Haleigh Cummings Case: Sources Say “WE ARE CLOSE”

ARREST IS IMMINENT

Putnam County, FL– Since Monday, breaks in the case of  5 year old Haleigh Cummings, missing from her home since February 9, 2008, have caused a search team to be stationed at the St. Johns River.

Misty

Sources tell blinkoncrime they are close to making an arrest in her murder.

HaleighSearch041410LgVanLeaveLate this afternoon sources inside the investigation have confirmed that Misty Croslin, the former step-mother and last person to see Haleigh alive, was brought back to the scene a third time.

Image to the left, courtesy of scaredmonkeys.com poster grnlizard, is of Misty Croslin leaving in the white SUV.

.. We have been hopeful that we could gauge her reactions from the scene, as well as the possibility she might actually tell us the truth, as we have been straight up we are not leaving without what we came for..

“.. The consensus is she is more interested in what was told to us by an unamed individual..”

The recent developments are the work of a 10 month investigation by a retired FBI agent, Steve Brown, who is working for Crystal Sheffield.

“Monday was the culmination of this 10-month investigation I’ve been doing,” said Steve Brown, now a private investigator working for Haleigh’s mother, Crystal Sheffield. “We presented this to the Putnam Country Sheriff’s Office and the FDLE, and with their cooperation, finally got the final details of what transpired in that trailer on Feb. 9th (2009).”

While many are speculating that the search teams are poised to locate the remains of little Haleigh, it is this editors opinion that they are searching for something related to what is missing from the scene, a blanket.

Brown believes the presentation he gave to the Putnam County Sheriffs Office and the FDLE leaves nothing left to interpretation as to what happened in the trailor that night.

“There may be other people culpable, but as to who killed Haleigh, that’s not going to be a big surprise,” Brown said.

Joe Overstreet, Misty Croslin’s cousin who was in town the night Haleigh went missing, but has denied any involvement, was questioned last night at 11 PM for the third time at FBI offices in Tennesee, according to his attorney, Shawn Sirgo .

Sources close to the investigation believe an arrest in this case is imminent, and that Misty Croslin is expected to testify in exchange for a reduced charge in the drug charges against her.

Ron Cummings and Misty Croslin have been incarcerated since January 20, 2010 on drug charges.

Hi Blue. You’re probably right. I wondered if it added to their daily frustrations. This is not a harmonious family.

….and how about that Flora Hollars. I can’t believe anyone (NG) would give her a stage to spout non sense. How can she or anyone in that family be considered a trustworthy source of information? Leaves me shakin my head in disbelief.

Is it ‘fact’ that they found bones? I’ve heard it on NG and the news but I have become very leary to buy into anything unless it’s been made as an official statement by LE. As for who killed her, Misty is the one who needs to talk. I believe Joe knows and that he was there but all this finger pointing seems more about protecting thine own tushie than revealing the truth.

The only time the Croslin family has a conscience is when it suits their purpose. Does that even qualify as a conscience?

Indeed, God bless Haleigh. She will always be safe and protected now.

What a heart wrenching experience for you and your family!!!! No doubt you were all in harm’s way. Thank GOD you found the clarify and wisdom to make a very diffuclt decision. I hope your post is read by those going through a similar situation. You prove it can be done when you do it for the right reasons…..protecting your family.

God bless you friend. I pray you continue to draw strength from your friends, family and YOURSELF. xo

    Hiya JR!

I try to keep an open mind. I tend to think I’m on the right track but then someone posts their thoughts that subjects me to consider other possibilities. You offered insightful feedback. This site is blessed with amazing minds such as yourself!!!! I, too, appreciate your kindness :)

You said …..’he could of orchestrated her apparent disappearance as a desperate and selfish attempt to spare himself of incriminating evidence or blame’. I am leaning on that theory myself. Revealing how Haleigh was killed would also reveal some incriminating evidence. There are so many holes in this case….I don’t know whether to scratch my watch or wind my butt (my favourite line from Steel Magnolias).

Perhaps, its taken this time in jail for Misty and Tommy to ‘defog’ their heads and the police to then ‘deprogram’ their beliefs of all that Ron could have promised, threatened or so convincingly said.’ <—– Great point! They’ve been thinking all this time under the influence. All of them. Drugs, alcohol…whatever. I wonder if any of them were treated for withdrawals???? Random thought. By now, they’d certainly be more focused but as you mentioned, maturity is a huge factor here. Tommy and Misty are not the sharpest knives in the drawer. Don’t know much about Joe but from what I’ve seen from him and G’ma Flora, a lack of common sense and street smarts might be a genetic factor.

