Caylee/Casey Anthony Trial: Sidebar Silliness- Baez Concerned Casey Will Be Viewed As a Lesbian And Other Wishful Thinking

Orlando, FL-  I know, everyone was looking for my analysis for the week on some of the most influential forensics evidence and experts to date.  You will have to wait.  I could simply not let this go.  Jose Baez, defense counsel for accused Filicidial frequent fornicator Casey Anthony is concerned his client might be viewed as a lesbian by the jury based on some photos in evidence.

I can’t take it.  I thought I could, I thought I could keep it objective.  I admit it, he is a Barristerific  Baffoon Extroirdinaire.

This defendant, this woman, with multiple simultaneous male sexual partners, an unknown baby daddy, the prosecution bases it’s case on the fact that she has a new boyfriend she is willing to kill her child over, and this is HIS REACTION?

“I would just lay out for our argument that any photos that would implicate or insinuate in any way that my client is a lesbian through the dancing she is doing with this other woman…”

It is maddening what an oaf this guy is with respect to being charged with saving a defendant’s life.  Having a jury perceive Casey as a lesbian is like Christmas in June for his client.  Not a lot of cases of lesbian-motivated filicide out there, and what is, is likely to be a new suspect for this suspect generating camp.

At that point Perry cuts him off and asks, “Have you been to nightclubs in the last three or four years?”
Baez says he has been, but noted that the average age of the jurors is 50 and that some members “would be extremely offended” by the image.

This from the business owner turned attorney of the now defunct Brazillian Bikini online store.

Seriously.

Hello all. I’m up late watching todays proceeding…

    Blink-

Such powerful testimony today even without seeing the most graphic pictures.

I assume that you were able to view them, unaltered as a member of the media?

That ducttape was wrapped around little Caylees skull- I have no doubt about that now, and it was not one piece or two pieces but three pieces.

And the only cross given by the defense amounted to – Did you know RK called three times, who took what pic, who moved the log, that tape looks like it moved, was it lying on the ground detached, and who cleared some of the dense foliage away with a machete…which I guess for them equates to some elaborate conspiracy. RK moved Caylee, and even without Dr. Lee, they are still going for improper evidence collection or contamination- which they hope the jury will believe and that it will be enough for the jury to forget the ugly truth of what those pics actually revealed – and what a thorough job- was actually completed.

I understand why you cant get those pictures out of your mind Blink- but I also understand your duty to look at them, nomatter the graphic nature.
Not so much for Casey. She couldnt bear to look, even though to me, as a mommy I would have been compelled to look, I would have needed to look not doing so would mean I abandoned my baby again, it would have been a failure on my part- as a mom- not to look, and see what became of my baby- after an accident…after she was taken from my arms…

Casey however turned away and refused to look at them, refused to see,…
As to Casey reaction,to me- it looked like an avoidance attempt, brought on by extreme consciousness of guilt.

Let us not forget that this is the woman, the mother who uploaded icon after icon of skulls during the period her daughter lay dead and decomposing. Skulls kissing and dancing and in a myriad of other states. Morbidly displayed amongst pics of hearts ect.

This is the mother who during the 31 days deleted pics of her own daughter in life, and chose to keep those morbid pics or seemingly as a replacement, uploaded them, in addition to finding and looking at and/or downloading onto the laptop- other more disturbing images- that seem to point to Casey having a morbid fascination with skeletons and a severed head….much like the dis-articulated little skull of her baby daughter, shown today… the one she refused to look at…

Snipped with respect- from Val’s article showing & discussing these pics on THM

    http://www.thehinkymeter.com/2009/11/03/the-telling-private-moments/

“The Apparition” painted by Gustave Moreau ca 1875. A work of art depicting the beheading of John the Baptist. In this work Salome is seen transfixed by the apparition of the head of John. Her gaze has been described by critics as being a combination of success at what she has just accomplished, and fear of what she has just done. Casey first saved this picture on the laptop hard drive on July 13th at 4:02 pm. She would open it again at 12:28 pm on the 14th. Also on the 13th, 26 minutes after saving The Apparition, Casey would save this work of art:This painting, entitled Mitsukuni defying the skeleton spectre invoked by Princess Takiyasha, was painted by Utagawa Kuniyoshi ca 1845. It depicts the Princess Takiyasha, who was a sorceress, invoking the skeletal spectre to ward off Mitsukuni, the encroacher of the royal palace. This piece of art was saved to the laptop hard drive and, as far as we know, never shared in a public place. Casey would apparently look at this painting one more time at 9:28 pm on the 14th…..

