Haleigh Cummings Case: Sources Say “WE ARE CLOSE”

ARREST IS IMMINENT

Putnam County, FL– Since Monday, breaks in the case of  5 year old Haleigh Cummings, missing from her home since February 9, 2008, have caused a search team to be stationed at the St. Johns River.

Misty

Sources tell blinkoncrime they are close to making an arrest in her murder.

HaleighSearch041410LgVanLeaveLate this afternoon sources inside the investigation have confirmed that Misty Croslin, the former step-mother and last person to see Haleigh alive, was brought back to the scene a third time.

.. We have been hopeful that we could gauge her reactions from the scene, as well as the possibility she might actually tell us the truth, as we have been straight up we are not leaving without what we came for..

“.. The consensus is she is more interested in what was told to us by an unamed individual..”

The recent developments are the work of a 10 month investigation by a retired FBI agent, Steve Brown, who is working for Crystal Sheffield.

“Monday was the culmination of this 10-month investigation I’ve been doing,” said Steve Brown, now a private investigator working for Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield. “We presented this to the Putnam Country Sheriff’s Office and the FDLE, and with their cooperation, finally got the final details of what transpired in that trailer on Feb. 9th (2009).”

While many are speculating that the search teams are poised to locate the remains of little Haleigh, it is this editors opinion that they are searching for something related to what is missing from the scene, a blanket.

Brown believes the presentation he gave to the Putnam County Sheriffs Office and the FDLE leaves nothing left to interpretation as to what happened in the trailor that night.

“There may be other people culpable, but as to who killed Haleigh, that’s not going to be a big surprise,” Brown said.

Joe Overstreet, Misty Croslin’s cousin who was in town the night Haleigh went missing, but has denied any involvement, was questioned last night at 11 PM for the third time at FBI offices in Tennesee, according to his attorney, Shawn Sirgo .

Sources close to the investigation believe an arrest in this case is imminent, and that Misty Croslin is expected to testify in exchange for a reduced charge in the drug charges against her.

Ron Cummings and Misty Croslin have been incarcerated since January 20, 2010 on drug charges.

imo-Misty’s call was rehearsed. FIRST Misty did not call 911 until Ron made her. TWO – Misty did not scream my baby was stolen – missing-gone-abducted-lost. THREE- Misty wants us to know she was sleeping, the door was propped open, child missing, our daughter, and Misty had only known HaLeigh 3 months. Call was a rehearsed persuasive set up call. The purpose of Misty’s call should have been a MISSING 5 yr old child. Not an alibi of “I was sleeping.” I loveD that little girl. Listen to ALL the people’s words in the beginning of a crime. Listen to the choices of words. Example: Cindy said: “George and I do not believe Caylee is in the woods.” After KC made a statement. “Caylee loved the park.” 5 months later Caylee was found in the woods. imo-

imo-Everyone I know wants KC to get the fairest trial. Have the best possible mature professional defense. What it appears KC has are attorney that have OTHER selfish agenda’s. $$$ Greed and Pride. That is why Caylee does not have JUSTICE. imo

Thanks, granny, for the correction/guidance to those who want to look up “canard(s)”

If I’m actually quoting BB-12 Chris correctly, I was assuming that a person looking up the word would know to drop the plural ‘s’–not so easy though if you don’t know the word is French!

That word makes me laugh because of its origin: from Middle French ‘vendre des canards à moitié’ to cheat, literally, to sell half-ducks.

    Quacks me up!

Glad you’re a word girl, too, granny. I actually use my moniker with a tongue-in-cheek interpretation. As for you crossword puzzlers–you’d make mincemeat of me any day.

Listening to your inner self opens many roads. I too have used my inner-voice/intuition with complete strangers at social establishments with amazing results.

The first time I described to a husband of a his wife sitting next to me… of a man who was married, did not have kids yet with a clear vision owned a white truck. Amazed, the husband said you described my brother who was married, had kids when he shouldn’t of and owned a white truck he cleaned and polished every day up to the day he died and had told many that he wanted the truck to be melted and laid to rest with him.

