VAN DER SLOOT CHARGED IN HOLLOWAY CASE, MURDER IN CHILE

BREAKING NEWS

Birmingham, AL– Joran Van Der Sloot, suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, and now the murder of Peruvian woman Stephany Flores Ramirez, is facing Federal extortion charges in Alabama.

On or about May 10, 2010, A person known to Mr. Van Der Sloot wire transferred $15,000 from an Alabama bank to a financial institution in the Netherlands.

The complaint, who does not name the party who dealt with Van Der Sloot directly, goes on to say that the funds were a deposit to secure the location of Natalee Holloway’s remains and the circumstances in which she died.

Extortion

It would appear, given the date of the filing today, that Joran Van Der Sloot was the focus of a Federal sting.

Who was he attempting to extort?

Sources, willing to speak to blinkoncrime.com only on the condition of anonymity, suggest the victim of Van Der Sloot’s extortion plot was none other than Natalee’s mother, Beth Holloway.

Ms. Holloway has been unavailable for comment since the news of Joran’s involvement with the Peruvian murder broke, and has not answered requests for interviews.

Stephany Flores Ramirez was murdered in her hotel room on the 5th anniversary of the disappearance of Natlee Holloway.

Is it possible he found out about the sting, and snapped to get back at the mother of the very girl who many believe also met her end in his hands?

The inconceivable in this case is becoming more conceivable by the moment.

I love it !! Sting the con artist and get him arrested in the process. I would bet the money came from either the Holloways or someone they knew.

I have always wondered though if Natalie was not the first girl and how many others went missing which we never heard about. He was just too nonchalant about the whole thing. I also wondered if his father was involved with the human trafficking out of Aruba. I think there is much more to this than we have a clue about right now. His father’s trips to Thailand, and other countries made me VERY suspicious of him from the beginning. I also think his father helped him in Nathalie’s case. JMO

Hooray! Beth Holloway is a pistol. I hope she cuts herself a break and doesn’t blame herself for this poor girl. Why is it time and again the family has to go to such lengths for justice, just doesn’t seem fair. Anything ever come of the ? bones the vacationer had on his camera?

Unbelievable….This guy is an absolute piece of sh*t. After all we know that he has done, all that we don’t know that he has done (which I am sure is a mind boggling amount of things)and now trying to extort money presumably from a hurting, suffering, still grieving mother via the promise of information regarding their missing daughter. Geez. Well, at least they caught his a**. Maybe, just maybe, there will bring some closure to people who so desperatetly need it. At the very least, he has been removed from society for what I’m sure will be the rest of his life and women literally world wide will be safer because of it.

  6. Ragdoll says:

Eloise, I believe the search for Nathalie’s remains (re: pic) was called off.. IIRC, it was ‘determined’ that the pic was probably just coral. INFURIATING!!!!! Certainly a pattern of defiance and a lack of cooperation in Aruba’s part. What’s to hide????????

My gosh Blink, if true, Mrs. Holloway probably feels terrible ….even though it’s not her fault that that waste of human flesh deprived another young lady of her life. Basically, in addition to the new victims, “it” has victimized Mrs. Holloway all over again. May “it” fall “accidentally” down the stairs several times while awaiting his conviction.

Thus far I’ve only been privy to the sorrowful, compassionate and righteous tones of the bad, bold justice-seekers posting on BOC (via my limited thread participation – ah, but if I only had more time in the day!). I see that cuffing the *obvious* perp who got away with a horrific crime by sheer happenstance and sh*t luck – only to crush another young woman’s life, another family, and another community once the storm passed -draws out the sword-totin’ sailors amongst my grrrrrls!
    I like it.

Whew! I am still absorbing what you put down, B… Talk about H-U-B-R-I-S! This punk’s moral bankruptcy has hit the Wall-Street-Crash level.

Um. That said – how the hell does a high-profile criminal indictment of international interest, such as this, not get a once-over edit before being filed/released to the public? Did they seriously spell van der Sloot’s name wrong under “Count Two”…?
Yes. Yes they did.(Way to bring down the bell curve, Alabama…)

This guy has absolutely no scruples.

