Posted by BOC Staff | Missing and Endangered,Robeson County Sheriffs Department,Sara Nicole Graham | Saturday 7 February 2015 10:22 am

Fairmont, NC-  Sarah Nicole Graham, 18, was last seen by family members leaving home for her morning shift at Walmart at 6:30 AM Thursday February 4th.    Graham is the daughter of Robeson county sheriffs deputy.

Sarah Graham

“There were no signs of struggle,” Robeson County Sheriff Kenneth Sealey said Friday. “The vehicle looked like it was just pulled up there and parked, and the vehicle was locked when we arrived.”- Kenneth Sealey
Sarah Graham’s van was found abandoned at approximately noon, 5 hours past the time of the start of her shift with no signs of forced entry and was clearly visible from the road.
Anyone with information about Graham’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office at 910-671-3170.

I am sorry but this looks like a well planned hit on this child. I can not think of any other case I’ve seen where the risk factors are not there. There is a reason that this is so clean and so baffling.

I can’t think of another scenario that includes 2 people- and in my view, there had to be 2 people. (men)
Why hasn’t the color of her vehicle been released and why hasn’t LE set up a roadblock in the timeframe as I previously recommended? I promise y’all- that is investigative 101 in any similar circumstance.

The native Americans in Robeson County make up nearly 40 percent of the population and occupy the swampland area in the SE portion of the county. These are people who hid during the time in the early 19th century when the resettlement of Indians was accomplished. There were many Indians that occupied North Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi and Arkansas who escaped the relocation by hiding.

The United states does not recognize the Eastern band of Cherokee, but the State of North Carolina does. I would think that the county sheriff and state police have access to the tribal areas. If the Indians wanted to hide Sara, they would certainly know how to do it.

I think the Sheriff in Robeson County is still reeling from the effects of “Operation Tarnished Badge” and lacks the manpower with knowledge to make the investigative efforts suggested by Blink. The county population is about 135,000 and I missed the size of the county earlier. It is a little over 900 sq.mi with a density of 136 people per sq.mile.

Imo, bc there would be zero vehicles in either direction.

If one grants this disappearance was executed with military precision, imo it could have as easily been executed by former military as local disgraced deputies. Where is mother returning from? Why no quotes from her?

I have only seen where she alerted FB friends that online communications were being monitored. She was returning from Italy, but I don’t know what her orders were/are.

I don’t know that I would say that her disappearance qualifies as military precision per se- but I do believe it was organized.

    Hello TGF-
    Thanks for yr valued input-

I think you might of been trying to speak to the Lumbee tribe with this statement:
“The United states does not recognize the Eastern band of Cherokee, but the State of North Carolina does”

TGF the Eastern band of Cherokee are the ONLY NC tribe FULLY recognized by the US government They are a sovereign nation

The Lumbee tribe which is the largest tribe in North Carolina is a state recognized tribe with partial federal recognition because of the Lumbee Act of 1956.The Lumbee are 1 of 8 state-recognized Native American tribes in North Carolina

To clarify I was not trying to point fingers at any Native American whther federally recognized or not-

    My concerns were
1 that LE had not reached out to the QBT that is commonly referred to as the Cherokee Indian Reservation- to ask for assistance in
    a passing out fliers
    b looking for Sara
    c conducting interviews etc

2 concerns relate to whether or not Sara/parents may have had on the QBT
    a friends
    b family
    c love interest
    d enemies

Many people frequent parts of the land For Ex those wishing to visit the casino the museum etc

The tribal police may work frequently with the surrounding counties LEA- still that does not mean they have thought to pass out fliers or include them in on the search or that those outside LEA have access to all tribal lands in order to search or conduct interviews themselves etc

Thanks for helping me to better clarify my thoughts

ps TGF I tend to agree w/yr reasonings on lack of manpower etc

    Very interesting thought Ode-

Blink- without revealing sources are you concerned at all with where the van is parked as it would relate to a resident of dwelling relative possibly as a message/reminder
or are you just wondering specifically about the fact that Dad chose not to bring van home to park?