Another time, I met 6 complete strangers in a German restaurant (three of which was a mother with two children under the age of 8). This German restaurant is very quaint and my first thought was the proximity of tables & chairs were a little too close. Well, guess what the couple to my left were chatting about spiritual guides… which peaked my interest and before we all knew it we were guessing the first letter of each others name. The kids were having a ball. I then slipped away to use the restroom. On my way down the stairs I had a strong feeling of a YELLOW house. I came back upstairs and said “Boys, you have a yellow house” and they both chimed in and said “Yes, we do”. I then said, “Boys you have a dog” and they said “yes we do”. I then said “he is brown and has a long nose? They said “yes/no/yes/no…he’s not brown” and the mom said “but he does have a long nose”, “it’s a German Shepherd”. I then pointed to the youngest and said ” and, you own a gerbil”. Un-benounced to all of us, the youngest nearly jumped with excitement and said ” As a matter of fact, I do”, “he’s out in the car, do you want to meet him?” Those of us who did not know this family were shocked. He darted down to the car and ran back upstairs to show us his buddy. We turned to the mom and asked, “does he really have a gerbil out in the car”? She said “you’ll see”, “not really… but he has been calling it his gerbil for months now”. We said what is it? But she wouldn’t say. Before we knew it he was standing before us ready to revel his buddy stored carefully in his zippered jacket pocket. With such care he opened his hands and reveled what looked like a round piece of dried fruit/nut approx. 2 inches big. He was so happy to share with us “his buddy” and with careful hands kissed it as if it were a real gerbil staring back at him. Trust me, this young man was serious.

Kids are amazing! They teach of things we take for granted everyday. They are warriors of their own class and they are witnesses to everything around them. My childhood days my mom every night would say, “Angels watch over you”… or in the morning she’d say “I peeked in on you last night while sleeping and you looked like an angel”, to which I said “Really?”, “show me, show me what an angel looks like!”, “please mom!” and all she could do was laugh and say “what would I do without you?” I was that gullible.

    Hey Stephe/Moo,

Nothing wrong with long posts! I think everyone on here is guilty of it (I know I am).

It’s probably an innocent mistake….the identical handles. Perhaps you can distinguish yours more…. ~MOO~ Little embellishments so the 2 are different.

Loved your comment. Very insightful. I’m curious, if there are people out there who believe Ron is directly involved with Haleigh’s murder, why aren’t Misty, Tommy or Joe talking??????? Ron’s behind bars as are they….what could they be afraid of now? I’d be interested in your thoughts.

Blink said she didn’t believe that the truth would ever come out unless someone talks….and that’s unlikely. Right now, their all busy pointing fingers and busy keeping lies straight. Misty and Tommy must be feeling the pressure but I don’t think this case is close to being solved. I would LOVE to be wrong about that.

I’m sorry to learn of your cancer. I am praying for a quick and complete recovery for you!!!! Please take care of yourself and follow dr.’s orders!

    God bless~~

    Another thought….

I wonder if LE has considered Haleigh’s disease as a factor in her death? (Turner’s Syndrome)

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turner_syndrome

Haleigh would probably have faced some plastic surgery to remove the ‘webbing’ on her neck. There would be necesary medical treatments for possible congenital heart disease, diabetes, vision and hearing problems, just to name many complications of TS. Sterility is also a symptom, however, there are now procedures that make it possible for a woman with TS to become pregnant.

Turner’s Syndrome comes with many risks. Haleigh could have faced enormously expensive treatments not covered by a health care plan throughout her life. Perhaps this family was not prepared emotionally or financially to face these challenges.

  7. MsEnscene says:

Ron’s lawyer said that Ronald is “disappointed” in the latest Misty revelations. “Disappointed” that she couldn’t come and tell him how she was forced into the situation which may have brought about Haleigh’s demise.

Aaaaah, the humanity! Ron is the very model of kindly restraint and cool, dispassionate understanding. I guess he will not, then, be planning to take out the “trash” who harmed his daughter. Cool, big bad Ron!

Ron is also saying that he suspected Cousin Jo from the first. Ron’s lawyer says that Ron even mentioned it on the 911 calls.

I guess that part of Ron saying he suspected Cousin Jo was redacted from the tapes of the 911 calls. I never heard Ron say that. Of course he was very busy cursing out and hanging up on the 911 operator…a sure fire way to find your missing “stoled” baby…so perhaps his chief suspect nomination was lost in translation.

What I am puzzling over is why Ron didn’t hi-tail it to Tenn. and blow Cousin Jo to smithereens. You know, put a gun in his mouth and blow him up real good! Promises, promises, Ronnie!

I guess I just don’t understand the latter-day hummantarian bent of Ronald Cummings.

Has Misty passed a lie detector test yet? I doubt any jury will believe Misty at this point. Finger pointing gets a pass on murder and drug charges? Misty is a hard core bad girl.

To my knowledge she has never passed a lie detector test in it’s entirety and has been tested several times.

Sorry if already posted, but just pulled this of the Nancy Grace transcripts from Friday’s show and they are talking about a letter Misty wrote her sister-in-law Chelsea while Misty was in jail, the van and also what Chelsea says of Joe.

CHELSEA CROSLIN: The letter basically states that she — Joe came in to steal the gun. She didn`t know the gun was gone. When she looked for the gun, the gun wasn`t there. Joe freaked out and took Haleigh. She said that she had seen Tommy in the back door, and when she looked back again, he was gone. So she said that she didn`t know what, you know, Tommy — part Tommy might — I don`t believe Tommy had a part in it, just she was implicating that maybe Tommy had known that Joe was there.

