Charlottesville, VA– In a new development in the murder investigation of Morgan Dana Harrington, blinkoncrime.com has learned that Anchorage Farm was very much a frequent party spot for local musicians.

In fact, there was a 7 Mile Sleepover exactly one week after Morgan’s disappearance from the JPJ arena that included an invitation list of over 130 guests.

7mile

Jenny Bass, the adult daughter of David and Nancy Bass, is an accomplished pianist, musician, horticulturist and artist in the Charlottesville community.

The Seven Mile Sleepover appears to have been posted prior to Morgan’s disappearance, approximately October 14, 2009.

While it is unconfirmed how many guests actually attended the event, it is clear there could have been over 100 people within a few hundred yards of Morgan’s final resting place a week after she went missing, and presumably, her death.

As Anchorage Farm is a verified crime scene in an active murder investigation, one wonders if anyone found anything they may not have realized of importance at the time.

According to her facebook, Ms. Bass was clearly disturbed by her discovery as well:

HighLander just saw your post- and flashed my “horn sign” in tribute to you- Thanks for posting that-

Fish speaking of tree cameras- in the FB pics, the one that is showing a huge tree in it that as a hollow part, and what looks to be something sticking off it? In that pic, to the right of the big tree, you can see a small white birdhouse with a red roof in the smaller brush of trees- I wonder if this is a tree camera?- you have to look hard, sorry I don’t remember what # the pic was.

You just helped underscore so many points

After seeing these pics-up close and personal of AF it is easy to see how it would be particularly IMPOSSIBLE for someone who did not know that land to navigate around in that terrain- there are many dips and crevasses- creek side is uneven at best-fences seem to pop up out of nowhere- Remember, it was a dark misty night, cold, rainy wet- muddy-

This person knew exactly where he wanted to go, and exactly what he intended to do.

Blink, just browsing through vids. Nothing to get excited about, but please look starting at the 0:12. It’s hard not to notice a beautiful long haired blonde woman within the crowd…She’s wearing black but the skin of her arms and shoulders is showing…You can’t miss her.

    It is Dee.
I spoke to her regarding this personally and have a pic of her and her bf in front of JPJ.

I admit, I first saw that when this case broke, and it so reminds me of Morgan. There is a shot somewhere where you can see her bare legs and short boots.

I know, discouraging to go through hours of this was only seconds of Morgan.

DC Steve – re: A River Runs Through It
(you said:) “Do we even know if those pics by melon were even taken in the general vicinity of where Morgan was found? For all we know, it could have been on the other side of the property. AF is a big place!”

True; but as Hokie noted – in the pictures being referenced, certain aspects of the landscape (the winding creek, the over-grown/untended hay field, etc.) are (seemingly) only located in one corner of the main property.

(HokieHi:) “I really believe that these people were quite close to Morgan when the photos were taken. Three of them really stand out. First of all, as mentioned already, the photo of the guy in the field which shows the hay up to his waist. … And (photo 32) – Look at how dense the trees and vegetation are around the creekbed. When I look at the satellite photos running along the Hardware, there are a lot of open bank areas and nothing looks quite this covered until you start to get up towards the field where Morgan was found.”

    True dat, Ho’.
I’m not saying the photographer and friends were clearly in direct proximity that day to where MH was left (possibly just three weeks after the fact); nor am I saying that these photos of AF landmarks (of a sort) indicate or imply any sort of knowledge on their behalf of MH’s whereabouts.
    … I’m, uh, just sayin’.

But, this too gave me pause:
(Eloise says:) “It is also of interest to me, what was so intruiging to the photographer about the creek & such? Looks like a wad of weeds. Usually a visitor would take pics of people w/ the beautiful background and such. The focus is not the people or the beautiful landscape in some of them.”

I thought the same thing: Either this person is a crap photographer, or he/she/they were not taking pictures for posterity.

