On what is Kyron Horman’s 8th Birthday, the Skyline School, where Kyron was scheduled to begin the third grade, is buzzing with the start of the years activities without him.

In response to the disappearance and presumed abduction of the bespectacled herpetologist; Skyline has implemented a myriad of mandatory safety features as well as a state of the art security camera system. While complete with facial recognition capability, one face it will not be recognizing today, is that of Kyron Horman.
Although missing since the morning of June 4, 2010, there have been no updates from the many State and Federal agencies participating in the criminal investigation of his disappearance since August 12, 2010.
Adding to the mounting concern about the status of Kyron’s fate are the words of his own parents, Kaine Horman and Desiree Young.
“The police will not stop until they find Kyron and the harder they have to search–the harder this will get for you,” wrote Young. “You will go to jail and whoever has been helping you will have to talk police or they will go to jail.”
It is clear from Kaine and Desiree’s comments that they believe Terri Horman, Kyron’s step mom, is at least partially responsible for Kyron vanishing. While they stop short of naming any possible accomplices, Rod Underhill, the chief deputy district attorney of Multnomah County, Captain Jason Gates, Detective Bob O’Donnell of the Multnomah County Sheriff Office have sought the publics help to flush them out. Multnomah County Chief Deputy District Attorney Rod Underhill said a witness, or witnesses, have reported seeing someone else by the Hormans’ extended-cab pickup while it was parked in front of the school between 8:15 a.m. and 8:45 a.m. on June 4, the day Kyron disappeared. In what was characterized as a slip-up, methinks that that Kyron’s Mom told us that someone was actually Kyron.
While Terri Horman is holed up at her parents newly refinanced home in Roseburg and under the mortgage-sized retainer protection of Stephen Houze; she is awaiting the September 21st contempt hearing for allegedly violating an order that she not disclose the “sealed” reasoning for, or contents of, the current restraining order in effect against her.
Accomplice, Witness, Opportunist or Collateral Damage?
Rodolfo “Rudy” Estrada Sanchez
When reached at one of the numbers records show is billed in his brothers name, Jaime Estrada Sanchez, who uses the name Jaime Estrada on his carpet cleaning business website declined to comment to blinkoncrime.com and the number has since been disconnected.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity, a close family friend who has since been interviewed by the FBI, has confirmed that Terri Horman is pointing her finger directly at Sanchez. She has also stated that she and Sanchez had an altercation after she attempted to end their relationship in May which ended in a 911 call and a visit from Clackamas County Sheriff Office in the presence of Sanchez’s wife and children. While it did not result in any charges, Horman told the source that the landscaper was furious with her because he is not in the US legally. While blinkoncrime.com has not been able to verify the date of the alleged 911 call, we have been able to verify that Terri called her Mother immediately following the incident and told her that Kaine had found out about the landscaper she hired to do what she referred to as “her yardwork” and when she informed him that she could no longer use him because Kaine was making her fire him, he lunged at her with Kiara in her arms. Kaine Horman denies the couple ever hired the landscaper as well as any previous information as to his estranged wife’s possible dealings with Sanchez.
It should be noted that Mr. Sanchez has not been charged with any crime in this matter and local references to his business are highly complimentary. In fact, Jean Ann Van Krevelen a friend and “mentor” of Dede Spicher has used RS Landscape Maintenance on a few occasions, leaving positive reviews on the ServiceMaster listing which deleted his business from the site on 6/21/10. Heather Walters, owner of Rosemont Farm,which is not West Wind Farm, where Dede Spicher was working the morning of June 4th and out of reach by phone from approximately 90 minutes, has never met Terri Horman or heard of their family prior to Kyron’s disappearance. When I asked her if she knew Rudy Sanchez or if she ever hired his firm to work at WWF, she replied “not that I recall, no, but we did have a blackberry clean up a few years ago so it is possible.”