CHELSEA CROSLIN: Yes, it is. It was my sister-in-law`s van.

CASAREZ: And who borrowed it that night?

CHELSEA CROSLIN: Well, I borrowed it from my sister-in-law. And when I woke up the next day, the van was parked in a different spot than I had parked it. So I assumed that the van had been taken from the home that night.

CASAREZ: Do you know who drove it?

CHELSEA CROSLIN: If anybody drove it, it had to have been Joe.

    CASAREZ: Why?

CHELSEA CROSLIN: Because my husband was sleeping next to me. He had just been in a car accident and he was on medication. He was asleep hours before I was.

CASAREZ: What about Tommy? Why couldn`t Tommy have taken the van?

CHELSEA CROSLIN: Because Tommy lived at least three miles from where my house was. And it was Tommy`s van, but he lent it to us that night. Joe would have had to have taken the van from my house to go back to that neighborhood. Tommy lived right next to where Misty and Haleigh did, about six houses apart.

CHELSEA CROSLIN: I don`t know Joe. And as far as I know, I`ve been told Joe is — is crazy. So I don`t know what he could do.

  10. MJ says:

I would love to hear 1 good, semi good or even lousy reason Ron would marry Misty?
IIRC he’s never married any of his girls before, why now?
He’d only been dating her 5 months, she just got hauled back to him the night before after not only partying with but having sex with another guy and then that very next night your child is ‘abducted’ while she’s babysitting.

She can barely put sentences together, doesn’t remember anything. Nothing, not even the slightest detail. still Ron is unfazed, right beside her, like glue. She keeps droning out the nothing, stories change, Ron, the hair trigger satsuma gangsta boy, doesn’t let any of that bother him and marries her.

The dominant theory was, “keeping the enemy close” doesn’t really fly for me. The absolute worst case scenario had already happened, his child is gone, is there even one person who thinks Misty would’ve fled to Switzerland or France, cleverly avoiding LE ? And according to both, Joe was the real enemy, didn’t notice any weekend trips to TN. to give him the evil eye and make sure he stayed scared.

IMO he married her as payback. She stuck with the story, braved the probing LE and her reward….Ron. The prize catch and all she had to do was keep her trap closed and repeat the party line.” I don’t know.”"Ron was at work.” same thought process on why Teresa Neves would be her most vocal supporter. As a mother, if some strung out slut was on “duty” when my grandson was taken from inches away from her, there’s no way I would also be repeating the monotone party line ” The kids love her” ” She’s the best”

Let’s face it, there’s only 2 people in this world that Misty would keep her mouth shut for, herself and Ron. She’s cooked either way, but isn’t it telling that Ron is still sending subliminal messages to her? Asked if he’s angry about recent developments, his answer, ” not angry, disappointed”. That smells to high heavens. I am going to be shocked if he’s not somehow involved in this.

I don’t know whether LE is considering Ron a suspect or not….But I AM and have voiced that several times. Not only that, but I’ve told that I still think they’re lying….Jo was their scapegoat during the planning. Lucky for them he was in town visiting…. I don’t think he’s innocent though, but not guilty of murder….IMO – And if he’s arrested, I think he will come closer to telling the truth than any of the clan in jail…..I also believe another girl/women is involved….

I think they said tonight that Turner disease causes temper tamtroms and Misty wanted to sleep and the little girl kept bothering her, so Misty may have given her a pill or hit her so hard. Then Misty looked down and she was too gone to even call the medics, so Misty paniced and called Tommy and Tommy called Joe to dispose of the body.
They all went down to the pier and tossed her in.

Ron not involved because of all the telephone calls to Misty which were not answered, and he brought home something from the convience store for Misty and him.

Yes, I am defensive. This is not the first time this person has been condescending to me. I’ve read her posts and I know she knows the difference.

When we address each other on BOC, it’s with common courtesy. I also give the benefit of the doubt….the first time around.

#14…sorry Vern. I posted before I finished my response to your question.

I don’t know what to think. I’m asking if it’s a possibility. You essentially got what I was asking. To be honest, pre-mediation wasn’t a factor but I guess that would support my question.

I’m thinking that since there’s been no feedback to my question, it’s most likely not a motive.

Hope you have a great week Vern! :)

    Suz,
I think Ron married Misty as she was going to move either to Tennessee or to Mass. with her family and he didn’t want her to leave.
I also believe that 17 years old is age of consent.

Ragdoll- I would not have said please? IF I was being condecending.
I am really surprised at the comment personally (Crystal had a monetary motive too) but not too sure a childs disability would be an issue as Ron didn’t have to get custody of Haleigh.
I do not believe Misty would kill this child on purpose or because she had Turners syndrome but that is JMO.

