown about.

    Why?

We have discussed many videos all of which the friends could have commented on- besides the Dee video, no one offered a denial of any of those videos. This one, that may show Morgan not feeling well, the next day, we hear from someone that says it could not be them.

    Why?

We hear tell the next day, that the friends say- we never left our seats in sec. 312. We hear tell that DC never left the concert. All with 100% certainty. Why didn’t they say this earlier? It could have saved our eyes and the Harrington’s anguish.
    Why this video?

    Why?

With so many questions to be answered, why take this one to the friends? Why did they respond? What is so special about this video? It is very hard to watch, very dark, no front view- mostly silhouettes. Why not just keep quiet? Silence has been what we expect. Why break it now?

Or did they? I am going back to reading only here. I think everything else just adds to my confusion. Instead of clearing up issues, more seem to arise. I feel like I am in the Twilight Zone- up is down -down is up.

Blink, I hope you will keep us in the know, regarding anything of significance.

    Of course.

I heart and respect you, Mom 3.0.

I know there were reports that Morgan was dropping her purse in the parking lot. Does anyone know if this was before she went into the concert or after she got locked out? Did the accountant, kickee, or the bball players confirm she was wearing or carrying her purse?

  18. localcvillegirl says:

belleboyd, from 11:16 this am: I had not seen the news this morning about the fake cop in Waynesboro. The person who pulled up behind the girl (in downtown C’ville, late Feb.) who was (supposedly) being grabbed by several men in another car said he was an off-duty detective. I have not seen my friend to ask about this girl, but hope she did eventually make a statement to police. I’m not sure anything came of it because I didn’t see anything in the Hook, they usually love to write about crime. And they really love it if they can use their story to bash the cops.

  19. Twinkletoes says:

This is from someone called “hidingunderafakename” from The Hook’s web site. It seems well reasoned considering the lack of evidence in this case:

“. . . Now what I find ironic is so many quickly discount the sittings of Morgan in various locations but accept Morgan was hitchhiking on a bridge . If we cannot accept Morgan was in Orange VA then what makes statements Morgan was hitchhiking on a Bridge so credible ? Why are we accepting Morgan was hitchhiking when her personal items including cell phone were found sans the battery hundreds of feet away from her last “supposed” sitting. Speaking of witnesses , where are the witnesses that seen Morgan “hitchhiking” . With social networking rampant in todays world does anyone else find it amazing that we have people who drove over Copley bridge in the timeline given by police that never seen Morgan or anyone else on the Copley bridge hitching but we haven’t heard a word after thousands of hours of Public investment to bring Morgans KILLER to justice . With today’s social networking it is hard to keep people quiet for 6 minutes , 6 months makes me feel the witnesses never existed in the first place .

Keep in mind the blue ridge parkway shooting . The first hand witness reports were far from even close to factual . Understood with the situation that animal put those kids in . Witness accounts of events are notorious to be miserably wrong . So I ask again , what creditable information is available Morgan was hitchhiking on the Copley bridge ? I feel Morgan walking away from UVA/JPJA to hitchhike to her death sounds better that a blitz attack where her personal items lay after being denied reentry as a paying customer whom was injured inside JPJA. Amazingly we have an announcer run over by a monster truck and video hits the internet within hours . Its been 6 months and we have yet to see not a single video clip from a post 9/11 state of the art facility with a price tag of around 162 MILLION dollars showing Morgan Harrington anywhere on UVA property , how conveniant .”

  20. Twinkletoes says:

Another of the multitude of things that bothers me in this case is that it seems to be just accepted by the LE that Morgan’s car remained at the concert site all evening. It makes absolutely no sense that she would leave her own car there and tell her friends she would get a ride home from someone else. Most people would say, hey, I am locked out and I can’t get back in. Please come to the front to toss me my keys or to give them to a guard to give to me or something to that effect. There would have been a conversation about the car with the person who held the keys. I am starting to think that the person who held the keys actually currently holds the key.

