Kyron Horman Missing: New Years Eve Settlement Ends Horman Marriage
Portland, OR- In a surprise court hearing, Judge Henry Kantor signed off on the agreement between Kaine Horman and Terri Moulton Horman to end their marriage this afternoon.
Details of the agreement have not been released publicly, but according to KGW, a financial settlement to include child support and a lump payment to Terri Horman has been reached.
In what can only be described as a bitter family court feud- the divorce matter was last in court on December 16th to decide if the Horman landscaper, Rodolfo Sanchez Estrada -who alleges Terri Horman tried to hire him to murder Kaine Horman at a lunch meeting – would testify.
Judge Kantor has not yet filed an order from that hearing but Attorneys for Terri Horman were granted a continuance from the pending temporary custody motion scheduled for December 19th and 20th.

Yes, but he was not then, and to my knowledge, not active investigator would be SAR lead ( in a recovery search) to maintain the integrity of any findings and subsequent chain of custody of any evidence found. This would be protocol to eliminate the “planted evidence argument. I say this is protocol, but in reality, I do not know if MCSO follows this “best practice” -

The additional corrections deputies are to alleviate all the budget-busting overtime for corrections shifts because the can’t hire them fast enough and stays understaffed. (I bet he has high workmans’ disabilities claims feeding his personnel shortages too.) Also, part of the hiring slowness has been the background checks, so yes I’m pretty sure that’s what those hires are to do.
The budget says to me (especially the long & short term issues) that this is a County Corrections Dept that does a couple other things on the side: SAR very well and river patrol probably with huge holes. Investigations has little backing.
Kafoury et al needs to establish a single mission County Corrections Bureau to contol the budget and run the jails.
Then break the Sheriff down to 2 Depts: 1) Law Enforcement and Investigations, 2) River Patrol and SAR. And stop the automatic deputy rotation between the 2. when job opening arise, let internal & external candidates apply. Yes, this is highly political, but if Staton & his Captns didn’t lead the breakup & reorg, they could be told the Council would be sure effective, endorsed candidates would run against them for life. I doubt the Unions would fight it as long as the reorg had as many or more jobs, and a few more at the top, in a net Union win.
Kafoury however seems like the rest of them to myopically follow her pet interests only.
The time is politically ripe tho for such a reorg of County Depts.

When a County has the Sheriff workload challenges of Mult’s River and SAR, it seems sensible to have a separate Corrections Bureau staffed by a Commissioner and Corrections Officers (who are le).

My opinion/guess is Kaine/Desiree’s lack of any interaction in fall 2010ff postabduction
mirrored the same interpersonal “cutoff” preabduction. Imo they triangled Terri in as
the fulltime gobetween.

I believe the answer to your question is simple. The parents do not make the rational parenting decisions because they do not realize that parenting often means giving up your time and desires for the benefit of the child or children.
These children are left in a hot car because the parent does not want to give up their time or their agenda. Therefore, they take them to a store parking lot and lock them in. With the majority of vehicles sold today having electric windows, the children cannot roll the window down. The child is perhaps safe from physical harm of persons who might see them alone, but the heat is the enemy when zero air can get into the vehicle.
Cars and buildings when I was a child did not have air conditioning. Parents could take the child shopping and leave them in the car without fear of someone harming them. Windows were left down and doors could be unlocked for exit if necessary.
Yesterday, I got in my truck to drive to town. It had been sitting in the driveway for hours with the temperature at 95 degrees. The steering wheel was so hot it took several minutes for it to cool enough for me to comfortably touch it.
Once it was possible to leave children with family because they were living close by. Today, that is often difficult or impossible.
I think some people are too selfish to be good parents. They simply have not matured enough to make good parenting decisions.

I guess about now — well, make that 4 years ago — I would feel more comfortable about this investigation into Kyron’s disappearance if the skeletons in DY’s and KH’s closets were exposed for all to see. So far, I heard how TMH’s former in-laws thought it was extravagant or phony for TMH to give them flowers; I’ve heard that TMH was a strict mother with Kyron at times; I’ve heard that TMH went to the gym all the time; I’ve heard that she was grouchy and snappy while losing weight for a competition; I’ve heard that a roommate got pissed at her for moving furniture outside and leaving it there; I’ve heard that she has that DUI.
She sounds so awful (snark insert).

Reading OLive stories about unsupervised endangered kids, you begin to realize available abductable kids are so plentiful, to have taken one from a school as SZ did means Kyron was the specific target, or that the Planning, Preparation, School Setting, Witnesses (public nature) were all part of the high for SZ. I lean less to specific target as there were more opportune places to take Kyron specifically.

Hi Malty. Hi everyone. I just wanted to comment on this. Not so many years ago as a full-time working mom, with a hubby that frequently traveled, I was very overburdened and began suffering from severe anxiety and some depression. THANKFULLY, and by the grace of God, I never left any kids in a hot car, but I can see how it can happen. (I did once leave a kid behind at soccer practice, and she wasn’t mine!!) Parents are often over-stressed, over tired and scattered. I admit that I was often in such a state that I believe that I could have done something similar, of course unintentioanlly. It is tragic and I feel nothing but compassion for those who lose their children this horrific way, unless of course it is done intentionally. THAT is my fear – that some of these cases are intentional and copy-cats. God bless the children and parents who suffer through something like this when it is nothing but a tragic mistake.