  28. MsEnscene says:

Suz…why did he divorce her? Because she was getting some bad PR due to her “inconsistancies” and failed LDT’s and made him look worse that he was already looking in many eyes? Or because he found out that she could still testify against him as her husband since the case involved harm to a child and the spousal privilege would be waved?

Well, anyway, Ron was at work. He don’t know nuthin’.

  29. Judi says:

Regardless of who is responsible, justice needs to be served for this little angel.

Blink – I know LE has not released really much info about what they recovered and sent to the lab for testing. But, do you think that once the lab results are in on whatever it is they sent in, that arrests will be made and whomever harmed this precious little child will finally have to own up to it and face the consequences of what they have done so that whoever wasn’t involved and did love Haleigh finally get the closure that they need? And, how long do you think those lab results will take? Quick or months?

I am just so anxious to see justice served for this little angel.

I just don’t understand what is happening in the world today – Caylee, Haleigh, Sommer, and unfortunately many more. I don’t understand how you could look at a child and ever think about harming them. I just can’t wrap my head around it. It makes me sick to my stomach.

On a talk radio show this past Sunday night they had people calling in and giving their opinions of this: There were two seniors in high school in Lakeland Florida who were caught in a parked car with girls 14 and 15 in same school. The parents had given permission for girls to date the seniors. When cops arrived, one girl was pulling panties up and the other fixing her bra. Well, anyway the boys were arrested for sat. rape. They could face up to many years in prison. Their names will always be on the sex offenders arrest. The parents turned on the boys for some reason I did not get.The girls told the cops they wanted this. Do not blame the boys. The girls will get off scott free. This is your Floriday laws. REally rediculas. People have been parking in cars for years and the jails need space for the real pediphhiles. (I know, I cant spell)

  33. Judi says:

So, if they did not recover the body but did recover evidence to indicate she was dead, would they not tell Ron to possibly prepare for a Memorial Service as opposed to a Funeral. I am thinking if they told Ron to prepare Funeral arrangements, then they have recovered at least part of the remains.

When funeral home personnel speak of a funeral versus a memorial service, they are stating that a body is present at a funeral service and that no body or only the cremated remains are present at a memorial service.

I have been wondering about this comment:
“The Haleigh Cummings case has reached a level of criticality. What appears on the TV, in print or on radio often is not the whole story. There are facts that become known to the press, and we are asked not to share them. Most of us do try to comply. This week was a zoo.
To help me sort it out was Armando Aldazabal who was our eyes, ears, and feet at the search site. His descriptions of what he saw sound more like a 50’s political protest than a search. At least one Fox affiliate reporter was cuffed and led away!” found at http://www.bloggernews.net/124343; does anyone know what this refers to? What is it that they know that the general public does not know, and why would they cuff a reporter and lead them away from the search scene at the dock?

  35. bluewillow says:

Ragdoll, I don’t know, but I kind of get the feeling that in this family, if they were not prepared emotionally or financially to face the challenges of Turner’s Syndrome, they just wouldn’t have. They don’t seem like they plan ahead that much. Possibly it would have been covered by some kind of medical services anyway?

I do think it is possible it played a part in Haleigh’s death in terms of putting her at higher risk physically, though. :-(

  36. bluewillow says:

Sadieblue, what I read was that the police had established a distance that reporters had to stay from the investigation and that one refused to back off and was arrested.

  37. SadieBlue says:

Thank you, bluewillow, for your response. I could only find the comment that the reporter was arrested, but no reason for it. I am very curious to know if they have information that they have been asked not to report yet. It would be great if an arrest were about to be made in Haleigh’s case.

We’ve been talking about the marriage of Ron and Misty. I tell you, it really shocked me when they got married so soon after the disappearance. If my child were missing, I don’t know how I would function each day. I would have to in order to search, and I don’t know if I would be in a catatonic state or if I would be out there searching day and night in a panicked state, but I certainly would not be doing something celebratory like having a wedding. It doesn’t matter that it is what Haleigh would want, as they kept saying. If it is what she wanted, then do it once she is found so she can enjoy it! Not, “oh hey, while you were missing we went ahead and got married! Surprise!” It wasn’t surprising that their marriage didn’t last in that I didn’t think these two could hold a marriage together, but since I thought they had an ulterior motive to get married, I was surprised it didn’t last longer. I truly can not figure out why they do most of what they do. But the smile on Misty’s face when she showed the reporter her ring was the only time I actually believed the emotions she was displaying up to that point. I bet the law enforcement personnel who have to deal with her on a daily basis just want to smack her.