My best friend Sara Graham is missing. I got a call from the sheriff’s office in her county this afternoon because I’m the last one to talk to her. She spent the night with her family last night but she never made it to work. Her car has been found but she has not been. Please help she is about 5’4″ and has a tattoo on her leg of flowers on a vine wrapping up from her foot. Here is a photo of her too. She lives in Fairmont North Carolina if you know anybody that lives near there please tell them to be on the look out. The sheriff’s office is staying in touch with me so if you know anything please tell me so I can tell them. Thank you. Please help us find her.

wrt “I have only seen where she alerted FB friends that online communications were being monitored. If set to private, the onkly possible monitors are law enforcement or the military or an intelligence agency. And it would have been occasioned by the abduction. And what could she and possible private message senders have to hide from investigators. And if kidnapping for ransom, why warn?

I have interviewed a few people close to her who do not wish to be on the record and most of her friends are around her age so I agree with that position. From what I can tell- I cannot find a soul who is aware of any sort of bully- argument, person she did not get along with, etc. According to those sources Sara was also happy living with her Dad and family. She liked being around an extended family as she never had that before. Sara is her Father’s only biological child.

Not sure what to make of that Blink- sadly sounds ominous

Is the not so neutral answer less ominous?

I have been pondring over concerns IRT the flier/parents not sharing a better description of what Sara was wearing- other than Walmart Blue vest

-Beginning August 2014, a “Dress for. Success” policy brought about a dresscode for Walmart employees

black or khaki pants and collared, short-length white or navy shirt w vest and closetoed shoes

Not all stores are strict about the policy however and allow workers to also wear blue jeans etc

Anyway that might narrow down exactly what Sara was wearing

looking at Sheriff Sealys Facebook page
it has Saras flier and if you scroll down there are other photos to include The -December 20. Shop With a Cop event which took place at the Pembroke Walmart note employees attire: vest is dark blue

The quietness by all parties on this missing girl is unnerving. Other than dad’s comments to news people on Wednesday when they had the volunteer search, no pleas for her return by any family. I think of Kelli Bordeaux’s family’s numerous heartbreaking statements before the media, Kyron’s folks in the very early days, so many others…nothing here, zilch, nada, zip. The Robesonian paper has had only a few articles. Sheriff’s FB has only had a few posts/her poster. Looking at the FB pages on the Scared Monkeys link at the beginning of this thread–Bio mom’s FB status shows her military service thru July 2014. Whether that means she’s done or not, who knows. Her final FB words about communications being monitored is very odd to me. At least she has the missing poster up. I saw a picture on Sara’s FB page of a young man’s bday party at a restaurant in Temple TX, from 2013. She’s sitting at a table with bio mom, a man, and a little girl, who is pictured heavily on bio mom’s FB. Little sister? Is the fella new husband/boyfriend, I wonder? The dad and stepmom FB page doesn’t even have Sara’s missing poster up. Why on earth is everyone being so quiet about this girl disappearing??!! Just my swirling thoughts as I stir a big pot of chicken soup chock full of carrots, onions, celery, organic chicken, and whole wheat noodles in prep for the incoming winter blast central NC is expecting tomorrow night.

The little girl is her little sister and the man is her older brother Brian.
I too find it odd that the her Dad and step Mom FB page does not have her missing poster-

    Blink,
You mention that this could be a team of 2 men. I can see that. But if someone used the trick of a disabled vehicle, it would seem to me that a lady would be more likely to stop for a woman, than a man. (UNLESS, it was a man she knew.) A team of a man and woman?

What seems to make this situation unique is that not only is it a small community, but she has only been there for a short time. That would seem to indicate that the circle of the folks she knows is small. The only thing that might change that is if she spent the summers and/or holidays with her father as part of a visitation agreement. Then that would expand the circle somewhat.

Thanks. I hope this is solved soon and with her back at home.

She did not spend Holidays with her Dad and extended family- she spent very little time with her Dad at all until she turned 18. I would agree with you that she had a very small social circle outside of her family.

    B

  16. Rose says:

Would not an angry noncustodial father access the Dad’s records & perhaps observe his house for occupants?
    No.
Without being more specific- there are a few reasons why they would not. That’s not to say they could not “end up there”- But it would not be without some effort.

If winter wheat is planted (most likely) it would be grassy green this time of year, soft with no head or stalky stem.

