NH Girl Celina Cass Body Found in CT River: Police Probe Focuses on Family Home And StepDad Wendell Noyes
West Stewartstown, NH- Celina Cass, 11 year old Canaan Middle School Student and basketball player with a luminous grin, was recovered from the Connecticut River this afternoon.
For
At 10:30 this morning, the remains believed to be that of Celina Cass, were located following efforts to lower the Connecticut River, less than 1 mile from her home.
The sister of Keith and Kayla was removed at 5:30PM EST this afternoon.
Speaking on the condition of anonymity to www.blinkoncrime.com, sources inside the investigation have confirmed that electronic forensic evidence led to Celina’s recovery today.
While Celina’s stepfather, Wendell Noyes, has not been named a suspect in her disappearance and subsequent death, ” Mr. Noyes’s previous mental diagnosis are a clear factor in this case.”
(Editors Note: My quote in response to a request to analyze this case: Wendy Noyes is a creeper. I would not let him look at an enemies kids yearbook. This child went from images of an average child of her age, to a blossoming young lady. If you have anyone in the house, or periphery in the preceeding 72 hours of her disappearance with any sexual issues, or fringe of same, this is your top tier priority. StepMonster is worthy of further conversation, fyi.)
Mr. Noyes has a history of hospitalization, both voluntary and involuntary. In a previous incident involving a former girlfriend and her family, Noyes was arrested, and subsequently hospitalized as a result of an admitting resident finding that he was a paranoid schizophrenic. During the criminal phase of this allegation, Noyes was classified as “Unfit to stand trial.”
Outside the Cass/Noyse residence this afternoon, following the announcement Celina was recovered, Noyse appeared outside screaming and rolling in the lawn, necessitating his most recent psychiatric evaluation.
Requests for a comment or statement from the Cass Family have been unanswered at the time of this publication.

Pick-Up Truck Driven By Celina Cass’ Stepfather Seized By Police

Police investigating the suspicious death of 11-year-old Celina Cass focused on the fifth grader’s home today, taking a truck that neighbors said was driven by the girl’s stepfather.
Investigators hauled away a silver pickup truck from the Cass home this afternoon, part of their continued search for evidence and witnesses.
Neighbor Shannon Towle told ABCNews.com that Wendell Noyes, Celina’s stepfather, drives a truck matching that description. She often sees Noyes at her husband’s West Stewartstown store, Towles Mini Mart, where he is a regular customer.
“The death certificate indicates the cause and manner of death are pending toxicology reports and further investigation,” Young said at a brief news conference Tuesday evening.
Despite these findings, Young said, the Attorney General’s office continues to investigate the death as suspicious based on “a visual observation of Miss Cass’ body both in and out of water.” Young warned the community to remain vigilant.
As the town awaits more information about Celina’s death, her body has been turned over to the family, the Associated Press reported.
The memorial service for Celina Cass will be in West Stewartstown, according to a Facebook post from consignment shop Lads and Ladybugs, where Celina’s mother, Louisa Noyes, works. The store will be closed until Monday, August 8.
Despite the town’s heartbreak over Celina’s death, West Stewartstown will hold its annual children’s festival, called Stewartstown Days, in honor of Celina.

I can only think that whomever took their room did so because he was paying for it. I dont understand this at all, I know they probably had very little money, but if I needed to take in a border in my own small unit I would have given my two girls my room and take the basement myself. Everytime I read something new about this “family” I despise them all the more – I just cant help it.
B, or anyone-
Was wondering anyone’s thoughts on the young man that resided in Celina’s home? I have seen some discussion that it was his red vehicle that was originally searched. There was also local scuttlebutt on one of the FB pages re he & some buddies. Food for thought.

This is more in line with our current thoughts-

When I was at work, quickly looked online and I saw the news re the truck being taken away from I think the Boston Globe. The interesting adage was the mention of a green garbage can that was collected, the thing under the blue tarp in the pic in my last post. B.G. does not have that article as a headline right now.
Also on FB, per SM, was a rumor that SF had been seen washing some sheets, which was possibly found in the green trash can.
I don’t think it will be long.
Who is SF?

