Hold The Hubris Pass The Humility
The saga begins as follows:
Aging local *legend in his own mind* defense attorney gets “defendant envy” when he sees the dude he thought was the busboy at all The Florida Bar functions, making more on his first big case, with more media face time, than Or lawn do has ever seen. Seasoned barrister signs on for his professional *see alice*, if you will.
Wait, kidding, not the saga in question, my bad.
Yesterday, on behalf of Casey Anthony, lead counsel with Jose Baez, J. Cheney Mason put to “motion” what undoubtedly was screaming inside his head as Mr. Baez bumbled, err, argued, against the States motion for contempt and sanctions last week. The reconsideration request drafted by Attorney Mason will undoubtedly come as a surprise to Judge Perry. When his Honor asked Mason why the deadline was not met at the State’s hearing:
..”Was there any particular reason that was not complied with?..”
Mason replied, “The answer to that is I don’t know.”
Mr. Baez was found in contempt and fined less than the cost of his ipad.
I am not an attorney, but I do know that you cannot introduce new and different bullsh*it you neglected to bore the court with previously AND when you had the opportunity to respond and argue with a new tie and pocketsquare ensemble.
Apparently Judge Perry was not swayed by Baez “.. They say they will call but they never do..” argument, insinuating all Jeff Ashton had to do was call him to work out what his other previous 4 email requests could not.
Makes sense to me now that he put it like that, right?
Everyone knows you can trust what a defense attorney says on the phone who will not commit same information to writing. Duh.
Damn this traffic jam how I hate to be late.. It hurts my motor to go so slow..
I have this vision of Atty Slabaugh driving down the 4 with the top down and the 300 pages he threw in the back “loose”, are flying all over the freeway behind him. So that’s the problem.. the dang clerk’s office refusing to tie up their fax, dedicate 2 folks to replace toner and paper in the middle of the 300 page and 5 hour late response, while jamming every other case and function, for Casey Anthony. Missed the memo as well, I presume.
How insensitive. First word folks.. flash-drive. Second word.. GARMIN. It does not take 5 hours to get from Kissimme to Orlando, and that’s assuming he left when the filing was already past deadline.
Moving on to the defense’s whine list:
My fave- Dr. Lee found 17 hairs in a car that is believed to have transported the victim in this instant capital murder case and therefore he should not be expected to testify about it.
BBBBBBBBAAAAAHHHHHHHAAAAAA. Seriously?
To date, this is absolutely the most laughable attempt to publicly excuse a witness who Mr. Baez apparently does not consider important enough to pay his dang expenses out of pocket for.
I hear this in my head:
Dr. Lee is not going to be called to testify OR be available for a deposition, cause, like, maybe the harsh weather will not produce that case of luscious oranges, but we are not sure yet, so please wait while we ask the plant lady, who will of course be testifying about plants, but you knew that already. Please tell me you knew that already.
Not to be confused with p-l-a-n-t-i-n-g, as we plan to move to strike or suppress any appearance of the words ” Dr. Henry Lee” and the word “planting” that appear on the same page of any document or media article, as well as within the silent thoughts of any of them-there bloggin’ types.
Lest we forget, Mr. Lee, who will not be testifying anyway if his expenses are not going to be paid, was denied access to an active homicide recovery scene while CST’s were still removing the tiny bones of Caylee Anthony from her swamp tomb.. the nerve of OCSO.
I mean, who knows what Dr. Lee could have come up with in that cornucopia of specimens.
Maybe even Kronk’s Oscar Meyer weenie whistle from the third grade perhaps.
Apparently the defense team , while discussing the virtues of Jose Hubris’s new “do”, missed the free lesson on the actual designation of the Crime Scene Technician, or CST, as mentioned by Jeff Ashton as opposed to the continued reference to “CSI” in defense motions.
Freeman is Freed
Dr. Michael Freeman, who up until last forever was working on his reports for the defense, will not be testifying, although he has not been removed from the defense witness list by presstime.
In an earlier blinkoncrime.com article, I opined about Dr. Freeman’s potential contribution to the case as it relates to a possible death by natural causes. In Judge Perry’s contempt order, it is clear that any expert witness whose opinions or conclusions are not part of discovery, will be excluded from the trial testimony by the defense.
Note- no reporting, no conclusions, no discovery from Dr. Freeman, an expert witness listed in a two year old case. Draw your own conclusions, or, maybe the incident in Washington where an individual with the same name and age helped himself to an Army cell phone that did not belong to him at a Federal facility is “of concern”.
A hearing is scheduled this Friday January 14 to hear the matter.
Late this morning a Judicial Assistant from Chief Judge Perry’s Chambers, speaking from a microphone at the defense table he turned on and off by himself, read aloud to Blink, Editor In Chief blinkoncrime.com, the order he is to prepare for Friday, as dictated to him by my Judge Perry daydream-thought-bubble this afternoon:
Mr. Mason, what you’ve just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul*.
Full disclosure: Maybe without his reading glasses Cheney Mason thought he was penning a request for a vacation, not a request to vacate.. In which case, who could blame the man? I say grant it without prejudice or reservations.

