David Hartley Gunned Down On Jet Ski In Mexico : Tiffany Young-Hartley Facing Scrutiny
According
Hartley says her husband was shot in the head and as a result “flew” off his jet ski while the couple was returning from the landmark on the Mexican side of the lake, after taking pictures. She goes on to say she became aware of 3 different boats chasing down the couple only after she saw bullets hitting the water next to her. As she turned around to see where they were coming from, she claims she witnessed her husbands murder.
David was driving a new Sea Doo RXT ski that can climb from 0–30MPH in 1.7 seconds and is capable of top-end speeds of over 60 MPH. Blinkoncrime.com has not been able to confirm which model Ms. Hartley was driving. The couple had been on at least one earlier jet ski jaunt while still in Mexico, but was cut short due to a mishap with David’s craft on June 20th.
According to his wife, David was face-down in the water, wearing a life vest, after he was shot.
Despite the horror of what she had just witnessed and astonishingly avoiding injury to her or her watercraft, she circled back around, jumped off her jet ski, and turned her 250 lb. husband upright to observe the gunshot wound to his forehead. You read that correctly, according to Tiffany Hartley, while being chased from behind, David was shot from the front. Hartley maintains this is when she attempted to load him onto her jet ski, and also when two of the three boats were now positioned in front of her.
One of the alleged pirate boats from the front approached her within 10 ft. While she stared down the barrell of his gun, she was holding onto her husband with one hand, her ski with the other asking not to be shot. Apparently through some sort of Mexican telepathy or nautical sign language, the men who just ambushed the couple and murdered her husband in cold blood, made a decision to let her go and retreated IN FRONT OF HER.
Hartley claims she cannot identify any of the men, that they never said a word to her nor could she hear anything they may have said to each other, but believes the motive for the attack to be robbery or to kidnap her. It is not clear how Tiffany arrived at this conclusion as they never made an attempt to stop them or ask them for their money, she was off her $13,000 Sea doo they could have easily taken, and they let her go.
It was at this time that Hartley finally did hear something. She says she heard the voice of God tell her to leave David, save herself and get to safety. However, his instruction must have been non-specific because she proceeded to mount her ski in deep water, start it back up, and drive directly toward and then past the very band of gun weilding murderous cartel who minutes ago gunned down her highschool sweetheart and spouse of 8 years. (Editors note: I cannot imagine the nerve it takes to again have your back to the same crew who, unprovoked, sprayed the lake with bullets behind you while you were fleeing for your life).
While Tiffany admits the couple was aware of recent pirate activity in the area they learned about while David researched the location, she claims they had not heard of anymore incidents on Falcon Lake, which borders both Texas and Mexico, “in a while.”
The Hartley’s, who had recently been on a few tropical vacations, were in the process of relocating to Colorado next week from Reynosa, Mexico and McAllen Texas, where they had lived for only a few months, following David’s transfer request to Calfrac well services.
According to recent Facebook postings, although the couple could not agree on furniture tastes, they recently purchased a house full of it just after a luxury cruise and visit to a seminar for those experiencing financial difficulty.
I would love to be able to do no analysis and regergetate this story as reported by main stream media whereby not one reporter asks the obvious question:
After several known incidents of piracy in that location over the last months, why would the “pirates” suddenly go on a murderous rampage in lieu of attempting to rob a couple on jet skis that could outrun them on sight?
Not gonna happen. I have heard umpteen versions of Ms. Hartley’s version of events leading to the random execution of her husband.
None pass the smell test. However, just today, Zapata County Sheriff “Sigi” Gonzalez, Jr says his investigation, now aided by a witness who is a long standing member of the Zapata community, exonerates Mrs. Hartley of any wrongdoing.
Gonzalez completely rules out foul play on the part of Mrs. Hartley.
“A local witness saw Tiffany Hartley escaping on her jet-ski to the Texas side of the lake,” he said. “She came in at high speed and was being pursued by armed men in a Mexican fishing boat that that the witness clearly observed.”
Gonzalez said the witness was a long-standing member of the Zapata community who was well known to him and regarded as highly credible.
“The testimony of this witness dispels any idea Mrs. Hartley was involved in any wrongdoing regarding the murder of her husband,” he said firmly. “She called in a 911 phone call to our office at around 2:20 p.m. on the day of the incident, immediately after she got to shore, and her statements to my office confirm what the local witness observed.”