Thank your for your efforts to put a stop to the wild ones in your neighborhood. It is only when true adults confront this type of behavior that something can get accomplished to stop it. Pester the police until they pay attention. Find some adult neighbors that will help.
This young girl did not deserve the type of treatment she recieved. We cannot understand how a woman could allow bad behavior from a man to get to this point. It may be revealed that abuse was given to all females in the house, including the mother. This is where family support from outside the home is needed.
The first clue should have been the discharge from the service. These discharges need to be communicated to the community in which the person will live. Time after time we have seen people who were taught to kill in the military come home with problems. This was a problem following WWII and every war or military engagement since.

I am prepared at this point to say that Wendell Noyes is a suspect in the death of Celina Cass.
It is my personal opinion he is culpable in her death and “improper burial”.
It is also my opinion he is a freak, and Louisa had an obligation to her daughter to know better.
This little gal- breaks my heart.

I agree one billion percent Blink! Mom and dads have a parenting obligation to vet the people they are going to allow to be around their beloved children. If they are unwilling to do that, then they should not have children to begin with. Parents should not allow even slightly suspicious people any access to their kids-ever.
Parents should be asking the tough questions and paying constant attention to their kids to see if they can discern any problems that might be occurring in their lives. That should be an ongoing job that any parent should be doing.
Turning a blind eye to what is going on with your kids because you are stressed, broke, sad, depressed, ill, dating, etc, proves you are not parenting. You are simply existing in your own little world-and a case like Celina’s shows that this is NOT acceptable.
When you have kids-they become your first priority-anything less and you have failed at your most important task, which is raising your kids with love and attention, in a safe environment.
If more parents would put their kids first and not insist on introducing various and sundry “others” into their lives and homes, there would likely be a lot less of these types of crimes.
YW and thanks for your advocacy.

Celina Cass was found wrapped in a blanket when she was retrieved from the water. This totally indicates that this girl didn’t put herself in the river, and it’s rightfully so that the investigators have deemed the death suspicious. This isn’t the only detail in the case that proves worrisome.

When we take a look at Wendell Noyes family background, we can see a brother and uncle who are convicted pedophiles. This is a family of multigenerational sex offenders, likely with other members who have not been convicted. Recent scientific studies have shown that paranoid schizophreia can be caused by sexual and physical abuse. As a society, we need to be able to do something with such individuals so that they may not sire or be around children. We have an ethical dilemma which also becomes a constitutional dilemma, but we must engage in an open dialogue across the country about this issue so that we can come to a majority consensus of our nations ethics so we may change the laws and effect a change. I have done extensive research in this case of the individuals surrounding Celina and knew from my first day of working this case that we were likely looking at a recovery. We must enter into the difficult discussion of how to prevent this. We know the statistics and we cannot continue to allow the internet to function in the manner in which it does nor can we allow pedophilia to be treated as a treatable condition with our current short term incarceration solution. Let Celina’s case open the dialogue of what we need to do to prevent this from happening to more children. The hypersexual behavior of Mr. Noyes suggests to me a possibly sexually abused child who grew into a sexually perverted man. Sociologically, I hope his entire family is dissected so we may learn from this how we can help prevent multigenerational pedophiles and those who would exploit women and children. It is time for a constitutional amendment to protect our women and children.
BostonHerald.com morning article stating that a neighbor claims to have called police about Celina being missing after Celina’s sister came to her door looking for her…i have no words right now..reading more and more is causing my stomach to reel..so its possible the family knew she wasnt home and sent the other daughter out to look for her..i can see a quick ‘yell’ around the neighborhood, but the one to pick up the phone SHOULD be the Mom…just saying…MOO..
Part of the problem in this case was an absent and ill biological father and the fact that this family lived in a tiny town of 800 people where services such as child protection agencies didnt exist and even if they did, people in a town like this dont report abuse and neglect.
Everyone knows everyone else, there would be fear on the part of anyone who might even think to contact an agency about a bad situation – the community in general just doesnt get involved in “other peoples business” as they think of it.
I lived not far from there at one point in my life. It is difficult for people to comprehend unless you have lived in such a place. The education system and extreme poverty are factors here. I will go so far as to say many are very ignorant, without even a HS diploma. Many are very scared of outsiders and do not venture far to any city. They view the outside world as dangerous. I can see the mother as an uneducated woman with no computer knowledge at all. I also know that because there is a limited gene pool, what many women would consider an intolerable mate would suffice to some North Country women, because their life is more of a survival mode than most. It is truly like going back in time. Think of it as Appalachia. Louisa is likely a typical back country woman ignorant to and perhaps scared of many things. The thought of speaking to the press probably scared her tremedously. Ignorance causes much of societies ills, and that particular area of the country has a subculture few would understand.
Read reports that Noyes has checked himself back into a mental health facility – again – yesterday.
Good place to hide and will possibly aid his defense if/when he is arrested for this crime.
I realize that mental health issues are real and devastating to an individual.
But, I don’t know … just seems Noyes is well aware of how to work the system.

