Morgan Harrington Murder: Eric Howell, Neighbor To Anchorage Farm, Wanted On VA State Police Site

North Garden, VA– A registered Sex Offender, Eric Micheal Howell, whose residence is adjacent to Anchorage Farm, the location in Charlottesville where 20 year old Morgan Harrington’s remains were located, is a wanted fugitive according to the Virginia State Police website.
Although he registered on June 10, as assigned, there is a warrant out for his arrest. It is unknown if Howell is involved in the circumstances of the disappearance and homicide of Morgan Harrington, or if he is wanted in connection to any recent grand jury activity. Update: Warrant is from Albemarle County Police Department for an unknown misdemeanor charge. An attempt to serve the warrant was made and Police were unable to locate Howell.
The charge from ACPD according to VSP spokesperson, Corrine Geller, is not related to the Harrington murder, and he is, for the time being, in compliace with the registry as of June 10th.
There is no pending charges on the Albemarle County Clerk site at the time of this post.

8.2-472.1 was the felony conviction in ’08 for failure to register.

As far as being in custody, I just meant they had pulled him in on latest charge and that is probably when they palm printed him. He is most likely bailed out again.
Blink: Do you have in notes of a person being arrested for vandalism several months ago? If my memory serves me correct it was a statue or carving. It came up several months ago, but I think the offense was longer ago than this year. Just sounds very strange. Something seems very very strange. Not sure if it ties in, but very weird.

Hi Saramom. It’s not apparent to me yet, either. Still looking at this CH guy and his fam. Even beyond EMH, I wonder about other C’ville/Albemarle connections, just given recent pornography arrests there.
My hope is all these folks arrested on child porn charges get the book thrown at them; I wish I could say I felt confident it would be.

Anyway, makes me wonder if EMH’s charges for statue cruelty or whatever, was a ruse for obtaining his palm print. Maybe some prints were found on the possible ‘tarp’. Just a thought. Also, I wonder how closely related they are? Same fathers? What would that do to any potential foreign DNA that may have been found from Morgan. Very interesting development.
I dont want to get yelled at for saying this, but it seems to me there is a rather large group of youths in these rural towns with an awful lot of free time on their hands. Maybe its due to being raised by troubled families who have not taught the normal morals the average person holds. But even looking at the girls fb pages known to associate with some of these guys, their mouths are in the gutter. Lack of self esteem, violence, drugs and alcohol. I guess if you are not taught to want to achieve, given a pass on any poor judgement and decisions, it just fuels this kind of thinking and behavior.
I realize as some have suggested that if you look closely at crime in any area, it would be shocking. I am in VA, but the crime reported by me is different. It is drug and gang related, and being that there isnt beautiful forests etc, people arent off in the woods, having private gatherings and the like. It’s been very enlightening for me. I feel so sorry that Morgan fell to such a horrible, terrifying situation.

Saramom, I don’t know either if EMH and CH are related, I was just going by Blink’s earlier response. I don’t know any of these Howells, but a Stuart’s Draft/Augusta connection wouldn’t surprise me. Seems like a lot of kids we’ve looked at are from the Waynesboro area. Of course, it could be none of them.
Mary, I went racing around after I read fish’s comment to J2K also, to see if she’d posted. Must have been from a private conversation. Would love to see J2K again.
I cannot confirm any relation. Howell is a common name in this area, as are the others we are all familiar with, just fyi. I will point out he was not arrested until June 23rd, although his computer was seized May 25th. I expect there will be more arrests.

Maybe I am wrong but just seems there would have been a good deal of driving that night and I do not believe for one minute, he/they, who did this to Morgan would do that. Fish you are correct that Boyd Tavern is the opposite direction from Charlottesville. My bad. I had the Crozet location confused in my mind. I have tried to find where the witness comments on this sighting were first made but have not yet tracked a source other than blog discussion. Here is one comment made on Blink by J2k regarding this. I could see someone turning the wrong direction on I-64 in a panic.

I have found Blink to be very clear when something is fact, and I just wasn’t feeling it–too much ambiguity. I have learned from reading here to slow down and think more clearly, being careful NOT to jump to conclusions.

NoseyRosey – i don’t recall blink referring to a FF leaving town around when she went missing, but rather one that took a road trip to NJ at an odd time when she was found at AF.

well… answering myself just to clear up any confusion about whether a monument or memorial actually needs to be involved in this vandalism/destruction of property charge.
I took that statute and broke it down into its elements. It goes something like this:
1. destroy, deface, damage or remove without intent to steal
a. any property, real or personal, not his own
^^^ ^^^^^^^^
————-> OR <—————
2. break down, destroy, deface, damage or remove, without the intent to steal:
a. any monument or memorial for war veterans described in § 15.2-1812
(sec. 15.2-1812 describes the war memorials as including all wars since the Algonquin war of 1812)
b.any monument erected for the purpose of marking the site of any engagement fought during the War between the States
c. or for the purpose of designating the boundaries of any city, town, tract of land, or any tree marked for that purpose
So this could be A LOT of things, “any property not his own” is very broad! so it could be vandalizing just about anything that belongs to someone else.
It’s something defaced or destroyed; someone else’s property, including war memorials, or signage / boundary markers.
No intent to steal is a major element in the statute.
So I thought it might be helpful to make this clarification. I am new at trying to break down statutes into elements and this is something that I definitely wanted to correct. I think that some people also think there are two charges but there’s only one. (There are two sections to the statute.) Resolved: Don’t post a statute without breaking it down into its elements. Amen.