    Dan Harrington’s Mini Press Conference

    ——————————————————————————–

Pippi, asked if I would answer some questions. I have posted the questions and answers below:

    1. I asked earlier and you said no pictures or video of Morgan or her three friends in JPJ Arena. Do you believe they were ever there? Did other witness that knew them see them there?

To the best of my knowledge there are no pictures or video of Morgan in or out of the building.

    2. With no pictures and no video is the only confirmation Morgan attended the concert the word of her friends?

I have no reason to believe that Morgan skipped the concert; she had been looking forward to it for months. Her presence has been reported by eyewitnesses (per description) that Morgan was present in the parking lot before the concert, in JPJ, and in the parking lots after she left the building.

    3. Are there any photos taken of Morgan after she left your home on the afternoon of Oct. 17?

None that have come to light.

    4. When you called Amy Oct. 18 what was her reaction?

I did not initially speak to Amy, I spoke (as I recall) to Sarah, I was upset and scared, and I knew Morgan something terrible had happened to her. I spoke to Amy when she brought Morgan’s car back on the evening of October 18. I do not recall the conversation; I was in a state of shock.

    5. Was Morgan’s car every processed by LE? If not why?

Morgan’s car was searched by police.

    6. Was Morgan ever stalked or followed or afraid?

    Not that I am aware.

    7. Why did Morgan feel the need to deadbolt her bedroom door at Blacksburg?

During times she and Amy had friends over or parties, friends/visitors would be in and out of her bedroom. She wanted her privacy and did not want people coming into her room when she was not there. She was quite organized and had fairly nice jewelry.

    8. Where did the girls go before the concert?

Morgan and Amy went to JMU to Sarah’s house. I do not know what they did in Harrisonburg. I do not believe they went anywhere else in Charlottesville.

    9. Did Morgan know the BB players previous to Oct. 17?

    Not to my knowledge.

    10. Has Morgan’s necklace ever been found?

That is part of the investigation.

    11. What articles were found with Morgan?

The chunky silver bracelet that Gil gave to her was give back to us. The rest of the information is part of the investigation.

    12. Was Morgan shot as Gil hinted at?

The details and cause of death are part of the investigation.

    13. Did Morgan or the Harrington Family have any ties to AF?

No, despite Gil’s maiden name being White, she had no connection to AF.

    14. Did Morgan ever attend parties or have friends living at North Garden?

Morgan had visited her brother when he was in school; she occasionally went to concerts in Charlottesville. To my knowledge she had never been there.

    15. Was Mr. Bass home the day and night of Oct. 17? The day and night of Oct. 18?

I am told no, but I have no confirmation of that.
    .
    16. Do you believe AF holds the key to Morgan’s murder?

I believe it is part of the puzzle. One would have had prior knowledge of AF for her body to be were it was found.

    17. Why was the sighting of Morgan by Mrs. Parsons the newspaper lady discounted?

I do not think it was, I still believe it is a possibility, I do not think it is a closed deal.

    18. Are there any sightings of Morgan after 10:00 pm October 17?

Not to my knowledge, unless she was on the lawn.

    19. Why were the friends that went to the concert not concerned when Morgan did not arrive to drive home with them?

I think they were concerned, but I think they thought she got a ride.

    20. Did her friends think she was safe with whomever she told them she was with?

I do not believe she told them she was with anyone.

    21. Do you believe there is any connection between Morgan and Cassandra’s’ murder?

I do not rule that out.

    22. Do you think AF has anything to do with Morgan’s’ murder other than her being found there?

It has something to do with her murder, if only that it is well known to the killer(s). It is not just a random place to put her. I believe she was placed there with thoughts she would never be found. The shirt now being acknowledged as being her is significant and it was found in a mixed neighborhood (students/frats/drug users/ poor)

    23. Are there any questions you would like to add to this list before I topic it?

    No

While I tend to agree with J2K and Joe America (and Joe, your last post was spot on, imo), that chances are what happened inside the arena are inconsequential to Morgan’s demise, and an unknown predator took advantage of her in her impaired state.

