Murder In Mexico: Tiffany Hartley Endures 16 Hours Of Interviews In David Hartley Death

..” I have nothing to hide. I Have ABSOLUTELY nothing to hide..”

Tiffany Hartley emerged on CNN’s Anderson Cooper 360 yesterday after her 16th hour of interviews at the Mexican Consulate in McAllen, Texas.

Hartley recounted the events of September 30, ending with the alleged murder of her husband David. Ms. Hartley gave both new testimony and confirmed her previous statements according to reports from the Mexican Attorney General and Ms. Hartley herself, without the presence of an attorney.

According to several statements from Hartley, David was shot “off his jet ski” while the couple was returning from the Mexican side of Falcon Lake, where they briefly took pictures of the historic church on Old Guerrerro. Neither David Hartley nor his Sea Doo watercraft have been recovered.

One of the most baffling aspect of the case, is the fact that Ms. Hartley claims the pair were shot at at as they were driving their jet skis away from alleged “pirates” they both waved a friendly hello to, seconds before.  Tiffany Hartley was uninjured in the attack, and her jet ski was not hit in the gunfire. Although media was alerted last week that tests on a possible blood source on Tiffany’s life vest were due back that afternoon, we were quickly told there would be no updates about the possible blood evidence at this time.

This afternoon, blinkoncrime Editor spoke with Chuck Smith, owner Smith Marina USA about specifics of the Sea Doo RXT.

..Your correct, the RXT has a chip in the starter that is electronically programmed to “match” the owners lanyard key. If he was wearing the lanyard, whether attached to his vest, or in some cases the arm, and he was thrown off the ski, it activates a kill switch and will not start without the key it is programmed to without a factory reprogramming, which of course, one would need the paperwork for. In short, no matter what, they would need his key to start it.

Blink Question: What if he was not attached to the key, and he was shot and flew off the unit “in motion”, this would not shut the engine off, correct?

CS: Correct. The ski would continue in the direction the handlebars were pointing and continue to throttle in that direction.

Blink: How hard are these models to sink?

CS: Virtually impossible. I have never actually heard of, or seen one, sink to the bottom. The way the Coast Guard standards are now with these, they have hulls similar to boats.

Blink: Could enough bullet holes sink it? What about if the contiuum– could that have caused it to flip? Could anyone right it?

CS: No, not unless we are talking morter rounds. I guess in theory an automatic weapon could put enough holes cut it in half if that was the goal, but again, your still going to see shards of fiberglass all over the water, remnants similar to a boat accident or crash. Again, under these circumstances, I don’t see how he could flip it, but if it were, again, harder to see because the bottom is black, but any SAR or Coast Guard deployment knows what abnormalities to look for on the water surface. It would be next to impossible to “right it” in deep water. It would be more likely they would drag it to shallow water.

Blink: Is this chop-shoppable?

CS: Absolutely. There is some after factory devices, similar to lo jack, but the engine and parts are expensive and could easily be sold that way.

Blink: He was wearing a PFD I. In your opinion is that keeping him afloat until he is located if he was left in the water?

CS: Absolutely, unless it was removed, or he and the vest were removed from the water, he would be floating, yes.

As announced this morning on Dana Pretzer commentary, Blink, Editor In Chief of blinkoncrime.com will be discussing the Hartley case this evening live at 9PM EST on Scared Monkeys The Dana Pretzer Show.

    Continuing to check the BDH website. Why are there never any “updates” about the whereabouts of this man when the main purpose of the page is supposed to be dedicated to getting him back?
    There is never any information about what might have happened to him, what TH or members of her family are doing to try and get to the bottom of what happened to him.
    Just the Godspeak. Nothing of any real substance that either the family or law enforcement is doing to get this man or his remains back from Mexico.
    I have to wonder then what the real purpose of this site is. From what I can see, it is 1. Godspeak 2. Political talk and lots of Fox News updates sprinkled with Mexico hatespeak like how it’s good that all of America shun any relations with Mexico. How is that supposed to open up any dialog to get David back? Shouldn’t they be instead trying to build bridges and communication? It’s as if they know he isn’t coming back in any form. Otherwise they would state that they were willing to work with the Mexican authorities.
    If it were my loved one, I would stop at nothing to get them back. I would not be posting obviously biased news stories, because I would be afraid that if I did, that would end any chance of getting them back.
    Am I the only one that feels this way?

    I think DH is “gone”. Whether that be in Mexico dead…or MX, SA or some island somewhere alive and well. If gone…he had some hefty help. Either way, I don’t think there will be any form of resolution in his case.

