Dr. Phil Show Hosts Missing Portland Child Kyron Horman’s Step Mom Terri Horman Over Two Episodes

I have been covering this case since Kyron Horman disappeared from Skyline School in June, 2010.    Like most missing persons cases I have covered in the past,  I am of the strong opinion that best efforts at the truth are the only way to propel investigations that, similarly to Kyron’s, have gone cold for one reason or another.   This approach has worked in resolving some of my previous cases.    I am proud of that.  I remain steadfast to the integrity involved in those and future cases.

Over the past 10 months (or so) I have been developing an updated series on Kyron’s case to include my multiple interviews with Kyron’s step-mom,  Terri Horman.   Needless to say as she was the subject of at least three simultaneous cases before an Oregon court and remains a person of interest by the agency investigating her sons disappearance, this has been an arduous and sometimes delicate journey.    Ms. Horman’s experiences during the ongoing investigation of the disappearance of Kyron Horman are critically important to propelling his case and with great hope- finding the truth about what happened to this cherubic and innocent child.    There are dozens of sources,  collateral interviews, forensic experts and legal analysts that also contribute to my series and have done so because of their belief that my motivation is to bring to light information and opinions in such a way that would almost “require” a focused review of Kyron’s case and the likely shaking of that proverbial tree everyone talks about.

Set to publish about 6-ish weeks ago I was asked to postpone the first installment of the series, which I did.  I subsequently learned Ms. Horman was participating in the Dr. Phil program after she completed taping.  Dr. Phils producers were well aware that Ms. Horman had interviewed with me extensively, and anticipated my series would be publishing information that was not known to the public previously in the days prior to her scheduled episode.    When Ms. Horman conveyed to me that she feels obligated to speak out about “her son” in any national medium that will have her,   I most certainly respected that.  I still do.

While Dr. Phil seems like a gregarious fellow for sure,   I have zero interest in being associated with his program, nor do I believe his shows content is designed to do any furtherance of investigation or truth.  There is much concern (although I have no affiliation to the show whatsoever) that the timing of the publication of my series on the Kyron Horman matter might be interpreted differently or inadvertently contribute to the programs content or audience reactions.     Not what I signed on for.   A missing 7 year old boy six years running is not a framework for entertaining a target audience.   He is not fodder for online social media bully campaigns- yet it occurs.

I will be publishing my series on Kyron’s case at a later date, in it’s entirety with no editing adjustments as a result of any of the appearances on Dr. Phil.   I appreciate your patience and your understanding.   Feel free to discuss the show below.

So did TH call the DEA and not local LE?

This is what she told me directly and it was confirmed through deposition of more than one party. It should be noted that as a rule such tips are kept confidential and if they are part of a prob cause warrant, the identity of the individual is referred to (usually) in docs as CI 1 or identified only by initials if in fact they end up part of the probe or witness. Every state has a different way of dealing with illegal substance investigations- for the most part it is dictated by the quantity and want/need distribution element.

Terri often volunteers at the school, working closely with Kyron’s teacher, Kristina Porter. Shelby said that Porter saw Kyron in her classroom with his stepmom before 8:45 a.m. and another instructor reported seeing him in another classroom at some point.

The part about “another instructor reported seeing him in another classroom at some point”.

We now know from TMH that she and Kyron also went to his former kindergarten teacher’s room, so my guess is that is whom Shelby is referring to here, MacBeth. So my quetion is on June 5, the day after Kyron went missing, no other teacher (including Matthews), had come forward and reported seeing Kyron on June 4?

    Beyond odd.

Why didn’t B Keefer call an all staff mtg on Sat am, project Kyron’s pic, & say all who saw him between 8:35 and10 am raise yr hands. Then dismiss the rest and map out in group who saw kyron, with whom & when/where and get a bldg travelogue & timeline. If she were’t weird and scared, Mathew’s story should’ve been elicited Sat am by her principal, alleviating a lot of that initial Search OT.

That’s a big problem because that means there’s a lot of money coming in and it means they’re selling–the narcotics squad is selling drugs. And I also believe they were sending the money up too, in time honored fashion. And what they did was to let the–this certain number of those cops resign in exchange for confessing to falsified search warrant affidavits and plant drugs on criminals, which half the population expects them to do anyway! It was nothing and they walked away from it ….”

Convoluted for sure, but in a nutshell, Hollibuagh’s (named in the steroid indictment) attempted killer Cedric E Dirty Burton is part of LA based gang and was jailed for rendering assistance to another murder. Tough group.

    snip>

Federal agents allege Brad Hollibaugh accepted packages of drugs that were shipped by FedEx between April and August 2013. The charges were filed in Oregon in November.