Blink said there definitely was an argument, and I still have alot of questions about what transpired that night, I see no harm in going back over what info we have, and cover all bases, wrong, irrelevant, whatever…

I have always thought the statement from DG was strange, and I have a feeling his group traveled with Morgan’s group to JPJ. I’m thinking maybe SS or AM knew/knew of DG, and were kind of interested in hooking up with him or one of his group at the concert. perhaps this guy found Morgan more attractive (let’s be honest, she and AM were the most attractive of the 9), and started hitting on her instead of SS or AM. This would cause a huge stink, especially if the other girls have been jealous of Morgan for years, which I feel is entirely possible…..girls can be MEAN. Was DG or one of his group kinda following or hanging with Morgan, and she felt like she had to get away from him for the sake of her friendship? Did he/they follow/help her outside?

As J2K said, I’m sure the friends have been questioned to the hilt, including DG, so chances are the fight was relevant only in that it forced Morgan outside….but we can’t be sure of that because we don’t really know. let’s not forget at least 2 of the 9 have close relatives in LE, so….

lastly…@Kim, April29, 6:11pm, in regards to the friends:

Dear Dr. Dan, Gil and Alex,

I’m a diligent reader here at BOC News to keep up with the unfolding of your shiny daughter Morgan’s case. This is the only site on which I read about Morgan unless directed to another site by Blink (links, pictures etc.). I rely (for the most part) on SM for Haleigh and Caley news.

The desire for answers in Morgan’s case has been palpable this week. We are all so frustrated with the seemingly slow pace that the wheels of justice are turning for Sweet Morgan. I even hesitate to say (we) as I really only read here and Pray, while giving support in the background. Rarely do I post.

Today I feel the need to try to convey my heartfelt feelings of love to you and your family. Once I send this off, I will say a prayer that you can feel a warm embrace from a family of one of our far Northern states. May God’s Holy Angels protect you from harsh words or any feelings of despair.

    God Bless You All!

I never leave here without feeling the genuine love that is showed here both to the victims and to each other. Skyler, I felt your frustration last night and sent prayers Heavenward for Peace and answers. You are such a gentle and beautiful soul.

I think we should avoid getting side-tracked by the girls’ argument. They all behaved irresponsibly IMO. Which is to say, they are/were very young and made mistakes. The important question is WHO “gave MH a ride.” Was it one or more of the BIB? Someone she knew (even vaguely) or a complete stranger? It does not seem like she was pushed out or lured out of the arena by someone because she never mentioned that (apparently) to “security.” More likely, she was intercepted, once outside, by a dangerous someone (or persons) looking for a potential victim. The EconoLodge story sounds like a good lead. Several of my friends–all of us in our teens many moons ago–rented a room at that very hotel to party, so I know for a fact that it happens; all it takes is a credit card. I hope that LE has interviwed and re-interviewed all “security” and EMT people at JPJ that night. Have they also interviewed local cabbies and tow truck drivers + checked their alibis for that night? Someone mentioned an attempted abduction on Market St. by a cabbie, I think, above. Bad news for C’ville women. And a man posing as a cop stopped a woman and searched her car in Waynesboro (15 minutes from C’ville, 29 S to Rte. 64 W) on April 29th. http://www.newsleader.com/article/20100429/NEWS01/100429012/Man-suspected-of-posing-as-police-officer-in-Waynesboro
Obviously, there are some nuts out there. I just hope that ALL LEADS are being pursued.

bob-dog I agree with your take.
Sometimes girls get mad a one another and do underhanded things. Besides the fact that they were at a venue that encourages poor behavior, something could have happened in the car and continued at the arena.
These girls in my opinion should be heavly questioned by LE. They are directly responsible for each other and they certainly failed Morgan.
There has been remarks that Morgan was impaired in some way and that she fell in the restroom. Good responsible friends do not let one of their party go off alone when they appear to be impaired.
This shows the real lack of maturity on the part of kids this age. University students or not.