I have no idea why Detective Gosson was pulled from Kyron’s case and I have no idea how Deputy Heron, who was SAR leader on the day Kyron disappeared became lead in this case. But, I thought I’d just throw this old information out there for ya:
7 p.m. Multnomah County sheriff’s Detective Sergeant Lee Gosson alerts Sgt. Travis Gullberg, the county’s on-call coordinator for search-and-rescue efforts, of the need to begin a formal missing persons search for Kyron.
Between 7 and 7:15 p.m. The Multnomah County Public Information Officer begins to return pages from members of the media and arranges to meet them at the school.
Between 7 and 7:45 p.m. Sheriff Dan Staton personally calls the FBI to alert them to the disappearance.
8:09 p.m. The first search teams arrive at Skyline School.
8:15 p.m. Lt. Mary Lindstrand, the PIO, arrives at the school, meets with those present, and then begins e-mailing a photo of Kyron to local television stations and The Oregonian.
8:25 p.m. The search-and-rescue coordinator, Deputy Mark Herron, arrives.

Gossom was still in charge on Aug 4 per Pitkin, tho silent. So O’Donnell at the time of the Sting, and his briefings of Kaine for the purpose of divorce with RO, was supervised by Gossom.

Pitkin makes it clear the investigative steerer is FRINK. that Staton was “nominal.”

The odd thing is how someone as bright as Kaine (although he seems a concrete, inflexible thinker imo) could sign off on this investigation the first night & following. You’d think he’d be jumping up and down screaming for PPB, who actually had legal jurisdiction. All I can think of is Staton placated him with “we’ve called the FBI.” But, victim profiling is not Investigation. I think Kaine must’ve had a provincial pov of trusting authority initially, then mcso became a necessity in custody & asset preservation.

Interesting to me is that all these deputies were pulling overtime on Kyron’s case in the first month, but Heron is not listed, nor is Ned Walls, two who are on the case now. (Or were if it’s not been classified as cold.) Also, the first month of Kyron’s case was when all the searches were being done. This really makes me wonder if there was some sort of conflict of interest which took Gosson and maybe others off the case. Would be interesting to know what exactly all these folks were doing that created all the overtime. Were they all going through the tip binders, or were they investigating TMH? How many tips were submitted in month one?

The total Kyron Horman overtime costs to taxpayers for June alone was $335,908.98. And these figures are only for the Sheriff’s Office – they do not include the district attorney or other federal, state and local agencies who contributed resources to the search for Kyron.

I believe she is working towards protecting her young innocent daughter, and not playing games like the bios did with the Kyron case. I’m sure the names have special meaning to her and maybe her children.
I think it’s highly unethical that the tawdry media has posted this information about a private citizen who has not been even named a POI or suspect in ANY case and who is the target of a very dangerous stalking machine on social networks (tho not surprised it was leaked to the Medford reporter first). It was not lost on me the OLive journalists got a soundbite from Desiree either. I did notice that Kaine wisely is abiding by the ‘legal restraint’ and replied ‘no comment’ to a request for statement.
The only path I see Terri/Claire taking is that she has been fighting FOR her children since the moment she realized Kyron disappeared. Once she realized she could not protect her own daughter from the LE led games, she had to consider her legal options. I think this name change is related to that as well.
Respectfully, I think TMH is better represented and more savvy than you are giving her credit for.

and I can agree that this awareness may open up the very real possibility that there was a SZ involved in the disappearance of KY

I think that TMH had a calculated reason for a name change, knew that someone would probably leak it, and can start over with anyone defaming her or any other sort of harassment. She will be able to change her name, imo, but if the hater crater thinks they should show up at the hearing I can promise you that nonsense will start the record so to speak. TMH has never spoken to the media, has never published anything online in her name on any issues relevant to Kyron’s disappearance- she can never be considered “a public person”.

People entering new professions change names all the time, not just acting or performance. Those wanting to blend in, be mainstream. Brokers, lawyers, businessmen. Look at Woody Allen, Don Sterling. US immigrants did and do too….from Europe in the 30s, 40s, & other countries now. To disguise ethnicity, or roots, or project an image.
I think if Desiree & Kaine had not driven Terri into the ground, she would’ve led being on Frink & MCSO’s case in the media & this case would have been solved. Imo they disabled the only effective family advocate for Kyron.

At this point, to protect society from vigilantism, avert potential violence, and protect the public from questionable fundraising, DOJ needs to investigate
wrt federal charges Co-conspirators to include those soliciting & fomenting public violence by media statements & privately-run websites & media vehicles, and raising money to fund the conspiracy.
This case has the same hate speech & money elements as ER’s Metzger case.
Might even lead to cleaning up local le & da.
At a minimum, imo coconspirators are DY, sister thru whose fingers the money flows, and the owner/publisher of the most virulent Anti FB sites who coincidently is DY & sister’s fundraising organizer. According to this article, DY does not blessings of investigators in her efforts top put pressure on TH. I wonder if the “investigative techniques” (ie., failed polys, timeline pings, the sting) originally used to try to get TH to confess have been abandoned by LE (but have waited to long to pursue other leads), and DY is the only one involved still convinced that is where the truth is.