It is a shame that the sting didn’t catch him before he met up with Stephy.

Again, my thoughts and prayers to The Hollaways and to Stephy’s family as well.

Gambling and playing poker requires money. It looks like this guy has discovered a way to fund his hobby.

I think it’s significant that the Peruvian victim was not sexually assaulted. Could the motive have been money through human trafficking?

  14. Kleat says:

Tim Miller said on JVM today, that the Aruba investigation wasn’t incomplete, doesn’t need to be ‘re-opened’ because it was NEVER investigated in the first place! He has documents that show witness statements were never investigated from the beginning, just a big cover up. The officials were friends and god parent to Joran and his family, then a change of police chief and nothing done.

Aruba would not be a safe place to visit if you have a problem with the law and involved, is some Aruban resident. Seems they have free reign to do what they please and tourists are an excellent target.

  15. Kleat says:

Tim Miller and his dive crew apparently found a crab trap with remains, once the Aruba officials became aware, Miller was taken from the boat. No word on that find since.

A crab trap had been missing from the resort or docks at the resort. And of course, a fishing knife had been stolen from a fisherman. We know now that Joran can use a knife.

  16. katie says:

Looks like the above case was FILED 6/3/2010…so it would seem unlikely that he saw this indictment or trap coming. I have to wonder if he knew he was ready to go “on the hunt” and would need money to get away if he had to.

Respectfully, I disagree. John Q Kelly has been in Aruba on at least 2 occasions since may 10th.

    Hi There,
Please fill me in regarding Joran’s father and the human trafficking. I remember the sting carried out in Asia [possibly Thailand] when Joran was visiting there and his supposed reasons he was there for. But I wasn’t aware of Joran’s father and trafficking. Joran thought that he was bullet proof because his father was a Judge and he has got away with it for 5 years now. From here on, I don’t believe that he will be seeing the light of day except from a prison enclosure. It is incredibly sad that another young girl had to die at his hands but, I am just relieved that he is now locked up where he belongs. I remember hearing about a bloke [I think that he could have been a serviceman] visiting a country in South America who visited a brothel in a seedy side street and a young American girl begged him to help her. It was said at the time that the girl could have been Natalie Holloway and they appealed for him to come forward again with more information. Can anyone shed more information on this. I certainly believe that Natalie was sold into human trafficking as they were wanting pretty young blond girls.

  18. Justice says:

Now, I wonder if Aruba will finally step up to the plate, and bring some real investigators in to investigate Natalee’s case, from the very beginning. It was obvious from almost day one Joran had something to do with Natalee’s disappearance, but the cover up began immediately, starting with his now deceased daddy. They can’t possibly re-investigate Natalee’s disappearance, because it was never properly investigated in the first place. The FBI need to be brought in, and they should start from the very beginning. Or, will Aruba do as they have in the past and smirk at the American’s once again, and let their little judges monster child remain free for his past crimes there.

I wonder how the people of Aruba feel now? Imo, it is even more important to boycott them now. Had Natalee’s case been investigated properly, and Joran made to pay for his crimes, especially after so many confessions, we wouldn’t have another dead young lady. Something tells me that if they go back & follow Joran’s steps from country to country from way back, there will be plenty more victims. Shame on Aruba, and shame on their whole justice system there. This was so avoidable!

It was on the news over & over tonight that this young lady was in fact outwardly gay. Maybe she told him this, which caused him to murder her so savagely. It would seem his usual M.O. is drug them, then rape & murder. Maybe when he found out she preferred women to men, his poor little ego couldn’t stand it since he’s always bragged about what a stud he was. How dare she prefer a woman to him!

Leave it to you and your ace team to connect the dots, Blink. I was disturbed by the anniversary date when this crime took place. I just couldn’t see it as an act out of consciousness of guilt, commemoration, or other psychological motives at any subconscious level. The timing related to the sting, and I do believe it was a sting, is uncanny. The idea that Beth Holloway was the victim and discovery of the sting very might have pushed the buttons is, as you say, very conceivable and makes sense.

