Portland, OR– Day 9 in the hunt for missing Portland child Kyron Horman. Click on Image below to play press conference.
“Search efforts Based on Information received to date.”
One of the primary objectives of the press conference directed by Capt. Monte Reiser of the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office was cleary to deflect meritless speculation about Kyron’s family that has permeated the web. It was also revealed MCSO has advised Kyron’s family that there are indications they need to be prepared for a long term search effort. Having followed and written about more similar cases to this than I care to, I can tell you from this press conference content I am confident the family has been cleared of any suspicion or involvement in this case.
Earlier in the day, search efforts utilized a Black Hawk helicopter in the Sauvi Island area, maintaining altitude at about 100 feet from the surface.
National Guard Black Hawk Flying Aerial Mission
Maintaining a sweep pattern above land and water surfaces, the aerial imaging equipment and technology is specifically designed to produce thermal, underwater and surface ground disturbances and anomalies. Those images are then analyzed by a geospatial imaging expert and juxtaposed or compared to the most recent satellite imagery available for the coordinates in an effort to exlude or include areas where Kyron might be.
According to a parent of a student at the Skyline School, whose identity is being withheld by blinkoncrime.com, while the FBI did question all students in the school, there are several sets of parents who have not been interviewed. It is the parents opinion that information was developed about halfway through the interviewing process that rendered additional parent interviews unnecessary.
Search efforts resumed today for Kyron Horman, check back to blinkoncrime.com for updates.
Kyron, his Step-Mom and former teacher Terri Moulton Horman worked diligently on Kyron’s submission to the second grade science fair on Friday June 4 at 8am. The bright-eyed, bespectacled, herpetologist in training also dressed for the occasion in his best CSI tshirt.
At 8:45 am, Terri said goodbye to her son who was a few feet from his classroom and left the Skyline School to return home to Kyron’s 18 month old sister.
Kyron has not been seen or heard from since.
What is particularly troubling is that Kyron seemingly vanished from the school that matriculates grades Kindergarden through 8th.,without anyone noticing his backpack and jacket were left on his desk in homeroom.
Although Kyron and his mom were seen together that morning as they dropped off his belongings in his classroom prior to viewing the science fair exhibits, he was marked absent. Kyron was also scheduled to be in the talent show at 1PM that same afternoon.
At approximately 3:45PM Terri Horman was waiting at the bus stop for Kyron, and when he did not get off the bus, she ran home and called the school, who told her he had been marked absent.
Multnomah County Sheriff received the 911 call from her at 4PM. Within minutes of Ms. Horman’s frantic alert, the state-wide hunt fo Kyron Horman, now in it’s seventh day, began.
Multnomah County Sheriff Dan Staton is leading 18 counties in Oregon in the search for young Kyron, and police have released no new details about the timeline surrounding his disappearance. Specifically, the last confirmed sighting of Kyron was at approximately 9am, but police will not say where that was within the school, or who he was with. Staton says they have no evidence Kyron was abducted, which would trigger an Amber alert.
The Horman family residence, in a deeply wooded area is 2.9 miles from the Skyline School, and his been the focus of explanded search efforts continuing through today.
When asked why the MCSO is releasing very little information as to what they think happened to Kyron, Capt. Monte Reiser:
If information gets out too early or before authorities have substantiated the tips, it “can affect the integrity of the investigation,” he said. “Misleading information can hamper both the search effort and the investigation.”
Incident commanders also said they would respect the Horman family’s wishes not to share their anguish with the public.
The Parents and family of Kyron Horman, through a statement read by MCSO Staton have publicly appealed for the community to continue support efforts to locate their son. The Hormon’s have refused all interview requests at presstime.

By 9am, the school day had already started and students were assembled into groups to tour the science fair. Student Parents would have vacated the building already.
The Science Fair does not appear on the school calendar, however, the talent show does, which means the bulk of the school would have been in attendance, at the same time, at 1PM. Possibility of someone leaving the school undetected and unsupervised?
Three days into the investigation, police state they have interviewed “most” of the faculty. For what reason, with a missing and endangered 7 year old child would they only have interviewed “most” of the faculty?
Search Teams are rechecking areas previously searched. In my mind, they have identified a suspect, and have possible ping data.
Hillsboro, Tx– Exactly one year ago today, Debra Janelle Jeter slit the throats of both her tween daughters, Kelsey and Kiersten, one day after the restraining order against her expired. Kelsey died in the attack.