    I don’t have any hate for MX, but I wouldn’t go there…period. It’s because of all the unrest going on; basically a coo or war with little being done to resolve it. They will just have to let it play out…and whoever has the most bucks will win. IMO :(

    AP Exclusive: Mexico says its troops killed US man

    *snipped* MEXICO CITY (AP) – Joseph Proctor told his girlfriend he was popping out to the convenience store in the quiet Mexican beach town where the couple had just moved, intending to start a new life.

    The next morning, the 32-year-old New York native was dead inside his crashed van on a road outside Acapulco. He had multiple bullet wounds. An AR-15 rifle lay in his hands.

    His distraught girlfriend, Liliana Gil Vargas, was summoned to police headquarters, where she was told Proctor had died in a gunbattle with an army patrol. They claimed Proctor – whose green van had a for-sale sign and his cell phone number spray-painted on the windows – had attacked the troops. They showed her the gun.

    His mother, Donna Proctor, devastated and incredulous, has been fighting through Mexico’s secretive military justice system ever since to learn what really happened on the night of Aug. 22.

    @lapis,
    I believe DH is “gone” too hence no need for the media web page charade, it serves no purpose.
    Incidentally many of you may not know that Mexico and the United States are now numbers 1 and 2 in the world for children living in poverty. All this strutting around flag waving is for what? What a national disgrace that 1 in 5 American children is living below the poverty level. Yet we have massive wealth and massive waste in this country.
    We need to stop pointing our fingers south at the boogeymen and start fixing some of our own problems. This article was a real eye opener for me. I expected to see many third world countries listed that were not there, the ones that were there shocked me.

    @lee,
    The story almost reminds me of the Patrick Tillman issue. That family has never gotten the truth about what happened to their son. There is massive coverup and corruption on both sides of the border.
    We have always expected it from Mexico in some form or another due to the poverty and the temptation to go to the other side just to survive.
    However, we don’t expect to see our own countrymen doing this yet they are. And if you try to launch an investigation against any one of our government agencies you will find yourself in immediate danger.
    For those of you who don’t know, Patrick Tillman was shot execution style in Afghanistan just weeks before he was due to come back home on leave. He had been to Iraq and been very vocal about his opposition to the war. He was a true American hero, gave up a multimillion dollar contract with the Arizona Cardinals to serve his country. High ranking Army officers lied to Congress and in turn the Sec. of Defense and everyone else lied about the circumstances of his death to make a geat cover story for the magazines and shore up support for illegal wars. The Army coroner, at great risk, released the description of Patrick’s wounds. They were completely inconsistent with what was being told to the media and his family. There were 3 bullet holes in the space of a half dollar in his forehead. Sorry to be so graphic, but I am just repeating. Oh, you won’t hear that on any of the official news stories. That’s not friendly fire, that’s an execution.
    I have had immediate family members both in Iraq and Afghanistan. One of them described the Iraq war to me as “Vietnam in the desert”.
    My point is, we see the blurring of the lines in everything in this country. There is no loyalty anymore, no honor among thieves.
    It’s everyone for themselves.

    Too bad TH doesn’t have the fortitude and guts of someone like Beth Holloway, mother of Natalie. How I prayed and wished for some sort of closure for her. That woman not only went to a foreign country to get answers but actually had the guts to confront a cold blooded killer face to face inside of a prison with other cold blooded killers. Were it my daughter, I think I would have done the same thing because what has she got to lose? She already lost what meant most to her in the world.
    I never saw her building a web page with every other post Bible quotes. She got in people’s faces. She challenged law enforcement and judges, and the killer’s wealthy family which was what caused justice to be delayed and cost another beautiful young woman her life. It cost her a marriage as well.
    This is what a loved one does when they want answers.
    I think I would do it even if it were Mexico. I just frigging wouldn’t care, I would be more mad than scared and be demanding answers.
    To TH and ALL family on both sides: When are some of you going to speak up for David? Why aren’t you demanding justice? What are you afraid of? According to you, David is dead. You’re just going to let this go and be content with occasional news interviews and Bible quotes on a web page? TH, according to you, you faced down killers with assault weapons on Falcon Lake to try and save your husband, where did that courage go?? TH, you told all of US to demand things from our elected officials. You asked US to send money for the cause.
    You are not even fighting for your own cause, why should we??!!
    Stop hiding behind the Bible and the cameras. Come out from your safe haven and shelter and DO something!

    I’m not sure if this link has been shared. Most likely, but I’m going to post it again(statement analysis). I stumbled onto this site quite accidentally. I wanted to read the analysis of an NHL player’s statement re: sucker punching an Edmonton Oiler(had to plug that in). I thought how cool it was that the analysis/site involved my home NHL team.

    Tiffany Hartely statements, according to the analysis, reveal she knows why and how her husband died. IMO, she had him killed. Mexico was the place to do it. It’s a detailed read and in depth which I really liked. Here’s the link:

    @ Ragdoll

    TY for this link http://tinyurl.com/35jlmva & found this snip from it an interesting question after all of this time..

    snip)

    gayle king: did you know that was a dangerous area where you were going?

