On what is Kyron Horman’s 8th Birthday, the Skyline School, where Kyron was scheduled to begin the third grade, is buzzing with the start of the years activities without him.

< ?xml:namespace prefix ="" o />

In response to the disappearance and presumed abduction of the bespectacled herpetologist; Skyline has implemented a myriad of mandatory safety features as well as a state of the art security camera system. While complete with facial recognition capability, one face it will not be recognizing today, is that of Kyron Horman.

Although missing since the morning of June 4, 2010, there have been no updates from the many State and Federal agencies participating in the criminal investigation of his disappearance since August 12, 2010.

Adding to the mounting concern about the status of Kyron’s fate are the words of his own parents, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young.

“The police will not stop until they find Kyron and the harder they have to search–the harder this will get for you,” wrote Young. “You will go to jail and whoever has been helping you will have to talk police or they will go to jail.”

It is clear from Kaine and Desiree’s comments that they believe Terri Horman, Kyron’s step mom, is at least partially responsible for Kyron vanishing. While they stop short of naming any possible accomplices, Rod Underhill, the chief deputy district attorney of Multnomah County, Captain Jason Gates, Detective Bob O’Donnell of the Multnomah County Sheriff Office have sought the publics help to flush them out. Multnomah County Chief Deputy District Attorney Rod Underhill said a witness, or witnesses, have reported seeing someone else by the Hormans’ extended-cab pickup while it was parked in front of the school between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on June 4, the day Kyron disappeared. In what was characterized as a slip-up, methinks that that Kyron’s Mom told us that someone was actually Kyron.

KaineTruck

While Terri Horman is holed up at her parents newly refinanced home in Roseburg and under the mortgage-sized retainer protection of Stephen Houze; she is awaiting the September 21st contempt hearing  for allegedly violating an order that she not disclose the “sealed” reasoning for, or contents of,  the current restraining order in effect against her.

Accomplice, Witness, Opportunist or Collateral Damage?

Rodolfo “Rudy” Estrada Sanchez

Sanchez 1

Rudy is the owner of RS Landscape Maintenance and the alleged former landscaper/ love interest of Terri Horman.  He is also the man who says Terri Horman asked him to murder her husband Kaine late last year. Investigators clearly believed his story as it was the basis for an attempted sting on June 26th by MCSO including an undercover DEA agent. Sanchez, wearing a wire, demanded a $10,000 payment from Horman for services rendered, except Kaine was very much alive. As the information gleaned from Sanchez provided to Kaine Horman indicates this alleged “contract”discussion with his wife happened over 7 months ago, it is unclear what the payment demand could actually be for. Sanchez testified before the grand jury on August 4. While the content of his testimony is secret, the fact that whatever he testified to outside of pleading the “On the advice of counsel I plead the 5th and hereby assert all of it’s protections.” grants him a level of immunity, in addition to whatever he may or may not have already been granted by the District Attorney.

When reached at one of the numbers records show is billed in his brothers name, Jaime Estrada Sanchez, who uses the name Jaime Estrada on his carpet cleaning business website declined to comment to blinkoncrime.com and the number has since been disconnected.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a close family friend who has since been interviewed by the FBI, has confirmed that Terri Horman is pointing her finger directly at Sanchez. She has also stated that she and Sanchez had an altercation after she attempted to end their relationship in May which ended in a 911 call and a visit from Clackamas County Sheriff Office in the presence of Sanchez’s wife and children. While it did not result in any charges, Horman told the source that the landscaper was furious with her because he is not in the US legally. While blinkoncrime.com has not been able to verify the date of the alleged 911 call, we have been able to verify that Terri called her Mother immediately following the incident and told her that Kaine had found out about the landscaper she hired to do what she referred to as “her yardwork” and when she informed him that she could no longer use him because Kaine was making her fire him, he lunged at her with Kiara in her arms. Kaine Horman denies the couple ever hired the landscaper as well as any previous information as to his estranged wife’s possible dealings with Sanchez.

