AMBER ALERT: NEVAEH BUCHANAN, JAMES P EASTER NEW POI BURNED EVIDENCE FOUND

Monroe, MI- Last evening a 3rd individual was taken into custody by the MPD after an extensive search at the 1520 Oak St. home of James P Easter.
Easter, 64, is said to frequent the Charlotte Arms Apartments; the last place 5 year old Nevaeh Buchanan was seen, where she resided with her mother Jennifer and her Grandmother.
Police removed numerous bags of evidence from the scene, which included remnants from a burn pit. Neighbors have desribed him as “very odd” , and some have stated they have seen him sit in the “kiddie pool” section at the neighborhood pool, and therefore would not let their children near him.
Sheriff Crutchfield, Chief of Monroe PD, indicated in a very brief press conference this morning that Easter began burning things in his backyard within 5 minutes after returning from their interview with him. He is being held for undisclosed reasons.
Monroe Police are asking for the publics help in locating two youg boys, named Dillon and Ryan, approximate ages 7 and 10, who were playing at the playground they day Nevaeh went missing. They would like to speak to them regarding anything they may have seen. Â
There are 6 registered sex offenders with the last name Easter on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry, James P is not one of them.

Why are there so many sex offenders in and around the area where Nevaeh Buchanan lives? It’s a small town, just 22,000 people live there. I don’t understand the high concentration of sex offenders around this little girl’s home.
There is something horrible going on in this child’s family & community. Poor Nevaeh. Her druggie mother associates with registered sex offenders, admits she knows about their records. The Justice system refuses to revoke the parole of one of those sex offenders when probation reports inform the judge of a violation of his stipulation to not engage in a romantic relationship with a woman with children. Her own father (who lives less than 25 miles away) hasn’t seen her or paid child support in over two years.
This is so disgusting.
Good God! In my heart I know she’s probably not with us anymore and I hope that this is the creep with the answers! There are too many children missing with loose ends. SO laws need changing and us parents need to get a grip on our kids. I’m so overprotective it’s sickening but I know where my child is at all times and he’s in my eye view. You can’t be too careful now. Be a parent, not a friend and don’t let your personal life get in the way of the fact that we brought these children into this world!!!! Take responsibility for them now! They deserve it!
Is it true about a friend of Easter, that lives in Easter’s neighborhood, that the police spoke to also? Also, does the mom know this man, since he goes to the apt. to take care of an elderly person?

Blink, Was LE “watching” him after the interrogation to know he started burning stuff so soon after returning home? Also, do you know if any evidence was saved before it was destroyed?
All I know is there were no warrants executed on that property PRIOR to him burning, so its possible he destroyed something. The issue I have is, why wait till your questioned to burn evidence?

Actually, to be more pointed about post #6…it’s clear any evidence with blood or DNA would be what this non-human burned. Those are the articles of evidence I would hope they were able to save. Do you have any idea if DNA can be extracted after being burned? I have to wonder if any of the items he put into the pit belonged to Nevaeh?
Yes , it can. However, while I believe there will be discernable evidence from the “Pit”, honestly, for a “layperson” it is next to impossible to burn a human body leaving no evidence that is obvious to a trained forensic person. God forbid, if he tried to burn this child, they would know it by now.

Blink…thx for your answers. As for keeping evidence related to a crime, you and I..and probably most of the posters in here know that criminals often keep items that belonged to their victims so they can relive the event in their minds. So corrupt! Glad to know DNA can be retrieved from that pit. We live in the mtns, and many folks burn alot of their trash because they live so far out and don’t have trash pickup. I know from burning at our campsite alot of stuff survives (cans and whatnot) depending on how hot the fire got and where the items were in the pit.

Blink, I wonder what percentage of the total number of sex offenders are actually on the national registry. My guess is that the number is very, very low.
These predators are so good at deception, I wonder how many are caught and stand trial. That number is probably low, too.
The shame associated with this heinous crime keeps its victims from reporting it.

I have not followed this Case as I should due to this Little Girl is within my Area. Last I knew that MOM and ” Boyfriend” failed their Poly’s – I am not sure if this is rumor or truth. I did see on my local news that BF is a ” SO”… NICE. That a another Man who is a POI had a knife/tool and clothing with blood stains in LE Search. Not much News is to be found. I read today that the Blood was inconclusive in testing – that it did not Match ” Nevaeh” … Who’s blood IS it? was it ? GASP … has never said to be a SQUIRREL so I am guessing its Human blood