  29. Kristin says:

I’ve have read almost every comment made on this site since Morgan went missing… only posted a couple of times. I continue to be amazed at the information that can be dug up with a little effort. Olivia’s post got me thinking about something that happened to a friend’s daughter recently…

Situation: My friend’s daughter “A” was on Spring Break last month in a popular spot with her friends. My friend gets a hysterical phone call in the middle of the night from her daughter, begging her to get her a plane ticket home ASAP. Apparently, one of the girls had become obnoxiously drunk at a club and was on the verge of getting thrown out, so “A”, who was the most level headed at the time, tried to take care of the situation and get the other girl to leave. The other girl causes even more of a scene at the suggestion of leaving (which happens nightly in clubs everywhere). “A”, who is now highly annoyed with the other girl, says some below the belt things to her, which results in the other girl punching her in the face. “A” fled the club in a hurry and this is where my friend gets the phone call from her. She is in a strange city 1000 miles away, upset, and trying to get back to the hotel. She ends up getting a cab, and my friend stays on the phone with her until she is safely locked in the hotel room. Fast forward to the next morning, my friend calls her daughter, fully expecting to have to get her a ticket home, and all of the girls are together on the beach having a blast. The past evening apparently not a second thought on their now sober minds…

This got me thinking, perhaps Morgan was the MOST level headed out of all of them that evening. Could it be that Morgan was trying to be the most responsible and felt the wrath of one of the other 2 girls and got so pissed she got away from them.

I just can’t see them letting Morgan go to the bathroom by herself if she was the most messed up out of them. Girls always go and hold hair back for their friends. If Morgan had fallen and was injured, or had vomited, I can’t imagine her friends would have just let her go the bathroom by herself. Hence Sarah calling her when they realized how pissed off Morgan was. This could have happened frequently within their circle and the next morning, when sober minds prevail, everything was okay with all. Perhaps one of them got in the altercation with her and that is how she cut her chin??? Would they want the world to know that and see them as terrible people. Without knowledge of what truly happened that evening, so many have judged them as terrible people already! Not defending them, just presenting a possible scenario. Now we have a pissed off, impaired Morgan, and no one has her back. What a dangerous combo for making bad choices you wouldn’t normally make…

PS. Not at all blaming the victim, just trying to get a grip of what may have transpired

  30. mary says:

    Joe America,
Nice post. Since you mentioned me by name, I’d like to make clear that the issue I had with you was not the content of your posts but the tone. No one of a scientific bent has been unwelcome here. To the contrary, I believe I understand Blink’s primary objective to be the finding of fact. I admired your work on the location of the body and I look forward to your continued contributions.

A well integrated individual has the ability to take both fact and feeling into consideration. The post of yours I took issue with dealt with your less than friendly comments regarding the rocks that our posters were attempting to place at Morgan’s Memorial on the bridge, a project that was started by Morgan Harrington’s parents themselves.

I know there are a lot of very intelligent people on this forum. I am patiently waiting for one of them to tell me WHO picked Morgan up, murdered her and placed her body at Anchorage Farm. While that may have been a random encounter for Morgan, it was most certainly not a random body disposal site for the perpetrator.

I have to agree with Oliva’s post #23 as she makes some very good points. Goes back to what LE said about they are not so concerned about what happened inside JPJ. Sure, it appears the “3″ + Guy got wasted and perhaps got way out of sorts with each other. But I do believe that Morgan for whatever reason was very pissed at her friends and walked away. Probably to the point of not even caring about the seeing Metalica. We will never know, so forget about it.

So, outside and into the night. Was it the BIB, a bad taxi driver, the 29 stalker, a friend of a friend… That’s what LE is working on and what Dr. Harrington is talking about. Drunk friends aside, there is a bad person on the loose in Cville who needs to be brought down.