It should be noted that Mr. Sanchez has not been charged with any crime in this matter and local references to his business are highly complimentary. In fact, Jean Ann Van Krevelen a friend and “mentor” of Dede Spicher has used RS Landscape Maintenance on a few occasions, leaving positive reviews on the ServiceMaster listing which deleted his business from the site on 6/21/10.  Heather Walters, owner of Rosemont Farm, which is not West Wind Farm, where Dede Spicher was working the morning of June 4th and out of reach by phone from approximately 90 minutes, has never met Terri Horman or heard of their family prior to Kyron’s disappearance. When I asked her if she knew Rudy Sanchez or if she ever hired his firm to work at WWF, she replied “not that I recall, no, but we did have a blackberry clean up a few years ago so it is possible.”

Anselmo Sanchez-Sanchez

Anselmoor

As reported on blinkoncrime.com, Anselmo was booked into the MCSO on July 8, 2010 on a hold from the US Marshall Service. He was held until August () and returned to Federal custody in Sheridan. While residence records and a private post to blinkoncrime.com indicate the Sanchez’s know each other, at a minimum, it is unknown if Anselmo has any direct connection to this case. What is known, is that Anselmo Sanchez a/k/a Freddy Atristad Sanchez has been in Federal Custody since March 4, 2010.

 Or has he?

Although records indicate that he was placed under post probation supervision by ICE on February 19, 2010, according to Mr. Sanchez-Sanchez Federal criminal docket after being “found in the US and apprehended” in  August 2009” following a previous deportation in 2003, he was “administratively arrested” on February 23, 2010. A Federal Grand Jury’s subsequent indictment was issued on March 4 and he was immediately incarcerated.

Mr. Sanchez-Sanchez rap sheet includes convictions for rape, failure to register as a sex offender and a host of probation and parole violations prior to his deportation.

In what can only be categorized as a bizarre coincidence, Oregon BOP VINE network shows that on June 26, 2010, they very day of the “sting” involving Rudy Sanchez, Anselmo was transferred and released to “community supervision”.  There is no record of either his transfer or his booking by MCSO July 8th on his docket. What is reflected on the record for June 21st, is the US Marshall Service requested a rescheduling of his plea hearing on July 1st   - July 12th directly with the presiding judge outside of his Federal appointed defense attorney.  Yep. Exparte.  Mr. Sanchez attorney Allison Clark used the 7/12/10 court date to file a motion to quit the case.  They have subsequently worked through their differences and were scheduled to appear yesterday, but a 4th continuance in the case was granted to reschedule for October 7, 2010. In that motion, Ms. Clark asserts that Mr. Sanchez has been in custody the entire time but that his records are difficult to retrieve so more time to prepare for trial is necessary.  I’ll say.

Dede Spicher

Dede

Doppelganger. Organic Gardner. Jilted girlfriend and support network for Terri Horman.

Up until a few weeks ago, she was also very much the object of accusation by Desiree Young and Kaine Horman, as well as the investigators assigned to Kyron’s case. So much so, they released a flyer featuring the ginger ladies and the infamous white truck. LE has subsequently backed off of Spicher and publicly stated they do not believe it was her in the white truck in the lot of the Skyline School. Dede’s father is a semi-retired Klamath County Sheriff deputy. If it can be confirmed Spicher knew Kyron was missing on June 4th we have a very big problem.

Blinkoncrime.com is in receipt of a private post through a mutual friend of Dede’s in response to an article about Kyron’s disappearance from the school which was post on June 4th at 11:40PM

Spicher responded on June 5 at 7:44am: Holy Crap! I KNOW this boy!

Mutual Friend, June 5, 1:35PM: no way???!!! Really Dede?

Spicher: yes. My friend Terri is the step-mother mentioned in the article. It’s so shocking when something like this hits so close to home. < ?xml:namespace prefix ="" v />June 5 at 5:44pm

Michael Cook

MichaelCook

The source of both information for the contempt filing and hundreds of sexts exchanged between he and Terri Horman following Kaine Horman’s filing for divorce and leaving the marital residence as advised by MCSO, Michael Cook was a high school classmate of Kaine Horman.

Mr. Cook is also one smarmy dude if his former spouse Shannon has anything to say about it.

Oddly, blinkoncrime.com has learned from an inside source that Cook was not called before the grand jury to testify. In the instant action for contempt, Kaine Horman’s attorney Laura Rackner specifically references the “sexting” and the text regarding Houze’s fee as information provided by law enforcement.

