Dr. Phil Show Hosts Missing Portland Child Kyron Horman’s Step Mom Terri Horman Over Two Episodes

I have been covering this case since Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline School in June, 2010.    Like most missing persons cases I have covered in the past,  I am of the strong opinion that best efforts at the truth are the only way to propel investigations that, similarly to Kyron’s, have gone cold for one reason or another.   This approach has worked in resolving some of my previous cases.    I am proud of that.  I remain steadfast to the integrity involved in those and future cases.

Over the past 10 months (or so) I have been developing an updated series on Kyron’s case to include my multiple interviews with Kyron’s step-mom,  Terri Horman.   Needless to say as she was the subject of at least three simultaneous cases before an Oregon court and remains a person of interest by the agency investigating her sons disappearance, this has been an arduous and sometimes delicate journey.    Ms. Horman’s experiences during the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman are critically important to propelling his case and with great hope- finding the truth about what happened to this cherubic and innocent child.    There are dozens of sources,  collateral interviews, forensic experts and legal analysts that also contribute to my series and have done so because of their belief that my motivation is to bring to light information and opinions in such a way that would almost “require” a focused review of Kyron’s case and the likely shaking of that proverbial tree everyone talks about.

Set to publish about 6-ish weeks ago I was asked to postpone the first installment of the series, which I did.  I subsequently learned Ms. Horman was participating in the Dr. Phil program after she completed taping.  Dr. Phils producers were well aware that Ms. Horman had interviewed with me extensively, and anticipated my series would be publishing information that was not known to the public previously in the days prior to her scheduled episode.    When Ms. Horman conveyed to me that she feels obligated to speak out about “her son” in any national medium that will have her,   I most certainly respected that.  I still do.

While Dr. Phil seems like a gregarious fellow for sure,   I have zero interest in being associated with his program, nor do I believe his shows content is designed to do any furtherance of investigation or truth.  There is much concern (although I have no affiliation to the show whatsoever) that the timing of the publication of my series on the Kyron Horman matter might be interpreted differently or inadvertently contribute to the programs content or audience reactions.     Not what I signed on for.   A missing 7 year old boy six years running is not a framework for entertaining a target audience.   He is not fodder for online social media bully campaigns- yet it occurs.

I will be publishing my series on Kyron’s case at a later date, in it’s entirety with no editing adjustments as a result of any of the appearances on Dr. Phil.   I appreciate your patience and your understanding.   Feel free to discuss the show below.

Good gosh. Just Right. And let the crazies play out.

And Reese, Gates, Shults, Reiser, Levi, Kafoury, Leonard, and Saltzmann, fish, Moawad, Underhill, Rees, shoukd step up explaining the past 6 years of coverup and failure.

One thing we know, despite the O’s new Editoral page’s Laura Gunderson’s avowals that Oregonians demand transparency (Saltzmann editorial yesterday), the O and other local media have failed wholly to seek and publish transparent, non-investigation jeopardizing facts time after time for 6 years and have knowingly published lies (ie, ” last known person to see kyron”). Maxine B should have a Red S for “spurious stuff” on her byline.

I haven’t watched Dr. Phil in years. I don’t know if I can stomach watching this although I really want to know what Terri has to say. Decisions decisions.

The first show I have ever seen I taped last week. Fwiw, Terri held her own. Phil was fair and listened well. At one point, even compassionate to her reminder that she loved Kyron as her own son- she was part of his life at 3 days and this is her loss as well.

    He hammers her tomorrow.

@TRuth re yr Q on last thread. K’s K teacher, S MacBeth, was downstairs next door to Esther Matgews, tge K teacher who OK’d him going outside to “help” a male stranger carry something in. Doubtless when Terri K and k went to MacBeth’s room, K saw something next door in Mathews’ he wanted to return to.

How can Phil excoriate Terri for not “speaking” in 6 years but not rake Mathews the PPS employee
who let him go oytside with an unknown male over the proverbial coals for not telling what she witnessed to all and sundry? Her pension is vested. The Statute of Limitations to sue her has past. Why is no one interviewing the last known teacher to see Kyron who said he could go outside with Suspect Zero, a stranger to both of them?

    To be addressed in piece.

The biggest news for me was that the science fair was Thursday and not Friday. DY had not been at the school since the first day of kindergarten…tsk tsk…what about graduation from kindergarten as well as first grade graduation. Big deals in my family. Shame on Phil for not playing Kaines response to DY about the “emails”. I actually understand now where Terri was standing…the top of the stairs where the ones going down to the door where the busses where. She was on the same floor as Kyron’s classroom. Is it true that there are no cell towers on Sauvie Island? Someone said that Dr. P stated in an interview that she did not appear deaf to him…not direct quote..I noticed when Dr. P went up to the map she cocked her head when she could only see his back and he began speaking. The ending was just crappy editing but what would one expect.

