Kyron Horman Missing Case: Terri Horman Breaks Her Silence In People Magazine Interview

New York, NY-  For nearly five and a half years Terri Horman has refused to speak publicly about her step-sons case.  Outside of one assertion of her innocence while on the stand in a name change hearing she ultimately was denied, Horman did not speak to any reporters or answer any of their questions regarding Kyron Hormans disappearance. Until Now.

Horman courtesy of People

Horman was interviewed by People Magazines Elaine Aradillas for both the print and online editions,  and will be doing a series of personal interviews over the next week, to include wwww.blinkoncrime.com.

In the brief online video excerpt , the second part to air on ABC’s Good Morning America Friday morning,  Horman  maintains she is deaf in her left ear, a critical factor in the outcome of her first polygraph.

“… At what point are Kyron’s biological parents going to realize I don’t have the answers, they need to change this thing around…”

“…There is so much the public is not being told about this investigation, that’s why I am doing this- nobody is looking for Kyron…”

Horman’s interview drew sharp reactions from Kaine Horman and Desiree Young, Kyron’s parents.

“…Why is she silent for 5 1/2 years if she is innocent.  I want her to tell me where Kyron is.  If she is innocent she should call Multnomah County Sheriffs Office and sit down for an interview…”-  Desiree Young

“Hi friends. Yes I am well aware of the tabloid journalism piece in the media today. FYI – there will be more of the same coming Friday
We have a HOST of MCSO and FBI investigators STILL standing by with interviews and polygraphs when someone actually wants to cooperate. FEEL FREE TO STOP BY THEY ARE WAITING!! STILL!! Until then we’ll stick with the scores of people with valid/accurate information and the failed polygraphs as the only actual actions taken to-date.  To all of you: how about not linking the article/interview?
REMEMBER KYRON?!?!? This is what we need to be focused on!!
Love you Kyron!!” – Kaine Horman post on his Facebook Page

Christina Stoy, www.blinkoncrime.com Editor In Chief was able to confirm with Ms. Horman directly that she has been willing to meet with Kyron’s investigators both previously and in the future with the sole provision that it be conducted in the presence of her Attorney,  Portland criminal defense lawyer Stephen Houze.

Horman went on to say that investigators with the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office have been well aware of “that” over the last five and a half years and they have never requested an interview.  Um, What?

Horman reveals some shocking details about the subsequent polygraphs examinations referenced by Kaine Horman and Desiree Young and other allegations of improper tactics on behalf of MCSO in the second half of her interview to air tomorrow morning on abc’s GMA and on Nightline.

RSE showed up for the sting accompanied by the DEA, not MCSO. Why would the DEA conduct a sting on a MFH and, or a “missing endangered” child? Why would KH need a divorce attorney with prior DEA experience? = Why is the DEA involved in this case at all unless there is a drug component. Did RSE have a prior relationship with them, either as an informant as suggested, or as someone previously arrested for drugs working out a deal.

One has to get to the bottom of who sent Rudi in Terri’s direction,
    well before the sting,
    and why.

possibly, it goes back to Terri’s drug report to “a detective” which
came back to bite thru a controlled by the detective’s dept civilian.
from an informant for an involved cop.

This is what RSE may have been prior to meeting Terri.

Can’t one hear that detective Terri informed to call the FBI to say the Homan home had been alleged to participate in the buying & selling of steroids.

It would be interesting to see if the local field offices directors in 2009-11 ever worked in LA or Omaha office cultures.

Portland FO already had significant bad press over the entrapment of the cinvicted muslim teen. No way they’d admit it if the child abduction was associated with an FBI informant, illegal alien.

  5. A Texas Grandfather says:

In the use of an informant or a created or compromised company to catch criminal activities, there is always the need to look the other way regarding the illegal activities of the chosen informant(s). This is how criminals fall through the cracks in the criminal justice system. Sometimes it also provides an avenue for those working in the system to slip over the line.

The dangers are great to all involved. IMO such activities should be very seldom used. In fact, they should only be used as a last resort when every other method has been exhausted.