Although records indicate that he was placed under post probation supervision by ICE on February 19, 2010, according to Mr. Sanchez-Sanchez Federal criminal docket after being “found in the US and apprehended” in August 2009” following a previous deportation in 2003, he was “administratively arrested” on February 23, 2010. A Federal Grand Jury’s subsequent indictment was issued on March 4 and he was immediately incarcerated.
Mr. Sanchez-Sanchez rap sheet includes convictions for rape, failure to register as a sex offender and a host of probation and parole violations prior to his deportation.
In what can only be categorized as a bizarre coincidence, Oregon BOP VINE network shows that on June 26, 2010, they very day of the “sting” involving Rudy Sanchez, Anselmo was transferred and released to “community supervision”. There is no record of either his transfer or his booking by MCSO July 8th on his docket. What is reflected on the record for June 21st, is the US Marshall Service requested a rescheduling of his plea hearing on July 1st - July 12th directly with the presiding judge outside of his Federal appointed defense attorney. Yep. Exparte. Mr. Sanchez attorney Allison Clark used the 7/12/10 court date to file a motion to quit the case. They have subsequently worked through their differences and were scheduled to appear yesterday, but a 4th continuance in the case was granted to reschedule for October 7, 2010. In that motion, Ms. Clark asserts that Mr. Sanchez has been in custody the entire time but that his records are difficult to retrieve so more time to prepare for trial is necessary. I’ll say.

Up until a few weeks ago, she was also very much the object of accusation by Desiree Young and Kaine Horman, as well as the investigators assigned to Kyron’s case. So much so, they released a flyer featuring the ginger ladies and the infamous white truck. LE has subsequently backed off of Spicher and publicly stated they do not believe it was her in the white truck in the lot of the Skyline School. Dede’s father is a semi-retired Klamath County Sheriff deputy. If it can be confirmed Spicher knew Kyron was missing on June 4th we have a very big problem.

Michael Cook
The source of both information for the contempt filing and hundreds of sexts exchanged between he and Terri Horman following Kaine Horman’s filing for divorce and leaving the marital residence as advised by MCSO, Michael Cook was a high school classmate of Kaine Horman.
Mr. Cook is also one smarmy dude if his former spouse Shannon has anything to say about it.
Oddly, blinkoncrime.com has learned from an inside source that Cook was not called before the grand jury to testify. In the instant action for contempt, Kaine Horman’s attorney Laura Rackner specifically references the “sexting” and the text regarding Houze’s fee as information provided by law enforcement.
So, was he acting as an agent for le or is he himself under investigation?
Jason Wishert
William Jason Wishert is undoubtedly wishing he had not interjected himself in this case. Apparently new to the blogosphere via a request from Maxine Bernstein of the Oregonian, Mr. Wishert took to what he saw as his *nuveau*cause*celeb* status with moxy.
That was until he announced his appearance on the scaredmonkeys.net forum to answer questions about the case and cry the blues when he accused the Oregonian of using his rough notes to skewer Dede Spicher. According to Wishert the “not a lot of kissing but plenty of telling” memo was not supposed to be published. About 3 minutes into his introduction to his “sleuthing public” Wishert was asked why he spelled his name incorrectly and if he was indeed the son of convicted child porn possessor William Kent Wishart. In a really bad move, Mr. Wishert denied the allegation and retreated with his tail somewhere on his person.
Kent Wishart, former CEO of Graphic Sciences, is in Federal Custody for the next 4 years for possession of child porn and engaging in a file sharing subscription for same. Jason’s brother Grant is an employee of GS. All three Wishert’s hold numerous active and inactive business licenses throughout Oregon and Washington. Graphic Sciences has a Mexican affiliate office.
Both Jason and his brother James Grant have had numerous legal entanglements (editor’s note: say it just like Chief Margie with the flat “a”) and our attempts to substantiate Jason’s claims about court appointed child advocacy certifications have yet to be confirmed.
However, with his Uncle John Kerr, Jason Wishert is heavily involved in the Friends of Pimpollo Charity which sponsors various children issues and an orphanage in Mexico. FOP is a verified charity with a 50% tax deduction rate according to IRS Publication 78 in good standing, but they are years behind in their annual reporting.

