NH Girl Celina Cass Body Found in CT River: Police Probe Focuses on Family Home And StepDad Wendell Noyes

Posted by BOC Staff | Celina Cass,Louisa Cass,Wendell Noyes | Tuesday 2 August 2011 12:04 am

West Stewartstown, NH-  Celina Cass, 11 year old Canaan Middle School Student and  basketball player with a luminous grin, was recovered from the Connecticut River this afternoon.

For nearly a week, the tight knit community of Stewartstown,  with a population under 1000,  held vigils for the shy tween, while over 100 police and  FBI agents dedicated unparalleled  manpower to the search for her.

At 10:30 this morning, the remains believed to be that of Celina Cass, were located following efforts to lower the Connecticut River, less than 1 mile from her home.

The sister of Keith and Kayla was removed at 5:30PM EST this afternoon.

Speaking on the condition of anonymity to www.blinkoncrime.com, sources inside the investigation have confirmed that electronic forensic evidence led to  Celina’s recovery today.

While Celina’s stepfather, Wendell Noyes, has not been named a suspect in her disappearance and subsequent death, ” Mr. Noyes’s previous mental diagnosis are a clear factor in this case.”

(Editors Note:  My quote in response to a request to analyze this case: Wendy Noyes is a creeper.  I would not let him look at an enemies kids yearbook.  This child went from images of an average child of her age, to  a blossoming young lady.  If you have anyone in the house, or periphery in the preceeding 72 hours of her disappearance  with any sexual issues, or fringe of same, this is your top tier priority.  StepMonster is worthy of further conversation, fyi.)

Mr. Noyes has a history of hospitalization, both voluntary and involuntary.  In a previous incident involving a former girlfriend and her family,  Noyes was arrested, and subsequently hospitalized as a result of an admitting resident finding that he was a paranoid schizophrenic.  During the criminal phase of this allegation, Noyes was classified as “Unfit to stand trial.”

Outside the Cass/Noyse residence this afternoon, following the announcement Celina was recovered,  Noyse appeared outside screaming and rolling in the lawn, necessitating his most recent psychiatric evaluation.

Requests for a comment or statement from the Cass Family have been unanswered at the time of this publication.

Some people will always weigh in on the lives around them but their own. If being conscientious and protective is sad, I’d rather be miserable than happy. YOU BE YOU!

@ Survivor, you OWN that name as far as I’m concerned. Thank you for sharing your horrible experiences with us. It only helps us to understand the dynamics of families like Celina’s.

Does anyone know how long Celina’s mother and WN have been married? read he wasn’t diagnosed with schizophrenia until 2003. His family is literally a genetic pool of sexual offenders and perhaps other mental issues. There seems to be a few dangerous triggers in Celina’s life. What about the young man who lives in in the house with the Cass family….who is he and why is he there?

Still, WN was the last to see Celina. Can it be as simple as that? Celina being weighted down in the water….I wonder if there were any ‘military’ tactics used to keep her down.

    Dearest Blink,

Hoping you are refreshed after your vacation and that you are relishing the last few weeks before school with your children.

I only have one comment and that is an old one..Boots on the ground..boots on the ground. The only way this is solved is in that context..too many missing links that only are availabe to someone in that town, with knowledge of the local vibe.

The entire house was sealed..not just the basement and first floor apartments rented by her family. The second floor apartment on the right side in the photo is vacant with a for rent sign..the other side of the second floor seems to have curtains in the window…and the third floor seems to have been occupied.

Who were all the occupants of the apartment house? Who else knew that Celina and her sister slept in the basement now? Who else knew that her sister was away that night..and on those nights Celina slept on the living room couch?

There is also a side door to the house..that LE was photographed at..where does that lead..a mudroom that goes to the first floor or an entrance to the basement..and entrance to the second floor..or all of these? Was that door locked that night..was the front door locked that night?

Besides Wendall, Kevin and the rest of Celina’s family..who else had access to those doors..or the other apartments..who the heck lived on the third floor? Who occupied the apartment on the second floor that still had curtains? Yes..I know aunt and her daughter lived there in the house..but where..which floor and who else rented the other apartment that was still occupied? Who moved oout of the second floor apartment that is vacant..what do they know about the comings and goings?