    This is a common question as it has been asked repeatedly. Tiffany has answered this question in the affirmative even going as far as to say that she and David literally discussed what steps they would take if “kidnapped” (Tiffany Hartley’s own word). She presented that she and her husband were going sight-seeing to take pictures of a historic church, under water, on jet skis, but knew it was so dangerous, that they even made contingency plans on the event of a “kidnapping”. This will have to be judged on its own merit, as Tiffany has portrayed her husband as wonderfully protective, even to the point of putting himself between her and the bullets; yet, he is also portrayed as being so incredibly selfish as to put his own wife in harm’s way to snap a picture of an old church.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    So if David & Tiffany had discussed the dangers of going to this area (but went anyway) & had made ‘contingency plans in the event of kidnapping’ (her words) then why didn’t they have cell phones, pagers or GPS equipment with them ? Wouldn’t those devices have been a major part of a contingency plan especially since David loved toys ? Something to help track & find them should something happen or at least allow them to communicate with each other should a problem with one of the jet ski’s occur..
    I loved that same snip too! Gayle King was cornering her and I loved it. Funny when you press someone with a question like…you were never scared. Then it’s like..welllll…….etc etc. Gotta make the interviewer happy. Seriously, the truth doesn’t stray. How can you not be affected by the heading of a Mexican investigator? Unless, you know it had nothing to do with you. Then it’s an easy statement to make.
    She stated that there was no piracy activity in that area for sometime. How can you EVER be so sure? Someone ‘friendly’ reassured her? I don’t know if this is about drugs, but usually, it’s about money and affairs.
    She won’t get away with this. The truth sets you free…and in this case, would eliminate her as a suspect. However, her inconsistencies and keeping up with them will mean a slip on her part is inevitable. If it’s in her mind, it’ll be in her words. I find this far more reliable than body language.
    It may take some time, but I do believe she is being observed very closely. People who hold lies about a murder cannot contain themselves. Some longer than others. She is relentless but not immune to cracking.
    Justice for David will be found. I believe that heart and soul.
    Happy New Year Nana. 2011 will be a year of revelations :D
    The poem “My First Christmas in Heaven” that Tiffany has posted on the BDH site is always cited as Author Unknown when utilized. It is a lovely poem and would bring much comfort to those who might be spending a first Christmas without a loved one. My problem with the posting on the BDH site is she puts these things under the By Tiffany section which imo could leave someone thinking she wrote this poem. I realize the By Tiffany means the posting but could confuse. This poem has been around longer than DH has been gone. Sorry, no offense to anyone….just tired of Tiff-speak. Also, as a Christian Of fifty eight years I know the talk and do my best to walk the walk….but fail constantly. One thing I do know is that Christ wants us to work diligently for Him without bragging about it. I pray that this case will soon be solved. I hurt for the Hartley family if this is all true. For Tiffany, not so much. Whatever happened it does not seem to have affected her lust for moving on.
  19. Mermaid14 says:
    I can’t help but wonder if Gayle King might have been thinking back to all these other psycho men/women who blamed horrendous crimes on people of color which then caused near riots in some places. Susan Smith, Charles Stuart who murdered his pregnant wife, that runaway bride chick, Diane Downs, and I know there are others. They too go so far as to give a detailed description of the so called perpetrator. Not one of them got away with it in the end. And every time the police believed them in the beginning. But the only difference here is the crime supposedly occurred in a foreign country which completely changes the playing field.
    Gayle is just probably like so many of us fed up with seeing race used as an issue to cover up an inside crime. This is also why it blows me away that so many people actually believed this woman as incredulous as the story sounded, especially the media.
    But…………just what if the crime did not occur in a foreign country?? How do we know DH was killed in Mexico?? That whole lake story is just completely ridiculous. I would like to know if she was actually still on the Mexico side of the lake when this “witness” saw her riding this jetski back to shore. Because if she wasn’t then we have no proof whatsoever either of them crossed the border that day. They were stopped in Zapata county not Mexico.
    I’m not taking her word for anything. To many it might seem like if she offed him it would have been easier to do it in Mexico, because it would have been much harder to investigate.
    But if she did have him killed I do not believe it was done in Mexico. When you think about it that would not have been an easy thing to pull off. Yes it’s true life is cheap down there and people might do just about anything for money, but the same goes here too if you ask me. But she would have had to go around a very dangerous area trying to recruit a killer in a foreign country. I don’t see her doing that at all. It just doesn’t fit.
    I am still not convinced David Hartley is dead. Show us some proof.
  20. Mermaid14 says:
    In a November posting on the BDH website, TH mentions that she and David had gone to Falcon lake in August and spent 3 to 4 hours. So my question is, why didn’t they take the pictures then?? If they knew of this church already (and they must have because they supposedly went back again Sept. 30) why was it necessary to make a second trip to accomplish this? Especially with the border area becoming more and more dangerous, and that trailer license was also expired, creating yet more risk.