If the sister went to the neighbor, and the neighbor is the one who called police . . . maybe the mom was planning to wait 31 days or so to report her missing. I hope the sister is protected; she may look older, but she’s barely a teen herself.
Wonder if Mr Noyes has hired an attorney yet?
I’m sorry but blaming this on ignorance is wrong. The lowest animal instinctively protects their young. While some of the reasoning may be correct, those factors can apply in any socio-economic environment. The US just announced that 70+ people had been identified as member of a sadistic pedo-ring who ran a very sophisticated online network. One factor is our tendency to try and stay out of other people’s business which for most part I agree with. CThing was set free in part because even with overwhelming evidence many people still cannot believe she would have done such a horrible thing to her child. The same applies everywhere. Another factor is that our laws in many cases handicap LE. I have a problem when LE are purely reactive instead of proactive but it is a fine line they must walk. In a nutshell, the freer society we live in, the more room there is for deviant behavior to exist without interference. We also have to be very careful how we go about investigating charges of child abuse. Falsely charging someone can ruin lives and careers forever. The parents will always be the first line of defense. It’s a heartbreaking difficult issue to deal with when this defense fails.
How sad the father knew the girls had been moved to an airmattress in the basement and didn’t question WTH was going on. Also, if sister went to neighbors looking for Celina and the neighbor called LE, I wonder how long she had actually been missing and why the prompt call by neighbor to LE. I’ll throw up if the SF’s trip to mental hospital protects him, if in fact, he is guilty. I wonder what exactly was going on in that house. I also hope there is some way to protect Celina’s siblings. Just in reading our local news both in Richmond and Central Florida, it is very evident society is breaking down at a record pace.
@ Sammy
I agree with you. I think step monster knows he’s up crap creek without paddle. He’ll work this mental thing, but if he’s being treated (on meds), I can’t see how he can plead insanity. ‘Get your butt home’….the glove fits here.
His past record won’t help either. I’m praying Celina has her earthly justice, unlike Caylee.

You quite obviously have seen the conditions you describe. This has been a problem all over our country where “backwoods” and ignorant people live.
During the “Great Depression” my father worked briefly for an insurance company. His territory was the rural communities in the New Boston mountans of Arkansas. There were thousands of poor people living in the area. I use the term “poor” to mean those who lack education and understanding. Poor does not in my vocabulary mean without funds.

Your report of the sister going to the neighbors to call the police may be because they did not have a working phone. It also could mean that the mother was so abused that she was afraid to go talk to the neighbor in person.
I think we are going to find a lot of things in this community that are not good. These types of communities keep everything a secret from those who live outside until exposed by an event such as just happened.

