Morgan Harrington Murder: Coincidences or Clues ?
Disclaimer–
North Garden, VA– Morgan Harrington, the 20 year old fair-haired, radiant beauty, was brutally murdered after disappearing from the John Paul Jones arena the evening of October 17, 2009.
Morgans remains were recovered the morning of January 26, 2010 in a hayfield on Anchorage Farm, owned by David and Nancy Bass.
Since Morgan was found by Mr. Bass that blackest of days in January, there has been rampant speculation about her last hours and how she ended up in the creek bed of total strangers.
A sequence of events and incidents in the days and hours preceding and following the January 26, 2010, discovery of Morgan Harrington’s skeletal remains on Anchorage Farm continues to attract attention from pundits and volunteers dedicated to Morgan’s cause.
Although naysayers point to a lack of a viable connection, and police have disavowed a link, others say emergency services runs to a nearby fire and also other responses which are not supported by publicly available documentation has led to calls for more complete disclosure to eliminate any connection or chance of prank calls to misdirect or busy first responders.
The editors of www.blinkoncrime.com present a series of events occurring in Albemarle County, VA that pose the question:
What the Hell is going on and what does it have to do with Morgan Harrington’s murder?
The Monsoons of Albemarle County …. PD
Ok, maybe I meant “The monsoor”. Karl Monsoor that is.
Former Officer Karl Monsoor had been tugging on the shirtail of ACPD for years before he finally left with pocketfuls of sunshine. Almost 500 G’s.
It is not my intention to be glib, it is my intention to say that as one of the youngest police departments in the country, enacted in 1983, this tank needed algeacide before this past March.
Death By Cop.. January 1, 2010
Colby Eppard, described by some as a cross between Gomer Pyle and cool hand luke, had the rawest of deals growing up in Greene County.
According to his foster-mommy-aunt, Tammy Harlow Cox, Colby was hit by a car at a very young age and suffered a brain injury that apparently served to shape his future of home upheavel and juvenile detention facilities.
Ms. Cox, to whom Colby Eppard was entrusted for a time as a foster parent, is no stranger to the judicial system. Tammy was arrested for admittedly having sex with 3 High School seniors athletes on the Varsity Football Team, where her own sons attended. The same school Colby elected to leave without his diploma.
Colby’s family recalls better times, and I don’t think anyone believes this is the last we have heard of this case.
Specifically under VA statute, Greene County Captain Randall Snead was out of his jurisdiction, both when he was called about Colby stealing the patrol car and the fact that he was in North Garden, Albemarle County, looking for it. It would seem the Greene County Roster could accommodate a deputy vs. a captain to respond, no? Keep in mind, EVERY responding officer was put on desk duty pending the investigation, through at least February 9th, 2010.
While the attorney for the Commonwealth, Denise Lunsford has cleared all officers from all participating counties involved, none of the dash cams have been released despite requests through The Freedom of Information Act..
According to Ms. Lunsford, in an incident that spanned almost 70 miles and over 2 and a half hours where traffic was rerouted and stringers were used, Colby Eppard was allegedly wielding the 20 gauge Greene County Issue out the windows, not one LEO attempted to engage or respond to Eppard in an effort to get him to pull over, or negotiate his surrender at any time.
In fact, according to statements from Snead, Albemarle Deputies Fields and Marden, they were all in place on the south junction of 20 “in the event” he went that way, yet, they did not block traffic until after the stinger caused Eppard to crash.
My biggest question regarding this incident is: Did anyone ask Colby Eppard why he would take the truck and 2 rifles on New Years day ending up in Albemarle County?
Was it related to a New Years Eve occurrance of a friend, family member or associate of his? After Sgt. Hutchinson loses Eppard near the Nelson line, the next time he is seen is parked on Green Creek Rd, back in Albemarle.
What route did he take from 29 South to end up there? Was he seeking Red Hill Road where the overdose call came in to EMS the night before?
By all accounts he was a troubled young man with challenges throughout his young 18 years.
Additionally corroborated by those that knew him, he was never violent to anyone. There were over 6 Law Enforcement Officers from 4 different jurisdictions this man encountered before he hit just below Carters Bridge; 14 by the time the stolen vehicle ended up in the ditch.
Not one of them spoke or attempted to speak to Colby Wade Eppard at anytime he was on the police radio for over 2 hours. Was there an order given not to?
How is it that not one officer responded to Eppards threats, which were even being monitored by the media at this point in an effort to have a peaceful result to this situation?
Did Eppard have a cell phone with him and have the records been checked?
Did he call anyone, like Amber Rogers, his off-again girlfriend of 3 years? His brother Courtney or any of his friends?
In the preliminary release by the Virginia State Police, it stated Eppard returned to his crashed 2006 Ford Ranger truck prior to stealing the unmarked Green Cty car. If he were attempting to have a police stand off, why would he not take the two rifles he brought with him? He left his guns behind.
It also states in the report that Eppard is seen on the video from the STOLEN police car retrieving the shotgun from the trunk and loading it, how is that possible considering all the cameras are dash mounted?
Can someone explain to me how the officers have been cleared, but the footage of both Eppards actions and their responses, the very evidence of the incident cannot be released? One of the officers involved, Caleb Marden, was fired for reasons nobody is willing to comment on.
There is only ONE way that is legal; if is part of an ONGOING investigation.
So what investigation is it an active part of?
(Editors note: If Mr. Eppard put ANYONE’s safety at risk through his actions, in the end, I say what happened to him was done to protect others, which I support. That said, as it was not so long ago a Virginia Conservation Officer was indicted for the involuntary manslaughter of a 16 year old kid whose girlfriend he was trying to grab out of his moving car, and later had the charges dismissed, I think it is worthy of conversation.)
Byrd Watching DungSmoke – January 22, 2010
James Byrd Gunn, resident or squatter at 5027 Stoney Point Rd, Barboursville, VA owned by Piedmont Manor Land Trust, was busted for possession of Marijuana with intent to deliver, and possession of a firearm as a felon.
TODAY, Mr. Big Gunn is on the Run-Run. He was indicted on both counts Monday and declared a fugitive this afternoon.