A nine bedroom house and no one heard or saw anything..not likely..we just don’t have that info..but boots on the ground would..if the people talked..and the whole town seems to have closed ranks.

I pray that LE has more info then we do..because I would hope they are listening to what Celina’s body is telling them..because it appears the town people aren’t saying too much.

Dearest DD- there is never a time when I do not think of you, when I hear that boots on the ground phrase, which I now hear to the tune of Idol’s “pants on the ground”.

I have enjoyed family time, and honestly I dread sports starting already. I admit I am having the issues mom’s have that all we want to do is spend time with our children, and all they want to do is not to appear as though they want to spend time with us, lol.

I suspect that the majority of this community knows exactly what is going on, and the reporting is simply that, not investigative.

That’s exactly what I was hearing in my head!!!

@ Ragdoll – Thanks for that! Funny as it sounds, I wouldn’t change my life experiences for anything. They have made me what I am and I am pretty proud of me. That doesn’t mean things don’t get to me sometimes but as it’s been said, “If it ain’t worth workin’ for, it ain’t worth havin’”. And I know that my children are more safe, happier and protected than I ever could have been. They may despise that sometimes, but so long as they are under my roof….

@ Word Girl. Thank you! I haven’t been able to watch the whole video when I have some quiet time without kids hanging over my shoulder every waking moment!

Celina’s case is one of those that has strong parallels and I am afraid for what hasn’t been released that we will learn about her life. I’m not backing off the belief that mom knew something even if she wasn’t cognizant of knowing something and it’s my gut that tells me that – not experience. There is something about her demeanor and the look in her eyes that speaks. She may be experiencing horror on earth but I can’t help feeling like she knows deep down inside exactly what happened and regrets not protecting her child. They were only married a year. I haven’t seen anything about how long they knew each other but I really wonder whether she knew his history. She has a look of guilty knowledge on her face and it will be interesting to see where that comes from.

I pray that she did not suffer. I hope that her life was not in vain and that there is justice for her. I don’t see the sadness in her eyes that was so evident in Caylee’s. That gives me a little hope. Media reports say that she liked her SF. It seems almost too much to ask that she was surrounded by sexual perversion and that she was spared from that personal violation. I’m just having a hard time with this case. There are too many possibilities and all of it is hard to swallow.

Your post about Warren Jeffs. This guy was a cult leader that based their teachings on the Mormon religion.

The Mormons began in New York state in the 1830′s were forced out of the state because the elders were in effect pedaphiles. Then they moved to Ohio where the people forced them to move again. Next to Illinois and Missouri and finally made the trec to Utah territory to form a country of their own so they could ply their cult of pedaphelia unmolested.

After other non-mormon groups moved to Utah, and it was about to become a state, the Mormons decided to change their ways and stop the pedaphelia.

The group that Jeffs acted as prophet for was a breakaway group that had land in Southern Utah and Northern Arizona. When the authorities in Utah and Arizona began to press charges for the cults activities, they bought land near Eldorado, Texas and built a large facility. These people live off the land and what they can steal from state and federal government welfare programs all the while engaging in a type of sex slavery.

I am like you, glad to see the pervert put in jail. The state of Texas tried to break up the cult and charge the elders with crimes, but the feds stepped in and prevented the charges from being heard.

I don’t care what anyone says about “freedom of religion”. When people lose their free will to “belong” to a sect, that is absolutely a form of slavery, which as we all know was abolished following the bloody battles of the civil war. Purchasing land, and living “off of it” does not entitle ANYONE to break it’s laws behind it’s walls. I will never forget watching the children being removed from that compound wearing those sacks of different colors and thinking how scared they must have been.

Imo you are correct ATG, we should have acted sooner.

Please be carefull with your little ones. Make certain that the coaches watch closely regarding the heat and how they remain hydrated.

It is over 100 degress every day in our area. The children have started their programs. Most are using good sense and practicing early each morning and after dark when it is cooler. It was 95 degrees on my deck at 8:00 P.M. .

Have been thinking about “what” actually IS happening w/his heart condition.

IIRC he was in a medically induced coma for 13 -or- 18 days? Hosp woke him up to tell him about Celina being missing & he goes AMA to issue a personal plea for her return? His mother said he was to have ‘heart surgery’ ?? But I have not seen ‘what’ type of surgery …

IF, if his heart is letting blood pool by not pumping/emptying correctly due to the heart failure, that could be “a clot &/or more” broke loose”.

