Haleigh Cummings Case: Sources Say “WE ARE CLOSE”

ARREST IS IMMINENT

Putnam County, FL– Since Monday, breaks in the case of  5 year old Haleigh Cummings, missing from her home since February 9, 2008, have caused a search team to be stationed at the St. Johns River.

Misty

Sources tell blinkoncrime they are close to making an arrest in her murder.

HaleighSearch041410LgVanLeaveLate this afternoon sources inside the investigation have confirmed that Misty Croslin, the former step-mother and last person to see Haleigh alive, was brought back to the scene a third time.

Image to the left, courtesy of scaredmonkeys.com poster grnlizard, is of Misty Croslin leaving in the white SUV.

.. We have been hopeful that we could gauge her reactions from the scene, as well as the possibility she might actually tell us the truth, as we have been straight up we are not leaving without what we came for..

“.. The consensus is she is more interested in what was told to us by an unamed individual..”

The recent developments are the work of a 10 month investigation by a retired FBI agent, Steve Brown, who is working for Crystal Sheffield.

“Monday was the culmination of this 10-month investigation I’ve been doing,” said Steve Brown, now a private investigator working for Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield. “We presented this to the Putnam Country Sheriff’s Office and the FDLE, and with their cooperation, finally got the final details of what transpired in that trailer on Feb. 9th (2009).”

While many are speculating that the search teams are poised to locate the remains of little Haleigh, it is this editors opinion that they are searching for something related to what is missing from the scene, a blanket.

Brown believes the presentation he gave to the Putnam County Sheriffs Office and the FDLE leaves nothing left to interpretation as to what happened in the trailor that night.

“There may be other people culpable, but as to who killed Haleigh, that’s not going to be a big surprise,” Brown said.

Joe Overstreet, Misty Croslin’s cousin who was in town the night Haleigh went missing, but has denied any involvement, was questioned last night at 11 PM for the third time at FBI offices in Tennesee, according to his attorney, Shawn Sirgo .

Sources close to the investigation believe an arrest in this case is imminent, and that Misty Croslin is expected to testify in exchange for a reduced charge in the drug charges against her.

Ron Cummings and Misty Croslin have been incarcerated since January 20, 2010 on drug charges.

Re Annette Sykes: Who has seen Haleigh after she got off the bus and into a car with either Misty or Ron (stories vary on who picked her up at the bus stop) outside of the immediate family? The AC man? Somebody has kept him very quiet as a witness. Where are any neighbors who saw Haleigh playing outside on that day after Ron went to his nebulous work time?

Sykes says she brought over laundry and saw the children eating on the porch at seven. Who backs her up ouside of Misty? The family says neighbors saw Haleigh playing outside “after Ron left for work”. Ron’s family members “say” the Croslin kids were playing outside with
Haleigh and Jr. Sounds like a veritable family reunion that night at the MH “after Ron left for work.”

Teresa Neves says she sent “people”–people later morphing into G’ma Sykes and Aunt Eliza (who is nurse)– over to “check on the children” at around seven. Syles says the children were eating on the porch. Did neither she not Aunt Eliza get into the mobile home? Why were the children eating on the porch after dark? What was the temp at seven in Fla. that evening? Details are so very scant. Gma said goodbye and “hugged Haleigh”.

What were Ron’s hours at work that night? Did he go in, as his lawyer states, before he was actually due to clock in? Did Ronald work the eight hours his pastor quoted Ron saying he worked? Or did Ron work the eleven hour shift others say he worked? What were his dammed hours and why has no one ever discussed just what and where his work that night was? Did he operate a crame? Or did he do “clean up work around the yard” as some say?

Ronald’s complete day before Haleigh went missing is a mystery. WHEN Haleigh went missing is a mystery? And none of the stories from Ron and family and lawyer add up to a hill of beans.

  2. suz says:

I don’t believe Ron is complicit in Haleigh’s death, and I do tend to believe his grief is genuine—-and I don’t even hate him calling her Miss Nancy (tho I hate how Miss Nancy eats it up, lol).

BUT I still think he’s a scumbag who had an inappropriate relationship with a young girl, saving his hide my marrying her. And I think we should all remember that damned-from-birth-with-bad-genes Misty was not even old enough to vote or drink when he put her in charge of the family. Plenty of blame to go around.

I don’t know that Misty is directly involved, except maybe for bringing someone over for a romp (if junior’s story of hearing a man’s squeaky shoes and the couch that was bouncing is accurate). Maybe she passed out afterward and he snatched the kid.