Unfortunately, the witness account does not match Tiffany Hartley’s own version of events. At no time has she ever said that she was again chased by the “pirates”, in fact, she claims she left them behind after driving “through” them.
Hartley references recent pirate activity, which is almost verbatim what she says happened to her and David, with the exception of the actual piracy:
On April 30, five people in two different boats were fishing on Falcon Lake and went to the Old Guerrero area, where they were taking photos of the old church. While they were there, a boat with four heavily tattooed men approached the two boats quickly. The men identified themselves as “Federales,” but they were not wearing uniforms. The men boarded the boats, demanded cash and asked “where are the drugs?” The fishermen told the men that they had no drugs and were just fishing and taking photos. They ended up giving the men $200 cash and left the area. The pirates followed the two boats, but the U.S. boats were able to outrun them and the men stopped following once the two boats entered U.S. waters.
In every recorded incident since April, the heavily tattoed pirates posing as “Federales” without uniforms, came upon anchored fishing boats, boarded them, robbed the fisherman at gunpoint of any personal cash, searched for drugs left without any violence. In the Hartley family interview on the Today show, Tiffany states that after David was hit, she circled around, jumped off her jetski, swam over to her husband and because he was “face down in the water” she had to turn him over where she discovered he was shot in the head.
It would seem I am not alone in my quagmire. Mexican Investigators, who hold jurisdiction have already begun to question Ms. Hartley’s story.
Marco Antonio Guerrero Carrizales, the district attorney for the Miguel Aleman Province adjoining Falcon Lake on the Mexican side, has questioned whether Tiffany Hartley was involved in foul play.
Early this morning, Sheriff Sigi Gonzalez announced the Mexican Authorities will be searching the area where David Hartley was murdered, and have committed to “not leaving” until they find him. Tiffany Hartley, accompanied by her parents, but without David’s, filed a missing person report at the Mexican Consulate last night as a matter of procedure to “get the ball rolling”.

@Graceinthehills:
Yes, everyone is in high alert down here. That is why when I heard that they even went on this jaunt my jaw dropped. My DH and I were watching TH(?!) on the news this morn and he even said “Oh, isn’t that a fancy tale?!”
~~~~~~~~~~~~
I know what you mean, LPB. When I first heard someone had been shot on a jet ski on the lake, I immediately thought pirates had crossed into U.S. waters, something of lot of us feared would eventually happen. I have been following the drug cartel violence around the border, and it is indeed alarming. I don’t think most people outside of Texas realize how dangerous our border area has become.
I do believe it is a highly dangerous situation. Nobody has to tell me it would be highly dangerous to skip around in downtown Camden/Trenton at night, and I would not take that risk even to see some of the sights. In fact, our fave pizza place, which is old school historical, has a police escort to your car when you leave, lol. It is what we refer to here in Jersey as a “joint”.
Is it fair, no. We should all be able to enjoy visiting wherever we choose, without fear.
That is not reality. I remain perplexed how this woman’s story was taken at face value. I can guarantee you that if it were David Hartley that came away from the incident, this would look different from the onset.
Interesting . . . .
“Perry had harsh words for reports that the Mexican government had raised doubt about Tiffany Hartley’s story.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I am not a fan of Governor “Hair”/former Aggie cheerleader…’er, Perry, but I have to agree with him on one thing: I would not believe anything the so-called Mexican government in that particular area has government officials is so high it is OFF THE SCALE. Some drug runner is probably having a grand old time on that fancy jet ski. In fact, the low life creeps “could” have shot him to take his jet ski.
Stranger things have happened down near the border…
If this poor man’s body is out there, someone needs to find him.
How in the world did my post get so jumbled? Good grief!
What I meant to say was: I would not believe anything the so-called Mexican government officials in that area have to say about this incident. I would trust them as far as I could throw them. The corruption in LE/government in the border areas is so high it is OFF THE SCALE. Many believe that the two warring drug cartels have successfully infiltrated local government.