Further underscoring this, I defer to orangeparkgirl:

“… What I don’t understand are the pictures that seem like they have no focus object. Or no focus object that we know about? Specifically 30 gives me a bad feeling in my gut every time I look through the pictures and 36 makes me wonder what this guy is posing with besides a pile of weeds- why would they stop to take a photo there, in that spot? Another thing I noticed is that the perspective of some of the pictures look like they are walking THROUGH the hayfield.”

    Agreed. Totally.
And, yes, I believe they are indeed walking through the hayfield. But those visible in the group all have on long pants, sleeves and boots, so the terrain choice is not particularly extreme. After all, there may have been some areas on the far reaches of the AF property that could *only* be reached via the neglected back pastures. when approached from a certain direction…

    Liam! nooooooooooooooo….
(you said:) “This takes me back to Open Your Eyes post early on saying Morgan was warned ‘not to go to that party’……”

I know it’s said here that Everything is In until it’s Out, but seriously – to be “In,” the potential clue has to at least pass the sniff test, as far as the progression of this investigation… and this one does not smell right, dude.

To wit, OYE’s “claim to fame” on BOC was in her hinting that she was peripherally in-the-know with MH’s direct friends. Given the near-immediate conclusion and subsequent release/plea from VSP that the person(s) responsible for the MH “tragedy” was familiar with the farm, if OYE was to be taken at face/screen-name value, then MH’s friends were seemingly *aware* that she planned to hang with certain individuals at a certain gathering on the night she disappeared (thus the alleged warning not to “get drunk at that party”).

If this was the case, then after Jan. 26 – when all EYES, as it were, zeroed in on AF and the Bass family – the dots between those “in the know” and those *in the shadows* would have been effectively connected by now, and we’d have a suspect(s), I would hope.
MH = Not Connected to AF (except through death)… in my humble o’.

(Or, in the 1950s-sitcom version of this scenario, Rader – as portrayed by Lt. Ricky Ricardo – would be menacingly wagging his finger at JB and pals, shouting “You keedz got some splainin’ ta do!”)

… While I’m open to a Through-the-Looking-Glass version of the mainstream theories on these threads up until now (i.e., perp entered AF property through back-end of farm, via Red Hill Road or Blandemar), it still seems fairly clear to me that LE was indeed focusing on *those* entry points as well. And there is a helluva lot of land ‘twixt Anchorage Farm proper and where MH was placed… an, in fact, “‘U G E” swath of rolling, hilly, at-points-inaccessible farmland separating the two. … ‘U G E , B…

*Police are looking for information regarding the whereabouts of 22-year-old James Melvin Brown III. Police say he was last seen on Saturday, May 1, on the 2100 block of Arlington Boulevard.
Brown is described as a white male with brown hair and hazel eyes, 6 feet tall and 150 pounds.*

“Why almost 3 weeks later? Any warrants? ~B”

This blurb also stopped me in my surf-tracks – such a haltingly short dispatch of info on a supposed MP… and released well after the reported time he disappeared. I haven’t gotten a chance to delve too deep into this, but it certainly piqued my interest. (That said, I’ll probably sit back and see what acho or lizzy comes up with. *clinks* in advance [CIA], ladies!)

(Ed. note: orangeparkgirl – when I first read the comment of yours I spotlighted, I thought this line “… 30 gives me a bad feeling in my gut every time I look through the pictures, and 36 makes me wonder what this guy is posing with besides a pile of weeds…” I thought it actually read: “…makes me wonder what this guy was *posting* with besides a pile of *weed*…”
I was like, “Ha! So true.”)

I know I read ‘somewhere’ a looong while back, (when the GIS was first being looked at) about the old Red Teel House on Red Hill Lane. It had to be a link, maybe from some of the historical stuff, as the Teel name was hard to read. At any rate, the last time I tried to plunder the internet for it, no luck. Since then I’ve thought the double gated entrance (the 2nd) off Red Hill Road was the site, maybe. On the top. maps it sure looks like an old route crossing Red Hill Rd. However, there WAS another old home on Anchorage Farm … just up past JB’s, shown on GIS top. maps “02 or ’03? Who lived there? When? Why was it taken down? Did this have to do with the Teels in the cemetary?

    Use your Gifts.

