Murder In Mexico: Tiffany Hartley Endures 16 Hours Of Interviews In David Hartley Death

..” I have nothing to hide. I Have ABSOLUTELY nothing to hide..”

Tiffany Hartley emerged on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 yesterday after her 16th hour of interviews at the Mexican Consulate in McAllen, Texas.

Hartley recounted the events of September 30, ending with the alleged murder of her husband David. Ms. Hartley gave both new testimony and confirmed her previous statements according to reports from the Mexican Attorney General and Ms. Hartley herself, without the presence of an attorney.

According to several statements from Hartley, David was shot “off his jet ski” while the couple was returning from the Mexican side of Falcon Lake, where they briefly took pictures of the historic church on Old Guerrerro. Neither David Hartley nor his Sea Doo watercraft have been recovered.

One of the most baffling aspect of the case, is the fact that Ms. Hartley claims the pair were shot at at as they were driving their jet skis away from alleged “pirates” they both waved a friendly hello to, seconds before.  Tiffany Hartley was uninjured in the attack, and her jet ski was not hit in the gunfire. Although media was alerted last week that tests on a possible blood source on Tiffany’s life vest were due back that afternoon, we were quickly told there would be no updates about the possible blood evidence at this time.

This afternoon, blinkoncrime Editor spoke with Chuck Smith, owner Smith Marina USA about specifics of the Sea Doo RXT.

..Your correct, the RXT has a chip in the starter that is electronically programmed to “match” the owners lanyard key. If he was wearing the lanyard, whether attached to his vest, or in some cases the arm, and he was thrown off the ski, it activates a kill switch and will not start without the key it is programmed to without a factory reprogramming, which of course, one would need the paperwork for. In short, no matter what, they would need his key to start it.

Blink Question: What if he was not attached to the key, and he was shot and flew off the unit “in motion”, this would not shut the engine off, correct?

CS: Correct. The ski would continue in the direction the handlebars were pointing and continue to throttle in that direction.

Blink: How hard are these models to sink?

CS: Virtually impossible. I have never actually heard of, or seen one, sink to the bottom. The way the Coast Guard standards are now with these, they have hulls similar to boats.

Blink: Could enough bullet holes sink it? What about if the contiuum– could that have caused it to flip? Could anyone right it?

CS: No, not unless we are talking morter rounds. I guess in theory an automatic weapon could put enough holes cut it in half if that was the goal, but again, your still going to see shards of fiberglass all over the water, remnants similar to a boat accident or crash. Again, under these circumstances, I don’t see how he could flip it, but if it were, again, harder to see because the bottom is black, but any SAR or Coast Guard deployment knows what abnormalities to look for on the water surface. It would be next to impossible to “right it” in deep water. It would be more likely they would drag it to shallow water.

Blink: Is this chop-shoppable?

CS: Absolutely. There is some after factory devices, similar to lo jack, but the engine and parts are expensive and could easily be sold that way.

Blink: He was wearing a PFD I. In your opinion is that keeping him afloat until he is located if he was left in the water?

CS: Absolutely, unless it was removed, or he and the vest were removed from the water, he would be floating, yes.

As announced this morning on Dana Pretzer commentary, Blink, Editor In Chief of blinkoncrime.com will be discussing the Hartley case this evening live at 9PM EST on Scared Monkeys The Dana Pretzer Show.

As a former diver, and knowing the rules of the game, this guy broke every rule of dive safety, and he was supposed to be an experienced diver, thereby bringing even more suspicion on him.
Looks like going to a foreign country to off your spouse is getting more popular all the time.
The wife had no diving experience whatsoever. You don’t go to the Great Barrier Reef to do your first dive, period! Even experienced divers have met with a terrible fate there. You go to a place like Cozumel or the Florida Keys or Belize.

I feel certain it is TH behind the Bible quotes, for one thing it says “a message from Tiffany”, but granted, it could be someone else fighting her battles. This last one I think was meant for us, check out where it says, “God will slap the faces of my enemies.” Now there’s a creative interpretation of scripture if I’ve ever heard one. Could Tiffany Hartley Arrest Be Nearing?

    —————————————————————-
ME: am not getting excited about these speculations.