  38. JR says:

Ragdoll: I appreciate your earlier ‘kudos’ to my ‘Ron involved’ analysis last Thursday. I’m always appreciative of someone giving my points some consideration, especially someone so frequently offering good insight on these topics, such as yourself! Haven’t had a chance to get back on here or updated on much news since last week and finally glad to be now…

So still on the topic of Ron’s direct/indirect involvement, I noticed you asked a very good question in your recent message to Stephe/Moo:
“…if there are people out there who believe Ron is directly involved with Haleigh’s murder, why aren’t Misty, Tommy or Joe talking??????? Ron’s behind bars as are they….what could they be afraid of now?”

Your question does weigh heavily as something that would very much reflect Ron’s involvement or not and would therefore require an answer from those of us suggesting he somehow was.

First, I will clarify my view as suggesting Ron has hidden knowledge or is somehow involved but I DO NOT THINK he ever intended or wanted Haleigh’s disappearance or early demise. At best, he might be hiding an unexpected circumstance of what he knows is a result of his lifestyle and at worst, he could of orchestrated her apparent disappearance as a desperate and selfish attempt to spare himself of incriminating evidence or blame. As many people believe his grief and anguish, so do I, but I don’t consider his emotions over his daughter to be the same as his innocence or guilt overall. I believe he loved that little girl as much as he says and in many ways he probably did try his best to be a good dad with what he had. But while I believe there is that loving young father part of Ron, I also believe there is still a very self-serving, immature and immoral part of him who would continue any self-gratifying behavior even putting his children at risk and would likely put himself first if an unexpected situation forced him to choose between anyone (including his kids) and himself.

I cannot for the life of me explain the hold he has over people (girls like Misty), but I’m sure his behavior might explain how many people could believe and fear his threats. My first attempt at answering your question about Misty and Tommy trying to cover for Ron until now, would combine the hold he had on Misty’s heart and whatever he might also hold over both of their heads. Prior to them being in jail, Ron’s more experienced, more skilled, more manipulative criminal mind had constant access to Misty’s and Tommy’s underdeveloped, doped up heads. In all that time, especially Misty WANTING to believe what he said, he could have easily got them believing pretty much anything he said, especially compared to the insight they get anywhere else…He could convince them with anything from his authority to promises of undying love for Misty to simply ‘save yourself both the trouble’ cause the police will never have anything on any of us if you just say this and this. if you do otherwise, you’ll not only have the police to worry about, but what i can do to you and your family as well. His threats could have been anything from physical credibility, to blackmail to a carefully mastered back-up ‘story’ he said he could tell the police and only incriminate them. I can see Ron being able to charm them enough to do what he wants and manipulative or ruthless enough to impact them with a serious enough threat, they would believe. Keep in mind that the last they really know of Ron is whatever the situation was before they all went to jail. They don’t know anything else but what they hear, what the cops tell them and they don’t even know what part of that is even true from then on.

I may be totally wrong about Joe, but I think he had very little involvement to be holding out for anyone and pretty much ‘the out of town’ expendable scapegoat, perhaps when they didn’t anticipate publicity or scrutiny continuing to this extent. Certainly if Ron had any inkling about Joe or anyone else, he would have done his best to convince the police or take matters upon himself!

Whatever happened to Haleigh (regarding Ron, Misty or Tommy), I don’t think it was initially premeditated or planned. Rather than a motive, it could likely of been an unfortunate event involving the type of people who likely see more reason to cover it up then simply deal with it, straight-up. If it was an unexpected cover-up involving Ron, Misty, Tommy and whoever conferring mainly by phone with limited time, any plan would really only cover the bases of their immediate concerns. Perhaps Misty only ‘alluded’ to cousin Joe in the beginning because he was about as far as they thought the questioning of possible abductors would go. Perhaps it was because they knew he knew nothing and would be eventually ruled out so no harm done anyways. They hoped it would go unsolved if a world of strangers is where the cops had to start and Joe was the convenient quick-fix if they ever needed to be specific or have a plausible suspect to throw things off trail. Perhaps they even justified using Joe, as he ‘deserved it’ for making Ron mad. Whatever their wishful drug-hazed thinking may have been then, they likely never could of imagined the many factors that has escalated their predicament over 14 months, to now.