Today, Kyron Horman’s eigth birthday, may not bring us any closer to where our frog prince is, but we do wish to extend our thoughts and prayers in celebration of his special day to his parents, friends and family. My thought, exactly. It would make sense to hire someone in the landscaping business to bring a lot of the materials in. I assume landscapers get a discounted rate on mulch/topsoil/gravel/plant-material from the suppliers they are associated with. I don’t know how much that would be but, in my business I get 20-50% off retail from my suppliers.
A pickup bed holds @ 3 yards of material. Mulches & topsoil are $30-$50/yard for me (a nonprofessional gardner). Rudy could have “volunteered” his time to the project, kept 1/2 of the difference between retail and wholesale and still made a days “wage”, so to speak. And the school garden project would still be getting the materials for less than if they purchased them and hauled them in their own trucks. Win-win.

When I researched this before I did not find a landscaper’s license for Rudy Sanchez. I thought we had come to the conclusion that he only does landscape maintenance as the name of his business indicates.
If he was doing work on this project as an unlicensed contractor, he and whoever hired him should have known better, and paying some fines (at the least) would be required. I’m posting this link again to show how Oregon determines the licensing requirements. I think it’s pretty clear which is which. This is why I have been so curious about what RS actually did at the school and who approved hiring him.

There is a picture of Jaime Estrada on the list of Board members now. I copied it and the picture of him from his Clean Factor website, and the picture of Anselmo, and the Rudy picture from Blink all onto a Word doc page to compare – just to see the family resemblance, if any. Newsatfive, I believe wholeheartedly that “disappeared Kyron” is merely a slang term and nothing should be inferred from it. To me, it’s just something someone said that took flight way before the Kyron case. I’ve heard it many times before this, and probably have used it myself even though I prefer using proper English.

Hi CC: In my years of working in and around the criminal justice system I have heard LE use “disappeared” in the same manner (e.g. “The perp disappeared Jane Doe that night.”), particularly when they were not sure if the victim was lured, snatched, and so on. So, I would agree, CC, that we should infer nothing.

Not entirely true. People with b/g checks can be alone with children. People without b/g can still be in the building with children but only supervised.

The Skyline principal wrote in an email to parents “…All of our volunteers have been background checked. These volunteers are able to be alone with children in the building. Visitors on the other hand are not to be alone with children in school unsupervised…”
Personally, I think everybody in the classroom or building should have a b/g check.
This may be me being overly picky about this, but Rudy Sanchez is not a landscaper. His company does landscape maintenance. To me that means he has a bunch of mowers, leaf blowers, weed eaters, garbage bags and a couple edgers. If they are really fancy, they may trim bushes and hedges. The likeness of he and his crew are seen at every apartment complex, office park, McDonalds, Taco Bell, etc. in the Portland area. Very different from a landscape contractor who would have access to discounts at nurseries and hardware stores. You can’t get a contractor discount unless you are a licensed contractor.

This leads me back to a thought that pops into my mind regularly – someone connected Rudy’s business with the school project. (I doubt if he could afford to be a volunteer and still earn a living, but I suppose it’s possible.)

Agree. One of the classrooms upstairs (in between the office and Ky’s classroom) had electrical displays. That would be more likely IMO.

Thank you neighbor! That’s such important information. I agree, given this information, that Kyron was probably talking about something in that room. And now what happened afterwards, and how he left the school, is a big blank for me. I guess other students probably saw him in the hall, and saw him in the room with the electrical exhibits, and yes, that LE knows much more about what happened than we can imagine.

While I studied Blinks comments related to the stranger in the photo and the Mayor’s only comment on the case, I am AMAZED how this comment truly escaped ME of all people!! I did not come to any sort of conclusion. And yes, I have heard quite a bit about Portland’s “Mayor.”

I always took this to mean that she led him on sexually. That he didn’t intend to carry out the plot, but he thought if he continued with her long enough he would get sex. Perhaps he was only getting sexts, and promises.
Is there anyone from Intel,that works with Kaine, that has children at Skyview? What about that lady friend that was mentioned who worked with Kaine? Does she have children? What ages? Is she married?
And one more thing…whats up with that John Deere tractor that was in the facebook photo album? Was that also in the June album, the one with the picture of James with the horse? Can any one link that album up any more or is it locked? It seems every picture in that album will eventually add up to something. Just thoughts running through my head.