Wow! Blink -you are brilliant! I had had a passing uneasy feeling about this developing story, but your article totally sucked me in and made me take BIG notice. Here are some of my thoughts/observations for the war room:
1. Early Show interview: When asked if they had any concerns about going out that day, she said, “No, we had no concerns whatsoever.” She then told Denver Post: “Before they went, however, they discussed what would happen if they were chased. They decided they would not take a chance of her getting kidnapped and their watercrafts stolen. “We decided if someone came after us, we were going to high-tail it out of there. We knew we could outrun them,” Tiffany Hartley said. Yet she told another source that “he would never, ever put me in a position of danger.”
http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=6928577n&tag=contentMain;contentBody
http://www.denverpost.com/news/ci_16238750?source=pkg
2. They weren’t just a few yards over the border -they were 3-5 MILES into Mexican waters, down in a cove-like part of the lake -see this map: http://www.tackleandrods.com/maps/bigmap.htm -Needless to say, this wasn’t some “quick little, “let’s sneak over.” It was miles on a jet ski! Among other questions, when she reports her story, she does not refer to any emotion or anything at all about what must have been a LONG and GRUELING trip back to US side. As well, btw, given the distance away, how is the family so sure if they (Mexican LE) are not out on the water or performing a search?
3. Did anyone notice how she went OUT OF HER WAY in a couple of the interviews to insist that “David loves history and did all this research about this church over on the Mexico side”, etc. She went on to say, “we decided we were going out there cuz we were [sic] moving back to Colorado.”
A) To me, her interviews seemed like an almost rehearsed script. –she frequently sort of , “corrected” herself as she spoke…backing up sentences…and the looking down and just tiny glances up to camera occasionally were odd.(The family seemed to make eye contact rather well). It also sounded awkward, imo, to include and emphasize such details about his love for history and the research he did about Old Guerrero, as well as their love for adventure, and “no fear!” B) They had lived in Reynosa, for 2.5 years (presumably legally on a Visa), and never thought once, for the love of history, to visit this place at any prior time, a place just 100 KM from their home, and perhaps the most history filled location in the area?? C) According to their FB pages, he(she) seemed to like a beach, margaritas by the pool, massages, and a cruise. Adventure items included: scuba diving, climbing a palm tree. All pretty, “canned” “guided tour” trips geared at ‘luxury’ R & R, not history or adventure. Nothing like the Mexican ruins, etc. There was a visit to Fort Jefferson, where 2 pics were taken, just to be fair.
4. @anotherB –Good thinking! How would he have been face down with the life vest on? Notice that she did not mention that she even attempted to put him in a recovery position and ‘drag’ him alongside the jet ski. In the water, she would have been able to accomplish that easily, despite the size difference. Any blood or bruises or scrapes documented as a result of trying to maneuver him up onto a jet ski? There would have been. And I do not know, but it is possible that jet skis hold rope of some sort in their storage…?
5. @Susebear…No wrath, I agree with you entirely –I have a hunch that her story was taken at face value at first, and no physical evidence was collected.(?) And no, she did not ever say he was dead –just that he was shot. And in the 911 call she just said, “yes. In the head.” (when asked if she was shot.) And even when explaining that she tried to pull him onto the jet ski, she did not used the words “dead, unconscious, etc.” In fact in one of the interviews, I noted that the family spoke of him in past tense, and Tiff did not.
6. She mentioned guns many times on various interviews -if it were me, who has no experience with guns, or even held one, I would use the terms ‘gun’ or ‘pistol’ to describe a small handheld -but likely these guys were outfitted with AK47′s, as Blink said, especially given her description of bullets hitting the water around her…. Why would she not say even once “they had machine guns.” I would have.
7. If they were returning from taking pictures, then the camera would or could have been placed into the watertight, removable storage bin or glove box…? So where are the pics? Oh, perhaps she can explain this by saying HE had the camera. –would be interested to know who was the one to usually take pics and carry the camera…
8. If the Mexican LE were the first to question it, I assume this is based on their direct knowledge of “pirate MO’s” imo. No stealing, no kidnapping -and, well hells bells, according to TYH, she never heard them mutter one word! Seems unlikely if the normal MO is to glean shiny cameras, wallets, jewelry , or even spiffy See-Doo RXT’s…?
Thanks so much for the article Blink!

Notice it said, “The couple, tired of the violence along the border, recently decided to move home, said Tiffany’s uncle.” That, coupled with VERY RECENT “High alert” warnings to Americans, they, at the same time chose to jet ski (very exposed) 3-5 miles over foreign waters, AND, she stated that David would never, ever put her in a position of danger…”
And, “The bullets stopped flying for a moment, and Tiffany turned back to David.” hmmm. The NINE pirates just let up to watch her come back and wrestle him onto her jet ski? -and AFTER they had chased and sprayed bullets all around them?