So, was he acting as an agent for le or is he himself under investigation?

Jason Wishert

Jasonwishert

William Jason Wishert is undoubtedly wishing he had not interjected himself in this case. Apparently new to the blogosphere via a request from Maxine Bernstein of the Oregonian, Mr. Wishert took to what he saw as his *nuveau*cause*celeb* status with moxy.

That was until he announced his appearance on the scaredmonkeys.net forum to answer questions about the case and cry the blues when he accused the Oregonian of using his rough notes to skewer Dede Spicher.  According to Wishert the “not a lot of kissing but plenty of telling” memo was not supposed to be published.  About 3 minutes into his introduction to his “sleuthing public” Wishert was asked why he spelled his name incorrectly and if he was indeed the son of convicted child porn possessor William Kent Wishart.  In a really bad move, Mr. Wishert denied the allegation and retreated with his tail somewhere on his person.

Kent Wishart, former CEO of Graphic Sciences, is in Federal Custody for the next 4 years for possession of child porn and engaging in a file sharing subscription for same. Jason’s brother Grant is an employee of GS.  All three Wishert’s hold numerous active and inactive business licenses throughout Oregon and Washington.  Graphic Sciences has a Mexican affiliate office.

Both Jason and his brother James Grant have had numerous legal entanglements (editor’s note: say it just like Chief Margie with the flat “a”) and our attempts to substantiate Jason’s claims about court appointed child advocacy certifications have yet to be confirmed.

However, with his Uncle John Kerr, Jason Wishert is heavily involved in the Friends of Pimpollo Charity which sponsors various children issues and an orphanage in Mexico.  FOP is a verified charity with a 50% tax deduction rate according to IRS Publication 78 in good standing, but they are years behind in their annual reporting.

Birthday Boy and America’s Frog Prince

Today, Kyron Horman’s eigth birthday, may not bring us any closer to where our frog prince is, but we do wish to extend our thoughts and prayers in celebration of his special day to his parents, friends and family. There are 2 celebrations for Kyron today. The picture below is an image of the birthday invitation chosen by his Mom, Desiree Young, and designed by scaredmonkeys poster Brandi.

Thanks for the clarification blink. I posted yesterday about the picture of DD and TH at the Azteca in on of your artcles. If you blow up the picture and brighten it there is a man sitting behind TH and DD with two children. The one on his lap appears to be a boy 2 maybe 3 years old. I can’t tell the sex of the child across the table but would take a stab that he/she is about 5-7 years old. The mans’ face cannot be completely seen but he appears to have a mustache and his chin bears a striking resemblance to RS. I point this out because it could help to establish a link between RS US and JS. Any chance you have other photos from that B’Day party?

Mi Dio! La familia de Sanchez is mucho grande, no? Donde es el Advil para mi cabeza?!

I’ve driven down Farmington Road lots of times, so I’ll do a drive by and scope it out sometime this week. There are hundreds if not thousands of acres of nurseries and wineries around here which equals lots of “migrant” workers. Some folks call it Hillsburrito for that very reason. I know, how rude. Anyway, there are lots of them around and they have lots of kids going to the schools out here. Many of them don’t speak much English, which drives me nuts at times because I don’t know half of what they’re saying. And that is the situation in Washington County.

I have a question about 2 children from Skyline who the FBI talked to. Andrew Drezel and Jacob Schreiber, both 9, and Kyron’s classmates. I’m thinking they could be some witnesses for what happened on June 4. *keep private if you wish* I can’t provide a link; I linked True Crimes on here before and the next day they locked it. Maybe coincidence or I broke a rule, which was not my intent. But I won’t link True Crimes any more.

Don’t know where the address on the poster went.

@ cartwheel and Rich M and anyone else researching the house related to Rudy – if you missed the posts I linked to above, you can go back and get some more information. I didn’t post the street number, but I have it and it’s part of public information. I wasn’t sure who else lives there now besides Jaime who seems to be Rudy’s brother – maybe people who are not involved in this case at all.