CR10000107-00 GUNN, JAMES BYRD POSSESS MARIJUANA W/INTENT 06/07/2010 Active
CR10000169-00 GUNN, JAMES BYRD FELON W/ A FIREARM 04/08/2010 Fugitive
In a SEPERATE arrest on January 23rd, 2010, Jeremy Manning– Smith (JMS) with the cool 144 acre pad in Keswick, also indicted on 4/5/2010 , may turn to the fivefold plan to help him out. JMS keeps a cool $55K recession-proof wad around for emergencies. Mr. Manning-Smith is a long time composter, although he never really states what he is growing.
Lisa Powers, copperworks and the fivefold planners say burn the dung. They are pals, although I doubt she is securing his bond.
Cash Runs OUT.. January 24th, 2010
Jason Todd Cash, with NO CHARGES OR WARRANTS PENDING allegedly tries to kill a cop when he is stopped in Nelson Cty in a vehicle registered to someone in Buckingham County. Remind you of anyone? He ran from the scene, leaving the vehicle and eluded police on foot.
The vehicle was impounded. He apparently is driving on a revoked license, which county has that occurred in? We will get back to J-money.
NON Garden Party…. January 25th
At approximately 10PM on the evening of January 25, Albemarle County Fire and rescue services responds to a call at the 37 acre farm of award winning gardening and horticulture experts John Sauer and his wife Cathy Clary. It is listed as a tactical incident rescue and as of March 24, 2010 is still an open incident. What was it? Who or what needed rescuing?
Mr. Sauer is the long-time gardner for Carr’s Hill, the residence of the President of UVA. Carr’s Hill was the former site of the Delta Kappa Epsilon fraternity until 2003 when it was moved by the city to it’s current location on Culbreth. Ms. Clary is a horticulture proffessor at UVA, and most recently taught a home landscaping course which included a field trip the afternoon of Saturday October 17, 2009.
The Sauers are also members of Piedmont Landscaping Association, which is open to anyone in the landscaping field and the Virginia Cooperative Extension.
Interestingly enough, there were several fire alarm activations on the UVA campus on this same day. Faulkner House reported a residential fire around 4:10 am.
Threes Company, Four is Combustible..Jan 26th
Sometime after 10PM, the residential fire at 3323 Sutherland Rd breaks out.
This would be the fire that is still an OPEN INCIDENT.
This fire,as you can see, was no curling-iron-left-on.
It allegedly started after the residents were asleep, although they had all apparently packed their belongings and were on a month to month lease, 2 had already moved out.
In fact, according to Peruvian vacationer and dog owner of Blanca, the pit bull that perished in the blaze, he was not aware of the fire until days after the fact because he was with friends in Peru.
Convenient, if you ask me, as he has a previous weed distribution and subsequent traffic charge in December 2009.
Meet new pup to the left. In fairness to fair-weather k9’s of America, he was only asking for dog-sitting, and not on the lease. Choose your kenneling wisely people.
The residential fire at the 3000 block of Sutherland Rd has some issues. For starters, you have the first press release regarding the possible accidental fire since as far back as 2003 before a cause determination has been made.
Additionally the release itself appears to have missed the fact that approximately 2 hours after the last apparatus departs, there is an additional call back to the property requiring 12 responders within minutes of the discovery of Morgan Harrington’s remains. They may have literally passed each other on Route 29; they definitely would have heard the dispatcher.
The former owner of the Sutherland property is buried on Anchorage Farm. A relative of the current owners has hunted the Anchorage Farm property.
The band in the image on the left is pictured practicing in the Sutherland home.
A firefighter, whose identity blinkoncrime is choosing to withhold, who fought the fire, without sleeping took an impromptu trip to New Jersey with his ..”aunt, uncle, cousin, his cousins uncle and a friend..” at 10:23PM January 27th, driving straight through without stopping and returned to North Garden by 1:45PM January 28th. Through his own facebook postings, he spends the bulk of his time when he is not volunteering for the North Garden Fire Department at his cousins; a Toco Hill address also listed as the home for a recently released registered sex offender.
Retired Greene Sheriff Takes His Own Life.. January 28
There is no evidence to suggest that William “Willie” Linwood Morris’s suicide has anything in common with the Morgan Harrington’s case directly, with the exception that there are obviously folks that knew him as well as other individuals being discussed. I have spoken with a family member, and an individual who has known him for twenty years and by those accounts Willie was in deep discomfort from the tinnicus he suffered from.
He took care of every detail prior to ending his life behind the barn on his farm in Stanardsville, VA, including withdrawing the cash for his own funeral.
Willie Morris was found by Captain Randall Snead, who was allegedly supposed to be on desk duty until the Eppard case investigation was completed. According to Commonwealth Attorney Denise Lunsford, that was not completed until February 9, 2010, almost 2 weeks later.
Cash is Busted on a Tip.. March 19
Not long out of Nelson County jail for a non-violent offense, Jason Todd Cash is being held in Albemarle County jail since his arrest around 1am the morning of Friday March 19.
One has to wonder if the tip about where Jmoney was hanging out on Secretary Sand Rd from his kin in Amherst.
Clint Cash, a registered sex offender was arrested in December on a felony parole violation and is facing some heavy time . His wife Donna, had just pled guilty to a misdemeanor the day before the tip came in regarding JT Cash’s whereabouts and received a suspended sentence.
Jason Cash was apprehended with help from Bink, the new Albemarle County k9 when the house he was staying in on Secretary Sands was raided and he attempted to stay hidden inside.
What are Coincidences… What are clues?
The aforementioned volunteer for NGVFD lives in same stretch of Secretary Sands Rd.
Yet another relative of Jason Cash, a registered Sex Offender, shares an employer with the cousin of “volunteer”, and volunteer; specializing in outdoor landscape lighting.
Colby Eppard was stopped in the area of Green Creek Rd that is a large parcel of land owned by Cash family member.
As far as making allegations in this report, there are none. The investigation of the events contained herein are entirely based on public information and witness accounts.
I have come to the conclusion that while we cannot say specifically which one of the issues discussed directly relate to the murder of Morgan Harrington, a primary or secondary scene integral to the investigation of same, and the hunt for her killer(s), but I do believe the incidents need to explored fully in a public forum.

