Caylee/Casey Anthony Case: 3D Virtual Juror Exclusive- Tour for Yourself

Orlando, FL– While the countdown begins for upcoming motions in both the criminal and civil cases against notorious tot mom Casey Anthony for the murder of her daughter, Caylee, a blinkoncrime.com exclusive:

Overhead mapAn Interactive Tour of the crime scene off Suburban Drive, the autopsy area and digital DNA lab, and the Anthony home where most believe is where 34 month old Caylee Marie Anthony sadly met her end.

Built by a colleague at my request, Angela Talamasca and her team have recreated an interactive simulation that undoubtedly will be used by both the State’s Attorneys and Jose Baez Defense Team.

It is designed to provide a virtual experience allowing the final “triers of fact” to literally transport themselves within the evidence and theories they will be presented to consider when determining the fate of the accused, Casey Anthony.  This proof of concept ”build” includes contribution and consult from leaders in the fields of: Forensics, CSI, Crime Scene Reconstruction and Medical Examiners Investigations.

Currently, we have closed the simulation “island” to the public while it continues development to reflect known evidence and elements of the case.

We got a glimpse of the 3D “view” released in the discovery of Autopsy a flyover of the area where Caylee Anthony’s remains were found. In the second life version (think Wii sims for adults) site called Digital DNA, users will be able to “virtually” tour the scenes by walking through them and simultaneously interacting with the features that will hilight the components and evidence of the case.

Take the Museum tour, interactive crime scene case review, test out your own theories “real time”  or disprove someone else’s; it’s here.

(editors note: out of respect for Caylee’s age, we have used a larger than scale anthropologic presentation)

Angela- I need to thank you for addressing these issues on here-

Angela is too polite to tell you, she is the tech guru and probably chuckles at a question aimed at me regarding same. Thanks again.

Lee and Tony were discussing the long call from the morning of July 16 about eight hours before Casey was arrested.

When Tony answered questions on Scared Monkeys on September 24, he was asked about Casey’s phone call to her home on the night she was arrested when she asked Lee for Tony’s number.

    His reply:

“Okay the jail call has me asking the same thing cuz she hasn’t contacted me at all since she’s been arrested so i would like to know why also.”

Kleat, Back when the patriot act passed, whenever that was, a bill slipped through banning American’s using credit cards for online gambling. In order to gamble online in America you had to like buy those “fake credit cards” you see at Walmart? Or send via western union to someone in a foreign country designated by the Online poker site.(And that is illegal…but….) There was talk of a new bill coming back recently to reinstate online gambling in America. You can research it and see if it fell in the timeframe of the Anthony online gambling going on.

I know it was a couple of years ago. I had immediately thought of that when George told the FBI he told Cindy it was online gambling but it was really one of those nigerian money scams or whatever. I said I bet George gambled, but remember he said he kept every bit of paper from the scam? (Ok me and my buddy Mr. Google have the answer. It was October 2006 online poker banned in US).

We don’t know if there was, in fact, a call that night, let alone what, if anything, she/he may have said if a call did, in fact, take place.

Based upon all of the other evidence we have seen, don’t you seriously doubt that Casey would reveal (her true self or) anything of significance to Tony/anyone?

What I know for certain is that we are all aware of many incriminating facts which all point to Casey’s culpability for Caylee’s untimely demise.

  12. Shelly (J.G.) says:

Ok, lets talk about the Cindy and Casey relationship. This Mama didn’t just up and figure out she had a problem child when said child reached adulthood. My “catch phrase” is going to be…No way Jose.

There are a good many mothers on this board, so let me play devil’s advocate here. Somewhere in your child’s growing up years you figure out your child has a flaw. They just aren’t exactly right. Whether it’s never outgrowing the temper tantrums….taking toys from other children…growing into school age, and showing signs of just not being exactly like other children. It’s subtle and others cannot always see it, but the Mama can. Mama began’s the protective cover up. George realizes it. “We have to handle Casey with kid gloves cause something’s not quiet right.” Those words are never exactly spoken, but it’s just a fact. Yep, happens all the time. It’s human nature. You are not going to admit your child is “just not quiet right”. Lee knows his sister is not right, he admits it in the taped car talk with Tony. He tells a lot there in a few words.

