David Hartley Gunned Down On Jet Ski In Mexico : Tiffany Young-Hartley Facing Scrutiny
According to his wife, Tiffany Young-Hartley, who called 911, David Hartley, 30, was gunned down by Mexican pirates while the couple ventured across the Falcon Resovior lakes US border to take pictures of the “Mexican Atlantis” or Old Guerreo.
Hartley says her husband was shot in the head and as a result “flew” off his jet ski while the couple was returning from the landmark on the Mexican side of the lake, after taking pictures. She goes on to say she became aware of 3 different boats chasing down the couple only after she saw bullets hitting the water next to her. As she turned around to see where they were coming from, she claims she witnessed her husbands murder.
David was driving a new Sea Doo RXT ski that can climb from 0–30MPH in 1.7 seconds and is capable of top-end speeds of over 60 MPH. Blinkoncrime.com has not been able to confirm which model Ms. Hartley was driving. The couple had been on at least one earlier jet ski jaunt while still in Mexico, but was cut short due to a mishap with David’s craft on June 20th.
According to his wife, David was face-down in the water, wearing a life vest, after he was shot.
Despite the horror of what she had just witnessed and astonishingly avoiding injury to her or her watercraft, she circled back around, jumped off her jet ski, and turned her 250 lb. husband upright to observe the gunshot wound to his forehead. You read that correctly, according to Tiffany Hartley, while being chased from behind, David was shot from the front. Hartley maintains this is when she attempted to load him onto her jet ski, and also when two of the three boats were now positioned in front of her.
One of the alleged pirate boats from the front approached her within 10 ft. While she stared down the barrell of his gun, she was holding onto her husband with one hand, her ski with the other asking not to be shot. Apparently through some sort of Mexican telepathy or nautical sign language, the men who just ambushed the couple and murdered her husband in cold blood, made a decision to let her go and retreated IN FRONT OF HER.
Hartley claims she cannot identify any of the men, that they never said a word to her nor could she hear anything they may have said to each other, but believes the motive for the attack to be robbery or to kidnap her. It is not clear how Tiffany arrived at this conclusion as they never made an attempt to stop them or ask them for their money, she was off her $13,000 Sea doo they could have easily taken, and they let her go.
It was at this time that Hartley finally did hear something. She says she heard the voice of God tell her to leave David, save herself and get to safety. However, his instruction must have been non-specific because she proceeded to mount her ski in deep water, start it back up, and drive directly toward and then past the very band of gun weilding murderous cartel who minutes ago gunned down her highschool sweetheart and spouse of 8 years. (Editors note: I cannot imagine the nerve it takes to again have your back to the same crew who, unprovoked, sprayed the lake with bullets behind you while you were fleeing for your life).
While Tiffany admits the couple was aware of recent pirate activity in the area they learned about while David researched the location, she claims they had not heard of anymore incidents on Falcon Lake, which borders both Texas and Mexico, “in a while.”
The Hartley’s, who had recently been on a few tropical vacations, were in the process of relocating to Colorado next week from Reynosa, Mexico and McAllen Texas, where they had lived for only a few months, following David’s transfer request to Calfrac well services.
According to recent Facebook postings, although the couple could not agree on furniture tastes, they recently purchased a house full of it just after a luxury cruise and visit to a seminar for those experiencing financial difficulty.
I would love to be able to do no analysis and regergetate this story as reported by main stream media whereby not one reporter asks the obvious question:
After several known incidents of piracy in that location over the last months, why would the “pirates” suddenly go on a murderous rampage in lieu of attempting to rob a couple on jet skis that could outrun them on sight?
Not gonna happen. I have heard umpteen versions of Ms. Hartley’s version of events leading to the random execution of her husband.
None pass the smell test. However, just today, Zapata County Sheriff “Sigi” Gonzalez, Jr says his investigation, now aided by a witness who is a long standing member of the Zapata community, exonerates Mrs. Hartley of any wrongdoing.
Gonzalez completely rules out foul play on the part of Mrs. Hartley.
“A local witness saw Tiffany Hartley escaping on her jet-ski to the Texas side of the lake,” he said. “She came in at high speed and was being pursued by armed men in a Mexican fishing boat that that the witness clearly observed.”
Gonzalez said the witness was a long-standing member of the Zapata community who was well known to him and regarded as highly credible.
“The testimony of this witness dispels any idea Mrs. Hartley was involved in any wrongdoing regarding the murder of her husband,” he said firmly. “She called in a 911 phone call to our office at around 2:20 p.m. on the day of the incident, immediately after she got to shore, and her statements to my office confirm what the local witness observed.”
Unfortunately, the witness account does not match Tiffany Hartley’s own version of events. At no time has she ever said that she was again chased by the “pirates”, in fact, she claims she left them behind after driving “through” them.
Hartley references recent pirate activity, which is almost verbatim what she says happened to her and David, with the exception of the actual piracy:
On April 30, five people in two different boats were fishing on Falcon Lake and went to the Old Guerrero area, where they were taking photos of the old church. While they were there, a boat with four heavily tattooed men approached the two boats quickly. The men identified themselves as “Federales,” but they were not wearing uniforms. The men boarded the boats, demanded cash and asked “where are the drugs?” The fishermen told the men that they had no drugs and were just fishing and taking photos. They ended up giving the men $200 cash and left the area. The pirates followed the two boats, but the U.S. boats were able to outrun them and the men stopped following once the two boats entered U.S. waters.
In every recorded incident since April, the heavily tattoed pirates posing as “Federales” without uniforms, came upon anchored fishing boats, boarded them, robbed the fisherman at gunpoint of any personal cash, searched for drugs left without any violence. In the Hartley family interview on the Today show, Tiffany states that after David was hit, she circled around, jumped off her jetski, swam over to her husband and because he was “face down in the water” she had to turn him over where she discovered he was shot in the head.
It would seem I am not alone in my quagmire. Mexican Investigators, who hold jurisdiction have already begun to question Ms. Hartley’s story.
Marco Antonio Guerrero Carrizales, the district attorney for the Miguel Aleman Province adjoining Falcon Lake on the Mexican side, has questioned whether Tiffany Hartley was involved in foul play.
Early this morning, Sheriff Sigi Gonzalez announced the Mexican Authorities will be searching the area where David Hartley was murdered, and have committed to “not leaving” until they find him. Tiffany Hartley, accompanied by her parents, but without David’s, filed a missing person report at the Mexican Consulate last night as a matter of procedure to “get the ball rolling”.