I was thinking the same thing. I don’t know many 30 year old couples, seemingly with no advanced degrees, who can afford the “luxury” type vacations they appear to take 3 times a year. And that doesn’t even include trips back home to Colorado to see family. Cha-ching!
Feels to me that money is at the heart of this. It could be faked death for financial gain. Or drug deal/smuggling gone bad. But I was thinking about the Tri Energy Inc. ponzi scheme where the company represented itself as a coal mining owner, but in fact was sucking in church-going people who were on shaky financial ground to invest (and lose)…This couple went to church AND also showed up at the Dave Ramsey seminar (what 2 perfect places to find new victims to invest!) I wonder if that Calfrac well services company is legit. I did notice that they have all these legal disclaimer pop ups when you go to their website, and they do seem to have a strong investor emphasis on their website…. just a thought.
I looked at her facebook profile and could see some of her pictures. Her body language with him looks very good. She’s always turned toward him etc… She certainly had to let people know that he had be shot IN THE HEAD didn’t she? Instead of saying, I turned and got the heck outta there. Something stinks with her story, however, I’m on the fence as to whether it’s her or her and him that masterminded this. Of course, of there was a body, I would have my answer. I’m just not buying what she’s selling which is weird for me. I tend to believe people.
I didn’t buy this lady’s story from the first time I heard it. Her voice in the 911 call by itself doesn’t sound right.
I know I probably shouldn’t bring up politics in this case. It always seems to get me in trouble. But this couple is known to have strong right wing political leanings. And with the current political climate, especially when it comes to Mexican border patrol, it’s a hot button topic right now. This case might not be motivated by politics, but it could have been an influence.
And there are other recent questionable cases of violence at the border. Here is a link to a recent occurrence of violence at the Arizona border: http://www.phoenixnewtimes.com/2010-10-07/news/pinal-county-sheriff-paul-babeu-goes-on-the-defensive-in-a-desperate-attempt-to-save-his-and-deputy-louie-puroll-s-reputations/
This lady’s story just bugs me the more I read about it and listen to her talk about it. In the Today show story and interview, they say that he was shot in the back of the head, but when Tiffany describes to Meridith Vierra what happened, she points to her forehead and says that she rolled him over and he was shot in the head.
Make up your mind lady!
And why would these ruthless pirates let a defenseless young lady riding on her expensive toy, get away? So she could identify the killers?!
Grrr!
Just an fyi his ski will not work without his lanyard without a factory reset. If this happened the way she says, they will both be in that water.
B
I thought when I first heard it “How stupid is that!?”
Of course Perry has jumped into this with both feet. I do hope it all blows up in his face. I want to see the backpedaling.
None of this story makes any sense. Pirates that shoot to kill first? They don’t grab the jetskis that they just killed an American for? They don’t think Texas will be all over this,with the election and all?
Oh PLEASE let this all go to hell and Perry have to backtrack.
@Zinnia, I am on that political page as well. Interesting timing.
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/2010/1007/Why-Mexican-pirates-are-targeting-US-tourists-on-Falcon-Lake
What I cannot figure out, is if she states that he was killed in the Mexico side, why is she laying this wreath in the US territory?
What I find strange is on David’s Facebook on September 8th he posts “Thanks for all the birthday wishes”. But there are not birthday wishes posted…..how did they get deleted?
Yep.
His pic has also changed 2x since he was allegedly murdered as well.
B
I don’t exactly know why this statement bothers me so much, but when she answers Meridith Vierra’s question about responding to Mexican authorities doubts about her story, Tiffany says, “When you’re looking at the end of the barrel of a gun and wondering if your family will ever know what happened…”, “His mom knew we were there, but it’s not anything for David not to call her for a few days.” What does that have to do with anything that had just happened to David?!
That statement by itself doesn’t incriminate her, neccesarily, but to me it sounds like she really planned and rehearsed that statement. And I understand the phenomenon of your life flashing before your eyes in a traumatic situation, but really, was she actually thinking those thoughts at that time, if it really happened that way? (not!)
It just reeks of premeditation to me, for some reason.
Perry is up for reelection. Doesn’t seem like a good move to put all his faith in this without ANY evidence, except the girl’s story. Its a bad move that he thinks will win people over in November. Uhoh. No thanks, not a fan of his anyways. MOO.
I have watched this woman’s interviews several times. Not a technical analysis, but I just cannot buy her story. My gut tells me she is lying.
