Friends and Family Concern Fuel Missing Ft. Bragg Soldier Kelli Bordeaux Investigation: Did Seeking Divorce And A New Man Cause Her Disappearance?

Fayetteville, NC- Ft. Bragg, NC- St. Cloud, Fl-

For those superstitious types out there, it came as no surprise that Friday the 13th yielded a tragedy.

PFC Kelly Bordeaux, an Army medic with the 44th Medical Brigade stationed at Fort Bragg, NC  had been “going through it”.

While she was away at boot camp, just about the two largest shocks to the system one can get, with no ability to do anything about, landed at her doorstep.

Kelli’s Father Paul passed away unexpectedly on Friday May 13th, 2011 and her husband Mike Bordeaux cheated on her with a mutual friends wife in the couple’s marital bed.

Kelli’s family and friends decided not to tell Kelli about her father out of concern it would hamper her ability to complete basic training- a move she made as a newlywed to advance her ability to train for work in the medical field.   A few days later she got the dreaded news.

While Kelli was at “basic” the knowledge that her husband Mike cheated on her and had begun drinking heavily caused her Mother Johnna to do some booting of her own.

Mike was given a one way ticket to California to return to his Mother’s home- and out of hers.

As Kelli settled into Army life, she decided to give her marriage to Mike another shot.

Perhaps her status as a soldier empowered her to think her increased level of discipline was transferrable via osmosis.

Mike and Kelli moved into an apartment in Meadowbrook and for a while the couple struggled to overcome the obstacles infidelity and Mike’s prior felony conviction for cocaine possession presented.  Mike worked a part time job in construction in Spring Lake while Kelli was on base.

Kelli realized that she married Mike as somewhat of a “transitional guy” after a long term relationship with a fellow St. Cloud man, Justin Thompson.  Kelli was committed to her career choice with the Army and while she believed he loved her, Mike was not ready for the level of responsibility she needed to support both her and their vows.

Despite his protestations to the contrary, Kelli asked Mike to leave their apartment toward the end of March, this time flying home to Kissimmee to stay with his Father and Step Mother on Cardinal Rd.

Kellli and Thompson began speaking again shortly thereafter. He came to visit her and stayed the weekend of another noteworthy calendar date- April Fools.

It was that weekend Justin and Kelli met the man claiming to be a bouncer at Froggy Bottoms Bar, Nicholas Holbert.

Holbert, a convicted sex offender classified as high risk was released from prison in 2009 after serving 7 years and 3 months for a combination of counts of indecent liberties of a child and causing injury or gross bodily harm to a 5 year old.

Holbert was arrested on April 21st for failing to register his move to a lean- to behind Froggy Bottoms and for driving an uninsured and unregistered vehicle.  He is currently in Cumberland County Jail.

Also in the Cumberland lock up is Froggy Bottoms Bar owner Stephan Wayne Cantrell.  Cantrell told the press that Holbert did not drink and did not work at the bar- but would not give his own name.

Fayetteville PD quickly learned why.

Cantrell was arrested for a failure to appear on a DUI charge in 2001.

He was a man hiding from his past in plain sight.

Cantrell was living in a home with his girlfriend Mandy Rai Murphy, who is listed as the alcohol permit holder and owner of both Froggy Bottoms and Poindexter’s Saloon.

Cantrell is alleged to be behind over $400,000 in child support which he owed to two women in Massachusetts and his former wife Cynthia in Colorado.

He is awaiting extradition in Cumberland County Detention on a federal fugitive from justice warrant for undisclosed charges out of Boston.  A misdemeanor hold for worthless checks appeared on his VINE profile over the weekend.  His connection to Holbert is unclear outside of the fellow bar patrons that have been interviewed also believed Holbert was employed by Cantrell as a bouncer or some sort of security personnel.

Adding to the mystery who’s who quagmire that is Froggy Bottoms, on Friday April 20, a week after Kelli was last seen there, a man showed up claiming to be her Dad.

Described as 6’2” with 2 missing teeth, glass eye and a 10 gallon hat in the company of a blonde woman, the unidentified individual proceeded to interview bar employees and patrons.

Not Padilla- before the thought even glances your brow, folks.

Truth In Lending Healing

In the hopes that Mike Bordeaux would accept the couple’s separation as final and begin to assist Kelli in seeking an amicable divorce, she told him the truth during a phone call over the phone Easter weekend.