  13. Mermaid14 says:

    @S.H.,
A good point is brought up in the article regarding the beheading incident. Perhaps the man didn’t meet his fate because he was investigating the drug cartels, perhaps he was asking too many inconvenient questions about TH’s suspicious story.
And I agree there is video evidence somewhere. It’s just a matter of whose hands is it in? Kind of like why we have yet to see the video of the plane hitting the Pentagon on 9/11 after 9 years. What’s NOT there is what they don’t want us to know.
Depending on what really happened is whether I believe an arrest is imminent. If this was TH offing her husband and trying to fool the world and make big $$ then she will be caught because she is just not smart enough to know how to pull something like that off without giving herself away. If the plot involves anything governmental or political, it will be buried forever.

I imagine it would be a far easier joint venture for a U.S./Australia cooperative effort to see that justice is served for Tina Watson, and her family is behind this a hundred percent.
Problem here is we are dealing with Mexico for starters, and David’s family seems to be brainwashed or something that TH speaks or does no evil. They need to wake up.
We still have people and investigators actually willing to go to Australia and get what they need. Not so Mexico. Hence we may never get to the truth about D.H.

  18. Kim from PA says:

If it does indeed turn out that David and Tanya were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time (as authorities are now stating), will you be issuing an apology to the Hartley family for all that has been said here?

I have always thought TH was just terrified and shell-shocked from witnessing the horrific murder of her husband. Very often when people are involved in traumatic events, they cannot remember all the facts correctly. She talks a lot and sometimes doesn’t seem to make sense, but she is not a professional public speaker and this may be her way of coping.

  20. Mermaid14 says:

    @Kim from PA:
Put me down for an apology too once Tiffany passes a polygraph and real evidence in the case is actually brought to light. The problem with this case, Kim, has not only been that there is absolutely no evidence to support Tiffany’s story, but even law enforcement is not conducting an investigation in the light of day. All these shadowy figures, confidential informants, blood evidence that supposedly exists but yet we have no written proof of.
But the main reason people are suspicious is that Tiffany asks us to believe something that is against our better judgement and common sense. You know when someone tells you something that seems too good to be true, you are supposed to be wary? Well, this is one of those things. To think that Tiffany’s husband is executed in front of her by cold blooded killers, yet they let her get away and there is absolutely no bullet evidence on her jet ski even though she speaks of a hail of bullets hitting the water. To think that she has this dying man in her arms with a bleeding head wound and is trying to lift him onto a jet ski, yet not one drop of blood is on her or the jetski. It just defies logic. And then he just disappears along with his jetski forever. Absolutely no one but Tiffany Hartley reported seeing shooters or hearing any gunfire on the lake that day. No one.
And she asks us to believe that God chose her alone to be delivered from the evil deeds of the drug pirates. Why has no one else been allowed to escape from them unharmed? That investigator lost his head. Thousands on both sides of the border are dead. Why would only Tiffany Hartley be spared? If anything one would think she would be a target because of who she is. Innocent Mexicans who are dirt poor and have nothing have not escaped the killing squads. Surely you don’t think gringos are going to.
Tiffany’s inability to get her story straight from what I can see was not due to trauma, but simply going on talk show after talk show and just repeating and embellishing the story for dramatic effect, not even realize her stories were not matching. Kim, the bullet wound changed three times! From back of head to front of head, to neck, are you aware of that?? If you research the story you will see these things.
Conducting a memorial service for her husband only a week after the incident also raised eyebrows. And then having a second one, yet he had not been found yet.
Someone who suffers through a truly traumatic incident does not behave like this. Killer drug lords do not behave like this. Law enforcement with real evidence and a real case do not behave like this.
Time for Tiffany to step up, take a polygraph and put the rumors to rest. She needs to stop defending herself from behind the Bible and a web page. She created an international incident with this event, inciting racial hatred, and causing opportunistic politicians to knash their teeth and count the hate votes in an election. The repercussions from this are far reaching, and involve the future international relations of two countries that once were great friends.

Went to Border Wars website and put in a search for David Hartley. Nil. Then put in a search for Falcon Lake. It did bring up a series of photos about the event, most of which were very generic. There was one photo of Tiffany being interviewed. But no live action film of any kind. Interesting how they too have backed off from this.

