Kyron Horman Missing Case: Terri Horman Breaks Her Silence In People Magazine Interview

New York, NY-  For nearly five and a half years Terri Horman has refused to speak publicly about her step-sons case.  Outside of one assertion of her innocence while on the stand in a name change hearing she ultimately was denied, Horman did not speak to any reporters or answer any of their questions regarding Kyron Hormans disappearance. Until Now.

Horman courtesy of People

Horman was interviewed by People Magazines Elaine Aradillas for both the print and online editions,  and will be doing a series of personal interviews over the next week, to include wwww.blinkoncrime.com.

In the brief online video excerpt , the second part to air on ABC’s Good Morning America Friday morning,  Horman  maintains she is deaf in her left ear, a critical factor in the outcome of her first polygraph.

“… At what point are Kyron’s biological parents going to realize I don’t have the answers, they need to change this thing around…”

“…There is so much the public is not being told about this investigation, that’s why I am doing this- nobody is looking for Kyron…”

Horman’s interview drew sharp reactions from Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, Kyron’s parents.

“…Why is she silent for 5 1/2 years if she is innocent.  I want her to tell me where Kyron is.  If she is innocent she should call Multnomah County Sheriffs Office and sit down for an interview…”-  Desiree Young

“Hi friends. Yes I am well aware of the tabloid journalism piece in the media today. FYI – there will be more of the same coming Friday
We have a HOST of MCSO and FBI investigators STILL standing by with interviews and polygraphs when someone actually wants to cooperate. FEEL FREE TO STOP BY THEY ARE WAITING!! STILL!! Until then we’ll stick with the scores of people with valid/accurate information and the failed polygraphs as the only actual actions taken to-date.  To all of you: how about not linking the article/interview?
REMEMBER KYRON?!?!? This is what we need to be focused on!!
Love you Kyron!!” – Kaine Horman post on his Facebook Page

Christina Stoy, www.blinkoncrime.com Editor In Chief was able to confirm with Ms. Horman directly that she has been willing to meet with Kyron’s investigators both previously and in the future with the sole provision that it be conducted in the presence of her Attorney,  Portland criminal defense lawyer Stephen Houze.

Horman went on to say that investigators with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office have been well aware of “that” over the last five and a half years and they have never requested an interview.  Um, What?

Horman reveals some shocking details about the subsequent polygraphs examinations referenced by Kaine Horman and Desiree Young and other allegations of improper tactics on behalf of MCSO in the second half of her interview to air tomorrow morning on abc’s GMA and on Nightline.

How is overtime approved at the MCSO? The sheriff should be receiving a bi-weekly or monthly report on all overtime shown on time sheets and to what case or other activity the charges were made.

The reference article from Rose about the amount of purchase that could be authorized without the sheriff’s signature indicated a limit of ten thousand dollars. Just what I suspected. Staton tried to hide the auto purchase and when that failed he placed the blame on those who carried out his order. A real upstanding guy! /s

Thanks for sharing the Poem erose. I saved the whole thing. If only more youth could see or hear those words, maybe they would better understand that choices are theirs and important to success.

I wonder if our reading comprehension-challenged Soldier read this back in Dec 2010?
“Barring an unexpected evidentiary development,” said Norm Frink, Multnomah County chief deputy district attorney, “the investigation is going to continue …” ADA Frink himself stated there was not evidence to charge much less convict anyone. So why did she lead an email campaign against the DA? Further he said new evidence was not expected.

Do facts matter at all when it comes to that ilk?

    imo Kafoury is nuts.
Reese will continue the Sheriffs’ pattern of costing the County
    big settlements for unprofessional practices.

It was a ruse anyway, imo, Staton never had any intention of retiring. Just placating Kafoury until the DOJ produced their scratch paper.

imo Staton rushed the change from Gates through
rather than make it an agenda item a week in advance so there woukd
be insufficient notice for those who wished to give Commissioners a lengthly
list of why he should not be appointed. Under him, imo coverups would continue.

To me what is strange about this case is that the bio parents seem to be more interested in revenge on TMH then getting their son back.

