Greta’s still an attorney first TV interviewer second.

From what I’ve heard about Greta, she’s conducted good interviews. I did see her interview with Van der Slug. I was amazed how she could maintain her composure after lying, changing his story, lying again, throwing hissy fits, walking off the set, throwing a drink at a camera man. I respected her keeping her cool.

Yeah…we don’t need another NG. I dropped her many moons ago because of how she belittles her guests and her staff. Her show is like her home. You just don’t treat company like that.

  6. A Texas Grandfather says:

Greta is a strange case. She knows how to ask good questions, but when the answer begins to go in a direction she doesn’t want, she breaks in.

Mark Furman IMO is top notch in investigations. One of these days when Greta has him on he is going to keep right on talking when she tries to stop him.

Greta has a great deal to overcome. Remember she went to school at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a liberal bastion.

Greta’s interview with the jury foreman was softball. What a piece of work he is.

  7. Sheri says:

Blink, I am hoping you or some here might be able to help me out. I’m in Galveston & trying to locate “the aunt” who gave the interview, the one who talked about Casey coming to Pasadena Texas? ANY info on how one could learn her name.. address… it would be appreciated.
Did anyone else catch the sheriff in interview today say Casey is getting out THIS WEEKEND?

  8. GraceintheHills says:

Just watched part 2 of Greta’s show. I am trying to have/show some respect for these jurors, and I do understand that they had a difficult job to do, but…

I find their analysis of the evidence to be devoid of logic and common sense.

The one thing I did learn from #11 is the positioning of the duct tape in relationship to Caylee’s skull and hair mat. This juror painted a surprisingly clear picture of what he saw. Her hair, during decomposition slippage, ended up in a ‘horseshoe shaped’ mat at the base of her skull. Part of the tape was still attached to this hair mat and extended along the side of the skull and across her mandible and part of the maxilla.

He said when he looked at the duct tape he could tell it had been there a long time. Although he said the tape extended across her nose and mouth he and the other jurors did not use that piece of evidence to “infer” the duct tape caused her to asphyxiate.

In the end, IMO, these jurors just didn’t give the duct tape any weight.

    Unbelievable.

  9. Cristy says:

Ragdoll, that link to the old WESH article reminded me of the myspace ‘poem’ that Casey posted. I’m wondering if this was ever presented as evidence at the trial. We could go round and round listing things that possibly may have encouraged the jury to use a bit of critical thinking… but if the key evidence of sex, lies, and duct tape didn’t get those neurons fired up then cognition was impossible here. In any case, let me bring it up here since my poor husband can’t handle one more utterance of anything casey anthony related (can’t blame him either, lol). So that poem always seemed like a confession to me. The “with great power comes great consequences” & “what is given can be taken away”… shows that her mindset at the time was “I’m in control” and “I have the power to take Caylee away”, not “accidents happen”. Especially since it was in response to Cindy’s myspace post about “jealousy” taking Caylee away. Thoughts?

Casey Anthony Reportedly Plans to Use False Name, Disguises Upon Release From Jail
    http://www.foxnews.com/us/2011/07/12/casey-anthony-reportedly-plans-to-use-false-name-disguises-upon-release-from/

Casey Anthony will likely wear disguises and live under an assumed name at a secret location after she is released from prison this weekend, the Chicago Sun-Times reports, quoting a source close to her legal team.

Once Anthony arrives at the secret location where she will live, she’s expected to use a pseudonym “almost as if she was living in a witness protection-like program,” the source reportedly said.

The verdict touched off a wave of national outrage and the paper reported the unidentified source said she believes, “Casey really does not completely understand the depth of hatred out there.”

“She’s fully aware of the various death threats, of course, but she thinks that’s isolated to relatively few nutcases,” the source told the newspaper.

She is also considering various disguises, although she’s rejected the option of plastic surgery, according to the source.

  14. Sue says:

This from the Associated Press today:

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Florida sheriff announced Tuesday that authorities were looking into witness tampering allegations during Casey Anthony’s murder trial, even as he held a wide-ranging news conference with his top investigators in what he said was an effort to bring closure to a case that polarized the country.

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings also revealed that prosecutors were considering perjury charges against Anthony’s mother, but a spokeswoman for the state attorney’s office later said they would not be pursued.

Casey Anthony was acquitted a week ago on charges of killing her 2-year-old daughter Caylee in 2008. Anthony was found guilty on four charges of lying to law enforcement officers. She is to be released from jail Sunday.

    Witness tampering?