But my money’s on Joe. Or the air conditioning repair guy who was said to be hanging around watching the kids play, as I vaguely recall.

  3. Ragdoll says:

If it was the air conditioning dude, why all the finger pointing between Misty, Tommy and Joe? Why would they all go to such great lengths to cover their hides? Their reactions don’t jive with innocence where Haleigh’s murder is concerned. It’s certainly not impossible it was the ac guy. I wonder if he’s been questioned?

  4. Ragdoll says:

The other thing that bothers me is that Misty didn’t call 911 until just before Ron got home from work which was about 3 am. Why did she wait and has it been determined when abouts Haleigh went missing?

  8. Kleat says:

suz, or the AC guy hanging around watching kids play because he was hanging around for another reason, like an opportunity to make a buy from Misty? There could be a completely different reason to be waiting around, or he could be waiting around for his next call.

  9. eligrandma says:

I remember hearing or reading, in the beginning, that Misty had called a relative, perhaps Teresa Neves or Annette Sykes, and asked if they could watch Haleigh and Jr. for the evening. Misty was too tired from her 3 day drug binge to play caretaker for Ron’s kids that night. From this bit of information it is easy to make the leap that Misty “accidentally” hurt or killed Haleigh in a fit of rage. Misty was barely 17 (a very “young” 17), had been on a 3 day drug/sex binge, had no sleep and a big fight with Ron. Easy to envision Misty losing her temper easily, quickly, over some small misdeed, & lashing out at the tiny 5 year old. OOPS! Child dead. Call in some of the Croslin clan to clean up the mess. Then, lie and deny.

Makes more sense to me than the story about a gun and revenge.

Also, Kayla says that we should take into consideration she’s doped up. This family puts the F U in dysfunctional.

I think this is something like the “Pot calling the kettle Black”……………….Excerpt regarding recusal motion as written in OS. It may have possibly been humorous if it weren’t so pathetic. I hardly think of a local blogger as a well known media figure. Heck, he’s not Walter Cronkite . This is definitely a severe case of “projection” as this more aptly identifies what the actions of the defense team are as they seek any and all press time. Sans Oprah !!

Judge Strickland’s deliberate courting of a well-known media figure raises the inference that Judge Strickland seeks publicity in his own right, and that his rulings and decisions from the bench could be improperly influenced by his desire to secure the outcome that maximizes that publicity,” the defense writes.

  14. maryjo says:

Well, now we know why Casey was so smug in her hearing where Cheney was introduced. Cheney came rolling in with his Foghorn Leghorn attiitude (sorry, cannot remember who gets credit for this description of Cheney. It wasn’t me, but it is perfect)and gets the defense all excited about someone who actually knows how to try a case.
This motion has Cheney written all over it, and this sad excuse for a defense team were all agog with Cheney’s new approach. I’m certainly not an expert, but the Judge’s opinion of blogs seems pretty irrelevant to me given the fact the the defense team before Cheney and the defendant’s own family are responsible for the over-involvement of the media.
In contrast to Casey’s exhuberance at the hearing where Cheney was introduced, in the more recent hearing after Casey’s jailhouse letters were released she was much more stoic and reserved. I think between the 2 hearings with the release of the letters Cheney figured out what he is really up against and clued Casey in on the reality of her situation.
Fear not folks… I don’t necessarily think that the dismissal of Judge Strickland would be all bad. It has been stated here and elsewhere that he is “more than fair”. I agree with this, and have complete faith that JS would do justice in this case. But where will Casey be if he is dismissed? How many judges are going to put up with the buffoonery (probably not a real word, but I am using it anyways)of this defense team?
I don’t think it will be a problem to get a conviction regardless of what judge is overseeing this case.

“On Sunday night, April 11, 2010, JAMES S. WERTER, Tommy’s attorney received a telephone call from Lindsey Croslin (Wife) that Tommy requested that we meet with Steven K. Brown, the private investigator involved for the past 10-11 months.”

Misty’s 911 call reeked of deception.
A/C repairman… gotta be kidding me. Of course he was questioned, and cleared. Drug overdose, c’mon.

Misty, stupidity is an understatement, she was always smiling, and my perception, she was relieved to be rid of Haleigh. Ronald, rude, rude, and rude. Hi Heidi!!!

