Kyron Horman Missing: New Years Eve Settlement Ends Horman Marriage
Portland, OR- In a surprise court hearing, Judge Henry Kantor signed off on the agreement between Kaine Horman and Terri Moulton Horman to end their marriage this afternoon.
Details of the agreement have not been released publicly, but according to KGW, a financial settlement to include child support and a lump payment to Terri Horman has been reached.
In what can only be described as a bitter family court feud- the divorce matter was last in court on December 16th to decide if the Horman landscaper, Rodolfo Sanchez Estrada -who alleges Terri Horman tried to hire him to murder Kaine Horman at a lunch meeting – would testify.
Judge Kantor has not yet filed an order from that hearing but Attorneys for Terri Horman were granted a continuance from the pending temporary custody motion scheduled for December 19th and 20th.

Look at that statement from the possibke POV of deliberatevdisinformation directed at SZ.
SZ is/was highly organized.
Parking distance and a longer path might have alarmed or discouraged Kyron or any young child.
Moreover on a longer walk, SZ could not control for who might know Kyron & stop & chat with them etc.
Too many variables on a longer route.
I appreciate your tree line analysis which is a factor.
Imo he was parked at the shortest, “hold him close” site.

By the time of his alleged abuse, Kristian was cut off from his father Kurt and that
family system. That leaves Melvin as well as Kristi’s father. Melvin seems far too controlled & far too accepted

playing with cnn on my phone, I heard the story of Rolling Stone’s retraction of the uva rape case due to a report exposing their uncorroborated reporting.
the cnn focus was on reporters’ (at Rolling Stone, presumeably) overidentification with victims, and deep empathy for them, to the extent they want victims’ stories to be true, thus fail to aggressively seek out other information. That so reminded me of Bernstein and company’s seats in the victim-bios’ deep pockets and consequent jounalism laziness and tunnel vision.
O/T: that reporter has never spoken but I think that is a soft take. This is not her first failure to disclose and a simple fact check ( ie: frat dates or individuals ever belonging to them) would have revealed there was a credibility issue. This mess set back a very important issue at a critical time for that school in particular.

SZ counld’ve circumnavigated the property with Kyron and, if stopped, or K was greeted and asked aboyt hus outside activity, SZ could have walked him back to the classroom. So any old path would do if SZ were not determined to accomplish his drive/need for a boy this day.

Thinking on, SZ was profiled to exquisitely plan. If he knew the school, he knew an event like this would have an overcrowded parking lot with overfliw parking on the muddy yucky shoulder. (Our neighborhood el ed so consumes the streets for events like this, I have been known to leave muddy tire tracks in parking on my lawn I was so frustrated there was no parking on the street for blocks & idiots block my driveway. Never underestimate where folks will park for an el ed expo.) Which does mean SZ on arrival to a crowd knew for sure no one would be in those handicapped spaces in the rear mist likely. Imo he’d plan in advance a sure spot he’d used previously. Maybe he even had a handicapped rear view mirror hanging thing.
Here’s the thing I prolly stated a few times but feel compelled to once again- profiling a single incident is a no- no. Sound odd? I know. I am just relating my protocol. So when we talk about SZ profile, we have to say that we are using best information technique, with empirical or case study overlay. Because I am.
It is my belief he had prior and extensive knowledge of the school layout to include access and egress. However, I could be wrong. He could be a lucky opportunistic offender driving past, took a chance and nabbed this child he never met before. Do I believe that based on my training, education and experience? No. That said, I could be wrong.
I say this because I never wish to preclude that one witness who may be able to provide information they either have provided and were treated poorly, or they have not out of fear and I do not want them to think it would be anything but useful. I realize that MCSO and the DA, and Kaine and Desiree have all put a highly public bullseye on Terri Horman’s back and that has already undoubtedly served to stagnate or obfuscate this investigation to the point where MCSO has not updated the public in years- but I feel a sense of responsibility to the public wrt my work on the case.

@Rose and Quizzical – Thank you both. The map with potential routes in color is very helpful. My first response was also the shortest route. I had originally thought there were more parking spaces in that back area.
It occurs to me to wonder if SZ might have had a handicapped parking tag or sticker (valid or not), and perhaps a cane or a cast or some other hint of a disability which would help to explain the OK to help. I would think something visual inside would have been noticed by witnesses, but there was a lot going on.
The vehicle tag might have been simply in case someone asked what he was doing back there and to give him a better chance to be sure of a parking place on a crowded day and, of course, where there were fewer (but not zero) witness possibilities. I guarantee you no one would have been checking the validity of parking tags in the school parking lot.

It appears to me that you can’t see there is ADA parking and a ramp behind the school unless you go there, although there could be a sign with an arrow pointing that way. I cannot imagine someone highly organized who would not thoroughly check out the site in advance – he had to have been there at least once before. I think the “once” probably would not have been the day before because even though there were a lot more people around, the timeline would be really short, plus some of the “high” is probably in planning the details.
So would he be more likely to have visited multiple times for shorter periods, either on his own or as a workman of some type, or to make one longer visit to try to cover it all? I see this as an “in person” thing, not sending a “scout”. For a stranger to walk through an entire building and not be noticed on a regular day, it seems he would have had to wear a uniform or had some explanation if/when asked. People with uniforms are not usually asked to log in if everyone knows it’s a quick, in and out job. Example: PPS plumbers there for repairs were asked to check in and out with the main office at my school, but quick delivery people (UPS, pizza, sandwich shop, etc.) were not if they knew where they were going. High school students and staff ordered a LOT of food.
I have every reason to believe SZ was quite familiar with the layout of the school- to include what doors were open and led to what parking areas.