Teresa Neves…..there’s another issue I have. That wild goose chase she sent that bounty hunter on was intentional. For someone who wanted answers, her walk didn’t jive with her talk. When I compare this to Casey Anthony’s case, is it maternal nature to protect your child even under these circumstances???????? Or, does Teresa herself have something to hide? Cindy Anthony certainly does. I don’t know if she’s protecting Casey or herself but none of these women are thinking about their grand daughters.

JR, I look forward to reading your posts soon! You called it….Ron’s behaviour is odd. His initial reaction, the grief and tears were genuine to me. Not long after, he did an about face and pulled himself together. Almost ‘desensitized’ for lack of a better word. Whatever happens, I think it’s possible he could be considered an accessory to murder after the fact??????? Just another silly humble thought of mine.

    Peace my friend~~~~~~

I just want to support you in your strength and conviction. Hard to do during a painful time of loss of partnership and trust… — I am glad you have the support of your family in doing what is right to protect your children. I agree with your comments about Ron C – the responsibility started with him and Hayleigh was sadly neglected.

  7. Ragdoll says:

    So there are no remains.

Why is everyone depending on Flo-money’s testimony????? This woman is contradicting herself, can’t keep her stories straight…..AND is ratting out her grandchildren!!! If she was doing it for the right reasons as she claims, she would have gone straight to the police.

Hasn’t anyone learned from NG’s mistakes? Give these people a stage and they’ll sell their crap to the first bidder. Like Padilla, she talks just to hear herself. There’s nothing credible about the information she’s offering. It even sounds contrived.

  8. MsEnscene says:

How about the theory that Ronald is the main guilty party of…whatever happened to Haleigh, but he convinces Misty to take the heat for him. He marries her for legal reasons and for payback for her assuming the position of helpless caretaker, and to keep on script which says that Haleigh was abducted while Misty slept and Ron WAS AT WORK.

When it looks bad for him to be married to one who is “inconsistant” and constantly in LE’s radar, Ron divorces her. Misty never seems upset about being tossed aside. She’s o.k. with it. No prob. if Ron wants it.

But, she’s not really tossed out. Ron keeps her very close. They “hang out” and he uses her in her underage legal status for drug-dealing biz purposes.

Misty is in luuuurve with Ron, as she tells her mom from jail: “I still love him, Momma. He’s not my first love, but he is THE ONE.”

Misty’s clean up crew, whoever they may be (and I think we can include both her brothers and their wives in that group), think they are merely protecting their baby “Sissy” from fallout from an accident that happened under her watch. They may not know that Misty is taking the fall for Ron. They are all more or less complicit in disposing of Haleigh’s body after the accident, but are not guilty of any actual harm to the child.

Meanwhile, Ronnie has his own clean-up crew–assorted female relatives who have enabled him throughout his life to be a spoiled, angry, very bad dude.

They support the main story line of Haleigh disappearing under Misty’s watch. Misty is the “the best GF Ron has ever had” and they are so delighted with her and the wedding; that is, until Misty becomes “inconsistant” in her stories and Ron is receiving heat from his liason with her.

Finally, when Misty is arrested and in jail, she becomes persona non grata in the Cummings family. On jail tapes of their conversations, Momma Teresa congratulates Ron for getting Misty put in jail when nobody else could do it and asks him if he thinks “the witch” has talked.

I’ll bet LE wishes they had a stadium in which to interrogate all the prospective perps in this case.

  9. Judi says:

RAGDOLL – I’ve thought about Ron’s behavior also. The night of, I also believe his emotions were genuine. The more composed look later on I believe is actually due to sedatives or the effects of some other pill (possibly the same pills as in the video of when he got busted, I don’t know).