Sure, it is nice to blow off steam and play the blame game. Cat fights, drug and alcohol indulgence, falling down and hitting ones chin. Bla, bla bla. Sorry friends, I do believe that Morgan walked out innocently into the night and unfortunately into the hands of a predator. Bad luck of the draw and that is why we all find it so horrific.

By the way, spring has sprung here in VA and I may take a ride up Rt. 6 and have a look about in the AM. If I see anything interesting up around NG, I promise to keep my dogs and golf clubs, etc., etc.,in the vehicle and away from certain faces. Just kidding.

TO: juliemooly, re: Morgan’s ROCKS: Thanks so much for the offer again to take pictures of any rocks sent to the p.o. box here in CV. I’ll check the box again tomorrow and will post here on BOC if any have arrived. If so, I’ll place them immediately thereafter at Morgan’s memorial on Copeley.

O/T, re: “blue light security phones” on campus: As mentioned in a thread very early on, UVA has prominently placed numerous blue light phones all around Grounds that may be used by anyone in an emergency. I just spent the last three days at Harvard and noticed while there that they have the same blue light phones all around their campus. I mention this because I don’t recall any phones like this while I was an undergrad—although that was admittedly sometime back in The Dark Ages. It may be that most colleges and universities today have installed similar security phones; one might only hope so.

TO: cosmo: you stated in part:
“…you are being duped in your area. this case continues to make it evident that it is the community vs. University and the University continues to win at the expense of the community.”

With all due respect, I do not believe the above assertions could possibly be any more inaccurate a representation of the local dynamics associated with this investigation.

    As localcvillegirl stated in response:

“But Cosmo, I live here and am part of both the UVa and local communities, and this is not about UVa v. Charlottesville. Everyone wanted Morgan to be found, and everyone wants Morgan’s killers brought to justice. There is not a huge public rift in this case, honestly. Nobody knows much of anything, and if you were actually here and talking to residents you’d see that no one is blaming anyone else. (Please don’t rely on bloggers from some of the local papers for your information, thanks.)”

Thank you, localcvillegirl, for expressing my own sentiments so well in this regard. I underscore your commentary.

All: I would like to nominate DMB’s post below to be the Post-of-the-Week:

“I just want to say that I think it’s very easy for some of us here to become frustrated as this investigation continues. IMO”

    Well said, DMB; well said.

Likewise, joeamerica, your earlier post. Thank you for such an articulate, well-considered perspective.

    Nice to see you O-

Very heartfelt and candid, I appreciate you.

Well it sure has been awhile. My take hasn’t changed. Totally random nutcase, wrong place wrong time. Some degree of disconnect to the location of the body. Could be as simple as someone took him up there one day innocently (probably a friend of a friend of a landscaper or former landscaper) at which time he scoped it as a perfect place to commit a horrible crime. He was presented with the opportunity to do so that night. Removed battery from phone when he took her. Assault may have occurred or began in vehicle. IMO the purse and shirt were still in the vehicle after the body was disposed. Brought the purse back to the parking lot and dumped the shirt on the street after that. Absent of any current database DNA match, or that one person who knows something really trivial stepping forward, this crime will only be solved if and when the perp gets caught for something else and has to submit DNA…and this is with the hopeful assumption that they have a DNA sample or other forensic evidence to work with from the body or, more likely, the shirt. Can’t help but think the NYPD would have handled this case much differently from the onset (releasing info, utilizing the press from day one, etc). VSP dropped the ball. My two cents, keep the change. Back under me rock.

Perhaps LE has already done this, but:

People who buy concert tickets usually have to purchase them with a credit card. If the sales records are reviewed, they should be able to track who was seated in the area near the people in the video. They could then interview this specific group of people from that area, and see if they have photos or video from the concert. Perhaps they even witnessed something. Same goes for the area where Morgan and her friends tickets were. It’s a fair bet that there’s alot more evidence out there yet to be revealed that will either confirm or debunk the friends accounts of what transpired in the arena.