Perhaps, its taken this time in jail for Misty and Tommy to ‘defog’ their heads and the police to then ‘deprogram’ their beliefs of all that Ron could have promised, threatened or so convincingly said. Perhaps it took Misty’s full confession to progress the bulk of the case and therefore, could easily have taken this long for her to start thinking with her head instead of her heart. Perhaps once Misty started speaking or Tommy was told something to finally believe the ‘trigger’ in what she might of said, he realized it no longer looked like he was safer keeping his mouth shut. He was holding out for that easier option until he saw enough to know the reality was more likely his best option is to start talking as well. If they spent long enough prior to the drug arrests that put them in jail, saying only what they had been saying about Haleigh all along, to them it probably seemed to be working for them quite well. In jail, they might have been stuck on believing the drug charges were really the only concrete thing keeping them there and only considered dealing with just that. Tommy especially, had minor enough charges to really believe he was better off just worrying about that than what the whole Haleigh/Ron thing might entail. Misty might have been thinking she could still convince them she really knew nothing about Haleigh and that, along with the magnitude of her drug charges, it would all eventually fade away. She might have been willing to stick through what she had to, simply with the likelihood of still being able to get out one day and again be with Ron. It might’ve taken both of them a good few months to realize the actual reality was a lot more serious and that the police had enough of something to really be doing more than just giving them a scare.

Whatever Ron might hold over each of them, I believe their reason for holding out so long and whatever they might be saying now…all boils down to whatever Misty and Tommy is convinced is best for themselves. I doubt if it was ever about feeling safe enough to do the right thing or some undying loyalty to anyone else. even Misty’s loyalty to Ron is likely contingent upon her believing it would make things the way she wants. It would be interesting to know if this cousin Joe stuff is really still the only thing Misty has been discussing with the cops.

I even believe that as sweet and sound as she may seem, Teresa Neves (Ronald’s mother) even knows more than she has been leading us to believe. The only reason I could think she would be less than forth coming about the truth would be something it might reveal about her son. I don’t think it would even require fear for her to be protecting Ron, just simple love in the form of ‘enabler’ that will do anything for him, no matter what.

my second suggestion of what could also provide some answer is what might be the difference between ‘real time’ and ‘media time’ of how things unfold. We could be far behind or purposely sidetracked from the real status of the case until everything is secure enough for LE to let it all go. I do know that most of the jailhouse phone calls we see are usually about a month or so old and often certain parts of these conversations are not released. I am thinking and hoping, that LE has had the ‘real case’ figured out long ago (at least in theory) and Misty and Tommy’s co-operation was part of getting the evidence in place. Perhaps Misty and/or Tommy started talking sooner than what appears or these versions of cousin Joe were their attempts at repeating their original plan before LE getting them closer to the actual truth. Maybe Joe is involved in some way and a reason for LE to again question him, but perhaps not as the main suspect, as we are currently led to think. Or maybe Misty and Tommy really are trying their best to make him look that way, because they fear the truth makes them just as culpable as Ron. They could believe that covering for Ron is inherent to covering themselves and therefore decided to go with Joe. Or LE could just be alluding certain things in order to conduct their investigation and keep its integrity by throwing us off.

We have to wonder when the public is fed these continuous updates and so much exposed about the key players in a case, except for one. I would be surprised if the big main suspect in all this turns out to only be Ron, but I’d be far more surprised if something of this doesn’t end up blowing up in his face. Between Ron’s behavior throughout this entire time and LE’s behavior (or complete non-behavior) surrounding what makes him suspicious, its just hard to think there is nothing more to him at all.

I just find it hard to believe in general, that what we see is really the extent of where this case actually is. I hope not, because it would be worse than a bad movie if it really is this!

Reading around on messsage boards concerning this case for a while, I am constantly surprised at the number of women who really are fangurrrls of Ron’s.

Whether he is guilty of actually harming his daughter, or if he was just totally negligent of her care with his unusual lifestyle, he is not one of the good guys.

These women are constantly talking about him with each other, how he is looking, how he seems to be faring since the new search, how he looks after some time in jail, wondering if he has found any support with the other prisoners, any comforting shoulders to cry upon in general population.

Over and over again they write his name in connection with these words: “Good daddy, wonderful father, completely innocent, loved his kids, protected his kids against their uncaring mother, supported his kids by going to work everyday when their druggie mom wouldn’t pay child support.” Always taking on posters who don’t agree with their descriptions of godlike Ron with mama-bear claws extended. On and on, never ceasing. One could see how the eventually aborted “Free Ronald Cummings” movement started.

I really wouldn’t be surprised if these women are sitting in their homes writing their own names on their notebook pages amended to some versions of “Mrs. Ronald Cummings, Sr.”

I find this very creepy. perhaps it is not unusual. I never followed the Scott Peterson case online. I imagine he also had his admiring female followers, not in the line of justice for an alleged miscarriage of justice for the accused, but out of some misplaced schoolgirl crushes.

Nancy S, I never tire of posting this little nugget of FL law:

    Florida

    § 794. 05

    (1) A person 24 years of age or older who engages in sexual activity with a person 16 or 17 years of age commits a felony of the second degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082, s. 775.083, or s. 775.084. As used in this section, “sexual activity” means oral, anal, or vaginal penetration by, or union with, the sexual organ of another; however, sexual activity does not include an act done for a bona fide medical purpose.