IIRC, Ron Cummings explained the marriage to a bounty hunter involved at the beginning of Haleigh’s search. To sum it up, he wanted to keep a tight leash on Misty to determine her involvement. Ron told the BH ‘keep your friends close, your enemies closer’.

  26. Kleat says:

Here’s an interesting ‘theory’ (only theory of course) about what happened in the trailer that night Haleigh disappeared. Pat Brown was on the Today Show late this past week. We’ve heard about Ron being cleared, polygraphed and we’ve heard how NG supports him endlessly and without question because his call to 911 was real emotion.

Ok, we have that. But Pat Brown’s scenario adds a different twist into the timeline of events that night, and suggests that Ron knew the child died while he was out of the home, but offers a reason that Ron would want to protect how it happened– back to the illegal drugs and overdose– meaning Ron is culpable if they were his drugs. He stayed at work for his full shift, had Misty wait until he was home, he could then take a look around, sort things out, before police were called in. A theory that doesn’t go to murder, but it doesn’t go to how any parent could dispose of their child in that horrific manner and put their own family through such an ordeal that makes recovery of the baby impossible.

IF this scenario is close, that Ron was part of the cover up, it explains why he would marry Misty, but does not explain how he could do this to his daughter’s body and to his parents. And it explains how Misty would hold out information, protecting Ron, her brother, her cousin, herself. But it does not answer how Haleigh ingested powerful drugs ‘accidentally’ nor why such a horrific closure was given this little girl.

A mother who kills tends to wrap the child, protect it, place it within 2 kms of home. A male does not, but what of a father who loves the daughter and does not cause the child’s death directly, isn’t even at the scene, couldn’t he too, want to protect and give the child some proper, if discreet closure.

That’s what doesn’t fit in Pat Brown’s theory for me, but she believes Ron is a ‘psychopath’ and says that word directly. If that’s true, then that would explain more.

IF Ron is a psychopath, the police would have some pro opinions to support that. On the other hand, Brown is needing to put her opinion out there on her website (the article is up) BEFORE the theory of Steve Brown is released and charges laid by police. That way she can make use of calling it beforehand, again, there’s self-promotion in so much of this.

  27. Kleat says:

Misty said ’4′ people come to mind, in her list of suspicous people. We know she brought up two names, her brother but she didn’t know if he had anything to do with it, and of course cous’ Joe, but two more… Misty + Ron? That equals 4. If the number was a little tell in her statement she didn’t think about before saying.

  28. Kleat says:

who knew (the nickname), thanks for the insight– unbelievable. That might explain the level of suspicions, maybe paranoia among some– remember Blink’s article about Cobra Staubs and the video he made of the venture into the woods?

    Blink’s Link:

Staubs was immediately concerned he was being set up for a hit by the grandmother when she disappeared. Talk about a place to stay away from when there’s this level of concern about a grandmother!! And it’s grandma Neves! What a place, it’s surprising that there’s any law at all in that neighbourhood.

  31. Heidi says:

Hi Ragdoll… What a jumbled mess. I seriously have doubts about Ronald. He is not a good boy and there are plenty of others who know it first hand. What makes me furious about this, is that Misty & Ronald have both said dealing drugs has nothing to do with Haleigh. B.S.! Dealing drugs attracts DANGER. Dealing drugs around children is ABANDONMENT. Dealing drugs takes more precedence than making sure there is food on the table. Dealing drugs brings a false sense of reality for children that everything is gonna be ok. Haleigh lost her life at the age of 5 years old. So tell me please why NG is giving him so much slack. She lost me a long time ago. I’m not so sure she is being honest with her viewers. She’s guilty of bringing on the tears to stir ratings. I just don’t buy it anymore.

  32. FairWitness says:

All this talk of a missing gun…. I don’t believe that’s the motive for Haleigh’s murder. These Croslins are inhuman, uncivilized drug-outed zombies, totally devoid of all humanity. From the very beginning, I knew Misty killed that child. Her brother Tommy and cousin Joe may have helped her get rid of Haleigh’s body. The 3 of them were in cahoots, but Misty murdered that child. I hope she fries for it.

The whole wretched family is too much to bear. Throw them all in prison and lose the keys. Worthless pieces of excrement.

I totally agree with you – that scenario definately seems the most likely. Also, I believe it was said a while ago that a co-worker overheard Ron arguing with Misty on the phone over something like Misty not wanting to stay home watching the kids and/or wanted to take the kids with her somewhere and Ron said no and Misty got mad or something like that then wouldn’t answer her phone after that, which I believe the phone records confirmed.