I live in Monroe. These are just rumors I have heard about Easter…He was a non-registered sex offender that had moved here. He got arrested for that and for burning things in the city.
Neighbors had complained about him starting several small fires in his back yard lately.
His on again/off again girlfriend lives at Charlotte Arms where Naveah lives. They had just recently broken up. She called police because she claims he has been acting funny the last few days and he’s been out to her apartment.
Now my mother-in-law has know the girlfriend her whole life, plus lives about 6 house down from Easter. She said she doesn’t really know him, but the girlfriend lies a lot and wouldn’t put it past her to lie on him to get him in trouble since she is already mad at him.
Jennifer, her grandma and brother came to my church last night and we had a special prayer for them and Naveah. It was really emotional. The brother was breaking down a lot, and the grandmother had to be helped back to her seat. I’m not trying to start anything or suggest anything, but Jennifer only cried a little and acted like she didn’t want to be there. I chalk it up to the fact that since this mess, she can’t live her party life any more, scout around for heroin (which is why she got arrested for burglary to begin with), and now has to focus on this. Plus she probably feels guilt for letting this happen.
Oh, and witnesses from the neighborhood when his house was getting searched said that they saw porn magazines being taken from his house. That’s all they saw because it was in boxes.
Another rumor is that some little girls clothes were found at the UAW hall in Monroe and that someone took the license plate number of the truck that was seen leaving the hall, and it was traced back to Easter.
ChooChooMama states that James P. Easter is a “non-registered” sex offender??? What does that mean? Under what circumstances does a convicted sexual deviant/predator not have to register with the national sex offender registry in Michigan?
What is it going to take for America to wake up to the fact that our laws punishing sex offenders are wholly inadequate and insufficient? How many innocent children must be abused, suffer and die before the laws are strengthened to put these animals behind bars for the rest of their lives? It’s beyond obvious now that these laws are failing to protect us.
I do NOT like Jennifer’s constant use of the word “was” when referring to Nevaeh.
I believe if Nevaeh’s body was in that pit, gen public would already know her remains had been found. Remember not too long ago that military guy killed his pregnant GF who turned out NOT to be pregnant with his child? He killed her and tried to burn her in a pit in his backyard where her remains and the unborn child’s were located. Imagine what his WIFE felt after finding this poor woman’s body was only feet from her home? That news was published quickly.
As for Jennifer not showing much emotion, my gut says she, like Casey Anthony and Melissa Huckaby, is only grieving for herself. Had she ever cared for her daughter, the SO wouldn’t have been around in the first place!
An another subject, but related….that idiot who had given us death threats often camped on the property below ours (he’s no longer welcome there either and threatened that land owner too…his uncle!). Anyway, he had brought a registered SO up there to camp with him for a weekend. A childhood “friend”. My husband and I went up there and because I frequent the SOR site I knew who the scum was…he molested his girlfriend’s 2 little girls. Anyway, the idiot who threatened us told us both that he had “taken his friend on a tour of our land”. I told my husband who it was off to the side and he “invited” the SO to go for a walk. My husband told me later that he told the SO in no uncertain terms he was UNwelcome and if he caught him up there, there’d be nothing left to find. Haven’t seen the guy since, but did report to LE he’d been up there spending the night. As you can imagine, nothing could be done because he was only visiting and not changing his address unknown to his parole officer. Oh well…my concern was if he molested another child and chose to do his act, and/or kill and dump them up there it would be a horrible thing! We have nearly 250 acres against national forest and I do NOT want someone like that getting familiar with our land so dump a body or molest a child, you know? They are capable of anything.

Then only James Easter on there is from Tennessee and his current address is unknown. I didn’t say he was non-registered, that’s what the news said. Also the FBI told my mother-in-law that when they were interviewing her since she’s a neighbor.

The kids should be removed from the home the first time that illegal drug-related charges are filed. The children of druggies are at terrible risk and pedophiles know it. What good does registering really do? When they are allowed to hang out at parks etc. it really doesn’t matter where they live, they are not on house arrest so what is the point?
These children, if they are lucky enough not to be murdered, are changed for the rest of their lives. Who are the law makers anyway & why cant we demand higher punishments? who decides that they get to live free & register so they can repeat offend again? What it did for me was get me asking around until I found out he was a pedophile and had burned the little girls’ feet with cigarettes so they’d keep quiet. The way this crime was discovered is when the girls’ grandfather questioned the burns and when the girls finally told him, he immediately called LE and then took steps to TAKE THEM FROM THEIR MOM who could NOT have missed those injuries…and allowed it to continue (yup, another one). That’s our local gossip anyway from a reliable source, which would be the girl who runs the store at the bottom of our hill…and the granparents next door neighbor!!

Ok Hoping, I do get what you’re trying to say, but really…it’s not the SOR site that the problem. It’s the fact the liberals have ruined the justice system over the criminals’ “rights”. Personally, I believe anyone who would stand up for such a person’s rights is OK with what they do.
I encourage you to keep up with your local SOR site regularly. The link for my state is in my favorites. Sad to call it a favorite, but I cannot help but stay informed on who is a know sex offender.

This is a LE delimma when a non-registered sex offender is in the area. This child’s mother is just as responsible as the perp and should be charged with child neglect and perhaps murder if the child is found dead.

Yes Texas Grandfather -I so agree with you. I think a remote island out in the middle of the ocean is the only address they should be allowed to stay then they can just violate each other. I wish LE would have such stiffer penalties than just register an address- only to have them back again for a repeat offense. Since they are not able to be rehabilitated, the remote island to fend for themselves away from society would be one way.

Let’s focus at the root of the problem. Poor parenting skills. (1)Since when do parents allow a 5 year old to play outside, unsupervised by a responsible adult, in a public area. Why wasn’t mom out there with her child? (2) Why would mom even consider involving herself with a sexual predator, given that she has a young child.

i think everyone is jumping to a conclusion on the easter guy. i do not think there is any evidence of him being a sex offernder and it is irresponsible to call someone a non registered sex offender. i don’t even know if there is such a thing. i knew this man 40 years ago and have not seen him in probably 35 years but he was always an odd duck but never any problem or crimminal involvment. james was just a quiet shy type and not really a harmful person. he has children and grand children and i think this is unfair to them. i believe he probably had porno mags and as a single man entitled to. he probably thought after being questioned that he should get rid of them. just not smart enough not to do it right then. let’s wait for an arrest before the witch hunt. i pray for this child and her family and although my heart says no i pray she will be found alive.
I was wondering does anyone know how other countries deal with their sexual offenders to prevent them perpetrating these crimes and murdering our children? There must be SOMETHING that can be done==I mean, what is more important that protecting our children, why can’t money be spent on that instead of fighting wars in other countries, etc. I’m all for castrating them, banishing them to an island, but seriously, does anyone have a viable idea that could really work to stop these predators? I find it interesting that in the search, they have arrested three men all on unrelated charges including James P. Easter for being an arsonist and two male sex offenders.
