Abducted And Endangered In Tennessee: Help Find Holly Bobo

Posted by BOC Staff | Holly Bobo,Kidnapping,Missing and Endangered,Missing Persons | Saturday 16 April 2011 10:09 am

Parsons, Tennessee- After exiting her home on Swan Johnson Road in Parsons, Tennessee, 20 year old Holly Bobo was ambushed in the driveway while she approached her car to head to nursing class.

While there was a furry of erroneous reports early on, Investigators from the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation have now confirmed that Holly was not "dragged" through the carport, and her brother Clint did NOT see her accosted.

Clint Bobo, 25, heard what he thought was a mild argument outside at approximately 7:30 am on April 13.  By all accounts, big brother Clint kept a watchful eye on his sister, and today was no different.

Clint went to the window, and saw Holly walking away towards the woods with a man dressed in camouflage.  Both Holly and the unidentified suspect were walking away from the property, and were only seen from the rear. The male individual was between 5'10" and 6' tall, approximately 180-200 lbs, dressed in full camo. Clint Bobo erroneously assumed that Holly was in the company of her boyfriend based on his visual observation.

In approximately 40 minutes, when Clint headed outside to start his day, he noticed Holly's car in the driveway, and immediately called Holly's boyfriend, who is not considered a suspect, to inquire what the two were up to.

Holly's boyfriend, whose name is intentionally being withheld, had no idea what Clint was talking about, and soon afterward, Clint observed blood on the macadam on the carport area of the family’s home. Bobo immediately called 911, as did his Mother Karen, a schoolteacher, after she learned what was suspected to have happened, from her son.  Neither call has been released.

Hundreds of community volunteers from the Decatur County community have been assisting in the ground searches for Holly, despite weather threats in the area.

Yesterday the search grid moved about 8 miles away from Holly Bobo's home when her white lunchbox was found near a creek.  Although there were reports earlier that a car, Holly's cell phone and some camouflage clothes were found as well, at least 2 news outlets have removed that information from their coverage without explanation.

Today, the search area is designated as a 4 mile radius, within 6 miles of the Bobo residence.

There is a $25,000 reward for the SAFE RETURN of Holly Bobo.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the TBI at 1-800-TBI -FIND

Blink Assessment:

This individual is known to Ms. Bobo, her family and friends. There are/were recent indications that this suspect was dangerous following a rejection of sorts, real or perceived .   Holly was ambushed because this suspect knew her routine and that of her family, exactly.  He is an avid woodsman, has  access to an ATV and some sort of shelter or cabin in the area.  He may have access to a two way radio and was immediately aware that 911 had been called, or someone close to the family was aware of "him" and attempted to contact him personally.

I would check the video and purchase records within an 8 mile radius for every department or sporting good store for an individual matching the suspect description the day before, and especially late night of the 12th.

If he is on any social sites and updating at all, he is doing so with a PDA,  if he is not he may be found in the deleted FB or email/texts of Ms. Bobo.  The fact that Holly walked away with him following an act of violence, tells me that at least in her mind, she felt she could control this event with the outcome of her safety.  While that is a good sign, locating her or the suspect is mandatory as I feel there was a trigger to this incident, and the suspect will feel strongly that he cannot "take it back" or that it is "too late."

To that end, I would downplay the connection to her cousin in the country music business as I have, in and effort to allow the suspect to think the case will receive only minimal exposure and returning Holly and surrendering safely can be largely private, and in his best interest to do so immediately.

Holly Bobo, her family and friends are in the hearts and prayers of the www.blinkoncrime.com family.

Blink, I am so glad to see you covering this case, and to hear more details. This perp must have stalked her for some time. One would think if he aware of the family and their routines he should have known Holly’s brother might be home and witness the abduction.

Sending many prayers for Holly and her family.

I think that is why the ambush. If he had not heard what was described as a scream, although he thought it was couple’s argument allegedly, this guy would not have been seen.