Vals article also discusses Caseys actions/pings during this time.

Interesting enough Blink, Val documents this time period with the flurry of calls from the Anthony home – which you wrote about, during “the plumbing issue”

Respectfully snipped from above THM link:

Her whereabouts become either uncertain or downright unknown frequently through-out the days and nights. One such time is just before 5 a.m. on July 2nd.

Casey was spending her nights (most nights) with Ricardo and Amy during the time Tony was in New York, and such was the case on the night of July 1st/July 2nd. Casey had been at Miller’s Ale House the evening before, as witnessed by Dante Salati and Brandon Snow. She had arrived back at Ricardo’s apartment sometime right before midnight on the 1st. Casey didn’t appear to sleep well this night. In fact, it appears she may not have slept at all. After texting and avoiding incessant calls from the Anthony home up until 12:46 a.m., she then had a texting session with Tony from 1:33 to 1:42, a brief quiet time and then a phone call with Tony that lasted from 2:50 to 3:45 am. She checked her voicemail once at 4:01 am, and it’s actually unclear why she did so since there is no sign she should have had a message at that point. All of this activity was taking place at or near Ricardo’s apartment. It is most likely safe to assume that is where she was during these hours.

But beginning at 4:48 am Casey does a few things that let us know she is no longer at Ricardo’s apartment. At 4:48 am she sends two text messages to Tony back-to-back. At 4:50 am she calls Ryan Pasley twice. And within the same minute, Ryan returns her call and they have a 14 minute phone conversation. During these cell phone actions, Casey is pinging off a tower south of Curry Ford Road which places her in the general vicinity of the Anthony home, Lee’s home and the location of Caylee’s remains. We have no way of knowing just how long Casey had been in the general area since our window into this journey into the dark is framed by this small set of cell phone actions. It was dark when Casey was out driving that morning. And when I mean dark – I mean as dark as it can get in a big city like Orlando. The moon had set at 8:28 pm the night before and would not rise again until 6:55 am. The skies would not even begin to lighten from the rising sun until 6:05 am. To me the important question about this little jaunt into the darkness is not so much WHAT Casey was doing, or exactly WHERE Casey did it, but WHY? This strange combination of sleeplessness, restlessness, and needing to connect in the darkness – to have some one on the other end of the phone – speaks of a troubled spirit.
    ___

The defense would have us believe – Casey never disposed of little Caylee in those woods- that she never knew what became of her baby daughter, after her father “helped” her that she never placed that ducttape..& the defense would have us believe that she most certainly never had little Caylee’s decomposing in her trunk- nor was she aware of the sad, disturbing fact that Caylee’s head became detached from her body at some point…how could she know where or when or how? her dad took her away, and then RK took control of the remains and moved them….

Well I submit, with the help of Vals hardwork and your hardwork, that Casey Anthony and only Casey Anthony was aware of where and how and why- and she was either gloating in her success or she was becoming frightened that others were starting to realize she was hiding Caylee from them… enter Cindy and The MS page My Caylees Missing and the trip to Universal & Cindys call to Ryan… and then Casey’s answers to this- and her later calls to Ryan P and then Diary of days poem ect ect…. I submit that-Caseys consciousness of guilt was apparent even back then, and so were her avoidance techniques and all the rest-

She thought she could outsmart them all- including LE- but there were cracks in her confidence. I think we all witnessed another crack- live in court today- her confidence in her ability to outsmart the jury & get away with it- slipped today, when the truth was shown through graphic evidence photos. Casey became “ill” and I can bet just like those days/nights in July -she was restless and worried there was a crack- we witnessed it-

Despite Caseys best efforts to hide the truth- the evidence is slowly pointing it out-

Watching the trial is at least worth the snarkfest on Casey. I have to say, this little drama queen is really fun to watch, especially the dirty looks and fake tears she displays.

