Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: Judge Strickland Steps Down

Orlando, FL–  The Honorable Stan Strickland has recused himself at the request of the defense team, anchored by THE BAEZ LAW FIRM and recent roster addition, J Cheney Mason.

RumpleBaezCasey

The original request contained a notarization by Mr. Mason which was found to be expired and a corrected motion with a current seal was subsequently submitted. (insert Pavlov giggle)

In a motion filed  last Friday at the usual witching hour the defense seems to prefer; Strickland was asked to disqualify himself due to his well wishes for a recently hospitalized blogger covering the Casey Anthony case.

Marinade ala Kronk*Du*Jour

MarinadeDave2006-1

Marinade Dave agreed to meet with the defense Private Investigator, Jeremiah Lyon, voluntarily on Sunday April 11, 2010.

During Mr. Marinade’s interview, he revealed that Judge Strickland called him following a recent health issue to check on his well being.

His reply of “ Well if I were any better I would be cruising down the Hudson with a shirtless Geraldo..” raised a flag apparently.

(editors note: That is what we call a dramatic license/ensuing mini-vomit combo. Sorry. Shirtless Geraldo deserves that. Dave said no such thing)

The Floridian Rumplestiltskin

RumpleBaezCaseyMr. Baez can pass verbal/handwritten shanks back and forth for Casey Anthony and her family and think he can operate outside of the regulations of the Florida Bar; that’s fine.

In defense of the FBA, they tried to wash their hands of him in the eight years preceding his admission.

Mr. Baez can task his client, Casey Anthony, with attempting to spin her duct tape into gold for endless days and nights until he runs out of Vitalis.

It will change nothing.

What he has never understood from the beginning of this case is that everyone already knows his name starts with Rump.

Personally, I would like a poll from the ENTIRE defense team, as to who thinks a *do-over* is a good idea in this case.

If ever there were a be-careful-what-you-wish-for scenario, this is it.

Let’s start with Ms. Lyon, who is curiously absent from the motion.

Never mind.

In recalling her comments to the lunch crowd at the seedy soiree she refers to all judges as “ugly in the room, “ I think that her exclusion was tactical.

That sentiment might be particularly offensive to Belvin Perry, Sr.

Mr. Perry is the high-school educated Father of the recently appointed judge to replace Strickland, The Honorable Belvin Perry, Jr.

Mr. Perry, Sr, retired from the Orlando Police Department after 25 years of decorated service.

Mr and  Mrs. Belvin raised 4 children who grew up to be a school principal, business owner, surgeon, and now, a judge that will preside over one of the most famous murder cases in recent history.

Perry-Belvin-circuit_small

The Honorable Belvin Perry, Jr will preside over this case to it’s conclusion.

I am feeling comfortable it is unlikely His Honor will be open to any attempts at police pulverizations that are undoubtedly part of the defense strategy; should this case every actually be scheduled for trial.

I am feeling if Judge Strickland wants to try his hand in the blogesphere, I am in full support.

His response motion was snarktastic.

He is a class act and friend of blinkoncrime.com.

    Gosh, blink…..
I am here every day because you don’t usually intercept the conversation except to discipline foul-mouth behavior. Last weekend’s shenanigans had me hopping all over the web from blog to blog, where I encountered massive rage between and betwixt bloggers and bloggees, etc…. and so I happily returned home to blinkville. Multiple theories keep our brain cells functioning. Why can’t we hear AJ’s theory and discuss it and THEN dismiss it? (lol)

Lol, google Fugue. Rinse. Apply Sparingly.

I’m so sorry B and everyone for speaking of the (4) new Motions and failing to include the link to CF 15.

All of the motions read with April……….., 2010 date lines………

And all of the motions include the newest attorney, Mason, thus my believing they were/are intended to eventually be filed with the court BUT some how got mailed/faxed to the News Channel 15 first. Probably just a student’s clerical error……snark!

My thoughts regarding the cameras off in courtroom are only to see this case go forth. Cameras seem to increase the “dramatics” and “posturing” by some individuals with limited self-control. Some cases by both sides, in this case, ONLY the defense has been guilty of this breach. All just MHO.

  3. NGBoston says:

#48—BLINK—Great post in your response to Action Jackson.

