Kyron Horman Missing Case Breaking News: Remains Believed To Be Human Located Off Sauvie Island
Sauvie Island, Oregon-There are unconfirmed reports that a teenage boy fishing off of Sauvie Island located a human skull, and potentially other human body parts.
Update 1: As referenced on KOIN, a teenage fisherman believes he snagged a scalp with human hair attached, which he originally thought was horse hair. Columbia County detectives cordoned off the scene last evening and MCSO dive teams entered the water but found nothing. The possible “hair” was sent for testing.
Multnomah County Sheriff Office will not comment on the find, or confirm whether their office has facilitated the removal of same, or forwarded any items to the medical examiner for testing.
Following the disappearance of Kyron Horman, Sauvie Island has been the subject of repeated searchers for the missing Skyline second grader with no results.
It is also the former home of a man considered to be Federal fugitive following a confrontation with a Lincoln City officer with nearly fatal results. Officer Steven Dodds was able to return to duty after extensive rehabilitation.
Durham was a Sauvie Island resident for over 6 years and a volunteer fire fighter until he was removed from duty 6 months prior to the shooting.
David Durham’s dog was recovered injured following what appeared to be an accident in the suspects vehicle and is being cared for by a friend of the family. Mr. Durham has not been seen since his vehicle was recovered in the bay town of Waldport, Oregon.

Erin-Todd Hansen on Linked-In (link won’t post) was an IT guy for OHSU for a few years which is the same place Goldfarb implemented the university health system, though not the same time frame. Erin-Todd Hansen is related to David and Christina Hansen who attached their names to the obit Ode posted along with Logan Storm. I think Logan Storm could have ties to that house on NW Plainview Rd.
His girlfriend was Amy Anderton, according to this article. I wonder who his roommate was.

Imo retaining/holding onto your job in a field where you have a work
history and experience after your marriage &/or children, and
with family or hired supports is one thing.
Getting one’s first job in a new field, when never previously employed in the
field & at an older age, married, with 2-3 children, and full-time house & yard care,
while unable to hire sitters or nannies to go interview much less work,
is another kettle of fish entirely, says this voice of experience. Many a professional
degree shipwrecks for older women who’ve never had a job in the field on husband,
housework, & children– with supportive husbands. We don’t go kill our adoptive, step or natural children
in anger and probably a majority live within the marriage.

As a woman who took post grad courses this Summer with the kiddies under tow, and having to hire a West coast proctor for exams so I could take them past midnight just for some uniterrupted quiet or because that was my available study time due to the subject matter I would have up on the big screen in my office, that is a very real scenario. In my former professional life, I negotiated consulting contracts with boundaries on travel and leave time, as well as working from home, because I had to transport the children daily due to Dad’s work schedule for the most part. There is no question I did not qualify for many contracts because of it, but I needed the flexibility and was not going to be dishonest and most of my clients were a minimum of an hour commute at the closest.
Not complaining, as many people do not have such options and ramping back up is very difficult.

@Rose and Blink – I do not wish to be argumentative, so I will “rest my case” after this. I have NO doubt you have both worked hard. I appreciate your views about age, experience, employment, and dedication to family. That said, I can’t buy that Terri couldn’t find a job because of her age, experience and education levels, couldn’t go to interviews due to child care issues, her disagreeable husband, etc. This woman needed some good career counseling and she could have gotten it free from Pacific University and other places. Her profile on LinkedIn is pitiful, IMO, and the education information she apparently had on FB wasn’t presented well. (I copied those if you want to see again, but I think it’s been posted at least a few times.)
One of the best ways to get a job in education if you have the credentials is through substituting. You can sign up for several districts and end up with a variety of recommendations from the contacts you make. She wasn’t just in and out in a day of subbing – she had 2 longer term assignments where administrators could get to know her work. She should have presented a strong application to a human resources department, but she apparently didn’t. And she could have continued as a sub. Once people know you and ask for you, it can be very regular work and you learn where the openings are coming up. Often, in tight budget times it is harder for the experienced teachers to be hired because they cost the district more when years of experience are credited on the pay scale.
Consider her history from the point of view of a career counselor – to me, her career aspirations seem like wishful thinking rather than a strong personal effort with a sense of direction toward her goal. We can guess she didn’t get great recommendations from the teacher whose materials she tossed, or the teacher who offered her living space and then had some of her possessions moved into the rain – these things seem small, but they add up.