Several years ago (geez, my kids were toddlers and they are 18 and 17 now), a relative of ours sadly lost her little girl, which was her fourth child but only daughter, at the age of 5 years old. She was at the ice cream truck stopped directly across the street from her house while her Mom watched her from the porch. She was coming back across the street, icr cream in hand, when a teenager who was absolutely flying up this side, residential, kid filled and normally quite (traffic wise) street hit her and DID NOT EVEN STOP – he continued driving up the street WITH HER STILL STUCK TO THE GRILL OF THE CAR. Her mother, who seen it all happen from the porch, chased the car up the street and had it not been for neighbors up the street somehow blocking him, he probably would have never stopped. When she finally caught up to him, he didn’t show any concern whatsoever, he didn’t show any remorse, apologize, or even get out of his car!! She ended up punching him right in the face through the open drivers window of his car. Needless to say, Amy (the mom) bwas an absolute wreck. Her doctor perscribed her sedatives of some sort and she was much more composed (she actually did remarkable well under the circumstances) through the whole viewing, funeral and wake. The teenager who hit her ended up getting convicted of vehicular homicide. That was the worst funeral I have ever been to. My children were never allowed to go to the ice cream truck after that. Thankfully, we live in a neighborhood that really has very little traffic and the way our yard it set up, we have a large yard, fenced in, with the house towards the front of the lot so the yard space is all in the back of the house.

Anyway, my point being is we know Ron was into pills anyway, which probably got worse after Haleigh disappeared. That night, having just got off work, I am sure we are looking at a sober, pill free Ron. Afterwards, we are looking at Ron on pills. Of course, this is just my opinion.

  10. Minnie says:

Flo said yesterday and last week Misty could never in her opinion could hurt Little Haleigh. Then tonight on Jane’s show, Flo implys
That Misty was jeoulous of Ron and his relationship with daughter.
She thinks that may be motive.

  11. Starsky says:

    Hi Blink

does anyone remember that when Haleigh first disappeared, there was something mentioned about Ron being an informant fo the police? That perhaps this was a revenge for Ron turning someone in? I am wondering if the whole drug bust was a preplanned set up between the police and Ron in order to get Misty and Rommy behind bars until they talk? IMO (BTW, I am finally able to understand these abbreviations) Ron is not the guilty party. I think Misty accidentally killed her and the boys tried to help hide that fact. JMHO :0)

  12. Judi says:

IMO, Flo is just another one of the Croslin clan out for her own butt.

I only watched NG one time when Flo was on and I seen absolutely no emotion, no sorrow, when she said that she didn’t know if Haleigh was alive or dead when she “hit the water”. Now, granted she may have not known Haleigh but how can someone talk about how their own grandchildren murdered a little five year old girl and throwing her in the dam river and not show one single emotion? Secondly, if your grandchildren confessed such a horrid sin to you, most certainly you would tell LE but would you go on tv show after tv show? She’s doing it for the money and 15 minutes of frame. She is profiting from what her grandchildren did to little Haleigh. How sick is that in itself?

  13. Judi says:

I don’t know which version or twist is the closest one to the truth, but I think, in this particular case, that the most simpliest and logical is going to end up being the truth.

I can see Misty, hung over from her weekend party binge, her and Ron fighting, kids acting up, Misty looses her temper, hits Haleigh, panics and either Tommy and/or Joe were already there or she summons them and they help her “get rid of the body”. Probably just got back and finished “staging the scene” when Ron got home.

Killing a child because someone can’t find a gun to steal just doesn’t seem logical to me.

  14. Judi says:

I find trying to figure out what brings someone to murder impossible. They are just made up of different stuff then we are. We possess things like a conscious, morals, hearts, etc that they don’t and they possess things like evil, hatred, coldness, etc that we don’t. We see a person in distress and want to help, they see a person in distress and want to take advantage, things like that. There is nothing about us that is the same other than having the outside appearance of a human being. But alas, looks can be deceiving and one should never judge a book by it’s cover – the human being cover only serves to mask the monster that lies within.

Look at Blink. Works so hard on these cases, fights so hard for the victims and their families, absolutely an amazing individual our Blink is. And, you know what? She probably doesn’t even know the gift to society that she is, what she has meant to so many grieving and hurting loved ones.

Look at all of us posters on BOC who, despite being hundreds or thousands of miles away, never meeting these families or victims, care. We care about justice, care about the victims, care about the families.

Look at the people who help search for people they have never met.

This is what people, human beings, do.

Murderers, on the other hand, only think about themselves, themselves only, and absolutely not a soul else.

  15. Al Miller says:

Thanks to Blink and others for your nice words of support regarding my situation. It means a lot. I hope they get Misty to crack soon.

  16. CJ says:

Questioning and putting puzzle pieces together. The police say “an arrest” is imminent. Which means, the person (or persons) they suspect are not currently in jail (Otherwise they wouldnt have to arrest them).
If Misty was involved in the murder then she would NOT be neogitating on less jail/prison time. She also would not be testifying against someone else. Logical conclusion.
Joe and/or Tommy Croslin more than likely raped Haleigh, killed and then threw her into the water, or threw her in alive so she couldnt tell what had happened to her. Misty of course was home and witnessed the whole thing.
LE already knows what happened…someone gave them “the story” and they just have to find enough evidence to support the knowledge they already have.
They found a yellow rope in the water and at Tommy Croslin’s brother’s house.
Another author wrote that nobody follwing the case and putting together the facts will be surprised in the “who done it” scenario.
I think it’s pretty well laid out.