The abductor would have had to have known that there was a Science Fair, the time of the fair, the time the bells would ring, when the tours would start, where the different displays would be, when class would start, when the halls would be empty and when they would be full, when the parents would leave and by which exit(s), which door Kyron would leave from, where Kyron’s classroom was, the fact that there were no cameras anywhere, where the truck should be parked to avoid sight-lines from classrooms but still be near a certain exit, and probably a dozen more things I haven’t thought of. For a stranger to have gone in there on that day and grabbed a kid would have been beyond stupid…it would have been courting disaster. Just this knowledge reduces the pool considerably…
The second subject the perp had to have known well and deeply was Kyron. He/she had to have known the best way to get Kyron out of the building without raising the suspicions of others or of Kyron himself. This, of course, narrows the pool even further and, if you add in motive, there is really only one name that comes up…
You may not be able to pinpoint Terri’s exact motive from among many possibilities but you can be pretty sure that no one else who fits the above criteria would have had any motive at all.”
If anyone can think of another possible perp who fits the criteria above i.e. is trusted by Kyron and has inside knowledge of the school, please tell me who. If you don’t think the perp needed to fit the criteria above to accomplish this crime, then please tell me how else it could have been done.

Dee, I so agree with you. The perpetrator took a HUGE risk in abducting Kyron from the school. So, I believe the fact that Ky was taken from the school in broad daylight is an important clue as to who was involved. There were so many ways for that plot to fail, so many opportunities for the “luring away” to be observed by others, unless of course Ky was with someone who would not raise any red flags. I keep going back to this question? Which person is so intimately involved with Kyron that s/he could get him out of the building without raising suspicion? To me, this abduction/luring away was all about blending in and being “invisible” in plain sight.
I just thought of another possible *theory* after reading the detective’s thoughts. What if TMH gently lured Kyron out to the truck by telling him he had a doctor’s appointment and proceeded to drive to FM. She parked, unbuckled Kiara, and asked Ky to stay in the truck while she ran in and picked up Kiara’s meds. While she was in the store, the perp drove up and abducted Ky from their truck. This would be a “clean” abduction with far fewer witnesses in my opinion. In my area it seems like at least half or our abductions are in parking lots or city streets. Just mooooooo.
Dee, I have no doubt whatsoever that LE has the suspects in their cross hairs and are doing all they can to bring these monsters to justice.

This is the way it is. Always, when I study something intense, it requires a day of rest for my brain to assimilate the information. It processes in the night. That is way, crash studying really does not work …not for me anyway.
When I read Blink’s initial comments on the Mayor’s limited response on Kyron, it did not really resonate — perhaps largely because I was already processing a boat-load of opposite information. The very funny part is, I questioned the powers that be in the very beginning. And after sleeping on Blink’s statement, coupled with Newsatfive’s input……oh yes, why Mayor. Why comment on that one and only solitary man in the photo of potential opportunists to dismiss? Boots? Anyone?
I get the feeling that is all I need to know.

Hi S. I don’t think it’s picky and I have had the same reaction to his status as a “landscaper” all along. He’s landscape maintanance.
We do know from customer reviews on ServiceMagic that he does planting (including shrubs & trees) and mulching & bed maintanance aside from mowing. All of which still is within the guidelines for landscape maintanance.
I do though differ with your point about him being unable to get materials discounts because he is not a licensed landscape contractor. Perveyors of topsoil, mulch, gravel and plant material are not restricted by law or regulation as to who they may offer discounts. Rudy is in business and is registered with the state. I’m pretty sure he buys lots of landscape materials and that he gets them at wholesale rates.
Is it possible that Rudy uses the landscape business as a front? is he a drug dealer? Does he use a gym? Could Dede and Terri have been using him as a contact person? And it all went bad the morning Kyron disappeared?

Good eye for detail on the article about the Sanchez children. Oregon DHS lists Child Protective Services. How can that department keep LE from making a comment on the case and was CPS involved prior to their disappearance? (Every time a question is answered, two more pop up).

I do think the picture of RS posted in this article could be him going to or leaving the GJ. He does not look like a man under arrest, but maybe there is a sealed indictment. IDK.