Can you imagine your son is gone who knows what abuse he is suffering every minute he is missing. You believe that someone knows where he is. If you grant this person immunity your child’s suffering ends and he is returned to you. What would you do?

Refuse immunity to the person who knows where he is and and get into a protracted name calling revenge situation that goes own for years or get your son back. Six years of his life have passed now.

Grant the person immunity that you are sure knows where he is and save him from a dangerous situation.

Kyron is a person If and when he returns I would not want to be the parent that tells him they could have found him years earlier but getting even with the person they believed disappeared him was more important then saving him. I mean whats a few extra years with your abuser as long as parents get their pound of flesh from Terri.

I am saying this because I don’t believe that Desiree MCSO or Kaine really believe Terri knows where Kyron is. The only way DY can justify to herself not doing everything in her power to find Kyron (by granting immunity to those who she thinks know where he is) is to convince herself that Kyron is deceased so it does not matter how long it takes to discover where he is.

I believe Kaine and MCSO have become convinced that Terri does not know where Kyron is.

cd- post of the day. You have compassionately demonstrated the indisputable incongruencies occurring presently in Kyron’s case.
The only thing I would add is that I do not believe granting TMH immunity would change anything although I did at one time- long ago. I would add Terri to the list of people that believes she has no clue where Kyron is. More on that in the interview.

we know the press just copied each others’ stories and often gou details wrong, but here is one story where Horman’s email allegedly said K was seen with an unidentified male chaperone & 2 girls after her departure. Race not mentioned. http://katu.com/news/local/terri-horman-e-mails-they-are-blaming-me-11-19-2015
Since it was after she left, it does not particularly refer to the people in the picture she took in Porter’s room. She and K had left the room, and presumeably the others had also. And if it was 9 am as she said, it likely does not refer to the man who walked into Marhews’ room asking for help to carry something, as he was a bit later wasn’t he, and not accompanied by girls. Her emails really muddied the water, didn’t they?

2 sources possible: Houze or an employee of mcso.
katu & WW are sister ships and seem to be the go tos for local attorneys in litigation against govt entities.

    Note from her email:

“The doc thinks that he is having mini seizures and I made an appt on Thursday for next Friday to have him checked out.”

I likely said this almost 6 years ago, and certainly many times since. Whether or not Kyron had a Dr. appt for 6/11/10 and subsequently Ms. Porter’s understanding of same is a critical factor *reasonable* in POI theory in this case. I have had readers and actual colleagues base their opinion on the potential for TMH involvement based on whether or not that is accurate. In other words- (my ‘splanation) folks put a tremendous amount of weight in the theory that TMH actually told Porter (on 6/3) Kyron HAD a dr. appt (on 6/3) the next day- OR (less nefarious version) Porter misunderstood TMH about her requested feedback to contribute to said appointment

To this day, it is my understanding that NEITHER Desiree Young NOR Kaine have ever admitted publicly, although they absolutely were made aware- that a Dr. appointment was made for Kyron on Thursday June 3rd for the following Friday 6/11. Why not?

Exactly. Will be interesting to hear who told TMH that Kyron was seen with a man and two girls and where and at what time. Is it possible that was not only a red herring, but what if it was an out-and-out lie?

Is it possible that was not only a red herring, but what if it was an out-and-out lie? Told by someone wanting to put Kyron at a place and time where he was not or never was?

    Just a thought.

Sorry, that posted twice, don’t know how that happened.

“During the interview, Sheriff Staton admits that the purchase of the Dodge Charger was unnecessary and not in accordance with county purchasing regulations. He goes on to state that he should have paid more attention to the process and that he, mistakenly, relied on the advice or judgment of the Sheriff’s Office Financial Director [Chief Deputy Yankee],” Riddell writes. “We have witnesses, emails and other documentation that support the assertion that Sheriff Staton requested the purchase of the Dodge Charger, specifically requested luxury features, knew the purchase was against county policy and directed his subordinates to purchase the vehicle over the objections of the county fleet manager. Sheriff Staton’s cavalier relationship with the truth is disturbing.”

