Golden, Colorado- In a hearing that was open to the public only after media outlets got the Colorado Supreme Court to overturn a Judge’s decision to seal it, new facts surrounding the brutal murder of Jessica Ridgeway surfaced at the preliminary hearing of accused murderer Austin Sigg.  Cameras are not permitted in the courtroom.

Among the now confirmed revelations, a neighbor suspected Sigg in the early days following her disappearance and called the FBI directly.   The October 19th tip was allegedly due to Sigg’s very public obsession with death.  It has not been revealed how Sigg and his Mother were approached about providing a DNA sample that has been matched to clothing belonging to Jessica Ridgeway.

Four days after the FBI visited Sigg in the presence of his Mother and took a DNA sample for processing; Austin Sigg sat his Mother Mindy Sigg down, and proceeded to confess to the kidnapping and murder of Jessica Ridgeway in lurid detail.

Sigg began the confession by telling his Mother he was a monster, and that after kidnapping Jessica and driving around with her for a while he brought her to the family residence while his Mother was at work and his brother was at school.    The teen who hoped to study mortuary science had dismembered Jessica Ridgeway and threw a garbage bag filled with her torso at Pattridge Park while keeping several other portions of the child’s remains under a crawlspace at the residence.   Sources inside the investigation speaking to BOC on the condition of anonymity have confirmed that not all of Jessica Ridgeway has been recovered to date.  A receipt for the garbage bags was located among the debris found at the park.  Sigg told Police he choked Ridgeway to death.  Her cause of death was asphyxiation.

Mindy Sigg called 911 on October 24th to alert Police that her son confessed.  During that call, Austin Sigg admitted to Jessica’s death at his hands, and also the attack on a female jogger at Kentner Lake.

The operator heard Austin in the background and asked to speak to him directly.

“I don’t exactly get why you’re asking me these questions. I murdered Jessica Ridgeway. I have proof that I did it,” Austin Sigg said. “You have to send a squad car down here, and I’ll answer any questions you want to ask me.”

Sigg attempted to use a homemade concoction of chloroform on a towel to overpower the woman over Memorial Day weekend and then attended a family vacation outside of the US a week later. (more…)

Phoenix, Arizona- In today’s highly anticipated morning testimony,  Jodi Arias finally “gets there”.

After weeks of what can only be described as the dog ate my defense testimony led by Kirk Nurmi,  Jodi Arias explains the events leading up to and during the murder of Travis Alexander.

Arias describes an irate and menacing Travis who bounds from the shower, causing her to drop his new camera and pouncing on her, knocking her to the wet tile floor.

“ A five year old can hold a camera better than you.” Arias stated Alexander screamed at her among other threatening expletives while she struggled to break free.

She then ran to the master bedroom closet and apparently using the Spiderman techniques she absorbed via osmosis from the alleged Valentines gift,  retrieved a gun she claimed Travis owned over two feet out of her reach while he was sprinting behind her.

She pointed the gun at him, did not realize it went off and then Travis, still coming at her, stumbles to his knees on the now bloody tile beneath him.  ( Editors Note:  As I have always said,  I believe the order of this injury is true and is important to the charges against her)

Enter gratuitous memory gap.

Although Arias admits to having flash backs,  she states she cannot remember any other details with the exception of her crouched in the bathroom covered in blood and drops a knife she believes was upstairs used by Travis to cut ropes he used to tie her up to the bed.

She did however, have the presence of mind to grab the ropes, the gun, apparently removes and loses her shoes and has no idea what happened to the knife she used to stab Alexander 29 times and slit his neck from ear to ear.

Next memory she is driving in the desert with the gun she alleges was Travis’s  when she pitches it out the window at a random location,  then puts the ropes in a dumpster behind a gas station and washes blood off her hands.

Pause for Arias innocuous driving babble and road scenery.

“Why didn’t you call 911 and tell them what happened?”  Kirk Nurmi asks his sniffling but tearless client.

” …He attacked you, why did you feel You messed up pretty badly?”

“This time it was different, he had done it before and nothing happened, it was heightened.” Responded Arias.

While approaching a check point in Utah,  she feels like she will be apprehended there.

Arias decided to do a “whole bunch of things” to cover up she was ever there.

So .. “I called his phone to leave a voice mail”.  For nearly 16 minutes she says she tried numerous times to leave a cheery voice mail  to ask as if she was not present in Alexander’s home.

“I just thought they would be listening to his voice mail, so I just thought it would throw the scent off for a while.”

Yes, she actually said that on the stand.   Defense Attorney Kirk Nurmi was observed writing a note to co-counsel Jennifer Wilmott to send an assistant out to Sam’s for an industrial size supply of Tums.

I made that part up.  Testimony continues following jury lunch break.

Minneapolis, Minnesota-  The grad student and brother of Joshua Powell, suspected pedophile and murderer of his two sons Charlie and Braden Powell jumped seven stories to his death this afternoon.

Michael Powell,   also the subject of questionable mental health with Dad and Bro-  would be the second suicide in the Powell family in 12 months, and the 5th death at the hands of a child of Terrica and Steven Powell.

Steven Powell is currently incarcerated for the taping of the  private bathroom activities of young neighbor girls.

Sound harsh?

Yes.  It is.  Not as harsh as a missing Mother somewhere in the desert while her freakshow husband and Father In Law run their mouths and terrorize Susan Cox Powell’s family.

Not as harsh as Powell’s sister Alina pocketing cash while her nephews are burning in an explosion set by their father while bleeding from hatchet wounds to their heads before their death.

This editor wishes to extend our deepest sympathies to Mrs. Jennifer Graves,   who by all accounts was an additional victim of her Father and brothers,  but a good friend to Susan Powell.

This editor suggests that Steven Powell and Alina Powell do the right thing and alert police to the whereabouts of Susan Powell so that her remains might rest with her baby boys.