Rudy’s Canby address was only a PO Box. According to the Milwaukie tax map, the house isn’t actually in the Milwaukie city limits but is in Clackamas County. Rudy used this address for his business name application in Oregon – I’m not entirely sure whether he actually lived there at any point, or who else does besides Jaime.

If Rudy’s truck was indeed registered in Washington, he would have needed a Washington address at the time and until he moved, or he could have licensed it as a business vehicle in Washington if he had a business address connection there. Since Blink said it was registered in Washington, I was hoping she would know and give us the address used or at least a hint.

The UCC information which refers to a Rodolfo Sanchez only lists who money is owed to for legal action if needed, not what the loans are for. All 4 of those appear to relate in some way to Muchas Gracias in Vancouver which I think Blink says is owned by a different person. I don’t think the actual loan application for anyone’s truck would be a public document, so the information would have to come by checking the license plate number which we don’t have and which is not accessible to the general public in Oregon, and probably Washington, as far as I know (it used to be).

Another possibility could be that he leased it in Washington and the leasing company would still be considered the owner. In that case, I’m unclear whether the truck would have a WA license plate or an OR plate if he lived here – I was hoping Blink would say because a WA plate would narrow things down a bit when watching what’s happening here.

I’d be surprised if Rudy still lived at the house now, if he ever actually did. I would think LE would have him somewhere else less accessible to media or whoever. Maybe he has in-laws in Washington.

Anyone else pick up on the fact that Kyron is young for his class by 1 year. The Portland Public School enrollment deadline is Sept. 1 and he missed that cut off by 8 days. Some parents with kids born around the cut off date, do petition the school district to make an exception, but it is a bit of a process.
    According to the PPS website:

“The TAG (Talented and Gifted) Office will make the final determination to accept a student for Early Entry based on the following criteria:
test scores; an intelligence quotient at or above the 95th percentile
the child’s preschool history and experiences
the child is in good health and free of emotional problems
eye-hand coordination should suggest at least average perceptual-motor skills
evident reading readiness, if not reading ability
verbal and quantitative reasoning merit weight since these abilities appear central to school success
observational and interview findings of principal

The fee for an evaluation for early entry into kindergarten performed by our licensed school psychologist is $325, and it must be paid before the test can be given. This fee includes an evaluation and a cursory report.”

He must be a pretty smart little boy! But I guess we all gleaned that.
I still can’t wrap my brain around the idea of TH just getting rid of him. As an educator of sorts herself, wouldn’t Kyron be a shining example of her “success.” She strikes me as someone who wants to be admired.

Yeah… I know. I’m sure she is up to her eyeballs all right. I have NO DOUBT about that (MOO)… just wish we could see resolution to this case somewhere on the horizon. More than anything, I wish justice and peace for Kyron.

There are many great points on this site. At the end, I always come back to this thought…”that I cannot believe all these LE agencies, and not one arrest, and still..no Kyron”.

I have a question FOR ANYBODY… the divorce proceedings are underway, right? SO, does anybody think that we will see anything happen with Kyron’s case until AFTER the divorce proceedings? And, I don’t much care if they have or haven’t “called” TH a POI or suspect, what I care about is an arrest. So, my other question would be, *IF* LE had enough solid evidence to arrest her, would they hold off on arresting her for the sake of these other parallel investigations going on?

    God be with you, Kyron.

    @pps mom

I had noticed that before and it made me feel sad for Kyron. I have worked as a school counselor and am very surprised that, as an educator, Terri didn’t advocate for Kyron to start school a year later. Being almost a year younger than peers is a major disadvantage, especially for boys. Even if the student is ready for the academic challenge, expecting a child that is younger than his peers to have the same attention span is very unfair. It also puts male students at a disadvantage in sports and P.E. It very likely was the cause of Kyron’s 2nd grade teacher’s negative reports to Terri about Kyron’s attention in class. Poor Kyron!

It is possible that the reason Terri was being so hard on Kyron about his school behavior is that she advocated to put him in school early and Kaine and Desiree may have trusted her in this.