Blink, I can’t help but think about the comment Tiffany made (of course she had made many outlandish ones) and made sure to include almost as an afterthought, when interviewed in Mcallen with David’s sister and parents, that she believes the pirates came back and took David and his jetski with them after they supposedly had fled. Me thinks that was just another way of covering her rear end when US and Mexico searchers came up with no body and jetski. Unbelievable! As far as the Zapata sheriff, I have this nagging feeling that there is some political undercurrent to gain from a drug cartel angle than a wife murdering her husband for financial gain. Big Sheriff ego of stomping out the big bad drug lords and pirates verses a greedy wife killing her husband. Just my opinion.
Oh and by the way, being an fierce advocate for a victims and their justice does make Blink Beautiful and Brilliant!

I find it unusual that Tiffany would not want to dispel doubts by taking a polygraph. Rhoni, if LE does not find a body, IMO, I believe what you described is the likeliest scenario. It would certainly explain her odd affect and lack of emotion when telling her story.
It is going to be tough to get a life insurance pay-out without a death certificate. Isn’t it pretty hard to get a death certificate without a body?
She needs to get that body found.

Although I think it is sad that David ‘s body has not been found, I do not agree with his family’s and friends stance to put pressure on the Mexican government- to “return” David’s body.
The government of Mexico is not ‘keeping’ David’s body, they say they can not locate him or his jet ski.
According to Tiffany, David’s wife, they were accosted by pirates on the Mexico side of the lake. They both, according to Tiffany, knowingly, disregarded the Warnings to stay away from the Mexico side and use caution when at the lake.
So, again, how can a protest at the Mexican consulate stop this from happening again- as David’s sister hopes?
I really don’t mean to seem uncaring, because I feel for David’s family and friends. I too, want David to be found and for there to be an investigation and justice. But according to Tiffany, their own behaviors and disregard for rules and safety led to this tragedy.
How is threatening Mexico going to ensure that David is found, and ‘this’ never happens again?
If David’s family is reading here, please, encourage Law enforcement to investigate the disappearance and reported shooting/killing of your son, David.
I know that you love your daughter in law, and that you can not begin to think that she hasn’t told anything but the truth- But from the reports I have read and watched there are some discrepancies in her account of what happened to David.
Perhaps she is scared, and she is telling the complete truth, I do not know. No one would think any less of you or her, if you asked for an investigation. I would hate to see any of you, 5 years down the line, begin to question what happened. My condolences.

The only mention I could find, of anyone contacting/talking with David recently, was in the ABC.com clip with the Mom and Dad and sister- Tracy is asked about a phone call in which she warned David about the dangers- She says yes-9 (PP) that she had spoke with him a while ago, and several times, about her concerns for his safety, due to what has reportedly been going on in Mexico. David said don’t worry I will always look out for Tiffany and myself and use caution… I’ll be aware
The only other mention of contact with family was from Tiffany herself- when she said in this video interview, (pp) We both could have died and no one would know what happened- his mom knew we were out there, but it would be nothing unusual for David not to contact her or anyone for days…..