Census Workers do not ask to go into homes. They have taken the same oath of office as Congress and the President, but that doesn’t necessarily catch the bad actors. Initial background screens and FBI fingerprints have deleted many criminals from the Census project. Criminals will use every and all opportunities to commit crimes.

Please also remember that the reason Census Workers are on the streets is because residents made errors or did not submit their forms. In some cases their were glitches in the machinery or processing of the questionaires which passed them on to this current operation.

Do not invite ot let a Census Worker into your home. If you are not comfortable talking at the door, a phone enumeration is easily arranged.

Thank you WG, If anyone gets a chance and can move this to the new piece, I would appreciate it-

The thing is, there is a system flaw. An individual, way too close to me, DID in fact use a fake social, alias and he was a RSO. It was only through the keen eye of a NJ woman that acted on her “satellite” that he was caught.

I am not sure about the opportunity to do the census telephonically, but that is a good suggestion if possible.

TO: Eloise: No worries; no offense taken at your earlier post upthread, re: my familiarity with AF and/or the Basses. I simply wanted to clarify this point for readers (perhaps like yourself) who may not have been following these voluminous Morgan threads since their inception. I realize and appreciate that you intended no harm in your comment, nor did I in my response. As they say, it’s all good…although I admit that I am still troubled by the fact that I have visited the very farm where Morgan’s remains were later found, albeit years earlier.

TO: Ode, re: your rock donation for Morgan memorial: I appreciate that it has been difficult to part with the rock you created as it has understandably provided some measure of comfort and connection for you to Morgan. Now that you are ready to send it, I will be on the lookout for it and will lovingly place it on Morgan’s memorial with a small prayer for her, and for peace for Gil, Dan, and Alex.

So we know that there was a significant party planned at Anchorage Farm the weekend after Morgan’s disappearane. Do we know if JB was at home on the night of the 17th? Was there any gatherings there that night? My first question to JB would be if there was anyone she was expecting to see at the 7 mile party who didn’t show. I doubt the perp would want to go back to the location the following week, knowing that Morgan lay a short distance away.

Now it’s question time. Blink, I know that your choice of words are always purposeful. Can you elaborate any more on these two remarks made earlier:

1.)”Her injuries represent a disorganized offender.”
What kinds of injuries would suggest this? Multiple weapons? Excessive defensive injuries?

Injuries suggesting anti-mortem trauma and intentional infliction is as specific as I will get.

2.)”Her burial reflects a sophisticated and educated offender.”
I thought it was pretty well accepted that she was not buried. Has this thought changed? Had she been buried and exhumed by the animal predation… or had she been buried and uncovered by overflow from the nearby stream before being moved by wildlife? Or, did you mean that the fact she wasn’t buried, thus speeding decomp, points to experience and/or sophistication?

Buried in the creekbed initially, and that is a loose term, I feel she was more covered up than buried, but it cannot be ruled out. I also think it is possible that lime was used, but there is no confirmation of that.
The flooding and uprooting of trees from that storm “unearthed” her, imo.

You made a suggestion quite awhile ago that perhaps the perp left something behind, and it was too dark to look for it. Thats always stuck with me. Thinking freely-could she have just been covered loosely with evergreen branches? Could the perp have used a hatchet or saw of some sort to cut them, leaving it behind in his haste?
No real basis for this, just my intuition.

    Blink, Jason and Elizabeth-
Thanks for your amazing work. I truly think that your article re- Jenny Bass, her acquaintances, and those who had access to Anchorage Farm is opening the right “can of worms” that will truly lead to getting this case solved.

As this is my first posting, I must also send my most sincere condolences to the Harringtons for their enormous loss. Morgan’s death is beyond reprehension and I applaud their strength and conviction to keep it on everyone’s heart and mind- never allowing her case to get “cold” and doing all they can to assure that justice is served and that her loss ultimately serves a higher purpose.

On that end, I have taken some time to delve into the Facebook pages of Jenny Bass and her associates. I think that it is important that all of us on this thread do so in hopes of turning over any rock that may not have been looked under yet.
Several of Jenny’s associates and FB pages/”likes” have been mentioned here already, but I have been most disturbed for the past two days about one Facebook group in particular called ” I hate having to bury hookers after I kill them.”