As to the lack of concern displayed by the family, that is a idea that has been inferred by faulty consideration, I believe, of some Facebook remarks and possibly by a social media group formed to promote finding Sara. Some of the dad’s remarks concerning her return may have also been taken out of context. It must be such an awful time for the family.

  20. GraceintheHills says:

Does anyone know why Sara decided to move in with her Dad and stepmom at this point in her life? Was she involved in a relationship in Texas? Had she had words with any other Walmart employee? Was a coworker interested in her? Had she ever been stalked?

Another possibility is being pulled over by an individual posting as LE. Why do some of you think it was two men? So many woman that get abducted are taken by perps acting alone. Of course, there is always the chance that she was targeted. LE has a lot to look into.

Just a hunch I have, but I don’t think this is connected with corrupt cops.

Grace- always great to see you.
I do know that Sara had been having some issues with her Mom that she felt moving away was the best option. That is not a disparaging comment about her Mother- we all know Mom’s and Dau’s have a natural level of conflict in the teen years as it is- “add in” the issue of a deployed military Mom with a toddler sibling sis.

Sara had not spent any time with her Dad in eight years, and I can say that her 18th birthday gave her the freedom to do that.

To my knowledge, Sara had a co-worker ask her out about a month ago. She did discuss this with a few friends, and was considering what that might “look like”. The gentleman was a fellow Walmart cashier and has been interviewed and cleared. Sara was not one for the dating scene, but by all accounts was a very, very kind and lovely young lady. She was not tied to social media like many girls her age are- and she actually just purchased a new pet which brought her great joy.

I agree the possibility of an offender posing as LE has not been excluded- but with 23 convicted deputies in this police force, almost ALL of which are still neighbors to the Grahams- I cannot rule out the possibility it is legacy related- and I surely would like to.

  23. Rose says:

@Linda. I think there is one person here with very detailed posts about a tribal heritage. Without reading all of it I gathered her intent was to suggest a heritage tribal entity or government might be willing to help in the search. As far as her father goes, he has been treated on this site as a nice & griefstricken man. There has been speculation someone with revenge ideas due to his job might have done this.

  24. Rose says:

wrt “Here’s the thing that concerns me. If one were to try and access property records of interested parties names, etc, they would not have gotten her home address. KWIM?”
Actually, I don’t. But I guess it means someone either followed her home from Walmart & knew her work schedule, or followed Dad home from work & observed the house, or formerly worked as a deputy with Dad. I go with Door 1.
Does this area have the meth population of Bobo’s TN or Chambers’ MS?

I brought up the topic to ask if tribal police were involved. I think it might be important to include this police force in the group of law enforcement agencies that are working with the LEA in Robeson to bring Sara home

To answer your question more directly Linda, I dont think anyone here knows the exact “what” that has to do with Saras disappearance-

Does Saras disappearance have something to do with her parents jobs, someone they arrested? … Does the disappearance involve something with Saras job … an abduction by a complete stranger who shared that route…. or? sadly none of us here least of all me have the answers to the “what” & whys of Saras disappearance.

We dont know Sara, we dont know her family or her friends. We are going from brief news snippetss and speculation only to try and help .. So I and others sincerely are appreciative of your post/info Thank you Linda for giving us an insight.

I am sorry if you felt the need to defend your family, your cousin and her father.

I dont think anyone here brought up any possible scenario with the intention to disparage or hurt you and yours. I hope if you are reading this comment you now realize race was not brought up to hurt or even as an answer to what may have happened to Sara.

    Having said that-
I dont wish to add to your heartache Linda, but in an effort to gain a better understanding if I may kindly ask you Linda, has “race” been ruled out as a factor in Saras disappearance?

I know the Lumbee tribe once had the KKK running scared- could a crazed KKK follower have targeted the Lumbee Sheriffs daughter to regain some dignity over that long ago loss?

What about the long running argument between some Cherokee and the Lumbee over the Lumbees fight for recognition- has that been put to rest or are there still those who harbor hatred?

The wheat shouldn’t interfere with the search and recovery at this time of year despite the weather. The plant is pretty small and sparse and there should be ground showing through. It wouldn’t be solid like a lawn.