By design, the main purpose of a life jacket is to keep a person above water and face up. You can’t really swim with a life jacket (maybe on your back, never tried that); it takes some effort to stay in an “upright” position, but this is possible. Once you lose consciousness, it will turn you on your back and perform a head tilt to keep the airways clear. The main part of the torso and the legs will then be in a lower position than upper torso/neck.
Life vests come in various sizes, depending on chest circumference and weight, and you also have the Newton written on it. No idea about the US, but in other countries I visited these things are actually very strictly regulated. I wouldn’t be surprised if there were international agreements/standards. Wouldn’t surprise me either if these were initiated following the Titanic disaster.
One more thing – life vests have reflector stripes. They are on the chest – this makes it easier to spot someone in the water.

Well perhaps she knows exactly where her husband’s body is – and it isnt there, just as Madilu said – Perhaps it never happened on the water….
or perhaps she knows that after several days in the open, David’s body would not be in pristine condition any longer- water, wind- nature-animals,fish ect will have done major damage….
Regarding the new evidence- of a “tiny” amount of blood on the life vest- considering Tiffany reported to the first contact ‘witness’, that David’s brains were oozing out- and she also stated she was shaking David and tried to get him on the jet ski- there should be alot more evidence than a tiny smear. IMO-
Please correct me if I am wrong- but wouldn’t there be brain matter and brain fluid on the vest or under her fingernails or somewhere on her life vest and jet ski?? Wouldn’t they be able to tell the difference between a head wound oozing brains and just simple blood?
And even if they can prove the blood is David’s, how can this prove her story? We don’t know if David once bled out on her vest accidentally- while vacationing or fishing prior to Sept 30th … ANd it will not prove WHO shot/hurt/killed him- So again, how would this blood evidence prove her story?

Your explaination of the life vest was very good. Reminded me that when my son was little and awfully squirmy to hold forever in the pool, I would put him in a life vest. It was much easier to keep a hold and yes it kept him up and on his back if I let go.( just for a second).
So if you tried to turn somebody bleeding in a life vest wouldn’t you get a large amount of blood rather than just a drop.

There is no way low level “teenage pirates” in 25-50 HP boats are going to create a situation to cause the military assissted onion peeling that is bound to come out of this. We have seen claims that “support” her statement headlines containing
David Hartley may have been murdered on that lake, but if it was intended to have a cartel agenda, it never would have went down like Ms. Hartley suggests.
Both Hartley’s could be described as firearm enthusiasts, they know their way around a semi automatic.
Unless this case is investigated as a mp case/probable homicide, we may never know what happened.

B) They had lived in Reynosa, for 2.5 years (presumably legally on a Visa), and never thought once, for the love of history, to visit this place at any prior time, a place just 100 KM from their home, and perhaps the most history filled location in the area??
C) According to their FB pages, he(she) seemed to like a beach, margaritas by the pool, massages, and a cruise. Adventure items included: scuba diving, climbing a palm tree. All pretty, “canned” “guided tour” trips geared at ‘luxury’ R & R, not history or adventure. Nothing like the Mexican ruins, etc.
This is all MOO. I agree about the life insurance. It would be much easier to get a pay-off if there was a body. If this is the case, Tiff wants the body found. She basically TOLD everyone it will be found on land, with a shot to the head, because she just KNOWS what the Pirates did with him for some reason (if the Mexican LE don’t find him soon, she’ll probably drop yet another hint). She knows where he is and what condition he’s in (or WAS in when she last saw him) because maybe she is the one who put the plug in him. She’s dumb enough to think that an autopsy won’t incriminate her. Not to mention, she has probably left some kind of trail somewhere, whether on paper, on her computer, on her cellphone – probably in multiple places. As the very last word of the interview = “ANYTHING” ???? Was this another Freudian slip on her part? “Anything?” She was just asked if she thought her husband was dead… but answers in typical TMI fashion by saying, at least in my interpretation of this, “I don’t think you will find anything….” Maybe she knows there is nothing to be found…

My understanding is that to get any benefits you need a death certificate.My understanding is that death certificates are typically handed out after someone has been missing for more than years, or if a medical examiner has filled it out etc. with a body. However, after reading up on it this Friday night I learned that a death certificate can be issued when people are presumed lost at sea or in catastrophic accidents so that surviving family members can file for benefits. I am more convinced then ever that this was planned out the jokes on those of us that had compassion for TY initially.
This incident if taken at face value, will produce a death cert or the Mexican equivalent thereof, without question..