    This is the posting in which in one breath she says we must close the border now, then in the same sentence she says for everyone to help her get David’s body back. Well, Tiff, if we close the border then wouldn’t it be kind of hard to get David’s body back after that, huh?You said they were holding it and the jetski in Mexico right???
    She didn’t mind living down there for years enjoying the fruits of the oilwells that produced in Mexico. But now, it’s time to pretend this country and its people do not exist and close the border for good.
  21. Mermaid14 says:
    Just another thought, if TH keeps hollering he’s in Mexico, he’s in Mexico, look over there, then maybe it becomes easier for her to hide him in plain sight right here in the good old USA. Maybe the whole Mexico thing was just a distraction to divert our attention and stop anyone from looking for him right here in this country. I think we need to expand the search area to the U.S. for a body and a jetski or a jetski and a man resembling DH who might have made alot of changes in hair color, be sporting a beard, etc. with a changed identity. We have to consider all the possibilities.
  22. gigi says:
    I keep checking here hoping there will be a new breakthrough in the investigation of this case. Everything about it is so quiet that it is almost as though both sides of the border want it to be forgotten and left alone. Someone on a site mentioned that TH’s sister had taken all the talk and info about guns off of her FB page. I saw that page before it changed and she said she was going to ask her brother in law about the best gun choice. The guns being discussed were not your typical, everyday guns. IMO Also on http://www.clipsyndicate.com
    I listened to her interviews again. On one she says, “I don’t think they meant to shoot him, I think they got scared…..” That was a new one on me..didn’t realized she had said that. There are so many discrepancies in her interviews you start feeling like when as a teacher you are trying to get to the bottom of the truth of who stuffed the toilet full of paper to make it overflow on purpose…frustratingly after a bit of time the truth does reveal itself among even five year olds. I am not trying to trivialize this case in any way….but most of us keeping up with this “story” know that somehow the facts are constantly being misconstrued, retold, rewritten, reuttered…..but why….when is some agency or someone going to put it all together and make a move? We know the truth will prevail eventually if someone keeps seeking it….but I just wonder if there is an investigation at all on either side of the border. I am really starting to think it was arms and ammunition smuggling rather than drugs and that Tiff doesn’t want his reputation tarnished so she made up this “story”. Why can’t someone put Tiffany on the hot seat and say, “Take a polygraph.” Does anyone even care anymore? Does David’s family still believe TH? Maybe they do not want their son’s rep tarnished.
    Mermaid14, I agree that DH may be right under our noses in the US. Tiffany’s parents have a “ranch”. That indicates land…could he be there? Has anyone looked? Why do people rarely post on the BDH site and the posts are always for poor little Tiffany. I for one am tired of hearing her rant on Mexico….yes, it is a bad situation..but this did not just begin…this has been going on for many years all over Latin America…Central and South…..the people have been desperate…poverty has prevailed…gangs and cartels have take on the government, infiltrated the government, infiltrated the armed forces…..I feel as though TH is ranting to get eyes off of her….not because she really cares. JMO
  23. Mermaid14 says:
    @gigi,
    Great points all. I am posting this link, and if this has already been covered, please excuse redundancy. I know some have been critical of Susan Murphy Milano. Personally I don’t know that much about her, but the reason this caught my attention is the posts of warnings that were supposedly put out about Falcon Lake right up to the time of the “incident”.
    There is a paragraph that is almost verbatim what Tiffany described as what happened. The Guerrero church is specifically mentioned, and we are told that in the weeks leading up to the disappearance of DH, others were stopping there to photograph the church.
    My theory is that she used this as a “script” for her cover story.
    In reading this you also see how very dangerous this area had become and her story that nothing had been happening for a while which is why they decided to take the chance they did that day is a complete lie. It is directly refuted by the warnings given by the state of Texas.
    http://murphymilanojournal.blogspot.com/2010/12/letter-to-parents-of-david-hartley-and.html
  24. Mermaid14 says:
    If the family of DH cares anything about him at all, they would see that this story doesn’t hold up to scrutiny, they should hire a private investigator if they haven’t already.
    Their hesitancy could be caused by the fact that they possibly believe he was involved in something illegal and if they delve deeper, it would be revealed. It might also involve TH, then they would have lost not only a son, but a daughter in law would be sent up the river. I also think they are a bit intimidated by her sheer raw nerve and willingness to go on any media outlet to plead her case. They may feel that no matter what happened, the media will believe TH because it sure seems that way already.
    But, honestly, if it were my son, I wouldn’t let that stop me, I would be determined to get to the truth no matter how ugly it turns out to be. To do anything less is just unnacceptable.
  25. Mermaid14 says:
    Sorry for the blitz of posts, but feel the need to share an idea when it hits me. In looking at all the incidents of violence on Falcon Lake from April 2010 up to September 30, 2010 I notice one thing. That not one person was killed or even shot at. This to me speaks volumes. The people were intimidated and robbed of money but not one killed. So, I have to wonder the following. If David Hartley was on a jetski and had not even been approached by these so called pirates yet, why were they shooting and why would they shoot to kill when they had not done that to anyone else in 4 months??? Why wouldn’t they first demand money as they had to all the others?
    This makes me suspicous that if in fact DH was killed, it was because he was involved in something illegal with drugs or guns. And then they expect us to believe that TH was let go. This is just absurd on its face.
    Yet not one reporter asked her why no one else but she and David had even been fired at, much less shot at and killed. That would have been my first question as a reporter.
    Another thing I notice in all the news articles. That all of the information that seems to be coming out of Mexico about the investigation, beheadings, violence, whatever, has just 2 sources. The Congressman Pena and Sheriff Sigi, both of whom are screaming for more money from the government.
    I read in several sources that the man “supposedly” beheaded was not even involved in the DH investigation at all. I even read in another source that he is still alive. This source also said that in all of the prior beheadings, the remains were deliberately left in public places for everyone to see. We have this one in a suitcase supposedly delivered, but yet not one person has come forward to actually say they saw the remains.
    All of it makes you want to say, hmmmmmmmmmmm
  26. Mermaid14 says:
    This is my last post and theory on DH until the case actually breaks or not because I think with the politicians entangled with it, the coverup could last for years.
    OK, David Hartley is most definitely not dead, I base that on many things said in this case and the lack of any evidence to support that. TH did not go through any kind of trauma whatsoever, so I don’t believe she had him killed. She just showed no signs of trauma at any time whatsoever.
    These two were in it up to their ears and needed an “out”. They were financially drowning, and yes I think they were involved in some kind of illegal activity to try and pay off those debts but got in over their heads yet again. They liked the high life and what money could buy.
    There are two advantages to having everyone think David is dead. One, insurance money to pay off debt. Two, whatever illegal activity he was involved with, his partners in crime will not be coming after him because of his death.
    I don’t believe anyone on the Mexican side really believes her story, but they may believe she killed him for the money. She has a vested interest in everyone believing David is dead. Hence, two memorial services to drive home the point. Hence the web page. And NO polygraph. And a media blitz that was really quite successful thanks to our profit and sensationalism at the cost of facts driven mass media.
    And how about that Gov. Perry giving Calderon 48 hours to come up with a body!! LOL!! Remember that one everybody?? Worked like a charm right? Calderon probably wrote or called him back and told him fine if he could produce a reason in 48 hours why he attended the Bilderberg convention in 2007. Or name his gay lover. That rumor has been around for years. End of demands.
    Then the question remains. Where is David? I know for sure one place he is NOT and that is Mexico. I don’t see how he could be in another foreign country unless someone else put up the money for him to travel because he sure didn’t have any.
    That means he is somewhere here in the U.S. But where? Well probably where he would get the most support from family, cause you can’t live on love. And both families live in Colorado.
    Well folks that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!
  27. Chiapet517 says:
    Yep, you gotta wonder where the heck David is….it just doesn’t FEEL like he’s dead.
    Also, I would LOVE to know what the gossip is at the company where he worked. You just never hear anything!!
  28. gigi says:
    @Mermaid14 I hate to see you go, but I understand. This case has had me mesmerized just by the way it took place and then progressed. It is almost eerie, but I do not see the case being solved or taken too seriously any time soon. The wife moved away, the parents seem like they do not know what to do ahd the sister seems as though she is in a daze about the whole account. From the time this horrible crime took place all Tiffany has done is say how it was all lined up for her…the stop by law to check tags, etc. The time frame barely holds up for TH and DH to do all they said the did and yet the crime occurred only within minutes of what was possible but not probable. You have a young woman who is living the dream of constant traveling and new experiences and a man who obviously adores her and want to keep her happy. You have her saying. “When Calfrac found out what David did….” We never did hear what David did and Calfrac never responded openly to the public on their site. You have Tiffany’s basic refusal to take a like detector test….why??????? You have Tiffany say she really isn’t interested in justice…just a body. Why is she unrelentless with this unless she needs a body to get insurance. Any Christian knows that the body on earth is just an empty shell that incorporates the soul. The soul goes to heaven or hell upon death. That shell that is left is empty…only an empty reminder of our loved one as they were on this earth. Something is rotten in Denmark about this case. It has Tiffany’s name all over it…whether murder, coverup, etc., TH knows more that we realize.
    I am with you mermaid, until I see or hear any thing to the contrary then I see no reason to continue to try to figure it our. If DH own family isn’t moving for justice for their son, then there is nothing I can do to change anything.