Here’s some background info (I lived in Canaan VT for 25+years and know the family)…
Step-dad is Wendell Noyes: Discharged from USAF for mental health issues. Involuntarily committed to a hospital in 2003 because of his schizophrenia and arrested for threatening an ex-girlfriend according to court documents. Was also charged with violating a protective order held by his ex-girlfriend and for criminal trespassing, criminal threatening and hindering apprehension. While awaiting trial, a judge ruled Noyes incompetent to stand trial and ordered him to be involuntarily placed in a hospital. Judge Richard Hampe wrote that Noyes’ mental illness creates “a potentially serious likelihood of danger to himself and others.” Notice the judge said “AND OTHERS”!
Brother and uncle of the step-dad are both convicted sexual predators and on the VT sex offender registry.
Brother of step-dad is Gordon Noyes: Sexual assault (VT statute 3252) …Lewd and Lascivious conduct with a child (VT statute 2602)(child under the age of 13).
There is also another brother who was accused of child molestation.
Uncle of step-dad is Norman Noyes: Sexual Assault (no statute number given).
Gordon still lives in Canaan and the uncle lives 45 miles away (as the crow flies).
Ex-boyfriends son, Kevin Mullaney (age 23) with a criminal history, moves in with mom, step-dad and daughters. Mullaney is given Celina and sisters bedroom and the two are made to sleep in the basement on air mattresses.
2-3 days after Celina went missing, step-dad asks for people to leave the family alone as they are in mourning. Mourning? You mourn when there’s been a death, Celina was only “missing” at this point. Freudian slip???
Wendell Noyes’ facebook page is filled with scantily clad women, links to “hot girls” etc. Given the fact pedophilia runs in the family…
Just before the body is found, Noyes falls onto the driveway and starts having an “episode” and then is transported to the hosptal.
Body is found wrapped in a blanket. A stranger would not be inclined to wrap the body; this is an act of someone who “cares” for the victim.
Noyes is refusing to cooperate with the police and investigation.
Noyes checks himself into a mental hospital.
I am not saying any of them killed Celina, I am merely posting some background info in one coherent post. Everything I have posted is available under the FoIA and is readily available on the internet.
Having lived there and knowing the background of the Noyes family, I have my own conclusions, but I will wait and see what the SP, investigators etc discover and conclude.
Maybe I’m in the minority here but blaming an entire community here is just flat wrong. This stuff happens in all levels of society. Cthing was hanging out with college students and look what happened. This same kind of thing happens in upper class society but is often hidden by money or power. My parents and grandparents were rural, had minimal education, and were ignorant in a worldly sense but they surely knew right from wrong. Without a clear indication that something is wrong, there is nothing a community can do. It’s an immediate family issue and that is where the focus should be.
I am not getting the sense anyone is blaming this community. I think that folks are discussing seeing signs of distress in such a small town, and raising awareness. As an example, had my child had any contact at the Noyes home, I would have requested to meet them first (that is the rule, we meet the parents first or they play at our home only) and I would run a Registered SO check on the area, and I would have flatly refused to allow my child at that residence.
The reality is, as parents, we have got to have the kind of vigilance that one has to assume folks are pedos and criminals and then work backward, when it comes to our children.
Case in point, and I will never, ever forget this. In a con ed class a few years back, where I was learning about this sick and sad reality, we were asked to search the area we grew up for RSO’s.
Obviously I am not going to name names, but there was a kid I went to school with whose father was on the registry.
This boy fell asleep in class one day behind me. The bell rang, we got up, with our books, and I nudged him so he would not get in trouble, and the kid was “out”.
In retrospect, he was the perfect profile as a sex abuse victim, and sadly, I am guessing the abuse conviction was unrelated to him, as it occurred in 2003. I am 42. Freaks me right out.
Check your registries and set alerts for new additions people.

I’m curious…
It’s been reported that Celina was last seen at her computer in her room before she disappeared. Was “her room” the basement where she is reported to have been sleeping or the room that she was loaning to the “ex boyfriend’s son”? Did the parents leave her alone in her room with a criminal twice her age and go to bed? Seamus would say that since SF says he told her goodnight at 9pm that is indicative of the time of death. I’d like to know what room she was in when using the computer.
Blink, have you heard anything about Celina being wrapped in chains and weighted down with cinder blocks, supposedly stolen from a past employer of Kevin M? I read it on a news source in the comments section and understand that is a rumor, but could there be any truth to it?
http://boston.cbslocal.com/2011/08/01/search-for-missing-nh-girl-intensifies-in-river/
I ask because of the way Jane Young stated that Celina’s death is suspicious based on “a visual observation of Miss Cass’ body both in and out of water.” That would fit the chains, etc. theory, since Celina was wrapped in a blanket and the actual body could not be seen-just whatever was surrounding it.
Or did Ms Young say that because of the body being wrapped in the blanket in general.
Zeus- I do have information as to the condition of Miss Celina’s remains outside of the blanket knowledge.
It does not match that information specifically, no.