I hope Peru keeps him planted in Peru and there is no consideration of extraditing him to Aruba or the Netherlands. As has already been expressed, I am fearful there are more victims at the hands of this beast.

  24. JR says:

Man, where do I even start with this one….

His parents and Aruban authorities protected his little toxic sociopath ass and it cost another family another young girl and all the beauty remaining in her entire life. But, while they may have succeeded in sparing “Urine” the time he would of served in his cushy Aruban jail, I love seeing how karma can run like clockwork and this time URINE…its gonna be a bitch. The country is not his own, but PERU…the laws don’t differentiate in his favor, but AGAINST THE ACCUSED and the only big powerful daddy around now is not his, BUT THE VICTIM’S FATHER – HIMSELF. HA!

the whole cover-up from 5 years ago really back-fired on everyone involved. For “Urine” it cost him at least a lifetime of hell imprisoned in Peru – if not death itself, for Paulas his father it was likely the stress to literally knock him dead and for the entire island of Aruba a permanent stain and dark image of Natalee’s unresolved disappearance and death.

this poor girl has so many similarities to Natalee’s meeting with Joran five years ago. the casino, the separation of friends, the possible date rape drug…two nearly exact circumstances leading to their deaths…yet two plausible murders seeming very inconvenient to the culprit and very unplanned. natalee’s case being more clear about the scenario linking her and “urine” in the beginning but evolving to a mysterious end and now stephanie’s case starting out with the evidence to determine her brutal end but uncertainty in what lead her there from the start….her friend says its very unlike her to just go off with a strange guy at all and maybe i’m giving “urine” too much credit, but i see him more cunning than “crazy” enough to just slaughter a woman simply finding out she wasn’t going to give it up for him and/or finding out she is gay. he’s likely spent enough time in amsterdam, bangkok and travelled the world to have already come across all types a number of times.

could he have made the same ‘mistake’ he potentially made with Natalee, giving her a drug causing her to OD and this time without the help of any ‘friend’ or ‘the sea’ to avoid any hassles, he felt he had no choice but to stage a savage murder to cover up his tell tale sign and true nature of his now signature crime ? if this took place in his room and his room was in a $40/night hostel, one would think this quality of accommodations is likely to carry sound. at 5am-9pm, everything else would likely be pretty much silent with people either sleeping or quietly rising to start the day. not much to really drown out the kind of struggle going down in a room where a girl ends up beaten black and blue, her neck broken and severely stabbed til she’s dead. not one bang, crash or thud from any struggle was heard? not one cry, yell or scream from a tortured girl desperate for her life??? perhaps not all the pertinent evidence has been released, but he could very well of did all these dispicible acts ‘after the fact’, when she was already unconscious or possibly dead and spent his long cab ride working out the details of his next big ‘she was fine when i left her’ lie….not that it makes a difference in punishing the crime. just putting this scenario to thought….hopefully this time the family gets closure with facts.

first of all thank God that they caught that DUTCH (SOB) guy he is from holland not Aruba for starters. so lay off our backs. Second we didnt cover nothing up, the cover up came from the 2 big nations that where working on the case! and for the coral part it was called of by the USA!

i feel very sorry to what happened to those girl, it makes me angry….sad…

but what most of you dont know i dont feel it for Beth! come on she should have won the oscars! in the US crying and making money out of it , even when she was in Aruba she herself was laughing drinking and gambling so COME ON!

in Any case i hope they do find Natalee and that they fry that SOB Joran.

She is the Mother of a murdered girl your country did nothing, and I do mean nothing but impede the investigation and protect Paulus and Joran. That is the reality and I don’t care how much of a patriot you are. Don’t even try the “he is from Holland” crap.

You better hope your boy gives up her location, for free, btw, because now there is a Federal wire indictment and extortion charge and who knows who else will be named of Joran’s associates.