Infrared, grid search still turn up no sign of missing Skyline boy

Infrared, grid search still turn up no sign of missing Skyline boy

(only brought over the part relevant to my prev post)

We were given an inside look at Kyron’s classroom here at Skyline Elementary. Inside Ms. Porter’s second- and third-grade blended class we saw a glimpse into who this 7-year-old boy is: Kyron liked art and we’re told the second grader is very good at it. Kyron wrote about splashing in a lake, with artwork to compliment his writing assignment. We also saw his science fair project, which was about red tree frogs.

I am familiar with blended classrooms. Nonetheless, starting 3rd grade before one turns 8 is young. That is why school districts have cutoffs for when a student’s birthday must be to enter kindergarten in a particular year. Blended classrooms occur because the school needs to combine some students from two grades to keep staff costs lower. Those students will not start 9th grade in a blended classroom. Starting 9th grade at age 13 is a huge disadvantage to a male student. Very few educators would do that to their own sons.

He would have started third grade on September 7 and turned eight on September 9…two days is not that big of a deal. If he waited another year, he would essentially be starting third grade at 9 and, eventually, 8th grade at 14. I personally think that is too old and puts the other boys at a disadvantage in sports and overall maturity. Everyone does this in West L.A. to give their kids an unfair advantage and it really skews the class in an unhealthy direction.

There is a reason Ky is missing. I think TH was involved from the get-go with his disappearance. The truth is, we may never know what happened to him. Not only would he be young for his class, but being in a split class, he would be getting some instruction aimed at the higher grade level. In a recent article about his birthday, his step-brother James said Kyron is “highly intelligent with a knack for math.”

As I reading tutor this stood out to me:

“But perhaps his biggest advance was in reading.

“It was very hard for him,” Horman said. “He would like it if you read him a book, but him reading a book — not so much.”

Kyron went from testing below grade level to being slightly above.”

While this is completely normal for a gifted student to have areas of strengths and weakness, I’ve seen teachers belittle children for not being strong all around. It sounds as if Terri expected perfection as well. Kyron reminds me so much of my son at that age it hurts.

My son was assigned the book “Outliers” by Malcolm Gladwell as summer reading for his AP English class. Gladwell talks a about how one’s birth month affects success in school and athletics. My birthday is June and my school wanted me to skip first grade. My mom said “No way” – I was already young for my class. According to Gladwell, I’m at a huge disadvantage just being born in June.

The only one of my mother-in-law’s grandchildren to play sports at the college level has his birthday on September 18. However, my husband went to college on a football scholarship and his birthday is July 1. So, I think these decisions should be made on a case by case basis. However, Kyron struggles in reading make me think his parents jumped the gun with his early admission to kindergarten.

And, I don’t much care if they have or haven’t “called” TH a POI or suspect, what I care about is an arrest. So, my other question would be, *IF* LE had enough solid evidence to arrest her, would they hold off on arresting her for the sake of these other parallel investigations going on?

I agree with sjso -one is civil, the other is criminal. We MUST develop some sort of understanding in this country about how to handle names from countries/cultures where they are put together in so many different ways. Even when those of us research and learn how names are properly used, the databases we use can’t or won’t do what we need.

We need to all write to Congress about having a culturally and technologically diverse group appointed to figure this out. Our computer systems cannot handle it and it is not the fault of those coming here and trying to fill out forms honestly. It would require major changes, but I think it could be done – we got through the big “computer crash” into this century, we can get through this. Maybe Bill Gates would chair the committee. As I recall, even the census we just did, didn’t handle this very well either.

It isn’t just a problem for LE. In the high school where I worked, the secretary would add hyphens to get the computer to alphabetize consistently. We kept an empty folder with the student’s name reversed on it to reference where it was located properly in the file. Names would be shortened because the district didn’t provide enough space in the computer fields.

In the hospital where my daughter works in a lab, they have this problem as well and personally check all records repeatedly.

People new to this country often do not understand surnames or the order of names as we use them. They may fill out a form one way for school or bank or medical treatment or DMV and then be asked about their name a different way at the next place and have a receptionist type it in differently. Many people think a child’s last 2 names are exactly the same as mom’s and dad’s, but that is often not true. We tend to think it is somehow deceitful, although we are the ones getting it wrong, or we don’t want to cause embarrassment so we don’t ask enough questions.