I am thankful for that, which I had myself as a child, I still have today, and I know that not all young girls did.
How do we fix that for them? I don’t know, but I know that I will continue to ask the question.
B
So we have schizophrenia, criminal backgrounds, and possible pedophilia swirling around the children in this home. Let’s not forget that one of the neighbors had commented that the mom and stepfather would sometimes sit outside drinking at night and would occasionally get loud. So maybe heavy drinking/alcoholism is yet another issue in this home. That all by itself can result in a whole lot of child neglect because the drinker(s) is never fully aware/present/available. Good parenting requires responsible alertness – there is no excuse for partying and being “checked out”. I cannot imagine the peril these children were in with all of these factors combining to undermine a decent upbringing. A whole lot of bad stuff here.

Psychotic schizophrenics are not sexual monsters. They do have religious delusions though, but sexual violence is rare with this diagnosis. WN’s fb page was filled with spam from being tagged by multiple sites he may not have ever pushed the like button on. Spend time clicking on the friends’ sites and you will see that they are all spam sites selling headphones, shoes, porn and other items. WN may have killed her in his delusional state, but I do not think she was sexually assaulted. Fifty-fifty five percent of schizophrenics have a drug or alcohol problem. Alcohol abuse is strongly associated with violence and if he killed Celina, this is a more likely factor in her death.
I am not in a position to research this, but I believe his original diagnosis of schizophrenia caused him to be discharged from the USAF, and was said to be attributable to PTSD from participation in Operation Desert Storm. My first point would be- how did he pass the mental screens in the first place and was he medicated? Unfortunately, there are volumes of cases of folks with that diagnosis that go off their meds and commit crimes of violence.
I was able to confirm that diagnosis was given, but there could be a littany of other things going on with this guy and we are presuming that diagnosis was proper in the first place.
Lastly, Noye’s brother and Uncle are convicted sex offenders. Odds are in his favor he has an element of sexual deviance in his background.