  15. Blink says:

    @Grace
Exactly. I guess maybe if they found a pair of kids craft scissors they could have determined Caylee committed suicide to get away from George by putting the duct tape on her own face.

I guess then they could take Dr. Utz opinion that this is the only case in his career where the lower mandible was found in it’s anatomical position.

    Maddening

Blink: Pretty much EVERY juror that has spoken out has said that BECAUSE they weren’t spoon fed the CAUSE of death – and the MOTIVE – they acquitted her. NEITHER of which, by jury instructions nor law, NEED to BE proven to convict.

They are supposed to take ALL the evidence into account when rendering a verdict. Ya know…connect the dots. Oh – that’s right. Jennifer Ford said it wasn’t their job to connect the dots. **slaps forehead**

I’m convinced…there were a few strong personalities in that jury room who convinced the rest of them that they KNEW the rules – and all the rest of the jurors were wrong.

I wish, so much, that just ONE of those jurors would have been strong enough to stand their ground, and ask the judge for more simple explanation of the 20+ pages of jury instructions. Because, I think there were jurors were THOUGHT they understood – and others who were too confused and overwhelmed – so went with the majority.

The more this jury talks – the more I am CONVINCED this was a COMPLETE miscarriage of justice.

And, that is really preventing my heart from beginning the healing process.

  24. Teri says:

I also think we had a problem with a few ‘people pleasers” in that jury room.

They wanted to please Judge Perry by coming up with a verdict – and not having a hung jury.

And, because they weren’t strong enough to stand up to the “know-it-all’s” on the jury – and did NOT clearly understand the law – and their job as jurors – we received NO justice for Caylee.

This case has turned the justice system into a farce – and will have long reaching affects on future cases.

This whole thing sickens me – and it grieves me deeply to have seen it in action.

Years from now – I’ll still be shaking my head – and get that sick-to-my-stomach feeling everytime I think about this case.

The jurors failed Caylee – and they failed the system. Period.

  25. Teri says:

Jennifer Ford was on Anderson Cooper . She claims she was one of the six who were for manslaughter. She said she thinks the part about George molesting ICA was a lie and JB shouldn’t have brought it up to put that disgusting picture in their minds. She said “no one wants to see that.” She also said the SA did have good strong circumstantial evidence, but in the end it wasn’t enough.

Um…..HELLO? The sexual abuse theory is what was supposed to have explained Casey’s behavior in the 31 days following the murder. If they didn’t believe the molestation…then HOW DO THEY EXPLAIN Casey’s behavior??

I swear…it just keeps getting MORE ridiculous.

It had to be our luck to get such bad jurors – talking among themselves before deliberation, anxious to get out of there, failing preschool 101 (dot connecting), tired and zoning out too much so they didn’t pay attention, low intelligence and codependent – following along with the loudest idea. DIdn’t one say they were anxious to get out of there?
Really speaks to needing at least other qualifications for jurors like do they have the time, would they be able to hold for their opinions (while still working in a group), can they make inferences and can they follow complex scientific evidence, are they in a hurry to get somewhere?
Cristy – about what ICA posted, somewhere (sorry don’t remember) it was shown how what she posted correlated about Cindy’s MySpace post about her granddaughter being taken away from her, so perhaps it was in response
We TOTALLY need you Texans to watch out for her. I think PR with Spanish being predominant might be hard for her, they say she doesn’t really comprehend the anger toward her
She can die her hair and change her name (ANYONE can change their name) but without plastic surgery, that horse face will be hard to hide. We all know she will latch on to a guy (perhaps already corresponding with someone) ASAP and will just hop from one to the next
SOmewhere it said her aunt and uncle were going to sue her, does anyone know anything about that?
She doesn’t have a classic mental health disorder, but a personality one, which is also called characterological. Very hard to treat, but there are both criminal thinking protocals and borderline personality ones (I think also something for narcissism) , but she would have to be motivated or mandated and she isn’t either now.

  30. mellaril says:

hello everyone. i am mostly a lurker, but i have posted a few times during the trial.

i am trying to move on, but i cannot wrap my head around this jury and their verdict. this jury is more of a sociological experiment ala stanford prison experiment than an illustration of how a jury is supposed to arrive at a conclusion after the presentation of SIX WEEKS of intensive testimony.

i do feel that they represent a growing trend in this country that shows a disdain for intelligence. all of them have said that they were not spoon fed a story so they could not draw a logical conclusion. how is it possible to get 12 people this dumb in a room together? point after point is refutable “if you don’t know the crime, how can you punish?” –well, the punishment wasn’t to be decided until after guilt was established so why would that even enter into your deliberations?

as i have said a few times — my reasonable doubt lies with casey’s innocence. i sincerely tried to watch this trial objectively. i thought the state dropped the ball a couple of times, with regards to the sticker for instance. but even removing that one instance, there are still many questions that would pop up for me if i was leaning towards a “not guilty” verdict.