Hollibaugh was the intended target of an attempted downtown car attack in November 2009, according to previous reports. A known gang member, Cedric E. “Dirty” Burton, was cleared of attempted murder charges in the case but was found guilty of second-degree assault and sentenced to at least three years in prison in August 2010.

    http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2014/mar/22/bodybuilder-faces-federal-drug-charges/

Witnesses testified that they were celebrating the birthday of Brad Hollibaugh, a world-class bodybuilder, on Nov. 21 when the bars closed and the group exited into a nearby parking lot. Burton backed his blue Camaro into Jacob Schreiber, who said he had to put his hands on the car to steady himself.
Burton and another man got out of the car and began to verbally spar with Schreiber.
Hollibaugh “jumped in front of me, and there were words exchanged,” Schreiber said. “Brad told them to get back in their car. They did. Then they started revving their engine … and went towards us.”

    http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2010/aug/26/gang-member-guilty-of-assault/

Three men charged with rendering criminal assistance and conspiracy – cousins Eric “Smalls” Burton, Jr.., 25; Cedric E. “Dirty” Burton, 23; and James C. Henderson, 33 – are in jail. Eric Burton and Henderson were arrested Wednesday night; Spokane detectives traveled to Los Angeles last month to arrest Cedric Burton on unrelated charges.
Police say most of the men are cousins and members of a Compton, Calif.-based gang. Los Angeles detectives are helping local police in the search.

The shooting was the result of a rivalry between two generations of Spokane gang members, police said. Williams may not have been the original target.

  30. A Texas Grandfather says:

Drugs including alcohol along with ignorance will destroy a community. A large city is comprised of many neighborhoods (communities),some of which allow and encourage bad behavior. This is what we have in all the major cities across the country. It is more concentrated in the West Coast cities.

When these bad values invade the government organizations, then we soon have tyranny against the people. Or, as we have witnessed recently, we have both tyranny and anarchy created by those who wish to control the people via overreach of law (tyranny) or the opposite of no law (anarchy) by those who willfully destroy property or people in order to get attention or make a statement.

Drug money is the prime mover of bad behavior in our criminal justice systems. This is found in Portland, Oregon the same as found in cities and towns along the border with Mexico.

Jaime Tinoco-Camarena for the first time expressed remorse Thursday to the family of the woman he stabbed to death when he was 17.

Tinoco-Camarena, now 20, stood at the front of a Washington County courtroom between his two attorneys as Circuit Judge Kirsten Thompson asked if he had any statements before she formally sentenced him to life in prison without parole.

He held his hands down below his waist in front of him, his mouth twitching.

“I ask for forgiveness,” Tinoco-Camarena said. He then sat down.

In recorded interviews with investigators played during the six-day trial, Tinoco-Camarena said repeatedly that he didn’t regret killing 29-year-old Nicole Laube in August 2014 as she worked at a Cedar Mill apartment complex across the street from his home.

He hadn’t known Laube, stabbed her randomly and intended to rape her before she screamed, he told detectives.

I suspect there is some unknown activity accompanying this guy- voyeurism, public exposure and the like. Clinically, there has to be a great deal “wrong” at that age to randomly murder someone with the intent to rape.

to tangke with Cedric bcz apparently all of Spokane –the types who close down bars –knew 2 rival highly dangerous gangs frequented thesame bars and routinely engaged in murderous violence.

Mr BH is doing better than ever. appears to have same bodybldg associates
and activities, just way more financially successful.
even opening a new Spokane gym.
So much for the Wash State US attorney’s office.

It’s for sure this is not SZ https://m.facebook.com/pg/Train-Asylum-748327548663441/posts/
because what a memorable body. would have to associate in a really small subculture
idealizing this type physique, or have a really distorted body image, to think it attractive.

http://www.oregonlive.com/north-of-26/index.ssf/2017/06/jury_returns_true_life_sentenc.html My gut reaction from TRuth’s except was he had schizophrenia. So I go to the article, feel it’s more likely than not when seeing he punched a Yourh Corrections officer, and there it is in the last sentence. The govt knew before he commented either rape or murder and left him untreated while in juvenile. liberals are something in Oregon, esp apparently his Judge handling him in juvenike Court and whoever wrote his Court report then. . Probably has a voice commanding him. Never a more egregious case of inneffective assisstance of counsel. No mental illness defenze attempt; no request he be medicated. And the “investigation tapes” made over 6days of questioning shoukd never have come in. Rotten Judge (unprofessional, unethical) here too.