  23. gigi says:

    I agree Blink, Mermaid14, Nana2,

All that talk she did about not knowing how suspects looked due to looking down barrel of a gun…no way….I was robbed on the front porch of my mother in law’s house in Memphis several years ago. MIL was in hospital and I went to her home to pick up some items for her. With the key in the lock, someone put a gun to the back of my head then turned me around. He took all of my jewelry and money. I can describe him and his gun to this day. He had me against the door trying to make me unlock second door…I had unlocked the storm door…I knew I had one chance and that was to run…and when a car came around the street that is what I did…as fast as I could…I believe in God but He did not tell me to run. I was totally calm until it was over then started crying..If one has a gun pointed to their head or face and they are looking at it they will also see the suspect….All that about she couldn’t really say how the suspects looked….uh uh…..forget that mess..not realistic. I go to many foreign countries to do short term missionary work and gangs and drugs are problems there as well as bandidos who will get on the bus and rob everybody…this is in South and Central America….yes there is some danger involved in going to these places but for the most part if you do not go alone or if you are just an innocent bystander you are not going to get killed or whatever. You have to use common sense….which Tiffany has none. It really is starting to be very offensive that this young woman thinks we are all buying this story.
Surely something is moving with this story….Nat. Geo. takes down part of site, Calfrac keeping mouths shut, Sigi telling big ones, Tiffany becoming a Biblical scholar…oh my…how will this end??? Tiffany if you truly believe in God’s word then go take a polygraphy today.

The Ramseys refused the FBI poly because they require a drug test prior to administering, and no way are they going to let you control the questions or the answers. It took 3 polygraphers before they found one where they could control all the circumstances. It is my understanding that the first two they went to produced inconclusive results. In some polygrapher’s opinions an inconclusive is about the same as a fail.

Let me say this is exactly what I don’t want this to turn into.

I have not written on the Ramsey case, and it is unfair to debate it’s merits this way.

BTW….I emailed Gov. Perry about the status of this case. @Lee, thanks for that info, but, bear in mind Gov. Perry was quoted as saying anyone who didn’t believe Tiffany Hartley’s account of what happened is “reprehensible”. So one must consider the source. He is also no stranger to news blackouts. After Hurricane Ike, FEMA took control of Bolivar and refused to allow local Houston media helicopters to even fly over the area to assess the damage. I have firsthand knowledge of what went on. There were quite a number of casualties due to the enormous storm surge. They were still finding bodies in Chambers county a year and a half later. Some are still missing. I never quite understood this until it was brought up that Perry didn’t want another “Katrina” on his record like Bush/Cheney. It was damage control all the way. What he thinks he has to gain in the Hartley case is beyond me, but I wouldn’t trust the man as far as I can throw him.

Do they not have a freaking fact checker there? the first two paragraphs are totally hearsay and supposition! I am livid with this irresponsible reporting, and editing too for that matter. Disgustingly irresponsible.

From the article: “David Hartley was shot and killed by a drug gang while jet-skiing with his wife on a lake straddling the Texas-Mexican border…” and “David Hartley, 30, of Milliken, Colo., was shot in the back of his head…”

How can they assert that without saying “reportedly” or “allegedly”??? I see that later in the article they attribute some things to Tiffany’s account, but to start am article like that? You have got to be kidding me. Faux News, you have no journalistic integrity.

  32. Mermaid14 says:

    @DesertGirl,
I hear ya! They completely contradict themselves in the same paragraph when they say the cartel was “authorized” to kill her too but she was able to escape. Then in the next sentence they say “they were in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Well—-which is it? If someone was authorized to kill them, then they had prior knowledge that the two would be there. You cannot say that then say “they were in the wrong place at the wrong time” as if it were a random act.
There again, you just have to consider the source.

The vest test is just outrageous. And embarrasing.

Blink are you saying that is a federal case and not just being covered up by Gonzalez? Where are they? How could the vest have been so mishandled if any federal LE agency is involved?

Didn’t Gonzalez give TH the vest, the only physical evidence he collected? If the feds are involved, where are they getting evidence from, the sheriff?

My understanding is that he is not working, or cooperating with Mexican investigators. He has said she is “innocent”; they have said they don’t believe her. Did they get a chance to test the lifevest before it was returned to TH, who reurned to Colorado, presumably with it?