She wanted him to know that she had begun dating, encouraged him to do the same, but it was very important to her that their friends and family knew about their separation.  Although it was not reciprocated, Kelli took her fidelity to her husband during their marriage seriously, and she wanted it clear- she was no cheat.

Kelli told Thompson she had confiscated Mike’s key, removed him from their bank account, and they were headed for divorce.

“..We were very happy.  We were not headed for divorce..” –Mike Bordeaux

Not so- says friends of the couple who agreed to speak to www.blinkoncrime.com on the condition of anonymity. Although they HAVE shared their concerns raised during Mr. Bordeaux’s misrepresentations during several media appearances last Friday directly with investigators, they are not prepared to speak publicly in an open criminal investigation.

While Bordeaux originally stated he left Fayetteville to visit his family and purchase a vehicle, the source(s) went on to say that detectives recently told him they are unable to verify his whereabouts for portions of the weekend that Kelli disappeared. His Father and stepmother were apparently away that weekend.

BOC has been able to confirm that Bordeaux’s account shows that he purchased a vehicle while in the St. Cloud area checks out.  However, he purchased the truck for $1000 cash, and registered it solely in his name, on April 10.  Three days prior to the fateful and ominous 13th.

It did not occur over the weekend Kelli disappeared according to 1st Class Auto Sales in Orlando.

The maroon 1994 Chevy S10 is exempt from mileage declaration, but a source inside the investigation has confirmed that during a recent interview with police, the odometer reading was 385,000.  The last confirmed reading according to the VIN report in 2009 was 305,000.  The source also added that investigators questioned  Bordeaux about a request they were told about him attempting to gain access to Kelli’s bank account.  When confronted Bordeaux’s response was that “they had bills that needed to be paid.”

Bouncer OR Bounced Her?

Maybe both, maybe neither.

Holbert told Kelli he had to work as a bouncer the night of the 13th, but agreed to pick her up and drop her off.

Justin Thompson had tickets to a concert in the Orlando area that evening. He  and Kelli texted back and forth all night.

The last two known images of Kelli Bordeaux were texts she sent to Thompson from her home and from the bar, respectively.

The timeline of her texts, which have been obtained exclusively by www.blinkoncrime.com do not support Holbert’s public comments that the pair left after 1 am when Kelli announced she was tired and wanted a ride home.

In fact, it was 12:46 AM when Kelli texted to Thompson the word “driving”.  A few minutes later  another text asking Justin to call her ASAP, and then nothing again until the infamous “I got home safely call me tomorrow” text that nobody seems to believe was sent by Kelli.*

Thompson called her as soon as he got it but her phone went directly to voice mail.

Here is the problem- bar patrons at the “Bottoms” think the 1:20-1:30 AM timeline is correct.

Did Kelli think they were heading out but got waylaid?

Thompson was arrested on April 17 on a failure to appear warrant when he was interviewed by Osceola County as requested by Fayetteville Police . While he has had a few of his own dalliances with the law,  He has cooperated fully with detectives, was able to provide a verified alibi for the night Kelli went missing and is not considered a suspect.  Fayatteveille homicide detective Jeff locklear cloned the texts from his phone.

Thompson was also so concerned about not being able to reach Kelli the following day as her last text requested,  he called FPD.    Thompson was told she would not be considered missing based on the information he provided, she was an adult and he was not a relative which would be required to file a missing person report should one become necessary.  He called again on Sunday as well as a call to her CO at Ft. Bragg,  and a report was finally filed.

Justin Thompson and Mike Bordeaux have never met and while Mike was aware Kelli had begun dating someone, he was not aware he was now living miles away from him.

Bordeaux said in his interview that although he and Kelli were happily married with no problems, he did not consider the fact that the two last had contact at 3 PM on Friday April 13th,  and he did not learn his wife was missing until Monday Morning the 16th, odd.  He went on to say that he was busy visiting his parents with whom he had been staying with for weeks, and he felt Kelli was just “doing her thing.”

Bordeaux was contacted by the manager of the apartment building seeking permission to let police and Army personnel into the residence as Kelli did not report for duty that morning.  He gave his permission and headed to Fayetteville.

Police inventoried the home and located Kelli’s purse, car keys and identification.  Friends say Kelli typically only took her debit card and house key which she carried in her shorts pocket when she went out.  Kelli’s cavalier was parked in the usual spot, in the usual way, backed-in.