Honestly, no offense intended, but I would not give Mr. Oakes anything to further what I consider highly unprofessional behavior from someone claiming creds he clearly does not have. And I am not saying that because he is not endorsed by LE or that I think LE SAR is primo- I don’t necessarily in this case because in my view, they lost Ky’s scent at the school if they ever had it, and they have always known he was in a vehicle in which case any hope of picking up his scent “again” without any evidence as to a possible location is futile. He knows that. And to imply ( if he did) that DY would not give him a scent article- given Ky had not been at her home in at least 2 weeks- I can tell you as a point of fact it may not have been useful in the first place. As respectful as I am about scent trained k9′s- they are not superheroes or robots- they are only as good as the material they are given and the environment they are tasked with. AND THAT is with a qualified handler.
That said, while I understand why the MCSO made Kyron’s investigation one primarily responsive of SAR- it is incongruent entirely with the contamination of the crime scene- which was Skyline.

If Kyron was seen in this area of the parking lot, and whomever saw him said they saw him near a truck, and DY said that it didn’t jive with TMH’s timeline, then isn’t it possible they were trying to find someone who parked in that area who drove a different truck?
Isn’t it also possible, that no one came forward and ever reported driving a truck and parking in this area? Therefore, Kyron being seen by a truck was either not credible after all or there was a perp in a truck parked in this area, who didn’t bother to call in. I would assume SZ would not call in.

Malty, I cannot say from a criminalist perspective as I do not know the facts of the case. Reporters salaries vary greatly based on their outlet, especially those that are formerly print and now converted to online work and whether or not they are strictly broadcast or investigative. Outside of news program anchors- it is not known as a particularly lucrative profession in contrast to some other fields.

When asked why, district officials said that it was because the school hadn’t had any attendance problems.
Largely due to Kyron’s disappearance, the Oregon legislature passed a law in 2011. It requires schools to notify parents by the end of the school day on any day that the child has an unplanned absence.
Portland Public Schools directed the Problem Solvers to its attendance handbook that says the district complies with state law.

BG teacher is still at Skyline. His teacher profile is the cheat sheet to candidate for iconoclast, oddball, ennui battler, or SZ. It was anitger male teacher who left, iirc to NM or AZ where family resided. The custodian was reassigned to another school (my bet was at his own request due to the Green Gals’ extra labor expectations), but oddly for timing in a school year) about 3 months before June 4. He only returned to help in the crisis. DS also had what he represented as a good divorce after the abduction.
What is the estimated time that SZ pulled out of the parking lot lot with Kyron And took off for ? Probably driving

Yes, and to go with your previous comment about not profiling based on a single case (if I understand that correctly), he could have had a handicapped tag in his vehicle for use any time the opportunity arose at any location he chose.
I would have no way of knowing whether he did or did not- without his identity. And even then, only if assigned to him and not that he might used anyone’s.
My ASSUMPTION is that SZ did not risk being seen leaving with Kyron. Therefore, my further assumption is that either SZ was parked in an area that obscured how ( if he did) he incapacitated Kyron or how they left undetected. I only know for certain that he exited the building with him. I pray to God LE knows more.

Skyline Boulevard, and juniper in the bank adjacent to the
parking lot, and replacing them with native plants.
Inahara, who is co-chairwoman of the Eco-School
Network, wrote grant proposals that brought in not only
an AmeriCorps volunteer, Jessica Zahn, who focuses on
reducing solid waste at the school, but also money from
Metro, the Oregon Watershed Enhancement Board and the
West Multnomah Soil and Water Conservation District for
the landscape work.
She got volunteers for the landscaping project from
Hands On Greater Portland and two Boy Scout troops.
Another big source of help comes from the school’s
custodians. “They’ve been saving garbage for us so we
can do waste audits,” Inahara says. The school also has
competitions to see which classroom can generate the least
trash; custodians help track the trash.
Zahn notes that the school just wrapped up a Styrofoam
and packing-peanut collection, as well as a round-up of
holiday twinkle lights. The lights can be recycled at Metro
Metals, and the school collects 13 cents per pound.
If you have empty ink cartridges from printers or
copiers, bring them in to the school. The last load of
cartridges, which can be re-inked and resold by retailers,
netted the school $127.
Zahn is looking to provide “party packs” to each
classroom to eliminate paper and plastic waste after
classroom parties. If you have gently used dessert plates
and cups or glasses, drop them by the school or contact
Zahn at jzahn@pps.k12.or.us. ❐

What is it used for? Does it have a side door in addition to the roll-up doors? Is it kept locked? Who has the keys?

Every time I read your disabled word I think of Ted Bundy’s tricks of arm casts crutches braces and other props
Then think this grown man goes into the school and asks for a small child like Kyron to help bring stuff in from his vehicle
And wonder did he fake some sort of disability to get a child
And that nod as though of course he needs help Yet as far as we know no one was disabled
This SZ becomes more interesting as a person thinks about how he pulled this off Everything seemed to be
So well planed or he was plain lucky
There are a lot of things that could have stopped him. But nothing happened. Amazing

Blink, I think you’ve answered this before so forgive me if you have. Was SZ witnessed after leaving the building with Kyron? Either in the parking lot or perhaps after re-entering the school?
I don’t know if he was- I did not interview anyone who claimed that, but does not mean no one did