Just asking. This is so bungled. Isn’t the sheriff still controlling this case and any misinformation he wants to put out? He appears to be the only entity having jurisdiction in the US.

I assume you are saying FOIA does not apply because the case is open.

I thought you wrote recently that you had no confirmation that federal LE was involved.

One of the things I am careful about, is writing exactly what I think, or know.

The vest, any evidence, any crime scene (s) in this incident are worthless because the Sheriff took it upon himself to “investigate” an alleged murder that he had ZERO jurisdiction over in the first place.

In essence, the Siggster was a first responder. His job was to secure the scene and alert the appropriate agency as he is “protocal-d” .

Imo, he took this opportunity to further a cause he has been fighting for, and frankly, one that under a different set of circumstances I would support.

What I want to know, is who is going to hold him accountable for it?

@ Mermaid 14 “And she asks us to believe that God chose her alone to be delivered from the evil deeds of the drug pirates.
Law enforcement with real evidence and a real case do not behave like this.”

    *********
Thank you. I don’t want to write anything snide, but I find it hard to believe that anyone watching and listening to Tiffany Hartley could find any excuse for her lack of grief, and at that same time, great pleasure at being all over the media.
Not to even begin to get into her so many versions of an event that could not have happened in any way, shape, or form as she has told her stories.
Not to mention that sickening website devoted to “border issues,” and the donated money not going to find out what happened to David (the namesake of that grotesque BRING DAVID HOME site) but to educate counties, states, “locals’ and HLS on BORDER ISSUES! The site has nothing to do with David Hartley and “bringing him home, or finding him.
    Wonder why?

    @Isfahan,
Thanks for your input. All great points. And I confess to being snarkey where TH is concerned because she is such a hypocrite and so ill informed of the facts surrounding what is really happening in this so called war on drugs and border issue, not to mention the fact THEY were on the wrong side of the border anyway knowing full well the dangers.
This is not about good vs evil. This is not a black and white issue. She needs to wrap her mind around that.
You have Mexican Federales and police being trained at United States military bases in paramilitary tactics and weapons. I have no doubt that our soldiers felt they were doing what was best to protect not only our country but Mexico.
Only problem is, all the drugs are heading in this direction which means the drug problem is really ours, and the poverty problem is theirs. Many of these Federales and cops took their new training home only to turn on their own country and go from being the cops to the robbers. And you have people on our side too that have turned because of the money to be made. Then you have the CIA mixed in who always works both sides of every war, I don’t care where it is.
Sooner or later, our country is going to be bloody well sick of these “wars”, be it Afghanistan, war on terror, war on drugs or whatever. Too many people are dying, and too little is to be gained by putting so many resources into these endless battles.
I for one don’t feel any safer, do you? We keep making deals with the devil. The profiteers are winning while our country implodes financially and we have no jobs. If our economy is tanking and we have no jobs, do we really have national security?
As long as people like TH have websites to rant about anything the morons will listen and react. IMO these are race wars disguised as fighting for God and country and I am sick of it. They are fueled by bigots and polticians, many of whom have enriched themselves in the process. My grandson is only 3 but he has a Hispanic last name. What is the future going to be like for him? We never used to care where they built a mosque.
As long as TH and her ilk are ranting their rants, I am going to rant mine!!
I wish this case would be solved so TH could be exposed for what she is, but I don’t think that is going to happen. It just takes too long for people to change their thinking and wake up and realize what is happening to their own country.

This is for TH, Sheriff Sigi, Gov. Perry and anyone else who mistakenly thinks that the Border Wars or the War on Terror are the most important issues of the day.

TH, if you think illegal immigration is what caused these problems in our country, you are sadly mistaken. Read the facts of what is really happening in this country. This one really is black and white!

Dennis Hartley is speaking of how his son, David, was looking forward to moving back to Colorado. He said, David was looking forward to the four seasons and the snow.

Dennis, mentioned they were both moving back. Was Tiffany was looking forward to the snow or four seasons? He only mentioned, David was looking forward to the four seasons.

I listen to what is not said.

Forgive me for rehashing. How did TH plan on supporting the TX house?
She planned on staying in TX, before she was spooked-out. Was someone going to move in with her? Did she have a buddy? Did the buddy become spooked with the reenactment? This is what I think, it wasn’t her,
but a buddy who became spooked, and then she bolted. IMO

    This is the invisible puzzle.