Interesting that the info released in the media has changed so much since yesterday.
Watched HLN yesterday early eve, and the TH’s were quite hopeful that some evidence could be obtained from her abandoned car that they were reporting was supposedly found.
Now today we learn that they never even left in her car – but headed towards the woods on foot.
As you mentioned, the must be someone who knew Holly and her families routines well and also knows that area and survival/outdoorsman skills well.
The arial view pic on TV showed this home was on 10+ acres of wooded land – surrounded by much more undeveloped land.

The parents are a complete meltdown of raw emotions.
Even the local LE that gave a brief statement broke down while speaking to the press.
    God Bless them.

Praying that this is someone that Holly knew (and maybe felt dejected by her?) … and that she is able to talk + reason with him, in order to stay healthy until TBI can track and find her.

    Glad you’re following this Blink.
Caught my heart as soon as I watched the story yesterday.

Blink, some maps have shown a pond in the area. Do you know if it has been dragged? Also, is the report about Holly’s “lunchbox” being found true? Thanks for the information, Blink. That gives one hope that Holly is just being held against her will in an area known only to the abductor. Praying hard for this family.

With Blink involved we can know we are getting the best true information about this crime!

I do not know if the pond was dragged, but I do not believe so, and yes, her lunchbox was found and a few other items not being released.

My first emotion after reading this is RAGE. The psycho can’t have what he wants so he’ll play God and determine her fate on earth? My gut already tells me this isn’t going to be happy ending.

…and why would Holly, an obvious beauty, go off with him after an act of violence? If there was any place for her to scream and draw attention to herself, it would be in the car port of her own home.

Love and prayers to Holly’s family. I pray I’m dead wrong and she is found alive and well! <3

Perhaps the blood is from the abductor? A threatened suicide/trick to manipulate Holly.

  6. Judi says:

To me, this sounds like someone who knew her and whom she knew, someone who wanted her and could not have her, so decided to take her and “keep her for his own”. Hopefully, this means that she is still alive. Hopefully, this means that she has some possibility of being able to reason with him. Hopefully, he doesn’t do anything drastic.

This is a scary story. I am glad you chose to write about this poor girl Blink. I wonder if it could be someone she met at the college? Otherwise, it would seem other people would know who they might be looking for. Who hasn’t appeared to lend a hand?
The community in Decatur are doing a superb job in coming together for this family in their time of need. Prayers to all.

Thank you, and thanks to my contributing editors Madeline and Jacqueline for compiling data so quickly.

Great, they intentionally withhold his name, yet his photo gets plastered on the internet.

I am choosing to withhold his name, his picture (s) with Holly are public, have been posted on several news sites over the last few days.

I hope they find her and bring her home soon. It seems like she didnt fight back as much as she could have…Did he scare her with force? with threats?.. was she trying to protect her brother inside? Be quiet orelse?- I feel so bad for her brother- what a horrible image to have playing again and again in his mind…his sister walking away with her boyfriend seemingly safe, but then to have that not be true….

What kind of person would think to do something like this? I hope they figure out the who very soon.

My prayers for her safety and return and my prayers to her brother, to her family, her boyfriend and her community.

Please keep us informed of any news Blink and team.

i have chills reading this story. i have a stalker that is an unrequited love interest (on his part) and it is very scary and stressful. I feel like this is what happened in this case and my immediate gut reaction. i agree with blink that she went with him thinking she could control the situation. i can see how a young girl, or anyone for that matter, would think that, even though in reality, you can never control what a psycho stalker is going to do. i can vividly remember times when my stalker would contact me and i would think to myself that if i just talked to him to calm him down, he would finally go away. now i know that never works. so sad and i am praying for her and her family.

  13. A Texas Grandfather says:

Oh why oh WHY do young people not communicate fully with one another and watch after each other?

Sunshine, your story should wake up all young women. A stalker cannot be controlled by reason.

My prayers to the family. Maybe she will be one of the lucky ones who survive.

  14. chefjagcc says:

Could it be possible that the perp dressed in camo to make himself to appear to be the bf? A weapon could have been used to force her to take a seemingly harmless stroll to the trees. Seems like quite the coincidence that the perp is same height/build as bf and dresses like him as well.