However, when some method works successfully, there is the tendency to rely more and more on it rather than using other lawful methods or good police investigative methods.

  6. Rose says:

@Blink, the DA Rees/Schrunk/Frink went to extraordinary lengths to preclude Rudy’s deposition in a divorce case
when he was a mere visa-problematic lowest level (housing, education, employment) apparent predator on a housewife against whom they had no chargeable case. Imo those repeated efforts to prevent Rudy testifying under oath about how he came into contact with Terri and so on were unusual.

There was no question how they came into contact- she put a request on that service magic whatever site, and got responses and hired him.
In my view, the diligence that was not preformed prior to the sting, was preformed afterward and became convincingly clear RSE was not a credible witness, accusor, or anything else and there they sat passing around the eggless basket.

If his gj testimony was anything like his deposition, who wonders why TH was never charged. What I am still left wondering is wth Kaine continued to believe the accusations involving RSE with that knowledge? As I recall ( and I am going from memory) the was not permitted to intervene at all with RSE deposition and Engel found him on some landscape job somewhere (kidding, you get the point). It was obvious to me in Underhill’s wording reflective of “investigative partners” language, he would like some to believe the FBI was in control of said sting. Hell to the No.

I stand by my assertion years ago. LE expected to arrest TH for solicitation following this sting and they based that on the assertions developed from a barely English speaking man who was in this country illegally and was threatened to be on the next bus out if he did not.
    Boggles my mind.

I was looking for this and finally found it here:
    Allegedly from June 26:
Emails shed light on Horman split.

This is an email from one of Terri’s friends to another of Terri’s friends:

    June 26th

“I was talking to her in general, just to say “How are you, anyway I can help I will, etc.” And she ended up telling me about how they are still very focused on Sauvie Island and telling me that she was driving down highway 30 on the day Kyron disappeared, etc but she doesn’t know why they are focusing on the island. I don’t know. It is all weird. Where is the boy?”

    The other friend replied:

“Not looking so good for Terri, is it. Terri called me this afternoon a couple of hours after I talked to Kaine. She said she was having a bad day – that she & Kaine had a fight. She was driving. Then she said she noticed a detective following her and had to go.”

Later that night, Terri Horman writes to Kaine:

    JUNE 26TH, 11:45 PM

“Okay, I love you but this is ridiculous. What you are doing is parental child abduction and is illegal. I need to know where my daughter is and if she is safe. You were really upset with me when you left. What is it that I/we need to do to reconcile this? I don’t want to call 911 but I need a resolution please. If I don’t hear from you in an hour I will call 911. Terri”

About an hour later, Terri e-mails her friend:

    JUNE 27th, 12:40 AM

“I just called 911. They directed me to non-emergency. Guess what? Since we are married we have joint custody and he can do that. Gee, too bad I didn’t know that. I told the dispatch who we are in relation to the Kyron Horman case and she is having someone call me. Give a mark for the FBI. Terri”

ABC’s Portland affiliate KATU is reporting that the landscaper police say Terri Horman allegedly contacted to kill her husband and Kyron’s father, Kaine Horman, was in on the sting, but then raised the woman’s suspicions enough that she called 911.

The landscaper showed up at Horman’s door June 26 wearing a hidden microphone to demand hush money. Undercover agents were nearby. But the plan backfired when Horman called police to report an emergency, according to KATU, telling the dispatcher a man at her door wanted $10,000.

KATU cited sources as saying that was the second call of the day. The first came minutes earlier to report that someone in a truck was threatening her.
    http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389×8710950

So who was threatening her BEFORE RSE and crew arrived? This is confusing to me. Did Kaine leave with the baby AFTER the sting failed? I always thought it was before, but the above timing doesn’t make sense to me. What time did the actual sting take place?

  10. Rose says:

admittedly the only thing getting my attention is his site establishment and reviews. Someone not fluent in English would not do that write up. The reviews stretch from 04/09, are heaviest in early fall 09, and activity on the site disappears altogether on 11-23-13.