Especially concur with—- The “no fascination” and not wanting to know what makes Casey Anthony tick. You are so right—this isn’t an evil wish—the majority of us following the case and anybody who understands true justice just want the same thing….. Stop the ticking!

  4. Granmomma says:

Action Jackson…..I do not post much on any forum but I do read most of them. Blink does not allow name calling in here. I know….I prefer to call Cindy = Spindy and Casey = Crazy, the names are more fitting to me.

Nothing much to add…….I think this whole fiasco speaks for itself. BTW….were all these letters written to the other inmates written before or after the baby’s remains were found? Or, were some written before and some written after? Just curious if the one about getting to be with her precious Cays again one day was before or after the remains were found?

I try to keep the names out of my posts….because most of those are really really bad. Spindy and Crazy are mild compared to what I like to refer to Baez and Mason as……….lol

  5. smyers says:

The longer this drags on the more bull crap people come up with. It is becoming ridiculous. I really do hope this judge gets this trial up and running. Caylee needs her rest and peace.

  6. westsidehudson says:

Where are the visit logs to Casey’s cell from the psych Doctor who is helping her through all of this? Clearly, if she were suffering from such a state, wouldn’t the defense want her in treatment? Or at least analyzed by a professional?

Casey has been lying since, at least High school. What happened then? She is consistent with lies that have a particular benefit such as: “I work at Universal”.

If you recall Blink, I looked at this A LONG time ago, and then more recently posted the differences of the lying categories at Hinky Meter.
    I forget which thread.

If this is the route the defense is going, they are going to make Suburban Drive a horror house of MASSIVE proportions. Cindy and George will not know what hit them.

Yes WSH, I completely agree. Maybe that was some sort of “mock jury” test response.

    Failed.

There’s another syndrome Mr. AJ (aka Ass Jockey) didn’t introduce to you. It’s called IDD, Intention Deficit Disorder, known in the non-professional world as the “I didn’t do it” syndrome. It’s pretty common nowadays. We even have a man here in Orlando who’s taken it to a new level. Not only is he saying “he didn’t do it” he’s trying to convince people his wife shot herself while holding a gun 12 inches from her own face. This is another man who needs to exit earth NOW. Suicide is terribly destructive for a family, saying the woman you killed committed suicide is beyond belief. His daughters supposedly believe him. WTF?

PS Blink: I’ve really limited my comments here because I stay in moderation for so long. Love ya though.

Lol, 3 minutes is too long for you?
Your one snarky dude… IDD…. I love it.

  9. Boz says:

IDD is my own creation. Glad you like it. You can use it anytime. Thanks

  10. semo68 says:

AJ sounds an awful lot like Joe Schmoe who was trying to sell the same DID theory on the Orlando Topix threads awhile back. Didn’t buy it then, and ain’t buying it now!

Casey is not mentally ill in the sense she did not know right from wrong. No one made her commit this atrocious act. Not her parents. Not her brother. Not her upbringing. Not society.

At the end of the day, it all boils down to the same thing. Casey is a self-centered, heartless b**** who willfully and maliciously murdered her own helpless, innocent child with no more feeling than most of us have when swatting a fly. And treated her body like a used kleenex, crumpled up in garbage bags and tossed out like trash.

She needs to pay. And pay dearly.

    Caylee deserves justice.

  11. Heidi says:

Hey!, hey, hey… Since reviewing the latest court hearing for the 50th time…(not 50, but you get my pointe). Casey appears to be afraid to do anything wrong (smile, take notes…) while sitting between CM & JB. Without AL or LB she is lost, and to me shows fear having no one to stroke her ego and tell her what a good girl she is by saying “aren’t you proud of yourself for not reacting to the truth?” Blink… is touching allowed in the courtroom? I say not. Help!

  12. Ragdoll says:

I ROARED when I read this. Here’s how no non sense Judge Perry is (quoted from Bill Shaeffer):

‘Sheaffer expects Judge Perry to tighten up the proceedings. He remembers Perry once cutting off a wordy lawyer in court by saying, ‘Don’t give me the whole bushel of oysters, just give me the pearls.”’

Baez desperately needs to hone his oyster shucking skills.

  13. Ragdoll says:

Kleat, I checked out that link. Low and behold….not one word about Judge Strickland’s decision to step down.