  41. Sue says:

Could it be that we have a scenario like Caylee Anthony in the Haliegh Cummings case? Casey allegedly liked to drug Caylee so she could party hardy. Did Misty do the same with Haleigh that day/evening – perhaps just so she didn’t have to be bothered with the antics of a five year old while she was hung over from her party weekend? A little oxy to put her out for a few hours? Or out for the night so Misty could continue the party or crash herself? Too much oxy and Haleigh became unresponsive, vomiting, convulsing? Misty freaked out – called Ron. Ron sent in the clowns to destroy the evidence? They sure did! Maybe little brother was drugged too, but he didn’t o.d. JMO

It makes sense because he’s able to keep a close watch on Misty’s activities 24/7, who she talkes to, her 10-20, her friends…..slip ups?????? I’m not disagreeing with you that he’s a shady character. His lifestyle contributed to Haleigh’s death. This is a man who’s daughter disappeared and KNOWS who was the last to be with her. He also wanted to, imo, establish a degree of trust between himself and Misty. I would do the same in the same sitch, however I’m not so sure I could be so self contained. I have NO stinking clue why NG is hell bent on presenting Ron as the all American father (slight exaggeration). She treated him with kidd gloves. For a celebrated prosecutor, her favouritism makes no sense. Her bashing Haleigh’s bio mother isn’t helping the cause either. Unless…….NG is working on gaining Ron’s trust and hoping to get some insight into his mind??????? I don’t watch her show anymore. I’ve noticed she is straying from facts and glorifying the rumour mill instead.

You are supposing that Ron isn’t involved– if it was his drugs that killed the baby, if she ingested something while he was at work, or even before he left and knew it, he’s involved and culpable. Joe is an easy mark for Misty to point her finger at– remember Misty grew up near that boat ramp area when her parents lived in that neighbourhood.

Ron is only really innocent on Nancy Grace, can’t take her word for it, she’s not privy to the investigation. Makes sense that Ron and Misty are in this cover-up together.

QUESTION: Who will pay for their defense? ANSWER: The state. We all know their indigent. WOW! Pitty party…. not. Why does Jose think he needs unlimited funds for Casey? This case is no different than The Anthony Case. They both have family members who interfered an criminal investigation of a missing child under the age of 5. Both played the media to delay and obstruct justice, to include either one or more denying lie DNA/lie detector tests. The only difference is Misty will plea and Casey will not. Casey legal team think they can create reasonable doubt, when really there is no reason for both baby girls to be murdered by asphyxia, but Caseys team will dam well try. Ohhhhh! Come on! As a matter of fact, I have had a few Minor complication this past week and hospitalized again, until yesterday….I got online to do a Haleigh update and saw the posting by “MOO” above. I’ve cleared the air with my friend at PCSO and he too agreed, that my previous postings were of no harm to the case, and posted as JMO, in most cases. We are good and I want it to stay that way.

Now, the one who posted as me, “MOO” did post my true thoughts on this case…..which I found interesting…..Stating MY OPINION ONLY, I truly believe this:
    ——–
IF Joe and Tommy went to Misty’s to steal some guns, it was more than likely to sale for $ or drugs. AND, if they didn’t find any guns, what in the world would the motive be for CJ to snatch up Haleigh? The only reason would be if he were a pedophile and he wanted to rape her. And seriously……he’s gonna just up and say, “I’m taking Haleigh and I will kill either of you if you say anything?” Nope……I just can’t see it. Now, if they would have “come up” with their story a bit more carefully, they could have maybe sold it….Like, saying that they came over to steal the guns, Misty woke…..they discovered there were no guns, and left…..Then, around 1:00am, Tommy woke up and Jo was gone again….. Furthermore, Misty says Tommy left alone, and Jo left with Haleigh…..Yet Tommy says he went with Jo and watched him dump the body….. So, they’re trying to sell, that not only did he take Haleigh, but he staged the door with a cinder block……plus, got rope and more cinder blocks from the property to take with him also before they left….while Misty and Tommy just sat there, together, helplessly? That’s a load of BS if I ever heard any. Not only that, but both Tommy and Misty decide to call good ole Grandma Hillbilly in Tennessee and spill the beans, not only on the same day, but within 30 minutes of one another? Maybe that was the plan….for Grandma to collect the reward money and share the wealth….that is if there is even any reward money left to be found….IMO, I don’t even believe they went to the house, period to steal guns. I still believe and will until it’s proven otherwise, that Ron is involved. And if Misty was at home when Jo took Haleigh, how does she know where the spot is that Haleigh was taken to? I mean, sure – Tommy could have told her…..but she wouldn’t know an exact location other than “somewhere around the ramp / boat docks off shells harbor way” How would she be able to “point” out a spot or location unless she knew specifically by being there?