There is nothing about having a person’s complete set of names in correct, consistent order and their birth date on a form that would take away any rights they have – if anything, it would preserve their rights and allow information to be coordinated quickly and accurately. If it is a public record, it avoids confusion and if it is not a public record, it doesn’t conflict with privacy rights anyway.

This would benefit everybody, and if we at least could get an accurate set of databases going for those who are honest and doing their best to comply with what is asked, that would leave fewer people to try to match up when searching for criminals, IMO (sorry, soapbox again).

I found two UCC filings for Rodolfo Sanchez, both with addresses in Vancouver. Blink, are the names Mark S Zimel and Craig F Eisenberg relevant to this case? If not, I don’t want to waste every ones time. If so, OMG! We thought the tangled Sanchez web was confusing, well this web of businesses and connections is even more daunting and “we’re movin’ on up to the big league.”

Blink, I don’t know how you keep up on one case, let alone all the cases you have here. I consider even if these people are involved, LE already knows that and we are playing catch up, trying to understand and make some sense of a senseless situation. What bothers me, it they have this part all figured out and we still don’t know where Kyron is. :(

That is WA Rodolfo, not OR Rudy.

@ melissab According to the Portland Public School website, Kyron would have had to have tested at the 95th percentile or above to have the date requirement of a September 1st birthday waived by the school district. So he either qualifies as Talented and Gifted, or else his parents were able to persuade PPS to make an exception to their own policy, if he tested lower than the 95th percentile.

Melissa, it is typical for students to enter 2nd grade already 7 years old and turn 8 before the 2nd grade is finished.

    ———————————————————————-

@Dee, I respectfully disagree with you due to professional and personal experience. I am one of four siblings. My brother, whose birthday is in the latter part of September, started 1st grade at the age of 5 and turned 6 later that month. He was the youngest child in his class and he had classmates a year older than him. There is no question of my brother’s intelligence, but compared to the other three children in our family he had lower grades, more teacher complaints about his behavior, and a big disadvantage in sports, which he loved and excelled at, though he just couldn’t fairly compete in terms of size. One of his classmates who was also on the basketball team, track and cross country teams with my brother, was actually born on the same day one year earlier and they were in the same grade.

That problem was compounded by putting Kyron in a blended classroom with 3rd graders while he was in 2nd. He was either the youngest student in the classroom or very close to being the youngest student. He was probably the smallest boy in his classroom. It would be unusual statistically in that scenario for Kyron not to have some classmates who were a full two years older than him. This is not a scenario I would put my son in. It is a scenario that would set Kyron up for negative attention from his teacher and step-mom, because they were comparing his classroom behavior to students who were typically older than Kyron by as little as a few weeks but potentially up to 2 years.

I am with you, not seeing it.
    B

I did very well in school and as much as my step mom was concerned with both her professional and personal image – it really didn’t matter to her how my grades were – at all. She will still go on about how her own son was always at the top of his class (although he’s now in his 40′s), but I’m not even sure if she was ever aware of my equal standing or even interested enough that it would ever be discussed.

Some people (not all) have a serious disconnect with their step children even if they are the ever doting parent to their own children. The various subtleties I once pointed out about Terri’s facebook and videos, was me seeing the similarities of Terri’s obvious disconnect.

Compared to the concern she has for herself and what she wanted in her own life, Kyron could of easily meant very little to her…if at all.

  41. jedinor says:

Regarding Kyron’s age: Individual states determine the age at which students enter school. In Oregon we have a September 1 cut off date. Kids must turn six before September 1 to enter first grade, and seven before entering second grade. Students who start second grade before turning seven have either transferred from another state or have successfully petitioned to start early. In a 2/3 blended classes he could potentially be two years younger than some of his classmates. He would certainly be the youngest third-grade in my classroom this year.

  42. MockingbirdSings says:

Re the sting – what do we still need to know about that in order to help solve this case? (I’m not sure.)

I’m not worried about what was said to Terri – one of the 2 men knew her and the other was LE, so whatever approach was used would have been decided and approved in advance. I have always thought, though I guess it wasn’t spelled out, that the request was for “hush money”, which means they were prepared to say how they could prove she did request the MFH, or they wanted her to at least say, “Yeah, but you can’t prove it.”