Riddell’s letter could have consequences for Staton. In February, after Yankee filed a tort claim notice accusing him of sexual harassment, bullying, belittling employees and other elected officials, and committing other offenses, Staton agreed to a settlement that will cost his agency about $300,000.

    http://www.wweek.com/news/2016/05/20/former-chief-deputy-says-sheriff-dan-staton-is-lying-about-details-of-car-purchase/

I hadn’t seen this letter from Riddell, (it’s prolly here, I just might have missed it, trying to catch up.)

Sheesh! So, if this IS considered a violation of the agreement, does that mean Yankee can and will be able to go public with some facts that will make Staton look even worse?

Doubtful- just because he publicly disparaged her ( and I am not sure it rises to that level to violate the agreement verbiage) would not give her grounds to breach on her end. It looks like Riddle handled it correctly so far- I have yet to hear a snippet of that allegation coming from Staton so I believe it was edited out-

Not much attention has been paid to Tony Young, Desiree’s third husband and a detective with the Medford Police Department. Taciturn in public, he stays in the background while Kaine and Desiree take the stage during news conferences, or sits quietly in a corner when they’re interviewed. But having a cop close by has benefited the family, with Tony working as a bridge to investigators—helping determine when the family releases information they believe will help solve the case.

    (snipped)
    http://www.wweek.com/portland/article-12305-the-kyron-files.html

I must have read this page at least a dozen times, but every time I read it, this sticks with me: Tony sitting in a corner of a room while Desiree & Kaine are interviewed. (I’ve seen both of the KH & DY looking over at something/someone and wondered what or who, well this answers that question. Were they being *coached* by TY?) My question is, why was TY not sitting WITH KH & DY, and being interviewed right along with them? He’s Kyron’s step-dad, why wouldn’t they include him in all these interviews, when trying to get insight to Kyron? Also Pitkin goes further to explain that TY helped them determine what to release to the press and when. So TY was the one releasing TMH’s emails? Did he have possession of them and not MCSO?

IDK, just strange, but maybe it’s just the way it was written. Why would TY be in charge of anything released by the family to the press? And if something garnered his approval for release, then what did not?

It is an egregious conflict of interest for TY to be investigating anything in Kyron’s case.

  17. erose says:

@Rose, True to all your points. I don’t think Matthews saw the two girls, I just meant if a man was seen driving with three kids, and there was a BOLO out at 10 am for Kyron, would people think to look at the man with three kids, or would they focus on one man one child? The fact that the man was not on the list could make it nefarious,IMO, if he did indeed exist. It is totally assumption that the child is with the plaid shirt male. There are a few cases where children are used to lure other children.

I present the hypothetical that a man and two children (explaining why LE was looking for minor names) enter the school and do not sign in. The man follows Kyron into Matthews room and leaves with him, perhaps the girls are in the hallway. Kyron is then witnessed “in that group” and it’s assumed he is touring with them. A man and three children are seen leaving Skyline together and it does not ring any bells later when people are asked if they saw a boy and man leave the building together. If an Amber Alert were made, or a BOLO around the time Kyron should have been missed, this man would be driving with three children, not one, and might be dismissed on that fact alone.

  18. erose says:

@TRuth, It would be interesting to know who even had access to tell TH the information about the man and two girls directly, or did she learn of that indirectly thru LE.

TMH, Kaine, Desiree and Tony ALL learned that directly from LE. Again, I do not know if plaid shirt (preschool age girls in tow) is the same individual. I am told he has never been identified.
    B

  19. erose says:

We know Kyron left with a male and somehow TH was told Kyron was seen with a man and two girls and whomever told that story seemed to assume the man was a chaperone. Either there were two unidentified males at school that day, or they are one and the same.

  20. erose says:

Or, of course, someone lied about the man and two girls.

  21. erose says:

correction, the third scenario is that someone lied.

To my knowledge- I believe the approach they took made it impossible to ever verify 100% they could account for every single individual on grounds that day. Who would ever rely on a call-in honor system leaving your name, vehicle and plate # on a tip line? I guess the same folks that would open up a crime scene a few hours after and allow several hundred SAR assets to trudge through it as a weekend command center.