Could that be considered as the defense’s admission to ….oh…..I don’t know…..WTF WERE WE THINKING???????

  14. joan (pgh) says:

    Hi, Blink

With the new Judge coming on board, is there any thought that he will make the Defense start defending Casey based on her sworn statement to OCSO?? The Defense contention that they need to know the Prosecution’s theory in order to defend Casey seems to me to be a flawed concept. In taking this approach …isn’t Defense really admitting that the sworn statement is a total lie? Can the Judge require the Defense to at least start with the Zanny the Nanny and try to “explain” what happened based on that kidnapping event? It’s like Zanny is no even on their radar screen …whereas the 4000 TES volunteers are all likely suspects?? Can Judge Perry “stop the insanity”??

Thanks – and again kudos on your great work!!

I think in the end that it will be a good thing that we have Judge Perry in charge. He is from Texas I hear and we dont like disrespect of the judge and all that BS that has been going on. I think that asking for a new judge was one of the BIG mistakes the dream team has made.

Took a gander at thehinkymeter.com. A link provides info of the upcoming civil suit against Cindy Anthony re: foreclosure

Seems Cindy has a history of non compliance of her own. She was evicted from an apartment back in 2002. She was also involved in another civil case which simply says ‘closed’. Cindy has refined her craft of abuse on authority and the law.

Will someone PLEASE bang the gong already.

Plunked in ZG’s name. Could all these infractions be the same person aka Casey? I know Blink covered this area but these go back to 2002. Is it possible Casey had fake ID going back this far….and under the non existent nanny name to boot?

  23. Kleat says:

Ragdoll, there’s another ‘Cindy Anthony’ in that database, IIRC. Probably that points to the explanation– dont’ think Cindy Anthony in this case, was ever living in an apartment in 2002.

Good Morning everyone! That chewing gum clip has me down right giddy. For a second there, I thought he was gonna pull the gum out out of the mans mouth and eat it himself. No!. Then shot him dead. What? Gotta start watching more slaps-stick movies. hahahahahah.

  27. Bees Knees says:

Hi Vern & Ragdoll. Me too!

Hi Blink. Succinct. And from all.

  28. NoseyRosey says:

Blink- I am wondering why the defense moved so quickly on this motion to have Judge Strickland recuse himself. Wouldn’t it be a better strategy to move along with everything and then pull that card after a conviction- maybe get a mistrial? Is there a law protecting or forcing the attorney’s to react in a certain time frame? It seems as though Casey’s team has been trying to get Strickland in a tight spot since the beginning. I know Mason asked the Judge if he “trusted” him during his first court appearance and Silverspooner says (on the hinky meter) this is a big no-no- were they trying to get him to make a mistake on that day?

  29. Bees Knees says:

Oh my!! I was actually responding to comments on the LAST page not THIS one, so it sounds like I’m dazed. Go ahead and delete if it’s confusing, Blink. Thanks. It was in reference to your “stop ticking” comment and to Vern & Ragdoll being Canadian.

  30. Word Girl says:

Hilarious clip, Kleat! Did you see that Harvey Korman’s character (“What have you got in your mouth?”) was named Hedley Lamarr? Too much irony here!

Also, the Henchman’s response to “Qualifications?”
    “Oh, arson, armed robbery, mayhem.”

And when we add murder to that list, it snaps me right back to attention. Go, Lady Justice, go.

  32. Kleat says:

Yeah, ‘It’s HEDLEY not Heddy!” And it’s Lamarr not Lamar!! ;)

Trust Word Girl to catch the additional irony. I think the Bat-A-Ball toys will be out of the courtroom now.

Will the first words spoken by our good Judge Belvin Perry in the upcoming hearing be the famous phrase

“What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports is a-goin’ on here???’

  33. Kleat says:

    Bailff:

“All Rise!! Court is now in session.
“The Honorable Judge Belvin Perry presiding.”

Judge Perry waits as hush falls over his courtroom and is interrupted by Baez waving from the defense table and pointing to the microphone set on his table with one hand and arm, and with the other, he’s wild sidewise full-arm gestures in cutting motions from side to side (he’s been watching too much football). With a nod from the judge, the bailiff grabs the scruff of his neck and seats him back in his seat.