Blink, I do not think they will find another skido. I think they rode out together. JMO. She def researched her story, and says so herself when she said they had heard and read about pirate activity, just not recently. The whole thing sounds like a intro to a new episode of Snapped if you ask me. If you have time please visit a wesite I like called Statement Analysis by Peter Hyatt.
http://seamusoriley.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html
I hope the proper authorities start askin the right questions, and try to get her to take a poly. I am sure she would fail. I also agree with you about the Sherriff clearing her because of the boarder issue and the election coming up. Cant wait for another article by you on this. Keep us posted!
I saw a video interview where the grieving Tiffany is responding to a reporter, and suddenly she gets way off track in her answer and and just blurts out…
‘and it’s not unusual for David not to call his mother for a couple of days’
Does anyone recall seeing that interview? I’d like to hear it again but Tiffy has been so busy making appearances and doing live interviews that there are so many interviews to go through.
Based on that, I think this was a planned disappearance and David is holed up somewhere in Mexico living la vida loca.
ok.. I know Zinnias response wasn’t there when I posted mine. Really.
anyhoo.. Zinnia, do you have that link?
Compare Tiffany Hartley’s actions to those of Desiree Young who wasn’t being chased by pirates for miles on a lake while being shot at. Night and day!
I hate to say this because I feel for the family but to have a memorial so soon without the body…..but maybe it was to keep the media interested.
I detest that if this man was killed by his wife or that both of them are in on it; that politics and emotions are keeping this case from being investigated properly.
And why did it take a week to file a complaint?
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/2010/1006/Mexico-Probe-into-Falcon-Lake-killing-delayed-by-Tiffany-Hartley-s-missing-complaint
The family claims to be upset with Mexican authorities for not doing enough to find the body. The Mexican authorities retort with the fact that Ms. Hartley has yet to come down and file a formal incident report in Mexico. Mexico says they can’t start a formal investigation without it.
http://www.csmonitor.com/World/Americas/2010/1006/Mexico-Probe-into-Falcon-Lake-killing-delayed-by-Tiffany-Hartley-s-missing-complaint
Another thing- If she did want him dead to collect insurance, she needs them to find a body. Insurance won’t pay out without a body and death certificate.
She filed a complaint, 2 days ago at the Mexican Consulate. They began searching for David the next day, and according to them, and Sheriff Gonzalez, they are not stopping till they find him.

The US Fish and Wildlife boats that took them out can not legally go into Mexican territory. The US can’t even search for the body in Mexican waters at this time without a special agreement which at this time they do not have.
Crickett- that is incorrect. Sheriff Gonzalez was invited to participate in the search, with Mexican authorities to locate David Hartley, he declined.
B
Could this have been a drug deal gone bad?
http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2010/10/06/wendy-murphy-mexico-texas-tiffany-hartley-pirates-lake-jet-ski-shot-head-god/
Well – don’t usually expect to see anything like this on Fox – even though it is an opinion piece, it’s pretty interesting that lots of people are seeing this as “not quite right”.
I am pretty sure we opened the flood gates on this, I really wish the sheriff did not come out swinging like he did. When he said he immediately believed her because she was distraught, when I have yet to see her shed a tear, I got nervous.
B
I wondered about this story too… I’m on the fence, one leg is hanging on the side that she is telling 100% of the truth, the other leg is hanging on the side saying hmmmm, sounds a little fishy fish, she either killed him or he is faking his death for financial gain. I think I remember that reading that he was in the oil business…. hmmm, just makes you wonder. Guess we’ll all know soon if LE gets to digging around a little more.
Quoting B….
Crickett- that is incorrect. Sheriff Gonzalez was invited to participate in the search, with Mexican authorities to locate David Hartley, he declined.
B
Here’s the link Crickett. The sheriff said it’s too dangerous to go there.
or so he says. I wonder if he’s on the take.
http://tpmmuckraker.talkingpointsmemo.com/2010/10/tx_sheriff_declined_invite_to_help_with_search_for.php
Can we use caution when making a statement like that please Lori D?
It is a fair question, I just want to keep our heads.
That said, he came out swinging, they obliged and he declined assisstance does not sit well with me.
B
There were shots fired at a rafting party on the river not too long ago.. Still,lots of holes in this story

Madilu, IMO, it would be entirely possible for this to have been a drug smuggling deal/contact that went wrong. Although if this were the case, my husband tells me they would have probably shot the wife as well. DH says almost anything is possible in that area, but he is not buying her story either.