” Yes they made mistakes that night, however, before judging those mistakes ask yourself how many times this could have happened to you but did not. Maybe not the same scenario, but this has happened countless times to numerous people. My sympathy lies with the friends as they must go on the remainder of their lives saying what if. I do not envy their position.”
Well said, Kate. Young and foolish judgement? Yes. Life sentence? Yes. A very tough one.
Blink, do you believe that Morgan’s state of mind that evening is an important detail, possibly a detail that the friend’s have been reluctant to share? If so, do you believe LE has received a truthful account from the friends?
I think it is critical. Since I know you to be a shrewd sleuth I believe you asked me that question to see if I could share anything I have not already; I respect that.
How could we possibly attempt to piece together the events of that evening without it?
Wrt the friends, I do not believe them to be directly or indirectly complicit with what happened to Morgan.
I do not think they did not love their friend.
That said, I do believe every family member or direct witness I have interviewed or spoken to when they say that if Morgan’s actions that evening are to be taken at face value, that she acted very strangely for her normal behavior patterns. Why?

Of course it is legitimate – and appropriate – to discuss whether this video shows Morgan. If it is her, than it is the last known footage of her, which speaks for itself. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
You provided a very clear and factual analysis, without making any unfounded accusations. Blink posted it on another website, and you were acknowledged properly. I can’t see why all this should create such a stir.
Even though I didn’t really follow any of the other websites, I am under the impression that this was just a case of collateral damage – animosities that had built up over the past months, not necessarily about you, and this video was just a catalyst.
Anyway – the main question is: if it is her, what can we learn from the video? What does it potentially tell us about the timeline, the people who interacted with Morgan, her appearance, and the question whether she was impaired? And are there any medical professionals around who could comment on the way the person in the video acts? Does she seem intoxicated?
Is DC considered a “friend” of Ms Harrington?
Keeping in mind the length of time before his name was made public and the supposed legal representation he sought in the aftermath of this tragedy, it makes me wonder…
I have always believed that Ms Harringtons murderer came from the vicinity of JPJ arena.
Some here obviously have a conflict of interest and cannot be objective in their OBSERVations or are unwilling to explain their train of thought…
Hitch-hiking? Not a f***ing hope of it.
Liam, glad to see you’re back. Hope you’ve been digging behind the scenes, some more. Thanks to Georgie. Here till the end, to see Justice for Morgan. Thanks to Blink and all of you. Come on Rader!
Blink:
Sorry I have to leave the videos and friends, for now. No offense, but if they are involved, in any way and don’t think they are or else we have a group of sociopaths that party together.
I hope that LE is not waiting on us to figure this out by watching a video. I hope that all of our watching is to put Morgan in the arena having fun.
Or put her in the vincinty of someone that we could link to North Garden and that farm area.
So here it goes…
If we were to believe that someone picked Morgan up hitch hiking (don’t believe that, btw) but if we believe it, then where would the place be that he dropped her off?
Back at JPJA or somewhere else in Cville?
I ask because we are getting away from the location of North Garden and that seems kinda important. And, what about the location of the t-shirt, why there?
I’ve had a banging headache for a few days so forgive my disconnect posting and my writing this one, it is jumbled tonight. But I do thank you in advance, if you can redirect me to any of the above.
Fish is right as usual.
AF is tied to this perp. Perp is tied to North Garden somehow.