BINGO. Exactly what I meant in my earlier post about the Sheriff. He’s just not that smart a guy. Zapata is not a place full of rocket scientists. And I’ll go so far as to add that our relatives who live there and who are in law enforcement, are also not that smart. I’m trying to be kind here….I’d could use other words to describe them.

@S.H., thanks for posting the video. Here is what I take from it. I see two people who seem to be very uncomfortable being asked about their loved one, especially the father. They are so guarded in what they say, like if they say one wrong word, the whole cover on this is going to be blown. Again, it belies real grief. People who have lost a loved one to a violent act speak with passion, real emotional grief, and say what is on their mind. And the interviewer doesn’t help. She seems to be afraid even to ask any question at all. She is talking to them like she is at the man’s funeral or something, almost whispering. Nobody, and I mean NOBODY in this case is behaving in a normal fashion as if the story were really true.

    Mermaid,

    I enjoy your posts.

This is painful listening to Nikki speaking about her brother.
Nikki and Dennis were speaking only of David, so it may not wanted to include anything more about TH.

I still feel Dennis omitted TH, because he was unsure of what, if anything, to say about her. I don’t think TH, ever planned on returning to Colorado, until she was spooked. IMO

TH is living in a Goldfish bowl, in Colorado. People know when she eats, sleeps, shops (LOL), she has no real freedom. This may be why TH
is quoting the Bible, if she is the one, who is quoting. The Quoter maybe the Sis. I don’t think TH is smart enough to quote Olive Oyl.

    Check out this local article:

Texas border lags in education levels
    http://www.elpasotimes.com/news/ci_16869234

    snip——

    Lee, Thank-you for the link.

Where is it the paperwork for September 30? Paperwork? Reports?

Would paperwork or a report have been written up? Public info??

Tiffany’s 911 call, did officers respond and write up a report?

    Thank-you

Regarding educational achievement in border areas. Anyone who is an educator is familiar with Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. Abraham Maslow was a psychologist and human growth and development expert.
Anytime you try to diagnose learning difficulties you have to keep these 5 needs in mind, it’s like a pyramid, the lowest being basic food, water, shelter, and the next being physical safety, all the way up to the top which is self fulfilment and self actualization. For these kids, many don’t get above these first two levels. It’s just like if you were in inner city Chicago. A child’s main worry is, can I make it from the school bus to home without getting caught in a drive by? Are they going to cut our lights off again so I can’t study? Until the lower level needs are met, the educational outlook is going to be grim.

Your posts are always so well informed. I enjoy reading them and agree with you that we are not “safer,” and “nobody is behaving in a normal fashion,” in any way whatsoever, from law enforcement?, to the media’s hands-off reaction to the grief-less, story-telling “widow,” Tiffany, to even David’s own family.

  48. Mermaid14 says:

    @isfahan,
Thanks, and I am glad you are getting something out of what I have to say. I can be way too wordy at times, but I feel so strongly about this issue.

    hello everyone- Happy Holidays

I stopped following this case as closely because I just couldn’t take the smell of mendacity that seems to follow Ms. Tiffany’s every account.

I am still praying for the truth to find its way out from under the pile. I am still praying for David and his family-including Tiffany

I recently read that the “Siggster” did finally come out to say that the microscopic spot on the life vest was blood and that it was David’s.

So I guess that means the lake can wash off all other traces but for some unknown one pesky spot remains. So much for its stain fighting properties.

I too wonder if The sheriff is going to be held to task…

    PS
Blink, please excuse this off topic comment, but I am glad that you will someday be writing on The Ramsey case- Such a sad case. Tragic. I look forward to your thoughts and to sharing some of mine.
Also, I must say- Mermaids point is valid in regards to you saying if Tiffany passed a poly you would offer an apology-
As I am sure you know- not all polygraphs have merit-especially due to the polographer or medications or mind set of the subject-
So I just wanted to say- Be careful when you say such a blanket statement LOL- IMO there is a reason they are not allowed in court as evidence.

    ALL JMO

Point taken Mom 3.0, I did make the assumption that at this point if she were to submit to an exam it would be preformed by the FBI, as they would have jurisdiction unless there is another agency that would be in a lead role.

I am not concerned however, because she will never agree to it.