What he has also left out of public interviews is that he claimed to investigators that at approximately 1 am on Tuesday morning April 17th, he was awakened by a call to his phone from his wife Kelli’s iphone.

There was nobody on the line he says.  The husband of a missing soldier, his wife, calls his cell after over 12 hours of frantic worry by her platoon, family, friends and police and he waited to alert LE until the following morning.

He did however call her phone back and get her voice mail as everyone has since the early hours of the 14th.  Fayetteville detectives told Bordeaux it was some sort of malfunction- Kelli’s phone has been off since shortly after she was last seen.

When Kelli’s only brother Matt Henson arrived in Fayetteville the day after his and Kelli’s other sister Olivia Cox, Bordeaux was inside the apartment where he has remained.

Over the weekend, 500 volunteers arrived to help search for PFC Kelli Bordeaux. FPD  Lead Investigator Jeff Locklear  says new leads bring the focus back to the area.

No Soldier left behind is military branch and gender neutral.  They mean it.

I so want to know if Kelli sang that night at Froggy Bottoms.  Bar staff and patrons interviewed say she did not.

Maybe she did, privately to herself.

Private to Private.

Kelli’s mom and Mike on Today Show.

Disclosure: I am a trained analyst, but no accelerated specificity in body language as a post offense indicator.

That said- none needed for the three minutes and 4 seconds of that video.

Watch Mrs. Henson closely when Mike speaks. He makes is asked 2 questions/makes 2 statements in which she immediately darts her eyes downward.

You could wedge a bus between the two, and neither would mind nor move.

At no time does Mrs. H look over at her son in law, notably when he refers to his wife as “her” without ever saying her name.

    Hard to watch.

Great job on this Blink. You have so much new info it was mind boggling to read!

Is there any chance that if Mike did this crime, he used Kelli’s own vehicle to move her and dispose of her, then brought it back and backed it into her space-just like she always did?

Her DNA, etc. would not necessarily show up in his new vehicle. I hope her car got processed thoroughly-just in case.

I have had a bad gut feeling from the start that her hubby did this and that he had plenty of time to do so. Now, knowing that his dad and stepmom were not at their home to verify his whereabouts that weekend, and LE can’t verify where he was for portions of the weekend-it’s even more worrisome.

  3. SouthernMom says:

Agreed Blink – when Mike is asked if he thinks Holbert is involved…I don’t believe his answer and body language (shakes head no slightly). I feel he is extremely uncomfortable answering questions (not just because on TV). MOO.

Well now!!! Hubby is here in FL visiting his Dad who just happens to be out of town at the time their DIL goes missing. Ok, say we believe the story told by the RSO and she does want out of the car because she isn’t comfy w/him knowing which door she goes into, then she spots hubs on way in and he forces her to go w/him! Oh, how I would love to know the ping info on the “malfunction” call made to hubby’s own phone! I bet he was accidentally dialed his phone while disposing of it! I’m usually wrong on my slueting but I have always thought hubby did something to her and now I see he had ample opportunity to commit a crime against Kelli! Thank u over and over Mrs. Blink for filling in the missing blanks! Also, thanks to the friends who came forward to talk to you!!!!! My prayers and thought go out to them and Kelli’s family!

Has Mike’s cell phone records been obtained? Have Nick’s cell phone records been obtained – I don’t remember seeing that it mentioned that he owned one, but one would thing he’d need a phone for calls to make pickup arrangements, unless he used FB’s.

  7. TJ says:

It might just be there is a serial killer on the loose. I stumbled across this link and a woman named Heather Hodges disapeared 100 miles away from Froggy Bottoms on April 9th. 10 other women have also gone missing. They all look the same! You need to check out their pictures it’s scary how similar they all look.

    From the website:
Heather Hodges went missing Monday April 9th, 2012 from Rocky Mount VA five days later Kelli Bordeaux went missing on Saturday April 14th, 2012 from Fayetville NC.
1). Heather Hodges has long blonde hair, she is 5′ 1″ tall and weighs 100 lbs, she is 22 years old
2). Kelli Bordeaux has long blonde hair, she is 5′ 0″ tall and weighs 99 lbs, she is 23 years old.

In all of the 12 cases of the missing blonde haired petite females, seen above, no homes or apartments have been broken into, none of the women’s boyfriends or husbands or fathers or brothers are a suspect in their disappearance.