    Love, Peace and Hope to all in the New Year. I hope all of the very important cases on Blink on Crime end in justice for the victims. And Blink, a special prayer for you-please take care of YOU and yours first and be healthy and whole as you prepare to take on some big stuff soon.
    ‘/
    Blessings to you my friend and thank you.
    I have little to no hope that this case will be solved as long as David Hartley’s family stands behind TY.
    Another thought – it’s also very surprising to me that not ONE local news person or private detective who lives in Tiffany’s neighborhood has ever followed her or checked her out in any way, or commented on this website…at least none that we know of (Blink! If only there was a Blink clone in TH’s neighborhood, she would be all over this on a daily basis). I mean seriously, if someone cracked this case and say, discovered that DH is living here in the U.S. right under our noses, or that TH is Skyping him wherever he is, or that TH has a boyfriend who’s been around for quite awhile, now something like THAT would make a great news story. I mean, look at all the local interest/comments in the Kyron case. But in this one, no one local to TH seems to care. No one is curious like we are. Everyone just blindly supports her and she goes about her business unchecked. It’s like Stepford, Colorado. Whatever!!
  30. Mermaid14 says:
    @ChiaPet,
    Ducking back in here for a sec. Oh, they did follow TH——to the MALL! On Black Friday, like we’re going to find answers at the mall.
    One other thing I did not point out as my reason I do not believe DH is in Mexico. Think about it—if you were going to accuse Mexican drug cartels of your demise, would you then let yourself be caught ALIVE in their country?? Not hardly. His head would have been in the shop window before sundown. It is possible however that they did borrow enough money to fly him to another country, but seems like he would have to have already gotten a new identity, not so easy to do.
    One of the photos of the two of them show them standing in front of a private plane that is being piloted by someone who looks American. When you work on offshore drilling rigs you get to know pilots because you have to be flown out to the rigs to work or be evacuated.
    Is it possible he worked a deal with a private plane pilot to get him out of the country or to whatever hiding place he decided to go?
  31. Teresa says:
    I believe Blink is correct as long as Davids parent believe Tiffany there will be no real investigation. But knowing how family dynamics work,once a new man is in her life, they will start to have questions. I have not given up on this one. I’m sure that we wont have to wait too long, she will eventually have a new man, she is young and it will happen.
  32. Mermaid14 says:
    I’ve been studying profiles of people who fake their death to avoid debt. So far no one has actually succeeded but many did get away with it for a number of years, but they had help. Like family members, spouse,etc. Seems like you would almost have to have that.
    Several did use private planes for transportation.
    Also I don’t remember a one where the scenario was that the missing person was actually murdered. It was almost always the “stuff left on a boat”, or capsized boat with no body found, that sort of thing.
    If this is the scenario, I do not see how TH could possibly collect on any insurance money without a death certificate. Is the seven year statute still in effect? Wouldn’t she have to have the certificate issued by the country in which he was “deceased”? How can you get a U.S. death certificate if you don’t die in the U.S.?
    I think a good P.I. could break this case within a few days.
  33. ChiaPet517 says:
    What really surprises me about this is that after David was supposedly shot and Tiffany high-tailed it back to the U.S. Shore, NOT ONE SINGLE PERSON SAW ANYTHING. No one saw the 3 boats dragging away a jetski (or a body), no one saw David Hartley himself on a jetski leaving the area, no one saw a thing. How can that be? Is that side of the lake just completely unpopulated? Even if the investigators in Mexico hadn’t done a good job of interviewing people who lived around there, you would think SOMEONE would have come forward on their own who was at the lake that day, to say they saw SOMETHING. I mean, how lucky can Tiffany get that no one saw anything? Oh wait a minute then. Maybe that means they WEREN’T on the lake when whatever happened happened. If they were on land hidden in the brush somewhere, it would be a piece of cake to leave the area, whether you are the supposed perpetrators or David…
  34. Mermaid14 says:
    @ChiaPet,
    No one HEARD anything either which is significant, such as gunfire. We are also assuming that this “eyewitness” did in fact see her coming back to shore on her jetski and a boat following behind her. TH herself stated and it is a fact that (if this witness was on the shoreline as he said,) the US/Mexico dividing line in the lake is 6 to 7 miles away from the US shoreline. Assuming the “pirates” were still within Mexican waters, it would have been impossible for this witness to have heard or seen anything that TH said happened.
    Will the Mystery on Falcon Lake ever be Solved?
    by Melissa del Bosque
    Published on: Friday, January 14, 2011
    *snipped*
    On September 30, David Hartley, 30, disappeared on Falcon Lake while jet skiing. According to his wife Tiffany Hartley, David was shot in the head by cartel members patrolling the lake in boats “Mexican pirates” as the two took photos of Guerrero Viejo, a Mexican city flooded to build the reservoir. To date, David’s body has never been found. Shortly thereafter, Rolando Flores Villegas a Mexican police investigator working on the case was murdered, and his head delivered in a suitcase to the Mexican Army.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    No, I’m still driving by & peeking in.. I’ve always wondered also why with all that going on in the lake that day shooting, noise from the jet ski’s, noise from the 3 boats & all that yelling & screaming no one on shore saw or reported hearing anything..