What response to DY from kaine on the emails? I may have missed that.
Terri is not deaf but she definitely is hearing impaired in one ear and uses a hearing amplifier at times. All her kids know sign language- how much proof does one need, lol?
Agreed, I caught her when Phil turned around and if you watched she does not respond until he turns back around and speaks.

It is absolutely true there are NO cell towers on Sauvie. Hows that for genius investigating? We go into way more detail.

I’d love to know what the true incentive is of shows like Dr. Phil & the made for tv investigation of JBR’s murder. It comes across as counter productive, when ‘professionals’, are implying it all went down just like this… or he said, she said…and playing affected people against each other (or in Kyron’s case, exasperate the animosity). How do these programs HELP the victims?

IMO, it doesn’t, except create lynch mobs who don’t ask their own questions or look for proof behind info. presented. Taking it at face value, (media, Dr. Phil, etc) produces fear mongering, diversions from the truth and so forth. At the end, nothing has changed or been revealed, for greater good of these cases.

For Kaine to forgo a suit against PPS and Porter utterly failing to

Kyron outside with a stranger male, Kaine must have had big motivation over and above steroids because a several mill payout in a juror-sympathetic tort case woukd’ve meant no more need to work at Intel anyway, and a paid off house. One thing Terri should have had in mind, when DDS spoke in interview (with BOC) she had

    That is NOT Terri’s posture

To talk on Natl TV having never done a depo, a GJ, a clear poly results in writing, and so on imo jeopardizes her imo, & she is Kyron’s only real advocate. She’s pulled every leg of a 3 cornered stool out from under her defense attorney’s negotiating position by doing so. Imo now she will never get her true poly results in writing. She’s thrown away Houze’ leverage imo. penny wise, pound foôlish imo. .

On Dr P part one – the story hasn’t changed from what I was told by TH. The timeline (directly on clock) is not of much matter to me, as TH never had firm times… she doesn’t wear a watch. I’m still watching it here, but I wish this had all come out long ago, and I know I tried to argue when people would get it wrong, but I was deemed the ‘loonie’ or even accused of being involved. Kaine Horman denied the fighting and said that was one of many lies Terri Horman told.

My child goes to a school with a sign in – sign out policy.. If he is late and hadn’t signed in, I get a call. (We’re raising a procrastinator).

I still don’t get how his teacher didn’t notice his absence that day.
Not faulting him/her…but was attendance not taken?

Overall, in my wee brain, LE wanted to wrap this up, and took control of what the evidence would be. I cannot fathom short cuts, interference, and manipulationin of the investigation were the goals, in exchange for the safety of a missing child.

WAtching KVAL news immediately after the show, they have a body language expert talking about her… accusing her of having some sort of anger showing in her face… says she says she’s lying. What this ‘expert’ doesn’t know is that TH has quirky mannerisms to begin with. She closes herself off much faster now, especially in ‘hostile territory’ than the normal person would.

I can say, knowing her facial expressions in person, that she naturally over emotes facially. The furrowed brow is a natural look when she is listening. And yes, she does have anger about what has happened to her and her family. Especially about LE and DY’s false accusations, especially since she really does see herself as Kyron’s ‘real mom’.

I am looking forward to reading YOUR interviews and take on this Blink. I think it sucks that yours got scooped by such a douchebag right down there with Jerry Springer (IMO) and that I was really hoping yours would be published sooner than now.

I agree that getting Kyron’s name out is key to finding him. And that finding him is what will clear TH’s name. I do NOT believe she could harm Kyron. And I do think this will help SOME people realize she is innocent, but the folks who have spent the last 6+ years trashing here will only find more ammo to continue (just like the KVAL reporters who immediately followed Part 1 of the interview on DPhil.)

I do not think TH will catch a break from either bio. They have too much invested in trashing her, and whitewashing their own picket fences… I wish she’d spoken out about Kaine venting about his own lie detector test results. And I wish she’d made it clearer that her driving around was only about 20 mins, which included diaper changes and feedings along the way. I also wonder why she didn’t bring up anything about the interactions with Ms Matthews and SZ… or maybe that will come out tomorrow, when she becomes the media monster again (DPhil likes salacious stuff so will probably emphasize the sexting she did (without bringing up they were out of context), but likely will not even broach the fact KH was seeing his long time mistress after Kyron vanished). Ahhh well… People need to look for Kyron. And we need a BETTER progressive pic of him at age 14!