All of the 12 missing blonde haired petite women were abducted outside of their homes or apartments, from open areas on streets or roads or carports. From April 2011 there has been an abduction every other month up to the end of October 2011, then the abductions start again in March and April 2012, there were 5 abductions in the month of April since 2005, this is a pattern.

    Link: http://pibillwarner.wordpress.com/2012/04/27/updated-12-petite-blonde-females-have-been-abducted-and-cops-have-no-answers-for-the-families-new-photos/

TJ, that is just not accurate.

Kelli Bordeaux- FPD is not discussing POI or suspects, but until they announce they have cleared Mike or anyone else, it is not accurate to say she could be part of a serial anything- and is irresponsible to suggest same, imo.

Holly Bobo- assailant seen, he accosted the victim at her home, carport area- technically, that is tresspassing and a possible break in to her vehicle.

Lauren Spierer- was last seen with a man she wsa believed to have been romantic with that evening potentially, and although police will not say so publicly, I can assure you he is a defacto suspect.

I notice Jacque Waller, a blonde woman from Cape G went missing, has not been found, but her husband was just arrested for her murder.

Karen Swift- her husband is a defacto suspect, again, just because police rarely name a poi or a suspect prior to their arrest, does not mean they do not have one and the evidence definitely points in his direction, I can assure you.

Britanee Drexell- A registered sex offender is a named suspect in her case, and I personally believe he may be responsible for others, or at least other attempts.

It may be a fair statement to say petite women can be more vulnerable, but as you can see, the facts of these cases do not indicate a serial relationship to each other whatsoever.

I did not expect you to know this of course, just fyi.

Blink, your article mentioned that you have obtained the timeline of texts. Other than Justin, was there anyone else that Kelli texted or received text messages from, after midnight? Can you say who & what times?
Do you believe that Nick Holbert & Kelly left the bar before 1am?
My last question is Mike Bordeaux claims “that at approximately 1AM on Tueday April 17th, he was awakened by a call to his phone from his wife Kelli’s iphone”. Has this phone call been corroborated? If this call turns out to be false, everything Mike say’s should be scrutinized. Curious on your thoughts…

Here are my questions. Have read everything, did I miss these answers?

    1. Nick says he dropped Kelli off at the entrance because he suspects she doesn’t want him to know where she lived. So where did he pick her up?

    2. Why the ride from Nick? I understand no driving when drinking but were cabs not an option?

    3. If we assume the person who took Kelli sent the last text as the family thinks, why would Nick (assuming he is assailant) make up a story about dropping her at the entrance and send that text? If the text is sent to cover his tracks than he might as well say he dropped her at the house. Why say something that people question if you are sending texts putting Kelli at home. If you want people to assume she disappeared between the drop off and reaching the house, then you would not send the text.

He picked her up at the same place. Kelli discussed this with Justin before Nick picked her up, so his story in that regard is credible for me.

I agree 100%- that is what makes me doubt that Nick is lying. Think about it- if I am going to take the time to send a text from her phone, of a person I just harmed and was last seen with, as a dude in the system, and clearly aware of the fact that he would be suspect numero uno- why not text this:

Nick dropped me off, sorry to worry you, super nice guy, talk to you tomorrow.

    OR

several permutations of texts exonerating in nature to him, inculpatory to someone else is how someone that spent nearly 7 1/2 years in prison would react in a highly stressful situation.

I am not convinced that Kelli did not send the “got home safe” text. I think it is because of the order and timeline of the others that it is being considered not her, but again, that is my personal feeling as an investigative analyst and should be ruled out or it should remain in “play”.

In fact, it supports the fact that bar patrons, staff, and Nick’s account say they left around 1:20-1:30.

If it was her- she encountered a situation once she left Nick’s vehicle.

If it was not her, then the timeline is an occurrance between 12:46 am and 1:30 am occurring in a 1.7 mi radius, and would have to have been incapacitated by some means very quickly.

There is so much in this backstory, and then to have her getting a ride from a dangerous RSO- just mind boggling.

According to at&t, that call did not happen, was a malfunction of some kind and that her phone remained off.

I will say it may not be recordable in their system as an incoming call if the call is disconnected prior to it reaching the recipient.

As an example, on my droid I have a bad habit of scrolling for a contact and inadvertently calling someone I did not intend.