I wonder if anyone would post to the site as a reference in anticipation of asking said vendor to off their spouse? Now that would be incredibly stupid, no?

I appreciate your assertion, and bank you your research and analysis.
But “LE”‘ must include a professional DEA agent, who was brought into the mfh sting based on some drug-related component. And in those DEA investigations, isn’t there generally an fbi collaboration? DA would not be running a DEA officer, or steroid investigation; imo ORegon’s US attorney’s office would be, wouldn’t it?

Their is no collaboration in the true sense. FBI was in assist mode, not lead, period.
The DEA agent could have been an interpreter for hire on contract for all I know. This was definitely a MCSO op.

  14. Rose says:

I thought we knew FBI played an active role initially in the abduction aftermath.
For the first two weeks Art Balizan’s face was in front of the briefing camera beside Staton from time to time.
Imo they played a role larger than “profiler” in identifying and developing a suspect. I imagine their profile of Teri (sources Desiree, Kaine, & Terri) played a role in designing the sting. Imo she was pegged as an erratic, lascivious, hot tempered dame.

Yes, active support role, but not in charge of that sting mess. I also agree their primary focus was both monitoring and investigating Terri at the behest of MCSO. Bau had no evidence to exclude random or stranger abduction.

Apparently mfh is an FBI Violent Crimes Task Force specialty, working in partnership with local & State LE. (I imagine child abduction also fell in that purview.) But for mfh, some act has to be taken; it can’t be mere words. So it was vital Terri give RSE something of value. Wherever the fbi VCTF is headquartered, I bet one of them planned the sting caper outiut realising the Keystone Kops would be executing the attempt to get her to pay Rudy something, even a down payment.

  20. Rose says:

from above “… jointly with local and state authorities through our 35 Violent Crime Task Forces nationwide…”

  22. Rose says:

You know, Underhill went from Gangs to Chief Deputy in 2007.
But he was Task Force happy. Started the Gun Task Force in late 2010.
Before that with M Reiser tge East Cointy Gang Task force. (mimicking the Portland Metro Gang TF that was fbi led, apparently. Gosh knows how many other,, not going to look. I bet the Kyron Task Force in Fall 2010 (was it?) was Rod’s idea, not Staton’s sokd as a budget measure. Every time Rod set up a task force, he asked the commissioners for money.
    ——
about those fbi violent crime task forces:
    https://m.fbi.gov/#https://www.fbi.gov/news/testimony/the-safe-streets-violent-crimes-initiative

“There are approximately 75 FBI led SSTFs focused primarily upon gangs, another 50 FBI-led SSTFs focused primarily on specific violent crimes and fugitives, and another 15 FBI-led SSTFs directed at major theft and transportation crime matters.”

I can’t find one of those 50 SSTF focused on VC in Portland, or Seattle. Portland has one of the 75 SSTF on Gangs. These SSTF’s are composed of local LE but led by an FBI employee.

One VC TF once existed in Portland.
This VC TF Agreement is real old–from when the SSTF on VC was rolled out in 1992.
    http://efiles.portlandoregon.gov/Record/2471671/File/Document

“D” on page 3 is interesting. The FBI consults both the local DA and the OR USAtty as to whether charges would be State or Federal.

2001 article on fbi violent crime assets in central Oregon:, so there are some generalists: http://www.bendbugle.com/2001/01/central-oregons-fbi-presence-grows-as-criminals-join-the-influx/

2003 Seattle: the SST VC had merged with Drugs TF
“At the FBI, the drug squad and violent crimes squad have been merged into one big squad that handles double the number of violations but with significantly fewer agents then before, said Special Agent in Charge Charles Mandigo and Carl. Neither man would reveal the size of the squad.”
    http://m.seattlepi.com/news/article/FBI-task-force-on-trail-of-bank-robbing-Dough-1108015.php

In 2006 Underhill was the Gangs prosecutor before becoming Chief Deputy:
    http://portlandtribune.com/component/content/article?id=104995
So, he routinely dealt with the FBI-led Portland Metro Gangs TF. Sample reading has that SS Gangs TF doing lots of penny ante one off drug buys often using an “informant” to set up a street buy. Kinda like the mfh sting.