This group is “liked” by Jenny’s local Charlottesville groups “Black Friday Trampoling Deaths” and “ProPaganDada Due Library & Reading Room”.

I would not at all be surprised if Morgan’s killer associates with those in the shady groups mentioned above.

Even more alarming to me (and fodder for your next big story Blink) was information that I found clearly listed on the “I hate having to bury hookers…” Facebook page.
Please take the time to make a note of a particular KC who posted on the page on May 10th at 10:17. This man appears to be is a serious deviant and pedophile. Please note how he has “friended” many young girls and how he posts pics of young girls and even boldly states on May 12th that he has been “forbidden from adding people but will add this one girl after they take the block off.”
If this is his idea of a joke, it is not by any stretch of the imagination a funny one.

This is some seriously dangerous stuff and you (Blink) have made me aware of our need once again warn our children about the dangers of predators on Facebook. The parents of all girls who this KC has “friended” should be informed and duly warned about him. All they need to do is glance at his page to become very alarmed.

I do not have a strong feeling about whether Morgan’s killer is a “serial” killer or if this is his first crime of this nature. It is an absolute fact that he is likely a sexual predator, though this might be his first murder. I think it very important to find anyone who may have a connection to Anchorage Farm from the past 20 years, has been arrested for a crime of a sexual nature, and RESIDES within a four-hour radius of the farm.

Blink, please be sure that LE has contacted Jenny’s older sister in Amsterdam and has received a FULL AND COMPLETE LIST (ongoing via e-mail as she remembers more) of anyone and everyone who she had ever invited to the farm or who she remembers seeing on the farm. Also, please be sure that Jenny is doing the same (adding to her e-mail list for Charlottesville detectives as she remembers those who may have accessed the farm.)
The best course of action would be to have a kind, female detective
(either local or FBI) contact both sisters and begin an “ongoing relationship” where they are able to e-mail back and forth with any and all new information that the two sisters come up with.

I think that if these two (obviously highly intelligent) Bass girls take the time, and make the effort to really help, they will realize
that there is someone who they know of who may have been off of everyone’s “radar.”

Welcome Annie and great first post. Wow.

I haven’t read all the posts on this thread yet so please forgive me if someone has already pointed this out and I missed it. I did a site search for 32 (picture 32) and nothing came up.

Picture #32; partially submerged in the water; on the left side of the creek; where the creek appears to be getting wider and more shallow; beside the bank; under or beside a large, thick, long curved branch or shadow of a branch that is hanging over the water (if you look at the blue colored water at the very bottom of the picture and follow the blue up and to the left, you should see what I’m referring to). Helps to enlarge the picture to 200 or 400%. Does anyone see what I see? It looks to me like a body on its’ side, in a black shirt with no bottoms, bent over, with the left arm resting on or under the left leg and strawberry blonde hair. I know, I could be seeing things.

Although there may be nothing to these photo’s ~ they do seem a little “off”, particularly if some of them were posted to Facebook the same day the t-shirt was found as was pointed out by stargazer.

As a family we are taking on water. Valiantly trying, but sinking nonetheless because we have lost the joy of being.

We have the work component down in spades. We do the work to sustain each other. The work to fulfill our roles in the community. The work of our jobs. We are prodigious taskers. The work gives us direction.

But 7 months in, we are all coming up against- why bother? What does it matter?
I know a steady diet of only work won’t sustain us. We need a reason to keep moving forward. The joy of living, but we don’t really feel OK with joy right now. It is kind of like we think feeling joy is selling out on Morgan; but we know that if we don’t find it we will sell out on life itself.

Dan and I have always had an undercurrent of lightness and fun between us. We revel in our relationship. But this is such a hard, hard place. We need that little circuit of joy, however we can’t see past our poor dead Morgan. The empty room, the neatened closet, all flat. Even her car has died. (Need to call for a jump.) We all need a jump-start, Morgan’s car, Dan, Alex, and me. Get some energy flowing so we can start moving forward again.