hey liam, I have OBSERVED that some posters are much more informed than others. You have plenty to contribute without taking shots at people.
What is the deal Liam?
I agree, what is it your alleging about Observers post?
NOBODY will be taking shots at any posters here.
B
Kidnappers of women have two general modes of operation. One group will take them to a secluded spot beat them into submission and perform repeated rapes and then within two to four hours kill them. The other group will have a plan to take them to a secure hidden place and keep them for days and days. Some have been lucky like my niece and gotten away after few days. Most have not.
Certainly I believe that Morgan was taken by force from the arena lot by someone who had a vehicle that could be used to conceal her and moved to another place.
I do not believe that she was killed the night of the concert. The fact that the shirt was found on the shrubs more than two weeks later and that we have no indication that there was blood on the shirt, indicates to me that she was kept prisoner for some time at a location around Charlettsburg.
Could a sigle person do this? Yes, of course. Remember the young graduate student that was kidnapped and killed in Rhode Island. Her kidnapper and killer kept her hidden in a house that he was remodeling and later disposed of her body in a nearby canyon.
Does the fact that the shirt was found in good condition on shrubs mean anything? Why the shrub location? This makes me believe the killer is playing games with law enforcememt. Is the killer one who is knowledgeable about landscaping and is giving them a clue?
Has the sighting by the lady with the paper route been thoroughly investigated? She mentioned the fact that the young woman appeared to be beaten and that she noticed two men standing to one side watching her.
Good GOD, why would someone especially a woman witness such a scene and not call the police immediately and set about finding everything she could about how these people arrived at that location. It is beyond me why people do not realize that each of us is our brothers keeper and we should act accordingly.
Liam…
You got a problem with Observer? How about you keep it above a second grade level, clean up your language, and ask her to clarify the specific statement or statements with which you disagree.