    -seemed like a good mom
who said this? 20 year olds who saw casey and caylee interact in controlled settings? what 20 year old knows the full scope of parenting, especially 20 year olds who are in college and are in no rush to be parents themselves? does abuse typically present itself with the parent/s openly beating their child in front of acquaintances? or is abuse a much more nefarious endeavor that is hidden from everyone but the family involved?

–george was involved in an “accident”
please tell me what human being in america would sit in a jail for THREE YEARS and roll the dice on a death sentence when they could have, at any time, admitted it was an accident and be released with a much lighter sentence for lying?

–the duct tape. there’s no way to reconcile the duct tape. dr. g FTW

    –the prosecution’s closing arguments
any and all doubt i had in regards to “connecting the dots” would have been removed by the closing arguments. the fact that the prosecution even brought this case to trial is a huge testament to the belief of casey’s guilt. would a prosecutor of 30 years waste time on prosecuting a flimsy case? i realize there is corruption at every level, but you have to consider the expertise of these prosecutors. there are hundreds of people who get arrested that NEVER have charges pressed, let alone a full blown investigation using hundreds of man hours trying to prove the defendant’s guilt.

baez, on the other hand, had a closing argument that was a like a car trying to maintain its footing on an icy road. it was truly a case of “see what sticks.” the DT didn’t even have a single story to present. if one bought the bill of goods presented by the DT it would seem that there was a county wide conspiracy to kill caylee. between the molestation (which was discarded by the JUDGE) and roy kronk housing caylee’s remains, this was the most well orchestrated crime in american history!

    –cindy lying
cindy didn’t do anything unusual in lying to save her daughter’s life. but lying is a tool used to guide the liar towards a favorable outcome. if there is no guilt, why lie? the computer searches were neither here nor there for me (because if anyone were ever to do a forensic analysis of my computer i could be indicted on any number of crimes based on my interest in true crime alone), but once her mother lied and was called out, in detail, then it became an issue for me. she lied because there was something to lie about — her daughter’s guilt.

–river cruz – what a mess. i was embarrassed for her, so awful was her testimony. how you could give this woman credence over george anthony is a mystery to me. the prosecution even got her to admit that george said he BELIEVED that it was an accident, not that it WAS an accident. she was flustered, unintelligent and combative. simply an awful witness. to entertain the notion that arpad vass had a motive for monetary gain because of this case and not consider that river cruz might be some florida trash looking for a payday is unfathomable to me.

yuri melich – i might have impeached george’s testimony based on the fact that i “didn’t like him” or “thought he was hiding something” (in my opinion he was very credible and handled himself well), but how do you discount the testimony of YURI MELICH? he is one of the finest detectives i have ever seen take the stand. he was reasonable and rational throughout questioning and was clearly very intelligent and thorough. i believed every word that came out of his mouth.

i imagine being in that jury room with a whiteboard. and i imagine writing on it GEORGE CINDY LEE CASEY. we already know by ALL of the evidence it was one of these people who killed caylee. on the LSAT there is a section called puzzles that deals with this type of question. it is a simple exercise in logic as to who killed caylee. how can 12 people be so dumb, or so weak as to be bullied into a verdict they didn’t agree with, as these 12 jurors?

i can only hope that the that there is some justice for caylee and that the DP or LWOP would seem like a blessing in compared to what awaits casey upon her release.

    /sorry for the long post

New Hampshire Lawmakers To File Caylee Bill
    Posted: 6:39 am EDT July 13, 2011

CONCORD, N.H. — New Hampshire lawmakers are planning on filing legislation named after toddler Caylee Anthony that would make it a crime to fail to report a child’s disappearance.

State Sen. David Boutin, a Hooksett Republican, is working on a version of what is being called Caylee’s Law in honor of the dead Florida toddler whose mother did not report her missing for a month.

House Majority Leader D.J. Bettencourt, a Salem Republican, also intends to ask the House Rules Committee to allow him to introduce a bill after the deadline. Bettencourt said his bill probably would give parents 48 to 72 hours to report the child missing before they face criminal charges.

In a highly publicized case, Casey Anthony was acquitted last week of murder in her daughter’s death.