I opined the same actually within the tank.

  16. sherlock says:

The lunchbox find is interesting – 8 miles from the house. That’s a hell of a long way to hike before getting to some kind of vehicle.
If the perp had a vehicle waiting to transport her, you would think he
would have parked it a bit closer than 8 miles?

The theory that he has some kind of hideout nearby in the woods is now, not likely since the area has been thoroughly searched by man and dogs I assume. So – he has to have gotten her into some vehicle within an hour or so. Dragging along a healthy 20 year old is not easy. Unless,
God forbid she is already buried somewhere in those woods and the perp
was on foot all the way, and they just haven’t found the grave site yet.
But no, I feel she is still alive.

If the brother’s story is true, what he did not see from behind is likely that the perp had a gun on her with the threat that if she didn’t go with him he would shoot her. I strongly think this was the case. Who abducts someone in broad daylight without a gun?

If the lunchbox was indeed found with other items – then at least the perp was at the creek and dumped the items – or they were BOTH there?
But again, 8 miles is a long way to hike with a hostage. Try it sometime.
If the lunchbox was found without other items – then the possibility
exists (since it contained food or food odors) that animals may have
carried it to the creek, and so that location is not really important.

One more thing – she comes out to get in her car, it’s daylight. If she sees someone she doesn’t know – she would immediately start screaming and/or running away. Thus, the theory that she knew the perp and for a minute or two, felt safe enough not to raise an alarm
until he was close enough to grab her – is pretty likely.

Of course I think of Morgan’s abduction. Like her case, there are so few facts, but at least there are some. Some bloggers already suspect the brother, but I’m withholding theory on him until more facts are known. No, the facts so far point to a stalker.

Main puzzler for the police and Blinkers – How did he get her out of the area so quickly without a vehicle?
8 mile hike on foot = Time??
Again, if multiple items were found at the creek – why dump them there??? Unless that’s where the vehicle was waiting.
Possibility – they were dumped there later (day or two?) and she was put into a vehicle closer to the house than the creek.

As with the Bass’s Farm research we need some avid Blinkers to find out about the woods around that house – are there trails? How much of it can you navigate with an ATV, and how much is too overgrown?

If this is indeed a stalker, then the good news is he’s local and Holly isn’t very far away.

    regards,
    sherlock

If indeed this is a “good ‘ole boy” and he’s homegrown, it will take people of the same ilk to find them. I would imagine they’ve got dogs on the scene and have some idea of where they left the trail by now, hopefully this young woman will be found soon!

My thoughts and prayers are with this family.

Camo clothing in the rural South would not have been unusual at all. It is part of the culture around here and most often the dress of choice for guys when not in school/work clothes or Sunday dress.

I think this is his usual wear for trekking through the woods especially when needing to layer up in case he was real cold while waiting outside for her to go to her car heading to school. I think this is the spurned one, he knew schedule, was waiting for her to enter carport and poss knew there was chance that bro might be him. I think that is why assmunch didn’t enter home. B, my ? is does LE know how he got her out of the area? ATV tracks? Vehicle tracks? Have you learned anything that you can share today? Have a wonderful Sunday Mrs. B and Blink family and to all the Blink posters.

  20. mosaic says:

The lunchbox immediately raised questions in my mind too Sherlock.

Did she carry it for eight miles? Did *he* carry it for eight miles? That seems odd if indeed she was being forcefully led. Walking eight miles on foot in the woods takes at least two hours.

Could the lunchbox have been inside a backpack (hers)? How did Holly usually carry her school materials — her notebook and folders?

I am curious to know if the lunchbox had food in it.

    A lot of questions…

  21. sunshine says:

i think that whoever abducted holly had a weapon, which is why she went into the woods with him. i think he told her that if she didn’t come with him he would kill her right there in her driveway. this is the only thing that makes any sense. if this is what happened, it underscores a very important point that blink has made many times on this site, never let a perpetrator take you from the point of the abduction to another location no matter what.