There’s enough time around 2002 and 2003 (when Terri and James moved in with Kaine) to do a 5th year Masters in Teaching program, but the Reading Specialist endorsement should have been in addition to her basic work, as would anything related to Special Education endorsement. She would have been going to classes, studying, doing sub work (she was on call until 2006), taking care of James and Kyron when he was there, and probably continuing to go to a gym. Later on, with James and Kyron gone to visit other parents some of the time and Kaine able to work from home or vary his hours, she wasn’t just stuck to the kitchen sink and yard work.
She was allowed to list volunteer hours in lieu of coursework to renew her certificate, but it doesn’t appear she did. You have to have administrative verification of volunteer hours if you submit them for a renewal. A resume can say anything until someone wants to verify your hours.
Bodybuilding – Kaine said in one interview that doing it again was her idea and he encouraged her because she wanted to do it. It may have had more to do with moving past age 40 than any particular benefits, but who knows.
Blink probably summed it up best here:
“I dunno, as a woman with her teaching masters, I am not seeing her posting with glee that her own son went from D’s to A’s once he moved to her parents if it was a battle between the two of them.”

HORMAN: Well, again, it`s tough to answer. It`s all about — it`s all part of an ongoing criminal investigation, and the details really are things that we can`t talk about. The investigators, while they`re looking for Kyron, it`s either a direct path there or it`s a process of elimination to get there. And like I said, without the person knowing where he`s at coming forward with that information, it`s extremely difficult to locate where he is.
So they`ve been working leads and tips. They continue to do that, and they`re trying to rule out other people at the school that day, other scenarios that could have played out that afternoon and really get down to what`s…

While their is so much that I do not understand about Kaine, I wonder what he meant by “other scenarios that could have played out that AFTERNOON.” He did not say that morning or that day, but that afternoon. After so many months of 8:45 vs 9:00 am, does that imply they know what happened in the morning and Kyron was handed off? possibly multiple times?

I know Blink says SZ is not on the list, but the confusing Task Force letter and resulting list tells me that LE is looking for someone who was there, but does not show up on the list. The way I see it, SZ was either a perfect stranger, so no one is able to ID him, or his presence there is being covered by someone and IMO they may not necessarily be TH. So anyway, here’s three people who live on that street that were in attendance that morning, starting with Raymond Scott McBeth, Carol Reifsteck, and Barrie Levinson.
Also wanted to note that we’ve had a lot of discussion about an electrician/plumber or some other handyman construction type person, perhaps being involved, and knowing Kyron from a previous engagement.
Craig Anderson also lives on that street and is a plumber. Also note that in one of Terri’s FB photos, she shows a kitchen sink faucet broken by the baby, and there is also a shot of the fixed sink. One of the comments posted on said photos, mentions something about Kaine being gone when it happened. Now, I’m not pointing fingers, but given what we’ve been told by the family, Terri trading sexual favors for landscaping, or whatever. Who is the plumber that fixed her sink? May she do it herself, I don’t know. Just wish we knew what tips led LE to that street.
To be clear, I guess I shouldn’t say they were in “attendance”, we have no idea whether LE was trying to be coy and put people on the list who were not there (such as Kaine Horman). So I should say those three people are on the TF list as having been there.

In my pondering thoughts and researching NW Plainview and trying to connect the stolen GPS from Lake O, I’m wondering if that white truck that Roger spoke of early on that he said IIRC pulled to the end of the street, sat for a few minutes and left, was in fact someone using a (the stolen GPS) to put directions in, because they were lost.
would make sense if the GPS tracking is what lead the FBI there.

Okay, now I’ve read all of it, and this is the part that jumped out at me:

It seems to me this is the first time that KH, or anyone for that matter, has publicly said that TH took him from the school. We’ve had people say she is responsible, involved, etc., but here he says TH removed Kyron from the school. This fits with all the news articles that have said TH was the last person with him that day. Well, IDK how LE or anyone else can say this as though it is a fact. If that were true, and they KNEW it because of a witness or whatever, then surely TH would have been arrested, charged with something by now. I am so frustrated, grrr…

silly question, but since there is such a thing as computer forensics where they can pull the shadows off hard drives (or however that works) … and there are cell phone pings that can be tracked back to cell phones in an ares … well, isn’t it just possible that someone somewhere who makes GPS equipment, can track GPS signals or thins somehow?
Guess I’ll ask Google.
I know you would need the actual GPS, but when you enter information into any gps, doesn’t it go somewhere so that there would be a record?