This is the only video or picture I’ve seen that gives me a GOOD feeling. There is an awful lot in that blurry little video that fits.

  40. suz says:

HokieHi, thanks for that great post pinpointing Morgan’s position in that video. I had placed her at 315 because it was not far from her seats and was also near the smoking section, so it made sense to me that she would be standing near that gate to the concourse (going to or coming from smoking). And it lined up with the stage much better than 312, which is in an entirely different place. But the more I tried to look across the arena to get my bearings, the more it didn’t seem like they were up that high. Then you posted that great post, and someone on FM posted a different video taken from a known section (314 or 317 or something) and it’s wayyyyyyy up there in the nosebleeds—-a totally different perspective than in the other video where we finally see Morgan.

I used to think I saw her start to fall, but now I think she was just taking a step back, or turning to look out into the concourse or to get ready to go through the tunnel. Not sure. Also can’t tell if she is “with” any of the people she is standing near, or not.

Joe, I’m sure someone here can tell you where Cassandra was found. I want to say it was the same mountain that Liberty University is on. Anyway, she was found in the woods but I believe it was a shallow grave and IIRC she was covered with rocks. Don’t know if that helps any or not.

    Olivia great posts.

It’s good to see you again Observer. I have to say that I agree with you and Local. UVA is a wonderful university and I have a son there now. The posts from someone awhile back, and I can’t remember who, about the student body keeping quiet is way off base. They, as a body, quite frankly, don’t know anything to keep quiet about. If someone/several would happen to be involved, it would be that few. From time to time I would ask my son, “What’s the word about Morgan?” I could see that, basically, they know less than we. There are a lot of questions and concerns that what happened to Morgan, began right on their campus. It’s my feeling that the vast majority there, if they suspected someone, would report it immediately. I found that I had learned quite a few things, more than he’d ever heard, because of keeping up here on BOC. Anyway, I have to agree that the comments you read on news articles are the opinions of a minute group around the Charlottesville and UVA communities. Unfortunately, when devastating crimes such as these happen on a college campus, it places that university in a bad light. When all is said and done, my main concern is that LE has never felt the need to issue safety warnings to the Charlottesville and surrounding areas about a murderer/s that hasn’t been apprehended, may be, and likely is still in the area. I’m also concerned that UVA hasn’t done more to promote safety issues under the circumstances.

I pray that LE knows more than what it seems at this time and that an arrest is coming soon.

Continuous prayers for the Harrington family and may we see justice soon.

Thanks for bringing this back up, Hokie. The main reason he stood out to me was due to what you listed above – he kept popping up as a friend on MH’s friends pages and on MW/AW and their friends pages. He’s just about the only link I’ve seen between those two groups – and then being a fan of LOG just made him even more interesting. Now it could be just another one of those coincidences we keep running into, but I think he’s worth checking out.

I’ve seen a lot of people here wondering why Morgan would ever leave her car with her friends or why the friends wouldn’t bring her the keys. I think there is a lot about what happened that night that we may never know, but this scenario may give some of you wondering about the car another situation to think about:

If there was an argument and Morgan did indeed leave on her own only to get outside and, oops, forgot her keys with her friends. So she tries at several gates to get back in to get them, cannot because of the no re-entry policy. I wonder if there were missed calls each way between her and the friends, both not answering because of the argument. She finally answers SS’s call, telling her to bring the keys out to her so she can leave; SS says No Morgan, you aren’t in any state to be driving anywhere (due to drinking/drugs/etc). So Morgan says Fine, I’ll find my own way home.

The truth is that we will probably never know what happened in that phone call, I just wanted to throw another possibility out to you all about why the friends may have been left with the car.

Thanks, All, for your continued work for Morgan’s justice. I am often moved to tears by your communal heart and vibrant intellect. There is no better blog or newsource covering this case than Blinkoncrime.
    I am grateful.

    Thank You Friend, as always-
    B