Annie — yes that Kevin Cleveland guy (my FindMorgan persona would rather not use the initials KC for him) seems like a total and disgusting freak but that I Hate Having to Bury Hookers page (which is liked by a like of JB) is about as horrifying as the dead baby jokes everyone told when I was growing up IMO. I think I had a book of them at 15. Of course, I also thought Garfield was hilarious.

“I couldn’t get my pickup there. My tractor -four-wheel drive, yes.”
    -David Bass
it is interesting that one could make the argument he’s taking the perspective of “what kind of a vehicle could ve made the trek from within my property”-a pickup ,no, a four wheel drive, yes.instead of thinking someone accessed it from a neighboring property or the back way.

I happen to have the expensive photoshop. Something I indulged in at a time and have not learned to use. I have moved photos to that, and I am going to play and see what I can improve upon. I use laptop mostly, but had to convert to other etc. I am a novice, and have more than I know what to do with.
There appears to be alot to be seen in #30 per FM. I must be blind.

OT ,personally i think virginia should change their state slogan from va. is for lovers (lovers is too sophisicated term for some country folk,),can you imagine your 15 year old calling a boy/girlfriend -my lover.they should change it to “va. is our history” and am i the only one who read the play that “va tech shooter” wrote, its opening scene has the kid confronting his stepfather for child sex abuse, the confrontation turns physical ,he hands the assignment to teacher and he gets punished for writing it ,did the teacher notify authorities about content regarding stepfather?any investigation into claims?if what he saying in his play was true ,system failed him.unless he was lying, pretty big lie to accuse your stepfather, this aspect of that event was never even mentioned.

RUmom- No problem, I think every avenue needs to be thoroughly looked into. FWIW, I think Morgan’s killer would have no problem in thinking along the darker side of life, music and religion. He obviously has a twisted mind.

J2k, You always make me laugh- you are such a comedienne- thanks. Next time drop us a line now and again though- and don’t worry I won’t bring up OYE-

What pizzes me off is AF seems to be a well known party stop for those who are in the music scene and for 100′s of FB friends-

Why the heck didn’t we hear about this sooner-(hope someone clued LE in way back when) and it begs the questions-

Since Morgan wanted so much, to be part of the music scene and enjoyed outdoor venues and art- did she know JB or someone that did know JB? Had Morgan ever been to AF before, and could she have thought that there was a party going on there the 17th and was lured there- in the hopes of salvaging her night, after being locked out of the concert?

susanm- you asked- if there was away to see these pics-can anyone with more computer knowledge than myself, set up a flicker account and post these pics for us? Someone did this for the Halloween pics earlyon- IIRC, TIA to anyone that can help-

Eloise, not sure what pic you are referring to….

CW- glad to know you are bringing your expert research skills to the cause- carry on

Annie T- Welcome- and I think your suggestion of an open dialogue between the Bass girls and LE was brilliant.

HighLander- Rock on! Crank it up all the way to eleven for me, good album, Fantastic song! –

Here is a snippet of lyrics in tribute to Morgan, and to RJDio, another rocker who has joined the concert in Heaven-

    Race for the morning
You can hide in the sun ’till you see the light
Oh we will pray it’s all right
    Gotta get away-get away
    Between the velvet lies
    There’s a truth that’s hard as steel
    The vision never dies
    Life’s a never ending wheel
    Holy Diver

    OFF TOPIC for susanm:

The slogan “Virginia Is For Lovers” does not refer to lovers of the boyfriend/girlfriend type.

Virginia is for Lovers is the tourism and travel slogan of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Used since 1969, it has become a well recognized and often imitated part of American jargon. For example, New York drew on its success to create the I Love New York logo nearly a decade later in 1977. Maryland also parodied this phrase with their own “Maryland is for Crabs” slogan.