Now, coming clean….Yes, as I told all of you, I work as LE for a school district….but, as skeptical as many of you are about me already, I never meant harm in my postings. That being said, I am fixing to give you all something to really chew on. I have the ability, somehow, to “see” things…I don’t like to call my self “Psychic” though… I am able to see things and hear things that not even I understand. I don’t do this type of thing for a living or for profit. I use this ability, when I can, in trying to help solve cases, as Haleighs, with no strings attached – other than trying to being justice to such a horrible tragedy. I NEVER claim to be exact in what information I “get”….I only relay, to the best of my knowledge, as I “interpret” what I “see” or “hear” or “feel”…That being said, When I do a “reading”, to begin with, I like to know absolutely nothing….Nothing to jade me or my thoughts. When I did Haleighs original “reading” long ago…I didn’t know anyone’s names, (not the dad’s, misty’s, nothing..not even where she was abducted from) I didn’t know what they drove, who they were…All I knew, period, was that a 5 yr. old little girl named Haleigh from Florida was missing. I “asked”, first thing….who was responsible and the first name I got was Ron or Ronald….and then I started hearing/seeing the van, drugs, got Misty’s name, and MANY, MANY more things, that to date, as things play out, have come to pass….It’s weird, I know….and to some of you, BS….But all I can say, is, at least for me, I believe in what I “can do”….ANYWAY, everything I revealed in my first and second readings done about Haleigh and the case….Those are usually the best and most accurate readings because my mind is uninformed. Like I said, it doesn’t mean that everything is accurate, I just try to interpret what I see and hear the best I can. And one VERY strong feeling that I keep getting is that, still, even in the location (St.Johns River) that they are not being honest with what they gave LE. I keep getting “separation”….Not sure why, but it could mean that haleigh is separate from what they’re finding. Could be, either “real” evidence was thrown there at the time the crime was committed ~ as part of their over-all plan, if ever needed, to lead cops to evidence, BUT NOT HALEIGH, to prove their “Jo” theory, OR “Fake” evidence was put there, for the same reason……OR, it could just mean that haleigh is separate from where they found the evidence recovered. I did reveal they needed to search for Cinder Blocks, (the same type used to stage the back door) BEFORE they found them…..But, that is neither hear or there….However, I wonder if there anyway for them to be able to tell how long the blocks were under water? I would venture to say, that if they find no “haleigh” evidence on any of the items, etc….then, it was all staged to appear to be the crime location……just like the door was staged. I am not saying the Jo wasn’t involved….I think it’s very clear, that Jo, Misty and Tommy are for sure involved…..And I would even suggest adding Ron as well…..but that’s just my feelings about him. Furthermore, I don’t think they want LE to actual find Haleigh…..just enough “evidence” to prove their “story” and hopefully convict CJo, and them receive lighter sentences……simply because they are tired of the Haleigh questioning, and KNOW that it isn’t going to end until there is some kind of resolution, period, IMO. Unfortunately, I don’t know if they will ever know the entire, “real” truth. So much time has passed, that even finding Haleigh’s body wouldn’t reveal a lot of evidence, I don’t think, from my experience.

And One more thing…..if Haleigh was simply taken to the boat ramp/docks, why is the van returned scratched and a headlamp busted? Where and when did that happen? The wife (either Chelsea or Lindsay, can’t remember) says it wasn’t like that before that night……This case is just eating at me. The least they could have done is get their lie straight before presenting it to everyone. I do think, that if I am right, and this is one of their newest “stories” – or at least part truth / part lies, that if CJo is arrested, and he DIDN’T kill Haleigh directly, he will be the one who will tell the truth faster than any of the others. I guess that’s all I have to say.
And for the record, I did share all of the above with my PCSO friend, for none of it is “factual” and thoughts of mine, based on MOO.

As all of you do, I want this to end….But this bunch of liars will never come clean. Hopefully LE has facts and other evidence that we are not aware of to put the true puzzle together and end this, once and for all….
(Sorry for the long post, I know you guys hate them…..)