  17. Susan2 says:

#16. CJ, I disagree. The person or persons in jail are there for different charges. They don’t have to rush to arrest them because they know exactly where they are. When they arrest them, they will be arrested on new charges. In my opinion, Misty is involved up to her eye brows or she wouldn’t have flunked four lie detector tests. Who said Misty was negotiating with anyone? Who said she was testifying against anyone? My guess is, Tommy started “talking” after he flunked his lie detector test and Misty is still trying to cover her azz.

Judi, thank you for your insight. I never thought about the sedatives. It makes sense. He seemed completely out of it a few times on NG. I just wonder if it was ‘self prescribed’.

What a horrific story!!!!! I cannot imagine what your relative went through. I am so sorry about your little neice. I feel honoured you’d share your story and I send you lots of love and prayers xo

  22. Sue H says:

Flo Hollars should have spoken to the police and to nobody else. She doesn’t know anything. She only knows what the grandchildren told her. She is babbling out her random thoughts, and can disagree with what she just said in the same sentence. First she says Misty couldn’t do it and then she assigns her a motive. It’s ludicrous to keep giving her an audience. About the point where she was saying the parents were crackheads and if Misty was molested, she must have liked it, that was it for me watching Flo Hollars, lol.

I keep thinking Misty was irritable coming down from the drug binge and cracked Haleigh a good one when she was whining or something. I hope there is justice for that poor little girl. What a nightmare.

  23. Minnie says:

    Above from Judy.
This is what I have thought from beginning except instead of hitting her, she calls Ron at work; and he says, “oh just give her a couple pills. That will calm her down. Then when they check on her, she is dying, so Misty hits her on the head because she does not know what to do. She calls Tommy and Joe comes. Joes goes to the bed and picks her up. Junior sees him in black and knows it is not Tommy and then the rest is down at the river.

These people are all crazies. Ron did it, no he didn’t he was at work, but disappeared and went home somehow invisibl and killed Haleigh and then called his mom and gramma and they rushed to his house and hid the body to protect Ron and of course Misty too as she is the best daughter in law EVER. JUST REDICULOUS chatter is what it is. just plain waste of my time to even read. I hope to hear some real news about justice for this baby girl soon as I will not watch Nancy Grace or Jane as it is like Jerry Springer not an ounce of truth. pray for peace for this child and for her family.

  26. Minnie says:

Wish they would give the results of Joe’s lie detector test like they did for Misty and tommy. Then we could figure this thing out.

Wait…he did have one didn’t he?

  27. MsEnscene says:

How about Ronnie’s LDT? That’s the one I am curious about. You know the one he passed “with flying colors.”

  28. Ragdoll says:

True dat McEnscene. He did pass the test…unless he’s one smoother liar.

  29. Judi says:

This Croslin family is something else. First you got Misty, Tommy and Joe giving all different stories. Now, you have Cheslea and Flo calling each other liars. What is it with this family???? Can any of them speak the truth? I think it a pre-requisite that you must be a hell of a liar and only care about yourself in order to be a part of the Croslin family because that what it seems as though each and every one of the Croslins are to me – liars and selfish.

So, couch bouncing, man in black is supposedly now true and was Tommy and/or Joe now raping Haleigh as she cries and Misty grabs Junior and just goes hides under the covers???

You know what, this story gets more disgusting as it goes.

The whole Croslin clan is POS’s, IMO.

  30. NancyS says:

    Judi!

    AMEN!!!!

  31. MsEnscene says:

Rag, we know Ron is a liar. How smooth, I dunno. We don’t know whether Ron passed his test or not. We have only his word for it. LE has remained very silent.

Ron also said that both he and Misty passed. We know that Misty didn’t pass. So was Ron lying about passing his? Maybe he doesn’t know whether he passed it or not. I’ll place my beliefs on hold until LE makes any kind of announcement as to his veracity.

We know of Misty’s failures because she took private LDT’s. I don’t recall the cops making formal announcements as to her tests…only that in their interrogsations of her they found “inconsistanties” and that she is the “key” to unlock the mustery of Haleigh’s fate.