Recall that loverboy was 25 when he married his 17 y.o. darling.

    snip

PALATKA, FL — Ronald Cummings and his 17-year-old girlfriend, Misty Croslin, now have a marriage license and can tie the knot legally as early as Thursday.

With a license in hand, the two have to wait three days to get married since they haven’t received any pre-marital counseling. This means on Thursday, the couple can have a ceremony with either a minister or with the clerk of the court.

The couple obtained the license Monday, one day after Cummings, 25, asked Croslin to marry him.

The big moment took place Sunday night at a Chili’s restaurant in Palatka with several family members around them.

  41. NancyS says:

    Suz,
I agree and knew about the law but he was 24 when they met. No big deal to me actually, I just think he married her so that she didnt leave. Heck we can all be wrong….ya never know

    Hi
can you please tell me what blogs this is going on so I can read it. I havent got a chance to see this. Free Ron Cummings and all the school girl crushes etc….

  43. Al MIller says:

I am a long time frequent reader (I’ve checked into blinkoncrime a couple times a day almost every day for the past 18 months or so) but I am an infrequent contributor. Tonight, I just feel compelled to share. Here goes. I just found myself in a situation where I found out my husband of 6 years has been doing drugs right under my nose for the past couple of years. This is not the first time he has battled addiction in his life, and I have bickered with him a few times about marijuana use here and there, but this has definitely been the most severe time since I have known him both in length of time using and severity of kinds of drugs. He hid it well, and was functioning pretty well, amazingly, for a long time…..the drugs he has admitted to using are shocking. To set the stage for you, I do not have addiction issues and have never done drugs. We are white collared career people who live in a very nice suburban upper middle class neighborhood and we have kids. Once I became aware of what was going on with my husband’s drug use, dishonesty, misuse of our money, etc., he was booted out of our house so fast it would make your head spin. Just the thought of him exposing us financially, safety -wise (by even associating with whatever scum deal said drugs), I suspect he may have possibly picked up drugs with one or more of our kids in the car, I was freaking infuriated. I was like a screaming banshee. He is in a longer term in patient drug treatment center now, but since then, I have had my family over changing locks, installing alarms, and today I took the emotionally challenging step of moving my spouse’s affects into a storage space-with the blessing of his parents and mine (I wanted to make sure that wasn’t too harsh, as I’m past the angry stage and just feel badly for him–I’m just trying to avoid him having a reason to need to come into the house which is now secured and to avoid the kids making the connection, re opening the emotional wounds of where is daddy?). I know I’m not a druggie from the trailer park, so my situation may not appear on the surface to be parallel to the Haylee/ Ron /Misty situation, but I will tell you what: My situation pales in comparison to what was going on at the Cummings home: drug use, drug dealing, partying, etc. Yet, nonetheless, when confronted with a seemingly milder situation, I shut that crap down faster than you can say “Misty is a scumbag.” It is my duty to protect my kids and make choices for them since they are too young to make their own decisions. Because of this betrayal of trust and endangerment of me and my kids, not only will my husband NOT live in my home, but I will most likely be filing for divorce, as much as I hate the thought of it. There will be supervised custody, drug testing in order for him to even see the kids, and maybe I will get a little crazy and hire a PI. Ya never know. While it is therapeutic for me to type this and to share my story, my point is……
WHEN will parents be prosecuted for allowing this kind of funny business to go on in their homes or around their kids? I would never, ever forgive myself if I caved an let my husband move back in and something bad happened, and I would be willing to take whatever penalty or punishment there was for it, as it would be MY FAULT for knowingly allowing the exposure of risk to my kids. Don’t we have to ask ourselves WHY did he associate with the drug dealing, no good Croslin gang at all? I know Ron is kind of rough around the edges like the Croslins are, but, geez, once you involve kids, don’t you cut the cord on risky behavior by default? But then, my husband didn’t either,so, actually, I’m not sure why it surprises me at all, since by all appearances, my husband had way more to lose–higher stakes, if you will (I mean that mostly in the material sense, nice house, nice cars, beautiful *If I do say so myself* and non-druggie wife, beautiful healthy kids, good career, position in life where he IS versus where he started,as in rags to riches, and most likely now back to rags again for him because of his bad choices, but I digress, point is I am not meaning to belittle that Ronald also had a lot to lose, as he actually lost his child), so, since I see this in my own house, I’m not sure why Ron’s carelessness surprises me at all, but it just DOES because I am a normal, well-adjusted person who has sound judgment and common sense. I’m sure I am just extra sensitive because of the situation I am in, but I almost blame Ronald even though I have never felt he had AnYtHING To to do with his daughter’s murder because I had a less serious home situation and I immediately laid the smizzy fo shizzy.(aka smack down) That rap slang is for you, Blink. You haven’t done that in a while, and I miss it-it always cracks me up. And I could use a laugh.