Blink, do you really think Van Der Sloot cares at all about the US charges against him? Even if he didn’t have the charge of murder over his head in Peru, would the US charges affect him? Is that an extriditeable charge? Would he have to set foot in the US for anything to happen to him on that charge? Has even ever been in the US? Could Beth Holloway file a wrongful death civil suit here in the US against Van Der Sloot?

    No, I don’t.
I don’t think he cares about either charge to tell you the truth.

But specifically, even though there is a Federal indictment, there has been no capias issued, so at this juncture even if he were not facing other charges they could not extradite him, per se.

It is my understanding that Beth already attempted to file a wrongful death suit in NY, and it was dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. Thus Tacapina.

The Federal charges against him will not even be heard until he is processed accordingly under Peruvian law for the murder of Stephany Flores Ramirez.

HOWEVER….. Depending upon the evidence that was gleaned for the “sting” from Joran with regard to Natalee’s death- which of course constitutes “standing” on American soil, it may be a second bite at that apple. Not sure yet.

some news sources are confirmin the victim was Beth Holloway:

“I just think we need to take a step back before we get to the ‘I told you so’ stage, and let’s see what the evidence is here,” Tacopina said Thursday.

Tacopina said he is not representing van der Sloot and no longer has a good relationship with the family.

Who’s reputation is Tacopina protecting here? The whole world practically knows JVS is a mindless killing machine (probably serial). Who’s he kidding besides himself?

  30. martha says:

I have always felt sorry for the average working person in Aruba who had nothing to do with Natalie’ death. These people already live in poverty. But there was definitely a coverup and part of that is because of their system of justice not as good as ours. When you go to another country you are under their jurisdiction if something horrible happens. So many young people go elsewhere for their first trip “without parents” and are naive about what can happen. Poor Natalie bought into that. Young girls should follow the rule “never let them take you from point A to point B—no matter what”. And rule to the wise dont go to a stranger’s motel room. What tragedies. Also I agree with what someone said above—I am sure that there are other women and young girls out there that he has disposed of that we will never know about. I personally think that Natalie was murdered and not sold. Pedofiles in those countries as here want much younger children—for example the Thailand sex trade vacations that are out there.

  31. chitownlady says:

Blink, from what I understand he was actually extorting money from Natalee Hollaway mother…….on the premise of him telling her about Natalie…..Suppose to have given him $15k…..Saddest reality ehre is is PERHAPS IF ALABAMA GOT OFF THEIR BEHINDS and actually arrested this PUNK for EXTORTION, STEPHANY would still be alive…..I am gonna assume PERU is gonna NAIL this murdering punk to a wall…..SWEET ! PERU will do what ARUBA failed too…..ONCE AGAIN, OUR SO CALLED JUSTICE SYSTEM FAILED! They failed by NOT DOING THEIR JOB AND ARREST VAN DER KILLER! SO sad. So sad. My prayers to the Flores-Rameriz family…..

Chitown- that is out of line I say respectfully- I have every confidence this sting was underway, and nobody could know what Vandersloot was up to, he is a drunken, rapist monkey as far as I am concerned.

To talk about Beth H that way is sickening i remember when Natalee ‘went missing’ I was 20 years old at the time and i remember thinking OMG if anything ever happened to me i could only hope and pray my mother would be as stong and determined as Beth Holloway!!! Do you remember how ARRRRRUUUUUBBIANS (just like YOU have triend to come here and do now) stood behind Joran and TAUNTED her with signs saying he was not guilty??????? what say you now??!!! Because Natalee was AMERICAN it turned into Beth vs Aruba when it should have been EVRYONE working together to help a MOTHER find her missing daughter. And Beth H took on ALL of ARUBA to find her baby everyday and every night!! And obviously still to this day she fights this monster for her baby’s justice and dignity as evidence by the FBI investigation!!! OOoooOOOhhhhhh sorry B but i am FIRED UP about this i will stop now cuz i could go on forrrrrrrrrrrevvvvvvvver *****BOYCOTT ARUBA****** until they come foward with the TRUTH!!

No one, no one, not one American should ever spend a minute nor a dollar ever again in Aruba. Proof of that is what Arubian said above. They depend on American tourism so badly, they have to cover up the murder of one of our children. Let that little windy ugly island go the Hell!