By the time it shows “calling” on my end, I press end call and that may or may not register.

    re: Malfunction call

iPhone batteries are not easily removed. Unlike most smart phones, there is no user accessible battery compartment. The batteries can be changed but it is a somewhat difficult process – see http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Battery/3141/1

If KB’s phone stopped pinging shortly after her disappearance, most likely the phone was destroyed (broken, submerged in water, etc). In this case, it would not be possible to reactivate the phone 4 days later.

It is possible that her battery just happened to die as she returned home, but I doubt that.

Right, but we do not know if her phone was simply switched off. The plus/minus radius for a ping in that area is 1.7 mi

  16. Tar Heel Gal says:

In the Today show link posted by Blink, Mrs. Henson & Mike Bordeaux are in Newport, TN, not back home in FL?? If Kelli had made it public to friends & family that she & Mike were over, why would he be stoopid enough to keep denying it in TV interviews, just say, yeah, we were having some problems but were trying to work it out? You know you’re gonna be POI #1 right off. I can imagine mom still being beyond livid at him for the cheating while K was away at basic trg and wonder if that’s the chill on screen in that new video. In that accompanying written write-up, there’s a link to a 4-26 video w/K’s brother & Mike, doesn’t seem to be any tension at all in that one. If family even slightly suspects Mike, how could they stomach to be on camera with him w/o throttling him, and why would mom & Mike have traveled out-of-state together to Newport? I see so much more reaction in mom’s comment about “Mr. Nick” (SO Holbert) (write-up calls it “tersely responds”) than to Mike’s words, wow. She looks downward a few times when TV chick is speaking, too. Ms. Blink, thanks for the clarification on the lake bag w/clothes, moving on, and whew.
Blink, Re: E. Edwards–agree, she didn’t deserve that twit (whom I voted for for NC Senator way back when, grrr). I feel so for her kids and that little girl birthed by his mistress. Poor Cate left the courtroom in tears yesterday when testimony by his staffers of her mom’s reactions to finding about affair hit, local news reported. She’s a better daughter than I would be, supporting him in court each day…

There is tension in that video Tar Heel- Matt elbowed him twice and Mike took a question direct at Mike.

MOO Mike had Kelli’s phone and had it turned off but turned it on in order to fake this in hopes of sidetracking the investigation, then got rid of it for good. Don’t think phones malfunction or misdial without a body or interaction with the phone in some way…and I believe LE knows this too. If Kelli was able to attempt one last call, but IMO she was already gone at this time, it would NOT be to Mike, that is suspicious in itself.

  19. SouthernMom says:

Again…NO WAY you wait until morning to let someone know you missed a call from your missing spouse’s phone!!!!!!

  20. JT says:

Blink, I guess the 64 Dollar question is can anyone verify the whereabouts of Mike from about 4pm on Friday 13th till about 10am on Saturday 15th. It would take about 8 hours (each way) driving for Mike to be in Fayetteville. Also, Mike’s phone records for this time period would come in to play… If he was seen in Florida, or his phone records for those 18 hours can place him in Florida, he would be eliminated… Is there any word on this??

  21. SouthernMom says:

I guess I should be fair here and include with my earlier post regarding my opinion that Mike could have had Kelli’s phone and faked the call.

It is also very possible another person faked this call to give Mike and family a reason to believe she is still alive to confuse the investigation. Mike’s name could have been mentioned on local news and the perp chose to single ring call his phone for the decoy. That doesn’t explain why after seeing the call and calling her back and getting voice mail, Mike did not think it important to call his Mother In Law, Brother In Law, Sister In Law or LE to let them know what had happened immediately.

  22. redly says:

She may not have wanted other people — not just her husband — seeing another guy drop her off or pick her up. May have had a nosy neighbor she didn’t want talking about her, or another guy she was potentially interested in who lived in the complex. Especially if she had also had the old boyfriend over the past two weeks — may not have wanted people seeing her with a third guy.

Still, until ruled out, I think we all have an idea of who statistically is likely involved. For his sake, I hope the police can clear him, not just leave it in limbo as the family has to harbor suspicions.

    Agreed, 100%.

Only thing i wonder about was!!!! did she call him for a ride or did she call the bar and ask if anyone there could pick her up?
I have read NH was at the bar then left to go pick her up.

The arrangements were made with him.