Most children that are wrapped in a blanket and disposed of met their demise at the hands of an immediate family member who had positive emotional ties to them. An exception to this is when they are wrapped in a blanket for convenience in transporting them, either to make it easier to carry or conceal them. The idea of wrapping them in a blanket is based on making them eternally comfortable, keeping them warm in the cool of night.
This makes no sense when the child is disposed of in water. The blanket had to be for either concealing her during transportation or to contain some kind of weights to make her sink.
Uncle Norman was “ate up with the ped” and either he or another family member passed it on to Gordon and Wendell. It is possible that Celina was killed for lack of cooperation or threatening to expose an act, or attempted act.
I am not yet aware of the amount of time this family was exposed to Wendell’s presence. If he had been there a substantial amount of time then it is probable the older sister has a tale to tell as well.
We have a time bomb close to the nucleus of this story. Many have heard him ticking for years. While we cannot be certain yet that he exploded, someone did. It sounds like a corallary to “the one who olfactorily identified it, gastronomically dispersed it”.
Many arrows, in neon, are pointing in the same direction. I reckon an arrest is on the near side of the horizon.
One never knows what is going on behind closed doors in a family home that isn’t your own. There are usually plenty of signs external if one is paying attention.
My youngest daughter related something to me last year, she is in her fifties, regarding an occurance when she was in high school. She transferred into a class late and the teacher assigned a male student to help her catch up with the class. In high school he was basicaly a good person. She thought about him years later and wanted to contact him. She finally found him in a prison serving a fifty year sentence as a pedaphile.
Thanks Pat for the background on this family. My question is why would a woman marry a person with a background as you reported? I do not understand such careless behavior.
Blink’s rule about meeting the family and doing a check is the kind of thing that was done when I was young. You do not allow your children to visit and play at a home where the parents are unknown and the conditions in the home are not checked out.
LOL!! I never thought of it that way! I usually spell out my curse words , & you know in my line of work, there are nothing but acronyms. Sorry if I initially offended.
Many people seem to be focusing on the step-father, but there are a number of persons of interest in this case.
1) Step-father: an obvious, almost too obvious, POI
2) Step-uncle: convicted of sex crime, likely to re-offend
3) Step-grandfather: convicted of sex crime, likely to re-offend
4) Son-of-mother’s-ex-boyfriend: Convicted of car theft
5) John Doe: I suspect the family’s lifestyle may have put this child in the presence of other unknown offenders (who may not have been caught yet
6) Mother: Although she may well be a decent person who has shown bad judgment in those with which she surrounds herself, she cannot be summarily eliminated from investigation. Just because the victim is a girl doesn’t mean the crime was necessarily sexually motivated.
In fact, it may be that more than one person was involved, either as active participants, or accessories.
It is easy to focus in on the mentally ill person, but we need to remember that there are a number or legitimate POI’s who need to be investigated. The recent events in Orlando have led many to believe that the SF is faking his illness to get away with murder, but there is a lot of evidence that he actually is mentally ill. The judges order, mentioned above, that he was a “danger to himself and others” is a general phrase used in psychiatric commitments (this is generally the only indication for involuntary commitment) and does not necessarily reflect a judgment by the judge that SF was homicidal.
To be honest, nothing would surprise me in this case.
Schizophrenia combined with alcohol use/abuse is extremely volatile and can be lethal. There can be sexual violence involved, especially under the influence, but I am not sure about pedophilia. Given the proclivity of this family for sex crimes, it may be that a mental illness, an addiction and learned behaviors combined in tragedy for this sweet girl. RIP Celina.
Oh Eloise-you did not offend, you just added a much needed LOL to a very depressing and sad case! I read “fu” a couple of times laughing, then realized what it stood for, and kept laughing–thank you!

LOL!! I never thought of it that way! I usually spell out my curse words , & you know in my line of work, there are nothing but acronyms. Sorry if I initially offended.
Celina was found in the water & wrapped in a blanket. The blanket had to be secured with something, maybe rope, belts, chains. If not, it would have come off her body at some point. Whatever held the blanket should be a good piece of evidence that links back to the perpetraot, no?
One of the townspeople was quoted as saying that Celinas mother always put her girls first. Apparently not to the point of having Celina’s teeth taken care of. To me, this indicates that her care was lax in other areas, too. Imagine how embarrassed she was that her teeth were allowed to be in such poor condition. God bless her and may she rest in peace.
I have to say, that issue has been bothering me tremendously. That said, I recall a pic of her older brother Keith, who also appeared to have little dental care.

Sadly, I read an article that had Celina’s Grandma (Paternal), stating that Celina was going to have braces put on this week–so sad that she never got to live to see that day, or any other day for that matter…….

“Cass’s image stood out because of her tall, 5-foot-5 frame and her snaggle-toothed smile. Marcia Laro said Celina’s teeth went askew three or four years ago, when friends horsing around accidentally pulled a string that was attached to her front tooth. Celina was set to have braces put on this week, she said.”

Somehow, that string on the tooth thing sounds like more than friends “horsing around” to me!

About 300 people gathered Friday in a small Stewartstown park where candlelight vigils were held for Celina Cass. Instead of canceling the fair, residents dedicated the 35th annual Stewartstown Day celebration to Celina.

Celina Cass’ biological father, Adam Laro, told a Boston news station that the little girl’s stepfather Wendell Noyes behaved strangely after the little girl disappeared. Celina, 11, was found dead by divers in the Connecticut River.
“Things started to become different…something was weird — something was strange but I couldn’t place it. Something was strange,” Laro told WHDH-TV.