OT @ Blink. You’re right, he was Centre Cty prison warden from late 80s to early 2000s.
I can’t find when he left in the 2000s, why, or if they’re still married but it looks not.
She’s up for election again this year.

  37. Inda says:

Of course she could have spoken to someone in person, waved at a neighbor, cursed at a dog. I wonder if the place bothered to check.

Very remote area, no close neighbor to exchange pleasantries but to my knowledge the only witness to see her leave the home is her step mom. A cell analysis would show if the fact that it was turned off the night before was relevant, however, interviews I have had establish that she had texts or live conversations later at night on a regular basis, fwiw.

    place s/b police

  39. Inda says:

Rose, does that mean contacting the Sheriff’s department is not a good idea in this case? That’s the sense I get from what you said. If not what would a person do if they had some information?

  40. Jane says:

Would LE have checked the parents’ and any other’s phones and computers who were in the home that night?

It is my understanding they have and have found nothing relative to her disappearance.

  41. Rose says:

I was suggesting Father, based on Sheriff’s level of competence & motivation, retain an attorney (criminal one, OR a politically connected one who’d do it pro bono for publicity & perhaps a future tort) to ask the FBI Field Office for NC take over the case due to at least 2 conflicts of interest the Sheriff’s Dept has.
If I personally had info, I’d give it jointly to Sheriff & FBI Field Office. If it put me in danger, I’d give it to FBI only.
But Blink is the expert on who to give stuff to. In fact you coukd probably give it to her privately & she coukd pass it on anonymously as to you.

  42. Jack says:

Blink – Are you aware of any updates in this case? Seems strange to me that the last article I can find online is from over two weeks ago.

Not a one. Nada. And nobody is excepting interviews

Can I reach you at this email?

    :+Rose+:
Thank you for your comments and suggestions, your humor and wit, and especially for answering my questions. You must be Blink’s evil twin, am I right?

On this case I have especially enjoyed your comments. Your advice to the father goes over my head but still sounds good. What I especially liked was your suggestion to search the crawlspace attic of all the offenders on whom the father has served papers.

Thank you Blink for all you do around here and for allowing me me express my thanks to Rose.

  45. Jane says:

Is Sara’s mother now in North Carolina? Are there any active searches going on?

I do not believe she is. Not that are being reported publicly, no.

  46. A Texas Gramdfather says:

I am beginning to think that LE has a good idea of what happened and are simply keeping quiet until they find Sara.

There you are! I dunno why but I was worried about you the last few days.

I am inclined to agree with you that they have a theory.

  47. GraceintheHills says:

    This case is so sad.
Where is Sara? I hope LE knows more than we do and has a suspect in mind.

You and me both Grace- I am leaning toward that- but no confirmation

O/T:Not all VP- I am just the worrying kind for no reason at all on occasion :)

That is thrilling news for you. My Great Grand ( Poppa’s Dad) was a conductor and had a big band orchestra way before my time after he served in Europe in WWI. I would post some of his promo shots but as you can guess given the time period they are less than politically correct- as an example one of the sign of their performance on the stage said “Buy a War Blonde”. LOL I’m sure you get the play on words of blonde v bond.

When I was a kid, he drove to my Poppa and Grams one weekend unannounced and pulled up in some jallopy pick up he borrowed with an open coffin with a dummy in the back. We were all beaning each other with mulberries as per usual when he pulled up and when we all started screaming my Mom yelled outside- “Pappy’s here come and wash up for dinner.” LOL. I had forgotten that until just now. I hope you keep me posted on the progress

    xoxo

@Blink. photo of father / Sara shows his gaze of paternal adoration.
Imo might be hard for wife 2 with her own progeny. mite feel displaced.
Any comment on those potential familial dynamics?

I am not aware of any animosity between Sara and her step mom although I agree with you given the circumstances it is a worthy conversation.
I cannot get past my thought that LE has a theory they are not sharing.

  50. Jack says:

Blink – are you following the murder of Allison Feldman in Scottsdale?

Yes Jack. Offender was known to her. I wish I had time to write on her case- in my view, there is a chance that the offender will contemplate suicide and time is of the essence. They know who he is.