With the stress of first Celina’s disappearance & now death combined w/heat/humidity, may have created that “perfect storm” of events that pushed his heart “over the edge”. Throw in any rhythm issues w/any of the other problems and his medical team may be running to keep ahead of cascade of the organ failures.

I do wish his family, mother, father – someone would relay his condition to media.

I also have considered “Broken Heart Syndrome” could add to his whole condition. His mother has said “This [Celina's death] is killing him”.

Adam & his daughter remain in my prayers.

I realize this is OT for this discussion, but I live a couple of hours from the El Dorado compound of FLDS, and have a very dear friend who is from El Dorado. Since the beginning of the most recent trial of Warren Jeffs, the women of the FLDS have allegedly been forcing their children to “Fast and Pray constantly.” THE CHILDREN ARE BECOMING NOTICEABLY THINNER, as many locals have reported in recent weeks. I saw a family last weekend in San Angelo shopping, and the children were very thin—as a teacher who has taught for 20+ years, I was alarmed.

I believe that they are starving their children, and that Warren Jeffs has directed them to do so. According to Carolyn Jessop, one of the FLDS escapees, this is common practice within the cult—and it’s commonly known as a brainwashing technique.

Blink–what to do? I reported what I saw to Child Protective Services. What else can be done?

    Mornin pawtnah!

I’m aware of the FLDS. I think this is a man who took a religion and twisted it to suit his purpose. Extreme Mormonism if you will. What he did, imho, is no different than extreme Muslims who use their religion to murder innocent people.

I feel for people who are upstanding Mormon’s and Muslims, people who use their faith to better their lives and those around them. Westboro Baptist makes us Christians look like we’re anti gay. The God I know loves all His children as they are.

My only concern, now, is what will happen to these children? Where do they go from here and who will help them heal?

Naomi Judd has written an autobiography and it is published in paperback. I found it in a book store located across the street from the Mormon facilities in Salt Lake City in 1999. Naomi is a real grassroots person who lived as a child in a family with little resources. However, her family did have good values. She took her talents and made something of herself. I have the feeling that the song is based on her real experiences.

You better believe that daughters and grandchildren get their vehicles checked before leaving my property. Sometimes it is fifty miles or more between towns that have real auto services on the weekend. If the boys are present, they get that job with me watching.

Thank you for your post about the children of the FLDS. You did all you could do. Maybe this can be fixed in the future.

These women and mothers have been so brainwashed that they think their way of life is normal. They are also kept so isolated that the regular people of the community have little influence.

At last a proper memorial service. This was apparently a collaboration between the basketball coach and the mininster.

This child had just completed fourth grade at eleven years of age. This means she missed a year of school. Normal school time is reaching eleven years and entering sixth grade the following fall. Was she so shy that she could not complete the necessary work at some point?

To the Texas Grandfather regarding grade level and numerical age:
In NH, depending on when the child’s birthday is determines when they will enter first grade. Some children with summer birthdays and definitely those born after September 30, go to a full day of school in a program referred to as ‘readiness’ between kindergarten and first grade. So being eleven years old entering the fifth grade is not that unusual, here anyway.

Regarding facebook posting cell phone numbers: After looking at my account, it appears they are actually posting your phone number on your page. This child reported she has a headache at 9:00 P.M. Had she been drugged? It is a strong possibility. Maybe the LE agency has decided to keep everything they know from the public until they have all the evidence verified.

The house in which they live was at one time a single famly dwelling that has been made into several apartments. It is in a poor state of repair on the outside. We don’t know what it looks like inside. How good the locks are. This house is old enough to have some of the old skelton key locks which are capable of being picked with a pocket knife.

My opinion is that someone in that house is responsible for this crime. There were two men that had access that we know about. One has known physcological and anger problems and is/was in the hospital. The other one may have problems as well.

This town has a society of its own that appears to be somewhat closed to people outside. I have lived in small towns. Most of the time people who live there know everyone’s business.

This case may indeed come down to evaluating circumstantial evidence by a jury. Based on what we have recently experienced, Blink may be exactly right. The ability to think and make resonable connections to evidence appears to be something a lot of people need help in achieving.