He admits Casey and George share the same “character” flaws. Also, remember the neighbor saying that Casey was cussing her Mother out in a loud tirade and Cindy kept her head bowed, didn’t say a word….? But remember everyone saying, even Lee, that George and Casey fought constantly?

(At the time all this went down, George had hit bottom and was trying to dig his way back up. So we have seen a “good” side of George with Cindy being the mean angry one.)

Ok, back to Cindy. She is working trying to paint a loving family picture to all. Remember her brother said you only heard her bragging about her family, reporting the “good” things?

Her daughter grew up and what did she do? Got pregnant. By the time Cindy figured out, instead of taking her daughter and unborn grandchild for medical attention, she tried to hide it and deny it along with Casey. It was too late for an abortion. She had to somehow placate George and get him ready so he would not fly off the wall. A father is more likely to accept the mental deficit Casey had as “she’s growing up now she needs to understand her behavior is unacceptable.” The mother bear disagree’s, she is still protecting her child from the cold, cruel world that does not accept mental shortcomings. Remember her “My Caylee is Missing”…she says when her daughter told her she was pregnant she told her all would be well and it was? I think the scream of horror we hear Cindy yell “What have you done?”…..was words she had used all Casey’s life, yet never with such horror.

Somewhere along the line in Casey’s childhood, Cindy,RN, saw her child’s mental unhealthiness. IMO in trying to make her child “right” she fed this into the monster she could no longer control. The stealing, lying, and yes, the murderer of Cindy’s own little beloved Caylee.

We can all spend the next year saying well I would have never did this or I would have never did that. I have said I hated psych nursing, and did not chose that path, but, I am a mother and that path will end when I die.

We have had a front row seat to watch the mental deficits of a family come “out of the closet” on such a mind boggling arena.

We can never understand the mother’s demeanor, action, thoughts. Neither can we ever understand the grandparent’s who so quickly cast that baby aside, seemingly forgotten in the family dynamics.

Silver, I think we all understand and appreciate the laws that are in place to give us our rights if we were accused of a crime. The poor children suffering horrific crimes. Poor Caylee, such a senseless death. The lawyers that are stepping forward and the experts have to cost a fortune. Using Caylee’s death to attain the assets to pay for them, plus for a good life for the Anthony’s. That’s what is throwing us all for a loop.

I think the question of who are the monsters in this tragedy is the biggest question. I will say I think someone will break in the cast of characters. The weight of the guilt is too heavy. And it won’t be Casey.

  13. Kleat says:

Mothers who kill– it’s not just in the states and those statistics probably relate closer than we might admit, to the lower populated neighbour.

The other day, a small town, a family apartment complex was met with the horror of a mother killing, not her own child, but a neighbour’s 12 year old autistic boy. The RCMP didn’t start with a thorough search of the apartments, which were ‘family’ oriented and in fact, you had to have children to live there. The boy had gone missing from his front step. Another woman in the complex decided to go door to door, if the police would not soon enough. All neighbours opened their door to her, all but one. She reported this to police, but they said they could not just go barge in. Two days later, and after learning about the neighbour’s mental health who would not open her door to neighbours searching for the boy, they searched, and in the woman’s apartment, the young boy’s body was found. He may have been alive and found earlier, or not.

The woman’s own children had been taken away, she did not take her meds, the ex blames mental health authorities. The woman is charged with second degree murder. No DP’s here. No amber alert was used — the police should not have waited 24 hrs as the child was autistic. No full scale search until 22 hrs after the child went missing.

Why second degree murder, no idea. I guess she didn’t plan it and she will not see much time I’d bet, and if she gets out, can’t make her take her meds.

Will Casey use the same mental defect defense to mitigate her responsiblity? Casey seemed to have never been taught that she had responsibilities to others and never had to face the consequences every time she did something.

So, WHY didn’t they take the opportunity to explain it after the body was found and before the DP back on the table??? They missed a window of opportunity, along with missing the opportunity to clarify to judge Strickland that Macaluso also had a retainer with Casey, which they needed to be open about to the judge and ‘forgot’.