I definitely agree that this individual was likely misdiagnosed and probably undiagnosed – fairly common in that setting given his age when the guidelines and evals favor manifestations over a successive period of years and ages he likely had not reached. Overall the adolescent mental and behavioral staff of such facilities are often grossly understaffed and even then- some of the more severe Dx require a level of specificity the Psychiatrists (if they even have MD’s) do not have. To your point I missed the last line- but given the facts I was ware of in the case, and applying my knowledge of similar profiles and profiled offenses it would have been at the top of my list- but to include or exclude the Dx of paranoid (auditory or visual hallucinations).

I’m sure I mentioned this before but it bears repeating- once one has studied the behavioral profile of a paranoid schizo offender and accompanying crime scenes- one will know one immediately at onset. I am not qualified to administer the testing and Dx of this type of offender of course, but I could not come up with an example of a similar individual and circumstances that has ever been successfully rehabilitated or that I would want left in society at the mercy of voluntary meds. We already had 2 innocent victims, the only way to protect society here is to institutionalize this guy, unfortunately. On this one I have to agree with the State- although it is certainly shameful proper intervention did not have an affect.

be interesting for mcso to ask themselves what males in SZ’s age
range living in a 5 mi radius of Skyline were charged with a sex
crime the year after his disappearance, whether or not cinvicted.

I have seriously high hopes that all areas of investigative track in that regard have been evaluated and continue to be.
There are/were significant occurrences in the Scappoose area right around the same time I am familiar with, and of course the Fanno Creek. I said then and I say now, it is highly probable they have come across SZ and didn’t know it.
And an example of such failures still lies with the Adam Brown debacle. I am referring to his lack of supervision which apparently is still off limits as a public info request. Wth is up with that?

probably medicated at OSU before his

    investigatory tapes were made.

Apparently OR has a Guilty but Mentally Ill verdict. It seems to come down to which side has the burden of proof intge State. People confuse this verdict with Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity. http://criminal.findlaw.com/criminal-procedure/the-insanity-defense-among-the-states.html
To me it’s not a defense but a verdict choice box if a case for chronic MI has been put on. imo should be reserved for violent crimes. should receive commitment for life with lessor privileges requiring adjudication hearing (like Hinkley),

The Hinkley case changed the face of the NG by reason of insanity (or any other similar permutation) forever.

  44. Rose says:

apparently OSU is overburdend bcz OR allows this
verdict for minor property damage and simple assaults.
judges & juries more likely to allow it with minor crimes rather than murder.

  45. Rose says:

NGRI differs from Guilty But Insane, as does the burden of proof from State to State for either.
Hinkley was a rare success for a white young adult who looks OK on the outside, but has psychotic thinking
internally while not articulating positive signs of schizophrenia (ie command hallucinations). Imo he was successful only bcz St Elizabeths DC Federal hospital had an outstanding forensic dept with lots of experience with White House cases. My guess is the young man in Oregon is a paranoud schizaphrenic.

  46. Rose says:

The last sentence said he carried the diagnosis of schizophrenia. The point of a Guilty But Insane verdict is that at sentencing Judges shoukd know in the case of a violent offender, the sentence should be commitment to a locked forensic hospital for life. If staff want a reduction (ie an hour walk on grounds) they have to go before a Judge. Would’ve accomplished the same result for the State, but with medication & some modicum of safety for those he sleeps or walks near. Some paranoud schizaphrenics do “burn out” in old age.

In a general sense, the problem with the issue is statutory vs enforcement. What is punishment for some can change to cruel and unusual- and I am not at all sure we (as a society) have a true beat on the whole mental illness/criminal act associations in the first place.

    Egregious Brown case.
    http://www.oregonlive.com/portland/index.ssf/2012/07/accused_wendys_attacker_adam_l.html
Not adjudicated as committed to the forensic dept of the State Hospital (ngri or GbutMI) but to the State prison
which followed regular parole guidelines. Failure was 1) his sentence term, 2) paroling him, 3) failure to supervise. Boy vic shoukd’ve sued State Parole Board and State’s post-parole supervision dept.

I would love to weigh in- but after reading Schrunk’s denial based on anticipation of litigation (um, read the order, he contradicts more than once) I don’t feel I have the facts at hand.

Rose, Thank you for he response to the timeline. You’re right about MC’s drug of choice. FWIW, there were additional charges of pot and oxy and hydrocodone in the indictment along with a Seattle contact.

re ” I don’t feel I have the facts at hand.” Since
I relied on an O story, assuredly I don’t either.

    lol.
I think there is a great deal to be learned from the Adam Brown case- I am not understanding why no journalist has picked it up.