I hear ya Boz and friends, I want to lull the villagers a bit, after I was probably the ring leader-

I lost a very good friend of mine to my feelings about Aruba. I refused to be in a wedding that was taking place there two years ago. I struggled for days of her words of ” It is our wedding, who cares where it is”, it should not interfere with your personal feelings about what took place there just because you go for a friends nuptuals.

She went on to quote other places I had traveled for work or other and cite missing people or crimes, etc.

She made a fair point, in the end, after speaking with my friend Tim Miller, and his assurances she was there and it was a cover up of the organized variety, I could not.

I don’t think it puts Aruba in a positive light, if a citizen seeks to condemn or belittle the victim’s parent. On the other hand, the failure to seek justice in Aruba falls squarely on the authorities, the government, and not all the citizens of the country. I think that the poster above was taking things too personally, hence, got personal. Everyone in Aruba should be sighing from relief, that this killer is caught and no longer in their midst. If this happened in the US, I would be angry with the authorities here. Get some perspective, please.

As for Joran I think we can all rest assured knowing he will be rotting in a prison with not even the smallest comforts like bathrooms. He will wish he had plead guilty in Aruba by tghe end of the first day in one of Peru’s jails.

  38. martha says:

I agree that the Aruban authorities failed to protect their own citizens too. So it was tragic all the way around.

    Hi!!

Aruba really had nothing to do with this.

My family is originally from a poor country and I have a relative who happens who be very very wealthy with international recoginition. In poor countries, people are corrupt – they want to put food on their tables and help their families.

If Daddy Van der Sloot had enough money and power, he could have easily pulled strings, and this has no reflection on the people or the government of Aruba. We cannot pass judgement on a soverign country – every single country has a “black market”, including our own.

BLINK – I do have a question. I read the Holloway book and it stated that several weeks after her disapearance, Mr. Holloway recieved a phone call from his daughters cell phone number, where the caller was a girl who called him “Dad” but then got cut off.

Is there an accuracy to this report?

    Thanks in advance.

  43. jen says:

If her cell phone was working weeks after her disappearance why were they not able to trace it’s location? Or was that before that technology was developed?

  44. Kleat says:

Newsweek compares the two accused murderers, vd Sloot and Casey A on their behaviour and stories about what happened. http://www.newsweek.com/2010/06/04/for-van-der-sloot-the-end.html

That can’t be good for the A team as the public begins to realize what psychopaths are about and capable of when they have the charm and charisma (as George said of his daughter).

To ‘motive’ in the Peruvian slaying. There may be more to this than just a coincidental date, maybe not planned to get back at Natalie for all the wrong she has done to him, in his mind. But how is the broken neck and missing eye and unrecognizable condition of the victim and the extreme physical forces needed, explained? A rage because he couldn’t have sex with a woman who was in turmoil about her own sexuality and who friends say would never go to a hotel with a man she just met? Psychologists pointed out last night on ‘the shows’, that this level of rage is not normally seen except when there is a relationship for a length of time, or intimate relationship, yet this was a stranger in Joran’s room, recently met. No motive for this much rage– drugs? Or was it a flashback to Natalie and the problems he had to go through because of her that enraged him beyond what would normally be expected in this type of killing (so suggests the experts as a possibility on JWM)?

If this is the case, then the two cases are bound together, one the motive for the other, whether planned this way ahead of time, or whether these feelings, knowledge of the anniversary, and the added annoyance of the ‘sting’, they may be linked together. Blame others– blame the Holloway’s, others for making him do it.

30 years max in Peru and he might well be out of jail– how old will the Holloway’s be then, and anyone else who dared make statements against Joran’s interest?

(read the book preview pages of Dr. Hare’s book ‘Without Conscience’ and see how a psychopath doesn’t forget, doesn’t forgive, and doens’t even thank someone for helping– except to sabbotage a vehicle and try to kill the good ‘to be’ doctor from the jail). They will hold a grudge.