Texas Grandfather, I think maybe some previous posters got the paper lady’s sighting and a motel sighting somewhat melded. If I’m right, you’re repeating their mixed-up account.
Absolutely.

TO: Liam: As usual, I confess my confusion. It would be most helpful to me if you would please identify which of my (numerous) posts with which you take issue and I will be happy to enter into respectful discourse regarding same.
Please also share what specific “train of thought” I am alleged to be “unwilling to explain” and I will respond as thoughtfully as possible. The only caveat is one I offered very early on; that is, I will not disclose or share information that I believe may in any way, shape or form compromise the successful outcome of this investigation. On that point I am resolute, unyielding, uncompromising, and unapologetic.
FWIW:
* I stated very early on that my office is in close proximity to JPJ, and that I likewise work at UVA. I am assuming–perhaps erroneously–that neither of the above data points automatically correlates to a lack of objectivity.
* I possess no conscious or willful conflict of interest in this investigation, and believe that, were they at liberty to, B and Dr. H. would verify same as they are both aware of my identity. [To reiterate another point made very early on: I do not now nor have ever worked for UVAPD.]
* In my voluminous posts since Oct./Nov. I have attempted to remain objective. I readily acknowledge that, in certain instances, I have offered a perspective that was not popular or easily accepted. [Two examples that immediately come to mind are WRT: a) LE; and b) UVA.] I respect the ensuing challenges that have offered an opportunity for healthy, open debate.
* Working from the assumption that no one outside of B and Dr. H. are aware of my identity, it is difficult to understand how one might assert a lack of objectivity on my part. Perhaps it is assumed that, since I work at UVA, I am somehow unable to offer anything but a skewed perspective on this investigation.
* I respectfully challenge the above assumption.
Madam O
I appreciate your patience and generosity in attempting to understand the issue, because I for one, do not.
To underscore Observers post, while there are very many outstanding advocates, contributors, professionals and supporters of Morgan and the Harrington’s on here, I do not always have the privilege of knowing exactly who they are in their communities.
Observer, I have, and she is verified by me.
B
now i’m confused. sorry. Observer I don’t understand what Liam meant, but I remember he is the one that stirred WT up and brought him over here to talk and I think he brought pickles over too. Observer, you are very well respected here and your sincerity shines through everything you write. Thank you for all you have done and continue to do for Morgan and the Harringtons.
Thank you, B.
While my delivery may sometimes be lacking, my intent and heart for Dan, Gil, Alex, and most of all, Morgan, has remained unchanged since my first post on BOC.
I might only hope that my posts have consistently reflected that intent.
Mom 3.0 – thanks to you & Blink for your hard work on this case. Ignore any negative comments because it only distracts those of us trying to track down the monster who took Morgan’s life. No response necessary to those bozos!
Texas Grandfather – Paper Lady has been interviewed and I’m fairly sure she just saw a Morgan look alike walking away from a Pavillion on the Lawn. Paper Lady was at the Thurs night meeting at the Cavalier Inn when the Laura Recovery Center briefed us all on the upcoming search for Morgan and her statement was taken that night. Paper Lady felt like no one was taking her seriously but witnessing her that night I’m confident LE followed up. Go to readthehook.com and in one of the reports about this case they confirm that LE followed up on this.
Fish – You’re right on as usual but I am still appalled by the friends’ behavior following Morgan’s disappearance, especially the hitchhiking photo from the hdq of the search. Not just poor taste IMHO, some sort of sick act that appalls me. I was there that weekend and everyone was somber and hopeful that we could find Morgan.
Did LE ever follow up on the recently released Sex Offender who tried to join the search efforts that day? After he did the paperwork and it was give to the Police officer in charge I never heard anything else about him. The Laura Recovery Center staff said that often the perp will try to join the search for the victim.
Sorry if this is too vague – trying to keep it “postable.” I was casually looking at SE’s FB page, and happened to click on a guy with the following status update:
You showed up to concerts lookin like a fan, I pull up in car service lookin like the man.
The reference to a concert caught my eye. I googled it, it references a Wiz Khalifa song (I don’t really know who he is or really understand what the song means).
Anyway, I noted that he has SE listed as a sibling, which is interesting. He also has DE as a friend – but not as a sibling. I really don’t know if this is worthy of research, but I did quickly note that my “car service man” apparently attended Albemarle High, grad ’09, and has several friends who attended STAB, which I believe is extremely close to North Garden.
Oh, and there seem to be a number of Bennetts listed as friends of various member’s of DE’s family – you’ve probably noticed. I couldn’t connect him specifically, but as I recall the coach of the UVA basketball team is Tony Bennett. No idea if there’s an actual relationship. And I’m not implying that it’s of importance, it just jumped out at me.