But let’s not forget, Caylee is the one who suffered at this monsters hand. Seeing the evidence sure puts things in perspective.

Lee Anthony..there’s something sinister about this guy. Did anyone see his deposition? He wouldn’t shut up. Now the trial, and he can’t recall anything? Not only is he creepy, but his role-playing was embarassing to watch from the jail videos.

I also think he tried to delete the history from Casey’s laptop.
    Just saying…

  4. ~Caylee_Angel~ says:

On how Caylee ended up in the woods..remember the shovel? I think she was going to bury her but wasn’t able to.
I know I don’t have the strength to even dig a hole for my roses.

Casey put her there. No doubt. When I saw the duct tape evidence, it gave me chills. Casey tied that child’s head with duct tape. After the tropical storm, I’m betting that Casey thought the body would never be found and the evidence would be destroyed.

  5. ~Caylee_Angel~ says:

Charlotte, you said “Does anyone think that Casey saw the attention and sympathy that Cindy got while on the stand testifying and she was trying to act like Cindy to get that same attention and sympathy?”

I am SO over Casey Anthony. The amount of $$ spent to defend her is absolutely incredible. She seems to have been all about herself and just didn’t have time for Caylee. I only hope she gets her ups and comings and there will be justice for this innocent child.

    ————-
I was watching online on a local tv website. One of the comments by a Psychiatrist in NY was that Casey’s mannerisms of crying and putting her hand to her mouth were learned not natural. The Psychiatrist said that she was repeating the actions of her mother.

Not sure if this is true, but interesting.

Can anyone here comment on Casey’s body language during these past few days. Someone else also remarked about multiple personalities, how quickly her moods seem to change.

Again, in awe of the knowledge and education of all that are involved with the forensic testimony. They are truly Caylees heroes. Not her pathetic family whose gift from God was to love and protect this adorable child.

Ps, Blink, no disrespect intended, but you really should have added in your original post: “This defendant, this woman, with multiple simultaneous male sexual partners”…”Both real and imaginary” LOL.

Just thinking about it makes me sad.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Missed early part of trial but logged on just as Dr. G took the stand. SHE WAS MAGNIFICENT. I danced around the room whooping!! Mr Mason was made to look an absolute pratt!!! I am so pleased she used the language she did, it must have resonated with the Jury. (pp) 1. What mother/carer would not call 911 if an accident had occurred or a child was missing. 2. Who would put duct tape on any child POST mortem 3. Why place an accident victim whom had died in a plastic bag. 4. Why try and hide an accidentally killed child. Must go, court has reconvened.

I would wish Casey taking the stand and telling the Truth for One Time in her Life. I know i am dreaming… The worst is there is just one problem: she has lied so many times but something of a lie that even if she would tell the truth now, people probably would not believe any more she says…

  18. WPG says:

Immediately after HJJP rendered the forensic video of the duct tape placement will come in, the accused blasted out to JB again. Looked angry as jury came back in.

Anger appears to be rising as the forensic anthropologist gave his credentials and very relevant experience, including studies on fetus, growing infants and children, experience in Balkans where victims had tape across their faces.

  19. WPG says:

While the video plays for the jury, the accused angrily shakes her head no, mouths something. Simms is trying to keep the anger off of the accused face and mannerisms, but is only able to for short periods of times.

The jury will have opportunities to view this demeanor.

  20. connie says:

Way to go Dr.G.!!!! Thank God for you! Homicide at the hands of another-right on.

  21. A Texas Grandfather says:

    Wow Chelsea

Dancing around the room with the testimony of Dr. G! I agree, I stood up and said YES when she took Mr. Mason to the cleaners with her final statements. Dr. G had the attention of the whole room. She is so in control of herself. This probably comes from her TV show and her natural ability to connect with people.

We almost got another meltdown from Casey. When the evidence of the skull superimposed over the photo came to light. I could see the anger building, first at the muscles in the forehead and then at the mouth.

The explanation Dr. G gave for ruling Caylee’s death a homicide, included some of the same things I have questioned as well. It was very revealing when she stated that in 100 per cent of drownings by accident that 911 calls were made to LE and medical emergency services. Of course, the hiding of the body in an enclosure to prevent its revelation to a casual observer had to make a distinct impression on the jury.