  22. NancyS says:

Just for information on these crazies, I was told that my perpetrator would harm my family if I didnt do as he said. I eventually got away BUT had to move over 1500 miles away and he is still looking for me.
IT is so sad that people have to be this way. I am hoping she is still alive but if she dont act accordingly I feel this will not be the case.

Blink the following can either be kept PRIVATE or posted…it’s entirely up to you:

On Sept 10, 1999 a 17 year old senior named Jessica Dishon was apparently dragged out of her car that morning while she was getting ready to go to school. Several days later her body was found a few miles away. There was evidence at the scene of a struggle and some even thought she was ambushed just as she went to sit in her car. At one point a neighbor was charged with this murder but a mistrial was declared at his trail and he has never been re-charged with this crime. There are many in the community that thinks he is innocent of this crime.

Parson’s TN is a 4 hour drive from Shepherdsville KY. The way Holly was abducted sounds so similar to the way Jessica disappeared it’s almost creepy.

Here’s a mapquest search of the distance between the two towns.

    EXACTLY.

  27. akmom says:

The lunchbox eight miles away just does not make sense to me. I wonder if it is confirmed that she has had it recently. If this person has been stalking her, I wonder if maybe it could have been taken out of her car and planted to throw off the searchers.

  28. mayhem says:

Blood on the macadam of the carport area…how much? It must have been sustantial enough to notice in the first place. Is there a trail of droplets?

  29. Ode says:

If they are looking for contents of a purse and or backpack then that could point to finding both emptied and probably planted after they were emptied.

In the presser this afternoon, it was said NO ONE HAS BEEN RULED OUT AS A SUSPECT. That makes sense to me since I would think it would take alot of investigative time to actually “clear” a person. Yet, for several days now, until this afternoon’s presser, it was said that specific individuals had been cleared. What do you make of that contradiction?

Sadly, my take is that a person or persons previously not considered a suspect are now considered one.

We have tire changes and a vehicle reported stolen. Fwiw, I do believe this case will resolve quickly.

    Sigh.

An article today is reporting that TBI is not striking anyone off the list of possible persons of interest including the brother and boyfriend although the two have been cooperating.

The new search grid has widened and includes part of the Natchez Trace Park….this is also a heavily wooded area.

New items have been found, however, authorities are not telling what those are at this time.

It seems as though the information since day one has been misconstrued repeatedly.

Hopefully it is not too late for Holly. Praying.

  34. A Texas Grandfather says:

Surley LE has brought in dogs and trackers to follow a trail.

In a case like this, all roads and backwoods trails need to be immediately closed in a fifty mile perimeter. Road blocks should be set up on all roads that cross a state line. This will not likely be effective after four hours.

Holly has been missing more than 48 hours. She and her abductor could be anywhere.

  35. baadbobby says:

Sad story. If we weren’t so far and expecting a baby this week, I’d be in the woods in TN looking too.
My feeling is that the blood is that of the perp; he cut himself in front of Holly to get her attention and sympathy. He knows her and has some sort of history of stalking her, be it cyber, in person, or both.

Camouflage is to rural TN as fake tan is to the cast of Jersey Shore.

Almost every man in that area could be considered an avid woodsman.

Walking 8 miles in the woods would be a 3 hour minimum, more than likely 4-5 hours.

You can bet that LE has more than the lunch bag and duct tape in evidence. If they don’t have her cell phone already, you can bet they’ve checked for pings from it.

Thanks Blink for your thoughts and the info. I have not seen anything mentioned about tire changes. Hey Blink,

In the Kyron case, only trained searchers were used. In Holly’s case, there were more than 1,000 friends and neighbors in the woods today looking for her. Can you tell me why the difference?

I considered adult vs child…. rural vs more urban…..

No it is asset and terrain based, in general. Without specifics on the ground I really would only be speculating.

  40. gigi says:

Duct tape again??? Dang. The member of local LE who was interviewed about the duct tape was elusive and said that TBI would make an announcement about its significance later. Blood is undergoing DNA testing…wonder if TBI will release that info to the public?