I am here, Saramom, thanks for wondering about me- I sadly do not have very much to say lately. With this new article, I am confronted daily by EMH’s face.
He seems to not have any light in his eyes, although he looks like any other kid down the street, next door, where ever. To think that this kid is a registered VIOLENT SEX OFFENDER boggles my mind.
I know he has been on many peoples radar- and I could see Morgan trusting such a person as this- especially if he has the gift of gab or is charming. It got me to thinking, most sexual offenders were victims once themselves, right? If this is true for him, was his offender caught and punished? Or is he/she still out there offending- How many people are/were affected by this kid and whomever might have hurt him, and how many of them are now continuing the cycle- I hope none.
I am still hoping that justice will come soon for Morgan, and the Harrington’s.

Hey fish, I’m here, too. The storm in C’ville was something else…the second micro-burst we’ve had in a month, like an explosion, the way it blew trees right out of the earth. All in a 15 minute storm.
Still waiting on some real word about Morgan, not losing interest, just being patient. I found lots of our old friends over on Kyron’s thread, but I’m sure they’re still checking in here too.
I’m still here, everyday, several times a day. I told a group of my daughter’s friends about Morgan and now when they come over they ask me about her. One of them asked if we are related to her. Morgan, a shining star, my adopted concern.

I am still here too. Checking in several times during the day. Thinking of new angles of research and hoping for more leads. -Sigh-
Someone just brought up the Boyd Tavern Market and I realize I forgot to tell you all that I went there a few weeks ago, just to see it and look for cameras, cause I couldn’t believe it had had recent renovations and no security cams had been installed (I mean in the past few years and well *before* Morgan went missing — IIRC it had had a fire a few years back and they had to do some rebuilding).
In fact, I saw no evidence of cameras in that lot, and boy, should they have some. The lot is a long one off to the side of the store, and folks were there in broad daylight to use their dumpster (also off to the side) for trash disposal.
The place is RIGHT ON 250, and getting to it from I-64 is a bit of a hike. In my mind, I had thought it was more likely the person asking for directions that night had pulled off I-64, which is still possible (it is desolate and would be the only place a person could find to stop), but after being there I now think it’s more likely that person had been on 250 heading east when he meant to be going west. I do find that frantic stop for directions interesting, and if the person stayed on 250 to get back to H’burg, he’d have had to have gone through Charlottesville again. Getting on I-64 would have been the more direct way to get there.
All of this info is just for what it’s worth, which is not much. All along I had just been so skeptical that there was zero security cam footage of that car’s stop at Boyd Tavern Market, and sadly I guess there really isn’t.

Adair, re: eyes like sharks, then I’m sad to say it, but EMH is not the only one with such eyes. I was surprised to find myself face to face with another person we’ve discussed on BOC a few weeks back, and I am horrified to report there is no sparkle, no nothing, in those eyes. I was shocked, because I think it used to be there in droves. Sad and alarming. I don’t actually believe that individual did anything to Morgan so don’t want to talk names, but I’m still curious about his whereabouts the night she went missing and whether he or his male and female cronies have information (I therefore private posted B about it at the time, though there’s not really anything to be done based on a report of “I just saw so and so and his eyes are dead”).
My point is it is a growing, and more and more frightening, drug/alternative culture in central Virginia (everywhere, probably, but with the experimental and artistic scene in C’ville, maybe it just feels that much more wasteful). I am worried about it both in general and as it may pertain to/interfere with progress in Morgan’s case (and I believe it could be interfering at several levels).
I feel many of us are not happy with LE. Maybe it’s because they do not have a lot of murders to investigate. If Morgan had been in a high crime area – like NYC or LA – maybe more seasoned investigators would be hot on the trail. I think the DNA issue may be a problem also. I haven’t been posting much – cause I have no info – but I read here every day. If she had only been found much sooner…..

I am not understanding why your previous employer would not have counsel representing you. Have you specifically asked for that?
However, if that is the case, I would recommend you arrange a consult with one and express your concerns and go from there.
Lastly, what a horror story for just doing your job, I hope you continue your important work in spite of it.

Sadly two teenage girls missing for one week already in Fairfax VA, it appears they sneaked out of the house and have not been seen since and their cell phones are both off.