Being a curious person, when they brought in the evidence about the tape covering the mouth, I got up and found duct tape, clear packing tape and sheetrock tape. I measured the width of all three. The duct tape at 14/16″, packing tape at 13/16″ and the sheetrock tape at 17/16″. I included the sheetrock tape because it has no glue and can be easily moved around the face. There is only 3/16″ difference in the width of the duct tape and sheetrock tape.

I next placed the tape over my mouth and nose in front of a mirror. I am not a little person and would think that the distance from the the bottom of my lower lip to the tip of my nose is twice or more of the distance of the lower lip to tip of nose of Caylee. My conclusion was that a single piece of duct tape is quite adequate to cover both the mouth and nose of a child, but it would take two pieces to cover a full grown adult in a manner to obstruct breathing. There were three pieces or more found on little Caylee.

Is this the real cause of death? I don’t know, only Casey knows. However, one has to wonder why the anger over the presentation of the tape over the mouth video created such anger in Casey.

  22. c10 says:

also wanted to say that i’m disgusted at the cattle herd racing to get in – it makes me angry and sad to think that these looky-loos are only there because of the circus surrounding this – i believe the majority of them don’t have a clue about this case and may not even care that this is about Caylee, sad, so very sad – isn’t there a better way, with dignity, that the courthouse can keep this in check? Really?, dear God, this is about a little girl named Caylee!!!

  23. A Texas Grandfather says:

Please add 1″ to the measurement of the width of the tapes in my previous post. The correct measurements in 16ths would be 30/16″ for the duct tape, 29/16″ for the packing tape and 35/16″ for the sheetrock tape. Pushed the send button before I should have.

  24. NGBoston says:

Dr. Garavaglia’s testimony was by far the most compelling to date for the prosecution and the ME most definitely served as Caylee Anthony’s biggest and most compassionate advocate by far.

Way to go, Dr. G and great job holding her ground against Foghorn Leghorn.

    =) Justice for Caylee

  25. Sue says:

Good Evening All! What a day in court. Dr. G was the voice of Caylee today. So many great witnesses for the State today – I was actually elated until HJP made the decision to bring in the video graphically produced with the overlay of Caylee’s face over a photo of her skull with the duct tape covering Caylee’s mouth and nose.

Although I wanted to agree that the video was more probative than prejudicial, I felt that it was more prejudicial and the State could get away with just a description if need be to make the point. I feel there is something up with this decision. The Judge has been too careful – considering the daily requests by the Defense for a mis-trial.

Blink – what is your take on this – if any?

I felt today that Casey is falling apart and that she’s either gonna go for a plea OR fire her defense team!

  27. New says:

I agree Cindys reaction on the stand gardnered much synpathy. Casey tried to do the same thing, even putting her head down on the desk. Drinking water to excess and giving me the idea she was having a hard time swallowing… From what I read the jurors where not looking at her they where focused on the evidence. But Sims did glance at the jury twice to see.

What got me was Casey watched the proffer tape but when it was played for the jury she didn’t watch. What was up with that? Sims told her when it was over. Is she a Lawyer or a mood interventionalist. The skull was in the video.

Loved the ME, she dennied the probably or circumstancial gave her reasons and added the common sense of calling 911 in an attempt to save a drowned child no matter how stiff they where.

For sure Casey’s collapse/emotional meltdowns are very suspect. No muscle contractions in throat, no obvious choking back of tears. And suddenly, when Dr. G takes the stand, CA seems fine, angry glares evident on her face as she listens to Dr. G say “homicide”.