  23. Rose says:

As Chief Deputy, with his litigation leadership prior focused on gangs, & often that meant a one on one informant sting street purchase of drugs I’ve read in his day, isn’t it possible “the sting” was HIS idea relying on mcso’s and Heidi’s representations of RSE and Terri? It’s consistent with his building a litigation case background.

WRT June 26th sting, please correct me if I am wrong. I have always had the impression that TH was at another poly, and KH was with k getting ready to leave the house. I assume he thought she would be arrested on the mfh that day and he would return home that evening.

RSE pulls up in the truck and she calls 911 and reports the truck and says she feels threatened. She then confronts him at the door when he is demanding the 10K and she calls 911 again to report the attempted extortion.

By 11:45 pm she realizes that KH is not returning (much to his surprise) and she wants her baby back. She calls 911 again and learns that KH is within his parental rights to take their child.

It seems to me if the Sacramento bf of a Mickelson dau is disseminating Soldier’s poster in all good will, that live in family absolutely believes Terri was behind the abduction, as recently as the summer of 2015, because Kaine firmly believes it.

I suppose it allows him to believe K is alive somewhere.

But I do not see the basis for his belief whatsoever.

If she abducted K for killing because she was in a get-even for god knows what impulsive rage, well any clinician would say she has no history of such violent propensities or actions in her forty years, much less against a child she “mom’d”.
So, the alternative is she wished to place him in another home. Again, I hardly think an educated woman, even one in a rage, would take that legal responsibility and risk unless it was to protect the life of a child you’d reared from his father. The only possible explanation would be molestation, and in Kristian she had an imminent example of how the legal system works positively in an intrafamily situation. As an educated M.Ed. (or whatever) who worked in schools she knew full well and was well trained to call in a report to CPSD, which could easily be anonymous. There would be an investigation, and it would involve her and the pediatrician as well as him. There is absolutely no reason she would take K away from his family systems–her parents, his siblings, Desiree and her system, and so on for mere molestation. So, the only reason whatsoever to me Kaine could see her as the kidnapping moving force is it allows him to hope K is alive. That’s really not acting in K’s best interests. He needs to advocate for a real investigation with a different team, and he needs to do so with the DA, who has the power to write the AG or FBI and get a different team.

The object of her “threat based” call to 911 requiring officers response?

The Landscaper, in his white truck, on her property, demanding his payment for $10,000.

Kaine Horman had been advised to remove the couples 18 month old daughter in advance, for their safety, earlier in the day.

Upon deputies arrival, as informed by Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office about the sting, detectives were forced to tell Terri Horman she was a suspect.

I think we are going to backdrack on some of this in the upcoming piece.

Going slightly off on a tangent here, but Kaylee mentioned the Villareals in an above post. On reading the newsletter she linked to, it says that Elinor Markgraf set up the fund for the family at the bank.

Elinor Markgraf happens to live/lived at the same address as Jim Kelley who was the man that reported seeing the white truck at the end of the road twice that day.

And Elinor has also been quoted in the papers about Kyron.

Is this all a coincidence? Or is this case making me fully lose my mind?

What I also find very odd, is why, if this was a sting, responded to on an open channel? My guess is that they did not expect Terri to call 911 as I mention in the piece. I actually think that Terri expressed her intention to hire counsel in the day, so that caused the urgency.

Also, I believe they needed it for Grand Jury presentation. Sitting GJ #1 Crimes of Violence.

    Good morning everybody,

Wanted to say to Blink & editors – awesome job. To the posters, I didn’t do anything but bring over a person’s comment from in the area that had a connection to one of those scanners. What I heard myself on the online scanner link showed major commotion at that address, definitely, but what this other person heard between herself & her friend was from a police scanner – which provides more info. This poster also said look for the 911 transcript but I can’t find it anywhere. I do believe this to be true, that this landscaper was probably wired & yelling something about money in the Horman’s driveway. In all reality, why didn’t this twit go to the popo right away when she supposedly attempted to hire him? This is an awesome story, Blink.