Maybe the reason they are saying no new developments any time soon is because they are already sure of the perp (step-dad?) Could be they only need to find a way to prove beyond reasonable doubt so there’s not another Casey Anthony type finish to a trial.

Also on another subject. Poor Breean Rodriguez. Seems her parents failed a poly. Here’s an interesting link on statement analysis I found regarding the interview Breean’s father gave.

What is going on with parents either not caring about or killing their own kids is sickening.

    http://seamusoriley.blogspot.com/2011/08/analysis-edgar-rodriguez-on-nancy-grace.html

There is no doubt in my mind her parents know what happened to her, the second I read that her same bike was at Mr. R’s Aunt’s house.

You know Blink? Folk always say ‘what’s the world coming to?’ Unfortunately it should be revised to say “just look what the world has become.” How do we get it back to as it should be??

  38. Teri says:

@ Moi: I hear ya. Little Breann and Celina didn’t deserve whatever befell them, and in both cases their horror was at the hand of one who ought to have been their devoted protector. How do we get things going back in the right direction, you ask? I believe we could start by supporting marriage and families better – there is so much “brokenness” today, by valuing good character instead of celebrating personalities, by pursuing a closer relationship with God in general. Those are where I think it could begin. All just my opinion, of course.

  39. Riverpearl says:

I am still wondering IF there was “some problem known” BEFORE Celina’s death.

The mother, step-father, son of ex-boyfriend & grandmother slept upstairs & Celina & Kayla were put in the basement – w/a full floor between them.

Why would they NOT put the ex-boyfriend son “in the basement” ?? Especially as Celina did NOT like sleeping in the basement alone ….

Looks like our instincts about Wendell could be right.

  40. Riverpearl says:

    Blink ~

W/Celina’s mother, sister & mother’s ex-boyfriend “moved out of town” & in a new place a “common reaction” to everything that has happened??

The last we read [or have you seen different ?] the ex-boyfriend’s son Kevin still had his truck in police custody.

So WHY would Louisa w/Kayla move w/Kevin to a new place?? Also there was reportedly Louisa’s mother (?) & maybe another relative living w/them in the house they have left …. so where did the go ??

W/ a community so small/tight knit it seems strange to read “they have left town” ….

I have “no experience w/these type of issues” but leaving/moving from the house I understand BUT leaving the town -and- having Kayla start @ a NEW school ?? I would think having the support of family/friends/classmates would be helpful during such trying times…

So IF you could – would explain this “turn of events w/Celina’s mother & sister” ??

    Thank you :)

Well I dont think I get to have an opinion unless I knew from a verified source exactly why they moved.

So Kevin, Louisa and Kayla have moved into a new place-together–and Wendall did even more strange things than rolling on the ground the morning Celina’s body was found in the river:

    The Nashua Telegraph

    http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/news/929105-196/details-on-celinas-lastnight-alive-described.html

    Snipped a couple sections:

“The Chronicle also reported that Louisa, Kayla and Kevin have moved into a new apartment out of town. Kayla and Louisa were having a difficult time staying in the apartment, and Louisa felt it was better to find another place to live.”

“Last week, when Fish and Game divers began searching the Connecticut River, Wendell Noyes walked to a picnic table in the park in West Stewartstown where photos of Celina were placed during an evening vigil. One by one, he lay them all face down on the table. He then walked back to the apartment and was seen lying on the ground and rolling around in front of the apartment building. A few hours later, the family learned that Celina’s body was found in the river.”

  42. Moi says:

Teri, Thank you for your thoughts. Now in my little community we have our own tragedy. A 14 yr old girl gunned down. First of all, I’m all for the right to own a firearm, but this is heartbreaking.

    http://www.wdbj7.com/news/wdbj7-police-investigate-shooting-in-radford-20110812,0,5367088.story

Aside from that, we have a crazy running loose who shot at and tried to run over police officers in the same area. Mind you this “city” it 15K at best. Our entire county boasts 30K. No where is safe, no where cannot be vigilant.

My feeling is the “end of times” as it is suggested is near. The good of every race, religion, and creed will fight against the evil of the same. But all over th world. What will be do, what should we do????