Kleat, casey never really seemed to have much money, did she? I have read about her shopping on cindy’s credit cards, and once she sprung for subway sandwiches, but she was always running out of gas and I don’t think spending much elsewhere. Did she work as a shot girl herself (for tips and drinks)? That would be good tax-free cash. Even if she didn’t, she is cute enough to drink free most of the time, and i imagine she ate at home with caylee. When she was at tony’s cooking for them, perhaps someone else bought the food and she prepared it, except the groceries she took from home when she was picked up from amscot. If you look at the pics of parties with her friends, the food is pretty scarce—just bags of chips and stuff. She could probably nick enough from cin’s purse to buy a bag now and then herself. Cindy seemed to buy diapers and stuff for Caylee. So overall I picture Caseys spend rate being pretty low.

I think only the cell phone ate up money, which is why she perpetrated some of those big thefts. Otherwise, I don’t see her needing much other income to get by. (I have a goodlooking, freeloading brother who has avoided work for most of his life, so I can tell you that a person can live very well off the right friends and family. He’s so nice you just WANT to buy him things and take him out. I think he is probably a bit of a sociopath like casey, but when those types are cute and charming, you forgive their freeloading and cons.)

Where do you see casey having alot of, or any, money?

Agreed. The defense does not have to provide a linear narrative about what transpired, and/or who was involved.

They will listen to the state’s witnesses and theories and will try to break them down in pieces. All that they want is for state witnesses to be discredited and appear unreliable, thus providing reasonable doubt. I don’t know that they will go in any particular direction (at blaming someone specifically), unless nailed to the wall. I think that they will cast suspicion into the wind and away from Casey. As in… anyone of THESE people could have done this, but not my client.

What manifested in the relationship between Casey and Cindy couldn’t have happened in a vacuum. Cindy developed into the “problem solver” for some reason. Was that her role in her original nuclear family, being the only female sibling? It’s likely that either she had no control in childhood, or was required to be in control, or in charge. She was the one caring for, and visiting her elderly parents (vs her brothers). She was the one pulling in a paycheck and taking care of the mortgage(vs George). She was the one taking care of Caylee(vs Casey). This taking charge, controlling, etc may have been the only way that she had experienced any validation, and so that role may have been hard for her to break. I’m not giving her a pass on this covering up for Casey. I just believe that underneath it all she is more fragile, and thus the angry tough exterior: it protects her. During this period when Casey was probably evolving into a troubled child-adult, Cindy went through marital discord, a son that was seriously ill for a time, a parent that had a stroke, all the while being the main bread winner. She was likely overwhelmed. If she had asked for help, it would have gone against the role of being completely in charge, and would have broken the one element from which she derived self-esteem. It is very difficult to change your core persona. Probably the facade of keeping it all together and having a picture perfect family was her way of feeling important. Maybe she didn’t receive enough positive reinforcement as a child, from her family, so she only shared her “successes” with them. We can see how cruelly her brother criticized her in front of a national audience, by writing on a forum. I feel sorry for her in a way. I do believe that she loved Caylee, and I feel sorry for that loss, as well. I think that she had lost so much already, that she was in “emergency-mode” to rescue Casey, as well as to recapture “herself” again, and be back in control..

I think that we ALL would feel very sympathetic to her, if she had maintained her position of loving Casey, but not actively covering for her. The inconsistent statements painted her as deceitful. Her life is in shambles, but her life isn’t over, and she still has the opportunity to change things. I hope that she seeks professional help.

  21. suz says:

kleat, in your heart of hearts, you know casey is nuts on some level, right? psychopath or sociopath or something else, who knows, but there is something that is broken there. That doesn’t mitigate her responsibility or guilt. Her covering up for the crime and lying about caylee’s whereabouts indicate that she knows she was wrong.

She did tell lee’s friend a whole year before this happened that she was feeling crazy and wanted to be committed for awhile. She might have already been having those dangerous impulses the led to Caylee’s demise. Too bad that sign was ignored.

Here’s some disturbing research (google any snippet to find the source articles):

“Homicide is the leading cause of death in children under four. Not crib death as many believe and not by a maniacal stranger but by a parent….. FBI crime statistics show that women commit only two crimes as frequently as men. Shoplifting and the murder of their own children. Although women commit less than 13% of all violent crimes they are also responsible for about 50% of all parental murders.