@January – thanks. That’s the one I found from the name you gave. Very well written starting with June 4th. There is one part that I don’t understand – I copied it below. After I read this, I read backwards in his timeline, but it still wasn’t clear. If there was a 9-1-1 call made AFTER Terri moved out, who made it and how is it related to the case? Is this a call that is in addition to the calls we’ve talked about before – the one from Christmas 2009, the one from Mother’s Day, and the 2 from the day of the sting? Do I at least have these 4 correctly listed?

Examiner.com is reporting that the 9-1-1 call did originate from the home of Terri and Kaine after Terri moved out. LE did not mention who called, but did mention that the call is now considered part of the case concerning the disappearance of Kyron.

What day did Kaine move back into the house and did anyone ever verify or ask about this from Willamette Week’s “The Kyron Files”: “When he’s not being briefed by investigators, consulting with his divorce lawyer, and caring for his 20-month-old daughter, Kiara, he squeezes in time for the media and a few hours of work from home. He also may have found ways of blowing off steam—neighbors report they’ve heard gunfire coming from the property for hours on end.”
Or is there an error in the text from the Examiner.com?

I guess Im missing the point of your post. So are you saying Terri should have been able to get employment If she wanted to but was irresponsible about her Facebook and Linked in accounts and also was not making the correct connections to get a job?
Maybe she wanted to stay home with Kiara and did not want full time employment.
i think that the timeline you posted has a lot of (non-fact) opinions in it the one from the Oregonian is much better IMO.

@cd – As I mentioned, my timeline is based on the same article you reference plus her LinkedIn and FB education information and other articles. I wanted to look at her work history in the context of what was going on in her life and without the narration of the Oregonian article. The point was that I believe what was holding her back from getting a job was the way she interacted with (lack of networking) others in the schools where she worked and at Skyline, and the way she presented her achievements, much more so than her age, household responsibilities, and “non-supportive” husbands. I wasn’t saying she was irresponsible – I said she needed a good career counselor and advice, the kind graduates are normally offered by their universities, if she was truly serious about getting a job.
It could be true that she didn’t want to work, but at the same time, she apparently gave people the impression that she did want a teaching job. She didn’t have to renew her teaching license, but she did, perhaps thinking about what she would do if she divorced Kaine?
“Terri fired off long e-mails to Kyron’s mother, Desiree Young, peppered with complaints. She was venting about the teacher and why she should have her job,” Desiree said, “and she was venting about Kaine — everything.”
“On Facebook, Terri Horman said she had wanted to be a teacher since she was 7 years old.”

Kaine calls it “my money”, but then he refers to “spending our money”. Maybe he was making a distinction between the money he earned, and the money she earned. It could be that he did not tell her what to do with her child support, earnings, and unemployment other than to contribute part of it to the household expenses, but he did feel he had a right to have her consult with him about how his own earnings were spent. I know couples who manage finances that way, and it generally works.
The more I read and re-read Kaine’s description of their relationship, including finances, the more I get the feeling he just wanted her to be happy or satisfied or content with their married life, and didn’t know how to make that happen. Whether he was clueless about the relationship or she had a deep dissatisfaction within herself that no one could fix, or both – it’s quite sad that they didn’t or couldn’t find someone to help them work it out.

“OK, I love you but this is ridiculous. What you are doing is parental child abduction and is illegal. I need to know where my daughter is and if she is safe. You were really upset with me when you left. What is it that I/we need to do to reconcile this? I don’t want to call 911 but I need a resolution please. If I don’t hear from you in an hour I will call 911.”
my question: Did she ever communicate to KH about what had occurred earlier . . . you know, something like Dear Husband, please come home, I need you, I’m so scared after the most terrifying experience with men threatening me, I’m so confused with the police and everything, etc. ?

“I just called 911. They directed me to non-emergency. Guess what? Since we are married we have joint custody and he can do that. Gee, too bad I didn’t know that. I told the dispatch who we are in relation to the Kyron Horman case and she is having someone call me. Give a mark for the FBI.”
my question: TH went through 2 divorces when her son J was a child. How could an intelligent woman like her claim to not know about custody issues? Plus she went to the gym earlier in the day looking for KH and babyK and according to the gym owner, TH (allegedly) said if she (babyK) was there she would have taken her . . . so it sounds like she DID know about that option.