A team led by David N. Martin and George Woltz of Martin and Woltz Inc. of Richmond, Virginia came up with the slogan after winning the Virginia State Travel account in 1968. Originally, they had come up with history ads, “Virginia is for History Lovers”; beach ads, “Virginia is for Beach Lovers”; and mountain ads, “Virginia is for Mountain Lovers”. This approach was eventually discarded as too limiting, and the qualifiers were dropped. “Virginia is for Lovers” was born.

Ok, other people on FM on claiming to see the body in pic 32 now too. Why I am not seeing anything?? How ’bout you guys? Am I just blind or what? Because, if you all see it, than I’ll believe it’s there and that’s HUGE.

I do not see it, I sent it to an expert, he said he did not see it, but the only way to tell is from the raw file anyway.

  45. fish says:

    Mrs. Harrington.
    Why bother?
As one mother to another you must press on for all the girls that are left behind. Yes, behind. As in my daughter.
You do not know me but I was there for yours. I wanted your outcome to be so very different. Yours is not and mine is not.
Please, stay strong and believe that your work does give us direction. We are all trying. We are all supporting you and your family. Alex is up against some pretty heavy odds. I know from my own life experience. I am a sibling left behind.
Let me jump start you and especially him.
Life does go on and I too, have felt the absolute shame of experiencing joy. Of experiencing love from my husband. How can I be happy when she, they are gone? But what are we to do? Never to laugh, love, feel each other in happiness? That my friend, is not an option. Your son, my daughter, all of our children deserve more. I’m thinkin’ that your daughter would have done it for me. Yes, I know that she would have. You have this tragedy for a reason, dear lady. I don’t know why and your shoulders may be small but they are mighty. Never forget that.
Yes, Morgan was taken out by evil but if you think for one minute that I or any of us, will let this slip into the abyss…think again. We will not.
I feel that we are up against some mighty obstacles but we will persevere. All you have to do is say the word. We would do more but we do not know what to do. We just keep searching and waiting for the next move. I would be there in a heartbeat.
    Helping. Loving. Holding. Guiding. Healing.
We all would. Maybe we all are even though we are not face to face.
So, this is all I can offer. I am not equipped the way those that are investigating Morgan’s case are. I’m just a mom on a site. A mom though, who dropped everything, as many others did, and went to your daughter. See Gil, she was never alone. Yes, they won for a minute, a tragic minute when she went to the heavens above but she really never was alone. Morgan had you, her Papa, Alex, and the rest of her family with her.
She now has a family that outnumbers him/them in spades!!!
    Good will win out.
Stay strong Gil Harrington. It is now when Morgan will need you the most.
She is not poor dead Morgan. He/they will not win with that.

Morgan is tragically gone from the physical aspect of your lives but she lives on in every minute of your day, the bracelet that you wear, the stones on Copeley that are placed with love, and through the eyes of that son of yours who needs his mother to carry on.
It is difficult and if I could take it from you I would but somehow saying even that, I know that you are one to remain strong and fight this fight that Morgan may have lost but you will win for her!!!

Mrs. Harrington, you and your husband have infinite more knowledge than I will ever have. The only thing that I have is my own life experience to draw from and what that tells me is you need your community just as we need you. Lean on us for a little while. It’s ok to need and it will be ok to feel joy again. If it becomes too overwhelming just know that you have good friends that understand.

You may want and need to curl up, under the covers and that’s ok. But do not let joy fade from your lives. Your africa trip, your dedication, your family, and yes, we here in your community need you.
It is daunting I too, know.

I’m so, so deeply sorry for your loss.

I won’t stop praying for our children! They are never lost to God.

I have been studying these images in photoshop since I found them yesterday – and got very little sleep. I can tell you if I cross my eyes and pull on my left ear and twist my hair a little bit just the right way I can kind of see what everybody is talking about as far as the possible body in the creek. It takes a lot of adjusting of my antennae though.

I still don’t think I’ve recovered from the shock of having those images pop up on my screen. The first one was of the guy with the gut in front of the yert. I couldn’t believe it when I found out there was a whole album of the darn things and then when I saw the dates they were uploaded I nearly passed out.

I may need to have a few cocktails this weekend to get my head screwed back on straight.