Many of these instances are contributed to postpartum depression or Baby blues – triggered by the births themselves says Nancy Scheper- Hughes, a medical anthropologist specializig in motherhood, violence and mental illness….A high percentage of these cases are also blamed on impulses as discussed in an article by Mike Rusyigan, a criminologist and Proffessor at San Fransisco University. Impulses like rage and frustration will often end in shaken baby syndrome or suffocation from covering a crying child’s mouth. About 30% are premeditated murder, named Medea killings after an ancient Greek myth, a mother kills to punish someone like a cheating or abusive husband.

Yet another type is the narcissistic idea that the child is stymieing the mothers freedom, happiness or chance at a better life.”

    snip

“Mothers suffering from profound depression differ from teens who kill their newborns and mothers who neglect or abuse their children. They often provide unheeded warnings and attempt suicide…..We found that mothers who killed their children fit into five categories: mothers who kill through neglect, mothers who kill through abuse, mothers who commit neonaticide, mothers who are assisted or coerced into killing their child and mothers who purposefully kill their child.”

    snip

[orlando sentinel] ” In March 2007, shortly after the alleged miscarriage, Anthony called Murphy and told her she was feeling “crazy” and was considering getting “herself committed,” the report said. Anthony had “imagined this life with Brandon [Snow] and that she was supposed to have this baby in October,” according to the report.

Anthony also said she didn’t feel like she was being a good mom to Caylee, but did not elaborate on details to Murphy. When Murphy called the following day to check on the situation, Anthony blew her off.”

    snip

“Research Indicates Many Mothers ‘Almost Snap’. …. While we were conducting research, countless mothers approached us with unsolicited tales about how they “almost snapped.” These ranged from stories relating a moment of frustration in which mothers were able to exert some control and not harm their child, to others in which women had plans and were in the process of killing their child but were saved from completing the act by an unexpected guest.”

    ——-
The book that LE seized from Casey’s room with several bookmarked pages that had to do with child tantrums and how to handle them, coupled with that snippet above about suffocation from covering a crying child’s mouth to shut them up (think duct tape) kind of makes me wonder if she snapped. I know the popular theory is a planned murder, but the lack of a body disposal plan still makes me question that. I don’t think it necessarily mitigates premeditation, though.

Because if Macaluso was going to assert that it was an accidental death, the state would not have said, “okay, she can go now”. They may have offered a plea. Casey made it crystal clear at that point that she didn’t want to plea. So they are going for broke in the hopes of an acquittal. I don’t know how much time you can serve for lying to an officer of the law, but maybe by the time this case goes to trial, she may have already served out the term (and in protective status in jail vs general population in a penitentiary)

Kleat, watched the videoclip. How is it that they can get away with this. This is so wrong. Baez knew this and still agreed to present him on the case. I may be very naive, but honestly it boggles my mind that they keep getting away with the craziness of it all. It’s like a poorly written mystery novel, it just gets weirder and more gut wrenching knowing that these people are out there.

Where is there “big surprise”. They’ve had the chance as was stated, before the DP came in. Personally, I think they want this trial in order to make a name for themselves. Watching part 2 of the videoclip where you see Baez turn to Casey, but looking for the camera and probably telling her, smile to mommy and daddy, just wanted to make me upchuck.

  29. Todd in Tulsa says:

Why are they wanting to delay the fraud case now? Lyons already got the murder trial delayed due to “teaching a class”. I would think if these cases were of such high importance to her, she would “delay” teaching. She uses the excuse of teaching class to delay the murder trial, now she’s using the excuse of “needing more time to prepare for the murder trial” to delay the fraud case. How mixed up is that? She wants her cake, and she wants to have enough left over for Casey to eat it too