Several things come to mind. Decomposition is accelerated due to presence of the normal bacteria found in moist creek beds. Someone with a possible landscaping/composting background might be skilled in this area. If it had a quite a bit of fresh water, ( I dont know if it was completely dry?) this too will be an accelerant, as more living creatures that feed & excrete. (sorry M).
I think it is critical. Since I know you to be a shrewd sleuth I believe you asked me that question to see if I could share anything I have not already; I respect that.

Wouldn’t be unheard of for the friends to have “dosed” her drink as a joke. As dumb as it sounds, I’ve known people who put liquid acid into their friends beer as a joke. They told them about it so the person was as braced as you could be but it’s still a really dumb idea. It’s been discussed that the group was possibly doing drugs. Ecstacy doesn’t make sense due to the type of music they were listening too. Plus it wouldn’t illicit the type of response that would cause her to be “erratic”, stumbling, dropping things etc.
Maybe they thought doing this would be funny? Or maybe this started the argument – they told her what they had done and she got upset. Perhaps she freaked out and that’s what caused the fall? Maybe that’s why she was crying, acting erratic, etc. This could explain why 2 of the 3 went after her. This is purely speculating but being drugged would explain the actions being outside of the norm for Morgan. And it would explain why the friends aren’t talking.
Whoops, sorry about the typos…had to let the dog inside & didn’t proof.
TJ- Actually, Albemarle HS is close to JPJ and STAB. North Garden is about a 10 minute drive (or longer) from all three. As for Coach Bennett, he just moved to Virginia (from Washington State) and has young children. Don’t think he moved any relatives with him. Great to question everything though and interesting about the song…

Hi TJ,
I have not seen this FB page but I do know that STAB is within a few blocks of JPJ arena…not in North Garden. STAB has both an Upper School and a Lower School, both of which are located on opposite sides of Ivy rd…well the the US is actually on Old Ivy rd but still, they are within walking distance to the arena!
An interesting find, but I also don’t know anything about the song or artist that was used in that quote on the friend/sibling FB page. So many people categorize their friends as siblings on FB, it makes it so much harder for us sleuthers to figure out who they are really related to…darn it…lol
Are we thinking she was left in the creek bed now, as opposed to left at the tree line and rolled or dragged down by the elements and animals?
Hokiehi…I think the friends could have drugged her drink for fun, too, now obviously wishing they hadn’t. In the video, as suz says, she’s acting fine, so maybe what the video can do is flush some truth out of the friends. I think your above post makes a lot of sense.
Blink, this is not a leading question because I just flat-out don’t know the answer. Why was the limo driver given a pass so quickly? Was it that he was former LE, or former security or something? He was one of the last to get a good look at Morgan. I don’t want to throw blame, I don’t even know his name…but he could just as easily have offered to take her somewhere, kill her and dump her at AF or put her in his trunk, all before having to be back by the end of the concert. I just don’t remember hearing why he was cleared.
He was interviewed several times.