Here’s a link to the San Antonio Express which details what little effort the Mexican government is putting into this search:
http://www.mysanantonio.com/news/mexico_said_to_intensify_search_for_man_missing_on_border_lake_104436949.html
If someone murdered your husband in cold blood and got within 10 feet of you, do you think you might be able to describe them at least in a general way?
I admit a possible deal gone bad is a possibility we cannot exclude.
B
This story bothered me big time when I first heard it & more so after watching the wife being interviewed on tv.. Not sure if its a cross between the Balloon Boy story or the ones that always blame it on the ‘men with black skin’..
Hard to understand this type of ‘at sea’ crime without something more than a jet ski being stolen & a witness being allowed to escape.. What happened to ‘show me the money’..
Perhaps I’m too cynical in my old age but a complete background check on this couple needs to be conducted before they start a national incident & once again accuse the wrong person(s)..
With you 100% nana, that is all I am asking for- same investigation of any mp where a spouse alleges a murder.
B
What is her motive if she killed her husband? Was his life insured?
There has to be a motive doesnt there?
Just thought of something. The sea doo model he has may have a chip in both the starter and his lanyard.
I am thinking it may constitute an FCC code they could track for a frequency.
B
Just saw this comment…Not sure if this was posted, but did they find his lanyard? Did the wife even mention the lanyard. Have they tracked for a frequency?
Never even thought they could be in on it together. They did just buy a new house, furniture, attend a class for financial difficulties. Could all be a coinkydink BUT!!!
Lori D, sorry for not posting a link to my quote and comment. I didn’t have a link. It was from the Blink article shown above in the Today show video. The quote is towards the end of the interview piece at about 8:05.
I’m also scratching my head about the sheriff’s immediate trust in Tiffany’s story. And also, I am really puzzled by the lack of questioning by some of the news media that I have seen. On Nancy Grace from October 5, Nancy totally buys Tiffany’s story. I can understand someone like Nancy Grace being a strong victim’s advocate, but how could she not question the story at all? And she says she resents LE questioning Tiffany’s story. Here are the transcripts from that show: http://www.livedash.com/transcript/nancy_grace/5100/HLN/Tuesday_October_5_2010/313893/
Maybe I’m totally wrong, and I have no problem admitting that if I am, but I don’t think I am.
Nancy is a lovely lady.
She does none of her own research, and unless there is a picture of this woman in cuffs, do not expect her to be first to question her story.
I have to give Greta her props for her interview of Hartley.
In my opinion, it is hands down the best preparation and attempt to get at the truth that resulted in her own astonishment at some of the answers. Her facial expression when she learned the boats were in FRONT of her, is priceless.
http://gretawire.blogs.foxnews.com/tiffany-hartley-on-the-record/
Tiffany said “God told her to leave”? Could she have asked God
for a few more minutes? I would never have left anyone like that
and blame poor God.
There is supposedly, a credible witness to seeing the boats, what
puzzles me is the fisherman did not hear any gun shots.
someone got paid …
I too was a little puzzled by the Sheriff declining assistance.. Wouldn’t the US Coast Guard have a dog in this race since its the USCG’s primary function to guard the shores..
If hubby had on a life/flotation jacket at the time of the incident his body should have stayed afloat..
“There is supposedly, a credible witness to seeing the boats, what
puzzles me is the fisherman did not hear any gun shots.”
The witness says he saw one boat, a commercial fishing boat.
Chasing her on the US side, which conflicts with her statement entirely.
B
Couple of thoughts came to my mind immediately…
Sounds like they were spending a lot of money recently (Housefull of furniture, moving a lot, cruises etc)
How much in debt were they? Could David have “faked” his own death to get out of personal financial trouble?
Could they possibly NOT be in financial trouble but involved in illegal activity with the drug cartels and something went bad? Possibly the drug dealers DID in fact kill her husband in front of her or take him for some reason? I continue to be bothered by the fact that I have heard from multiple news sources that she’s insisting the pirates might “have him”. Why would the pirates have him with a big fat hole in his forhead? Can you verify if she has said this blink? If he was the major player it is much more likely that they would in fact let her go and her scenario would make more sense.
The fact that the Mexican sheriff is saying a Zapata confirmed that she is not involved leads me to question even more if the couple had some sort of relationship with the drug cartel.