Blink, are the odds better for the victim if the victim knows the perp rather than it being a stranger?

Obviously her brother knew her schedule since they lived together,
and he knew she was leaving to go to class at 7:30 AM, to take a test
    no less.
So – when she does NOT get in her car to leave for class, but instead
walks into the woods with ANYONE including her BF or Jesus himself – why would he not immediately be concerned and go outside to ask WTF??

Still a bit hinky on the brother, since he’s the only eyewitness.
I hope to be proven wrong.
The news about the lake search also bothers me. Pray she’s still alive.

    Sherlock

  46. GeorgiaDad says:

What jumps out to me is how quickly this young woman essentially vanished off the face of the earth. People wonder how Morgan Harrington could so quickly disappear at a night-time concert, but this woman disappeared in daylight from her own driveway.

I think her brother has been unfairly targeted, primarily because of poor reporting. Initial reports suggested he saw a man hauling his sister into the woods, but waited an hour to call police. Apparently much of the confusion was related to the word “dragged”. Although the initial impression is someone being forcibly moved against their will, the word could also be used to describe less forceful maneuvers. I suspect the brother was quite distraught when he first called 911, and was not particularly careful about his word choice.

Most likely, he caught a glimpse of his sister talking to what he thought was her boyfriend, and didn’t think anything about it. As a result, he would not have made any effort to remember details or survey the scene.

What does bother me is the idea advanced by law enforcement that there was no sign of violence or suspicious behavior when the brother saw her, but that she walked into the woods “in fear for her life”. These would seem to be mutually incompatible comments (unless there is another witness). The other problem is, if the perp had studied the household and knew the family routine as her father has stated, why try to grab her while the brother was at home? Too many things could go wrong in the situation.

No-one should be ruled out as a suspect until we know what really happened. That being said, I see no evidence of a motive for the brother to disappear his sister. Nor do I see any reason he would want to help her boyfriend make her disappear. I also do not see any reason why he would help his sister voluntarily disappear.I think he only caught a glimpse of something through the window and never paid it a second thought until he found the blood.

One question I have relates to family vehicles. I suspect mom had a car and dad had a car or truck to get to work. Obviously, Holly had a car to get to school. Did the brother also have a car/truck? and was it parked in the driveway where it could be seen by the perp?

This was my first question as well. It is my understanding that the brother did not, but I have not been able to verify it.
    B

I actually don’t think the brother or bf are involved. I think the brother assumed and is probably devastated over his assumption. Also if Holly was injured (blood on pavement); it could explain how she was lead away with out a fight.

Maybe I watch too much tv; but I have to wonder if the kidnapper may not have been obsessed with the cousin; and some how knew there was a relation with Holly.

Prayers that Holly is found soon. Prayers for all her family, friends, and community.

Hoping for quick resolution in this case.

What bothers me, and what I believe is quite telling, is the blood found outside the home. It would appear that a struggle/assault of some sort ensured at that specific location, which you would have thought to believe would have aroused more suspicion than apparently took place. When people bleed, it tends to hurt, women tend to vocalize their pain quite conspicuously. That is, if the blood is found to be hers…

It would also be important to know if a blood trail was evident to where they were reported going, a means to corroborate everyone’s story with evidentiary findings to see if any inconsistencies exist. The story of someone’s last known sighting needs to be heavily scrutinized.

I would like to know in what order the calls were made from the home. Specifically, did Clint call his sister first, at all, before calling the BF and allegedly getting him at work.

I do think that some of what is being released may be for investigative advancement.

I still wonder about the brother. Does anyone know how much time elapsed from when the parents left for work and the first 911 call was made? One thing that makes me suspicious is the staggering amount of misinformation first released, such as Holly was dragged away and a neighbor heard screams. Now it’s that Holly walked away with him and the brother heard an argument. I almost feel like the brother told the original story to make it look like an abduction, but when the public piled on with “How could you let your sister get dragged into the woods??” he had to dial back the drama. However, the fact they haven’t found her yet makes me think it was an abduction. So very sad and strange. I join others in prayer.

    sigh.