So if she is the “key”, who is the “lock”? A lock and a key are so close. Who is Misty closest to?

If you watch those videos of Misty talking with her dad, she claims over and over with a straight face, that she did nothing wrong. She states that she WASN’T buying or selling drugs. She’s lying because we can WATCH her dong that very thing on a hidden camera.

    ok…….

She lies bold face about that…..why should anyone believe her about the night Haleigh vanishes.

  36. MsEnscene says:

Who are the people to whom Misty is constantly pointing? Who are the people who are seemingly safe from her accusations? She’s a liar. Constantly changing her stories about her targets and what they did. She never accuses herself of being involved;she is a victim, too. Look in the direction of those whom she is not accusing of being involved in Haleigh’s disappearance and you might find the real culprits. JMO.

  37. Ragdoll says:

    Kudos Randie.

That’s been my sentiment. Much like Casey Anthony…..how we would EVER be able to distinguish a grain of truth coming from Misty or Casey’s lips?????? I’ll let the pros do their job and pray they can break these two freak shows down.

  40. LynneinMd. says:

Since everyone seems to be a liar in this case, the only way we will ever know anything is evidence. Flora can’t possibly continue with what she supposedly heard on those calls if they were not recorded. Don’t they record all the calls from jail? Since we have not heard them, maybe it is true. I think I’m going nuts here with this clan.

  41. who knew says:

This might sound crazy, but when I went to Satsuma, (looking for Haleigh,) there were certain times and locations, which felt demonic to me. I could literally feel pressure, nervousness, and tightening in my chest
One spot specifically, was the shed behind the vacant, neighboring trailer. (Which I recall reading early on in the case) is the same shed, which the dogs led law enforcement to. They found the door open, but nothing inside and closed the door.

I also find it odd; the vacant trailer next door had never been searched…. (To my knowledge). But I’m sure someone would have gone inside by now.

To me, the answer lies within the phone records. The records piece together the best timeline of everyone’s whereabouts.
Ronald : called Tommy, to have him check on Misty. Was it a Cell phone, or a house phone? Who was with Tommy at that time?

Tommy says: he went, and no-one answered. What time did he go, did he go alone, and how did he get there? How long before he returned? Did he speak with Ron after that? Can anyone corroborate??

I’m assuming, Tommy, Joe, and Misty all have cell phones, Triangulation yet??

I can picture: Misty abusing Haleigh, and she died as a result. The other two retards showed up, and helped Misty, by disposing of little Haleigh.

I believe, Tommy is the one who threw her into the river. He has thrown deer carcasses in there before, he is comfortable there, and this is his spot of choice for other illegal dumping.

    Hey Ragdoll et al:

if you want to hear some pretty damning indication of Ron’s involvement, listen to BNN radio’s sunday podcast here:

    http://www.blogtalkradio.com/simon-barrett

its kind of slow the first part but you can scroll through to the better segments – at about 1:27 in, Cobra (the local bounty hunter and early inside investigator of this case) goes off on one of his raw accounts of his investigation. He refers to an evening about a month into the investigation where he had planned a re-enactment of Misty’s account of the crime scene. Everything was set-up ready to go and him, Ron and Art Harris had met up in a local diner beforehand. They were waiting for Misty and basically confirming everything was a go but apparently Cobra said something that suddenly sent Ron into a tizzy, calling Nancy Grace’s personal cell on speed dial. Not only did Cobra hear Nancy Grace (on speaker phone) assure Ron help in lawyering up right then and there, but also what Misty said when she called Ron immediately after. She was basically refusing to do the re-enactment and told Ron to get away from Cobra because “…he was onto them”.

Apparently when Cobra confronted Ron with what Misty had just said about being onto them, Ron tried to somehow cover himself by saying he was going to go home and shoot Misty in the head cause “…now he knows who did it”. Cobra and Art Harris believed Ron capable of carrying out the threat, they called the PCSO to escort them to Ron’s grandma’s until he calmed down. The next day Ron was lawyered up and so for Cobra, that was that. There is also a statement analysis expert determining both Ron and Misty’s language indicative of deception and already aware Haleigh was dead.

Anyways, some of the Cobra stuff might sound as over dramatic and questionable as I find Art Harris often is, but for some reason this underground Cobra character has usually rung more true to me than the usual sources on this case. (I’m referring to what we get from the mainstream media, Blink is still my top source over all) I know this case is down her list of priorities and although I’m interested in how it finally gets solved, I don’t blame Blink being annoyed by it at all.