Sorry this got left out…
I just don’t think she’s capable of pulling off something so complicated as researching a lake with reports of mexican pirates, convincing her husband to go look at some underwater church there, shoot him, and then ride back with no sign of the body or jet ski. My impression of her is that she doesn’t have the intelligence or cunning needed to pull that off if she can’t even figure out that someone being shot in the front of the head from behind is difficult for most sharpshooters.
Blink, it wasn’t my intent to say anything negative about Nancy Grace. She does seem like a lovely person. But it just puzzles me that someone with her intelligence and experience could totally buy into this story. But hey, what do I know?! I could be totally wrong.
I am curious- If bullets were flying next to her would her Sea Doo by chance have gunshot residue on it?
Also, if the “pirates” were using AK-47′s what are the chances that they would only have it set up to fire once and not on the automatic setting? The reason I ask is that from her story it sounds like LOTS of bullets were flying towards them which would lead me to believe it was on the automatic setting. If it were on the automatic setting it surprises me to think that her husband only got one single shot to the head and that the Sea Doo didn’t have any damage to it- or no damage that she mentions.
Here is yet another variation. She says in this one they approached them from the front initially.
O, and now it is couple hundred yards was the closest they got to them.
Really? Then I am going to flat out call her a liar. It is out of range for that weapon.
This is pissing me off by the minute.

The reason one uses an AK 47 is because they are not concerned about accuracy, it is about hitting enough of your target to “stop” it.
Mark my words, she will have a lawyer and clam up by Monday.

What I find strange is on David’s Facebook on September 8th he posts “Thanks for all the birthday wishes”. But there are not birthday wishes posted…..how did they get deleted?

There is a privacy setting on FB where you can set so that what OTHERS WRITE is private…i.e. He had HIS “Posts by me” wall posts set to ‘Everyone’, but ‘friends wall posts’ (Can see Wall posts by friends) were set to be viewed by “friends only.” These feature is in the Account/privacy/sharing on Facebook/customize …I think this is prolly the case here, often an oversight on the part of the user.

@Madilu – Thank you very much! I learned something new! :}
Sure sounds like Americans need to stop going out to take pictures of the “old Mexican church” on the wrong side of the lake. From a national article in late May:

*blinking eyelids*
I am realizing the story is fishy. But would it be possible that he turned on his ski or he turned his body on his ski to look behind and was then shot in the head.
Is it possible they set up the entire story for him to escape from something going on in there lives or just to hide so she can collect the insurance.
Wonder if she will eventually move to some foreigen place to maybe be reunited with him.
In this day and age anything is possible.
Did they get to the church to take pictures and where is the camera
Watching Blink’s Greta link.
Why is there no body? I can’t get past this. Tiffany had contact with her husband’s body. He’s wearing a life vest. She says…please don’t shoot. The pirates leave without any ‘booty’. <—- We know that's a blatant lie. Why would she lie about that…and how on earth would someone know 2 shots were fired beside them. MY WORD…I'd be too hysterical to even count!!!!!! Why not 3 shots? 4?
Next, she HAD to leave David behind. Why? God told her. God is always the scapegoat. She had a choice. She choose to jetty on out. NO WAY IN HELL WOULD I LEAVE MY HUSBAND BEHIND. I've never been accused of thinking 'normally' but I know I would not give it a second thought to get my disabled husband out of danger…shot dead or not!
If she went for help, surely his body would still be in the vacinity??????? I'm still not sure if this is a 'scam' by the couple. The sister in laws appears hell bent on believing Tiffany. My hinky isn't off the charts about her, but something is off with the sister, imho.
COME ON! If help was initiated the moment she got to shore, his body would have been retrieved? Am I crazy to think this?

________
She may not be, but I sure think it’s plausible that somebody she knows is.
I have some questions that I haven’t seen an answer to yet.
How did they get to the lake? They must have had a vehicle with a trailer to tow those heavy jet skis.
Where is that vehicle?
Where did they park to put the jet ski’s in the water? Did they put them in the water from a dock? Any witnesses to that?
Who physically got those jet skis into the water. They’re heavy. Did they have help? Could David have gotten the skis into the water by himself? She doesn’t look like she’d be much help.
It pisses me off too Blink.

Is she chewing gum during the interview or a strange twitch?
around 2:25:”I would never even think about hurting my husband,” (chew chew) “For what reason, for what reason would I do anything” (chew)
“I loved him” (chew then glance down left). Not a very convincing demeanor.
Great catch, I meant to point that out earlier. Exactly.