  38. Mermaid14 says:

    @Lee, thanks for that link. One thing stands out in that, TH saying that David was robbed and punched in the face right down the street from where he worked in Reynosa. Big red flags. And he thought he would be safe on the Mexican side of the lake?
    Also listened to the interview again from Martha Hernandez and The Monitor, a south Texas publication. It is one of the longest interviews with TH. She states that she didn’t know if DH was shot from the front or the back, but that the shot went all the way thru. Well, all you have to do is determine where the shooters were. Were they in front of him or behind him? They can’t have been to the side.
    That Monitor interview also includes Sheriff Sigi saying the following: “My records are open, if I have something I give it to you.” Ok………so……..where’s that DNA report Sheriff Sigi???
    This is also the interview where they mention the vest being shown on The Today Show the same day that Sigi says it is still in the custody of the Sheriff’s dept.
    And once again, no one has been shot at or killed on the lake except in the Hartley incident? All others were robbed of money and let go.

  39. Mermaid14 says:

    Here we go again………..TH to be on CBS Early Show tomorrow. I knew she wouldn’t be able to stand being away from the camera. Not counting on anything to change with interviewers, more softball stuff.

  40. gigi says:

    @mermaid14
    Thanks for the heads up on this interview. It will be interesting to see how TH looks and what she has to say this time. Everything I read still insists cartel did it and it is too dangerous to investigate….but somehow, in some way TH and DH were involved in something that put them in the position they were in at Falcon Lake that day…if they were even there. DH was memorialized too quickly, TH has changed her “story” too many times, etc. I have no detective skills whatsoever and just basic human instinct tells me TH is lying about something. Dang…this is a frustrating case!

  41. gigi says:

    All of the above is my opinion of course. Wonder if someone has been tutoring Tiff on grammar skills and statement analysis in the interim that she has been quiet…we shall see.

  42. Mermaid14 says:

    @gigi,
    My guess—-TH has been visiting these blogs herself. Seems like when the criticism seems to reach a crescendo, she puts something on her blog that addresses it. Since we all have had our say in public, next thing you know, she’s back. And I doubt that she will have improved at all. My fave Judge Judy line—–”Beauty fades, but dumb is forever”.

  43. DesertGirl says:

    I am still here too – check for new postings each day, but with no new ideas on my end, and nothing new in the news, I just read. But why? I guess I am still interested in this story for 2 reasons: what if TH did something nefarious that caused DH’s death – I’d want justice on his behalf. And the other reason is because I hate the idea of wool being pulled over “our” collective USA eyes. I won’t watch the show tomorrow morning though. If anything interesting comes of it, please please weigh in.

  44. Mermaid14 says:

    As usual nothing new under the sun with TH. Interview on CBS was a snooze fest. The politicians have moved on and so have the reporters.
    Just had a wild hair thought though. She has mentioned several times that they went on a vacation to Key West right before this happened. If DH is still alive that might be a good place to hide. I am wondering if he ever even came back from Key West. I’m still not convinced he was the one driving the truck that day.

  45. ChiaPet517 says:

    @Mermaid, another good theory and I’m glad you didn’t go away yet. If they went to Key West several times, they could have been planning the whole thing for months. They get another guy to sit in as David and drive the truck, while David is actually already far, far away. They go out on the lake and the other guy gets dropped off somewhere and he can just walk away because he’s not David. The only question now is, who was actually seen at the Subway? You would think there is video that exists somewhere of Tiff and whomever in the Subway. Or an employee or other witness remembers seeing / not seeing David there. All we really know is that a guy and a girl with a truck and 2 jetskis ate lunch there. We don’t know what they looked like. If there is another guy involved, he could be the medium through which they are communicating, so they can’t get tracked communicating with each other directly. David sends a message to him, he sends a message to Tiffany, and then vice versa back to David. It would be interesting to know what phone calls Tiffany gets on a regular basis and from whom, and whether the calls come from “throwaway” phones or whatever. I can’t believe our FBI can’t figure this one out….