  30. Carolyn S from Maryland says:

    What about George? –
He would be funny if the situation wasn’t so serious.
He sits there telling the FBI and cops what a good, honest guy he is and then admits to lying to Cindy about the gambling.
So, being honest doesn’t equal telling the truth in George’s world.
We focus on Cindy a lot because of her angry demeanor, but honestly, who wouldn’t be angry with a husband like George? Haven’t you sometimes noticed in life, (as suz points out in her comment) there are people who are so charming and affable that it is almost impossible to believe evil of them? And then the “responsible ” person in their lives seems to be a shrew, so the charming person gets all the sympathy? but underneath the surface which we cannot see, the “shrewish” person is trying desperately to hold things together while the other person drags everyone down and expects his/her charm to see them through?
I think it is entirely possible that Casey learned to lie her way through life from her dad.
And when it comes to cash, I think Casey perfected removing a few dollars from someone’s wallet. I’ll bet she never took the whole amount. Many times I’ve looked in my wallet and said to myself that I was certain there was a “ten” in there and it isn’t. But my wallet isn’t empty, so I just assume that I forgot where I spent it. We have learned that Casey was in the habit of removing some cash from her mom’s wallet when she could. I’ll bet Casey did that to her friends, too. Just enough for a few purchases, but not enough to trigger alarm. She could easily have stolen tips while she was “helping” tony. Not the whole thing, but a dollar here, a dollar there.
Of course, that ended with her stealing all of Amy’s money. Was it desperation to pay the phone bill? Possible. but it doesn’t seem to have been her usual practice.
Just my opinions and random thoughts.

  31. westsidehudson says:

I think that the defense wants all of Tony’s records because they know that he worked for the police. They will insinuate a large conspiracy by the police to convict Casey, or a rush to judgment, and Tony was part of the action. They are inferring wrong-doing on Tony’s part, because he worked with the police, spoke to the state, but is uncooperative with the defense. I wonder if they have received the tapes and documents in their entirety at this point. They may want to know the scope of how much the state has from Tony vis-à-vis Casey. We certainly have not seen all of the info from Tony to date.

And, of course, if he spoke with anyone else that the defense wants to cast dispersions on, they will try to demonstrate a connection between Tony & OTHER(S), before the death, or a collusion of covering up after the death .

Seattle news just reported that his abandoned SUV was found in Washington State, and he’s thought to have taken a boat north to Point Roberts, WA, then simply walked across the border into Canada. I wanted to clarify my own post. When I said Tony “worked” for the police, I meant him wearing or using a wire for the police, and permitting the tapping of his phone, etc. Not that he was an employee.

Secondly, I don’t know if I can get used to “secondlife”. I was getting vertigo and motion sickness moving around. lol!

  35. Jan says:

#220 westsidehudson — I appreciate your assessment of Cindy. I am so hardened to her it does me good to experience a more humanitarian view of the woman. You are correct that she comes across as deceitful. She also comes across as rude, abrasive and arrogant. Those happen to be 3 personality traits I personally cannot tolerate. But the 2 things about Cindy that are the biggest turnoffs for me are her self-absorption as witnessed every single time she speaks in public (I haven’t slept, I haven’t eaten, all I do is drink water, you’re gonna make me pass out, I’ve lost weight, I want my Caylee back, I have the flu, I wear a lot of jewelry, I-I-I, ME-ME-ME), and her attempt to cast suspicion on Casey’s friends — sons and daughters of parents who love their kids just as much as Cindy loves Casey. I just can’t forgive her that last.

  36. Kleat says:

Joan (Canada), interesting if Macaluso shows up for tomorrow’s hearing, he probably won’t, but maybe he’s going to make his debut all over again with ‘the team’. If that’s the case, I hope that Judge Strickland catches the ‘team’ out on just how many retainers Casey has because he didn’t get the truth the last time he asked.”

Say– too bad Casey didn’t think to come up to Canada ASAP instead of hanging out with Tony– she could have dealt a ‘no dp ‘ deal from here in her extradition agreement! (remember Charles NG??!! disgusting how long it took to get him out of Canada)

Blink, again FYI, the British Columbia news shows that Canada is well aware that Jasmine Fiore’s ‘person of interest in her killing’ may already be right here. But look at the links… there is something about the 12 year old murdered boy by neighbour apparently suffering mental problems (sys. failure??– yes, Canada has big problems too).