These parents putting their kids in compromising situations is the cause of 90% of the sad stories we all puzzle over here on blinkoncrime.com, and it is starting to piss me off. Thanks for listening.

You absolutely did the right thing, your in my prayers, stand your ground.
    B

If there were human bone collected from the river then DNA testing results should be back by the end of the week or the first of the next week to determine if Haleigh? It has been a long 14 months to locate this child. Ron the custodian parent, left a minor to care for his children. What a mess!

  45. Al Miller says:

While reading back through these comments, I recalled that RoNald had been suspected of physically abusing Haleigh in the past, I believe there are photos of her injuries and that it was also reported to LE at the time. So while generally I feel he didn’t murder her, that one piece makes me second guess it. By accident, most likely, but he could’ve done it.

  46. JR says:

MsEnscene: I know what you mean about this epidemic of people seeing an imaginary halo over Ron. He seems the type who typically surround themselves with adoring females (including Mom) and anyone else they have under their thumb. Pretty much a sociopath that can often be hard to spot and even quite intriguing to those who haven’t had the hard lesson to know the type.
What I really found unbelievable and haven’t really heard anyone mention was the basically incestuous gushing from none other than cousin Hope. During an otherwise remarkably pissy phone call to her mother from jail, Hope took on a whole other squeally school girl persona to report the exciting news of riding in the cop car with cousin Ron. It sounded more like someone with the brilliant luck of sitting next to their favorite celebrity, not the bad news cousin that is pretty much the reason for her sitting in jail. Not only replaying everything he said word for word but actually bragging about how they even touched! Her mother’s response even indicated this seemed a little f—— up, being so enamored with her cousin to not even try to hide it!

Anyways, Scott Peterson, Ted Bundy and even Richard Ramirez were all reported to have tons of fan-mail. There are also plenty of regular inmates with women doing everything to be in their lives. Its hard to think women could be more concerned about Ron’s day to day feelings or appearance than the real issue of what little 5 year-old Haleigh experienced to no longer be here nor alive!

The one defense I will give him though, whatever he did or however he failed – he is already facing the ultimate low. Losing a child is probably the worst possibility for a loving parent of any sort and likely far worse knowing you had any remote cause. And even worse would be dealing with all this (cover-up or not) on national TV, pretty much the entire time. Then on top of that, facing god knows how long behind bars…all this BEFORE the real case is even resolved!

  47. MsEnscene says:

    Nancy S.

I don’t know how to link. But just google “Free Ron Cummings” and you will get petition sites with comments from supporters.

Almost any true crime site will have many Ron supporters. True TV’s board “In Sessions” has vehement ones. There’s a difference in believing him not guilty of anything and obsessively defending him against all comers. JMO.

  48. suz says:

NancyS, Ron might have been 24 when he met young Misty, but when he got all the media and police attention he was in felony range. I’m sure people started to make noise about that. I think that’s why he married her, and why he divorced her with no prob after he was in the clear (and besides, she had gotten too old; he’ll need to troll the high schools again for his next love interest). Whoops, snark alert! lol

  49. melissab says:

I know this sounds rude but as far as the Turner’s Syndrome being a problem for Ron, it wouldn’t. That is a guaranteed paycheck for him through SSI, which qualifies the family for food stamps and Medicaid for medical. Depending on Butterbeans’ condition at birth he may recieve a check also. There are several things that qualify a child for SSI so Ron didn’t have to work really cause the government paid him already. I do not know for sure if Ron collected these payments but knowing his ability to ‘work’ the system I don’t doubt he collect.

  50. Judi says:

They found bones. God Bless this angel. See attached article. Also says that Ron broke down upon LE giving him the news and Chrystal was seen leaving the police station crying that Joe killed her baby. And, that Joe has changed in the last 14 months and that he has been irritable. Such a sad, sad story. Justice for Haleigh.

    http://www.artharris.com/2010/04/21/exclusive-cops-show-misty-croslin-the-bones-will-dna-tests-id-haleigh-cummings-remains/#more-4165

I hope this precious, innocent child was not alive when thrown in that river with a rope tied to her and 2 cinder blocks.

Does anyone see any remorse whatsoever out of the Croslins. I don’t see ANY remorse from any of the Croslins. Does the Croslin family even have a conscious?

Misty, Tommy and Joe all knew all along and all had a direct hand in precious Haleigh’s murder, recgardless of which version of the story is true. All three of them should pay.

God Bless Haleigh Cummings. She has been given angel wings now and is with the Lord. My deep condolences and prayers to the family.