Don’t worry about getting the name wrong…it’s actually not a name, but an acronym of sorts (in my head, at least) that stands for ‘Seeker Of The Truth’. For some reason, I think there is another person that visits this site with the same, or closely related, name. I’ve only recently started joining in here, but have been following this case and reading here for a few years. Blink is simply AMAZING, and I gain much insight from everyone’s posts….your’s are especially exceptional…you say everything I am thinking (except in MY head it’s all jumbled)and you convey it in a very powerful, easy to follow manner.
Your latest post on George was awesome and I’ll check out the link later. I’m wondering how George’s testimony when he said (pp) ‘yes, I’ll do anything to save my daughter…’ will impact any of his other testimony, past, present or future. In essence his testimony, to me, basically states that ANYTHING he says (or does), has said or will say can’t EVER be accepted as honest and truthful. Was this question posed by Baez to George purposeful in an attempt to have all of GEORGE’S statements thrown out?

Mark Hawkins
Hawkins, who said he went on a few dates with Anthony but they never had a sexual relationship, said he had daily contact with Anthony over the summer of 2008.
Hawkins asked Anthony what she meant about a message left over the summer. Anthony said that her brother Lee Anthony “knew most of the story about what had happened to Caylee” and that she would tell the source about it “some day.”
Search volunteers complain about suspicious calls
OSCO deputies received numerous complaints from former TES volunteers who said they received calls from someone representing themselves as an investigator calling “from the Orange County Courthouse.”
Deputies ultimately determined the calls were made by investigators working for Anthony’s defense attorney, Jose Baez.
Deputies checked into the complaints to determine whether the defense was misrepresenting itself as law enforcement or with the state attorney’s office.
Investigators ultimately determined no crime was committed.
Expert reports on insects
Other documents released today showed expert reports discerning the insects found in the trash bag taken from Anthony’s trunk, which they said have no forensic value and were likely attracted there because of rotting garbage, not a rotting corpse.
Also, no DNA was found on the laundry bag or the shorts found near the remains.

Wells explains meeting with Anthonys’ neighbor Brian Burner. Burner told Wells how Casey Anthony had borrowed a shovel to dig up a bamboo root in the backyard. He also said that Casey’s car had been backed up in the garage that day.
“She brought it (the shovel) back an hour later,” Wells said. “Nothing stood out as far as being something wrong.”
Wells arranged to have the “round-blade” shovel collected as evidence. He also went next door and spoke to George Anthony “police officer to police officer,” and told him, “I was looking for evidence that someone, something had been buried.”
Kiomarie Torres Cruz
On July 19, 2008, Wells met with Kiomarie Torres Cruz. She told him their favorite place to hang out was a wooded area at the back of the neighborhood, near the Hidden Oaks School.
“That’s where they used to go to, what did she say? Do adult things,” Wells recalled, explaining they went there and “fornicated” and smoked “the wacky weed.”
Wells also said “Casey voiced to her that she didn’t really want the baby, that she was probably going to give the baby up for adoption, but her mama, Casey’s mama, would not allow that at all.”
Wells also described hearing from a psychic who would call from time to time and say “Caylee was in a culvert next to an alligator.”
Dr. G found no evidence of trauma
She confirmed that the skeletal remains showed no signs of trauma. “With my own eyes, I saw no evidence of trauma,” she said. “There’s some post-mortem trauma from animals, but not ante-mortem trauma.”