B”
It is important because it would tell us whether Morgan was acting rationally that evening, i.e. did she have a plan, did she meet up with someone she knew, or was she outside in a disoriented state, and could have gotten into a stranger’s car. If she was abducted, could she have put up any resistance?
I didn’t know Morgan, but from what I read it is quite obvious that she was not acting rationally, and this doesn’t look like alcohol to me. There are people at concerts who believe it is funny to put mind altering drugs into somebody’s drink. This does actually happen more often than one might assume. Morgan was wearing expensive jewelery, and she looked classy, which made her a target for thieves, and jealousy.
I never took drugs, and I never got violently drunk, but when I was 20 I was less rational than I am today. We would do silly things, always try to sort it out ourselves (I distinctly remember being stuck at a town nearby with some friends, all train lines being shut down because of a thunderstorm, and staying overnight at a train station rather than calling our parents to pick us up, which was stupid) but *never ever* would I or any of my friends have acted like Morgan that night. From all we have heard she was organized and reliable, she even took a textbook with her to revise on the journey to JPJ. What we hear about her actions outside the arena just doesn’t sound normal. Something must have happened to her, she either had a head trauma, a sudden onset physical disease, or she was drugged. The latter seems most likely. Of course, she could have taken drugs voluntarily. However, I do not believe this was the reason, or only reason for her behaviour that night. The effects just sound like a gross overdose, something going seriously wrong. If the drugs were contaminated or contained a different dosage than usual, she would not have been the only victim.

(sorry M).”
Moreover, water can wash away DNA evidence. This is why rivers and creeks are often the location of choice to dump bodies. If this was indeed the motive, the perpetrator may have believed his arrest could be imminent, that there is evidence linking him to the crime. My question is: why in *this* creek bed? Why not in the Hardware River?
Observer, my apologies for that last idiotic post of mine.
Frustration on my part at the slow movement that`s all.
Everybody here knows you are the bees knees and do all you can to help. Maybe we expect too much, in the beginning your posts were compulsive reading. I understand there is only so much you can say at this point.
I can only imagine how frustrated the Harringtons must feel, God bless them.

14th street….wasn’t that close to where Morgan’s shirt was found?
Also, why would the police be investigating as a homicide?
Oh Good Lord, what is going on? Female UVa student found dead in apt off 14th St. Sounds like the 911 call said alcohol od, but LE sees reason to consider homicide:
http://www2.dailyprogress.com/cdp/news/local/crime/article/police_investigating_uva_student_death_as_a_possible_homicide/55709/
Blink editors Elizabeth Morton and Jason Mateos have given me a tentative ID on this woman.
If we are correct, she is a senior, so it is not a hazing issue.
Obviously I am not going to mention her name until it is verified.

“In 700 acres, why in the creekbed?”
Close to a deer stand used in the recent past by the criminal? Deer like the lines where fields and forests meet and this area also has abundant water. I would not be surprised to find evidence of a day camp in the edge of the woods just the other side (southwest) of the stream from where Morgan was found.

Charlottesville Police are investigating the death of a University of Virginia female student Monday morning.
Police were called to 222 14th Street N.W., Apartment #9 for a possible alcohol overdose around 2:15am Monday morning. Officers arrived and found a female UVa. student unresponsive in the apartment. Police Officers and Rescue personnel who were called to the scene attempted to revive the victim but were unsuccessful.
Police say they are treating the case as a homicide investigation at this time. CBS19′s Liz Palka reports a forensics team is inside the apartment, and within the past hour, crews have taken a stretcher into the building.
Students told CBS19 that they heard sirens and people crying early Monday morning, but they did not notice anything else.
Officials say victim identification is being withheld at this time pending notification of next of kin. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call Charlottesville Police Sergeant Mark Brake at 434-970-3970 or Crime Stoppers at 434-977-4000.
The following message to the University of Virginia community:
To the University community:
We have learned this morning about the death of a University student, apparently late Sunday night or early this morning, in an apartment on 14th Street. Although we know no details of the police investigation of this death, we note with concern that the Charlottesville Police Department is treating the case as a homicide investigation. In Chief Gibson’s statement, you will find general advice on personal safety and specific instructions on how to reach the police quickly if you find yourself in danger and if you believe that someone else may be in danger.
Obviously, we take the death of any student very seriously, and we support the police investigation into the causes of this death. Please read Chief Gibson’s and the Charlottesville Police Department’s statements carefully and completely, and cooperate fully with the ongoing investigation. If you have information that may be relevant to the investigation, follow the Charlottesville Police Department’s advice: call Charlottesville Police Sergeant Mark Brake at 970-3970 or Crime Stoppers at 977-4000.