In reviewing these very early segments of this ordeal why am I getting such Political overtures? Is that intentional or is that what is really going on?
I dont want to drag that dirty issue into an already sour topic, but I tend to think it’s getting hard for me to ignore. If that is the case, I dont think he is deceased. When re-watching the msnbc interview with the whole clan( M V interviewer), I almost felt the whole family was was acting. Weird.

I am trying very diligently to stay as level as I can. I am failing at times, because Ms. Hartely’s statement defies logic in about 70 places (short list)..
One of the things that bothers me the most, is that as soon as the Mexican Govt INVITED the US to cross over into their waters and help in the search, she came back over the “waves” and said she does not believe he is the water, she now believes he is in the brush. It is not lost on me that the likelihood of US teams searching that area on the ground are slim.
Here is what I want to know- why not take a polygraph and put this to bed? I promise you if she did that, it would result in more efforts and resources to locate him in a heartbeat. If that is the family’s sole goal, it does not seem to much to ask.

I’m not in the loop of common posters here and probably what I’m about to say has been spoken a billion times already (so forgive me, please) – but I cannot get over this woman’s complete lack of emotion, partiularly in the telling of turning her husband’s body over and seeing the gunshot to his head or her staring down the barrel of a gun herself. What inhumane planet did this ditz come from?
And aside from that, I’ve never seen so many tv analysts and their panel members be so sudden to staunchly defend someone’s innocence without so much evidence as the man’s body being found. Or so much as, say, letting more than a week pass by.
Holy Toledo.
Tiffany Hartley gives me the Casey Anthony willies. Zero emotion over the brutal murder of one they profess to love so much. It defies humanity.

I think it’s amusing not only that Tiffany has the presence of mind to tell Gretchen that David was a big fan of her show, but it also caught my attention that Tiffany kind of looked like a deflated version of Gretchen with her matching shirt, hair and background. I guess that was probably unintentional, but I just thought it was funny.
AGAIN, this burns my bippy. The headline to the Fox video you posted, is that she WILL be taking a lie detector test.
However, there is not one syllable or sound bite with the exception of Wendy’s advice that she “should” that Tiffany Hartley will take a test. It is sensationalism and misleading for google ranks.
Also, Wendy was not even aware of the Texas Stop an hour and a half prior to the incident, Megyn Kelley knew the case better than the pundit. (I will forever have a soft spot for her calling out Cindy Anthony).
Notice how the American Politician community has quieted? This is one of the hottest electoral topics in that region (gang/cartel violence and border control) there is.
Lastly, the “witness” who is afraid to “be seen” or heard on TV. Doesn’t that beg the question as to why Tiffany is not?
She came within 10 feet of them and even closer to “the barrel of their gun”, right?
Has anyone noticed her backing off appearances since Cooper asked her about a test?
If she take a polygraph administered by a Federally regulated polygrapher and passes, I will back her 100%.
The next thing we will hear is that she has a lawyer, and that she has been advised not to.

Am I missing something? They were living in Mexico….. Drove to the US to launch??? Where was their truck and trailer? Why not launch in Mexico or better yet, take pics of the ruins from the land side if the water was dangerous. Can you tell and American from a distance on the water? Hmmmmmm……
I saw the video clip of the truck being pulled over by, I believe, the police…however we never saw the inside of the truck. Was it really Tiffney and David and why were they pulled over. Did they go straight to the lake from that location. If David and Tiffney had lived in Mexico, then they knew the problems there and they knew they were in Mexican waters…what in the world were they thinking. “Something is just not right”.
Just saw an interview on TV with David Hartley’s sister Nikki at the protest outside of the Mexican Consulate & no tears from her either.. IMO this protest is causing a lot of political fire & is not good without all of the facts on this case being in..

What bothers me, is that this “rally” was planned because at the time, the feeling was that Mexico was not looking for David.
It has since been learned, they were looking for him since at least the 2nd, and this is the day after the incident, after all officials had been briefed. So what is/was the point of it now?
My question: Why no search team dispatched out of Zapata, immediately?
As I have stated before, The Coast Guard absolutely has the aerial equipment to make quick assessments about whether or not something is a Search and Rescue, or Search and Recovery. Why aren’t the Hartley’s up in arms about no attempts being made to locate him on our part? The Mexican officials did not even receive a missing person report from Tiffany until a week later, and after a memorial was held.

So she is monitoring this site as was suggested earlier..
… I meant to add that if he was shot in the head and his brains were hanging out, as the witness said, then there would be blood in the water around the spot where it happened. I know that’s a lot of water but some blood would be in there. The blood on Tiffneys jacket could very well be hers from a scratch.