According to family friend Robert Miller, Debra, who used her middle name Janelle, told her estranged husband Lee Jeter that she had a surprise waiting for their daughters that evening when she picked up Friday evening June 5, 2009.
Janelle had been in court the week before to request visitation after a failed suicide attempt on May 21, 2009, while her daughters were in her home. Following the attempt, Janelle was sent to a mental health facility in Waco Texas. Lee Jeter filed a restraining order against her in the meantime expressing concern his wife might harm the children when she was released.
Hill County Judge, A. Lee Harris, granted the UNSUPERVISED visitation request of a woman who had attempted suicide in front of her children less than 3 weeks before.
However, on a positive note, Judge Harris did RE-ISSUE a restraining order following the murder of Kelsey and the attempted murder of Kierstan. Helpful follow up considering one was deceased, one in ICU and the other in a jail cell (snark alert).
Four hours after Janelle Jeter picked up Kierstan and Kelsey, Hill County Sheriff received a 911 call from a woman refusing to identify herself, alleging she killed one of her children, and the other was asking to be saved. She refused to give her name, and never referenced either one of her daughter’s by name. At one point, Jeter calls the 911 operator a bitch.

Although Jeter was living with her Mother in Corsicana, cell phone records indicate she drove there from Lee Jeters residence and back, in search of an abandoned house location.
In an abandoned farmhouse in on 77 off route 35 in Hillsboro Debra, who goes by her middle name, Janelle, began her knife wielding attack, where Kiersten attempted to shield her younger sister and sustained stab wounds to her back. Janelle continued on to cut the throat of Kelsey in the bathroom, and then Kiersten in a bedroom.
When Police arrived, Jeter had placed the knife on top of her vehicle in the garage, and surrendered without incident.
After filings by her attorney that Jeter was mentally incompetent to stand trial, and a psychiatrists affirmation that she was indeed competent, Jeter pled guilty to the murder of Kelsey to avoid the death penalty.
As part of the plea agreement, on June 2nd, the 911 calls were released to the media.
Prior to moving Jeter to her new cell, where she will spend the rest of her natural life without the possibility of parole, Janelle Jeter met with her former husband and Kiersten Jeter to apologize.
To date, Ms. Jeter has refused all media requests, and refuses to reveal the motive for her attacks on her daughters.
Peoria, IL– A cellmate of Drew Peterson’s believes his cellie had an accomplice in the disposal of his wife’s remains, and that accomplice is talking to police.
Peterson, in prison awaiting trial for the murder of wife no. 3, Kathleen Savio, reportedly told his bunk buddy the identity of the individual who helped him bury Stacy Peterson, according to TMZ.
Will County Sheriff’s Office then approached the alleged accomplice, who in turn led them to private hunting grounds just outside of Metamora, Illinois.
With the landowner’s permission, Cadaver k9’s were used to confirm the possible burial site, which immediately led police to the exact location of what is alleged to be that of the remains of Stacy Peterson, inside an enclosed metal drum.
Further confirmation, possibly through the use of ground penetrating radar, (GPR) indicated their is a large container consistent with the witness account, within the soil.
The Illinois State Police was dispatched to guard the property overnight, and crews will begin digging this morning.
Will County Sheriffs Office has a forensic recovery team onsite today, please check back to blinkoncrime.com for any developments in this case.
Birmingham, AL– Joran Van Der Sloot, suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, and now the murder of Peruvian woman Stephany Flores Ramirez, is facing Federal extortion charges in Alabama.
On or about May 10, 2010, A person known to Mr. Van Der Sloot wire transferred $15,000 from an Alabama bank to a financial institution in the Netherlands.
The complaint, who does not name the party who dealt with Van Der Sloot directly, goes on to say that the funds were a deposit to secure the location of Natalee Holloway’s remains and the circumstances in which she died.
It would appear, given the date of the filing today, that Joran Van Der Sloot was the focus of a Federal sting.
Who was he attempting to extort?
Sources, willing to speak to blinkoncrime.com only on the condition of anonymity, suggest the victim of Van Der Sloot’s extortion plot was none other than Natalee’s mother, Beth Holloway.
Ms. Holloway has been unavailable for comment since the news of Joran’s involvement with the Peruvian murder broke, and has not answered requests for interviews.
Stephany Flores Ramirez was murdered in her hotel room on the 5th anniversary of the disappearance of Natlee Holloway.
Is it possible he found out about the sting, and snapped to get back at the mother of the very girl who many believe also met her end in his hands?
The inconceivable in this case is becoming more conceivable by the moment.