Here is Chief Gibson’s statement to the university community:
Monday, May 3, 2010
This email is to alert the community that the Charlottesville Police Department is conducting an investigation on the suspicious death of one of our students in a private residence in the 14th Street area.
While Charlottesville remains a relatively safe environment, crimes do occur in our community. The best defense is to be prepared and to take responsibility for your own safety and for that of your friends and fellow students. A few key reminders:
· Trust your instincts about a person or situation. If you feel uncomfortable, immediately report your concerns to police by calling 911.
· If you are on the Grounds and need help, pick up one of the blue-light telephones. You will be immediately connected to University Police. Be aware of your surroundings. Do not let a cell phone conversation or listening to music distract you when crossing the street or in any type of situation that calls for your full attention.
· Avoid isolated areas and walking alone at night. Use SafeRide (434-242-1122), walk with friends, or take a late-night weekend bus.
· Keep your doors and windows locked.
· Never allow strangers to follow you into a locked building and gain entry by “tailgating” you once you swipe the card reader in a residence hall. Also, never prop open card-reader doors.
· If you see any of the following, immediately call the police at 911: a prowler, someone peeping into a residence, an individual watching, photographing or filming an area, or any other suspicious behavior.
· Work with your neighbors and fellow community members to ensure a safe environment.
I will preface what I am about to say and link to by telling you all that I spent a good part of my college years drunk and acting like a fool, and I SINCERELY have no right to judge people. On the other hand, I feel like I am about to pop when I look at some of Morgan’s friends’ behaviors during and following Morgan’s disappearance. I see a difference between careless drunkenness, negligence and malice, and I just don’t know if any of those lines have been crossed. I haven’t been 20 in a while, so somebody answer a few questions for me about young adults today.
Do you just assume, since everyone has a cell phone nowadays, that you’re all OK all the time, because you can always just call or text each other, and that’s the extent of your plans for the night, even as regards to your safety?
Do you leave a girlfriend in a cold drizzly parking lot at night, outside the testosterone-laden metal concert her dad bought tickets to see, an hour from home, and with no access to her own car?
Even if your girlfriend was a party animal, and maybe she was and maybe she wasn’t, do YOU party like an animal 2 weeks after your friend disappears on your watch, and post photographs of the party?
Is it normal to be a bitchy mean girl when your friend is “just” missing, but fall apart when her animal-bitten remains are discovered on the perimeter of a farm in the middle of nowhere?
BUT … BEFORE you answer me, here’s a link to a photo montage of 1) Morgan sometime in the past couple of years and 2) one of The Nine, who attended the concert with Morgan, taken on Halloween ’09. It’s in the free version of photobucket, so you will have to scroll down below the banner ad to see the photo, and click on the photo to see the description. I am curious to know if the so-called costume is intentional in its approximation of Morgan, or if the similarity is just a coincidence:
http://s1030.photobucket.com/albums/y361/juliemooly_2010_2/Friends/
Now tell me… Ignorant? Mean girl? Complicit? If the answer is ‘None of the Above’, then what? What???
I realize my anger won’t bring Morgan back, or even lead to an explanation of what happened to her. But, if what Blink says is true, and on the night of October 17, 2009, Morgan “…acted very strangely for her normal behavior patterns,” then WTH happened that night?
There was just breaking news on tv in Richmond regarding the UVA student killed last night. Apparently they have arrested her ex-boyfriend. No more details now, but at least we have the solution on this one.
I should clarify my last comment above. He was arrested for her murder.
it’s out.

Blink, someone asked you if Morgan was taking perscriptions that night. You stated no. Is it safe to assume that toxicology reports are back then?
That info is not being shared with anyone, is my understanding.

In 700 acres, why in the creekbed?
B
Blink, do you mind if I ask you why not? I guess I would have to know how her body was actually placed in the creekbed.
Sheesh. What bad karma–or more accurately, people–there must be in the C’ville area these days. So tragic.
Police must have a pretty strong case to already be charging with first degree murder.
I just heard that a suspect has been arrested regarding the homicide at UVA today, but that is all that has been released. It was WRIC channel 8 in Richmond, VA
OK – Observer … Now that we know some of your back-ground, (and you don’t seem inclined to enroll in Law School) … How about YOU on the Board of Visitors? I know this to be an inherent political position ( political money . BIG TIME): You could be in the position to influence UVA policy ‘on the ground’ in Cville! Dr. Harrington surely could see the need an way to ‘get this done’! If any community needed this, your beloved UVA does.