  43. linda says:

I hate the fact that the mother (Louisa) has custody of Kayla. Why would townspeople do anything to help Louisa financially. She’s a lousy mother and should not have custody. IMO the town should wonder why CPS is not involved in investigating Louisa. Where is the father’s family in all of this? They are the grandparents as well. Don’t they care either. guess not!

  44. Eloise says:

Well that is all very interesting. Kinda like, taking the pool down if a child drowned in it? Leaving the house the where your child was murdered?

Momma must think Kevin is innocent in this huh? Well, I wonder what will happen with Wendell if and when he gets out of the hospital? Have we heard if his hospitalization was voluntary or under a TDO?

TGA- I hadn’t recalled Celina had a headache that night, I wonder who reported that.

Was not that evening, it was on her FB a few weeks before I noted.
I am not versed in NH law, but I sense this become a Baker Act situation given the time frame.

  45. A Texas Grandfather says:

    Blink

In regard to your reference to the Florida Baker Act, I did a quick search on the New Hampshire code and found in their Public Health section provisions for Involuntary Emergency Commitment (Chpt. 135-C section 127). Where an individual who is thought to be a threat to himself/herself or percieved to pose a threat to others may be placed in involuntary commitment for a period of time. The State Attorney General has some role to play in making this a permanent commitment for public safety reasons.

Are you thinking that perhaps the step-father did the deed and he will be kept in a mental health facility the rest of his life?

He was removed via ambulance, I have a feeling he is there via administrative/psych hold.
    Yes, he is a suspect.
    B

Sorry Eloise, I misread the time of the headache regarding Celina.

  46. Riverpearl says:

43 y/o Shawn Morgan has been chrged w/1st degree murder, armed criminal action, tampering evidence & is NOT related to Breean &/or family. He is from Senath. A search for Breean’s body in an undisclosed location in Dunklin Co.
Unable to c/p link but read @ WMCTV.com

  47. Yeah, they have charged Shawn Morgan as Riverpearl posted above. They believe she died of suffocation on the day she disappeared. Makes me sick to my stomache!! What makes people do something like this?? I suspect he used her for his sexual gratification, then, tossed her aside, like a piece of garbage. My heart goes out to her parents. Here’s the link for our local news station.

We still haven’t located Jacque Waller & now this. :(

There is a confession in this case, I commend LE and the FBI.

“The Colebrook Chronicle” … a local weekly paper has a new story today that reports quite a few details that I’d not seen released previously about Celina and the household arrangements.

The story in the paper is titled … “July 25th: Celina’s Last Night at Home”.

The article describes how Celina and her Mom Ms Cass-Noyes were watching TV together until 9pm.
Ms Cass-Noyes said goodnight to Celina, and went to bed upstairs in a 2nd floor bedroom.
Celina remained watching TV and was also on the “family computer”.
From this report — it sounds like the computer was in that room on the main floor – not in Celina’s bedroom as was previously reported.

Article further stated that Celina and her sis Kayla shared a bedroom in a finished basement.
Each girl had a real bed – not air mattress on the basement floor.
That night Kayla was spending the night with a friend.

So Mom Ms Cass-Noyes goes upstairs to bed at 9pm, but the article is vague about when Celina actually left this room on main floor though.
Just says that at about 12 midnight when Kevin Mullaney came home to the house, he sat down on the couch where Celina was last seen watching TV/on computer earlier.
(was thought she had gone downstairs to basement to bed by then?)

Also noted that Wendal Noyes extended family had him listed as “friend” on their FB pages … but they recently have all “de-friended” Wendall Noyes and his name does not appear on the FB pages.
He remains in a psych facility.

The cars of both Wendal Noyes and Kevin Mullaney remain in LE custody.

The article lists LOTS of specific times for the coming and goings of all the various people in that house the evening and next morning that I’ve not seen reported anywhere previously.
    Quite interesting reading.

    From Colebrook Chronicle:

    http://www.youtube.com/user/colebrookchronicle?gl=CA&hl=en

“Celina’s stepfather, Wendall Noyes reportedly still in a mental health facility which he checked himself into on August 2nd. Also police are still reportedly detaining his vehicle which was taken from the family home last week .”

“The vehicle also seized earlier in the investigation belonging to Kevin Mullaney has been released back to it’s owner.”

Wendell’s truck must have field test positives or it would have been returned as well.