  40. zinnia says:

I was doing my best to keep an open mind about Miss Anthony’s guilt of murder in the first degree. Although I live in central Florida and coverage of the case has been extremely heavy, I have not followed it too terribly close since after the body was found.
But ever since the opening arguments, I have been glued to the computer and/or tv to watch the trial. My family probably thinks I’m nuts. But I have enjoyed discussing some elements of the trial with my husband, who happens to be a lawyer. It has been fascinating to me to see how the whole legal system works.
I am in awe of the state attorneys, the judge, and all of the expert witness testimony, while I simultaneously have to roll my eyes and chuckle at the buffoonery of Jose Baez. His inexperience is glaring and his ego is mind blowing. Although there has been much talk about the possibility of Mr. Baez’s ineffective counselling possibly causing grounds for an appeal if she is found guilty, Miss. Anthony has a strong and experienced team of lawyers on her side.
I was also trying to honestly keep an open mind about whether Miss Anthony was truly showing real emotions throughout the trial, but just yesterday afternoon, I became convinced that it has been all a great big charade. It seems to me that the defense has been paying close attention to the commentary of Bill Shaffer. A couple of days ago Mr. Shaffer said that in his experience, when a defendant is innocent, they show anger, not sadness when faced with witness testimony that differs from their story. And wouldn’t you know, Miss Anthony’s demeanor changed significantly after he said that. Coincidence? I think not!
One question I have about the defense’s opening arguments is if after giving their “story” and through the course of the trial they come to realize their version of facts is not going to make sense, is there any way they can back out of those opening arguments, or is their fate sealed?
If Miss Anthony is found guilty of murder 1, and I hope she is, I hope for everyone’s sake that she does not get the death penalty. If she does get the death penalty, her case will go on and on for years with appeals, costing the state of Florida much more than if she were to just rot in jail for the remainder of her natural life. And, I also think that it would be much more tragic for her parents if, after already losing their beloved grandchild in a horrible, sickening murder, George and Cindy would have to also deal with the knowledge that the child they raised will be put to death. Even though they probably realize what a horrible thing she did, Miss Anthony is still their child. I say let her rot in jail and die naturally, and then rot in hell for eternity.

So far I truly believe she had her hand in the matter of dumping her child on the side of the road. But before you can convict her of murder it has to be proven without a shadow of doubt.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Actually, the law is beyond and to the exclusion of *reasonable* doubt….not a shadow of doubt, or all doubt.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Btw, I thought Dr. G. was the most powerful witness for the prosecution thus far. She blew the ‘accidental drowning’ scenario out of the water!

Grace- thank you so much for addressing this, I meant to and it got away from me,you are exactly right, the standard is beyond and to the exclusion of *reasonable* doubt.

Dr. G was absolutely the most compelling witness for the prosecution to date, as she should be, when we have a COD as “undetermined means” the jury is going to place great weight on her testimony.

Man, did she deliver. My sources tell me that Cheney Mason drew his line in the sand on cross-examining her.

Meaning, he pulled rank to do so. She cleaned his clock.

You have got to see this if you have not already and PLEASE if you have not seen it, get it to who needs to see it. Cindy Anthony is DEFINATELY coaching Casey….OMG it made me ill.

look at the start of it and watch her close 1:50 mark or so.

I see what your referring to I presume as to the Cindy glasses movements, but how is that coaching Casey, or am I missing other video of Casey’s reaction? For the record, Casey is going to have a very hard time seeing Cindy from her trajectory.

Here’s a close-up video capturing the accused blasting off with UBER-anger to JB as soon as HHJP made the ruling that the animated duct tape video would be admitted in and presented. JMO, but when I watched this “display” in real time on Friday, don’t think the anger was directed at JB . . .

wow, there is no denying this girl can turn it on and off for the jury.

Something that comes to mind w/ the “throwing away of Caylee & the hiding of Caylee’s body”
    -and-
the “discovery & location of Caylee’s remains” …

    Caylee’s skull etc was “discovered under/next to/close to a rotting log” …

Reminds me of the Brooke Willberger case [Oregon -abducted 5/24/2004 recovered 09/21/2009].

“Joel Courtney pleaded guilty to murdering her. Courtney’s agreement to tell officials where he’d left Wilberger’s body after kidnapping, raping and murdering her was part of a plea deal to avoid the death penalty, he said.”

“In his “romanticized account of what happened,” Courtney hadn’t decided to kill her until he saw how hard she fought against being raped, Haroldson said, and then
==>he hid her body in such a way that it was unlikely it would ever have been found.”<==
    http://abcnews.go.com/US/remains-brooke-wilberger-found-years-disappearance/story?id=8632233

"Last week, authorities finished recovering her remains from a secluded area in the forest just off Highway 20, said Benton County District Attorney John Haroldson. A multiagency team of investigators began working at the site on Sept. 19. Authorities refused to disclose the exact location until the work was finished."