Just wanted to let everyone who has an I Phone about this awesome app, and it’s free. My girlfriend and I, as well as her two daughters, ages 12 and 14, have an I Phone. This app is called Life 360. I urge all families with I Phones to check it out. Not only does it give you up to the second GPS location of each phone on the plan, but it keeps a weeks worth of history (every ping). And here is the best part, it shows you the where the registered sex offender’s live in reference to where you are at the that very moment. It gives you their picture, address and charges they were convicted of. Today’s world has gotten so crazy, you can never be too safe. I’m sure there are similiar app’s for droids as well. We are very safety concious, and only found out about this app a few monts ago. Hope this helps at least one family out there.

    Outstanding recommendation Donnie thank you

wouldnt the “call me asap” happen while she is still in the car with holbert.i wonder if the malfunction call ,isnt a product of her phone being hacked by hubby ,to acces her messages & texts.or if it was triggered by technicians investigating her records,if thats possible. i was looking up iphone 4 malfunctions, and havent seen the “makes calls after being turned off”,but the touch screen can activate while on a call and makes calls ,has to do with the infrared signal not being fully covered while close to your head.

Last summer, when I was 23 (I am also small and blonde), I initiated a separation with my spouse – one that he was very much in denial of. I was very close to divorce, which I had told him, but he didn’t seem to understand. During that time period, I was hanging out with an old male friend that I had interest in, and when I told my spouse about it, the extreme rage in his eyes was surprising. After having been in that situation, I can very easily see how Mike may have been feeling last month and how he may have done something crazy.

If Mike had purchased a car to drive up with the intent to try and “work things out”, I would assume he’d tell someone. Makes things a little suspect.

If Mike did drive up there to cause her grave harm, he took a big chance in purchasing a vehicle that had 345,000+ mileage on it. That’s a huge risk. He had to have stopped for gas numerous times. Any record of his debit card usages during this time?

One thing I believe is N.H. did not lie when he said I asker her if she was she married; and she said, “well, it’s complicated.” Wow it really is.

You would think NH would not do anything to her because he knows the whole bar knows he took her away from bar.

I wonder if the big Boss said you don’t have to come back tonight. I believe they close at two, or maybe the boss said dont forget to come back. We don’t close until two, o.k.”

  36. susanm says:

shutting down a bar can take a while ,the waitstaff leaves first ,the bartenders dont leave til 3 or 4. bar laws require all drinks off the tables at shutdown time. when “all” the money is being handled, most bars dont have anyone but the one bartender and the manager in the bar,for security reasons, and the doorman is vital at this time ,he is one telling people “gottta go, dont have to go home ,but you gotta go” .it would hard to imagine that holbert wouldnt be part of the shut down ,or that if he returned ,no-one saw him.

  37. mayhem says:

I’m still trying to wrap my head around a young woman going to a bar alone. And relying on a guy she just met recently to pick her up and drop her off. All while she had a car. And texting her boyfriend pics of herself as she’s headed out on the town, essentially by herself. I’m not criticizing, I’m just trying to understand her thoughts that night. When she and Justin met Holbert, they must have had lengthy conversations and established quite a tight connection for her to have that kind of comfort level with him.

Mike’s last contact with Kelli was 3 pm that Friday? Wish we knew the tone and content of that discussion. If he left within the hour, he’d be there by midnight.

I know he drove it there Monday!

Did he drive it there friday?

That is what some are suggesting Eileen, but according to Mike’s statements he was in Florida all weekend. So if you ask Mike, no, he did not drive his truck to Fayetteville that night…but there are some who believe he had the means, opportunity and motive to make that trip. MOO.

    Hi Blink…
I had heard that the area behind Froggys was searched very well…. I read that the LE were called back there because someone noticed a stench coming from behind the bar… No word about the stench from LE, but I heard that a pair of muddy sneakers/boots were found behind the Tiki Bar…?? Your input would be appreciated…. TIA… :)

Local central NC news had a new interview w/Mrs. Henson, answers my question as to, in the Today Show video, why she & Mike B. were in Newport TN, report says that’s “back home in TN.” But not why they’re together in TN…. Maybe she moved back there after her husband passed last year…

Oh my, Kelli looks so much like her mom, you can really see it in this interview. Ms. B, yeah, I saw that Mike took a question directed at brother, he seemed very nervous & talky in that interview, but still doesn’t seem that tense between them to me–and that’s why there’s a BOC and a not Tar Heel Gal on Crime, woo! I bow to your track record, ma’m.
This is almost like a perfect storm of bizarre complications for someone to disappear this young lady–marital issues, SO taxi service, hinky hubby timeline, glass-eyed creeps showing up, call from her phone, and the scary lost window of 48 hrs when her FL friend was trying to get LE to look for her, what a difficult set of circumstances.