  45. Kleat says:

(adding point–also possible date rape drugged young woman, he wouldn’t have had to apply so much rage to kill her, even if in a rage, this was far over the top)

  46. Kleat says:

Maybe he was telling Beth, this is what i did to your daughter, and I did this because of you.

  47. JR says:

Arubian = you should be directing your anger at the few people who caused the problems for Aruba. not the mother of the girl who was killed, nor the people who simply call the cover-up like they see it. most of us are aware that the general population of Aruba didn’t ‘do’ this, but unfortunately it the handful of people that caused everyone to suffer.

    http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1006/03/ijvm.01.html

“VELEZ-MITCHELL: T.J. Ward, private investigator who searched for Natalee in Aruba, it`s too much coincidence. It can`t be coincidence. These parallels are absolutely creepy. Do you agree or not?

WARD: I agree. I agree. And I will tell you, as you know that I`ve talked about already, but this is a cover-up. So I want to go on to one thing, and I`m glad Tim Miller was with us tonight.

The — the crab trap that we are talking about that was found out in the — out behind the Marriott that was missing, we believe that Natalee was put in that crab trap and dumped in the ocean. Ironically, nobody has ever talked about there was the Persistence, the boat that went out and swept the ocean floor in January of 2008. And I believe Tim Miller was on that boat, found remains in a crab trap.

And after the — after the Aruban authorities found out that they found that, they took — and I think Tim was taken off the boat. And we`ve never heard anything about the remains that were found in that crab trap. None by the Aruban authorities whatsoever. So I`m telling you, this whole thing in Aruba stinks. ”

    (
and Tim Miller’s statements earlier in the same show about the crab trap)

”TIM MILLER, DIRECTOR, TEXAS EQUUSEARCH:

…And three years ago Dave Holloway and I were in Aruba doing the search for Natalee, and I believe it was actually on Natalee`s birthday, when Gerald Dompig, the police commissioner at the time, got us to his — to a private room and said that we need to be searching in the sea, that Joran Van Der Sloot was a sociopath, that he controlled the entire family, that his father was afraid of him.

We actually had a witness that`s seen Joran Van Der Sloot and Paulus Van Der Sloot on the night that Natalee disappeared that went to the authorities in Aruba to tell them where he`d seen them. They wouldn`t listen to him. He — that witness came to the United States and got polygraphed two times. I flew back to Aruba with the polygraph results.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: Let me ask — let me cut to the chase. Let me cut to the chase, Tim Miller. Did that Aruban official tell you, “Don`t bother looking for Natalee; we know she`s dead”?

MILLER: No, he said — Gerald Dompig said you need to be searching in the water. And then that`s when we actually put the deep water search together, which we was in that water for nearly three months. We`ve got 140 plus targets out there.

VELEZ-MITCHELL: But she would be dead, searching in the water.

MILLER: Oh, definitely. No, definitely dead. Definitely dead and feel as though that she is in some type of container. Otherwise Natalee would have floated.

And we have to remember the night Natalee disappeared, the fisherman`s hut was broken into. The knife was stolen. Let`s remember: Stephany was stabbed with a knife. We got a knife stolen from the fisherman`s hut. Also, the large fish trap was stolen with — plenty big to put Natalee`s little body in.”

—-> Question, where is that crab trap today? Did someone in the Aruban cover-up recover it and destroy or move?

  49. Lovely says:

Blink – thanks for the answer and clarification.

The call came from Natalie’s cell phone number…which means the phone was still being charged all those weeks later?

Were they ever aware of who made the call and what their motivation was (thinking this could be another Joran extortion attempt).

I really cannot even believe this kid – the whole world is watching and waiting for him to go to trial now.

  50. mosaic says:

I’m trying to make sense of the motive…she was beating him in poker so he invites her back to his room and breaks her neck?

Meanwhile, he’s been making a living by selling “stories” to the networks. I wonder how much FoxNews paid for the seven-part interviews with Greta. He’s been capitalizing on the death of a girl that he might have murdered…what an outrage.

    Arrogance gone bad.