The first I heard of this was TH’s released email dating back to June 5th. She does not state she saw the chaperon and the two girls, but implies that someone else did. No one else to my knowledge has publicly corroborated TH on this. Only LE knows for sure.

PPS Facilities and Assets from what I read, are also in charge of custodians, cafeteria workers and trade personnel. My understanding is if RS was hired by the PPS, he would have been a union worker placed by the Facilities and Assets Department. If RS Landscape and Maintenance was hired they would have bid on the work and would have had to be approved through the school board officailly. If RS was part of a volunteer project (of which he or his company could have been paid by the grant money), then I am thinking, like you, that someone brought him in to that circle.

I have several contacts, but I’m sorry I cannot ask. I do not want to risk my state certification or my approval as a foster parent. However, if a child were a ward of the state, I have seen that included in news articles if the child is missing. So they do have the choice to release certain information if it is deemed appropriate.
It is possible that the children were not wards of the state when first reported and DHS was involved in some other way. For example, if there were reports of possible child abuse or neglect and an investigation was begun, Elsy might have taken them as soon as she thought she might lose them or something might come out in the investigation that she didn’t want known. If there are no visible signs of physical abuse or gross neglect, Oregon will usually begin with family services in the home to try to assess and correct the situation and connect the family with additional resources. If someone ran from an investigation like that, DHS would then go to court and ask for temporary custody right away because failure to cooperate with a DHS investigation is one of the factors that raises alarms – it is presumed you may have something to hide, putting the children’s safety in question.
It’s also possible that Elsy was allowing the children contact with a person DHS designated as unsafe and was told to stop or DHS would pursue more authority over the kids. There are so many possibilities – hopefully, they are safe.
I doubt if anyone will share more specific information unless DHS and the police believe it will lead to finding them.

I’m a teacher in Oregon and have been so for 34 years.
The “meetings” teachers attend are mandated by the state (and increasingly by the feds), as a teacher’s license cannot be renewed without a certain number of staff-development hours. Therefore, TSPC (Oregon’s teacher licensing bureau) and the districts work together to ensure the required state-mandated staff development hours are offered. These generally take place on staff-development days where students do not attend.
Teacher attendance at meetings where subs are needed almost always take place at the request of the administration. Any good teacher hates to miss class days, as quality lesson plans must be prepared for the sub prior to the absence and the work-load upon return is horrendous – possibly involving re-teaching, following up with increased behavior issues, falling behind in grading, communications with parents, etc.
In our district, the parents have overwhelmingly and consistently supported holding parent/teacher conferences (even with the student days off), which is why we continue them. In fact, last month over 85% of parents in our school recommended continuation of these conferences. The number of days allowed for said conferences depends, in large part, on the total number of students/conferences scheduled and correlating preparation time to prepare for each (very time consuming if done well).
In addition, preparing report cards and preparing for the new courses at the end of each grading period is much more time consuming than the single day allotted.

Does Oregon have a landscape or nursery products endorsement for business licenses? In states where such endorsements are offered, they can oftentimes be quite inexpensive yet allow the holder of the endorsement to receive a landscaper discount on nursery, landscape, and floral materials.
IMHO landscape maintenance is a great way for an illegal to obtain employment. It doesn’t require much (if any) documentation, and it’s not on the feds radar for regulation and/or scrutiny as to the nature of the employment and/or income. MOO.

I said I would let you know so we could try and do a family thing together and I won’t forget, Sorry I missed Danny sure would of loved to of seen him let him know I missed him and love him! Neighbor@11:37pm- The “words/statement” was from a post earlier up thread that Beejay re-posted from PPS on volunteers etc. My post was it is “easy” to get around the rules if someone was intent on being involved in the project/ meet Kyron/school etc. This whole inquiry into “who” took K & “how” did they come to know him enough to trust &follow “directions” to leave the school is mind boggling. We give schools such a blanket of confidence & trust w/our child(ren) but truly there is many, many ways someone intent on harm to child(ren) could exploit the situation. I had never saw/ thought about the amount of strangers a child could come into contact w/i a school. I am not alone in the saying “schools are safe” BUT only in the degree you really know the people. Look @ the Boy Scouts or USA Swimming. These groups/organizations had great public trust & it is only recently the truth of abuse has been revealed. People intent on no good find a way.
Not only does KH & TMH have a court date TODAY but so does AS-S… Unless they all have asked for postponements.
@MockingbirdSings: I would hope schools would NOT give out that info. either. But personal contacts who trust each other often share info. Failing rounding up somebody who knows somebody, or feet on the pavement snooping, then we’ll just have to wait and read about it in the papers. Or at BOC, somewhat in advance of that. Frustrating, but we can only research things so far online.