I GET they thought he wondered off- but that does not excuse failure to secure and process a crime scene properly.

So far I only have presumptions as to why they would decide not to acknowledge his appointment (or correct me if I am wrong, but i want to say I read at one point DY actually stated there was not one and Kaine did his usual circle-speak citing “there was some talk of an appointment…”).

So to answer your question- I do not know an answer from them directly but I do not wonder what it is.

I think Mathews would’ve remembered that bold bright plaid shirt…and it did not “blend.”
So imo 2 different unidentified males, but the “blender” is SZ. My guess is when the 4some

    the Mathews’ room sighting yet.

  25. Rose says:

Pretty sketchy both bios pointed the finger at Terri early & often,
publically, when DY shoukd’ve been motivated to find the truth,
and Kaine had been with her a long time.

  26. Rose says:

Wrt to the POI variable, imo WHEN Desiree & Kaine were absolutely made aware of the 6/11 appointment and why it was made, and who else they told and when (ie Kaine to family members or mistress, Desiree to Tony or family), is relevant. If either were told, like the school on 6/3, or told others, that broadens from school staff the persons who might have motivation to disappear him before the appointment (saying that with what happened to Kristian, jailing, having perhaps gotten someone’s attention). Likewise, I don’t think Porter misunderstood, so what staff she casually told (ie a paraed working in her room, the speed), in consultation with filing out a drs’ form, is relevant.

  27. Rose says:

as long as Terri was mcso’s de facto suspect, LE
would not work up the bios’ family and friend systems.
It also sadly disincentivized though that structure to structure search
in a 10 mi or more radius, and across the WA line.

  30. erose says:

Where I live, those plaid shirts are usually worn over t-shirts, because we live in layers in the PNW. Some are lined with fur, or quilting or material that is solid in color. If someone took off that shirt and carried it with the lining, instead of the plaid exposed, that plaid shirt might not have been spotted. Just a thought.

  31. erose says:

The doctor’s appt. bothered me too and for a time I thought the truth of that would at least point investigators in the direction of the truth tellers.

TH made the appt. for a legit reason.
    - OR -
TH made the appt., then lied to Porter about the date because she had a hand in Kyron’s disappearance.

    Porter misunderstood the date.
    - OR -
Porter understood the date and lied, either to cover up a grievous mistake or she had a hand in Kyron’s disappearance.

If either woman had no hand in Kyron’s disappearance, then Porter either legit misunderstood which Friday, or she used it to explain how she lost track of him.

I don’t think KH wanted anyone to know Kyron had any problems, so he did not want the truth of the appt. to come out. I think DY thought TH could have easily made the appt., purposely confused Porter and taken Kyron, as many of the HC believe. She should have wanted that information to come out, so I can only believe when the doctor’s appt. information is vetted, it makes TH look innocent, otherwise why wouldn’t DY be shouting it from the roof tops?

‘Xactly. In context- I recall DY saying things on Dr. Phil that for me- rose to the level of pre-offense concerns. What I mean by that is in evaluating the victimology of a 7 year old- events, sometimes including health and psych, are very germane to this investigative process. It is my firm belief that DY spoke of concerns she had about Kyron on Dr. Phil because at that point, either she took the time to speak to his PED, or someone that did- clued her in. I say that because I know at no time did she ever bring anything to Kyron’s PED’s attention prior to Kyron’s disappearance, but Terri did.

You have an appointment made on 6/3/10 for 6/11/10 for which TMH HERSELF requests input from Kyron’s teacher directly, which Kaine has admitted was the subject of conversation previous to Kyron’s disappearance. WHY keep that easily verifiable fact private-is that because the former FBI/Lawyer looked right at Desiree and Kaine and told them the evidence he is aware of points AWAY from Terri?
    B

  32. A Texas Grandfather says:

One of the very big questions regarding Kyron is the lack of an Amber alert for Oregon, Washington, Idaho and California.

IMO one of the things that affected this case early on and continued to affect it was Tony Young inserting himself as an investigator where he had no authority and little knowledge. In all likelihood, he was the one who poisoned the minds of Desire and Kaine regarding Terri.