The father of 11-year-old Celina Cass, whose body was found this week, is bedridden with exhaustion and severe heart problems.
The unsolved death of Adam Laro’s daughter is said to be ‘killing him’ while detectives continue to investigate her ‘suspicious’ death after autopsy results were inconclusive.
Her grandmother, Marcia Laro, told the Boston Herald that Celina’s father’s health is deteriorating because of her unsolved death.
She said: ‘Today was not good. His heart is critical. He was supposed to have open-heart surgery, but he’s too weak for it…His health is very bad.’
Adam Laro suffered congestive heart failure and spent more than a week in a coma prior to Celina’s disappearance the night of July 25.
He left the hospital last week and made a public plea for her return – against doctors’ advice.

Police have seized two pick-up trucks in their investigation – one belonging to her stepfather Wendell Noyes, who has a history of mental illness, and the other driven by another man who lives at her home. Investigators trying to unravel the mystery behind the disappearance and death of 11-year-old Celina Cass searched her New Hampshire home again– looking for clues that could show how she died.
According to a Fox News report, the new search at her home may not provide all answers surrounding her death.
***But the report said that after an initial search, officers could conclude that foul play was suspected, judging from what they saw at the home.***
Police said there was no trace of any force being used, and her friends said Celina was unlikely to go with a stranger on her own volition.

The biological father of the deceased 11-year-old girl expressed his concerns with various sources, and he flat out revealed that the life his daughter lived was an unstable one that wasn't fitting for a girl her age. She lived in the basement of the home, on an air mattress, in a life of neglect. The home was overcrowded, and new faces frequently moved in and out. No doubt, the home of Celina Cass and her family experienced a lot of traffic.
Celina's father also reveals that the girl's stepfather hasn't been cooperative in the investigation.

Investigators appear to be closing in on identifying a suspect in 11-year-old Celina Cass’ death. While the official word up to now has been there’s no suspect or person of interest, investigators served a warrant at Cass’ parents home Thursday. Pursuant to the warrant, they impounded a pick-up truck belonging to Wendell Noyes, Cass’ stepfather, according to The Associated Press.
This is the second pick-up truck impounded; the first, towed away last week before Celina’s body was found, belonged to a man living with the Noyes family, Kevin Mullaney. Mullaney was arrested for car theft in 2007.
Assistant Attorney General Jane Young told local television station WMUR Thursday that authorities are not commenting on persons of interest. Previously, Young indicated her office had not identified any persons of interest. Whether the nuanced wording reflects a change in the status of the investigation and suggest police suspect Noyes — or anyone else — is anyone’s guess.
Several unusual circumstances may prove relevant to the apparent decision by investigators to look for a suspect close to home.
* Wally Laro, Cass’ paternal grandfather, seemed to suggest the killer might be a family member when he told People Thursday, “I don’t want no Casey Anthony.” Casey Anthony was acquitted last month on charges she murdered her 2-year-old daughter Caylee back in 2008; the cause of death in that case remained undetermined.
* Celina’s mother, Louisa Noyes, did not notify Cass’ father that Celina was missing, the Boston Globe reported. Adam Laro learned his daughter was missing from a television report.
* The girl’s paternal grandmother, Marcia Laro, was reportedly puzzled by Louisa Noyes’ failure to tell Adam his daughter was missing and disappointed by her apparent avoidance of the press during the search.
* Before Cass’ body was found Tuesday, Boston’s CBS affiliate said Wendell Noyes had been questioned but had been uncooperative in the police investigation, citing an unnamed source.
* Noyes appeared to fall into a troubled mental state at about the same time divers began to search the location where Celina’s body was ultimately found.
* Wendell’s brother and mother told reporters Thursday he is not doing well and asked the media to leave him alone.
One new detail that came to light Thursday is whatever made the 11-year-old girl’s death appear suspicious was evident when her body was still underwater.
“Based on a visual observation of Ms. Cass’ body both in the water and when we viewed it out of water, we determined that the death was suspicious, and that’s why we launched a criminal investigation and why we continue to go forward with that investigation,” Young said in an update, according to WMUR.
An unnamed source told WMUR that Cass’ body was wrapped in a blanket when found in the river.