If Rudy was the one she approached, and I think it was if he was the one having the affair, then he would have been the one to do the sting. If anyone else did it, it would have to be someone Rudy contacted to do the actual job – and I don’t think a hit man would want his identity known to LE or Terri (if she didn’t already know), nor do I think Rudy really tried to provide a hit man, but if he had, I don’t think he’d have given that name to the police.

So Rudy and the undercover guy asking for money to keep quiet – that’s about it – although I’d like to know again how LE justified (to Terri) why Rudy was bringing someone else along. I realize she probably didn’t want Rudy around, alone or not. I realize the undercover guy may have been there to keep an eye on Rudy and make sure nothing got out of hand, but it seems having a second person along whom she had never met would certainly upset her no matter what the story was.

I suppose Rudy was to play the “innocent guy who just tried to help her out” and LE was the “hitman Rudy had told about the ‘job opportunity’ and who wanted money when he didn’t get the job”? She probably thought Rudy wouldn’t report her and the hitman didn’t have anything direct to go on – if she thought at all. It sounds like she reacted pretty fast to call 911, but that’s been the way she uses LE in the past.

If Anselmo or anyone besides Rudy tried to do the sting, I can see why an undercover guy would have to be there, but if the LS who went there wasn’t Rudy, how would this LS explain bringing along an extra person if he actually WAS an extra person? I am too confused about Anselmo’s whereabouts on this or that date to know if he was even available (out of jail).

Maybe they wanted to see who Terri would call after they left – to get the money if she had agreed.

No clue how this got hung up, sorry. Bumping.

I also saw the Woodburn address somewhere official and then went back later to verify but it was gone. Who has the power and ability to scrub that so quickly and efficiently?

  44. JEN says:

@JR: My DH had a stepmom like that. I’m sorry you had such a negative experience.

On the other hand, we have zero proof that Terri was any less connected emotionally to Kyron than any of the other parental figures in his life. In fact, I’m guessing (based on my own experience as a mom and stepmom) that she spent more time with him than anyone outside of school. She also doesn’t appear to have doted on James more so than Kyron; no imbalance of attention visible to me, anyway. Sometimes I wonder if people forget that this woman was this child’s primary caregiver for years – and that by all accounts thus far, he was happy and healthy and (IMO) loved.

I’m not alleging that Terri wasn’t somehow involved in this. I’m just saying that I’m not feeling the theories that portray Terri as a cold, disconnected stepmonster. Like Blink said, I can’t wrap my mind around the idea that she may have engineered Ky’s disappearance, that she could interact and love and care for this child on a daily basis, helping to raise him from toddlerhood, providing social and educational experiences, and then decide that he’s disposable. But maybe I’m just naïve.

Two of them I would have sent early if they had a late Sept. birthday, the other I wouldn’t have. I think a lot of things factor into the decision. Social skills, comprehension skills, ect. JMO!

  50. Dee says:

    @ Pondering Life

My youngest son had the exact same situation as your brother and you are correct about the disadvantage boys suffer when they are the youngest in their class. The problem is the boys that are held back a full year like the one who was a full year older than your brother. If he met the cutoff date, then he should have been in the next grade up. We have to realize that, by holding so many boys back a year, we are skewing the traditional ages of each grade and actually causing a wider age gap in each grade, especially because most girls are not being held back so you now have classrooms where some of the boys are almost two years older than the girls in the same grade. In my son’s school, there were 7 year old boys in kindergarten and that was unfair to the 5 year olds who had a right to be there. The solution, IMHO, is to have a cutoff date for each grade and stick to it…no older kids. I also think the cutoff date could be moved up a month or two so that everyone starting kindergarten would have to be 5 before school started.

I do, however, totally agree with you about Kyron being too young for the blended class. If my son was one of the youngest in his grade, I would never put him in that grade mixed with the next grade up, i.e. 2nd/3rd grade blend when he’s only just turning 7. That would create a stressful situation for him, especially considering his eyesight. I wonder if Terri pushed him academically so she could brag that her educational influence made him such a smart child. That may explain why she was so hard on him behaviorally…she was worried about how his performance would reflect on her reputation as an educator/parent.