  46. Mermaid14 says:

    @ChiaPet,
    Everyone just assumed it was David and Tiffany in the truck but no one ever saw anyone in the truck period. We heard muffled voices from the cop’s radio that they wear. We have the video but that is all we have. Any guy could have been wearing sunglasses and be passed off as DH. They never even asked him to exit the vehicle.
    Key West just stood out in my mind because that is where writers and other famous people used to go to “get away” from it all and have solitude. They knew they would not be bothered there, the locals always respected their privacy. Any time TH mentions something several times I figure it is signficant and she has mentioned Key West quite a few times.
    By the way there are about a dozen webcams in Key West that run 24/7.
    Sadly I don’t think our FBI or anyone is even trying to figure this out. They have put this away. So has law enforcement in the Valley. I don’t know why CBS even bothered to interview her yesterday. And the Mexican authorities made it known early on that they never believed the story to begin with.

  47. Mermaid14 says:

    PS, I am sure that video from the Subway was confiscated long ago. I still wonder why they released that video of the stopping of the truck because in my mind it created more questions than it answered. Then they refuse to release the DNA report from the “blood” on the ski vest, if there ever even was a report. I have my doubts. Add to that no reports of first responders to the 911 call at the lake that day. So much of this looks like LE complicity in the coverup. And no written report of the stopping of the truck.

  48. gigi says:

    TH and her “more relaxed…new normal” still did not seem to be that affected on the interview. I agree @Mermaid14, why did they even bother? Is it just me wanting to think that the interviewer almost seemed smirky towards her (as in yeah, right, Tiff..)? I wish I could get a better attitude about this and about TH…but when so many people around the nation note that something is off about this case it is hard to believe otherwise. I am still wondering why Calfrac never said much…or maybe they did and I missed it. Mermaid, it is like Blink said earlier..until or unless DH’s family starts to question the situation it will probably just go unsolved. Sad, it’s like nobody really cares. Mermaid, why do you think there are never any comments on the BDH site…I mean you know people have things to say whether TH’s friends or family or somebody. And we all know that cell phones are basically attached to us at all times…and certainly we would have them on our persons if we knew we were headed into a dangerous area. Everything about this case has just been so seemingly staged from the investigation to the memorials, TH moving away after she said she wasn’t until DH’s body was found, the things people had to say at the memorial, the very strange preacher….weird. JMO

  49. Mermaid14 says:

    Ok, I know everyone is probably tired of going over the same info time and again, but I just had to review that youtube video of the LE truck stop. This time I really zoned in on what was and wasn’t being done. There were 3 officers involved. Two of them stayed pretty far back and looked as though they might have written down the license info on the truck and possibly the jet skis.
    But one thing stood out glaringly. The officer who approached the driver had nothing in his hands when he walked up and nothing when he left the driver’s side of the vehicle for the last time. I also noticed none of the officers seemed to have the shoulder mounted 2 way radios that most officers have now. My son in law is a sheriff’s deputy so I know all the gear they wear.
    Don’t know about you all but whenever I have been stopped the first thing the officer asks is for me to remove my driver’s license from my wallet and hand it to him/her. They then walk back to their vehicle and “run” it to check for outstanding warrants, etc. This officer did not even do a DL check, he couldn’t have done it standing by the truck because he had no radio to communicate with. Sometimes the officer can call it in on his shoulder radio while he is standing by your vehicle. When they were about to leave and he was walking back to his vehicle he had nothing in his hands.
    So that tells me he did not even follow basic law enforcement procedure during this stop. He did not even run DH’s driver’s license.
    No wonder they haven’t produced any paperwork to back up this LE stop.
    Am I crazy? You’ve got 3 cops and they don’t even run the driver’s license????

  50. Mermaid14 says:

    @gigi,
    When they did that interview with her sitting among the boxes about to leave their house for the last time they asked her why she was leaving so abruptly and if she was afraid for her life and she said yes. Yet in the interview yesterday she said she was not afraid of anything. She went back and forth from being afraid/not afraid as it suited the circumstances. Personally I don’t think she was ever afraid of anything. This whole thing had been gone over and rehearsed probably numerous times. I read in one of the comments after a news story that right after someone was robbed on that lake last April, Sheriff Sigi said the following: “One day somebody is going to get shot in the head on that lake and their body is going to disappear.” That was a blogger comment, I have no idea that he actually said that but they seemed pretty sure that he had. I am leaning more toward LE complicity in some kind of scam rather than insurance or murder for hire. I think both of these two were recruited for a specific purpose, probably to get big $$ from the government down there. Also being right before the election it paid off for the illegal haters. I think these two have been assured there would be no prosecution of any kind for their role in this scam.