Interesting on that case is a GPS firm has attached itself with claims that the death could have been preventable had the child been wearing a tracking device. (better yet– a trained service dog for the autistic children as the dog would not let a child wander in the first place, and if ‘taken’ or lured away, the dog would likely be left ‘behind’ as a clear sign of a problem)

I know Jan. I’m not saying that I like Cindy’s behavior. I was trying to analyze where it came from. As others have analyzed where Casey’s came from. None of my assessments may be accurate. But there was a great deal of dysfunction in that house. Who knows, it could be genetic, chemical, or brought on by environment and nurture, or lack of nurture? All of the above, none???

Kleat, true, but I don’t think she would have lasted long here. No Cindy & George to cover for her.

I wonder why Mark Nejames is holding a press conference the day before the court hearing. Hmmmm.

Blink, I have registered and my name is Laurie Feden. Still struggling getting around to the point I want to call 911 and report myself missing. Unbelievable.

  41. Todd in Tulsa says:

Baez and his “dream team” will try and cast doubt and show suspicion on everyone else but Casey, but in the face of all the evidence that points in one direction, the jury would have to be composed of IQ’s totaling 10. Any person on that jury with a common sense mindset will see Baez is full of very hot air, and rightfully convict the murderer with no accomplice in this crime, Casey

  42. Carolyn S from Maryland says:

I agree with what you said about Tony’s records. The defense seems to indicate that the phone records from Tony are incomplete. So it could be that some of the phone taps the state did with Tony’s cooperation have been withheld so far, and the defense needs to see them to assess damage control. Can’t blame them for that.
I also want to remind some of what Silverspnr posted on the previous thread, about the right to a vigourous defense.
I don’t quite understand some posters who seem to imply that if Baez knows Casey is guilty he should not have taken the case. If all defense attorneys only defended people they thought were “innocent” they would soon be out of work.
One other point. I am not an attorney. But when my boys were growing up, they got speeding tickets. One of them we went to traffic court to challenge.
When we got there we found out there are two choices. You can plead “guilty” or “not guilty”. But if you plead “Guilty” the judge doesn’t have the discretion in sentencing that he has if you plead “not guilty” and then explain the circumstances that you think mitigate the “crime”.
So if you plead “guilty” to speeding and the penalty is $100 fine and 2 points, that is what you will get.
If you plead “not guilty” and then get up and explain to the judge that yes, you were going 50 in a 30 zone, but it was dark and the 30 mile sign was covered by brush and you didn’t see it and the speed limit before that was 50…
The the judge can use his discretion to dismiss the charge or reduce the penalty. But he couldn’t do that if you plead “guilty”.
So for all of you thinking it is ridiculous for someone to plead “not guilty” when they obviously are, that is standard procedure. It is the part of the legal world that does not operate on common sense, but legality.
I hope that isn’t confusing. But someone that is obviously guilty will often plead “not guilty” in the trial hoping that the jury will have sympathy towards them in the circumstance.

But I also think it is probably Casey’s choice to go to trial. Remember that she has been getting through life pretty well (by her standards) by fooling most of the people most of the time. In a trial she only has to fool some of the people, and this has always worked for her. Why would this time be any different? Remember, Casey lives in a differant reality that most of us, so she will not see things as we do.

NeJame said he will hand over documents, disks of information and photos regarding the Texas-based group’s search for Caylee Anthony last year.
Both Miller and NeJame are expected in court at 9:30 a.m. Friday for the hearing.

    Kleat! Are you Canadian, too?

Anybody want to hazard a guess as to what this 2:00 pm today press release from Mark Nejame could be about?

Sorry, I missed Mariann’s post of the same.

This may seem trivial, but why don’t they take those stupid-looking sunglasses away from klepto-Casey and give them to the person who actually paid for them, Amy?

Blink I would be so honored if I could be added to the ‘virtual juror’ community.

Blink, myself as well. I would be grateful

For those of you who tried to register with Second Life yesterday afternoon and didn’t get an email confirmation – I didn’t either. But I tried it again last night and got a confirmation right away. Once you get into Second Life – do a search on Angela’s name – send her a request to add you to virtual juror.

I haven’t gotten a reply from Angela as of yet but I expect to soon. ;-)

Also there are instructions about all of this on the link she sent a few times above. My nym is ‘lily paquot’ if any of you want to look me up on SL.