If Kyron is alive and is able to be found or escape his abductor(s),he will now be thirteen years old. Quite capable of thinking for himself and asking questions regarding what happened to the family and why a more extended effort was not made to find him.

From the information we have, Terri is the only one who acted like a real parent while the bio parents did everything within their power to disparage her efforts and make her the villain.

Because of what Tony Young believed, MCSO did not use good investigative techniques nor search procedures. They were also too interested in punishing Terri for revealing the drug activities of Kaine and possibly some of their officers.

When LE tries to punish someone rather than do their designated job, it always fails. Then the local courts joined LE and denied Terri her legal rights regarding her own child.

This will not change until there is a complete overhaul of the Criminal Justice personnel in Multnomah County,Courts, DA and Sheriff. The people of the County should be very afraid of a repeat case like this one and it could be any one of them.

  33. Rose says:

@erose. I appreciate your thoughts about the co-children as lure and the hiding in plain sight while traveling.
It is Blink’s profile that suggests to me as a driven probable sexual offender or likely more, he was so
impulse driven to be about his gratification that he never would have tolerated or managed young girls, even if he had an end plan to shed them safely. If he delivered them to someone, that someone would have heard from them if the SF & Kyron. If he offed them, doesn’t fit his profiled activity with K, and surely some relative woukd’ve noticed their disappearance.

  34. Rose says:

@TRuth wrt “Tony working as a bridge to investigators”
    That is shocking.
Anyone in the 3 family systems who self-anointed as a “bridge”
(the article meaning is buffer, decisionmaker, filterer of information
back and forth betweenmcso and TH/KH/DY/TY)
that is between the other family members and the initial
investigators, is either a grossly unprofessional policeman, has a Trump sized ego,
or should be ruled out himself.

  35. Rose says:

I noticed that while kristian was arraigned in 03/09, his sentencing was only 1 week after the 6/11 Dr apptmt.
How would the sentencing have gone if kyron’s issues were allegedly speculatively
related, post ped assessment? Very unlikely, but exploring a bizarre coincidence.

Q for TH: Did Kristian, Neil, Melvin, or Neil’s other 2 male progeny
have access unsupervised to kyron in 2010?
I think that kristian had zero to do with the abduction.
One thing we know anecdotally: KH ran a hypersexual home with his wife 2 (3 ways) and with his
    latest nanny (per her daus).

  36. Rose says:

it defies imagination that kristian alone

NelMel, What do you think KH’s motivation was, and what do you think became of Kyron?

  43. T. Ruth says:

The question regarding the dr. appointment and knowledge there of, is when did TMH tell KH DY & TY about it? Either one or any of them?

If they did not know about the appointment until after Kyron went missing, but were told by LE, why deny it? Did TMH at any point in time, prior to Kyron going missing mention Kyron’s strange behaviors and that she was going to have a doctor see him? Who did she discuss this with? We know Kaine alluded to a discussion, we know something was discussed with Porter. Who else?

If there’s even a remote possibility Kyron was being abused by anyone prior to his abduction, possible suspects range from family to friends to school staff to coaches to babysitters, etc. then this question is an important one.

Did LE tell DY & KH not to discuss it? Otherwise, why not?

  44. A Texas Grandfather says:

In looking at the PDF file of the county budget referenced by Rose, it appears that Capital which is normally reserved for buildings or acquiring equipment that has a life span of five or more years gets mixed up with expense items.

The county should think about getting a good CPA firm to clean this up.

@Blink. I suggest initially someone(s) in mcso/da (not surprised if Staton himself)
asked DY/KH to consistently point TO TH to increase public pressure on her with an explicit suggestion that the apptmt not be confirmed. And you know when Terri has a tort attorney filing against Staton individually, it will be interesting to see his lying self on the stand being impeached by DY and KH depos and testimony.
    —-
I think the County will hang Staton out to dry on Elliott’s tort, settling for the County, but not Staton individually.

And imo of the public with TH just the tip of an iceberg.

  47. Rose says:

we have yet to hear of the bios’ anniversary remembrance & plans.
Perhaps they await BOC’s Terri interview so they can just go on media railing against her