"The site is on private property off an unmarked dirt road about three miles east of Blodgett and two miles west of Wren. The dirt road does not appear on county maps. Tuesday afternoon, a log blocked the dirt road and new "No Trespassing" signs hung from trees. The road leads north from a small paved spur off Highway 20. Heavy litter at the end of the pavement and up the dirt road indicates it is not untrafficked. Highway 20 is less than 100 yards away from the junction of the spur road and the dirt road. According to a map from the Benton County Assessor's Office, the spur was part of Highway 20 in the 1950s."

"Courtney admitted that on May 24, 2004, he kidnapped Wilberger at knifepoint, bound her and drove her to the woods. The next day, he struck her in the head with a piece of wood, killing her. Wilberger's remains were positively identified via dental records.Investigators also were able to recover clothes, jewelry and keys from the scene."

"Courtney said he saw Wilberger the morning of May 24, but approached two Oregon State University students first. He went back to the apartment complex he'd seen Wilberger at and pulled his van into the parking lot to block her view of the building. He got out with a FedEx envelope as if making a delivery, then forced Wilberger into his van at knifepoint."

"He bound her with **duct tape and took her to an isolated area** in rural Benton County. At one point, Courtney got hungry and returned to Corvallis, with Wilberger in the van.The next morning, he raped her.
Wilberger fought back so strongly he decided he had to kill her. She was bludgeoned to death, Haroldson said."

"Courtney had been stalking women that Monday morning. He saw Wilberger, but he drove near Oregon State University and confronted two other women, who would not approach him when he attempted to lure them near his van, supposedly to consult a map. He drove back to Wilberger and stopped the van between her and the building, blocking her from view. He forced her into the van at knifepoint, drove a short distance and then**bound her with duct tape**. He drove west to a wooded area in the Coast Range near Wren where he later raped and bludgeoned her to death.
**He concealed her body under woody debris."**

"[Joel Courtney] tells his sister & family after 'being missing' for 36hrs [on 05/24/2009] about being kidnapped, these guys, knives & a girl being there …"

    " …concealing her body in the forest… wooded & shaded ground … "

Make sure you listen to the "court room tactics" he "uses" to "keep from standing trial/sentenced in NM & being brought to Oregon."

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Murder_of_Brooke_Wilberger

Brooke was placed under/next to a 'rotting log'. Brooke's remains were locate in a place "by/under the log" that IF Courtney had not disclosed the location, Brooke would not have been found.

Just as w/ Caylee having remains scattered there was some of that w/Brooke, [which you can see in the last video w/crime scence video shown].

JMO & your patience, my thought & question is, in each of these cases, the victim is left under/by/near a decomposing log, did they each "dispose" of "the dead body in a spot that ALREADY had decomposing going on, to SPEED UP the "decomp" of the "body they are concealing/hiding" ???

JMHO I had thought some of the experts might have "said something about the location of Caylee's body to the downed log" … " and of the ALREADY insect activity & decomp of the log INCREASING decomp of her body" …

Just a thought & question that came about after listening this week to JB go on & on about "CSI's/ME's moving the skull" … " how/why could they move the log" etc etc etc

Again just wondering …and pondering the "methodology of killers and how they conceal a victim".
Or as Dr G stated "Thrown out & left to rot".

Blink, how about an update?! Do you feel JB is making any progress?

Starsky, I am doing Dana show Tuesday night, and it may just take me that long to get caught up, I had some weekend-long family commitments that included staying out of town and I am having to watch Friday and Sat on video. I appreciate everyone’s patience, I will get there in time to be out of pocket next weekend, lol, for my sister’s wedding, also out of town. This weekend we had a bridal shower, college graduation picnic, and extended family portrait sitting. Phew.

I wonder if the white bag of trash that was found to have been in Casey’s car is (tied or knotted) as the black bags that held Caylee’s remains? My husband and I each tie trash bags differently…just a thought…