O/T, Blink or anyone–y’all seen anything about the 2yo Caleigh Harrison from MA missing from beach for 3 weeks? Never watch Nancy G on HLN but saw last night parents interviewed–you talk about some bright red flags, good grief! Ms. Blink, will you be following this? They just keep coming, how do you have the energy, my dear?

TY Tar Heel- I may cover it, but backlog, kids sports and pressing professional commitments may preclude.

  41. Jack says:

Blink – Can you tell us anything about the search results of Holbert’s vehicle? Did LE get a search warrant for Mike’s new truck as well? What is Mike’s story about where he was Friday night and Saturday morning? Do we know when he attempted to access the bank account? Did Kelli say anything to Justin in their numerous texts on Friday about her last conversation with Mike? I think it’s quite telling that Mike didn’t tell LE about the 1:00 a.m. cell phone call until the next morning. If one of my loved ones was missing, first of all I wouldn’t be sleeping, and second, I’d be immediately sprinting to the police department to show them the call on my phone.

It is my understanding nothing nefarious was found in the vehicle.

At publication time, to my knowledge no warrants had been secured against Mike’s vehicle, but I will likely not be given that information going forward.

I was flabbergasted at the 1am call. I was flabbergasted that he was just told his wife was missing and unaccounted for since the previous Saturday ( you heard his own words- that never happened and he was immediately concerned) and he did not call detectives, 911, or any member of the family.

Any person missing a loved one’s first thought would have been.. OMG they are in trouble, alive somewhere and possibly incapacitated, and they need me. That would terrify a person, or should.

To be honest, I held the piece as long as I did until I learned that.

I want to be clear I do not know if he harmed Kelli, but the man’s behavior and storytelling motivations have past the “suspect” mark for me.

  42. Donnie says:

Why is it that the public has not been shown a picture of Mike’s “newly” purchased truck? (Mike not telling anyone of the purchase smells like Scott Peterson’s boat purchase) You would think LE would want a picture of the truck out in the media. Who knows, maybe somebody out there was following a truck fitting that description up I-95 that Fri, April 13th. Or maybe a gas station attendant was outside the station either having a smoke or emptying the garbage and noticed that truck. Did the truck have a topper or bed cover? That would make transporting and disposing of a body alot more discreet? And if that were the case, she could be hundreds of miles away. Would cadaver dogs still hit on the back of the truck after a week and a good cleaning?

  43. Jack says:

Do either Froggy Bottom’s or Kelli’s apartment building have security cameras?

Excellent Question, I am not sure, will put that on my list.

  44. Flo says:

There was a horrible killing near Macbae, SC not too…far from and on the back roads way out in the country, these little convenience gas stores had a clear video of the killer following her. Bet a lot of these convenience stores have them, so whether Mike used credit cards or not, they may have him on tape if they really wanted to use some time, a lot of time I guess checking every store for his truck.

He told someone right after it happened, he wanted to make Keli happy and was looking for her a car.

  45. Flo says:

On WBTV, Charlotte, N. C. Thursday night, Molly Granthan, at eleven last night gave a long report on an manual on sex offenders. Someone gave her the manual to do a report on them. It was very shocking. She said they used to sell them on Amazon

The firt thing she said is the sex offenders and Pedi…usually make “friends” first with the adults and then go after the kids. Sometimes they will try to marry a fat single mother to get at a child.

Then, there were other things that made me sick about what they teach the kids, stuff like they can teach a two year old to have orgasms and on and on. Molly, the reporter, thinks parents should become aware of how many there are out they, and so do I. that is why I am telling you if any parents out there should check out WBTV, charlotte to see the report.

  46. Flo says:

Uh oh, the sex offender thing should have gone to Isabel’s thread. I tried to get it over there. Sorry.

  47. Tracy says:

This Is By far the BEST acticle I have read!! Great Job!!!

Thank you Tracy, and welcome to BOC.