@Graceinthehills – KY being taken while TH is in the FM I think might work. It gets KY away from school and many eyes to a more open place where not everyone around would recognize them. And if there was a note planted in her truck, in her plan it would explain why she was there. I just can’t figure out why she had 2 alibi’s though if there was a note (which I think she left in the truck when she got out). Why the medicine and the note?
I think if any LS was involved, and I don’t think they were at the school, this would be where they came in, at FM.
But if TH was on the outs with RS, why would she involve him in something this horrendous with consequences there would be no turning back from? If she watches any real crime TV shows, she knows the more people involved, the more likely one will squeal.
And being deported back to MX isn’t that big a deal around here, you can get right back in a short time.

The other thing that I kept rollin’ around in my head is something Blink said about why DY, who is married to a detective still has hope that Kyron was alive…that’s not a direct quote, but you get the idea. The only answer I could come up with is that DY must think someone from LE or LE family has him.
Thoughts and prayers are with Kyron, his brothers and sister.

Well, given MockingbirdSings posts, and my own thoughts, here’s my guess: LE is mute because they want to be and they’re using DHS involvement as the excuse. They don’t want the public prodding into the living situation/parentage of Elsy’s kids. Because it, and the kids’ disappearance is related to Ky’s.
My guess would be it is, in fact, the Protective Svs arm of DHS that has involvement with Elsy’s kids. (MOO)
This might be more important than just a clue as to who grabbed Ky. It could be that Elsy’s kids were targets of sex crimes as well as Ky (reminder to new readers: Blink has risked her reputation on the probability that Ky is the victim of a sex crime). (MOO)
How many times is the mother who leaves with her kids later found dead and her kids gone/dead as well? Not unusual. This would bring Ky and Elsy’s kids under the same umbrella with the bigger “concern” that Staton has for how we’re failing to protect our kids.

Also, Kim Holms assisted with coaching Kyrons soccer team. Did she also work in the office or anywhere else inside the school?

That is true Annals, however, I am not convinced that RS Landscape Maintenance would buy any materials for their customers. I think they are more of the ilk to perform the labor only, while a homeowner would be the purchaser of materials. I could be entirely wrong, but I just don’t see Rudy Sanchez as the type of businessman who had the credit or the cash to supply materials for any job.
Since contracts with public institutions are supposed to be public, I would think that Blinkniks would have discovered his relationship with PPS and/or Skyline, if it was official.

I have not heard of this specifically, however that does not mean it is not the case. At the same time, almost any nursery I have shopped has a list of “crews” they recommend if they do not have their own. It has not escaped me that when E-Verify took effect and certain industries were required to verify SSNs, there was a plethora of new business licenses registered in Oregon owned by those of Hispanic descent. Totally agree. Adams has a hard time being a part of or assisting in the resolution of anything important in Portland, e.g. gang problems, but usually has lots to say about peripheral issues, e.g. bike paths! It was actually surprising that he suddenly jumped in with information related to Kyron’s disappearance. Completely out of character for his office.
LOL, Your photo was far more exciting than mine beejay. I referenced photo #2 due to it’s landcleanup/volunteerism aspect. That and my wonderment of Blink’s reference to Satori being a smartie. Wonderment in general.

I don’t know anything about this. PPS spokesman has stated there were no subs that day and as much as I think those guys spin, I don’t think he would outright lie. Of course there were probably many, many parents that were there in the morning and left after the science fair.

Sorry, but I see no reason to drag Kim into this. But she did NOT help with his soccer team. She does help with many others.

I know this is old news but identifying the man seems to be an interest again.