I swear, Casey seems to be so cold and heartless. These songs are just too much IMO, This song “A New Beginning” when played with the knowledge that Casey was listening to it as her baby daughter lie decomposing down the street, after Caylee’s “Disappearance” death, and duct-taping sent cold shivers up my spine.

chelsea- I hope you weren’t serious about just lurking…I feel that way too sometimes- its okay to step back and take a breather- I follow more than Caylee’s threads at BOC, and sometimes i just need to step away from all the pain and heartache…to regain my composure and thoughts. I don’t know how Blink does it, everyday, for every thread, each victim, for each commenter… all of this is overwhelming- but Chelsea don’t stop posting- I value your comments so much.
Thanks for the encouragement, Mom, ragdoll, chica. You all manage in your own inimitable way, to put into words exactly what I am thinking and long to express. I follow other blogs but invariably return here to get some sense of reality regarding ‘legal’ issues. Florida Law is so very different to that in the UK, it takes some getting my head around but hopefully the outcome should be the same – Justice. Q: Did you get out of your car A: “NO” Q: Did you see or notice anything on Suburban Dr. A: We didn’t get out Q: What is your husbands name and information A: My husband doesn’t know anything and in no way involved and she wasn’t going to give him anything. She had met with Mort Smith already and they need to go and check their notes. Note, she gave the voice mails to Yuri Melich for further investigation.

Thanks chica – had an off week, what a misery I sounded!! I have been reading several of John Lescroart novels recently and have found them really useful for putting US (California’s anyway) justice system into context for me. So much of the Casey Anthony Hearings, Motions, Judge’s decisions, defense and prosecution tactics etc. are used in the telling of the tales. Don’t know Blink’s or any other legal experts views on the correctness of the detail but I am enjoying them immensely.

WESH2 news has a little piece on Caylee’s paternity. They’re reporting about a deposition by Paul Anthony Kelley; George & Cindy’s attorney who they consulted about custody. I’ll post that link then look for the deposition.
Of interest to me is the assertion that the bio-father supposedly signed a document surrendering parental rights sometime before he died in an auto accident out of state. The Anthonys showed Kelley an obituary. Kelley (like Cindy) just can’t remember his name. (I have a very hard time believing no one can remember the father’s name, especially now that we know(?) he signed a document.)

I have always stated from Day 1. How in the h**l can ANYONE actually even CONSIDER putting a beautiful woman, like Casey, to death OR even imprisoning her for any length of years, when it was never determined, nor did the OC Coronor even know how her alleged victim passed away, because the remains were just too decomposed to know what caused her death, if ANYTHING??
End this circus. Give Casey the plea deal she wants and that both she and the Florida Taxpayers can live with AND be happy with.
In a nutshell to the above question: “Are Dr. G’s circumstances the right conclusion?”
I believe most common sense, open-minded people would agree with me and answer with a RESOUNDING “No!!!”

I couldn’t find Attorney Paul Kelley’s deposition, but the Orlando Sentinel article worded the “surrender” of the bio-father’s parental rights a little differently:
Kelley, who knew the Anthonys before the case erupted in July 2008, also said he drafted documents to help the Anthonys have Caylee’s father sign over his parental rights. He did not know if those documents were ever filed, but was later told that the father signed the paperwork before he died, Kelley said during his October deposition.

I pray for justice for Caylee. I cannot fathom how these people (Cindy, George and lee) can look themselves in the mirror or sleep at night.
Justice for Caylee
George knew by asking Cindy ( she said he asked her about her communication with Casey) that Casey was OK, alive, from June 16 to July 17 , they only could not get a hold of Caylee. Why then he assumed that the car after 2 weeks in a taw yard would have Casey’s body? He is lying.
George wanted to stick a gun into someone’s face? He would admit of attempting something so illegal. He tries too hard to sway attention away from real reason, that he wanted Casey back in jail.
I heard from a reliable person that the jury was paid for.has anyone heard the same?