    ******************
So when (at what time) was the “argument” that TMH allegedly emailed her friend about? And, again, who was threatening her from a truck BEFORE RSE and crew got there, or is that just a f’d up report? I’m glad Blink is going to clarify this day and others for us.”
    __________
    Idk erose’ Q.
Mine certainly is the timing,?content and tone of the “argument” w/ Kaine.
    —/
Tho imo under Terri’s proscribed RO, nothing whatsoever wrt life with Kaine can be published.

If Underhill wants to advance this investigation the easy way, imo
without saying/revealing more, he shoukd write the Judge at hand to state MCDA has no evidence
implicating TH as a threat to KH or kH, and the RO against her is not warranted by facts in mcda’s possession.

Imo if Terri were free of the RO, she would be free to progress the investigation.

imo Desiree has missed the mark in failing to make co-mother her best ally.

btw has DY been able to find a new job?

I wanted to correct something stated in a comment above: 2 teachers did NOT say they saw Kyron leave the school with Terri — they said that they saw Kyron with Terri in the hall and just assumed that he left with her, or might have left with her.

5 years ago I took care of Kyron at a daycare (he was ages 2-3). I saw his step-mom and talked with her at each drop off. She was very kind, very motherly. For the past few weeks I kept thinking…they look really familiar, then I realized I knew her during her body building time. She was dedicated to that new hobby and seemed to enjoy it. Her older son was very well behaved, and was loved by Kyron-I don’t recall feeling any concern at all. He helped read to Kyron on the rough drop off days. Not one thing in my mind raises a red flag about her behavior then to what is going on now.

Blink, just one more comment before I sign off. I was listening to the public scanner the night of the 26th with another online forum buddy. Well her scanner is an actuall police scanner (or such) so she heard something similar but with more info. She wasn;t allowed to post it I guess bc of her husband’s line of work maybe? But I know I heard something involving a guy out front for the first 911 call, disturbance in the driveway or such. I just came across this comment & I’m wondering if you can validate it or use it. The link is to this posters profile & I’m quoting a couple of snippets for your convenience, since this does jive with what I heard on the scanner too (can’t believe I was bored enough to sit & listen but I really want this lil pookie found).

    http://intensedebate.com/people/GraMaListens

Snip 1: I understood that the first 911 call was Terri reporting being harasses for $10,000 by a man in a truck in front of her house. She reported the vehicle make, color & plate number…
Then call #2 was later that day/ evening she called to announce that her Husband moved out, took their baby and his stuff and said he’d be staying with friends for a few days.

Snip 2: Why hasn’t this Gardeners apt in Clackamas been broken open.

raise money thru Event(s) for Kelly’s gofundme.
Oh, and per Soldier she’s proud of her backyard garden.
Where is Kyron’s investigation advocacy with govt
    investigators in that mix?

Don’t know if Elinor lived/lives with Jim Kelley, but she was part of the community helpers when Kyron was abducted. (Also, she has an ex who has one crazy story.)

We learned about 3 days ahead of time that the family was going to come and speak to the press so we had to arrange how to get them in and out of the church without the press mobbing them. We moved my car out of my driveway (off Brooks Road), so the sheriff’s van could park there. We took the family in through my apartment entrance and up the back stairs.

Everybody really jumped in and helped. Jan Campbell came to help us. As time went on and the press conferences became more hectic, Elinor Markgraf, Rhonda Kelvin and Ras Sauer all came to help manage the crowds.

I too have missed Malty’s pithy wisdom and leavening.
She did say this election had captured her attention.
Imo we’re all in “wait” mode. My reaction is to nervously

  48. Rose says:

I wonder the friend’s name who sheltered him as he removed baby k from her mother?
Didn’t you say it was a longtime off and on mistress? (Not the affair du jour at
the time of the abduction but another longer relationship.) One has to feel really badly
for an 18 mo old losing 2 brothers, grandparents, and hardest of all, mom,
and her own home at that moment, then to have random women pass
thru her life in her dad’s arms.