Judge Perry glances over the quiet gallery then ‘POP!!!’, Holly Bristow lets a big bubble go, she’s been watching the bubble grow slowly for the last minutes and didn’t notice the judge enter the room. The bailiff, again without word only nod from the judge, passes around the collection bucket for gum deposits, including but not limited to chewing materials, but to gather any form of candy, gum drops, suckers or Tic Tacs already in use.

Judge Perry again awaits for the pause of silence as the Bailiff completes his duties and as Ms. Lyon passes a folded hankie to her client’s lap. Baez’s reddened face returns to normal flesh tone and he unfreezes enough to pass a pen to his client and slaps it down on her yellow legal pad. Casey picks up the pen, handles it like a baton back and forth for a second then positions it on the pad, primps her hair momentarily then looks into the camera directly to flash a sparkly wide wide smile, looks away and tucks her shirt down, adjusts her sleeves. All set. The gallery is packed, Joy Wray is nowhere to be seen and Marinade Dave is noticeably absent. George and Cindy sit not directly behind their daughter, again taking a side seat so that George can practice not making faces that might be caught by the judge. Brad Conway is in attendance, taking a seat directly behind the defense table.

The Judge, with 1400 plus pages of documents piled precariously at each side of the bench, along with sets of motions and re-motions and motions upon motions, looks at the prosecution table then slowly and pensively moves towards the defense table, now settled and focussed and all dressed in matching sea-foam green attire.

Judge Perry speaks in his best Slim Picken’s rendition:

“What in the Wide, Wide World of Sports has been a-goin’ on here??!”

The Judge continues, no one has taken the bait of the rhetorial question to speak out. Casey leans to her counsel and covers her mouth and says ‘Make him STOP!”

    The new day begins.

  34. jeannen says:

Not to tweak anyone’s temper, but I can’t imagine why anyone would entertain the whole fugue idea for longer than a few seconds. She clearly knew who she was all that time she was “missing” and she went home repeatedly. All of that immediately discounts the fugue state situation.

When I first read that sweet child was missing, I knew her mother had killed her. Just like I knew Susan Smith had done something to her children. Just like I knew Haleigh would not be found alive. Sometimes we just know evil when we see it and twisting ourselves into pretzels trying to “explain” it somehow is usually a waste of time except perhaps to learn something from it. At the end of the day, the victim is still dead and evil is still evil. JMHO.

I almost never post, but love to read here. Thanks tremendously for all the info, Blink!

  35. Mariann says:

OMG Kleat. You have me in stitches here. That was hysterical to say the least!

  40. Boz says:

How about a Dominic Casey hair? It sure would fit into my theory he uncovered the remains so Kronk (or anyone else) could find them.

  41. Kleat says:

Susan2, could be one of Casey’s friends, maybe an ‘ex-friend’– remember Casey’s strange visit to Jesse’s apartment and bathroom? Could she have gathered something from his brush?

  42. Ragdoll says:

Kleat, you just wrote a screen play! I think the guy that played Dan Connor on Roseanne could play Lyon :D

  43. Peggy says:

They finally turned this information over to the defense after 16 months? What took so long? How many motions to compel has the defense filed? People complain about the defense delaying the trial but nary a mention of the state taking 16 months to release this stuff to the defense.

Perhaps Judge Perry will keep the state on task, too.

    JMHO
    Peggy

  44. Word Girl says:

True, Peggy. There are always tactical delays on both sides. I don’t think it progresses justice any, but seems to be a chess-like strategy to divert from the final siege.

You mean the source of income for the defense?

No, sorry, the fact that she was giving money to George, allegedly her tax return, etc.. I do not believe that for a second. This is going to come back to their “charity”. Why would George need to open an account in his Mom’s name to accept cash? No way.

  50. westsidehudson says:

I’m waiting for the “other women” who gave money. I’m not sure if that was the truth, I think it came from Skye, and apparently she embellished the “affair” with George and her sister. Someone pointed out yesterday that River did not say it was a sexual relationship at all.

But, yes, it will be interesting to see where the money went, if it can be proven that it was given. If nothing else, the IRS will want taxes on a gift given to an individual vs. given to a nonprofit, where a tax deduction is given to the donor.