And I never thought about it before, KH knowing TH was having woes in the marriage would be the biggest red flag for him to get ‘rid’ of his own son. He could never give up a child to a mother figure… IMO

Ms. Horman has an open invitation to speak with MCSO. B
    ——————————————

I do not know about Skyline School, but I do know that PPS had sign in/out sheets in some, if not all, schools at every level as long ago as 1986. Visitors went to the main office, some schools had student attendance secretaries who may or may not have been in the main office. I wore school ID but even with that and being on official business, I still had to sign in and out of every school I visited, also as a parent from elementary on. Students who entered or left at other than designated times were expected to go through the office.

I don’t know that anyone in administration ever checked up on any principal to evaluate the success of the procedures. The fact that there were differences between schools became clear when it was said that the auto-dial system would no longer be optional for schools after 2010.

In 1986, my high school had seven fires caused by an arsonist (FBI had description) and a few copycats. Students went from laughing to anger at having their classes disrupted. I patrolled back halls of the 4-floor building with a small radio and wondered at night what I’d do if I ran into the arsonist. Fortunately, I never did.

However, the point here is that we really pushed the sign in/out and insisted teachers take their attendance books when they exited with their classes. Over and over, we said to the staff and students, what if a firefighter is hurt or dies trying to find and rescue someone who isn’t even at school! We have to account for everyone. (same with earthquakes)

Just because we don’t see someone following or enforcing the policies doesn’t mean the policies aren’t there. In some ways, we all fall short.

I started teaching in Kentucky and the money for each district was based on student attendance. Teachers didn’t leave for the month/year until their attendance book was correct – and you didn’t get paid. When I moved to Oregon, attendance monitoring seemed very loose compared to what I was used to. It was more enrollment-based and there were no penalties or records to match up. I hate to say money was more of an incentive (than the child’s well-being) to know where every child was at any given time, but . . .

on promo excerpt, Terri says Portland LE is “politicalky” adjusting and people want to keep their jobs.
Unfortunately, for kyron and herself, things are worse. Reese is the Chief who did not declare the
school a crime scene and take jurisdiction, which he absolutely was supposed to do by intergovernmental contract between the County, PPS, and PPB but left it to the le agency without detective resources. . So his no 1 coverup incentive is for his own self and PPB. And Marshman is his buddy.
As long as Reese has the sextet of Kafoury, Underhill, Barker, Fish, Saltzmann, and Leonard in his corner, he’ll coverup til the moon is blue. Kafoury and Krew don’t give a fig wrt kyron’s abduction compared to homelessness, housing, govt services, and the budget. And iirc Leonard was in a CC position of power in 2010 and has plenty to cover up re the 2010 misspent investigation monies, as does Underhill. There won’t be a political correction benefitting kyron imo.

I am bringing rose’s comment forward because IMO she’s on to something here. We have always wondered why PPB did not handle this case as they were contracted to and should have. Perhaps the steroid link was not between KH/Gym and MCSO, but actually between KH/Gym and PPB, so a bow-out was legally necessary for PPB? Just a thought.

Well, the episode brought me nothing new other than the fact that Kyron wanted to go and say Hi to his former teacher before they left the sci-fi meandering part. Macbeth apparently had Kyron in both kindergarten and first grade. Would love to hear TMH expand on his relationship with him, but doubt it will ever be heard. Only other thing was that TMH also visited a craft store on June 4. What else, if anything new, did you all get?

I think back to TP’s comment, when he said Kyron was off to see the “cool one” and wonder now if SM is the one who may have told Kyron about it. Could have been anyone, but obviously Kyron had not seen it himself, so **SOMEONE** told him about it. That’s ***IF*** TP’a recollection was accurate, and I have no reason to believe it was not.

I hope someone asks somebody abut the *cool electric one*.

Yes. As in, someone in Porter’s classroom, which he entered after parting with his step mom in the hall. The first bell rang when they were in MacBeths room for timeline purposes.

    imo he’s capable of anything.

Obviously I have known this for a year so my mind was blown long ago on this point, but more because there is more to that timeline – its even more bizarre. We cover this in the interview.

It also blew my mind that the SF was the day before!

As happens a lot with these interviews- being able to expand on a point is impossible. The Science Fair was on June 4th, however, the accompanying presentations that were SUPPOSED to occur during the Science Fair occurred during the school day on 6/3/10. Terri was not informed of this until she dropped Kyron off June 4th. If you recall Kyron’s bridge presentation, same thing- the only reason Terri was able to record that was that she happened to email Porter about it and got a whole 15 min notice or she would have missed it.
